Date of visit: August 31, 2013 Location: 4 out of 5 U90 is in that neat-o area that's comprised of the German restaurants (Maders, Beer Hall, Brat House, etc.) as well as event venues such as the Bradley Center, Marcus Center, and US Cellular Arena. The good news is that there's not a shortage of public transportation that goes back and forth on the E/W or N/S streets. Parking, as you can imagine - could be more problematic depending on when you go. We've gone to the area on a weeknight and easily found street parking. On the other hand, HD 110 was still in full swing when we went to U90, and after circling the area west of the river for a bit, we tried in the area by the Marcus Center, and were able to find free street parking immediately. Decor: 3.5 out of 5 I think when I thought "sports gastropub" in my head, I had envisioned hybrid clones of BWW, Chili's, and [insert any other chain] all rolled up and mixed together. I was pleasantly surprised in non-ironic way, then - that U90 caters to none of that nonsense. The seating is predominantly wooden tables with wooden bar stools (unpadded), and the exposed brick walls are adorned with framed sports memorabilia and/or old sports equipment, e.g., old tennis rackets, horse polo mallets, ice skates, etc. The equipment they have is a mix of functional and nostalgic (they have one small beer cooler that looks to be much older than any of the other things I've seen, and it was made out of wood), and sort of retained an artsy feel by sticking with the yelp banner color red paint on the walls, similar to what you'd see at Charlie's. Selection of beer: 4.5 out of 5 Impressive for a sports bar. Think 10 - 12 taps ranging from macro beer like Miller Lite to local works such as Lakefront Riverwest/Fixed Gear to something that may cater more to the EPL clientele like C-berg. After all, this place is called Upper 90. Bottled beers were extensive as well, and in addition to seeing staples such as PBR and Schlitz, the genres extended across local microbreweries (Big Bay, for example) to regional (Three Floyds) to national (Alaska) to international (Xingu). Note that these are just a small representation of what they have to offer. Selection of food: 3 From a purely numerical standpoint, the menu isn't going to overwhelm anyone, but it expansive enough that seemingly 95% of people without food allergies would find someone to their liking. Think alligator bites, wings, pretzels, a few signature salads, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees like chicken, pasta, and fish n chips. I know, I know...this seems facially pedestrian, but... Quality of food: 4 out of 5 This was a bright shining moment. Since it was late, we decided to just split a few apps: alligator bites, the corn brats, wings, and pretzel. I've had alligator in quite a few places, and I've had it prepared in quite a few ways (fried, blackened, scampi, etc) and without doubt, it was quite the surprise that the tastiest and most tender alligator bites I've ever had were, well...here. There was nothing stringy or tough about the preparation here at all, and the hot sauce that comes with the gator is outtasight! While the cornbrats weren't the star of the show - they were tasty and a playful take on foods that we might have liked as children. The wings...ahhh....I can see why they won Wingfest in 2012. Psst....instead of going to BWW, just come HERE because the wings by themselves are infinitesimally superior. In a new place, I tend to ask for the sauce on the side, which aside from a taste bud safety factor (what if I hate the sauce, or what if it's TOO hot [impossible]), it puts the actual prepared wing in the spotlight. Ding ding ding! These wings won - crisp on the outside but not burnt, delicious moist and flavorful on the inside. So good, in fact - that I ate two or three without any sauce at all because they were THAT good. The giant pretzel - eh, that was more of a novelty than anything else. Great to get just to see it in person, but from a purely mechanical standpoint, it required a lot of chewing. Out of all the dipping sauces, the cinnamon sugar one was the tastiest. Customer Service: 4 out of 5 I've run into a lot of new waiters/waitresses lately who are really good at what they do from a nice/professional standpoint, but who just aren't that familiar with the menu because of how new they are. Super sweet and nice gal that served us, and over time I'm sure she'll get much better at knowing what's on the drink and food menu or what's available/pricing. Value: 4 out of 5 For what you get, quite reasonable. Lakefront taps were 5$ (2$ off your first one if you check in via yelp), pitchers of Miller were 12, shots of Makers were 6. One of the pricier items was the gator bites, which was around 12$. For a meal, you could probably get a burger/sandwich and a beer for under 20$, which isn't bad. Overall: 4 out of 5 Will be back sooner rather than later.

