I've been to a dozen or so Chinese buffets in life and this is by far my favorite. Always go here anytime I want to eat a lot of food. Their chicken teriyaki, treasure chicken, sugared rolls are my favorite things. I like golden corral too Right down the road so my girlfriend can get more things she likes since she's vegetarian. But I prefer China city as my favorite in the area. The service is like at any buffet place. Good food.

Noooooooo.... Chinese buffet? Sure. This is one you should consider skipping. Food is not good at all!

I should have listened to the reviewers above me. I literally had to use the bathroom before I left the parking lot. This place should be shut down it is a disgrace to Martinsburg.

All of the food had a medicine flavor taste except the egg rolls. The sushi was ok but the chef was using old avacado and I dont know why. It was worth the 7.95 for the quality of food at lunch time. I will not go back for sure or would recommend it to anybody.

While driving to New York from North Carolina, I stopped in Martinsburg, West Virginia for the night. This Chinese buffet was close to my hotel so I stopped there for dinner. Your mileage varies with Chinese buffets. This one? It was okay. There was a variety of foods (the wonton soup and the spring rolls were tasty), there was sushi, and you could eat plenty for your money. The only downside to China City was the service. Right by the sushi is a grill where you could have meat, veggies, and noodles cooked to order. However, the grill station was unmanned for several minutes. I just stood there with another person for at least 15 minutes before someone came out to cook our food. Granted, I know that restaurant staff are only human and they need to take breaks or change shifts. If that was the case, they could have at least put up a sign. All in all, if you need food and drink to keep you going and want your money's worth, you could do much worse than the China City buffet.

It's sort-of traditional to pick on the Chinese buffets, and indeed, my first thought as we exited the car was "I hope I don't get sick." But we ended up doing quite well here. I think there may be a bit more variety and higher quality than I'm used to at these places. We didn't experience any problems with staleness, dirt, or even nagging signs about not wasting food. Overall, not bad at all!

Stay away unless you want to get sick. I can not emphasize this enough. This had to be the worst chinese buffet I had been at in a long time. Nothing was fresh, it was all prepared and heated. The seafood, was well you didnt have to see it to know it was there, you could smell it, and if you can smell it, you dont eat it. Dirty, unclean, didnt rotate the food. Good part, they did keep the tempurature up to health department regs.

Stopped by here after work since I have been craving Chinese food. I was suprised with the amount of food they offered. The food was hot and tasted fresh. The dessert bar is pretty large. I would say it is your average Chinese buffet and a good place to get your fix. I have had better and I have had worse. I think it was around $10.00 for the buffet. They have signs posted all over the buffet in reference to wasting food...take only what you are going to eat...etc. Service...it is a buffet, what does one expect?

Ahh the joy of all you can eat chinese buffet :) $12.95 for the lunch buffet and it didnt let us down. There is nothing exceptionally out of the ordinary about the buffet itself except 2 things 1.) Sushi Bar: So there is always fresh sushi available and you can make request, which I think its great. Even if you go in and only eat sushi its WELL WORTH your bucks. 2.) Immediately next to the sushi bar is a "make your own pasta/veggie/meat dish". Its nice. You grab some noodles, add the veggies and meat of your liking, pick a sauce and the man behind the counter will fry it up for it. Its kinda fun :) Besides those two items you will be happy to find the traditional chinese buffet items served up for you. I'd say 80% fresh and hot, not too bad for a slow lunch time!

My favorite buffet in the Martinsburg area. Every time I've gone the food is always fresh, there are always people changing and refilling the food stations, and there is a large selection of options. My favorite is the honey or pepper chicken. The waiters are generally nice and are quick to give refills and take away plates. I think the price is very reasonable for the selection they have. I always try to visit when I'm back in the area.

