High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. Been going to this place for years. Every time we visit our friends place out in Exton, this is our go-to spot. We had a another great night this past Saturday. It's refreshing to see a locally owned bar/restaurant among a sea of chain establishments, especially one with outdoor space. Wings are always solid, along with their homemade chips. I usually make up my own sandwich combination and they are always accommodating. Didn't see the owner Saturday, but he's usually around making friendly conversation with the customers, which is always a good sign. This isn't a meal at Le Bec Fin, but it isn't supposed to be....enjoy it for what it is and have fun.

This is a decent place to hang out on a weekday or weekend night. Especially when its warm out on the outside patio. The food is tasty...I like to get a few rum and cokes and then have buffalo chicken tenders. . The cocktails and drinks are made right with plenty of alcohol and are decently priced. The server ladies are nice and cool to chat with. I don't understand the negativity here.

  • Adam M.

Very slow. Very poor service. They brought my 2 year-old nephew warm soda water, instead of a Sprite. It took nearly an hour and a half to get our food. The manager was hitting on a table of girls. I would not go back. Go somewhere else. Or stay home. Not worth the money.

    (1)
  • Liz R.

The menu has a pretty solid selection of "American" food, but it isn't necessarily worth the price. They do have an outside seating area, which is a great spot in nice weather. It's located in a shopping center, across from the Exton Mall so there is plenty to do before or after eating. No complaints about the quality of food or their service.

  • Anthony M.

This place is horrible, their food sucked, and their manager is a complete bigot. THIS IS THE WORSE SERVICE IVE EVER HAD. It started out decent, because the server was good, so if no stars was an option I'd still give them one for his effort in defusing our situation. We had a confrontation with the owners friend, who was totally the aggressor, and the owner didn't ask for our side of the situation, and completely ruined my girlfriends mothers birthday. So instead of defusing the situation, he took his friends side of the store, and let him act like a complete child. I'll never recommend this place EVER again, I'll never come here again, this place is run by a total creep and they do not deserve good service. Plus, their food is overpriced and mediocre at best.

  • Amanda C.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name... great bar and staff that remember you. The menu has a lot of options from typical bar food to great sandwiches and meals. I'd definitely recommend it to a friend, but most of them already come here! Stop in and check it out for yourself!

  • Amber P.

As far as a place to go get bar food and some drinks, this place is great, especially in the summer when their patio is open. They have a very large menu, appetizers, sandwiches, salads, meals, etc. been here 10+ times and have enjoyed everything we've ordered. The crabby fries are really good. Full disclosure though, I have to give only 4 stars because the inside does almost have a dungy smell around the bar area. Not enough to ruin a meal or make you leave, but I wouldn't say its a welcoming aroma when you walk in.

  • Howard U.

I went for lunch last sat. I got the Reuben and really enjoyed it. Service was good but I hated their Bloody Mary special. Worst I've ever had. They put mustard in their mix? I wanted one with hit sauce instead of horse radish and was told they already had their own mix with the horseradish. It was weird. It's was nice eating outside on a spring day. I'd go back. Just won't order the Bloody Mary again.

  • Allysa B.

Great service, very friendly, clean and professional atmosphere. Great food, of course. You can just about order whatever you'd like & however you'd like it! The prices are phenomenal. Also, one of the best places (if not the best) to dine outside during the spring, summer or fall!

Love the grilled hot corned beef on rye - yum : )

  • Courtney G.

I went here a couple weeks ago while i was shopping at Main St at Exton. The outside area looked nice but it was so hot out my boyfriend and I opted to sit inside. There were signs stating that a renovation was going on but the place did not look like an appetizing place to eat at. The bathrooms were horrible and not clean at all. Overall, the look made me feel uncomfortable. Then when the food came out it was okay, but I think the overall appearance skeeved me out so much that I lost my appetite.

  • lee c.

while their tap includes magic hat no.9 (my all-time favorite brew), i can't really say that i like this place all that much. some pluses include: they typically have live entertainment, though its not always the best... they have a ton of tv's to watch whatever game is going on. and good bar food. the minuses: typically way too crowded, and always too loud. don't plan on having much conversation. all in all its a fairly typical sports bar for this area.