I was really looking forward to trying Upper 90 Sports Pub after scanning Yelp for downtown Sports bars in Milwaukee. We (wife, 3 boys) were looking for a place to have burgers and watch the ALCS so I called an hour+ in advance as we're not inclined to go somewhere with a long wait just for burgers and a game. On the other hand we love places with character, and we're used to waiting at times - I can truly say that for the best places we've probably endured 45 minute waits before and left happy campers. When I called in advance the hostess' response was a bit odd to me..in retrospect this should have been a warning flag that perhaps this evening was NOT the evening to try Upper 90 Sports Pub. It almost sounded as if she was trying to discourage us from coming. She said the pub was quite full and busy (a good thing) and that the kitchen was a bit backed up (not so good). So I asked how long the wait was and she said "well, there is no one waiting right now..", so I thought hmm.., should be OK. I gave her my name and said we had a party of 5...and she took my name. I thought perhaps that it would help. It turns out that it was not OK. We arrived maybe 20 minutes later to find that yes - it was quite crowded, and the kitchen (visible to all who walk in) was small, with only a few cooks and it did appear busy. The food looked just 'OK'...burgers a bit small and nothing special. There was a sign instructing us to wait to be seated, so we waited at a small podium in the front. On the other hand, as soon as we arrived at least 2 or 3 small parties left, so it really looked like seats were opening up. In fact I walked to the back and there were 2 fairly large open tables. At that point things got to be a bit weird... 2 or 3 waitresses came right up to the podium because the register was located there, but they completely ignored us. I got one's attention, and asked if we could be seated and she told us we could go back to one of the empty tables - so all's good, right? But as soon as I went to claim the table, a 2nd waitress came up (my wife was still at the podium with the boys) and instructed the 1st waitress that no - we could not be seated as there was "a wait". My wife signaled me back, so I came back to the front. We were the only ones waiting at the front, although someone had walked in right after us and migrated to the bar. We saw them make their way to one of the 2 open tables and a waitress cleared it for them. Over the next few minutes we saw other small parties trickle in and go into the bar without stopping at the podium..so I thought "OK..something's wrong here"...maybe we shouldn't be waiting, despite the very visible sign instructing us to do so. There was one gentlemen with the Upper 90 logo on his shirt whom did not appear to be waiting tables and was coordinating between the kitchen and tables, so I tracked him down and asked where we should sit - and I told him we'd been asked to wait. He was very pleasant (said he was also from Michigan...our home state) but he reiterated that we'd need to wait and that it would be about 10 minutes. He gave no explanation of the fact that there were still open seats and no one else waiting. So we waited another 10-15 minutes (we were about a half-hour in at this stage..). All during the wait, other groups came into the pub and went directly in and seemed to find seats. I'm guessing the total number of folks who came in was 10-12, and during that time a few others left as well. At this stage we decided to leave. I don't know what the heck they were doing there...maybe we walked in and someone made a decision made not to serve us for some reason. But I don't think I've ever had such poor service prior to even being seated..and on a night that the pub was reasonably busy..but not completely packed and no one other than us seemed to be waiting. Obviously, had we waited it out longer we might have eventually been seated and perhaps would have enjoyed it. But I consider such treatment to be an abuse of customers and I'm not inclined to visit places that treat customers so poorly, especially on the first visit. Maybe we didn't know the secret code. At any rate when things like this happen the public should be aware...go there if you want, but go at the risk of being completely ignored. I certainly will not recommend Upper 90 Sports Pub to anyone until they get their act together on the service side of things. And by then I'll be onto better places I'm sure.

We had a great time at Upper 90 ahead of Bulls Bucks game. Good beer, good service, good food. My kids liked it too. Thanks to Mgr for bringing complimentary alligator for them to try. It made their night!

My wife and I ate here when attending an event at US Cellular and after seeing a Deal offer on Yelp. We were impressed with the food, drink selection & staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my Taz burger (Cheddar & Bacon-stuffed burger), and the wife enjoyed the Black and Blue NY Strip sandwich. The place didn't look like much from the outside, but inside there is a lot of space and numerous TVs to watch football, futbol, or baseball. We'll definitely be back when we're around US Cellular or the Bradley Center!

