My husband and I decided to stop here for an early lunch on Sunday because I'd saved a coupon for this place. The large window and slight view of the lake across from our table was nice. We both ordered soups and different sandwiches with waffle fries. The soup wasn't very warm as if it had been reused from what was left over from the day before. My husbands chicken sandwich was so soaked with butter it should have been called a butter sandwich instead. My fish sandwich was ok, but not great. Our server was nice, but often times no where to be found so other servers would noticed when we were out of water or waiting a long time for our bill and would take over at times. Later that day, we both developed stomach issues we think from the warm soup that we both had?) We will not be returning to this place ever again.

We live in the area but this was our first experience at Burke's. Usually when we go by it's so crowded we pass it up. This time we went in the early afternoon to try their fish fry which we heard was good and reasonably priced. Mainly, we weren't disappointed and that's unusual for us when it comes to fish fry's. The interior is enormous and well decorated. The dark wood, rustic faux painted walls, and large front windows with a view to Silver Lake gave it a nice ambiance. The most important thing, the fish, was well above average and they give you a large portion. It was served with waffle fries, cole slaw, and a rye roll. I liked the cole slaw but the others in my party weren't thrilled with it. The roll looked like a large stone and was almost as hard. It was difficult to tear open and difficult to chew. I don't know why they just don't give you a bread basket. The menu was extensive with a wide selection of dishes and price ranges. The waiter was very attentive. We'll definitely come back for more.

I'd have to rate it zero stars but the waffle fries served with the small burger for $10 were okay. The $6 tiny cup of smoked tomato bisque was fairly tasteless and served lukewarm. Either hot or cold please. But the final death knoll (keep trying to get both good food & service periodically since they opened as Burke's Lakeside) was the Ahi tuna salad that was a minuscule piece of Ahi with several sprouts, a few pieces of carrot and jicama and a couple shavings of bitter watermelon for $18!! I say don't bother. Has gone from bad to worse under new owner who used to manage the place.

After a terrible experience the last time (see other review) - my husband and I decided to give it one more shot. Let me tell you - I am glad we did! We arrived pretty late for a Friday night (almost 8:00) and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. Again, we expected this as we know it is a busy place! We got two seats at the bar, had a beer, and were buzzed for our table out on the patio within 15 minutes! Clearly off to a much better start. Apparently this was the first night of them using their new menu. Our waitress did a great job explaining it to us, telling us what she had tried, and making recommendations. Service was so much improved from our last visit, we hung around for almost 2 hours! I am so glad we gave this a shot again. Definitely going to be a go-to spot for us, especially with the great patio! I had the Fish Tacos and hubby ordered the Blue Gill (which they were out of at that point), so he replaced with ribs. Without having to say anything, 2 of our drinks were comped (awesome move by our server). Great night and great way to kick off patio season!

Love this place! Food is great and the super club bloody mary is amazing - seriously, order it. They have great specials nightly and for Packer games on Sundays, but holy crap - whoever is in charge of the volume here needs to have their hearing checked! My voice is hoarse from having to scream everything the entire time and now have a headache... The DJ puts on music (most of the time) during commercials but it sounds just terrible at that volume... Maybe I'm just getting too old, but I doubt well be coming back for a game if this continues. Numerous people around us (until we asked to me moved away from the speakers) complained and even asked to turn it down, it has actually gotten worse since... Awesome.

The food is ok but overpriced in my opinion, the portions are small for what you pay and there's nothing beyond ordinary

First time there and not disappointed. Am very glad we got there early as this place filled up FAST!! WOW!! Turns out it fills up fast for a very good reason, the food is excellent!! For our Friday Fish Fry they had Cod and only Cod. It WAS great Cod!!! Soft, flakey and perfectly battered and fried, some of the best Cod I have had! Their Waffle Fries were also delicious. The meal was accompanied by Cloeslaw also excellent and a delicious Tartare sauce. Our starters were superb. Our waitress Lauren was friendly and attentive, she did an excellent job. A great even indeed!!

