AMAZINGLY GOOD FOOD. The egg rolls here are MADE HERE. There are SO MANY Chinese restaurant trying to sell us frozen (food service) egg rolls. My FAVORITE DISH is their ''Super Special'' #2 Eight Delicious Chicken. The sweat and spicy (you can order it as spicy OR NO spicy) sauce and the 7 vegetables are SO FRESH. You get some spice and then the sweet vegetables tame down the spice. I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS Great tasting food. I would eat THIS everyday......! I have been eating here for MORE THAN 25 years and I eat Chinese food MORE THAN once a week and I say Whey Chai Chinese Restaurant in Racine IS THE BEST!

Awful! Don't go here. Just ordered Tso Chicken. One piece had chicken in it, the rest was all flour and cooked so long and hard you could barely cut it. Egg roll and fried rice were over cooked as well. Very bad. We'll never go back.

This used to be considered the best Chinese in Racine but a lot has changed over the years. The food is average, it is hit or miss, sometimes it is ok, other times it is not. The last time I ate there I ordered I got some vegetable fried rice, tea and my friend got a chicken dish. She said her food was all right, mine wasn't, it was dry, tasted like they just poured soy sauce over it and the vegetables didn't taste very fresh. The tea I was provided tasted off, like it had been reheated a number of times and the cup was dirty so I had to request another one. Where I was sitting someone must have spilled their soda on the floor because my shoes were getting stuck to the floor. It is no longer the 1990's, you have to continue to earn your status as best of. They still have the sign sitting on the front of their business saying they were the best of a decade or two ago, that should tell you something. There are quite a few choices in Racine for Chinese (Rong Hua being my personal favorite) and I just can't suggest this to anyone.

Love this place. Service is always great along with the food. Love the watermelon smoothie, pick one up if you want to know what summer tastes like.

I have had a very good experience with Whey Chai. I've been a customer for several years and have truly enjoyed their food. I really like their egg rolls, chicken fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. Great place and I will continue to order from them. Owner is a very nice person.

I see a lot of bad reviews for this place, but they seem dated. I gave it shot and it was fantastic! They presented me with a new menu with the pictures of the food. I had the spicy shrimp with a pineapple smoothie, both were fantastic. I went back the next day I ordered the BBQ pork with Teriyaki chicken in a noodle soup. They gave me a huge portion very filling. Tasted good, but I still prefer the spicy shrimp. Mango smoothie was great. I will be going once a week from now on.

Filthy, and everything tastes like grease and peanut butter. Even the food that isn't fried. I just don't get it. I have honestly given them chance after chance after chance and they disappoint at every turn. They desperately need to scrub the place from too to bottom with moratic acid and bleach, and then they need to seriously rethink their culinary methods if they ever want to lose their reputation as a major dive.

You 1-star reviewers are obviously competitors. Not only is this Chinese food good, it's one of the best places in Racine. We're from out of state so I could care less what goes on in Racine but I feel compelled to tell the truth when asked. Maybe you guys had a substitute chef that night, I dunno. But the place wasn't dirty AT ALL, it was very clean. I say keep up the good work guys!

I don't know about the other reviewers, but this place makes the most delicious and unique General Tso's Chicken I have ever had! Don't expect it to be like anybody's elses. It's also not spicy. My friend would always get their Sweet and Sour Chicken, and claimed it is her favorite from any chinese place. I have tried some of the other dishes, and found them to be ok, but not spectacular. I think they also have a location in Zion, which I'll have to keep in mind. I'm now back in Chicago and really don't order General Tso from anyplace now. Nothing compares to Whey Chai's version, NOTHING! I have eaten inside, and found it to be an ok restaurant to have lunch or dinner. I was usually ordering delivery though.

I often see Whey Chai get slammed in reviews, but I honestly don't think there is a better option in Racine for Chinese food. I've been going here for years, and always get what I expect. I can't comment on every item, but these are part of my regular routine: -The eggrolls are great. Yes, they are oily, but after a bit of paper towel I revel in the peanut-buttery goodness they contain. -The sweet & sour chicken is made from actual breaded chicken pieces, and ARE NOT the typical "little bits of chicken coated in huge, puffy batter." -The cashew chicken is speciality, and tastes much better than other versions I've had anywhere else. - The egg foo young is solid. -The General Tso's chicken is definitely different than what you'd expect from other places (the sauce is savory instead of sweet), but it's still pretty good in its own right. I've had MAIN MOON, and their food just seems much more canned, ready-made and processed to me. Maybe there are other options in Racine that kick WC's metaphorical butt, but I've yet to find them. Oh, and this is DEFINITELY a take-out place... the other comments on the interior decor are spot on.

Worst Chinese food I ever tasted!!!! The noodle dish tasted as the same as the other dishes. Soy sauce galore!! This is the 1st and the last time I will be going.

What a dump! Like others have said, the brown goo does nothing for the Gen. Tso's dish. Also, the deep fried egg rolls are gross, dripping with grease and very large. I kept expecting cockroaches to crawl out of the paneling on the wall. Pass it by and eat something else, perhaps mcdonalds! ug, stay away.

I think they must have changed owners or something. The decor is still dated, the place is still run-down, but the food is at least palatable now. Fortunate, since I live nearby and love cheap Chinese.

This is a run down, unclean, depressing place. Food is below standard for this type of restaurant. General Tso's Chicken was not spicy, was smothered in a dark brown gravy that one might expect to find on a hot beef sandwich. Moo Shu Pork tasted slightly spoiled. We consumed only a small part of the food, declined to take the left overs home. On top of everything else, there was a soft rock radio station playing loudly complete with commercials.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