    (3)
  • Statia M.

This is a typical sports bar with "eh" food, except it's in the middle of an upscale shopping complex. It's ALWAYS packed and loud. It's not the worst place I've eaten, but is overpriced for what you get. It's nice if you want to just sit outside in the summer, have a beer and a burger, but otherwise, you can do the same thing 10 minutes away in West Chester and get better food for your money.

    (2)
  • Russ C.

It gets one more star in the summer when you can sit outside. This bar is smokey and the crowd can be trashy. Personally I think the food is terrible, but they serve it late so sometimes it is convenient. If you do go, go when it is warm out, but don't expect too much of a view, as the "patio" is basically a walkway between other stores.

What started out as a 20 min wait for a waitress on a beautiful sunny day and outside seating actually ended up as a good lunch. We were going to walk out after waiting unsuccessfuly for someone to take our order. The manager stopped us on the way out and was very sorry for the wait. He said he would make it right, and he did. A waitress came right over took our order and our food came out in like 5 min. He was very concerned about our experience and wanted to fix it. Any place where the mgmt cares that much is worth going back too because they will improve... Food was very good. And the evil eye pa (beer) was out of this world...

After I posted a review regarding a negative experience I had at Appetites on Main, the manager got in touch with me immediately and invited me back to try it again. I had a much, much better experience the second time around. Our waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable about all of their beers and the menu. I had the flat bread pizza, which was pretty good, but not quite what I was expecting, and the warm apple pie with ice cream, which was great. I really appreciate the management of Appetites taking the time to get in touch with me and apologizing for my previous experience. Good service really makes all the difference!

I have been there for lunch and dinner. The food is what you would expect for a bar. I wanted to give it a couple of chances plus it was close to work. However, I ordered take out at lunch time during the week. They weren't busy and it took a really long time just to get a burger and fries. The burger was ok and the fries were mush. I had a sandwich when I had lunch with some friends and I couldn't even finish it. It just didn't taste right. It had an odd flavor. I was there with a group of friends and the service wasn't great. Considering how much people we originally were intending on getting, there would have been a considerable tip but I think she wasn't interested in a big group. So after our initial round of drinks we paid the bill and went down the street. We won't be going back.

This bar in the Main Street at Exton shopping center is a great place to hang out - especially in the warmer months when they have their outdoor seating open. They have a pretty big menu - mostly your typical bar food but with some surprises, like blackened ahi tuna. The reuben sandwich is my standby and the best one I've had at any place in the area. The slider version of it is good as well. When the outdoor seating is not open, the place can get pretty crowded (mostly on weekends) and the indoor seating is pretty tight in the front of the house. There's extra seating in the back which is fine but there's not much atmosphere back there. If you're going with a large group, they will accept reservations. They have live music or DJs on most weekends. They also have free WIFI. Appetites has a full service bar, but they also have a number of rotating craft beers on tap or bottles. I think their selection could be better on this, but maybe I'm just spoiled by the other great breweries and beer bars in the area.

Ah yes, I remember when we first discovered Appetites on Main - it was the infamous day when we found out that Freskada "closed". Ok, it didn't actually close (it just changed its name: facebook.com/Freskada/po… ), but we didn't realize that at the time. We were expecting to eat lunch at Freskada, so when we saw the changing scenery at its location, we, at first, didn't know what to do with our hungry selves. Appetites on Main saved us from leaving Main Street with bitter memories. It was crowded-ish for a Sunday afternoon, but that made sense since the game was on (please don't ask me which one - I don't know how to answer questions like that sometimes. Just ask me about food hehe). We sat next to the bar in a cozy nook. We were HUNGRY, so we ordered right away, and were completely satisfied with our blackened ahi tuna app and my chicken italiano sandwich. Omnomnom....the day could have continued on without a satisfying bite before encountering Appetites on Main, but it actually SAVED us from a dissatisfying Sunday. Thank you, Appetites on Main! We will be back!

