Am I the only one that tastes non fresh ingredients in every dish. The food my wife and I were served was some of the worst mexican food I have ever eaten. We no eat at Jalapeno's. Atleast there food doesn't have the aroma of tin can with every bite. Does anything with tomato's have to taste like tin. So much white onion there is a ratio of 1:1 of meat and white onion. come on. Service was great though and that is why I'm giving it one star. i will never ever eat there again.

Wow! Finally a Mexican restaurant that fries their food but does not taste greasy. The chicken chimi was flavorful and had ample sour cream and guacamole. The chili relienos were also quite tasty and we would have both again without hesitation. If only the chain Mexican restaurants in the lower 48 could produce such a great meal as we received in Wasilla.

Best Mexican food in town! If you're a sucker for a good margarita and an extensive variety of tequilas to choose from, then this is your place. Just opened in 2006 if memory serves right... it has plasma screens at the bar and an upstairs dining area for large parties. Traditional menu with a few specials that offer an Alaskan twist. Halibut Veracruz is one of my favorites. For the margarita fans, go for the Cadillac's, well worth the extra coin.

I have had better microwave burritos then what this place serves. The service was almost just as bad. We were one of the few people in there and we kept having to track them down to get service. They packed all 6 of us with the few other people that were there in a little tiny room. If your looking for some high priced food to feed to your dog then this is the place.

Very disapointed, Just paid 8.75 for a Taco salad that came without Sour Cream, no salsa and smaller than a dinner salad. I could have gone to Taco Bell and got a much bigger salad that tasted better for way less money. My husband had the camaronies Rancharos and it wasn't very good either. Second time we have tried that place. DONE with it never again.

Stopped in with an acquaintance for a drink and plate of Nachos (2008). Pretty hard to screw up a plate of Nachos...not. We got our drinks and the Nachos were simply tortilla chips and melted cheese...for $10. I could have made this slop at home for much cheaper. Service was lackluster. We were the only people there and this was the best they had to offer? Haven't been back and don't plan to.

Not bad and not great. Service is friendly but not fast and I do not recommend this place got a "fast" lunch. Food is ok to mediocre. It's not bad but a far from the Mexican cuisine I am accustomed to in CA. I had the chili verde, eh, wasn't bad. Rice beans etc typical. Son ordered burger from kids menu, very dry and just not good; he ate the bun. Portions are appropriate are our server was nice. Love yelp as I can review the food and still be nice to our Server. FYI servers: carry a couple straws in your apron, makes a huge impact when you can just whip one out when asked.

Today was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in any restaurant I have ever been to. I'm not typically one to complain when it comes to food or service. When I do complain, I try to accurately set the scene and paint the picture. Today is Cinco de Mayo and one would expect the food and service to be top notch with the consideration that they would be busy. We figured as much and our party of approximately 10 attempted to make reservations a day or two ahead of time and we're told that they would absolutely not accept them on Cinco de Mayo. Okay, it's a busy day, we'll roll with it. We arrive at 6:15 on the dot. It took approximately 15 minutes to be seated, they send us upstairs with three tables in a tight-fitted corner and one wobbly table. The upstairs area we were sat in was fairly empty at first, with only a few smaller tables filled. The waitress waited for us to get situated and asked if we would like anything to drink. They had 3 or 4 food menus to share between the entire table, no drink menus to be had We order two beers, a few mango margaritas and my wife ordered a blended Coronarita. We told them it would be a bit for us to look over the menus. I ask for a pitcher of water or two for the table... I was told no. Half an hour passes. Nearly every water on the table is empty, the waitress brings by two beers and tells us that the margaritas will be just a bit longer. According to her, the restaurant ran out of margarita glasses and was washing them as fast as they could. She takes our food orders and we make it clear that the orders need to be on separate tickets. Another server arrives and hands out chips and salsa. Another hour passes. The upper floor is now full. Tables around us have been sat, served margaritas, had their orders taken and mind you, there is only one waitress on the floor. Beers and margaritas are being handed out left and right. Our table came last. 3 or 4 Mango margaritas made their way to one end of the table. Another beer is requested. About another twenty minutes passes and we see other tables receiving food, beer, margaritas, Coronaritas. The waitress disappears again and shows up with 4 ordered appetizers of queso cheese/spinach queso, all of which were ordered hot and served cold. They also left our entire table hanging with 4 bowls of queso getting colder by the minute and no chips to be had. Another ten minutes pass before we get another refill of chips and water. The waitress brings the blended Coronarita... There is no ice and the beer was warm. The ordered beer still has not arrived. Another half hour passes. Every table around us with the exception of one with now disgruntled customers has been served food. Some of the customers that were there after us are now packing their to go containers and leaving. Checks are being handed out to every table. The disgruntled customers who were seated next to us left as they also had not been served food yet. Finally, the waitress arrives with food! All the food is handed out, my wife and I both receive wilted fajita salads with no dressing. My steak fajita meat is not even cut up, it is in one long continuous string. The meat, onions and green peppers were not even remotely warm. My avocado was starting to brown. The waitress says she will be right back with the ranch and never returned. Every other dish that was served at that table was cold. One plate was so cold it was immediately returned. The ordered beer is still missing in action. By this time my wife had finished her Coronarita and wanted another. Another half hour passes and a manager that was running around earlier handing out tickets to surrounding tables earlier finally came to ours and started apologizing on behalf of everything. He immediately took any missed orders and brought a beer and Coronarita, napkins, and the two ranches that had not otherwise been delivered. It was now about 9:30 pm. We asked for to go boxes and the check. The to go boxes were all the small ones. I should probably mention that my entire $17 salad could have fit in one untouched. The check arrives, a whopping $200 with numerous errors throughout. The returned meal was not removed from the check even though it was not touched before being returned. We were charged for alcoholic beverages we did not order nor receive. It took another twenty minutes to sort the bill out, no help of the manager or the waitress, we were handed duplicate receipts and pens and told to do it ourselves. There was no offer to discount any of the food, drinks, or service that we received. To be honest, if I could rate this experience at 0 stars I would. I never intend to eat at this restaurant again and I feel sorry for any that do. I have had far better service at far worse restaurants.

