Wish I could review the food, but I never had a chance to get served. Walked is the only party at 11 PM on a Saturday night. Literally, we were the only people in the place. Ordered a simple appetizer and 2 entrees. 15 minutes later our bread plate came out along with 2 waters. 15 minutes after that still no food. I left 5 bucks on the table and let them know we were happy just grabbing a pizza across the street. Based on the reviews here, the food sucks...well, if you catch it at the right time (apparently), the service/speed is even worse. Never again. Learn how to run a restaurant or don't open one.

The food is OK here (typical diner fare). But what's good about this place is that it's HUGE. As a result, you can find seating pretty quickly, even on the busiest of days.

We stopped here on a slow July 5th and had a surprisingly good experience - even though it was clear that the manager is a jerk and most of the waitresses hate their jobs. My french onion soup was actually good - not overly salted and full of beef stock and roasted onions - melted cheese and crisp crouton. No issues. DH ordered a short stack (3 pancakes) and they were fluffy and hot (not leaden!) and served with cheap-a$$ syrup. Not a holy grail but we were pleasantly surprised. Steven B. is an accurate source of info., though - so next time we'll head to a different place. We stopped here when very hungry and the place was nearly empty.

This restaurant pretty much echoes the surrounding area: gets the job done, but pretty unspectacular. Having never been to PA and visiting some local friends, I decided to try the local diner. Scrapple is an entirely new thing for me, so that's what I went with. Not bad, but the gravy was a little overwhelming. Service was fair, and the decor is very dated. It'll work in a pinch, but I would take the time to find something (anything) else nearby.

I ate here tonight, and it was great. I don't understand the poor reviews, but I've only been here once. The crabmeat over spinach salad was fresh and delicious. The fried calamari was tasty and tender and the appetizer portion is huge enough for a dinner in itself. My friend's turkey burger looked great, and she got a huge side of sweet potato fries, which I tasted and were yummy. The waitress was attentive and sweet. It's a tad pricey, but the other area diners are comparable. I will definitely be there again. I'm mystified by the other reviews.

I'm passionate about patronizing local businesses so I go here from time to time and keep hoping and praying they'll change. Unfortunately they don't. They're surviving because they have a decent location and are open 24/7. Every time I visit I experience mediocre food, service, and atmosphere. By the way, don't let the pastry case fool you. The selections look beautiful but the ingredients are not high quality so the taste is definitely substandard. If you are thinking about this place you're likely on West Chester Pike. Do yourself a favor and keep on driving. You won't need to go far. Luckily for you there two other great diner choices and one is in each direction. As I'm a helpful kind of guy, I'll give you a hand with the directions. Go two miles west and you'll find the Hot Spot Diner. It's on the same side of the street as the Country Squire. It's not open 24/7 but they do have extended hours and you'll have a much much better meal. What if you prefer to head east? Travel 3.5 miles to the route 1 intersection and turn left. As soon as you turn you'll be staring at Llanerch Diner. This place is a Delaware County institution and is open 24/7. Once again you'll enjoy a much better meal. So if you decide to try one of my alternative choices your taste buds will thank you!

Close to $70 for three people at this diner. Basic meals. Waitress didn't know the menu... sent food back twice. As far as food quality goes, you're better off going to the ACME and getting a bag of dog food. Never again! ps. We had a coupon and their register didn't deduct properly... by a significant amount. Glad I did the math.

Went for breakfast. Not bad, not great however eggs and pancakes are hard to mess up. Place is not very clean, bathroom smells like urine and cake case in the front looked dirty.

This Diner is very spacious and can accommodate large groups. It is handicap accessible and has plenty of parking available on their lot. We were seated immediately and the server was on hand to get our orders. Our food arrived in a timely manner. The Golden waffle was warm, huge and delicious accompanied with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. I wish I could rave about the Corn Beef Hash, but alas! you're not missing much! The hash was so salty and tasted like it came straight from the can and not made from scratch. Potatoes does not come with your breakfast platter, just the toast. If you want potatoes, they charge you extra...bummer! Prices on the breakfast menu is very reasonable. I just wished that they made sure that their food was seasoned properly. I give it a thumbs down! I would rather spend my money somewhere else.......