I haven't been here in a couple of months and then my boyfriend and I decided to come in for some wings. We were a little worried to go out for wings because we've had some awful wings in West Chester. Our experience at Appetites was phenomenal. We ordered wings and nachos and they were both delicious. Our service was amazing. As soon as our drinks were empty our waitress was over to our table right away to ask if we would like a refill. She was so knowledgable about the menu and the specials. We will be going back very soon to have another wonderful experience.

I've been to appetites many times while shopping in the area and was never overly impressed by the food. Not long ago I tried the hot dogs (I never get hot dogs in restaurants - that seems weird), but I was pleasantly surprised! They were actually super good. It's now my go-to place for a hotdog, fries and a soda, because sometimes that's what you're in the mood for. So I'm happy to say my most recent visit there was a good one.

    (4)
  • Dustin H.

My girlfriend was in the mood for a burger, and as always, wanted to sit outside. We found Appetizers On Main online and figured we would give it a shot. There was plenty of parking around back and the patio was buzzing with activity. One thing to note is that they do allow dogs on the patio which is where we sat. The service was decent even though they seemed quite busy. The beer selection was adequate, and the food was just what we were in the mood for. If you're looking for a good place to grab a beer and a burger while you take in some sun rays, Appetites On Main is as good as spot as any. Something tells me we'll be back again and again.

Nacho were microwaved and soggy service excellent food horrible and draft beer flat asked for blue cheese with wings got ranch. It has been years since we last visited and unless we forget this will be our last visit.

He chose the Bacon Philly Cheese Steak with Shoestring fries, which looked just like regular fries. They were delicious and seasoned perfectly. I chose the Reuben sandwich as my splurge with their house chips. I had to wait to eat my food so I snacked on chips as I fed the baby and then ate the sandwich while Ryan held her. The chips were delicious and perfectly crunchy and hardly oily at all. The Reuben was delicious but messy. I wished I had ordered it as a wrap. There was music playing in the background and there were lots of families and friends with their dogs. We will definitely be back. It took use 15 minutes to decide what we wanted to eat because the restaurant has such an extensive list. Ryan definitely said he thought we found our pub. Good thing because it is in our area and it is a quick drive. If you are in town for a visit it is worth a try!

  • Dr Z.

Not a bad place. Great pastrami sandwich! As for the bar? Not bad but if you go during happy hour but there is a group of regulars there and there is this ONE...that won't shut up!!! He basically holds court and talks really loudly so everyone can hear him. Acting as if he owns the place. I heard one of the regulars calling him a "comedian" and they all laugh at his dumb jokes but he's probably one of the most annoying people I've ever seen. And he's an authority on EVERYTHING. You know the type. He's so annoying that if he's there I just turn around and walk out. Manager should tell him to shut his pie hole or kick him out.,

  • Webdy L.

I live in the area and had a taste for a good hotdog. We gave this place a try, I give it 1 star only for the food. The service, well to be frank, sucked. From the moment we sat down the waitress showed us no consideration. The party next to us came in 15 minutes after we did, they ordered before us and had food before us. We had to summon he manager twice just to get something. I will not recommend or go back to this place.

Best Reuben EVER! Can't wait for the warmer weather to be able to enjoy the outdoor patio again.

Appetites on Main is located in Exton in a very nice shopping area, which is nice to be able to walk off some calories after you've eaten. Parking is ample and outdoor seating is available. I recently had lunch with my sister there and ordered a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich and added the egg. The salad was large, the chicken was cut into bite sized pieces. The mild sauce had a nice kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Our server was very sweet. She was training and did a great job. She was very attentitive. I've eaten there a couple times when I'm in Exton shopping. They have a great beer selection, drink specials just about every day and they also have entertainment ranging from poker, trivia, and a live DJ. I've never been there at night, so I'm not sure what the night scene is like, but it seems that they offer entertainment for their patrons. Great overall experience and I imagine I'll be back when I return to Exton for a shopping excursion.

The food was good however I would be careful if you're using a credit/debit card! My coworkers and I went to eat there for the first time in September and our identities were stolen! We also had a customer tell us that his identity was stolen to after ours were! So BE CAREFUL!