Worst excuse for mexican food. I have been raised in California with authentic mexican food and this is awful. Ordered a tamale and it was mushy! I have never had a mushy tamale and didn't even take a bite. The beans watery. Don't waste your time and money. Mind blown on how this establishment still open. Doesn't deserve the 1 star I gave

Food was really good but it lacks Mexican authenticity. I'm from Utah and I've had some pretty damn good Mexican food. Their portion sizes are way too small for the price you pay. I got a 2 enchilada meal and it didn't even fill me up, I was very disappointed. The service was great and our waitress was very nice but it's overpriced I don't know if I will eat here again.

Not consistent. I made a point of coming here three times before reviewing. Great- not so good- good So, how hard is it to make Mexican ( American Mexican food)? It's just sautéed to dead ingredients thrown together in a chimichanga, burrito, tostada, taco. Etc..,. From great, to kinda dry, to average. Bottom line, I'll keep coming here. The beer is cold, the service is friendly and fast, the atmosphere is casual, ( I'm frequently a slob) Comfortabe , fast, reasonsbly priced food. Never had to wait to get in.

Three strikes and you're out! This is the worst Mexican food ever. Maybe I'm spoiled because I have eaten authentic Mexican food prepared by actual Mexicans. I will never return to this restaurant.

I've never eaten anything I liked here. Usually I try a place three times before giving a review and this place, after three tries, isn't a place I want to return too. I'd rather go to Chepo's for Mexican food.

Their food isn't even tex-mex, I'm not even sure they have ever eaten Mexican food before opening a Mexican restaurant. This place just sucks all around, service, food, you name it they suck at it.

Okay, this place needs to step up their game, even so they are the only game in town that is no excuse to be sloppy. First, two adults come in for a nice quite dinner and they try to seat us in the loud family area, so I ask for a booth in the other room which was met with a snarl from the waiter who made us wait, humm. Once seated I ordered rice and beans with a side of sour cream and asked to make it look like a meal on one plate (pretty) not just two side orders. Every other meal they service has a little bit of chopped lettuce on the plate but not mine as you can see. Rice and beans are my most favorite meal. If they don't want to service it as a meal then take it of the menu! A little customer service and attention to detail would go a long ways. After all you will be paying the most for your food and drinks here as a customer we should be receiving better.

I love Mexican food and have tried a variety of different places, but Hacienda was by far the best place! I was greeted by a friendly smile as I walked through the door, even the busser who brought my family and I chips and salsa was very polite. The waitress was professional and she also made us feel welcome. The food, the drinks, and the over a experience was a good one! We will defiantly be coming back

Terrible food. From chips and Salsa to my dinner. Not to clean looking for a newer building.

My expectations were low going into a Mexican restaurant in Alaska. I was happily surprised. It would not compete in So Cal, but it is just fine for Alaska. I had the cheese enchiladas and a beef taco. Both were solid, as were the chips and salsa.

