Being an out of towner, we decided to make the trip from IL. Glad I did.! The atmosphere is cozy and staff is very welcoming. I had the shredded beef chimichanga dinner which was our waitress suggestion. No disappointment there. Large frozen margarita, was large and tasty.! Overall very pleasant experience, not too bad on the wallet either.

The food was ok, but nothing special. Our waitress was very unprofessional and rude. The only spectacular thing about this place was the murals on the ceiling and tables.

This restaurants vegetarian menu looks great. I ordered veggie chimichanga meal, which the menu stated came filled with a short list of veggies including, broccoli and carrots. When I received my meal all that was in my burritos was greasy bell peppers and onions. I was pretty bummed.

If you're looking for warm beer, cold food, disgusting bathrooms, and horrible service... This is exactly the place for you!!

Fine Mexican dining. Tasty and plentiful. Just enough spices n flavor to bring me back... also the prices were very reasonable. Only thing that would turn someone away was the open and filled buckets for holding "who knows what" in each of the ladies restroom stalls. gross.

This is one of my husband and my favorite places. It's a little hole in the wall with great food and great service. And the Maragarita's are top notch! Highly recommended!

If I could give a negative rating I would. I've been to this restaurant 3 times now. 3 times and your out. EVERY TIME I have gotten the wrong food. However this time was especially terrible. I asked for plain chicken tacos, no tomatoes no onions no lettuce just cheese and chicken, I received beef tacos. The beef was slimy and coated in grease. I sent it back. I received, yet AGAIN, beef tacos but this time plain. I sent them back. When I received the correct chicken tacos they came fully loaded. I was done sending stuff back. To top it off the manager wanted to argue with me about paying for the tacos even tho I hadn't eaten....I'm so very very disappointed in the service and the food. Please make sure you speak some Spanish so they understand what you want to order better maybe.

First visit. Food was good - service equally good. We had a party of 9 and the food came out quickly.

I really like this restaurant. Our waitress, Christy, did a great job waiting on our table (and it was 12 of us! yay ladies church retreat!). I had the tacos with shredded beef. It was less than $10 and tasty- a winning combo.

This is my second time here . This first we came with two families, 4 kids 4 adults.. They accommodated by combining two tables(and putting up with young rouddy kids).. The serves was decent considering the dinner rush time.. I had the tongue tacos(don't ask), which were fresh and well prepared . Everyone else loved their food( tacos and steak).. Second time was lunch pick up.. Quick and easy, Overall. Great stop for paddock lake

5 stars because it is an authentic hole in the wall Mexican place we'd be happy to find in Cabo, or Puerto Vallarta... My current fav. is arachera steak. I know , I know that sounds blah, but this is like what Mexicans have when they go out on a Sat. night... awesome big hunk of skirt steak with all the trimmings. They also have some one-of-a-kind dishes... some of which will blow your head off. I'm thinking of a pork dish that's full of chili's I can't think of the name of it. It's just really good and it's a good place!

I'M BACK I first ate at this place ten years ago. It is the only local Mexican place around for miles and miles. I never wrote a review because I felt I might be too harsh on such a cute family run business. My standards of Mexican food are really high with all of the amazing places in Pilsen/Chicago. I kind of felt unfair writing a bad review because the locals love this place and maybe I was just missing something. I am now a fan of this place, after having our waitress Estella serve us. I was looking at the menu and trying to decide what to get. My mistakes here in the past were always with the ground beef and I knew I could not make that mistake again. I am not a fan of there ground beef because it is ground up too fine and has a weird texture to me. So I threw the question to Estella and said, "What is your favorite food here?" She looked at me and said, "The Shredded Beef and the Fajitas!" She even went on to express how amazing she thought the shredded beef was. I instantly knew that I had to go with her suggestion. I also told her that I was putting all the pressure on her to make sure they were good. She laughed and promised I would love them. So I ended up ordering a Shredded Beef Burrito Suizo with Verde Salsa because it was hotter then the red, according to Estella and it was delicious. The shredded beef was really tasty and had a lot of nice seasoning. I was a little worried that the boiling of the meat might cause the meat to lose it taste but that did not happen at all. The burrito also came with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato and a scoop of sour cream. Everything was fantastic except for the sour cream, I was not a fan of it. I would have been happy with some real Mexican Crema and not some American sour cream scoop. The rest of the family went with enchiladas and they were also good. Smaller then my giant burrito but essentially the same food item. I am sure you have noticed that it is typically the same 5 items in every Mexican dish. I will point out that there is a nice kids menu, not healthy but at least they have one. My little one loved her enchiladas, in fact it was the first time she has ever ordered enchiladas in a restaurant. They serve complimentary chips and salsa, which is normal for most places except for the ones that are starting to charge now. Mexican restaurants should never charge for chips & salsa! The salsa was house made with lots of chunks of tomatoes and cilantro. Estella quickly replenished our chips and salsa as we needed it. She did a great job. We were going to go margaritas but instead opted for some beer. I also recommend you check the local flyer for coupons. They seem to always have a coupon in there for a BOGO Margarita or a BOGO half off entree. We went with the spend $30 and get $5 off coupon. Which made our beers free and who doesn't like free beer? Free beer should be a right of every person in the world. So I am back and had a great time. I now know I will always get the shredded beef for all of my food items here. It may have taken me 10 years but I finally got it right and now I see why people love this place. I am glad I did not rush to judgment 10 years ago.

