So, once a year I indulge myself. All right, maybe twice a year. A corn dog with mustard. Simple. Classic. Safe. With prompt friendly service, and a cautionary warning given, with a smile, to be careful; it's hot, I was happily on my way. Or so I thought. My biannual indulgence was frozen. Literally. I could have used it as a gear shift. So, back I drove. Make no mistake they corrected the error; and gave me a free bottle of water. And although I can't equate this experience with something akin to watching what happened to Bambi's mother, it was marred. Maybe it will be better next year.

I'll give them a 3rd star for adding fries to a sandwich for only 50 cents; good fries. The best Chicago dog up in these parts is found at Bun Runners on 47.....

Oh man, I wanted this place to be amazing so badly, I rarely ever find a good Chicago dog. And with a name like Chi Dog, it was destined for greatness. Well, the hot dog was good, but the fixings were pretty lackluster. And it was on a generic, wimpy, soggy bun. I think they need to take a trip down to Chicago and see how it's done. I mean, it's a cool little trailer to give it that 'up north' feel, and it's in a prime location for tourists right off the main highway. Oh well, maybe the next time I'm up here for the summer...

We stop at Chi Dog every year during our week-long trek to the Northwoods. The owners hail from a suburb west of Chicago, so they know how to set up a Chicago-style hot dog - right down to the torpedo peppers and celery salt. Love 'em...

Good dogs but there are better in Minocqua at Hoggie Doggies.Wifey said cheese soup was very good however.