Stopped in for an early dinner while in town with the family around 4:30pm on a Friday. Looks like we were the first ones in after they opened at 4pm. We had scoped it out beforehand via restaurant.com for a deal. The deal did not exclude Fridays like some, but did mention special events with no detail. Upon arriving we learned that U90 considers the basketball game next door a special event, who knew. The game did not begin until 7:30pm though and we were the only ones in the joint, and from Chicago, so they decided to be super cool and honor the deal anyhow. We made a mental note to call the venue beforehand next time so that we are clear. We happened to be there during happy hour deals 4-6pm I believe. Note to restaurant.com users, you are not allowed to combine the restaurant.com deal with any of the happy hour deals :-( Location was good, lots of other venues you could crawl to if you wanted. Manders, Hoff house, etc. Atmosphere was good, a little drafty overall (old building) but thankfully the service was warm. Parking was easy, meter across the street which ends at 6pm, but bring your coins. Our table was an old door which was cool, but at the same time for some odd reason, my ten year old kept repeatedly knocking over his drink. I suspect this was due to the fact that the table door was recessed and had a molding on it that would catch his cup. So fyi to those with kids. We started with the wings because they were 2012 award winners (average). Washed it down with some winter lager on tap which was good. We mostly had burgers which were good. My wife had the grilled cheese. The fries were different, kind of flat and crunchy, have not seen these type of fries anywhere else. Stingy with the ketchup, they do the little silver buckets of ketchup instead of providing you with an actual bottle, so you have to keep asking for more. Overall, decent bar fare and friendly people. My wife bought the deal but I think it was $4 for $20 or $25 and then we ended up with $40 on top of that so $60 total. Which in this inflated day and age is normal, but I always have a problem paying that much for a burger dinner.

I have been wanting to come here for a while. Then of course I got a Groupon for it, which increased the urgency. Great location for a meal before any Bradley Center event...or whatever they call that place now. The bar is tastefully decorated with sports memorabilia. They have a fantastic beer list. It took me a while to decide what to get. We ordered the Caribbean jerk wings based on our server's recommendation. They were great. I ordered a cheeseburger with Nueske's bacon and Mom got filet medallions. The burger was great. Mom's filet was presented on the plate so well I almost forgot we were in a bar and not a fancy restaurant. Prices are high but this is downtown! It's worth every penny though and I will definitely stop here before MU and Bucks games. Service was very attentive. I think everyone who was working stopped by to check on us.

Upper 90 is a great place to hang with friends! Always good stuff on TV, great beers & drinks specials not to mention the food is outstanding! They just signed up for Belly which means a free customer loyalty program & you get fantastic rewards for being loyal......100 points (20 visits) gets you a free quarter barrel party! If you haven't checked this place out you gotta go!

Here to watch a Rosebowl game. Darn Badgers!!! Anyway.... Great beer list with good food. I was with a party of 7. Had a variety; burger, salmon, a few apps, the pretzel was YUMMY!!! Service was A+!!!!! It was SO COLD in the bar!!! All in all.... I'd return.

This place is great! A really friendly, non-douchy sports bar. The service was great, and though there were the typical tons of tv screens, it wasn't overwhelmingly loud. The food is also really good. Don't miss the huge pretzel. I'd definitely go back.

Must be missing something! Off a side street of the main street of bars I thought I would stop in. Noticed the kitchen right when I walked in and thought I would eat. Went for this burger that was stuffed with cheese. Awful over cooked tasteless burger. Place was boring and way overprices. Trying to get big city prices at an ally bar. Should of picked up on the sign of the place being empty during dinner time. Will never go back when in town.

