Enjoyed Lobster Cobb Salad while watching the Packer game on TV near the bar. Excellent salad. Very filling! Good tap beer selection. Beautiful dome glass ceiling.

Came here with a couple co-workers on a Friday evening before seeing a movie. It was Friday so I decided to try their Fish Fry. The presentation was good - they give you a lot of food, but the taste was so bland and blah, it was just gross. Drinks were overpriced. Service was snotty. Vibe is boring. Yuck - MKE has so much more to offer than this suburban chain "delight". One positive note - they have happy hour special that looked decent. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk my co-workers into sitting in the bar area.

When it first opened we would often come by for the Happy Hour bar food specials. You can't really beat a 1/2lb cheeseburger and fries for $1.95. We would randomly be give gift certificates so I came once for a meal in the dining room. I ordered the blue crab stuffed jumbo shrimp and it was just awful. It had no flavor and the shrimp was overcooked. My dining partner got the Seafood Mac & Cheese and that was actually pretty good however. For the price I was extremely disappointed though. I complained and got another certificate, so I came back and ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. Again, bland and extremely boring. I didn't complain for fear of getting more certificates and having to return. The happy hour specials run from 3:30-6:30, and everything is under $6. Not very big portions but the burger is the best bet.

I almost gave them 3 stars, but the food was worthy of 3.5 and the service was worthy of 4.5 - my biggest issue is that the prices are 5-star so while they certainly deserve 4 stars, I still overpaid. A nice place, but should be a wonderful place for the price. Now in case the manager reads this - the employees in the kitchen or service area were very loud and using inappropriate language - the mashed potatoes were warm, but not hot - I asked for the vegetables on the side to make it easier to give them to my wife, but they were on my plate - nothing huge, but at 5-star pricing, we should get 5-star everything.

Decent selection and prices for Happy Hour but he service is not very fast. We walked in on an early evening on a Wednesday and the bar area was not very busy at all. Couple people at the bar and a couple occupied tables. You'd never think things would move as slow as they did with the small amount of people there. Would be curious to see how things go during dinner on busier nights. The place itself is super cute with a ton of tvs in the bar. To partake of the happy hour specials you must purchase a drink which wasn't a big deal to us but just a heads up. We ordered a couple different apps and some extra $1 shrimp. All were just ok with the exception of the baha tacos. They were definitely the best of our selections. Skip the calamari, not much on the plate and what was there was mainly some deep fried, tasteless veges. Disappointing. :(

Seafood done right. Excellent service and a simple menu. Although, I still can never decide what to order because everything sounds good. There is enough variety to keep everyone happy, I personally enjoy getting the combination dinners. Also, they have a fish fry made with New Glarus and a really nice cocktail, beer and wine menu. If you are looking to keep it light, there's a very affordable small plate menu.

Food was good. Service and timing was bad. I think the manager was overwhelmed with having so many reservations on Valentine's Day. I don't think they have a full on typical night.

Went for a birthday dinner yesterday evening; group of 9 people. Very quiet for a Sunday evening...almost dead. I think there were probably about 4-5 other couples in the restaurant. Ordered the Mariner's Mojito, which was very fresh and tasty, and unfortunately was the BEST thing from my experience yesterday. I ordered the Chef's Dinner...comes with a soup or salad, main dish (3 choices) and dessert. The walnut and greens salad with white balsamic was delicious and FAR better tasting than the entree. I ordered the shrimp scampi over linguine as my entree over the fish. I felt like playing it safe since this was my first time dining at this particular restaurant...what are the chances of having this simple dish be a disaster? WELL- it was. It was lacking much flavor, although the presentation of the dish was beautiful; fresh herbs and tomatoes and the shrimp were large. The dish was BEYOND bland (needed garlic and wine). Salt and pepper COULD NOT help this dish. Four other people from the table ordered the same thing and had the same reviews. We let the manager know, and she was happy to accommodate us, and return it to the kitchen for an exchange and share the feedback with the chef, who happened to be on his 3rd day with them. Me and the other diners decided it was not worth it to have the chef cook something else up, as this was definitely not an impressive piece. How could something so simple not taste so delicious? The waitress was great though. She was very attentive and flexible to all of our requests and orders. She had a great positive attitude which made the experience great! Unfortunately, for the price and taste of the meal, I would not recommend going back to this restaurant....possibly for a happy hour where the drinks and apps are discounted...but that may even be questionable. I would expect the bland food to come from a restaurant like Applebees, etc...not McCormick and Schmicks.