We just moved into the area and haven't totally unpacked--were looking for a place to eat on Christmas Eve (most were closed) so we happened upon this restaurant. The buffet had a lot of good choices. Frog legs weren't too bad. The shrimp on ice were on the small side. The fried rice was kinda greasy. Wife thought the hot and sour soup was too spicy. Dessert selection was plentiful, and included a lot of fresh fruit, too, along with rice pudding and custard that most Chinese buffets don't have (usually just chocolate and vanilla pudding). I have had better. There are few Asian restaurants in the area. Most popular are the American chains. My favorite of all is Waffle House for consistency and value.

There are two Chinese buffets in this area. China City in Martinsburg, and Jumbo Buffet in Charles Town. Both are affordable. Both have ok food. Unfortunately, both seem to be run by people who have no idea about food borne illnesses, cross contamination, or how to serve food without making people sick. This buffet started off great. A large selection, cheap price, and, although several of the dishes weren't very good at all, there were plenty more hits than misses on the buffet. The longer it has been open, the worse it has become. The quality of the food slipped - not uncommon on buffets during an economic slowdown as the owners try to balance having enough food for their customers, without putting out too much and having it dry out or become unappetizing in other ways. Sadly, China City seems to take no notice of when something on their buffet has become completely inedible. On my last (and final) visit, both the fried rice and the lo mein on the buffet had obviously been there for hours. The rice was dried out and hard, and the lo mein was so dry it more closely resembled uncooked dried pasta than an edible dish. At this point I ran into the other problem (which also plagues the Charles Town buffet) - no one there could speak enough english for me to tell them what was wrong (or at least they pretended not to understand). Upon asking one person if they could bring out fresh rice because the rice was rock hard on the buffet, she motioned for me to follow her, pointed at the rock hard rice, and said "Yes. Rice." and wandered off. So I tried a different employee and decided to ask to see if I could get some fresh lo mein instead. After asking, she looked at me, smiled, nodded her head vigorously (leading me to think that I might have actually made some progress toward getting edible food)... and then said "You like lo mein. Lo Mein good." and then she rubbed her belly and wandered off. I've never observed poor food handling at this location myself as I have at the Charles Town buffet, but I have heard horror stories from friends who have. I also have read the Health Inspector reports. Cheap chinese food is not worth the high risk of illness that comes with eating in this pigsty. During their health inspection in August of 2011 (that last one done), they had 13 critical and 25 noncritical violations, for a total of 38. That is horrible. Some of the highlights (or lowlights I guess): -Chicken sitting out at 80 degree room temperature -cutting boards not cleaned -containers holding utensils not clean -live roaches in kitchen -a container of wd40 oil sitting next to sushi ingredients in food prep area -knife in sushi area put away uncleaned This is after they already had an inspection 3 months earlier and had 30 violations then as well! Disgusting. Do yourself a favor, and before eating ANYWHERE in Berkeley County WV, check the health departments inspections. You can find them online at bchealthdept. There are far too many places like this out there.

ok, so I've been here more than once and every time I think I really don't like this place. The food is mediocre and the service is horrible. I mean all you have to do is seat me and make sure my drink is full and you can't even do that right. I would totally skip this place and just make food at home

Always a wide variety of dishes offered. Occasionally the buffet trays get a little old if the place is near closing but otherwise they keep the hot fresh foods coming. Great free sushi and made-to-order hibachi. Sometimes the place is so busy that it's nearly a food-fight during the typical dinner-hours, especially for the greedy people who grab all of the snow crab as soon as it's put out. Service varies depending on the experience and English grasp of the various influx of Chinese waiters but overall it's usually friendly and they try to be helpful. We eat here frequently, and guests from out of town request that we take them there again. Overall, a superb deal for the price.

this is a good chinese buffet....that is if you go for the real gem here...the peanut chicken. located in the same area as the soups usually. just an addictive crave worthy dish of breaded breast strips in a heavenly peanut buttery sauce. holy heck it's good. the rest is pretty much standard fare. i also enjoy the crab rangoon and pepper chicken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