So, I'm a pretty picky girl. Most bars just don't do it for me, especially the ones near the BC. Too dirty, too quiet, too crowded, awful/no food choices, small drink offerings, awful service, obnoxious patrons, I could go on, but the point is, I am almost never happy when I go out. This said, hubby and I were going to the MU game last night and I picked the Upper 90 based off it's good reviews here, and yelp, you did not let me down. We got there maybe an hour and 15 before tip-off, and we go there just in time, as the place filled up. Service was good and we got our drinks right away. The staff seemed to handle the crowd pretty well. (they have Strongbow on tap, yeah!) Hubby order the black and blue steak sandwhich, which was delicious, (the bread was really good, and I appreciate that) although we would have liked a little more blue cheese on it. I had the hummus veggie pita, which was also good, although I would have liked a little more flavor/seasoning. Maybe a flavored hummus or a little salt and pepper on top? Anyways, the pita was very tasty and every ingredient was very fresh. Fries were also some of the best I've had maybe ever. There were several other menu items I want to check out. Next time we are at an event at the BC, we will definitely stop in, although we will make sure to get there plenty early.

Went here on a Friday night while in town for the evening. Sat at a table and had drinks and food. The service was good and our drinks were replenished in a timely manner at all times. Had the cheese curds for an appetizer, they were good but the portion was a bit small. I had the alligator po boy and cream of chicken soup as the side. The sandwich was very good and fresh tasting, the soup was also very good and not your run-of -the mill cream of chicken soup, it seemed as if they made it there and it was quite good. My boyfriend had the buffalo wings, and while he said they were good, he found them to be a little too hot, although that may be his personal preference and not a problem with the wings. They had decent jukebox music playing and then a 2 man live band came in to play. Don't remember the bands name (it was 2 brothers), but they were very good and lent good atmosphere to the place... live music but not over the top and still a bit low key. I was disappointed when my boyfriend wanted to leave, but if I'm ever back in town, I'll be back.

An-all around great place, but the service really makes it stand out. The staff at Upper 90 goes above and beyond to make their customers feel welcome and ensure a great experience. The food is quality (try the giant pretzel), and the beer selection is fantastic. Great place to catch a game or just have a drink.

Other than Monster Jam, I officially have a reason to get near the Bradley Center. I have frequented Upper 90 5+ times since it has opened and have been very pleased with both the food and service. I have liked the Alligator bites and Milwaukee's Biggest Pretzel (Seriously you need to see this thing) for appetizers as well as The Taz Burger & Fish and Chips for entrees. Very solid bar food that has gotten better each visit. As for drinks, I have logged my share of Lakefront Taps which always hit the spot. If your not into beer and looking for some excitement, I suggest trying the panty dropper. As for my 4/5 star rating, I hate parking in this area and need to plan my visits around Bradley Center / US Cellular Events.

Great burger and service. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Would be a nice place for lunch if they were open more. They are open for the ncaa games which is great.

I really love this bar! Every time I have come here, I have had the BEST service. Wonderfully knowledge staff who can direct you to the many beer choices they have. Which is good, they have too many to try and navigate on your own. I have actually been introduced to at least 5 beers here that I had never heard of, but now buy for myself at home! Always a pleasant atmosphere, and the music! I don't know if I just get lucky every time I go, but the music is fantastic! Not your average Water Street drunk karaoke. I usually come here before and/or after events at the Bradley Center or US Cellular. I have only eaten here once for brunch, and I was impressed. I have definitely made a mental note to eat here again. I will most surely return to Upper 90!

We were out of town & tried this spot. Waitress was nice & service was good. Food was ok, nothing too special, but pretty good. Beer on tap had some good variety. Beware of your bill if using a charge card. We thought we were over charged & they adjusted the tip, but turns out they over-bill your card as pending, then make charges accordingly close out later.

Never heard of "Bottleneck" fries. But they were incredibly good. Burger was good as well. Walleye was overcooked. Cajun alligator PoBoy was a hit. Definitely a place to check out.

Yelp brought us here - the food made us stay. Great bar food, with some interesting twists. Our group of 5 enjoyed a variety of beer and appetizers coupled with the brat sandwich. The goat cheese bruchetta was a good selection, and at happy hour prices was only $5. While the walk up to the place left us questioning if they were open (or we should just find something else local to our hotel), the interior gave us a friendly and relaxing spot to chat / watch sports highlights / relax.