Enjoyed a nice meal for my husband's birthday. Shrimp kisses for an appetizer with dolce sangria and a raspberry mule cocktails. Dinner consisted of steak medallions & lobster and husband had the McCormick trio with lobster risotto with a nice bottle of wine. They gave us a free molton lava cake for his birthday. Server Debra was awesome! Suggestion.... Don't sit next to the kitchen has no door to keep kitchen and servers comments like swearing to a LOW roar!

McCormick and Schmick's is touted as the best happy hour in the country by USA Today... as their menu states prominently. It was about 2:00 and we were hungry, so we decided to bop over here for happy hour. There was one other person in the bar area (which is the only place that their happy hour is served), so we expected pretty speedy service. Dale was fine, if not a little chatty. I had a glass (or three) of the Chardonnay which was $4. He asked what Mom wanted and she said just water. Well apparently there is a rule that everyone enjoying happy hour must purchase a beverage - be it alcoholic or not. He at least let me second glass of wine carry over to her and didn't force her to buy a pop she didn't want. We got the chicken lettuce wraps, the fish tacos and calamari. They came out all at once and quickly. Mom enjoyed her fish tacos, but the slaw was pretty slimy. I was put off by the cold meat in the lettuce wraps. The entire chicken mixture was chilled, which made me think it was not made fresh for the order. Also the 'firecracker' sauce on the side had a thick film over the top appearing it had been under a heat lamp... odd. The calamari was borderline bizarre. He assured us that the portion was ample for such a 'steal' but what a trickster. There were SO MANY tempura vegetables that were not noted on the menu - carrots, artichokes, lemons, peppers - all mixed in with the calamari. I'd say in the end the portion of veggies to squid was 4-1. However, the lemon aioli on the side was nice and refreshing. The decor is nice, but the regular menu prices just don't seem to match with the quality of the food.

Waited 45 for dinner. String beans had stalks in them. Parmesan crusted chicken was really dry, the Alfredo sauce tasted like onion sauce and the trout while delicious was stone cold. Brought it to the attention of the GM. Apologized and offered us a free appetizer on our next visit. Another waiter brought us the appetizer card which read "free appetizer with the purchase of your next entree. So much for customer satisfaction concern. Will have to spend $120 for dinner for two somewhere else!

I joined landrys club like 100 yrs ago for 60¢. Every yr I get $25 to spend and this yr it was here. I don't get the negative reviews peeps. It's a chain. What do you expect? I personally like it. Especially when it's FREE. YAY ME.

How does this place have bad reviews? Now if you're going there to regular dine, keep in mind it's extremely expensive. But I have been, and will continue to take advantage of their incredible happy hour which is 330-9pm every M-R and Friday 330-630 and Saturday 12-5. Drinks 3.75-6. Food 2.99 to 5.99. And the food is legit too. Their chicken sliders were amazing. You can't go wrong going to their happy hour. I'm letting you all in on a little secret. This happy hour is amazing. $2.99 - Bruschetta, Crispy Shrimp Croutons, or Hummus and Chips $3.99 - Blue Cheese Chips, McCormick's Cheeseburger (with fries), Chicken Sliders $4.99 - Calamari, Black Mussels, Spinach Dip $5.99 - Baja Fish Tacos, Margherita Flatbread, Blackened Chicken Quesadilla, Firecracker Shrimp Yum.

Update description: second-try for lunch. I was invited back to give McCormick & Schmick's a second chance after having a not-so-stellar first impression for dinner. Coming in by myself for lunch on a weekday, the place was pretty empty. However, the service was impeccable. My server, Brian, was an excellent ambassador for the restaurant and its food & drinks. The manager, Ryan, also seemed excited for the opportunity to improve his restaurant. I'll frequent places that have employees who seem to genuinely enjoy and respect their employment. Complimentary bread seemed fresh, and went well with the cup of Main Lobster Bisque I had. The Bisque was good, though I would've loved it a bit creamier. At Ryan's recommendation I ordered the Pretzel Crusted Whitefish ($16.99). The portion of fish was very large. Whitefish can often become watery and fall apart, but this piece was almost tender and had a very satisfying texture. The pretzel crumbles on top were an interesting addition, and I would love to have more of the mustard sauce drizzled on top rather than along the outside. Under the fish were plenty of roasted potatoes and red onions, in a buttery glaze. They were a great compliment to the fish. I left McCormick & Schmick's on my second visit much more satisfied with the food, and feel that the service is a step above a lot of the other choices in the area.