To even call this place a diner is an insult which speaks volumes as my expectations of diner fare are not that high. My friend and I went on a Saturday night around dinner time because we were starving from driving around all day. We were greeted immediately and sat down. My friend and I ordered the french onion soup which was good. She ordered the portobello burger for $10.50 and it came out as an average size burger with mushrooms atop and that's it no fries or offering of any side with it. My friend then asked the waitress where her fries are (as one person with common sense would think a burger or sandwich for $10 comes with chips or fries) and the waitress said no no fries come with it. My friend then ordered fries and was charged $2.79 for them. They don't even have a decent up charge option to add a side. What restaurant charges over $10 for a burger with no fries included. My daughter ordered chicken fingers (kids size) and it came out with 2 little chicken fingers - I was so appalled as the kids meal cost $7.99 I just would have expected something more, they were tiny and she was starving. The waitress said well her meal comes with a cupcake too though and I have been to plenty diners that charge $5 and under for kids meal that comes with a dessert and is way better. My daughter gets her cupcake and it was old and hard (rock hard) I was so shocked she pretty much had fun smushing the cupcake into her plate. The service wasn't that great - waitress wasn't personable, we had to wait long time for food. The funny thing is they weren't even busy I could count how many tables there were on one hand which should have gave me the sign to run like hell when I arrived during prime time dinner hour on a weekend The bathrooms were disgusting and dirty. Restaurant was dated. I would never go back there again.

This place is complete rubbish! Do not eat here! Food is over priced and the staff is incompetent. The new england clam is barely edible overly lemoned with hints fishyness. The menu will make your eyes cross. The fish and chips were tolerable had to ask multiple times for lemon as it did not come with it. The ham entree had one slab of ham and red eye gravy which was 10$ with a side of mac and cheese. The red eye gravy was seriously lacking. The cheese stick burger came out cold and missing the marinara sauce it was supposed to be served with. Burger temp is not something they concerned with and they wont cook it the way you want it anyway. For 10$ it came with 3 pickle slices no chips. The bill came we requested it be separated they said it could not be separated. After a few minutes of discussion with the lady at the register she said we had to wait for the bill to be sperated by the manager... our waitress then came over and said she could separate it. All and all it was not a well run business that is over priced and not good.

Food was not impressive (even for my tempered expectations) and over priced. I'd rather patron the big L (llanerch) or the hot spot instead of this diner in the future.

The ambiance and service is typical diner, however the food was just awful. My order of eggs benedict was bland. The hollandaise was thick and undercooked. I could almost taste the raw flour of the roux, causing me to have to salt my food to make it edible. The homefries that came with the dish were literally inedible. They were bitter, alternating between undercooked and burnt and swimming in oil. They definitely were not freshly made and they tasted microwaved. The hot chocolate I ordered was okay, but after finishing it, I found a thick sludge of undissolved sugar at the bottom which was unnerving. My dining companion ordered the chicken-fried steak and eggs. The waitress brought him a grilled steak instead with no comment about his actual order. It was a major disappointment. We will not be returning.

Saturday - 12/29/2012 - 9:30 AM then 10:15 PM I return to this place because of its convenient locale. About 2 months ago on a Sunday I ventured in after a satisfying workout at the Planet Fitness in Broomall. It was about 11:30 PM. The open-24- hours sign shined prominently. I sat at the counter. I was about half through my snack and heard a splash beneath my seat. They were washing the floor in preparation to CLOSE! The server announced that they close early on weekends due to economic downturn. When I mentioned the 24 hour sign she admitted the management didn't bother to address that issue. I gingerly walked through the wet floor and complained to the owner/manager/cashier about my treatment. He didn't care. 9:30 AM - I had breakfast with my son....bad food.....bad idea. 10:15 PM - A friend and I wanted to have coffee and cake. We were "rewarded" with mediocre tea and bad.....very bad...mock lemon meringue pie. On the way out...I gave the same cashier/manager/owner/ a severe chastising about my experience two months ago, the breakfast with my son, and the mock lemon meringue pie. I finished with firm disgust of how badly this place deteriorated. His response was unsatisfactory. Will I return? My evaluation and rating should be a strong indicator.