Today we journeyed to Burke's Lakeside for brunch and it was worth the 30 minute drive from Milwaukee. For just $12.95, you could access a buffet filled with made to order omelets and pasta, a selection of breads, pastries, fruit and eggs, french toast, pulled ham and more. The food was good, but the real reason for the pilgrimage was to try the Supper Club Bloody Mary. This drink is a masterpiece served on a Lazy Susan with all kinds of fixin's on the side. Visit outforbloodies.com for pics, a video and a full review.

I had their dining options at Summerfest - they did not disappoint - Lobster and shrimp BLT - and wild mushroom flat bread - both were so delicious- nice upgrade from typical festival food !

Giving this 3 stars is a stretch. First when we arrived we ask to be seated outside. Told since there were six of us not possible. We get squeezed into a booth. Ask the waitress why we can't sit outside, looks like there is room? Oh no problem, come with me!! Then the buffet, or lack there of i should say. There was a small fruit section. No salad bar. No fish or cheses for us non meat eaters. Hash browns were anemic. Scrambled eggs dry. I had a bagel with cream cheese. Waited five (no kidding!) minutes for bagel to toast. After five minutes i just popped it up and took the tiny bit of butter available and cream cheese. Brunch. Beware.

Really not too good. Not much fish in the fish tacos. French onion soup was old and boring. Menu was blah for lunch. I liked Burke's Lakeside, The Lakeside not so much. We don't need to go back.

Our first impression was fantastic! We will definitely make Burkes Lakeside a regular stop next time we come to town! I absolutely loved the Salmon. My husband said the chopped steak was ok, but would probably try something else next time. The atmosphere was warm & cozy despite the frozen lake & snow & the staff were very attentive and friendly. Id really like to come back in the summer & watch the sunset on the deck.

Usually a good meal but we were quite disappointed last night. Not only did they change the menu, they removed several of our favorite meals. Not sure how the decisions were made to remove the meals but they removed enough for us to look for other dining options in the area. One other thing, who exchanges pizza for flatbreads? While dining, the table next to us made some of the same comments mentioned. Not even the entertainment can get us back to your establishment. Good luck with the new changes.

To say this place is even remotely good would be a stretch, but I will start with some positives. If you go on a cloudy, windy, or cold day, there is usually good parking. It is somewhat unclear about how parking is a problem here because the number of cars seems to exceed the number of patrons by a lot. On an August 2015 visit, there were plenty of tables and our party of 3 was seated immediately. There is also a large outdoor covered patio and some apparently new garage door-type windows were installed to bring more of the outside in during good weather. The paper towel dispenser in the men's room also gave an unusually ample amount of paper with a swipe of the hand. There. I stated the good parts. HOSTESS=disinterested and showed no sense of hospitality SOUND=blaring from the 1980's-style rural hotel style disco dance floor complete with pulsing lights at 6:00 PM. Why? Maybe in hopes of attracting at least a single person to the floor. MENU=limited and confusing. Is this a bar? A restaurant? This document is very uneven and edited by someone who does not eat out too often. Here's an example. Cheeseburger. That's it. The whole explanation. Doesn't say you get to pick your cheese or if there are toppings. Bewildering, the price is indicated as 8/10. $8.00 or $10.00? How? Why? 80% of what? PORTIONS=we saw one family of four head out to the patio on this cool evening so that they could talk. Mom ordered some onion rings and registered her surprise when a HUGE bowl of soggy looking fries showed up. Four people could not eat all of them. Meanwhile inside, my burger showed up with 5 waffle fries. FOOD=While the only small salad on the menu is a wedge of iceberg lettuce, patrons can get a different one composed of mixed greens and formidable croutons from a bag for an undetermined upcharge. The three of us ordered burgers with sautéed mushrooms (not a listed menu option). These arrived on cold buns with plenty of raw red onion (also not listed on the menu). Had they been, I would have demured. The medium rare burger was medium well, though that might have actually helped provide some flavor to the gristly ground meat. There may have been Italian dressing, but the server didn't know and didn't offer to find out. SERVICE=Unless servers are downright rude, I rarely review them as individuals, but rather consider their failings as issues of training, supervision, and management. Our server was not rude, but really inept. Her social skills were minimal and her knowledge of the obscure menu was elementary. She offered nothing (no, "Let me get you some water as you look over the menu" or "Would anyone like dessert?") If you are jumping off a boat after skiing on Silver Lake, want a beer, hope to dance the late afternoon away, and are more interested in location than food or service, this might be the place for you. If all of these are not the case, skip it and head for Applebees or some chain where servers and managers are trained and the hospitality is at least a consideration.