Your typical seafood chain restaurant. The food is decent, but it's not going to be amazing. I came here for take out and they were very friendly and quick with the order. I had the mahi mahi and the clam chowder. The clam chowder was pretty good and had a ton of clams. Very flavorful and definitely worth having. The sauce the mahi mahi was in was delicious, but the mahi mahi itself was a bit dry. The hash it was served on top of was good as well. The food was all good, but just nothing that blew me out of the water. If you're in the area and looking for seafood, this might be an option. A little pricey for the quality of food that you're getting.

Only reason I came back here was because the last time I was where I had an awful experience and was given a gift card to come back for a second chance. We decided to get a few drinks and apps before a movie and didn't have an outstanding experience. The drinks were pricy and the appetizers were highly priced and small serving sizes. I will say that it was no where near the disaster experience that we had last time, but we will probably not be coming back.

Sooooooooooo good! Lunch, dinner, or appetizers, M&S is a great place to go in Milwaukee for fresh, well-prepared seafood. When I was pregnant with my son, I ate an M&S chicken salad several times a week! They also have great oysters and crab (raw bar items). I've had quite a few different dishes here: cioppino - amazing! Aforementioned chicken salad - equally awesome! Lobster mac - pretty darn good! My only real beef is the price of lunch. The lunch-sized portions are really small for the price. But it's a small complaint because the food is great, the service is good, and the atmosphere is nice. All in all, top notch!

Love the decor, service, and the food rocks! However, they don't know how to make a proper Irish Coffee. The picture in their drink book is right but the description is wrong. They think it's just coffee, whiskey, and a cube of sugar. Had to send mine back twice to make it right... Bailey's, whiskey, coffee, and whipped cream on top. If you are not ordering a drink from the bar, then this places rocks. Make sure to try they Hawaiian Mahi Mahi with tropical salsa and end your meal with their fabulous creme brûlée. You won't be amiss.

As we live on the border of Tosa, McCormick & Schmick's is a convenient location to get to quickly if we have a desire for seafood. We had dinner here for the fourth time, in about two years, last night. For me, the space has an upscale feel about it and good service, but the menu selection and food quality is on average, mediocre. To start, we shared a Bleu Cheese and Bacon "chopped salad," ($7.99) that came on a somewhat small plate, dressed with oil vinaigrette. The few Bleu cheese bits in the salad were tossed with greens but we could make out only a couple tiny pieces of bacon. All in all, it was OK but the salad portion size as well as the other promised ingredients was disappointing, except for the chopped pimento olives, which was the prominent ingredient. [Photo: yelp.com/biz_photos/mcco… My lady had the "Coconut Shrimp" ($11.99). The coating on the shrimp was crispy, but lacked the coconut flavor one would expect. The shrimp, itself: undersized, bland and on the dry side. [Photo: yelp.com/biz_photos/mcco… I ordered the "chef's recommendation" Mahi Mahi ($25.99). It comes with "Boursin Cheese-Sweet Pea Risotto, Green Beans and Basil-Hazelnut Pesto." They did a good job on this and the portion of fish was up to par. [Photo: yelp.com/biz_photos/mcco… Cocktails: A glass of the house Chardonnay: $7.00 (Unknown vintner). Sapphire rocks: $11.25 (A somewhat demure pour, especially when considering what they charge and compared to a much better pour at most dinner houses). Service: Jacquelyn was our server and could not be any more efficient and pleasant.

This is why Milwaukee dislikes chain restaurants. It might be the best example of it I can think of. Just so average in many, many ways. We returned for the shrimp cocktail that we loved so much in chicago MS and this one was not done well at all. glassware was also a bit dirty.

Must be a chain restaurant that's been around awhile. Food and service are no where near what you would expect given the appearance of the property and the prices on the menu. Not many people in the place in a location that has the highest traffic volume in the entire state tells me it should be removed to add parking spaces.

    (2)
  • Lauren R.

I feel very MEH about this place. The food was excellent but the service was seriously lacking. We came for dinner, with reservations, and were seated at a round table in the middle of traffic where everyone brushed against us. Our waiter disappeared for half hours at a time and didn't bring us bread when we asked or fill our empty waters. I know it was busy but give the waiters fewer tables or something.