I had breakfast here with my friend this morning and I've never felt so rushed. The place wasn't busy and after finishing our meal we were discussing a lot of things. After receiving multiple dirty looks and being rushed we went to pay. The cashier over heard us discussing my friends up coming wedding (she's engaged to a marine). The cashier asked how old she was and she replied I'll be 20. The nasty cashier proceeded to tell us that she shouldn't get married young because she will get divorced young. Due to that fact that she's my best friend I felt the need to defend her and replied her fiancé is a marine so it's a lot different. She said yeah it is but don't get married young. Who says that to a military fiancé. Her soon to be husband protects your freedom to say stupid things like that. I will never go back there after experiencing that. The worst customer service I've ever experienced at a diner.

There was a time when I highly enjoyed this place, but that was 6 years ago. I hadn't been back here in a while, but we were in the area tonight and I needed a new place to talk about on Yelp. Yes, it has gotten to the point where I am deciding to go to places because I haven't Yelped them. Thank you, Yelp, for permeating my brain to the point where you make decisions for me. I've seen some negative reviews here, and I just think that it is par for the course for most diners anymore. There are so many dishes to choose from that I might have something that I liked, where you might have had something that stunk. It's near impossible to have perfect quality control on a menu with a lot of choices. For instance, if I had the turkey burger at the Springfield Diner the first time I went there, I'd probably think the whole place sucked too. But since I had may good dishes there previously, the bad burger gets chalked up to a rare experience. Diners just have to live with that curse. Tonight, I just so happened to find something I liked. The Southwestern Turkey Chili had a good texture and flavor to it. For $8.99 for a big bowl, cup of soup, and a veggie choice, you can't beat that. The wife did OK with a chicken salad club sandwich. I took a bite, and noticed the bacon had a good kick to it. So there are positive sides to this place. Your experience may vary. If I had to rank it, I'd rank it above Hot Spot down the street, but definitely behind the Llanerch and Springfield Diners.

You would think they can't mess up breakfast right?! Well, they can! Simply not good. Dried out scrambled eggs and nasty homefries/bacon.Springfield Diner is much better for breakfast! This place used to be good a very very long time ago, like 30+ years ago, back when I was a little kid! Just isn't the same place anymore.

Haven't been here for years. When I lived in Havertown, I went there once or twice a month. The food used to be great so I looked forward to a quick meal. I stopped by with a friend around 7:30 PM Friday night - the place was empty except for a few tables with diners. Hmmmmm, this place used to be jumping in the past. Anyway, I ordered a brie, spinach and roasted pepper hamburger, medium rare and she ordered a mushroom burger medium, along with a side of onion rings. After a 15 minute wait, out came the burgers. Where are the onion rings? I asked. They will be right out, I was assured. Well both burgers were medium well-done and the bun was, shall I say, "firm" to the touch. I wouldn't say stale but I doubt if it came in that day. Oh yes, the onion rings. 5 minutes later, we received a plate of greasy (dripping) and burnt onion rings. If you want to see a photo of this "artfully arranged" mess of rings just the way we received them, check out my profile page. You won't believe it. I could just imagine our server in the back screaming "where are my friggin onion rings?" and the cook saying "oh, Jesus, I forgot - here...I'll just scoop them from the fryer right onto a plate without draining them. Oh yeah, gotta remember to change the oil - looks really bad. Needless to say, it was my last visit.

This place is good for one thing: soaking up the drunk the next day. It's greasy but not poorly done food. I've only eaten brunch here so I can't speak to anything else. The place is kinda gross - looks like no one's cleaned the booth seats in a couple decades. Nasty old school rotating pie displays. The food was fine for what it was. The potatoes didn't have much flavor. The eggs Benedict was bland - which doesn't make sense - it was just okay. but if you want something that is slightly less terrible for your body than McDonald's or whatever, this is the place to go. No pressure, show up in your sweats.

