Loved it- the decor is authentic -colorful imported from Mexico. Guaranteed to make the gloomiest of days bright once inside. The food was fantastic I ordered the veggie chimichanga it was delicious, service friendly but a bit slow (mid week lunch hour) come here but not if you are in a super hurry - they do have food to go though, so that's one way around it.

I really enjoy going here when I am in town. Very colorful restaurant and super friendly wait staff. Their salsa is a little bland but the rest of the food is so good. And their margaritas are awesome!! Nice portions and fresh tasting food. Good selection for a vegetarian! Recommend this place over the Mexican restaurant in nearby Minocqua.

It was good food and good service but not worth 4 stars in my opinion. Chips were just ok and beans were not that good. There are better and worse Mexican restaurant. Staff was attentive

This place is amazing. Beautiful colors, kind people, amazing food, plenty of seating. It has it all. I would gladly come here anytime. Really good chips and salsa. Great fish tacos. Great enchiladas! Super cheap! I hope to come here again very soon! Wonderful!

Mexican restaurants top my list for nights out. This was my first visit to Casa Mexicana and it was wonderful. The decor is extremely colorful and bright, but I found it charming. The restaurant serves Pepsi products. The menu was long and very well organized. The waiters were all pleasant. They stopped by frequently to see if we needed refills on drinks, chips, or salsa. That is a top to me - never having an empty glass. We had ice water and sodas, all of which tasted crisp. We ordered the Mexico Lindo with steak (steak fajita with the veggies over rice with queso dip poured over) and the Chicken Quesadilla (fajita chicken, cheese, tomatoes, onions, and green peppers inside). We also ordered the queso dip, which was extremely creamy! The wait for the food may have been slightly longer than I am used to, but it was worth it. (And by slight, I mean just minutes) The food was hot and amazing! The quesadilla was huge for $5.99 and very, very good. The chips were crunchy and the salsa was perfectly mild. It was not hot in flavor, but it had just enough of a kick for me to crave a sip of soda. With the cute decor, never-empty drinks, hot and delicious food, and great prices, I am *lucky* to have found this place. Mexican restaurants are few and far between in northern Wisconsin. I am glad that I found one delicious and close-by. I will definitely be returning. (NOTE: The parking lot is not enormous, but I visited on a week night, so I had no problem finding a space.)

First of all, I love the food! But, lately the service has been worthy of 1 star only. So rude! Let's step up your attitude, Wait Staff. Bring it up to meet the quality of your food. If you mess/mix up an order or bill, please don't be nasty to the customer for bringing to your attention. Then to throw the money at them that you overcharged them, AGAIN, is awful. I like to tip well, but you got back what you threw at me. If you offer a special, give it to us! Sorry for this review, because I like the food, I don't like to be treated badly when I dine out.

The guacamole is bland the sauces are all processed and not made on site and the salsa tastes like it's from a jar.

casa mexicana is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Chayanne is my favorite waiter of all time!

Great, great service. Chayanne is very energetic and always smiling. Food is very good but don't expect gourmet. Wish they did molé here... chips and salsa starter is so delicious too. More than I could ever expect from a town of 8000 in the deep north of Wisconsin. We'll be back!

This is my favorite restaurant in Rhinelander! The restaurant is decorated beautifully, the wait staff and cooks are top notch, and the prices are unbeatable! The portions are enormous, and the staff are happy to accommodate special requests. Go here for a fun time!!!

We ordered shrimp relleno, chicken chimichanga, chimichanga supremes, and fajita with everything. The portions were quite large, prices reasonable, and the food delicious. Service was quite good too. Can't give 5 stars due to over the top decor and for departure from the original (and menu): specifically, the shrimp relleno was described as stuffed with shrimp and cheese, but instead both were put on top of the chille and the cheese was very watery (it should be thick).

Casa Real is no more, having been replaced by new owners with a joint they call "Casa Mexicana". The new place is MUCH nicer than the old, and the food is tremendously better. I'll leave a more detailed review for when the new listing with the new name hits Yelp....

We have been coming here since the place opened. It is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. But at a recent visit we had a bad experience. There was hair in the salsa. We complained to our wait person. They told us that is to be expected. Needless to say we walked out to never to return. I highly recommend to everyone to stay away, if there is hair in the salsa what else is in the food!

The dinner room tables and booths are a little tacky but the food was rather delicious and the outside looks the same. However, I got the veggie D combo and I thought it was good. The cheese quesadilla was the best. Bean burrito was rather bland and the chalupa was good. For being in northern Wisco, you can't expect too much. If in town, definitely worth checking out.

In summary, I ate so much I sort of hated myself. The place was totally decked out with colorful carved wood from Mexico. The wait staff was always available and checking in, which we appreciated, since we were hogging out on chips and salsa with regular speed. I had the fajitas which were fantastic and served with a generous portion of guacamole. My friends had a delicious chicken and cheese dish and chilaquiles, respectively. We were all super content with our food and the experience. Drawbacks? I may need to go up a size in these pants. Also, I should mentioned the prices were a little higher than other spots in Rhinelander, but the portions are gigantic and the food is super tasty.

As a Mexican place in Rhinelander, I'd give it 2 stars. As a Mexican place in general, it's awful. Overpriced compared to other Rhinelander options. Horribly bland food (especially the salsa) that all tastes the same. These guys are taking advantage of a community with no grasp of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Best Mexican food in the Northwoods hands down. We usually have great service, but we dined there on a Saturday night and it was awful. Our waitress forgot about us after we were seated. My two year old became antsy and was screaming. After flagging the waitress down she quickly got our order in. When the food came, everything tasted good. Again, when we finished our waitress was doing a million other things, and I had to go up to the front counter to get boxes and pay our bill. This is not my typical experience there, but the waitress was so distracted that night.

In Rhinelander for business and decided to check it out. Bad mistake!!! The service was great, but the food was awful. Very bland and nothing including the salsa had any taste. I have lived in the southwest and maybe asking too much, but the chicken was not even properly cooked. Very rubbery.... I do not recommend this place at all.

I've had Mexican food all over this nation, and this place was surprisingly good for a small town in northern Wisconsin. The salsa with the free chips was terribly bland (as mild as ketchup), but the chile rellano was good and spicy, as it should be. Margaritas are very good here, maybe a touch on the sweet side, but again, northern Wisconsin (what do you expect?). All in all, friendly service, an eye-popping atmosphere, and great food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