After multiple visits, this restaurant is sooooo overpriced! Twelve dollars a glass for wine! Portions are small and food is not special. Nice location, bar is not crowded, but will skip next time.

Good bar with really wide selection of whisky. Oyster Wednesday with $1 per oyster (Delaware Bay, yummy!) Excellent soups (clam chowder is my favorite).

There are only a few times where I'm blown away,. And I came here a couple months ago and it was fantastic. I decided to get a job here as a server and it made me love this place even more. Everything is fresh down to the sauces. The drinks, juices, they are fresh squeezed. The food just keeps getting better with every addition. I will be staying here for a while. This place is excellent and I'm proud to be a part of it .

First time visiting the restaurant. It's not a cheap meal by any means, however the food and service were wonderful. Would definitely go back and try some of their other entrees and appetizers.

Definitely not worth the price. The restaurant itself is nice looking. Food is pretty average and the service was awful. Maybe it was just bad luck with one bad waitress but still, way overpriced for what you're getting.

Wow, what a disappointment. Was pretty jacked to give them a try. We had a business dinner for 5 of us. How to describe the service? Very slow and the place was near empty ( not a good sign, right?). We inquired if they offered a seafood tower and were told if we wanted that we should have gone to Applebee's. Really? They taste pretty good at Bartolottas or Flemmings. Had the grilled coho salmon which was very dry. Another ordered the seared tuna which came cooked fully through. While I didn't sample the others food, all parties complained of their fish being dry. My walnut mixed green salad was drowning in vinaigrette. How do you drop the ball on a salad? The best part of the experience was the dessert and it wasn't even on the menu. The chocolate bag dessert was very good. Why would you have something this good as a secret menu item? Sadly, they could really take a lesson from Bonefish. We and our clients will find other dinner options.

3 stars. Average at best. Pricy at worst. The husband and I were looking forward to trying this place after driving by frequently at Mayfair. The food was nice, but not for the price. I had lobster tail and steak, and was left wanting starch (which didn't come with my $30 entree!). It just didn't all fit together. Service was good, atmosphere was nice, wine was tasty and not too overly priced. Overall, though, it felt like it was trying to be upscale, but failed. Re-reading this, it sounds harsh, but really I have nothing else to add.

  • Johnny F.

I can honestly say I will more than likely never return here. The was very bland and definitely over priced for what you get. The place is nicely decorated though and the bar area is neat looking. That's about it.

UPDATE: After my review on August 28th I was contacted by a member of their team who encouraged me to leave the feedback on their website form. I did and received a call from this location's store manager apologizing for the lackluster experience. They invited me back for drinks and an appetizer on the house. This shows me the restaurant group cares about delivering a good experience which is much appreciated.

We arrived at 6:20 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. reservation on 12-13-14. Our party of four was seated almost immediately. Our server was polite and attentive at the beginning of the meal. The lobster bisque ($12.00) was very good and the serving size was generous. My main entree of filet and stuffed shrimp with steamed broccoli was cooked according to my request - but it lacked any memorable flavor ($29.00.) I also had a lemon drop martini ($10.00.) The service declined considerably after the main course was served - due to the arrival of a large group. Our server acknowledged (at least two times) that she was running behind getting to our table for refills, etc. I cancelled my order for a second martini due to length of the wait (20 minutes) and because the main course had ended. We hesitantly decided to order desserts - but we eventually changed our minds about ordering - while we waited for the server to finally appear to take the order 20 minutes later. We live in Brookfield and we were excited to find a restaurant close by that we could frequent regularly. We will not be coming back. Our total bill for our party of four, including tip, was $260. The price, the quality of the food and the service are sub-par. I am a former waitress and I'm currently employed in customer service (nurse) - so I know of what I speak. This restaurant has the prices of an upscale establishment - but the feel of an nicer Applebee's. At those prices - I won't be going back to see if things have changed. On a positive note: I had Murf's frozen custard for my birthday dessert - and it was delicious.

Service was great, but both times my husband and I have been here we've left disappointed. The food is okay. Definitely not the best seafood in the area by any means. The atmosphere is cool and it's tempting to stop in because of the calamari but the food and the price just aren't worth it.