GA-ROSSSSSS!!! I ordered ONE blueberry pancake and scrapple. The lovely waitress instead brought me FIVE blueberry pancakes and told me "You can just take the rest to go, hon...." Thanks! (Who takes leftover pancakes home? I don't!) Looking for fresh blueberries? Keep looking. These were the WORST pancakes ever. They drop globs of blueberry mush into the pancake batter and serve em up...so gross. And the scrapple was about 2 inches thick and cooked in the FRYER. I politely sent it back. I wouldn't serve my dogs this stuff!!! The coffee was ok.

Definitely not fine dining, but in my case it's centrally located for a meal with family members. Stick with basic food-- eggs, simple sandwiches, salad-- and you won't be disappointed.

Stay away! Watch out for the mice running in the back of the restaurant and the mold on the strawberry on the strawberry short cake! Sodas are served in small plastic water cups - do they save on refills? Try the Hot Spot if you are in Broomhall or Newtown Square

I always enjoy trying out diner food and this place give diners a bad name. There is a short Italian lady (hostess) that guards the waiting area with a stanchion rope like they use for crowd control at movie theaters. The owners should place the stanchion rope at the exit, not the entrance. The owners trick naïve patrons by creating this quasi crowd control leading customers to think they can keep up with the demand. In reality, putting the stanchion rope at the exit is better to trap the customers from never leaving as this place is lucky there is a demand for their abysmal service. The hostess can barely annunciate guest's names and we almost got passed over. Good thing I said something. On second thought, I probably would have been better off being skipped and eating elsewhere. They charge $2.50 per person per table minimum. Country Squire has some real audacity to charge customers and monetize for seating. You are lucky if patrons even come back for the substandard food and glacially slow service, let alone gouge customers just in case they only order a coffee. If you can overlook this, they charge 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more. Typically, this practice occurs at most normal establishments for parties of 6 or 7. Country Squire is nickel and diming patrons with medium size families and squeeze them. The service doesn't even warrant 18%. The kitchen is slow even after the after church crowd leaves. I ordered a tuna hoagie last week and it took 45 minutes. I was about to ask the server if the cook cast the net to catch the tuna. The server even tried to save face by saying, "I was about ask the kitchen if they were still growing the lettuce and tomatoes". I wasn't laughing and the waitress was conducting damage control to ensure a decent tip at this point. Apparently, the diner only provides you with these plastic kid sized glasses for soda so you are forced to get more than one refill. The trick here is that County Squire charges you after one soda refill. Another device that Country Squire employs to rack up the drink costs. In summary, County Squire is over rated and is a disgrace to the word "diner". If you want better food and service, please try Llanerch Diner. It shouldn't cost close to $70 for a tuna hoagie, crock of soup, cheeseburger, fries and iced tea. Hopefully, the owners go out of business, they go to jail for stealing customer's hard earned money and new management overhauls this place.

Tiny soda glasses (think juice glass) that you only get one refill on!! Not coming back...... I live local too. Get real size glasses, not just for your iced tea!!!!!

It seems to be resting on it's laurels from the 80's and 90's as far as service goes.it can sometimes be slow and inattentive. But food is still good, not great but worth a drive if hungry at 1am. It tends to be pretty pricey and if you get the chipped beef the pieces are microscopic. Still, is s sentimental favorite and i go back once a year

I am going to be that one person going against the grain... but let it be known that once I found my favorite dishes, I have not moved out my comfort zones... Things I loved: - It's a DINER! The point is you order the "all American Comfort Food-like all too familiar" dishes! :) I once sat here for 3 hours... chatting with old friends and the whole time my coffee cup was full and my stomach bulging. :) - The dishes I order... I never venture out beyond mostly breakfast foods... ...the Breakfast wraps (SO MUCH BACON!),.. the eggs (2 eggs over medium/wheat toast), ... the Challah Bread French Toast (SO FLUFFY and filling and delicious), ... Old Bay Fries,... open faced Sandwiches, ... milkshakes, ... Once I got a half a chicken, it was tasty too. - The cookies. I love butter cookies, or whatever they're called. I would say those cookies are comparable to those of the Swiss House on 19th in Center City. (But I wouldn't say the same for some other pastries...) Also they have Cookie Monster and Elmo Cupcakes!! - The price. Really, if you wanted THE BEST EGGS ever, you'd have to pay nearly 10x this, I'm sure. - The staff. I used to go so often, that people greeted me with a smile and a "Hello Honey!" - They're always open. Folks, it's a DINER, not a Steven Starr restaurant. Also, I'm biased because it was like a home-away-from-home for me. But it had to become my favorite place for some reason, right? I don't go as often as I used, but I still have the fondest memories and softest spot in my heart for it. I've had birthday-parties, after-parties, heartfelt moments, heartbroken moments here. I miss it and always try to think of a reason to go.

