Stopped in tonight for dinner after visiting someone at the hospital. What a great time we had! Two cold beers in icy mugs. A super nice waiter and a delicious dinner. I had the Camerones Monteray, a bit more cheese than I would like but the shrimp wrapped in bacon were really good. My husband had a beef chimichanga and was pleased it wasn't huge like some places. We walked out fully satisfied for less than $40 with tip. We will be back.

Best Enchiladas Suizas in Arizona. I've been there twice on two separate vacations. Great service, clean restroom, great ambiance, friendly people, amazing food, fair prices. What more could you ask for?

Pretty good place, a little average as far as Mexican food, but it's not in a big city where they have to care all that much. And, they don't! Been here a few times now, and the service has pretty much been lousy each time. Food is, well, OK to good, depending on what you order and what kind of a mood the cook is in, I guess. It's sort of hit or miss.

Service was always a bit slow. Food was typically quite good. I stopped patronizing this place.. At the end of a meal after receiving the check from our surly young server, I pointed out that I hadn't ordered a steak quesadilla it was just cheese. Before I could finish my sentence he blurted out "YES YOU DID!!!!" " YOU ORDERED STEAK!!!" Wow! What an ass. That was it for me. I never miss a chance to tell this story to ANYONE looking for a place to eat.

We LOVE Plaza Bonita! When we moved here 5 years ago, we were in search of good Mexican food. This place is it!! Can't even tell you what I like best....never had a bad meal there. I've read about people not being happy with the service, but we ALWAYS ask for Peine, and our service is five star!! My husband loves all the burritos and I love their combination dinners, so that I can try a couple of things! Service is great and so is the food. Pretty decent house margaritas too!! :D

The margaritas here are horrible. Anyone who tells you they are the best in town are not to be trusted. I didn't even bother trying the food. Save your time and try anyplace else.

I really enjoyed their chips and salsa and their Margaritas are awesome. I love the glasses and rimming them with salt and spices-so cool... Everyone enjoyed their meal. Great portions. I got a chicken taco and it was yummy but my tamale, not so much. Very friendly and attentive staff. I suggest checking it out.

I enjoyed the $7.25 chimichanga lunch special with rice and beans. Chips were served hot and the salsa was surprisingly flavorful. The shredded beef was a tad too salty but good. A large dollop of guacamole and sour cream added for good measure. The ambiance was friendly and the servers attentive. I'd eat here again. It's been 5 hours since I ate there and I am still full. The portions were huge. I give it three stars because frankly, I am tired and feel fatter than ever before!

Another one of our favorite local hangouts, Plaza Bonita in Cottonwood has a pleasant ambience in a clean and well-maintained environment. The entrees and side dishes always seem to be fresh and flavorful and are delivered promptly, even the fajita dishes, which in comparison can sometimes take longer to prepare, in my experience. We especially like the salsa and chile rellenos. All our needs are well-taken care of by the service staff and we've never had a bad experience at this Plaza Bonita location. Room for improvement: more meat with the fajitas, a little less veggies.

I cant believe this place still is around. From the hostess to the bartender Alan this place is awful. I'm from out of town and I will never recommend this place. Taco bell is so much better. What does that tell you. Alan was so busy on his pHone I couldn't wait to get out of there. Please please don't go I never have yelped but save money and choose another Local restaurant.

This is by far the best Mexican food I've had in a long time or ever. Food was well priced and tasted great. Would go back when we are in the area.

With a carload full of people on the way from Phoenix to Las Vegas after an intoxicating day at the Salt River we found ourselves in Cottonwood, starving!!! After checking for yelper suggestions we ended up at Plaza Bonita. Funny enough our driver had stayed at the adjacent hotel and never even eaten there...well that could be remembered (but if you find Elk Tacos on the menu, politely decline). Excited for good south western small town Mexican food, we were greeted at the door by two young fellas who greeted us and welcomed us in with a mighty handshake. Our party of 5 was seated immediately and given 2 bowls of warm wonderful crunchy fresh tortilla chips and 5 bowls of delicious salsa. Our order was quickly taken, most of the items taken off of the generous lunch menu. 4 complimentary baskets of chips later...our food was brought on flaming hot mismatched plates. We dove right into our meals when it was discovered the silverware comes PERSONALIZED!! WHAAt?! Sure enough, Barclay saw he was eating with a knife and fork that was labeled "Quality Barcaly". Wow. The decor was nice and the only other guests in there on a Sunday afternoon were large family parties so that's nice. Long story short, our food was good. The macho burrito with chicken was good, the chicken fajitas were a wonderland of the pallet, the Mexican Pollo plate was oozing with goodness, the Carne Asada plate was muy bueno and the Carnitas plate was chunky...made of pork. loin instead of how it is traditionally cooked. Alex our server was nice and agreed with us that enchiladas should not be served with Marinara and Provolone (DONT WORRY ITS NOT DONE THIS WAY HERE). The Salt River wasn't the only intoxicating part of our trip, the $3.50 Margaritas were topped off with a chili lime salt mix which really added to the flavor and thirst quenching-ness of our drinks. Overall a satisfying lunch experience in Cottonwood.

Meh...completely meh.... Nothing but blah pedestrian faux Mexican food. No spice, no flavor, and a completely curt and unapproachable waiter on top of it all. How can you gets such bad Mexican food in Arizona? The prickly Pear margarita was "generic fruit" flavor. Go to Conchos...the staff is warm and inviting. The food is generous and oh so good. And authentic. I'm so disappointed that I let someone talk me into this for my last day visiting family out here...I was looking forward to a good plate of tamales and enchiladas with the margarita for a month!