I've been to Upper 90 a few time for beers before and after a game at the Bradley Center and have always found a tasty selection. I've been wanting to try the food since I found out the the Chef is Michael Conley, former Head Chef at Gil's Cafe. I tried their burger last night and was surprised by what was probably the best burger I've had! It was stuffed with cheese and bacon..absolutely delicious! Upon leaving we accidentally left a $100+ ticket on our table. As we were walking towards the Bradley Center, we saw our waitress sprinting towards the door. Seeing this, we thought something must be up and we all checked for our tickets. Turns out one of us left a ticket on the table. She went WAY above and beyond to make sure we weren't turned away at the door. Plus, she was an excellent and personable waitress. I'd suggest going to Upper 90 when you get the chance. Service, selection, food and vibe are all great!

My husband and I had a groupon and decided to use it last night. We had an alligator appetizer, the Mediterranean hamburger and the steak sandwich washed down with a Spotted Cow. The food was tasty and hot. The beer was cold and good. But the best part of our experience was the pleasant server/bartender Leah. She was easy, friendly and attentive. I told her if I wasn't impressed with the food, which was very good, I would come back just to have her take care of us.

I would come here just for the pork shanks. I can't even stress how good the pork shanks are. The pork shanks with the dry rub is possibly the best food in Milwaukee. Bartender/ server Jon, was super attentive and friendly. He hooked it up and was knowledgable of the beer and food. I felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Considering this place was pretty busy, they were still on top of everything. At first glance, you would think the food here is average. I can't believe how delicious the pork shanks with the dry rub were. The chef Darvell was a pro. This dude gets it. I also ordered the buffalo wings and expected some deep fried crap. They were grilled to perfection and had the perfect amount of buffalo sauce. I should have ordered more food. I can't stress how good these pork shanks were, if you don't come here you are missing out. Looks like the average bar, but the staff and food are spectacular. After witnessing the Bulls blow it, I was looking for a bar to get some drinks and food. I went to Major Goolsby's and wanted to kill myself. Was so disappointed with that place, I then made the best decision of the day, I left that shit hole and came to Upper 90 and was impressed. This place is an under the radar diamond in the ruff. I would eat the pork shanks every day if I lived in Milwaukee. I thought they were so good I had to write a review about it. Pork shanks.

Decided to check things out at Upper 90 Sports Pub after hearing glowing reviews about it on Yelp and from friends. My wife and I went on a Friday. I was surprised that we were the only patrons in on a Friday during happy hour but they started trickling in. Never did get crowded or really busy. We started off by ordering sodas that were flat but the manager or bartender did a quick fix on the lines and go us sodas with some carbonation in in it. We started off with the cheese curds. Just from what I heard and the price I expected freshly fried cheese curds and not ones frozen out of the bag. They did give you marinara and ranch for the curds. For entrees, my wife had the "Taz" burger and I, of course, had the fish fry. The Taz burger is their version of a stuffed burger with bacon and cheddar cheese. We both expected more of a Juicy Lucy type but the burger had little to no cheese in it and the bacon was not to be found. Our St. Bernard was thankful that my wife only ate half the burger so he could have the rest. The fish fry was just okay. Nothing special about it, rather bland and unexciting. Again for the price tag of $10.99, I expected so much more. It was nicely battered but no taste at all. The sriracha tarter sauces that was suppose to accompany it was just plain tarter sauce. I might have a better fish fry at Long John Silver's. The decor, the service, and beer selection was great but I probably won't come back to eat and be lucky to come back drink. A $3 tall boy special during happy hour? Come on those are regular prices at any other bar in Milwaukee.

Nope. More sober and over charged more than previously thought. And she had the audacity to complain about tip? Screw this place and the blonde waitress who served us. NEVER coming back.