Throughly mediocre is a somewhat kind term for this diner. While the food doesn't stand out as bad, it is definitely subpar. The servers as friendly and efficient. But between the subpar food and the general malaise of the decor, this place is a definite 'no.' It seems to survive because there isn't anywhere else nearby for a sit-down breakfast or a late night bite.

OMG! This place was scary! My husband and I took our 3 kids there on a Saturday evening after their piano recital for a special treat. Boy were we disappointed! The waitress was rude! The rolls that they gave us were beyond stale! And I mean hard as a rock! (surprising for a place that has its own bakery) My kids Macaroni and cheese was bordering cold. My older son's hamburger was dry and obviously previously frozen My veggie panini was not a panini at all but rather greasy bitter veggies heated up on bread. My husband is the only one that liked his meal ( open-faced hot roast beef). I should say, though, that their french fries were decent. And to top it all off, the waitress automatically added gratuity to our check. when we asked about this at the register, we were informed that somewhere on the menu it states that gratuity is automatically added for parties of 5 or more. Since,we are a family of 5 and go out to eat fairly frequently, this seemed odd to me bc we have never run into this before. I thought it was usually applied for bigger parties is 6 or more. The cashier did remove the gratuity and the waitress got the tip the she really deserved but we will never be going there before!

Terrible ! We went here for a late lunch on Sunday Afternoon. The waiter was rude, rude , rude.. We were a party of 5, four adults and one child. When ask what the shrimp soup was like his reply " I don't know nothin about it , I don't do the shit " What ? He acted as though he hated his job. The onion rings were soggy. My child's chicken fingers were not hot, and they don't serve fry's with the burgers. You have to pay extra for that. The prices are very high for the food you get (Not worth it ). Than the waiter added his own gratuity to our bill of 18 %. We had that taken off and left him the tip he deserved .This man should not even be a waiter. The drinking glasses are child size , and you have to pay for the refill. The last time I ate here the food was great . That was about 6 years ago . What happened ? The owners became greedy and uncaring . Cutting the portions , raising the price , and hiring unprofessional staff. It's all about profit quantity , not quality and it really shows.

This place has really gone down hill. We went for breakfast and we will never go back. I got pancakes and bacon. The bacon was not recognizable seriously I was not sure what it was supposed to be. It looked like the sole of a shoe! My pancakes were also not fresh and appeared to have been microwaved. My son got pancakes also and his were freshly made, I think! We have tried and tried to give this diner a chance and have been disappointed each time. We will not be back!

A few friends and I came here for a very late night snack (after a night of dancing). I ordered the buffalo wings, vanilla milkshake and an apple dumpling for dessert. The buffalo wings were an amazing texture, still crispy, but fall off the bone tender and extremely meaty. Unfortunately, I detested the buffalo sauce, it was too tangy and spicy for me. But the bleu cheese sauce served with the wings were the most amazing sauce I have ever had! They put garlic into a chunky bleu cheese sauce. Mmmm! Be warned, if you are hungry like we were, this dish takes quite a while to prepare. The vanilla milkshake was rather disappointing, it was too soupy and very watered down and not very tasty. I picked to have an apple dumpling for dessert out of a gigantic array of baked goodies in the glass case up front. The apple dumpling was a mixed bag. I think most people would love this dumpling, no mixture involved. But for me, it was not sweet enough. The outside wrapping was an amazing puff pastry. But the apple itself was not sweet enough, and the sauce was also not sweet enough. It was a custardy sauce. The service was super friendly and sweet. Left her a well deserved big tip :).