I've been to Appetites on Main dozens of times, but it's just really been going down hill. Aside from the outside patio, there's no real reason to come here. The servers here are extremely rude! Last time I was there they girl handed me a drink and the cup was all dirty with stuck on food. I said excuse me to me give it back to her but she was gone and didn't come back for about five minutes... So when I told her my cup was gross she just said oh and took it away. The time before I got flat bread pizza ... When really what I got was just pizza on dough they tried to roll out to be "flat" ... I tired explaining that flat bread was a real thing and that this wasn't what I was expecting. Again the waitress just looked at me, said that this was their version, and took it away. Basically they're allowed to be crummy servers here. Also, it reeks of chlorine in the restaurant! I have a strong sense of smell and I can't stand it.. I have to sit outside if I'm there. And it's not just a one time deal.... It always smells like that! Long story short... Don't bother.. Just head into WC and get something good to eat, provided with good service from somewhere else.

  • Joe C.

Generic for a sports bar; generic for a pub. Generic food. Service is alternately aloof and incompetent. Unbelievably loud. Overpriced. I can't see this place doing business if it didn't have its Main Street location but, then again, this is Exton, the wasteland of quality dining in Chesco. Not a fan.

    (2)
  • Adam A.

Appetites on Main never impressed with me their food or the service. BUT with that being said however, after voicing my concerns to the owner, I was greatly impressed with the turnaround. He offered his apologies for my bad service and opinions, and completely turned my opinion around. He obviously cares about his customers. I am definitely going to go and give them another try! With that being said, we tried it again and got charged for a side of honey mustard (I have NEVER seen that). And got charged for substituting chips for fries! 99% of meals come with fries anyway. Unfortunately my assumptions of the past rang true again...ridiculous upcharges...and not friendly waitresses.

  • Jesse M.

The best reuben sandwich ever!! Not one you can eat often but still amazing!! The service was quick and very attentive. My wife liked the cheeseburger salad...yeah a salad with a cheeseburger on it...something different yet very tasty!

  • Matt K.

When you step into this place, it looks like every other sports bar in the country. Drab decor plastered with beer signs and lots of TV screens. All the TV's were running with the volume off so that the bar could play music. None of the TV's had the text that you see at the bottom of the screen for the hearing-impaired. So the TV's were basically useless, since no games were on. A lot of locals apparently hang out here, and unfortunately the bartender did not treat me like one. Service was adequate, however. She brightened up a LOT when the check came, smiling and thanking me, etc. Had a burger with an onion ring on it and their "special" sauce. Sauce was ok, burger was underdone, but in a place like this I don't sweat it because it is likely that if I sent it back, the bartender would return with a charred hockey puck. The fries were not hot and not salty. You can apply salt to a fry if it's greasy, but if it isn't, the salt just bounces off. Such was the case here, bouncing salt. But no grease, which is good. Nothing horribly wrong here, but there are so many more interesting places to eat in this mall.

Terrific food and drinks for a night out from a family-owned establishment. This was a great experience, and in fact we held my 30th birthday here, the food was amazing and the staff was great! They catered for our 40+ guest party and did a wonderful job. The owner and the management were very attentive with everyone including the chilldren. The food included normal bar food but also had homemade bites and sandwiches, that all of our guests were pleased and enjoyed everything as they continued to go for seconds. Going just for a quick bite or hanging out later for the DJ or Karaoke is worh it as well. Excellent bartenders and wait staff make the experience well worth it. Dancing is allowed and encouraged and they even have takeout beer and food.

Me and my girlfriend went to this place just last week to try out some bar food. We actually live in Manhattan but work in PA and this restaurant had a pretty good look and feel... after sitting on their uncomfortable plastic chairs, the only hope and joy that I was waiting to get was from their food. The lady ordered a crab cake and I ordered a pastrami sandwich... both were extremely horrible. The pastrami sandwich was so greasy that I felt nausea-tic by the time I finished half the sandwich. My girlfriend couldn't finish her crab cake either. Ambiance is alright but the food is horrible.