Short version: Can someone please undo these changes? Long version: I've been to what was Burke's Lakeside several times, always for their delicious burgers with homemade chips, and the iceberg wedge salad. None of these things are on the menu anymore. There's a burger that is a pale imitation of the old Burke's burger/any of the special of the day burgers I've had there, and it is served with frozen waffle fries (for an extra charge). I decided to pass on the fries and get the melon and cucumber salad with my burger, and while it was certainly beautiful (little balls of melon and cucumber, arugula, mint vinaigrette) the dressing had almost no flavor (I got one bite that had a hint of mint in it) and it was served on a platter with no sides, making it nearly impossible to eat. Everything kept sliding off the plate when I tried to get it on my fork. It was probably about a cup and a half of food and it cost eleven bucks. (To offset the labor cost for making all those little balls?) I went with four other people who had never been there before and were anticipating a great burger. What an embarrassment, and a disappointment. The service at the old Burke's was never speedy, but this time it was downright abysmal. The fact that the place was nearly deserted during prime dinner time on a Saturday night makes me think the changes aren't popular with a lot of people. Unless something drastically changes, that was my last trip to the Lakeside.

I've only had a grilled cheese and Chile and some fancy appetizers. Pretty hard to screw up a grilled cheese but the chile was straight out of a can hormel chile so don't even bother please take it off the menu. Also not sure I get the fancy appetizers for such a not so fancy place and they were not the best so Id simplify and not try to be something your not.

I've been here several times. They have a great view of Silver Lake, the atmosphere is nice, the bar area is large and clean and they have some good bands every so often. I've had some great food and I've had some really "meh" food. I've had decent service, and I've had horrible service. Everything from slow, to incorrect order, to a waitress telling us the manager told her one thing only to find out (from the manager) she didn't talk to the manager at all! I have had some great food here and they have made the menu much smaller which, in my opinion, makes it much more likely that what you order will be good. The service is typically good, but it's just too inconsistant.

Went for mussels on Wednesday and they were rotten. Four dinners sent back. Manager never came out. Nothing comped. Just gave us menus and said order something else. We tried to get the manager Shane out to talk about it but he was too "busy". We even called the restaurant from our table to talk to him but he did not have time for us. Small town and we know a lot of people. Never going again. Thanks for not coming out to talk to us Shane.

The view of the lake was beautiful. Having said that it was downhill from there. There were 9 of us in town for a funeral and this restaurant had pretty good reviews so we decided to try it as we do not like chains. There were people at only one other table but no waitress showed up to take drink orders for 15 min. That should have warned us of things to come. Then we were about another 15 min before getting our drinks. The drink order was confused and not correct. We were more than ready to order and one person had a question about something on the menu. The waitress had to go ask in the kitchen. And it was 10-15 min before she returned with an answer. The wait for the food was at least 40 minutes. I would say the meals were ok but not great. Two different people at our table asked for the checks. The waitress left and after waiting at least another 20 min I went looking for her and another member of our party told the bar tender we needed our checks. Remember the restaurant was basically empty. The waitress wss nowhere to be found. I asked another waitress who was folding napkins to please find our waitress. After about 10-15 more minutes she showed up with the bills. I would never go back and would recommed to anyone when you see the first sign of inattention by the wait staff, leave immediately.