WORST PLACE EVER! With my busy schedule, convience is a plus, but even if this place is next to my house, which it basically is, I still wouldn't step a foot in it. Save your money and go to mc donalds. Honestly, read the other reviews on the other page for this place, the list of why my friends and I banned this place is posted there. Agh. Don't do it. Go to toms jones instead, they have better food and real bacon.

If I could give this place no stars I would. Went one night with my family of six place was practically empty. Kids ordered pancakes and French toast. 2 of the 3 pancake orders were under cooked, the French toast was nothing like the waitress described and there was hair on the side of bacon. The waitress said in order to not charge for the bad pancakes she would have to take the plates off the table. Like we were trying get away with free meals. They offered new pancakes but we waited 25 minutes for the first set and didn't have time for the new ones. When I went to pay I told the manager how bad the food was and he told me that he looked at the pancakes and they were fine. There was actually batter leaking out of them when we cut them. Told me he had been in the business for 20plus years and they were fine. Have to say the waitress was very nice and very embarrassed by the whole thing so we tipped her the full amount. Been going here probably 25 years not often but enough to know used to be awesome diner.

Country Squire has the largest menu that I have ever seen. So extensive that it can be very confusing. This place has gone through several owners over the years and it shows. The food is bland and mediocre but the staff if definitely helpful and pleasant. It is open 24 hours but still tends to get rather crowded in the evenings and on weekends. If you go, stick with the breakfast selections.

  • Frequent R.

They served me raw eggs! The inside of my omelet was completely raw, with the white of the eggs separating from the cheese. How difficult is it to make an omelet? Do they realize that they could kill someone by serving raw eggs? And to add insult to injury, the server acted as if sending my plate back was an inconvenience. He didn't even apologize, nor did the thirty something manager who was spending more time flirting with the teenage hostess than managing the restaurant. The Country Squire has been a Delco standard for decades. But the frequent changes in ownership and its dirty, dated interior make this a place to avoid. Especially when they cannot even cook an omelet thoroughly. Eat here at your own risk!

  • Danan R.

The menu is quite extensive but the variety doesn't make up for the lack of quality. They have everything from the ubiquitous breakfast platters to an "Asian" stir-fry. The omlettes are okay, but you really can't mess those up. The entrees, such as the lasagna and pastas, were pretty bland and the steaks and roast beef were a bit tough for my taste. This is the only diner in the area, now that the Villanova Diner has been replaced by a bank so it does get plenty of business from my high school alma mater and the rest of the Main Line/Broomall/Springfield schools, especially during formal season. The restaurant itself is huge and the service is pleasant. It just leaves much to be desired, in terms of food quality, but when you head to a diner after a dance, the only thing you are looking for is a place to sit...and maybe some ice cream and fries, which they have plenty of. I want to give it 2.5 stars, but will round to 3 because I do have fond memories of coming here after several winter formals. They have always been excellent about seating and serving groups of 15+ teenagers dressed in crinoline and suits at midnight.

I really don't know why I come here that often, as almost everything about this place is thoroughly mediocre. Probably because it's one of the few late night diners in the Philadelphia suburbs. It's good for a late night slice of pie and coffee, but not much else. Usually I get a sandwich, which have ranged from "pretty decent" to "pretty bad", though mostly falling somewhere in between. The one thing I've had that was very good was their chicken pot pie, but after a recent visit I was saddened to learn that it's not a part of their permanent menu anymore. The good news is that seating is fast and the staff are friendly. It's not a bad place to go, and it is one of the few 24-hour places I know of that's not fast food, but there's also much better around.

