The Chalice is my new favorite place to eat in Oshkosh! I had never been here before, despite having spent all of my teenage years living in Oshkosh, and I wish I had eaten here sooner! I went to lunch with a ladyfriend, and ordered a Black Forest--roast beef and turkey with mozzarella instead of Swiss, pasta salad, and iced tea. The sandwich was great, and came with Chalice sauce, which I could literally dip anything in, it's that good. The pasta salad was good, but a little dry, like it had been sitting around or didn't have enough dressing on it. The restaurant is really cute and cozy on the inside, and the service was great! I'll definitely be going back.

So good. One of my favorites. Chicken deluxe or Deluxe burger. Yum.

I have always loved this place, and I usually eat here when I am visiting Oshkosh. But, this last visit was very unwelcoming! My Sister, Mother and I came in on a Saturday night. The woman behind the counter made it very clear to us that the wait for the table was long and she pretty much was expecting us to leave? Instead we put our name on the list. A few spots at the bar opened up and we sat down to her very territorial and rude look?!! We asked if it was ok if we ordered dinner at the bar...normal right? She clearly did not want us sitting there, but said yes. The topper is how I had to flag her down with an Excuse Me? to order another drink with my meal and she gave me the look of death?! Should I not order? For a restaurant that prides itself on friendly service, this was the total opposite. We are respectful, good tipping customers....shouldn't we be treated like we belong there?

I must not "get" the Oshkosh food scene because the Chalice did not live up to the five star ratings that other yelpers have given it. Yes, there's a fire place and the server was attentive. But, the menu was weird, the salads all had melted cheese on them (WTF?), and the food wasn't really that great.

The sandwiches were really good, I had a roast beef and provolone. If I lived near The Chalice I would routinely be on the list. Each sandwich comes with your choice of a variety of salads (Apple Waldorf?! Pasta or Tomato Salad). I chose the pasta salad despite reading a review that it was dry and bland (which was unfortunately confirmed).

Ate here before a wedding. Cozy inside. Warm with fireplaces. The bread is AMAZING. We all had sandwiches and all of us loved them. The chicken is tender and the bread I can't even describe. Service was also great. Prices are a little higher than usual but not so much as to not make it worth it. For dessert we had some little rice crispy treat things with butterscotch and that was amazing as well. Would definitely come back!!!!

The hamburgers are the best I've ever had. I actually stopped eating so many hamburgers and I vowed that the only time I would eat hamburgers would be at the Chalice. When people visit from out of town, we drive down to Oshkosh to get some hamburgers. The homemade fried potato chip thingees with cheese are awesome too. I don't usually drink much when I'm out at restaurants, but I've heard the mixed drinks are really good too.

Seriously the best place to eat in town!!! When I want to try a new place to eat, I come to yelp. The reviews are nothing short of right on with The Chalice!! Sooooo good!! Super cute and cozy inside, awesome friendly staff, and most of all phenominal food! Their seafood bisque is out of this world! There marinated tomatoes taste like home grown (idk if they were or not). Their thousand island dressing was absolutely the best Ive ever had! Ever! I havent been able to stomach meat, as I am pregnant, but their sandwiches looked amazing.. Son and husband confirmed they are! Definately have to try this place- you will not be sorry!!

I am not a big fan of bar and grill restaurants but this one is a little different. The atmosphere is cozy with a fireplace in the dining room. My absolute favorite is the Philly cheesesteak. It's not greasy, great mustard sauce and the apple salad is great.

Can you say COZY, DELICIOUS & AWESOME? We love this place because owners Paula and Bill know how to run a restaurant. EVERYTHING is delish. Usually busy but the service is impeccable and friendly!! Go here again and again, the locals do!

9 bucks for a sandwich and salad. Also got a surprise dessert. I'm passing through town and this was the only place I could find that I would even consider going inside to eat. I wasn't disappointed. I had the chicken cordon blue sandwich. It was yummy. The side tomato salad was good but it tasted like the tomatoes were old. If it was fresh I bet it would have been delicious. The chair I sat in was wooden and firm. Side note - Why does every place in Wisconsin have to have a bar?!

Wow! I drive by this place every nearly every single day but I have never once stopped in. Big mistake on my part, as I could easily become a regular at this joint after my initial visit. I decided to stop in this evening with the GF and our dining experience was exceptional. The interior is very quaint and inviting, especially on a chilly Wisconsin evening, and both our hostess and server were cordial and pleasant. Our server, who could probably tell I had never been in before from the quizzical look on my face, gave us a full breakdown with superb accuracy. I am not normally a fan of "foo foo" martinis, but on the servers suggestion I tried out the mounds bar martini and it was fantastic. Just enough of the heavy stuff to know I am drinking a cocktail, but not so strong that I could use it to peel paint with either. Quite refreshing. I am a huge fan of mushrooms, and the portobello bites were heavenly. I have had stuffed mushrooms, and a million other variations as appetizers before and this was among the very best I have tried. I had the Haddock Au Gratin for an entree as it seemed like a fresh take on a familiar fish. I enjoyed every bite of it as well. It was topped with fresh broccoli, lots of provolone, and a side of garlic toast. Yum! I am not normally the type of person to give out 5 star reviews like candy, especially for places that I have only visited once since I feel that consistency is a critical variable that warrants 5 stars. However, in this instance I am willing to make an exception as I do not get "wowed" when out dining often, especially in Oshkosh. This place could easily become a contender for my night out dollar that normally goes to the Roxy down the street. I would highly recommend you check this place out.

