Great Wisconsin value! You can eat like a king and not break the bank and it's quality food! Definitely order the battered cheese curds and the Friday night fish fry is also solid. No beers on draft which is annoying. It's pure WI atmosphere and style, so if you're not use to that you might be a bit shocked and let's face it you're probably in the wrong valley! Go Kickapoo!

We were there over an hour to get our food. Several tables that arrived after us got their food before us. The fried cheese curds were huge and the breading had slid off which turned them into enormous chunks of melted cheese. I just want to reiterate, these were HUGE chunks of cheese with little breading. My olive hamburger was covered with a ton of canned chopped black and green olives. I like olives but it never occurred to me the olives would be right out of a can and have no additional preparation.

So, they are very proud of the fact that their food is "home made," but that doesn't mean it's great. Had a fish fry lunch and the batter was great, but the au gratin potatoes were BLAND!. They made their blue cheese salad dressing and that was good, with big chunks of cheese, but on the watery side. Tartar sauce has virtually no pickle relish; just mayo, I think. Apple pie crust was underdone and lacked flavor; some salt in the dough and a higher temp oven would have helped. The pie filling looked like canned stuff. As usual, the food in Southwest Wisconsin is awful, except for the Viroqua Food Coop.

ate there recently with a large group for my mother-in-laws birthday. even though there were only two waitresses for then entire party room, the service was still quite good. my wife and I each had the broiled chicken which was very good, crispy outside, tender and juicy on the inside. along with the meal we also were given some packaged crackers, a plate with a few pieces of carrots and celery, some small dinner rolls with packaged butter, and a small scoop of cheese spread. nothing wrong with free appetizers! that's where the good news ends. the prices are terrible! 4 pieces of chicken (all white meat) was $12.95! all it came with was a small scoop of mashed potatoes with gravy. I've had this meal in other diners and never paid more than $9. also, diners like this are supposed to be family friendly, which in turn means kid friendly. guess what? no kids menu! you have to order either an expensive entrée for them, or an adult sized sandwich. fine, if your kids are older or have a big appetite. for smaller kids or kids that don't eat much? guess they don't care about them! we had to order from the appetizer menu, and ordered chicken strips. 4 pieces for about $5, if memory serves correctly. and even though the chicken my wife and I had was good, they managed to royally screw up something as simple as chicken strips. thin, bland, flavorless and straight from the freezer. most kids love chicken strips, so when your son takes his first bite and says "these suck" you know something is wrong! overall, good service, some food good, some not good, and everything over-priced. would never choose to eat here again.