Descriptive phrase: old sports bar. Upper 90 Sports Pub gave a bad first impression. I've been wanting to come check out this classic spot for a long time and finally got the chance for a Thursday night Packer game. I had no idea if it'd be busy or not, so I called the night before to make a reservation. When we came in for the game it was maybe half full, and they had no record of my reservation which meant we got stuck at a tiny, uncomfortable high-top table that was free. Strike one. The beer selection was respectable, and $5/pint was more than reasonable for the unique Octoberfest I had (though a bit much for a run-of-the-mill Spotted Cow). Their Taz Burger ($11) looked good, and the Chili ($5 cup) I had was okay. I was excited to try their Gator Bites ($11) app as there aren't many places it can be had. Was not worth it: there was a large amount of the bites, but they were really just fried pieces of freezer-burned gator paired poorly with two different sauces. But it's a pub, not a restaurant...food can slide. We arrived maybe 30 minutes before the game started. The whole bar was there to watch the Packers save for one dude and who appeared to be a manager sitting at the bar watching another city's baseball game (that wasn't even close). For some reason they didn't turn on the Packers on any TVs until literally as kickoff was happening, and the sound took another few minutes. It was like no one there had ever used the A/V system before, and their manager cared more about his own friend than the other customers. Strike two. Cockroach crawling on the wall next to our table. Thankfully the table next to us pointed it out before it slyly scampered onto our food. Strike three. Upper 90 could've been having an off night, and the beer selection and overall atmosphere were definite draws. But there are other places nearby that won't suffer you through the problems I encountered here, so I doubt I'll be back.

Excellent, friendly, craft beer- loving establishment. Also connected to two other restaurants in town. Dan, the general manager, is outstanding in his beer knowledge and customer service. Food is excellent and can be made to order. I appreciated that they extended their hours to accommodate my company's annual conference and their great yelp offers! Way to go and thank you.

Once in a while a little known gem shines so brightly that you are drawn in, have a great experience and you can't wait to tell everyone about it. This is my experience with Upper 90 sports pub. I like the feel of Upper 90. Its cute and colorful with lots of sports memorabilia lining the walls and high, pressed-tin tiled ceilings above a massive antique bar. And don't overlook the abundance of TVs of all sizes lining the walls. I came to Upper 90 for the first time about six months ago. I had heard the bar was a gathering place for Marquette fans, especially during the away games. That day I had brunch food and a great bloody mary. I met Dan the manager and asked whether the Marquette alumni association I serve on could have a game watching party there. Dan was more than willing to accommodate us. In working with the board we decided to have a gathering there in conjunction with another Marquette alumni group. Our events chair worked out the details and put on a super event. Upper 90 was friendly and accommodating, putting on food and drink specials. We enjoyed ourselves! The food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. We enjoyed holding our event there and were well taken care of. Thank you Dan and crew for making our event outstanding! It was fun!

Built as a Schlitz Brewery Saloon, the pub sits steps off Old World Third Street. We were in town visiting for the Brewers/Cubs game and we left our hotel and came across this place. Our plan was to hit a ton of bars that day and we ended up spending most of our day here, going back after the game AND going back in the morning for breakfast!! AH-MAZING food.....while we didn't have the TAZ burger, we will next time. We had the donut holes, cheese curds and breakfast. Yummy!! Brian was our bartender and he really made our visits fun. The people around us were so friendly and we will definitely be back next time we are in town.

5 stars for being super accommodating, great service, and providing yummy food! We came here before an Admirals game and there were 12 people in our party. The waitress happily pulled together 3 tables for us even though we didn't have a reservation and it was the day of a Brewers game. She proceeded to take our drink order and brought them all back very quickly. They have a great beer/cider selection! We started off with the cheese curds and lollipop cornbrats. Both were amazing! The curds were fried to perfection and ooey gooey in the middle. The cornbrats were also something I had never had before and were very tasty! I then ordered the Taz burger with their vegetable of the day which happened to be broccoli. The burger was pretty good, I'm not the biggest fan of stuffed burgers but this one was good. Definitely full of cheese and bacon! The meat could've been seasoned a bit more but that was my only complaint. The broccoli was super yummy though, it was mixed in with cauliflower and seasoned to perfection. I also snuck a bite of one of their giant pretzels which someone else at my table ordered. AHHHHHMAZING! Definitely get it with the cinnamon butter!