We went there for the Brunch on Fathers Day. Youch! The manager was having a meltdown, visibly. The omelet station was incompetent. They kept miss making omelets and placing them on a tray to go to the kitchen for garbage. There were so many at one point, we were tempted to start eating them (they looked good), because we had been waiting at the bar for 45 minutes, even though we had a reservation. The brunch ran out of food, they were throwing whatever they could find in the warmers. They never brought out anymore fresh fruit, hard to believe. Stay away for brunch, stick with their fish fry.

We go to Burke's often because it is close to our home. Great fish fry and wedge salad is also very good. Other menu items are average. Bread seems to be a challenge to get to the table right away- but if your server actually gets you some it is very good. Wait staff is rarely attentive and seems to have a lot of turn over.

I went to Burke's Lakeside for Father's Day and had a very pleasant meal! They had a vast selection of some non-traditional offerings. Appetizer - Started with Lobster wontons. Had real chunks of lobster meat and with the cheese and dipping sauce they were very tasty Entrees - Scallop BLT salad was great. Scallops cooked well. Others had Cobb Salad, Chicken Fingers, and the Tapas platter and all enjoyed the food. Overall it's a new place to try in the area and we had nice service!

Hate to do it, but people need to know .... this is no longer Burkes and that's not a good thing. 4 of us went recently and were very disappointed. The amount of fish on the fish taco was sardine sized, truly. When it was brought to the attention of the manager, we were informed that each fish serving is weighed and appropriated accordingly. So, I guess if you like teeny portions ...... While he was talking to us I witnessed 2 wait staff (bus staff?) setting a table. The large paper topper blew off the table, as we were sitting close to the patio door, and they picked it up off the floor and put it right back on the table. I brought this to the attention of the manager and was told that wouldn't be a problem going forward as they were getting new tables and there would just be wood tops. :-( One of the things I loved about Burkes was the ambiance with nice linen table clothes - for lunch and dinner. No more. Lastly, the platters the food was served on were not at all appropriate for the food served. Our fish tacos had the juices running all over the place. A proper plate would have caught the juices - instead of our napkins and laps. The young woman who served us was very good, but I'm afraid her good service didn't make up for the overall disappointing experience. There are lots of other places to go in the Lake Country with great patio/deck service. You'll find me there.

I like the space. Huge bar. Really friendly/adorable staff. Not professional staff. Just shiny happy people. Summertime deck overlooking the lake. Pretty quiet, considering you're on Hwy B. I've been here a handful of times; mainly for brunch. The (enormo) Breakfast Burrito plate is AM Recovery Bliss..... (sigh) I'm a breakfast perfectionist, and this is as close as it comes. Massive tortilla wrapped around a PERFECTLY-balanced thin-omelette layer of egg, wrapped around a pile of sauteed peppers/onions, wrapped around (what I believe is) chorizo. I crave this. All day. And, it's like $9. So, get up. Run to Anodyne (KK). The 20 oz. will get you through the drive to Burke's. Have a burrito at the bar. Chat up the staff. Sports on the handful of flat screens. Always a paper laying around. Add a bloody. Time for a nap.

Ok I hate giving not great reviews but this just can't be passed on. I sat at the bar even and it was not busy. I sat down and was asked what I wanted to drink quick. This was great but then it went downhill, after 10-15 mins I was asked what I wanted to order, it took average time so no complaint. Burger was great by the way!! Ok, so I have been sitting here with a empty beer glass with my wallet and Visa card on the bar waiting to check out for over 15 mins! I'm not the guy who freaks out but come on! I'm still waiting while I'm writing this review! Overall good burger , but bar service was extremely slow.

