Lunch was very good. I had an open face roast beef sandwich with mash potatoes. Coconut creme pie for dessert. Very friendly staff.

Very family friendly and fun stop on your way to somewhere else. Definitely a diner but accommodating and had several vegetarian options. The service has been absolutely awesome- kind and friendly, good sense of humor, and they catered to the little ones. The 4 stars are because the options are LIMITED out here, not because of spectacular food. We definitely enjoyed what we ate but it was not particularly creative or from scratch cooking but lots of choices and like I said- they have been very accommodating. Good service and very affordable prices make up for the average food. They keep this place nice and clean and it feels welcoming- not to mention right next door to a good place to fill up the gas tank. *Just a word of caution- order the "small" or half plate when you can- the portions are absolutely out of control on many items like the biscuits and gravy or hot plates. Way too much food for a normal appetite but enough if you want to share.

There aren't a lot of options in this area for an off the road, not-fast-food meal. Initially I was skeptical about this place -- generally, restaurants with giant fiberglass anythings out front aren't drawing people based on food quality -- but I was pleasantly surprised. The interior was immaculately clean. Two U-shaped bars with stools are front and center, and two dining rooms extend off to the left and right. We were greeted warmly and sincerely when we walked in, and they mentioned we just missed breakfast. We almost left because of that but decided to glance at the menu first. The waitress identified breakfast-y items on the menu that are served all day and that's what we went with. My brother and I split a large order of biscuits and gravy, which are served all day. At just under 10 bucks I expected a lot, and even then I wasn't disappointed. This is a massive portion of sausage gravy over two biscuits; it was easily enough for four people. The gravy was very dark and about 50% sausage. This could be split between 4 people if you were sharing other items; there's also a smaller portion available. We also split a "Denver sandwich", which was a Denver omelet cooked and placed between 2 slices of toast. We had ours on rye and added some cheese. It was really good and a total surprise to both of us. For a little over three bucks, it's a great deal. I'd definitely order it again. The coffee was excellent and super-fresh, and the service outstanding. I would recommend this place to any traveller in the area.

Not what it used to be but still worth the money. Serving sizes are far above average. Prices are reasonable for a sit down restaurant. The staff is very polite and great atmosphere for kids. There are some coloring books and crayons available to keep the little ones entertained while waiting for food. They also offer a small candy treat after dinner to children that behave. Best part was that the waitress checked with us before offering the treat basket.

Just a good family Restaurant. We went for breakfast this morning. Arrived at 11:05 and breakfast had ended at 11am. So we improvised and had hash browns with a fried egg on our sandwiches. It was great and the food was cheap.

Our family stopped here on our way to Minocqua, Wisconsin. I would classify this place as a diner and definitely a dive. A really nice cleaning is what is needed here. The Pioneer has some of the cheapest food I've ever seen. My hot dog and fries cost $4 and four of us dining (3 adults, 1 child) ate for less than $22 including drinks and tax. The fries were surprisingly tasty. From the looks of this place, I wasn't expecting much but the fries were the highlight of my dinner. The extra star comes from the friendly waitress who brought my niece a bag of candy and allowed her to choose a piece. Putting a smile on her face warrants an extra star in my book. The Pioneer is a much better option than the nearby McDonald's. It's not a classy place but it's cheap and the friendly staff will be good company during your brief stay.

Food is reasonably priced, portions are great, and staff is always friendly and helpful. Thanks for serving me while I lived in Westfield.