Great location on WCP near the Blue Route and other crossroads, in a huge building, open 24x7. What's not to like? Well, for one thing, management. They don't know how to run the front of the house. Here are a couple of tips for the evening manager. Stop speaking down to your wait staff while within earshot of the customer. You did it three times on my last visit. Also, for health reasons I asked for an alternate side dish instead of hashbrowns. The waitress had to ask the manager and he said no. The answer should be yes and it should come from the waitress. Finally, I took my bill to the same manager at the register and he asked loudly if I wanted to add a tip to the bill. Then he asked how much. This could have been handled a little more privately. There was a group of people standing in line. That was just plain tacky. PS. There is nothing wrong with this place - service, food, facility, that can't be fixed with better management.

They certainly cover all the bases on food types, but be prudent. Avoid the "Chinese" dishes (not good) and stick with the HUGE salads, yummy meat loaf and nightly specials. Good appetizers too AND a great meeting room in the back.

I went here for dinner last night after coming here ever since I was a little girl. My waitress was super friendly and was very accommodating of my toddler daughter who hasn't quite gotten the concept of food needing time to cook. She ordered the short stack of pancakes with apples on top and the meal was good, but nothing spectacular. I ordered the Cuban Panini with a cup of Crab Bisque soup. The Crab Bisque was quite good, almost on the level of a Crab Bisque you'd get at the Jersey Shore. The Cuban Panini came out hot and toasted with the cheese perfectly melted. The sandwich lacked brown mustard which really would have helped give this sandwich an A+. When I asked the waitress if I could have a side of brown mustard, she said they only had yellow mustard. Overall, not a bad meal, but it's a shame that the quality and flavor of the food has gone down hill in the over 20 years I've been coming to this diner.

Do yourself a favor go past this place and continue down the W Chester Pike and stop at the Hot Spot Diner instead. Not only is the food subpar at the Country Squire, it's also overpriced, and I truly question the quality and freshness of some of the product coming out of that kitchen. Just keep it moving and go anywhere else, you'll be glad you did!

I actually have a long relationship with this Diner, stretching back to our days when this place was in a regular rotation for Sunday Breakfast after Church. We'd all pile into the '76 Country Squire Station wagon (no relationship to the Country Squire Diner) with the Patriarch at the Wheel and easy listening "Magic 103" on the radio praying for deliverance from the Muzak version of "Yellow Submarine". Yeah, there's an image. Over the years away, this remained a rotational place when home from college, visits home, etc. It went from a solid bet to iffy to No We Are Not Going There Again It Was Awful. About five years ago I think it changed hands and has been much improved. The menu isn't quite traditional Philly Diner, they feature far too many almost-healthy and actually healthy items for that, but it's darn close. Of their solid offerings, the Rev. is a fan of the hot open faced roast beef and hot open faced turkey however the creamed chipped beef got a thumbs down. If you're noticing a trend there of meat swimming in some kind of gooky gravy, you get an A +. He loves meat swimming in crap. I have no idea why. For me? Seriously, the best stuffed peppers in town. In Philly. In the Tri-State area. It's a special item, they only make it when they can obtain quality peppers. When you see it on the menu, order it. You will be converted. Yes, I know there's lots of people out there who don't love this dish, and it's more challenging than you think to do well. Their chef is a freakin' master at it though, to the point where I order it for breakfast if I see it on the dinner special menu. IF it's not sold out already. At 11 AM. Really. They also seem to hire extraordinarily patient and friendly staff, which is great with both cranky children and cranky seniors who are more than a little forgetful. Look, I understand the low scores, this place has been on a culinary roller coaster. For me, it's a solid 3.5 bumped up to a 4 for those amazing peppers and the consistently solid service to some of the more challenging diners in the world.

I have eaten at this place many times, but haven't tried many of the things on the menu. I've always had a good meal. The people I have taken here have all been satisfied. Several folks I have dined with told me they like the wraps a lot. I stick to veal or chicken parm, or eggs. I'm definitely a fan of the baked goods.

Country Squire Diner is not just terrible but HORRIFIC! Not only did we wait over 1 hour for our food, almost everyone at our table of 9 had to send food back. The food was cold, stale and uncooked. The manager would not come out and speak to me. I spoke to another employee who worked there who said to me "How can a bagel be bad?" He took NO responsibility for how gross the food was. The manager STILL did not come and speak to me. I will never eat there again, ever. The meal should have been free! Worst costumer service!