Great find! Delicious dinners, super service and the price is reasonable. We almost didn't go there based on the 2 1/2 star rating. I don't know where that is coming from. The atmosphere is very Wisconsin "Super Club". And that is fantastic! - Really! The menu has great variety. Something for every taste. Ask the server for suggestions... we did and were not disappointed at all. Try the cast iron salmon. Excellent!! It is located on a lake so the view is spectacular. We were there at sunset and it was like a postcard. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.

We just had lunch there for the last time. I was one of their first customers when they opened and went there three times a week when Sean (owner) managed the place. For the last three years I have seen a steady and rapid decline in service and food quality. How do you screw up a BLT and salad? We waited 35 minutes for a steak salad made with pan fried skirt steak and a BLT that the bread was dry by crouton standards. And what restaurant does not have wheat bread? I want this place to be better but I have given them more than enough chances to get it right. Wish Sean was back. Sad really.

Good food, attentive service, lovely deck overlooking a sunset over the lake. 4 stars because there was smoking on the deck. Gross!

The chicken nachos easily feeds 3-4, took 1/3 home. Freshly fried chips, shredded cheese, tomato and onion and added grilled chicken. It was 9.95 + 3.95 +.50 for sour cream , which wasn't even necessary. Would have liked more jalepenos, they were minced and only on like 6 chips. I have to say this restaurant is probably better for lunch. The portions for the dinner entrees are small for the prices. It is odd that the only prepared chicken entrees are all a bone-in breast. Even BBQ special. Also the pork rib entree is a half of rack for $17.95... Hubs had the burger, it was decently good. $9.95, there are only like 4 sandwich offerings, listed under Lighter Fare. I think it would be beneficial if a Rueben, Steak or Beef Sandwich, or even a Pork Chop Sandwich was offered. The restaurant was steadily busy and I literally saw at least one person per table order the burger. We were seated inside and my view was of the large and comfortable looking deck. It was very popular. My steak salad at $12.95 was over priced. There was only about 3 oz of steak, but it was prepared as ordered and was flavorful. The menu listed corn relish as part of this composed salad but it just had plain corn. A fair price would have been $9.95. Had we not ordered the nachos, I would have left hungry. Too full to order dessert but I would have tried the seasonal fruit cobbler; but it was Strawberry-Peach which sounds like an odd pairing. I asked and was told desserts are $5-$8. We will be back again for a Saturday lunch. I called the morning we planned to drive out to inquire about brunch. It is only breakfast items, $12.95, but you can order off the menu. The decor is dark with white cloths, cloth napkins and white paper. The servers were wearing shorts. Overall I think the place is more casual than dressier, but maybe on a Saturday night it spiffs up? The bar area looks nice.

I'm very impressed. I wish we could have seen the lake, but we were cozy by the fire place. Nice atmosphere. Nice service. I did the fish fry. One of the i have had. Homemade chip were great. My wife had the rib dinner. Great taste. Sauce was good. The price was spot on. I would recommend this place. We are going back in the summer.

We just had a rehearsal dinner at Burkes on a Friday night with 55 attendee's and they did a fabulous job. We decided onto tapas trays for an app, family style fish (fry & bake), and the beef medallions, and any dessert on the menu, with open bar. Everything was fantastic, food came hot, they helped out by providing a wireless mic which I completely forgot, servers & manager very good. Key lime pie is amazing! The only negative was the table layout, but I as not specific about layout, so I can't blame them, wish tables would have been closer together. This place is a good choice. On Friday nights they have live music so out-of-town, non- wedding party folks can join after the dinner. Great place, I would highly recommend.

Burke's was interesting for dinner. The service was good and some food items were good but they seemed to mess up on the simple stuff. The 14 oz sirlion was good but it only had 5 tiny mushrooms why bother putting them on there. The baked potato was undercooked and hard. Cream on the cheese cake was super sour and not good. My wifes steak was way undercooked and her potato was also undercooked and the cobble was really really sour.