The food is mediocre at best. nothing good really. Every time I have eaten here I have been disappointed. Margarita was pretty good.

We went to Hacienda last night for some much-needed drinks and grieving. We were seated quickly, and were greeted and brought chips by our waitress quickly. That's about where the quickness ended. The two of us that were drinking ordered margaritas, which took somewhere near 20 minutes to get to us. We figured, having ordered anejo in our margaritas, that they were simply having to age the tequila themselves. With our drink order, we also ordered a bowl of queso to go with the 4 bowls of chips we consumed before dinner, three of which we managed to get through by the time our Velveeta queso made it to the table. Shortly after the queso came out, our dinner followed behind it. I can't speak for the other two in my party, but the food I received was average, maybe somewhat less than. I had the combination plate #1, which came with a chile relleno, beef enchilada, cheese enchilada, beef taco, beans & rice. The chile relleno was decent but not especially noteworthy, the cheese enchilada had enough cheese in it to stop anyone up for a day or two, and the ground beef that they used in both the taco and enchilada, while seasoned heavily, just had an "off" taste to it. The service was spotty, the food was average-ish, but the margaritas were delicious!

Hacienda Mexican Restaurant was a very pleasant surprise while passing through Wasilla. We were amazed at how fast our food came out, hot and delicious and our waitress was very friendly. The margaritas were perfect and I have to admit that both my husband and I cleaned our plates, everything was great!!

Went withe my wife. Good food, great service and very uh..friendly staff. Our waiter in fact kept smiling at me and must have had something in his eye because he winked a few times when he brought our food. Even the manager came over once and asked how service was and how everything was doing. Oh and to the waiter, sorry but I am taken, you can still bring my food though ^.^

I tried this place when it opened about 6 years ago. It was gorgeous with real table clothes, linen napkins and it was really, really expensive and fairly pretentious. Food was good but never went back. After reading JG M's review and finding Taco Bell packed (it's been completely rebuilt in Wasilla) the kiddos and I ventured over to Hacienda to "give it another try" on a total whim as it was right across the street. I figured we could afford a plate of nachos anyways. My first impression was, "huh, the place isn't as fancy as I remembered" and the place looked stripped down - no table clothes or linen napkins or fancy artwork....Then the menu was totally unlike the expensive menu you see on line for this place (and what I remembered) ...I was a bit uneasy until I really started looking at the menu. It was familiar...it looked REALLY familiar, in a good way, and the prices were not only lower than what is on the web site but lower than other places in the valley ...we ordered. And we could afford more than just a plate of nachos. The food came. It was plentiful and good and ...really familiar... Finally I asked, "How come this reminds me of my all time favorite Mexican restaurant...La Cabana (in Anchorage)?" The waiter smiled and said, "because we bought the place." Case closed. La Cabana is a family owned place celebrating it's 50th year in Anchorage this year. That's a big deal in Alaska. Best food and best service in my humble opinion. Sorry Chepo's. I liked your homey feel in Wasilla, but LaCabana (oops - Hacienda) has better food. Wait - if you like your mexican platters smothered in beans and rice and cheese - all which is very good - but you cannot find the chili relleno and taco without digging - then Chepo's is for you. If you like your food a little less sloppy, a little less greasy and you like more sour cream and guacamole for a little cheaper - try Hacienda. Also, it's hot sauce was too hot for me and the chips are really, really fresh and salty. My daughter and I split a delicious virgin margarita too while my son's standard "chicken nuggets" appeared to have been breaded with panko. Amazing. Glad this place is only 2 miles from my house, right next to Fred Meyer. Now that we know Hacienda is really "LaCabana II" , we will be regulars. I told the waiter they needed to advertise that and if they had, I would have started coming a lot sooner.

I give them an food rating because the service was very good and the food was excellent served quickly and at a fair price for what you get. Not sure if it is the beat in the valley but defenatilly one of them.

Wow. That was so incredibly mediocre. The service was very slow, and the food was poor. Both the chicken in the enchilada and the pork in the carnitas chimi were dry. Probably cooked yesterday. Sad. Shoulda known what the quality would be like when we saw the drive thru...

My wife and I went there even though friends warned us it was not very good. We felt we should at least try them for ourselves. Big mistake, I wish we had gone across the street to Taco Bell. I know they would be better. The waitress was very nice, but that did nothing for the quality of the food. We shared some onion rings (gross). We each tried differant things and shared, this has to be the worst mexican food place in Wasilla. We will not be going back.
