Good establishment great service, food is pretty good, sushi is really good, and the portions are huge . They know how to get you in and out without making you feel like cattle.

was told by a trusted friend that it was good. I won't be back. first time i tried it sat at sushi bar for late lunch. chef would not take our order. finally after 15 minutes a waitress took our order and the chef made it in front of us. was a strange way to do things. underwhelmed by the sushi. figured the chef had an off day. it happens. tried again. food was disappointing. asked for a fork and was brought a dirty one.

This place is great! We had an amazing waitress, I wish we could remember her name. She was from Hawaii, if anyone knows her. I really enjoyed that this restaurant offers Japanese and Chinese food, so if I feel like fried rice, I can get that with my sushi rolls. The fish was fresh and the rolls were well made. My husband always tests a restaurant by getting it's Mongolian Beef and this place checked out, great food, great wait staff. We will be back!

This place is a joke, stay away. Stay very far away. The food is edible, hence one star above one but the meals are way overprice and some are actually freaking enormous, but you won't know which ones unless you've spent hundreds of dollars trying them all. Boring, greasy, weird tasting food. You would be better off going to Rice Bowl or Panda Xpress. If you do go here, split the meals with someone. The sushi is spendy too, and most of the rolls are like way over done, over sauced, over ingrediented, and no real crab, none. All fakey flakey pollock flake. Will not being going here anymore. Rude waitress, with only rudimentary grasp of english, of no use for asking questions. Water full of ice, hate lots of ice, need to remember ask: no ice. Never again.

I've eaten here a few times and always found the service and quality of food to be good, but nothing outstanding about it and probably the reason why I haven't been back. The prices are inline with other sushi and Asian places, but there's nothing there that makes me say Wow, so I just go to the other places in Wasilla that serve better food at the same price.

My standard Mongolian beef and sesame chicken dinner with fried rice, is not on the menu. In order for me have this (minus the fried rice because that wasn't a possibility as I was informed) they upcharge me $2. So the total for MY meal alone was $20.95! Are you kidding that's ridiculous! I found myself spitting out half of my sesame chicken because it was too fatty or had a weird taste to it, completely disgusting. Plus, they screwed up my order twice. By the time I got my food, my kids were done eating. I was tempted to tell them to cancel it and take it off my bill, but they assured me it would be right out. However, the egg drop soup was delicious. My daughter ordered the double crunch roll for $16.95, it was good, not great but good. I really regret eating here. This was a waste of time and money. The prices are too high.

We ate at Tokyo for the first time in over a year, and had a great meal. My Godzilla roll was delicious in taste and appearance. Our combo Chinese dinners were likewise carefully prepared and visually appeasing as well. We had excellent service. Never did our water glasses run dry or the tea get cold. The check was handled very quickly by the server (as opposed to the old days o f standing at the cash register for long periods of time), and he even bagged our take-home boxes in the instant we set them on the table. I know that we haven't always had this good of an experience at Tokyo, but this trip will bring us back sooner.

The food tasted great. It is a decent place for sushi in the valley. However this business gets 2 stars due to poor service. We had to ask for drinks 20 minutes after being seated and every time time we needed something we had to get up and find a server. At one point during our meal we asked the sushi chef if we could get some more drinks and was told " that's not my job I only do sushi". It felt as though we were bothering them just trying to get a meal. This will not be our first choice in the future.

The mushu pancakes were Mexican tortillas. The mushu filling was bland and watery with almost no meat. Even the fortune cookie was stale. And The waitress looked at us funny when we asked for hot water bc it was freezing outside and too late for caffeinated tea. She brought back lukewarm water from the microwave. I didn't come in with high expectations and was still disappointed.

This place is my absolute favorite! The food is absolutely amazing. My favorite is the Italian Roll which I get almost every time my husband and I go. They're a tad spendy sometimes, but it's so worth it!