Had mixed thoughts about picking this place for dinner. The reviews on Yelp were not glowing but decided to give it a chance since I had enjoyed a nice meal at their other locations. I would say the service was good with a very nice atmosphere and that's about it. Had the encrusted flounder, their signature dish and it was over cooked, greasy and tasteless. Not planning any any trips back. Should have paid attention to the Yelp reviews!

I am not sure why I've never tried this place for dinner, because I've had several great lunches here. Saturday, I stopped in before shopping at Mayfair Mall. As I browsed the drink Menu, an interesting one called my name. I had to order the Cranberry Basil Margarita. It was sweet, tart and refreshing. I had the Blue Crab Cake Appetizer for my lunch. I love well made Crab Cakes. The Key is to have as little filler as possible. This was perfect! Almost all Crab with a Tart little Orange Fennel Salad along side. I pledge to try them for dinner in the next few months. If my experience matches my last...I'll have to promote them to five stars.

Good but they could work on the service, it seems stuffy and snooty. They seafood and steak and desert are great, atmosphere is amazing and CLEAN but never our first choice because of the hoitey-toitey feeling. Could be better with SERVICE and making customers feel welcome and wanted.

So I've been to this place several times, it's alright. The dinner menu is typical of most seafood places. Although they have most of the same dishes as other places do, and they come out alright, but this isn't that special of a place. I also had a terrible sangria cocktail here - steer far far away from it. It had specs floating on the top, the drink tasted like straight alcohol (of the bottle shelf variety), and overall, had a sour quality to it. Eek. However if you do make it here, I highly recommend their happy hour at the bar. The drinks are average for any happy hour, but then their food menu is super cheap. I think there is like a minimum drink spend to order off the food menu, but it's usually achieved by one or two beers. I'd go back for their happy hour, probably not to sit down and dine.

    (3)
  • Mikee R.

OK at best. We were stuck in the back of the place and then forgotten about for a half hour. We had a few other issues which I am not going to comment about. Our server was pleasant but not on top of her game. The food was also just OK.

  • Joanna T.

For a chain, McCormicks is pretty ok. The atmosphere is definitely classy, lots of wood & stained glass - probably best to go a step up from jeans + a Slayer T. Service is a strong point - we've never had less than really good service. The servers have actual personality, they are pros but not afraid to joke around. That said, the bar can be sloooow.... The wine list is heavy on the domestics and I feel the white selection by the glass could be a little better, especially considering seafood is a focus here. It's pretty much supermarket faves (Kendall Jackson) so they could step it up some. Food - that's really a crapshoot. I've never had anything bad, fishy or "not so fresh". Sometimes they try a bit too hard on the preparations. They make a big deal about changing the menu daily because of the freshness and all that, but if you come here regularly you know they just print the same thing with a new date. If you don't like fish - well, they have a few things for you. A steak or two and maybe some chicken. Vegetarian? Move along...they got nothing for you, minus a star for that. I had hoped for meatless and asked for an entree of veg risotto (normally a side) which they graciously accommodated. However, it arrived with ham in it. I'm not a vegetarian so didn't really care, but if you are veggie call ahead or ask specific questions. The upside down apple pie aka tarte tatin is really good.

Chains seem to have a shelf life. This one is well beyond its expiration date. Also, if you look at some of the other reviews, the reviewers read this restaurant very poor but then provide four stars out of five. A victim of classic overgrading. Waitress so inexperienced it was embarrassing. It would be understandable and even excusable if there was someone training this person. No one. Is too bad. I'm sure there are working on the back who have been provided with updated recipes to cook for some time. The lobster bisque and chop salad were so salty and overwhelmed any taste from the actual ingredients. The food was cold and unappetizing. Warm steak on a plate does not become appetizing because it is served with a fried tomato and giant broccoli stalk. Potatoes came out only after we asked for them along with a steak knife to eat the steak that came out 10 mins before. If you don't dine at a place like this often, either save your money or go somewhere else. This is not your place. Avoid it. Not worth it.

Not a great fan of seafood, I was surprised when a friend wanted to take me here for my birthday lunch; however, from the moment I walked in I love it. We walked into a fabulous decor of warm wood and Tiffany style domed ceiling/ lighting and were well received from a friendly smiling hostess and waiter. We dined on lobster bisque (fabulous), coconut shrimp, crab tower (wonderful), fish N chips (best I've ever had, think it was the fish batter) and chocolate cake (very fresh) with a great light creamy frosting. All was served by a very accommodating efficient waiter. Wish I got his name for future visits - he was really great. McCormick & Schmick (MKE) - Can't wait to return.

