I have moved from Las Vegas to Oshkosh and let me tell you there a huge difference in food. Moving here I tried cheese curds for the first time and figured out what a bubbler was but one thing was missing in my life; good Chinese food. I have been use to having a variety of Chinese food to pick from then moving here I was down to 3-4 max. After trying a couple of other places I found China 1. I walked into the place and was kinda skeptical at first. It was a hole in the wall and I was iffy on trying the food; but I still continued in. I was greeted with a hello by the cashier with a smile and proceeded to the front of the counter. I examined the menu for a while. I had finally decided to order and went with the crab ragoons, BBQ boneless spare ribs, chicken lo mein, and chicken with broccoli. The girl at the register repeated everything back to me and then gave me a total and told me it would be about 15 minutes. While I was waiting I was able to look into the kitchen since they had an open kitchen. It was cool being able to watch my food be freshly prepared and before I knew it my food was ready within 10 minutes. When I got home and opened the bag I was welcomed with a amazing aroma. The food was delicious and I was quite surprised since this place was kinda runned down. I would refer anyone to this place it has great Chinese food and is freshly prepared. (:

I do not often get the urge for Chinese takeout food, which I consider a good thing health wise. There are your higher end joints like PF's out there of course, but just about every town in America has a few local places that all have nearly identical menus and/or buffets to fill the American appetite for copious amounts of cholesterol, nitrates, and MSG. They operate under the guise of being "ethnic", and the other popular descriptor "authentic". Sure, these places are "authentic" I suppose, but only in the same fashion that a pack of 10 cent Ramen noodles is. China 1 is probably about like any other such establishment you have ever ordered from in your life, with a dip in quality from the norm. The food I ordered from here online via eatstreet was delivered in record time (about 20 min). Considering they are located across town from me, that should give you some idea as to the amount of preparation that goes into the food. The food arrived scalding hot, which was nice, but it had also obviously been under a warmer, as they likely just grabbed items off their buffet, threw it in a box and sent it to my place. Everything I sampled was almost entirely devoid of any discernible flavor, save the tub of maple syrup consistency sweet and sour sauce, and was about as unsatisfying as it gets. I do not know about you guys, but if I am willing to splurge and eat some food that is completely awful for me, I want to have some big payoff in the form of taste. There is none to be found here. Buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's instead.

Per a friend and 4 awards on the wall, this place is the best Chinese in Oshkosh -- and that scares me a little. They use EatStreet for online ordering, so that was a quick and easy process (though apparently they automatically add the tip if you opt for delivery...not cool, guys), and it quoted me a whopping 15 minutes til my order would be ready for carryout. FYI, folks are correct in describing this place as a dump. I would never in a million years actually eat here, but the open kitchen was hopping and the delivery guy was loading up to go on a run. Once home, the food was all piping hot, but sadly disappointing. The steamed dumplings were nothing special, the crab rangoon had barely a trace of crab stick in it, and the fried wrappers were sorely lacking seasoning -- did you know that plain wontons taste like exactly nothing? The boyfriend's spicy triple delight had zero spice (even I could barely taste anything, and I have ZERO spice tolerance), and my sesame chicken...oh god. It was so painfully, syrupy, sugary sweet, I had to use a scary amount of salt to make it even marginally palatable. So -- if this is the best in Oshkosh, they clearly don't have much competition. I'm never coming back to China 1.

In the city of Oshkosh I would rate this little hole in the wall the best Chinese restaurant. The menu is your typical Chinese menu but what makes it stand out is the quality. Good smoky flavor of the fried rice and lo mein and even if you order delivery it's piping hot. The seating is small and run down but the food is what makes this little restaurant shine. The beauty is you get to see right in the kitchen as they make your food and the spectacle of them operating that wok is one to adore. Some of my favorites include the Mongolian beef, chicken wings, and duck. The General Tso's chicken is a little too sweet for me but some if you may like it. The lunch combo platters are relatively cheap and you get plenty. The dinner combo plates are also decently priced and you get more than enough. They do offer a lunch buffet but seating is limited and there are only 5-7 items on the cart. But it's the take out and delivery that kept this place going. I give it average for menu and above average for quality and flavor.

Excellent Chinese delivery or takeout. Dining room is a little on the sketchy side but the food is excellent.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