Good service poor food options. They only have American fries for a starch and they were not fully cooked-pasta salad is Suddenly Salad, bacon was over cooked for BLT. Probably won't come back.

The boyfriend and I had dinner here last night with another couple, and honestly, we should have just stayed home and cooked ourselves. I called earlier in the week to make a reservation (assuming that Chalice is pretty popular), but was told that while they do take reservations during the week, they do not on Fridays and Saturdays. Which kind of defeats the point of taking reservations, if you ask me, and should be clearer on their website. On arrival, the boyfriend and I went in what turned out to be the back door and came in around the bar. There's no host stand -- the people behind the bar seem to take care of that. Our request for a table for 4 (this was exactly 6pm on a Saturday) was met with an estimated 20-30 minute wait...but as soon as I asked if he needed a name, he then said that he did have a table and just needed to set it. Ok, then. Btw, this place is TINY. I estimate it can seat 30 people max in the dining room, plus the largish bar. Seated, we browsed the menu and placed drink orders. They have Spotted Cow, though I somehow expected it to be draft (it was bottled, but they brought a glass). The white sangria was decent. The waiter was friendly, came by at regular intervals, and kept my water topped off. However, everyone at the table agreed that the food was, not just bland, but boring. The boyfriend ordered the broccoli bites appetizer, which was steamed broccoli (to be fair, cooked through and piping hot), topped with mushrooms and onions, with a side of ranch and garlic bread. He also ordered the entree special, a steak cooked in French onion soup, and substituted the potato side for broccoli, resulting in an entree that was pretty much the same thing, only with steak added. A mention from the waiter about that would have been nice! I ordered the garlic and butter haddock, but I saw and tasted neither garlic nor butter on it, and in fact it arrived completely covered in a pile of onions, mushrooms, and peppers, kind of like fajita veggies. The entire thing was completely flavorless and boring -- I would have believed it was any kind of fish, and it was not remotely interesting or enjoyable to eat. The side of sliced potatoes had been pan fried, I think, and some were very overdone and crunchy (in a bad, chewy way), while others were totally underdone. Italian seasoning had been dumped across a portion of them, but it didn't add anything. My side of tomato salad consisted of sliced tomatoes again covered in Italian seasoning, but needed some oil or vinegar or something to liven it up (the boyfriend makes much better). The weird thing overall is that I can pretty much tell you their grocery list based on the things that were on practically every dish! Plus, their "Chalice sauces" or whatever mostly appeared to be mayo-based -- mayo and Dijon mustard, in the case of the person who ordered the turkey sandwich. Not that secret or amazing, guys. The menu itself seemed a little weird -- as someone else pointed out, melted cheese on all the salads, bleu cheese on a LOT of items, etc. Total for the table, including 2 drinks and 1 appetizer, was $78. However, we realized that the French onion soup that someone had ordered had never arrived. It didn't appear to be on the hand-written check, but it's pretty annoying when things get forgotten. I accepted an offer of a box (since I mostly ended up eating bread) and left it on the table on purpose, but the waiter ran after us with it. So, credit for that, but the meal overall was terrible. I would never go back to Chalice!

Full parking lot with good reason! Upon entering the establishment we were seated immediately but did arrive just as the lunch hour opened up (11ish) which was good because it fills in pretty quick. Our service was completely awesome while at the restaurant and is the difference that brings it to the 5 star rating. We explained to our server that we had never been in before and asked for some recommendations. We placed our order of chicken bleu and the Philly roast beef. The option comes with the sandwiches to get fries, a specialty salad, or soup. We ordered the fries with our meals what happened next caught me off guard a bit. Our server came out with all 4 of the specialty salads and said "Since you have not been in before we wanted you to be able to try our various salads". The complimentary gesture is one reason that I will return again. On to the salads: Coleslaw - the slaw actually has pineapple in it which actually works really well and is good Pasta salad - a bit dry but very flavorful and good Apple Waldorf- very tasty Marinated tomatoes - these were great as well (they can be paired with the pasta salad if chosen we were told in the future) We also ordered a "Nutty Irishman" which was a very good tasting drink. The sandwiches came out in very little time so I would recommend it for a lunch break stop as well. The sandwiches are offered in a lunch or full size portion with the lunch size being very big. Both sandwiches were very good with the chicken bleu having a good amount of bleu cheese. Both just awesome! If that wasn't enough we were told that they give complimentary desserts, nothing off the menu or anything....just something small they bring you, during lunch. The restaurant really does take care of you as a customer with the service being great! Highly recommended!

good food. I dont get why they kept trying to force us to try the chalice sauce? When we asked for it to be removed we were instead treated to what appeared to be a gravy boat sized helping for each of us in a literal chalice. Somewhere i expect there is a chef giggling at the pun each time its served. staring at the dining room through peep holes in portrait giggling like gargamel from the smurfs as his plan is about to reach fruition. But seriously give the place a try.

recommended by a friend and finally tried it. Glad we did. Blue burger was great, cooked well and large. Rueben was just as good. We will be back and can't wait to sit on patio