I've eaten at this chain back home in Seattle and had a good experience, so I was excited to find one here in Wisconsin. Little did I know that what was waiting for me at the other end of my dining experience was a night of terrible stomach cramps and fish sweats. The service was, um, lousy. The waitress was far more interested in trying to flirt with a table of guys than taking our order. We started with the calamari. Or as we discovered deep fried rubber, that smelled and tasted like the insole of a fisherman's boot. I got the fish and chips, thinking it was a safe choice, well holy hell I didn't know cod swam in grease, but there it was, slick and shiny. The coleslaw was so oniony that only Shrek could appreciate it. The mashed potatoes would have been good save for the long black hairs in them. Then came the bill. 3 people, three meals, 1 appetizer, 90 dollars. We all had the fish and chips and one had beer the other two had soda. I wouldn't eat this crap with the owners mouth. No thank you.

So, I am a 13 year old boy, with a peanut allergy, and have a brother with a milk, wheat, and egg allergy. We went there with our dad for dinner today, and let me say, our dinner was not enjoyable. To start off it took them 5 minutes to actually realize we were there, and there was literally 2 (more or less) people there. When we got seated, we realized our silver ware was really dirty, and our glasses were dirty too. When we ordered, we told the waiter about our allergies, and he brought us our food in about 15 minutes, and my dad asked for a new knife. Well the knife never came. When my brother got his food, he had a cream dressing and mashed potatoes on the side, which both have milk, and our waiter was completely careless. Luckily my brother and dad are smart enough to ask about the mashed potatoes, and the guy really didn't care at all about our allergies, but told us that my brother couldn't eat the potatoes. (He didn't say anything about the cream dressing though...) If you are considering going to this restaurant, don't even think about it. The combination of expensive food (that is pretty good), bad service, dirty silverware and dishes, and waiters who don't care about food allergies, make the experience horrible, and nobody should eat here because of this.

Very nice staff, top service and helpful, they know well the food. The decor was ok, re-modeling would be better. the food I have ordered a Wild Ahi Tuna Kona, Hawaii (I have uploaded the picture) I was surprised with the plate it came more as a "Japanese style" platter I was more expecting a traditional seafood plate (but i knew that the tuna would be raw since the waitress described it very well) so overall it was an ok dish. the second platter was Mahi Mahi, Manta, Equador, this plate was good the mahi mah was well cooked though if I can recommend I would not recommend the orzo with this plate (i would believe some spinach or a combination of spinach with asparagus and spinach with the mahi mahi would have been better including some rice) I would recommend the mahi mahi for the next time.. Ahi tuna would be better in a japanese restaurant

The food is usually pretty good, but the reason we end up at McCormick is that we're looking for a cool, chill atmosphere to have some good food after shopping at Mayfair. Don't get my wrong, we love PF Changs, but waiting for a table there is just uncomfortable, cramped, and not fun at all. When you need a break from all that commotion, come over to McCormick and have a drink at their big, open bar that has a warm, nautical vibe going on. We had appetizers at the bar that were tasty with some good drinks as well. What really topped off our experience was the end where our bartender ran through the dessert options. Everything sounded a little too heavy, and I told him all I wanted was a cookie (thinking of the lemon half-moons at Maggiano's). He said he would be right back. When he returned, he had three chocolate chip cookies on a white saucer. Awesome service!

We went earlier in the day and it was not busy at all. Had the bruschetta appetizer and it was pretty tasty. For dinner had the stuffed Atlantic salmon! Awesome! For dessert we had the ooey gooey which had Carmel sauce with roasted pecans and vanilla bean ice cream! Amazingly tasty and filling! We will definitely be back!

After sending in a boatload of $$ to the government, my wallet needed a break. So our broke butts hit up their annual Tax Relief Celebration. I'm not usually a huge chain-restaurant fan unless it starts with Mc and ends with Donald. But we decided to up the ante and try the cheap-version of the usually pricey menu. Happy hr menu: $1.99 and up! -OMG Fries: pretty tasty with Parmesan and the aioli. Could barely taste the 'truffle' -Tosa Mac cheese: saucy sauce but good for dipping with bread Tax day deal: $10.40 entrees at the bar -Grilled salmon w/ veggies: salmon was ok, nothing we couldn't do ourselves -Shrimp Alfredo: creamy and rich - like a heart attack waiting to happen Service: shaky at first but then friendly (several servers passed by and we waited 10min before someone finally came to even acknowledge our presence.) I'd try it again - but mostly because they gave us $10.40 gift certificates for coming in that day. Score for the poor!