Stopped in while running errands with my daughter. We were greetly warmly and quickly ushered to our seats and wobbly table outside on a beautiful day. AFter constructing the folded napkin wedge, a guy, believed to be our waiter, stopped over and mumbled something along the lines of drinks. We went out on a limb and told him we'd have a couple sodas. Sure enough, he came back with them so we went under the prmise, he was our waiter. We had already read the menu and took another risk and told him what we wanted for lunch. He mumbled (literally) a couple unintelligible things so we had to ask multiple questions. He really seemed like he was either forced to be there, perhaps on some "work/release" program or he was having a really, really bad day. He showed NO emotion, NO caring and NO personality. All of the really important qualities of a good waiter. Eventually we received our food and it was pretty goo. I had the burger that was cooked the way I ordered, crispy, fresh fries. My daughter ahd a sandwich that she picked apart. Said it was good but I think she was distracted by the waiter's sullen mood. We had also started with the bacon cheese fries which were very good. I give the service a very low 1 star on this visit and the food was a 3 star (what I expected from a pub like stop)

Like some of the other reviews, I've been here several times. I do take out and also eat in. I have a go to sandwich that I order each time I am there. Depending on who cooking, it can be a pretty good sandwich, It can be better on some night compared to others. When doing take out, take a peak at you order. I have had a few times where it wasn't how I wanted it.. I'd go back, not all the time...but a little here and there.

Went here a little over a month ago for a going away dinner for a coworker. Recently three people who also attended, had fraud charges to their credit card in which they used to pay at Appetites. Was the only time recently that we all were at the same place and the only people who paid using a credit card got their information stolen. If I ever do go back to Appetites, I will pay in cash. That is, if I even go at all anymore.

This place has a great happy hour that I believe changes on a daily basis. We came to try the cheesesteaks (I'm on a mission to try as many different joints during my 10 day stay in Philly), but the Nola fries were the star. The front of the restaurant/bar was packed from fans watching the Eagles game. Fortunately, there was seating in the very back that was much quieter and not so claustrophobic. I guess if your a huge sports fan, this place would be the shiznit. Service was not bad - but could have been better (again, I attribute this to the Eagles game). We ordered the full order of Nola fries - chunks of crab and cheese all over crispy fries. Fries don't get better than this. I'm sorry carne asada fries. I've found a new friend. The steaks were pretty good - we ordered the gourmet cheesesteak and a plain chicken cheesesteak. These were large enough to share between 3 hungry people and then some. They came with incredibly addictive housemade potato chips. The tab came out to be 40 bucks. Stick to the Happy Hour menu - cheesesteaks for $5. Happy Hunting.

Appetites is great for a place to get a quick bite or to sit outside and enjoy people watching. Yes, it can be loud but it's a lot of fun. I was thrown a surprise party here and the wait staff was great!! Happy hour is fun and the food is decent - typical pub food, but good.

Good bar to sit outside and enjoy the breeze (though the view is nothing much to speak of - the side of another store). Food is overpriced and underquality and the taps are nothing to write home about. Crowded, loud and smoky inside. Lots of TV's if you don't dig conversation. Basically the same deal as Applebee's or TGI Fridays as far as I'm concerned. If you want better food and outdoor seating head over to Brickside, Kooma or Teca. Alright, so the other night we were beginning to cook dinner and the lights went off, then on, then off, and then they stayed off. So we dumped out the not quite boiling water for the pasta and headed out to dinner. We selected Appetite's on Main in Exton. Years ago when I worked full-time my department used to call the original Appetite's in Wayne and get order after order of chicken fingers(with real white-meat chicken!) and waffle fries, with a delish honey mustard. So we had our 4 year old daughter in tow, and we walked into a pretty smoky place - we sat away from the bar, but it was still kinda smoky - butcha can't worry about everything. I had the ol' chicken fingers and fries, which was $9?!?! That's crazy. My husband had a chicken cheesesteak, which had a mystery item in it - we believe(hope!) it was chicken skin. He enjoyed it after removing the offending bit. My daughter didn't enjoy her grilled cheese(although I did), but had no trouble scarfing some of my chicken fingers. The honey mustard used to be tangy sweet - this time it was just sweet. It needed a bit of dijon to kick it up. The raspberry iced tea was a bit sweet for my taste, but not bad overall. The service was very attentive - so good points for that. Our bill was $39 - for a kids grilled cheese/fries, chicken fingers/french fries and a cheesesteak, oh and one beer. Sigh - that is ridiculous for bar food in the suburbs. And yes, the power was back on when we got home - hurrah!