After our first sports bar lunch idea went bust, we settled for the highest rated sports bar in the Milwaukee area. I brushed up on the history of the bar on the front of the menu... Originally built in 1889 as a Schlitz Brewery Saloon, this place is full of character. Original (and functional!) wooden beer cooler, reclaimed sports door-tables, stained glass on the back bar, and vintage sports equipment decor all contribute to the theme. Copious televisions make watching your event easy, and the food / local beer options were winning. The area was a little slow for a Saturday afternoon, but we were just passing through and there was nearby street peaking available as a result. So all was well. We started with the "Jumbo" Chicken Wings (if you say so). And I wish we'd gotten the Goat Cheese Bruschetta instead because these were simply regular, albeit tasty... Next time... Goat cheese. Always goat cheese. I settled on the Neuskes grilled cheese for my entree. Chili (sub $2) on the side was good, with sour cream, crackers and cheese included in the hearty bean and meat-heavy cup. The sandie itself was very unassuming. Just looking at it, I set myself up for disappointment. But after biting into that joy of sharp cheddar and gouda, bacon and sundried tomato rosemary aioli... That disguised flavor explosion encased in sourdough bread really won me over. If - or when - I find myself in Milwaukee again I'd probably go out of my way to get here.

Solid food, solid booze, solid sports, solid solid all around! Upper 90's a great option if you're near Turner Hall, the Bradley Center, the US Cell, the Historical Society... basically, if you're downtown for a thing and you'd like to eat a food or drink a drink, Upper 90's a good, safe, sound bet. To expound: -They have beer, and not just your typical sports bar domestic selection. They've got a little beer cabinet/cellar with great craft and import options! -They have SPROTS on the TEEVEEs! Packers, Brewers, Bucks when they're on, always, and they also show all Marquette men's away basketball games, too. -They have food, and not just your typical cheese curds and burgers, either: alligator bites and MKE's largest pretzel accompany entreés like tenderloin or pasta dishes. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, so buyer beware. (You probably already knew that though... ) Long story short: Upper 90's a solid sports bar with above average food. I'm a fan, and if I'm in the area, it's definitely high-up on the list of go-tos. Way to go, U90!

Bar type atmosphere. Quite comfortable. Very generous selection of bottled beers plus select craft beers on tap. Bartender was very nice, polite, friendly. I had the goat cheese bruschetta and cheese curds for my appetizers. Both were very delicious. For dinner, The Taz. Mind-boggling good. Burger was cooked to order. Stuffed inside the burger was bacon and sharp cheddar cheese. A complete and total lock. Loved it. Amazing that this joint only opened last year. Located near Bradley Center, US Airways Arena and Milwaukee Theater. Highly recommended.

This place is expensive for a "pub" but the food is above par for a pub too. i shared appetizer of Caribbean jerk chicken wings. Very good. Not too spicy. I had the tenderloin medallions which had a beautiful presentation. Steak topped with wine sauce and some mushrooms. On side of plate was asparagus, perfectly done so not mushy and not too tough. Service was excellent. Decor was fun; the tables are recycled doors.

We went to Upper 90 to catch the Badgers basketball game and get a few drinks after dinner. The bar itself is pretty cool, some might call it outdated but I liked the homey feel. Their beer selection on tap was just okay, but they have plenty of bottles. There were lots of open seats when we arrived and we got to sit right in front of a TV. The bartender was super nice and knowledgable, and she even gave us a couple tiny samples of beers we'd never heard of before. We didn't get food since we'd just eaten, but the menu sounded pretty darn good! I know I'll be back to try their grilled cheese, so I'll update my review then.

After my first time stopping it, it good overall, but there were some faults which can't be overlooked. This first beer I had was Riverwest Stein from a tap, it wasn't great. I'm not sure if the beer line wasn't clean, or the carbonation level wasn't right or what, but it wasn't as good as it should have been. After that, they were out of the first few bottles I tried ordering. Don't get my hopes up by listing Three Floyds, then not having any of them. I did try some food, and it was pretty decent. I had a cheeseburger with broccoli/cauliflower on the side. The burger was good, and the veggies were better than expected, well seasoned with some rosemary. They need to work on their beer, but I'll be stopping back to try more food.