The egg drop soup was quite good, my black tiger sushi roll was fantastic and the interior is very rustic lots of wood and high ceiling feels very open

Very awesome atmosphere, love the fire place in the middle, and we got to sit by it, a plus. The sushi bar was good looking as well. I had the Mexico roll and the Philly roll, they were as good as they looked. I also had the yakisoba chicken. Very well seasoned. I tasted the teriyaki chicken and loved it. No complaints here. And a very friendly staff.

We came here on Tuesday for a date night. Service was quick. No complaints there. We ordered a bento box and two rolls. These came with egg drop soup which I liked. Both rolls were good, but I only remember one of the names, the Black tiger roll. Prices are quite high if you ask me but it won't stop us from going back occasionally. For two people the meal came out to over 60 not including tip.

Why does this place have such high reviews? Food is alright. Service sucks. Service is extremely slow. Don't run around helping other people while we wait 15 minutes just for our check!!! They are cleaning off tables when there isn't even a wait. There are 8 open tables and yet they are cleaning others off, while not even clearing off our table or bringing our check!

This is the best option for Chinese or sushi in wasilla. Still it's not GREAT, but if you're here you have to go with what you can get. The service is ok, I have had both good and bad service here. The atmosphere is eclectic with a mixture of log cabin, Asian art, and 80's music always playing on the tv's ??? It's always busy because like I said it's the best option in the valley.

I love sushi. I have not tried many of the (very few) sushi places in Wasilla, but I have tried a couple. Tokyo sushi for me stands out for two reasons: the quality of ingredients, the personality of the chef. The good: fresh and delicious salmon, an amazing "chef special" sashimi salad that was whipped up on the spot that was also super delicious, clean restaurant, interactive sushi chef even though he was very busy. The not so good: a few nigiri pieces were a little heavy handed with the wasabi smudge, some of the salmon pieces and roll pieces did not slice cleanly or straight so the knife might need some honing, some rolls were over stuffed or squished when rolling. The food was enjoyable and so was the atmosphere. I would recommend this place to others, and especially get a seat at the bar. I will say that I only ordered from the sushi menu though, and have no opinion on their other offerings. Many of the little things that keep this from being truly superb sushi can be attributed to one chef working very fast to serve more than a dozen patrons, many who arrived simultaneously. Will hopefully make this place a Monday night ritual.

If you're vegetarian there isn't much here for you. Even the fresh spring rolls have some kind of meat or seafood. Rice is pretty much the only thing on the menu for vegetarians so you might want to try another restaurant and save yourself the disappointment

This place is weak. I sat at the bar. The sushi chef was nice enough. I asked if he could make a firecracker roll, which I explained as a deep fried spicy tuna roll with Siracha sauce. He said sure no problem, but brought out something different. It was late, and I had been driving a while so I just ate it. It wasn't even close to spicy. He forgot the siracha so I asked for some. I also had a spider roll. He made me an orange for desert which was fine, but overall I was unimpressed. In terms of spiciness, I would say that Alaska is more like the east coast in that medium is not nearly enough is you like the heat. Being from the east coast and having lived in Tahoe for a bit, I can say that the scale (mild, medium, hot) is different across the country. Alaskans can't handle the heat which seems perfectly OK in retrospect. In conclusion, just skip Wasilla entirely. You cannot see Russian from you truck or RV, and there isn't much there to keep you entertained anyway.

A Chinese-Japanese fusion restaurant situated in a deserted plaza - granted, I was there around 9:30pm - made me a bit weary of entering. I've been to a few Asian (fusion) restaurants in Anchorage that were hole the wall and mediocre. Asian hole in the wall restaurants in LA are THE BOMB!! Anyway, the menu has two different sides, catering to Japanese and Chinese enthusiasts. We ordered the seafood lo mein and the teriyaki chicken combo. The Lo mein itself was really soggy, yet bland. It came with egg drop soup, which was too salty and thick for my palate. The teriyaki chicken was decent, but really overpriced for what you got. It tasted like the teriyaki chicken from the local Niban (CA), except Niban charges you half the price. The miso soup was decent (generic). I haven't had the sushi, but seeing the prices on the menu are enough to deter me. If I want fresh sushi, I'll just wait a few months and go to Sushi Ota. My boyfriend LOVES Sushi Ota, as it's filled with Japanese people. Anyone who eats at Ota will shell out big money ($$$$) to eat there. Too bad it's 3500 miles away from Wasilla, but I digress. The waitresses are nice, despite ordering takeout. They didn't pack us any chopsticks (even though we're Asian...), but the food came out quick. It's pretty big inside, and this seems like a "happening" place to be (did I just say that?!) on a Friday or Saturday evening. It's quite nice inside, but the food just left me with a bad aftertaste and a horrible stomach ache shortly after finishing my meal. *sigh* I've been jaded by amazing Asian food that I'm contemplating on whether to quit trying these forgettable Asian restaurants in Alaska... ;/ P.S. Hope no one thinks that I'm sippin' on any haterade...