I went here a little while ago. The food was OK. It has that obvious really American style of food, like hamburgers and fries and stuff. It wasn't bad fast food quality but I didn't prefer it. The hamburger tasted really well done, almost burned when I asked for it to be more on the medium-well side, it tasted just too cooked, period. The waitstaff was just OK, they weren't very attentive and not very helpful. Also, the outdoor seating is pretty awkward and from what I remember, pretty crowded too. I felt like my outdoor table was so close to everyone else, there was little to no privacy. Also, just to forewarn people who think you'll be getting a better seat outside away from the bar rather than inside, the outdoor seating is not only crowded but all you can see are the cars passing by 40 feet away and all the other stores on Main street. And when we first walked into the place, we weren't even greeted or helped immediately - since I guess because there is a sports bar in the front of it, they were too busy there to bother helping us right away. Oh well.

I ordered a burger which was okay, nothing special. The macaroni and cheese was like what you would get out of a kraft macaroni and cheese box, very disapointing. The fruit salad was good though! Not sure if I would eat there again.

What an amazing night last Saturday! Great beer, delicious Reuben, all while hanging out on the patio with friends. Can't beat it.

Exton is a quiet little suburb, just west of the main line and north of West Chester. Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) is a busy commercial strip that cuts through the heart of Exton, and at the southern end of town there is a shopping plaza designed, apparently, to re-create a "Main Street" feel of an imagined yesterday. It is a rather pleasant place to shop and dine, even if it is kind of "Disney Does a Mall." Almost two years ago, I visited "The Shops at Main Street" for the first time with my daughter. We were tired and hungry and saw no inspiring choices; we chose Appetites on Main more for the outdoor seating than for the promise of its menu; it looked like one more indistinctive hash slinger trying to re-create the food and atmosphere of a sports bar. Against my better judgment, I ordered a cheesesteak. I had been eating at all the best places in Philly, such as Chink's, John's Roast Pork, and Tony Luke's, as well as the very fine local fare at West Chester's The Pepper Mill. Well, much to my astonishment, it was excellent! The roll was authentic, with some crunch and some chewiness. The meat and cheese (I think I got aged provolone) blended smartly with the grilled onions. With a side of freshly-made crunchy hot thick potato chips, it was a terrific if high-calorie meal. About six months ago, I went back and dined inside. Once again I ordered the cheesesteak, and once again it was excellent. Someone in the kitchen knows the value of good ingredients and quality fresh bread. Bravo! Over the July 4 week, we returned again. This time, I ventured out and selected the roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe and aged provolone. My daughter ordered a deli sandwich and substituted a side of deep fried green beans for the standard chips. She enjoyed her sandwich and was kind enough to share the beans. Served with a tomato-ey mayo dipping sauce, they were a decadent delight. The roast pork sandwich, alas, was a failure. The foundation was good -- a nice Philly style roll, lightly toasted. Sadly, that ends the highlights. The broccoli rabe was laid in the sandwich in long stalks. If you aren't going to chop it up, you have to cook it tender. But I could not bite through it, and it just pulled out of the roll on each bite. I had to remove it and eat it with a fork. Sin number two was that they used conventional deli provolone, not the sharp aged stuff I had on my cheesesteak in a prior visit. Could that have been intentional? Worst of all, though, was the fact that the pork tasted, errrr, old. It was not spoiled and I did not become ill later, but I guess it had been in the freezer too long. They must not get many orders for the roast pork. This was such a sharp contrast to the roast pork sandwich at John's Roast Pork in South Philly, where there is a simmering pot of incredible pork going all the time and it turns over like mad. On the plus side, the chips on the side were excellent. I won't let this one failed sangawtich spoil this place for me. They've done such a nice job overall that I can overlook one bad meal. I will drop them down from 9 stars to 8, and see what my next visit brings. I am Pizza Quixote!