Considering the late hour that 8 of us arrived, the team at Plaza did a really good job handling us. The food and service the rest of the night were stellar! Everyone was super friendly, too. It can't be easy tolerating me and 7 of my besties, especially on a Saturday night. I had the shrimp culichi dish. It came out on a HUGE plate. Each of us got our own little container of warm tortillas. The refried beans and rice portions were so big, I ended up eating half of my meal and taking the rest home. The culichi was even better the next day! My mouth is watering, just thinking about it.

This place is delicious and I enjoyed everything but the beans! Love this place, very good!

Wow, I figured the food would be decent enough, typical of most mexican places I find while driving around on road trips. WRONG!! This place was amazing. I ordered the grilled chicken and sautéed vegetables burrito (in the Salad section). It was delicious!

I live in Denver, but frequently visit family in the Cottonwood/Camp Verde area and have eaten here many times over the last few years. Colorado is a "Mecca" for great mexican food, so my expectations are usually pretty low when I eat it outside of Colorado. This place has been a pleasant surprise time and time again. Now, I actually expect great food when I go here. Their chips and salsa are really good, and if you want something a little hotter, your server will bring you a green salsa that will satisfy. There really hasn't been anything on the menu we've eaten and not enjoyed. The service has been really good and consistent every time we've been here. Prices are very reasonable too. Really, I don't have anything bad to say about this place. Give them a try, you'll see!

We have been going here for years, this is our "go to" local Mexican food. Always good food, good drinks specials, excellent friendly service, and very reasonable prices. What else can you ask for in your local Mexican food restaurant?

This place is pretty good. The rice is pretty rocken and the beans are just above average. My wife is Mexican and she didn't care for their food. I'm a white guy, but know my way around a menu, and I though that though it wasn't what we're used to, the flavor was pretty tasty. It's possible that they use different regional recipes then we're used to. But I couldn't put my finger on any real Mexican 'region' in their food. But again, all in all, it was an OK meal, and I did find it tasty, but nothing special. You might want to try Pepe's Cafe down Main St. instead. We ate there for b-fast one day and really enjoyed it.

Three stars for food, four stars for the value of the food. I can't say it's amazing mexican food but it is really good and it's very reasonably priced for being a sit down restaurant with free chips & salsa and great quick service. When we were about to finish our first bowl of salsa someone came over and gave us a new one without us even having to ask. Now I frequent mexican restaurants a lot and that has never once happened, so I call that great service. I had the garden fresca burrito which was giant and two meals. My boyfriend had the grilled chicken supreme burrito which was also giant but he finished it. I would say the veggies in my burrito tasted a little like chinese food which was odd but I dumped salsa all over it. My boyfriend really liked his burrito and would give this place 4 stars for the food and 5 for the value.

This restaurant is really underrated which is great for me because there's never a wait. It's my go-to restaurant for Mexican cuisine. The service is always friendly, attentive, and prompt and it's never crowded. The food is tasty, although if you like it spicy, ask your server specifically to make it spicy because they tend to err on the side of caution (which, on the other hand, makes it a great place for someone to experience Mexican food who might be afraid of the heat!). The pollo poblano and the chili rellenos are great, as are the chimichangas and quesadillas. And the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I'm a fan!

Big selling point for me: they make **Fresh** Guacamole each day! Many seats, friendly atmosphere, great food. Being from the Northeast, it's hard to find good/great/authentic Mexican food - or even have an idea of how wonderful it can actually be. This place has a wide variety of food, friendly staff, very flexible and attentive - and great food! Like I said - Guacamole - try it! Casual and suitable for all ages, groups or having lunch/dinner on your own, it's worth going to. All the way.

Ate here once during our stay in Cottonwood, but I would have eaten here everyday if my buddy wasn't a food snob! I loved this place, great food, at reasonable prices.

Good food, great service in a clean and fun dining room! We have eaten here for years and have our menu favorites, such as the shrimp cocktail, the shrimp salad, the enchiladas and of course the Albondigas! Mui Excellente!

Love this place every time we come to sedona we eat here! Everythings pretty good me and my wife have not had anything bad here out of all the times weve been here! So 5 stars for everything being scrumptious after a long day on the trails!

We are locals....so finding a good Mexican restaurant took us a while. We tried Sedona and Cottonwood and this place is it! Nothing fancy, food is not terribly authentic, but it is GOOD! Place is clean. Service is excellent! We have a favorite waiter, so be sure to ask for Peine (his name is Jose Louis, but they call him Peine which means "the comb"....he has hair that kinda stands up!). GREAT waiter! We love the fajitas, and lots of the dishes....the margaritas are good too. It's a win/win!!

I wanted their Mexican food to be really good but I was severely disappointed. Locally they are much better known for their stiff drinks rather than their sub-par "Mexican," food. If you enjoy authentic Mexican, this place is not for you. Portions are oversized, I think they should focus on quality vs. quantity.

The food was good, it was fresh, the mole poblano was really delicious, the frozen margarita was great, the tamales were good. I thought the waitstaff was very good. I would highly recommend this place for mexican in cottonwood.

Great food and great service. We were traveling cross-country and stopped in for dinner. Huge menu selection, fish tacos were really good and my wife had the appetizer prawns which was also really good. Large portions and you have to order a side of guacamole with the complimentary chips. I would rate this place an overall outstanding!

Lunch was average. I expected better. The food had little flavor. The staff was pleasant and accomadating.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