Very disappointed in the sushi and sashimi. Wasilla Boat was a good value, but it had been off the boat a bit too long. Flavorless, frozen, too warm, & fishy all on the same boat. Even the seasoned rice on the sushi didn't quite taste right. Ika was sad, no wonder it is so hard to find locally. Wasabi too wimpy, ginger old and bland. Salad & miso were ok, potstickers were yummy. Fruit cup served in a votive holder with bad sticker residue on the bottom like they ran out of food safe dishes on a busy night as this one had probably never seen the inside of a dishwasher. But I guess I could have brought my own container!!

Best sushi ever. Try their Hollywood roll. Don't ask for it elsewhere; they invented it here. If you're not into sushi, their Crispy Duck is to die for. Walnut shrimp is heaven if you like a sweeter dish, else they have excellent Kung Pao and Sechwan (sorry for the spelling) if you like it hot. Middle of that road would be their Almond Chicken, which is an astounding array of ingredients that balance perfectly. They serve both Chinese and Japanese dishes, plus sushi - each has its own menu. This is my favorite place for great Oriental food.

The Valley is not a great place for sushi, but Tokyo is probably the best we have to offer. They have a wide variety of Japanese, Korean and Chinese dishes. As for the susi, they have some very good rolls and the fish has been fresh enough each time. If you are looking for better you'll have to drive to Anchorage.

Usually I'm weary of pan-Asian restaurants, because the more variety, the lower the quality. Tokyo was a nice surprise because the quality of everything we ordered was just so yummy! The gyzoga wasn't greasy, it was tasty. We all shared the nabeyaki udon which had a rich broth, WAY better than Sushi Ya's version in Anchorage. California roll is typical, the spider roll was very good, as well as a specialty roll I ordered with shrimp tempera w/ crabmeat on top with roe. (Can't remember the name, but it was delectable!!!) The ingredients are high-quality, from the soup to rolls to teriayaki. Even the tea was calming and tasty. I was thoroughly impressed and might even prefer it to Pete's Sushi Spot in Anchorage. I'll definitely come by in the future.

I'm shocked at all the positive reviews for this place. Maybe it's because Wasilla is limited on choices for Asian cuisine, but this place should be ashamed of themselves. The food was horrible, the server was worse and the atmosphere, well if you like rustic you should enjoy the woodsy smell of this place. I say avoid at all costs!

Immediately after I sat down I was greeted by an amazing sushi artist that recommended that I try the tuna & salmon. I have learned that you never ignore a chef when they give you a recommendation & this was no acception. I had the most amazing rainbow roll that I have ever tasted, the tuna was to die for and the salmon blew me away! The seaweed salad was also well above average and i caught myself taking too long on my lunch break because I was savoring every last bite of the bounty that was before me.

Ok so after checking all the great reviews for Tokyo I decided.to try the take out. Wowza! I picked up my food and the amount that came was insane! It was fresh, tasty and price reasonable. Havnt dined there yet but if the food is anything to go by, I will be being seated soon! Just moved home so its not as close anymore but still absolutely north the drive! Yummy yum yum.

Fantastic food and quick service! Got a bento box which came with a lot of food including chicken teriyaki, sushi, dumplings, and tempura. Plus it came with soup and salad. Although there are some good cheaper alternatives, it's a bit expensive for better options.

