Mosquito Inn

3208 4 Mile Rd
Racine, 53404
Reviews:
Total dive bar, local favorite. Out of towner's dream. Clientele as expected sans mosquitos (went in October). Play pool. There's a jukebox and an outdoor area too. Wine is bad, go for the beer. note on the electronic darts: if you want a normal game where the highest score wins play 'count up'.

Dickies

Reviews:
For those who like freedom to lounge as they like, there is Dickie's. The clientele are lower class or blue collar. They have a great covered outdoor space, including an outdoor bar and frequently, outdoor heating. There is an outdoor stage as well. Karaoke Friday night (though many of the singers lack talent). Weekends feature outdoor parties and cookouts. They have some casino type tables and scheduled pool league. Plenty of screens - even one outdoors. I love this place.

A great neighborhood bar that gives free food for Packer games the Place has a warm, family atmosphere and is small enough to hear all the conversations. Every seat in the place has an interesting view and this place is just a cool small neighborhood bar

La Morenita

Reviews:
If you are in Racine, WI driving down Washington Ave headed West your eyes may catch to LA MORENITA if you are paying attention. This is a small local, family owned business that doesn't have the attention grabbing outdoor advertising as other restaurants do so you may miss it if you aren't paying attention. To those who do catch it, GO IN and GET SOME REAL MEXICAN FOOD. This place has some of the BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food I have ever had. Though the menu is small, this business is fairly new and will do GREAT with this kind of cuisine as their product. Go in and get some great food, LA MORENITA is absolutely worth it.

Wilson’s Coffee & Tea

3306 Washington Ave
Racine, 53405
Reviews:
I came here just to get a half pound of Antiqua, but I ended up staying for a hot cider. The interior is a bit worn out looking, but who cares? It's all about the Java, and they even roast their own. There are few coffee shops in the area, 2 in Racine and Kenosha combined, that don't say Starbucks. This one predates them all and is the only one who roasts the beans on site.
Traveling through Racine and very happy to find great Espresso, friendly and knowledgable Baristas and what appears to be a local hangout.
Undoubtedly, this place is a gem. They painstakingly roast their beans from the unique growing locations that span the globe. They roast in-shop, in view, and by hand (with the precise use of computer monitors and sensors to ensure proper temperature and the like, not to mention continual smelling of small samples taken from the machine as it roasts). I spoke with the roaster, and he told me about his personal relationship with one of the growers, where the grower gives him first dibs on the season's fresh crop. The bags of beans they sell are almost never more than a couple weeks old - you can often find beans that were roasted the day before, and usually you'll find beans that were roasted that week. I can't speak for the tea, but they offer great varieties. Their drip coffee on special is very rich and fresh. They also offer mostly any variety coffee you find for sale on the shelf to be freshly ground and brewed using a French press (if the full flavor and nuance of coffee is desired, this is probably my favorite route). They offer unique bakery items, which I suspect they make themselves. The candy and snacks they have for sale are very unique - they include things like imported candies and single-origin chocolates. If you need something relating to the manual brewing of coffee or tea, this is the place to go! They have it all. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and will recognize you as a regular.

Bendtsen’s Bakery

3200 Washington Ave
Racine, 53405
Reviews:
Bendsten's is the best Kringle bakery in Southeast Wisconsin - bar none. They are the only bakery here that I know of that still uses butter and hand makes all of their Kringles. Each Kringle is a gastronomic work of art! And the variety! Pecan Almond Apple Apricot Cherry Blueberry Raspberry Walnut Turtle Cranberry Cranberry Walnut Cream Cheese Cherry Cheese
Ooooooo Get the top hat cupcake, chocolate cake, peaked with white frosting, then dipped in a chocolate coating. Yum!!!
When I'd go home to God's Country in Wisconsin, I'd usually get Lehman's kringle they have a store close to my mom's house. BUT, someone had given us a Bendtsen's kringle a few wks back and we noticed a difference in the crust. Don't get me wrong...Lehman's is "the jam" too. But there's something unique about the kringle at Bendtsens...their uber fantastic crust. It was a few bucks more, but well worth it IMO. I'll still frequent all the bakeries in Racine for their kringle...to spread the love, but will most definitely be coming back to Bendtsen's.

O & H Danish Bakery

1841 Douglas Ave
Racine, 53402
Reviews:
O&H is locally known for the best kringle around but sometimes we forget about all the other delicious goodies they have. I remember it was always a treat as a child when my grandma would bring me to O&H for one of their decorated cookies. I stopped in today and wanted to try something different. The woman behind the counter recommended the cinnamon snail and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten! You just can't miss out on this amazing bakery!
Excellent, as everyone else has noted, the staff was so kind; when I wanted to have a small kringle (which they don't make) they offered to give me two of the sample pieces from the counter so I could take them back to the hotel to share with family. Fantastic, light, dry and so yummy!
The bakery here is not a restaurant where you can sit be served and eat. It's a bakery where you can buy all kinds of tasty treats. I came across the seasonal special of the pumpkin Kringle. I may not be a Dane, but I am European and know a great product when I taste it, and the food here is scrumptious! This bakery makes more authentic Danish things than most American bakeries. A Kringle is a circular ring shaped pastry in Scandinavian countries. In Dutch it's called krakeling. It's all very tasty, but what surprised me here was the pricing. I just came across the exact OH Bakery Kringle for $4.99 at Trader Joe's. At the bakery here it's around $8.00, but mail order it's $19.99 and that's not including shipping of $10.00! This pastry is good ,but not $20.00 good! So for me to find it for $4.99 is quite a deal! I'm gonna go get another! These might not be the most healthy thing to be eating, but it sure is tasty!

Corner Connection

6961 Douglas Ave
Racine, 53402
Reviews:
Wow! I'm so happy to give this place it first review!! I love this bar!! I have been passed it over and over again without stopping, but once I made that one stop to check it out, I really enjoy it and have been back numerous times. It is exactly what it seems to be, a small local bar on the corner of 6 mile and 32. It looks like a normal bar on the outside, but when you go in you may notice it recently got completely remodeled due to a fire in the last year or two. You will notice the "new" smell and you will probably see the owner, Duke behind the bar or at the bar. He is very friendly so be sure to say hi and I'm sure he'll make you feel right at home. All the bartenders are fantastic too. Corner Connection is a great place to watch Sunday football or any sport for that matter, have a drink or a few, or join a horseshoes league. You will see a nice pool table, but I'm not sure if they have a pool league. Amy, one of the main bartenders, will plan small events once in awhile such as a chili cook off.
A dive bar on a corner in a rural area between Milwaukee and Racine. nothing really to see here but the service was good.