There's a server by the name of Estela that's awful. She doesn't pay attention to customers and has a really ugly attitude. Make sure you don't get her as your server or you will have a bad experience. She forgets about her tables and treats you like your invconenving her to get you what you ask. But the bar tender is really nice. Food was ok.

Was given a $30 gift cert to this Mexican eatery as a bribe to come dog-sit at my parents place this past weekend. Needless to say free food and drink gets me to do a lot of things I regret. However, this was not one of them. I had the Friday fish fry (never had one at a Mexican place, thought I'd give it a go) and glad I did. It was $7.95 for huge haddock filets. The initial plate came with 3 and that was plenty for me. It also came with re-fried beans, salad and oddly, one piece of white bread with butter. The fish was excellent. I had a bite of the Shrimp Diablo and hot damn my mouth was burning. The waitress did warn Brianna W in her defense. We also ordered a margarita each (1 classic on the rocks, 1 strawberry blended). Both thought them average and pretty tasty (they advertise their margaritas as "best in town" or "best around"). The service was very prompt and friendly, but this was at around 8pm on a Saturday night so it wasn't very busy. Interesting log cabin decor. I plan on heading back into this gem and having my usual at Mexican restaurants, the chimichanga. Then I'll really be able to gauge this place.

Granted, there aren't very many restaurants in Paddock Lake Wisconsin, but this place fits the bill for a decent sit down. Decorated like Jimmy Buffet funk, the atmosphere is probably Wisconsin's idea of authentic Mexican. The service is slow! I'm talking snail race here. Only 2 waitresses for a dining room with about 50 seats. The waitresses are disorganized and rushed. The food was fresh and tasty. Nit bad at all. The flan for dessert was fantastic! Overall, way better than fast food, but needs improvement in the service. By all means try this place, but you might want to tie a rope around the waitress so you can contact her if you need to.

Overall the food here was okay. Probably to be expected for mexican food in wisconsin. Tasted good but it wasn't anything special. One down side for me was the enchiladas had almost no sauce with them, although they had plenty of cheese, which is great. Chips were normal but the selection of a few salsas was good. Service was very mediocre, only 2 waitresses for the whole place and it was only half full...I expected more. In a nutshell, nothing special, but not the worst place that I have been to..

Okay, I know a 5 star rating is pretty serious. This may not be 5 star in the traditional sense but in my mind, this place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is great...how can you argue with authentic music and soccer on the big screen?! When you sit down, you'll be greeted with chips and salsa (I also recommend some cheese sauce for a great chip dippin experience). I may not be a margarita expert....but damn, the regular margarita on the rocks is awesome! The shredded beef chimichangas are INCREDIBLE!!! In fact, I don't think I can ever order anything else after tasting these. One of my favorite little mexican restaurants and it's in "the rotation".

Stop here for good, authenic Mexican food and Margaritas. Plus, it's close to Lake Geneva. We drove here after finding a Burlington option closed. The staff was friendly and the place is nicely decorated with vibrant colors. We'll be back!

We stopped here on the way back to Chicago from Lake Geneva, and we loved it! The shredded beef burrito and shredded beef tacos were awesome, and their homemade salsas were outstanding! We will definitely stop here again!!

We love this restaurant! Wonderful food and very friendly staff. They have a live singer who croons in a beautiful voice to Spanish songs on a karaoke machine. It would be absolutely perfect, BUT the music is waaaaay too loud. We can hardly talk. Plus, between his music sets, he plays music videos. We wish they had a way to soften the music so it's in the background because it's too tiny a place for it. Still, we will continue to go there, but we ask to sit near the door--away from the speakers!

Whenever our family is in the mood for Mexican food we are happy good eats are only a short drive away in Paddock Lake. It is not a fancy place, but the prices are reasonable and staff kind. They often offer coupons in the local Clipper magazine too.

i would have given it a one but maybe there are some other items on the menu that are better. the chorizo was downright scary, either had bad freezer burn or was just spoiled, couldn't tell. the steak fajitas were good until i found a piece of meat that was either way undercooked or just went bad. margaritas not good. kids said their cokes were the best they've ever had. kids pizza looked like it came out of an easy bake oven: small, undercooked. my kid who loves pizza didn't finish it. service was fast. staff ok.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