I protested my co-worker's suggestion that we eat lunch here based on the $$$ rating, but she assured me I could afford a salad, and I could, and I did, and it was lovely. Also, the raspberry iced tea was refreshing and 1/14 the cost of a glass of wine. The waiter seemed to be artificially lowering his voice for an air of gravitas.

I used the private dining room to hold a meeting this past week for a group of 32, the experience was TERRIBLE. The manager Sandy, seemed very put-out by us even being there. She was rude, unprofessional and and basically gauged us for every dollar she could get! (I thought for a minute i was in Chicago) even charging us $2.50 per person for bringing our own breakfast rolls. Which was spun as a deal since she could charge us $5.00... We've held three other meetings here and never been charged for bring our own rolls. The $5.00 per head for coffee was fair. What really was amazing was how Sandy spoke to my boss. I believe her quote was, sit down over there old man.... He's 48.... and a nice guy. If I had the authority I would have fired her right there! While I'm disappointed in her attitude, I tried to write it off as just a bad day but even as I was walking out, she gave me a death stare... A little uncalled for as I had just spent $1,250 dollars. We will not return! Just a warning to anyone considering renting that room. There's two sides to Sandy!

Truly awful service with a manager that is worse. We ate there 3 times- the first time was good enough to return, but the 2nd and 3rd visit we had a waitress that literally disappeared throughout dinner. This is not ok when you're paying $120 for two. When we complained to the manager he said the waitress was wonderful and dismissed us. I'm not kidding! We were so furious that we wanted a refund on the repeat customer card that we had just signed up for (which was $25 to get), and instead of trying to apologize for our two awful visits he just slapped the money down and walked away. I guarantee this location will close unless they get new management.

My dad suggested this restaurant when we were looking for a place to eat. He said that he had eaten there in the past and really liked it. We went on a Sunday around 2 PM. There were a fair amount of people in there. We were promptly taken to a table. As I was looking over the menu, the waitress came and took our drink order and brought a wedge of sour dough bread with butter. I was famished, however, I hate sour dough bread. But, it sure did look good. One of my favorite things is crab, and when I go to a seafood restaurant, I expect to see crab offered. However, there were no crab legs on the menu. :( So, I ordered the Kobe beef carpaccio for an appetizer. It was tasty. However, I tasted the lettuce and onions and aioli more than I could taste the beef. It was good though. I ordered the beer battered shrimp for my entree. It came with basil mashed potatoes. I was not impressed with the shrimp. It seemed as though the breading was super duper greasy. I know, I should expect something that is fried to be greasy, but this just seemed like a mouthful of grease in my mouth. So, I tried to give the shrimp to my dad, and even he didn't like them. He didn't like the flavor of the breading, he said that it was too peppery. When a fat man does not like something, you know there has got to be something wrong with it. I didn't let my disappointment get the best of me. I decided that just meant that I could get dessert. So I ordered the creme brulee. There was nothing special about it, but it was good. All in all, I was satisfied with my dining experience and I would go back.

Eh, it was okay. My mom and I have the spotted shrimp (battered on toast, spinach, basil mashed potatoes) It looked nice, tasted, eh.....BLAND. We both agreed. All of that fuss (the way it looked) and it was just..."eh". Two in our party had fish and chips, good but not great. My dad LOVED his cheeseburger though, and he's a fussy guy. My mom originally wanted the ham and cheese panini, but the panini was unavailable that day (1 pm on a Saturday, place wasn't busy at all). Hmmm. Just an okay experience. No reason to go back.

Had late--for WI.--dinner following a movie at Mayfair Mall. It was Saturday night so was a bit surprised at the few customers. Service was good, wish I could say the same about the meal. Started with a Hendricks on the rocks with blu cheese stuffed olives. The olives were nasty...like those which are store purchased and where the blue cheese is a hard chunk and bears no resemblance to blue cheese by any stretch of the imagination. I ordered one of the touted dishes, grilled salmon with a miso sauce on jasmine rice. The salmon was flavorful but the rice was overcooked and flavorless, and it was served cool. Four asparagus spears bordered the dish and they lacked seasoning and taste. At $36.00 for entree and $12.00 for cocktail, I expected much, much more. To top off the evening, it was 12 degrees outside and cold in the restaurant. When I queried the waiter, I was told the thermostat was on a timer and had turned off--this at a little after 9pm. Thus a two star rating--which may still have been too generous.