  • Kevin T.

I really want to like Burke's, but the place just doesn't have very good food. The menu here is too extensive, but they seem to have fallen victim to the "Greek restaurant syndrome" of having 214 things on the menu...none of which are very good. The three things that I have tried were all below average in terms of quality. There is definitely a bend toward the "deep fried" sort of "Wisconsin bar food" menu, too, which sort of makes me want to gag. The pasta was plain and flavorless, the salmon was overcooked, and the chicken sandwich was akin to taking an overcooking chicken breast and simply placing it between two pieces of Wonder Bread...then slathering it with some flavored mayo. I've heard that the pizza is decent, but I likely won't return to find out. This isn't a bad place to get a drink, but the inside is dark and a little dank, despite the recent remodel. The outdoor seating is great on a quiet night, but the road in between Burke's and Silver Lake is distracting. There are better places in Oconomowoc...like Chili's...and trust me, I *hate* chains.

Burke's had a rocky start as a new restaurant in Oconomowoc. My first dinner was a Friday night, and as is customary in this great state, my whole table chose the fish fry. In a few words, I vowed to never return due to terrible food and service. Months later, I found myself at Burke's against my better judgement. I should've known better than to order a lobster BLT, but frankly the whole menu was unappealing to me that day. Strike two. This rainy Sunday morning, however, I really enjoyed my brunch! It wasn't a home run, but it was definitely good enough to come back. I enjoyed the small DIY Bloody Mary bar, followed by some crisp breakfast wontons and a classic Eggs Benedict. The good: everything had good flavor, from the Bloody Mary to the house made hollandaise, which topped not only the Benedict, but also the "Silver Lake Spuds", which were typical fried potato chunks. The not-so-good: The wontons had a cheesy egg filling that was a little soft for my taste, almost gooey, but not terrible. Also, our server committed a telltale faux pas in asking how I wanted the eggs on the Benedict cooked. Of course I said "Poached" with a certain sense of foreboding that came to fruition in a very overcooked egg which had certainly been poached, for a long time. Based on my most recent meal only, three stars is generous fair. I will return for sure.

Burke's Lakeside offers something for everyone, which proves to be a wonderful dining experience for a family, business outing, or just to have a cocktail and listen to live music on the weekends. I went on a Friday night with a few friends, sat at the bar, and had a great time. We split some Lobster Wontons, a fish fry, and the Lobster BLT. Everything was very tasty, and the service and atmosphere were fantastic. If I lived closer, I would go much more often! Thanks to everyone at Burke's Lakeside for showing my friends and I a great time, with wi=onderful food and comany. Nice bunch of folks that take good care of there guests! Check it out!!

If I could give less than one star, I would. We were there today Sat. May 16th at about 1:00. There was one other couple in the large dining room. We went outside where there were three other tables with guests. Basically this huge place was empty. There were three of us at our table and we were not served our food for 30 mins. No rolls to munch on - zip. When my husband paid the check, it took the waitress 15 mins to return it. The food was not what you expected from the menu description. There are several other good restaurants in the Oconomowoc area to go to,, We are local to the area and we know where they are, Kurts and Reveres in Delafield, Highway Harry's in Johnson Creek The Lakeside Supper Club and Lounge, sadly, is not one of the good ones. (Burkes used to be). Marian Speerless

Vary disappointed when we went to what we thought was Burkes lakeside supper club only to find out it was sold. The first disappointment was in the prices which had increased quite a bit since we were there two weeks ago. I orderd a steak and baked potato only to find out they didn't have baked potatoes anymore. Only fingerling mixed with asparagus in some type of sauce. Not at all what I wanted. Soup and salad are no longer included with your meal and no complimentary bread or rolls! And they call this a supper club! Hardly! Steak was undercooked and had to wait about 15 min for them to bring it back to me. By then my dinner companion was finished with her meal. Needless to say we won't be going back. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