Food is actually pretty good but wow this place sucks if you actually want too talk to the person sitting a ft away from you crappy live bands that sound like they are drunk and small area does not help! You could sit outside but not much better. if it wasn't for everything else I would give this 31/2 stars

I have been there several times and there were no surprises. If it is a bar and grill food you want, you come to the right place. It's outdoor patio dinning is wonderful especially on a nice evening. However, you would expect a short wait on Friday night. The indoor decor is quite present with plenty of TVs to keep up with the latest sport events. The music/speakers were a little loud probably because they were set for both indoor and outdoor. The wait staffs were very efficient and quite pleasant. Drinks and food were served promptly with no mistake even on a busy night. Our group of 4 order drinks and sandwiches and they are decent portion for the price. Overall, it's a quick in-and-out place if you don't want to hang around drinking or chatting with friends. Within an hour you could be on your way to a nice stroll around the Exton Main Street to work out what you just ate.

I have never seen a set up reviews so uniformly correct on Yelp. The only great thing about this place is the wonderful outdoor dining area that is charming on a nice night. Unfortunately, I do not like eating outside, nor did I like the smoke (which you can smell from inside this restaurant since the doors are left open and people come in and out often). Although I personally do not enjoy the outdoor dining, it was the only reason I rounded my star rating up to 2. But it barely made the round up. :p The noise level was very high, and the place was packed (seriously, it baffles my mind to no end). The tables were tiny, it was barely big enough for 2 takeout containers and 4 cups. By the time we had dessert, we had to eat over our takeout containers, which were hanging half off the table. The service was half decent. Our waitress was very attentive and was not impatient with us even though we asked for more time to order 3 times (we had restaurant.com coupons and had to do some serious math). However, the food was terribly slow getting to us and brought by a random other person and not by our waitress. Now to lambast the food. My friend ordered shoestring fries and a jumbo chicken steak (no cheese). I tried his food (I know the rule of no 2nd hand reviews :) ), and the fries were not really "shoestring" thin in my opinion. About as thick as your average Burger King, McD or Wendy's fries. However, they were fried very nicely and crisp. That is where anything really positive about the food ends. The chicken steak was huge, but the chicken was rather dry and completely not seasoned. I ordered their chef's special of Italian Sweet Sausage with special aged provolone, roasted peppers and onions. I also ordered a side of sweet potato shoestring fries. The fries (and come on, who doesn't like sweet potato anything?) were mealy, and tasteless. There were no seasonings, not even salt on this. The Italian Sweet Sausage sandwich was similarly and eerily totally tasteless. No, seriously, completely tasteless. The onions and roasted peppers had no taste and were very sloppily wet, which caused the bread to get soggy. Even the cheese wasn't salty. And the big crazy question is how do you screw up sausage?!?!?!? I can't imagine that the sausage was not pre-made. Every sausage I had ever tasted has been extremely salty to me, this had no seasonings and no salt. My dinner companion did not believe me, that the sausage was bad, until I cut off a small piece and let him try it. He was stunned by how tasteless it was. We ordered the chef's specialty of waffles and ice cream for dessert. It was HUGE. It had about 6 scoops of ice cream and it was huge. We ran into the 2 people eating next to us later when we ran over to Walmart and they even remarked on how we should have offered to share it with them. Yes, it was that big! Hahaha Unfortunately, this is the perfect dessert for 5 people, none of whom has any taste buds. The ice cream was okay, nothing special. However, there was too much hot fudge and not enough caramel on the sundae. The biggest turnoff though was the waffle. The thing was like a giant dried cookie. There was no softness to the waffle, which to me is the best part of a waffle, and it was stone cold. One had to chip and break off pieces with the spoon. The final insult to injury was how expensive everything was. Honestly, there are about a million places that you could get much better food for about 40% less on the price. It needs to be repeated that it completely confounds me as to why so many people eat here. Well, in the future I certainly won't be one of them.

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