McCormick & Schmick's is hands down my favorite seafood restaurant national chain or otherwise. The Mayfair location is the smallest McCormicks that I've ever been in but it's nice to see the Milwaukee metro area is finally attracting the more upscale restaurant chains. The menu is prepared daily depending on what seafood was flown in but there are some staple items that just about always appear. I tend to go for the baked brie or salmon cakes to start and the cedar plank salmon for the main entrée. For the solo business traveler the McCormick & Schmick's happy hour menu is hard to beat... you need to sit in the bar area but what self respecting business traveler sits alone at a table over the bar? The highlight of the happy hour manu is the $1.99 half pound cheeseburger. There are normally some very good seafood appetizer specials ranging from $1.99 - 5.99. If you are looking for a lot of cheap drink specials this isn't the happy hour to go to. I would also recommend the McCormick & Schmicks preferred guests card...who doesn't like a free entrée during your birthday month? The restaurant isn't cheap but is very expense account friendly and has a good scotch selection.

The décor and atmosphere was very nice and the service was good. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave a good recommendation on our oyster choices for the appetizer. The manager even gave us a mini-wine tasting to choose a bottle that we'd like to have with our dinner. The menu, printed daily, listed all the fresh choices flown in that day that the chef used to create unique entrees with. I was totally excited about that! Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best and WAY overpriced. I had the "mixed grill", which I thought would be a great choice because it gave me a sample of three different items on the menu. For 29.95, I received a small portion of crabcake, salmon, and Chilean sea bass with a side of risotto and asparagus. The crabcake and sea bass were average, but I wouldn't say they were out of this world. The salmon was overcooked and dry, and I could taste salt crystals on it, like they forgot to season it and added salt to it after it was done cooking. Everything tasted artificial and I wondered whether I was at an Applebee's rather than a fancy seafood restaurant. Perhaps I made the wrong entrée selection, and I think I might have had high expectations to begin with, but I would not recommend this place for the food- you can certainly get better quality elsewhere for the money. The seafood/oyster bar at Milwaukee Public Market beats this place hands down when it comes to quality and taste.. and at a third of the price.

So it's a seafood chain, albeit fairly upscale. The prices can rise steeply, especially with drinks. However, luncheon entrees can be reasonable and filling. My wife and I both had the planked salmon with mashed potatoes and considered it acceptable. We also shared an upside-down apple pie dessert which was fabulous. Oddly, we were the only people in the restaurant, although it was a cold day (shortly after 1:00 p.m.) We will be back.

Although next to the mall, the quality is surprisingly good. Really its amazing how fresh the seafood is. Oysters were great, actually better than the coastal M&S that I've been to. Drinks are awesome, highly recommend the Grape Basil cooler. Really hope this place can rise above the rest of the "average" seafood chains around.

This has been one of our regular restaurants in the Milwaukee area. (We have also been to the one in Rosemont IL several times.) It's near Mayfair Mall, so the location is close, and more convenient than driving downtown. They are open for lunch, which is probably when we go out more. We tend to go with a lot of appetizers, because we like variety. The Seared Ahi Tuna is very good, as well as the Mussels. The Kobe Beef Carpaccio and Duck Potstickers are very good, although smaller appetizers. The Kobe-Cali Burger is good with smoked applewood bacon and avocado. It's been a while since we've done dinner and entrees, so unfortunately I don't recall what I've had. They change their menu a bit...food items as well as the wine. We had mixed reviews on the service at first, but it was generally good. I think our only negative experience was with a female manager in trying to find a bottle of wine that was not out of stock. She ended up giving us a gift card to make up for the inconvenience. We have gotten to know a server quite well there, so I'd like to recommend Justin R... that's if you can get one of his tables. He has a bit of a cult-like following. He is amazing though, and probably the best server there.

Was at Mayfair doing some shopping with my wife and decided to try this place. A $40 lunch that was s0o-so at best. Nothing glaringly wrong, but nothing to make it other than just another meal out. Service was indifferent. Again, nothing glaringly wrong but we had a member of waitstaff who seemed to be going through the motions. This place doesn't hold a candle to River Lane Inn, and Devon Seafood Grill in Bayshore is noticeably better.