This place is located, typically for Alaska and especially for Wasilla, in a strip mall between Chepo's Mexican restaurant and an ATV dealer. The place is gorgeous inside - the fountain and fireplace are both a great touch. The waitresses were kind and helpful. They have a huge menu that covers Japanese, Chinese and Sushi. We had a little bit of each. Everything was good. The other reviewer mentioned it being "romantic" and good for her that it was. For me and my kids it was "fun", for the 4 men seated behind us having beer, it was "just a good place to eat", plus the football playoffs were showing on a large tv placed just over the sushi bar. The sushi chefs kept stopping to watch. In fact, the only weirdness (it's Wasilla, there HAS to be a weird moment) was when I asked the waitress what the Chef's choice was written on the lunch special board out front. It said "Mongolian Beef, Rice, Soup and Sushi special chef's choice." She went to the sushi bar and asked the chef and came back and said, "He says he doesn't know yet. He said to tell you it's a surprise." She smiled broadly. Erm, no thanks. I'll stick to the menu. What with the way my life has been lately, I don't want any more surprises and I especially don't want the sushi kind. There was no weirdness after that, I am happy to say and the food was very good. We will go back again and left with two boxes of leftovers to take home. the service was good and everyone seemed to get along and work well together.

If you want great customer service, this is NOT the place to go. At all. The wait time can sometimes be forever. Last time I was there, they forgot to give us our menus, and we waited for ten minutes until my fiance called someone over and let them know. If you want delicious sushi in the valley this is the place to go. I have been there several times, but only for the food - which is fabulous. But I am no sushi expertise. I just know it is delicious, spicy and fresh.

  • Trenna W.

The only reason they got 4 stars is the waitresses have been great both times I ate in and the one time I did pick up. But, I don't like you can only get white rice with your meal and have to separately order pork fried rice as a side. Food came out hot and in a decent time frame but, it just doesn't hit the spot. The rice seems very generic, same with the egg drop soup and the cashew chicken. Would I return? Yes, but only if I wasn't headed into Anchorage anytime soon to fill my craving. It's clean and the service is good.

Melt in your mouth delicious salmon sushi rolls with a bit of a campy feel to it next to a fireplace made this the highlight of my trip to Alaska. It was the most romantic night of the trip. We went in the afternoon on that cold winter day in January. We made our way to this secret unsuspecting place. It was cozy and quaint. The owners were gregarious. The atmosphere was not incredibly fancy, nor a complete dive. It was... everything that you would imagine an Alaskan sushi place would be. I was brought back to Twin Peaks. But there were no fish in the percolator. We ordered a variety of rolls. There was so much food. It was all fresh and amazing. But hands down I have never had salmon rolls like I did that day. It was like kobe beef.. melt in your mouth bliss. I have found that some of the best moments are the ones like this... forever tucked away from most of the world but treasured forever by those that are fortunate enough to encounter them. The love affair that didn't last... oh but the memory of this place shall always have a place in my heart that one day perhaps I may return.

OMNOMNOM this place is sooo good. The mongolian beef is amazing....it like melts in your mouth. Good sushi and really nice people....nice setting too. (As long as you forget you're in a strip mall.) My only complaint is about a year ago they got new menus and raised everything in price a pretty good amount....it used to be like 11 bucks a entree but now its 14.99 or so....a little too spendy. Which is enough to make me want to give it three stars....but the food is so awesome that i just cant. The cheapest way to go for 2 people is to order one of thier Dinner Plate things that come with soup and rice and two different types of entrees....its only like 20 bucks and it'll feed you both. YUM

I am not such a big sushi fan but my wife loves it so I had the Mongolian beef and she had sushi the place is very authentic but a bit overpriced for what you get my wife thinks this is the best orental food in the valley though, the place is nice, the food is ok, but a little pricey.

Food was very good, though not amazing, hence the 4 star in lieu of 5. Service was great--found Inari sushi for us, which was not on the menu. An unexpected surprise in Wasilla, AK!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