Upper 90 is my new pre-bar for any event downtown. GREAT beer and music selection, food is very good compared to other similar places downtown, and close to the Bradley Center and the Cell. Recommendations: gator bites, the brazilian beer (unsure of the name), hummus, and the fish fry was just ok, if not a bit better than ok. Though it gets very busy, I always look forward to going to Upper 90.

We came here to finally use an expired Groupon after a Bucks game. It was cold (I'm talking Polar Vortex cold) and Upper 90 was the closest option, so, fair enough. Our experience wasn't bad -- but it wasn't outstanding. Service was good, for what it's worth, though we were the only people in the place. We split a burger and the mac 'n cheese. The burger was good, the mac was lackluster; pretty run-of-the-mill, no-frills for restaurant mac 'n cheese. Definitely not worth $11. I'd stick to the sandwiches and avoid the pricey entrees. "Gastropub" is a generous way to describe Upper 90. It's just standard issue bar fare at a slightly higher price than it's worth. Not a bad place to end up if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it, unless they're offering some serious specials.

AWFUL!!! Avoid it at all cost!!! Do not go there!!! Went there for St Paddy's day pub crawl and it was just awful!!!! The service was awful, we were packed like sardines in there, it was super loud, and on top of that they ran out of green beer...BIG no no!!!! Also, they charged us $6 for the tinniest shot I've ever seen!! Just ridiculous!!!! The food looked good, but unfortunately I do NOT plan on going back anytime soon!!!

I originally stumbled into Upper 90 because they used to have Quizmaster Trivia, which I am a fan of, but they didn't have the following that other venues have (Brat House, Three Lions, Lowlands Group) and now I play trivia at other locations. What Upper 90 does have is mostly amazing staff and a PHENOMENAL grilled cheese. Whatever they do to it is amazing. Two thick slices of bread, cheese, some special sauce/mayo, and bacon (I don't eat bacon, but my significant other says it's tasty!). The plate comes with fries and it's pretty reasonably priced, I've never had a crowd issue here and there are TVs all over for you to watch your favorite game. It's right down on State just off of Old World 3rd, so if you're down there or you're on your way to a game at the Bradley/BMO/Whatever Center, pop in for a bite. P.S. If you need parking, there is parking on the street OR if there's nothing going on at the Bradley/BMO/Whatever center, you can probably park in the little lot next to Turner Hall without having to pay. Usually I drive in the lot by the booth. If there's no light on and no atttendent, I park. If there is, I scope for street parking.

Let it be known.....I went on dollar burger night. I'll likely go back at some point to try their normal burgers, but I wanted to use dollar burger night as a pre-cursor to judge how quickly I should do so. I read (via a Yelp Talk thread) that Upper 90 offers a dollar burger night, and as the ultimate burger connoisseur I figured it'd be a cheap and easy dinner idea for a chilly Thursday night. I stopped in about 20 after 4 and the bartender had to check and see if they had the dollar burgers available. (How do you not know? You have this special every Thursday starting at 4....I shouldn't have showed up as a surprise) He came back a couple minutes later and said that they had them, and we were off and running. Basically like most dollar burger places, it's a dollar for the burger, and then 50 cents for any toppings you want. It's not the worst thing in the world, but if you like some flavor to your burger, it's definitely going to run you a couple bucks. I had cheese, onions and pickles and my burger was $3. Not the worst deal in the world....but still. Burgers showed up and to be honest, I wasn't impressed at all. I think there should be a good balance between burger and bun, and the burger here was completely overwhelmed by the bun. I picked it up, and a river appeared on my plate. The grease was just pouring off the thing. At this point, I was thankful the bun was so big....because it soaked up some of the grease. So much for trying to live healthier. Burger quality was pretty poor, fries were pretty bland, and service left nothing to write home about. I'll be back sometime to try the burger off the regular menu, but I won't hurry.

I bought a Groupon for this place for a friend and myself to pregame before a concert because I've heard good reviews and it was somewhat convenient to where we were headed. I must say I was disappointed when I walked in the door. I was expecting a real sports pub layout (like Champps, TGIF, BW3, or something along that nature) but this was basically just one very long bar with tables squished against the other wall. From looking at the menu I was also under the impression that this was more of a restaurant feel but when I noticed the "kitchen" aka grill area is basically attached to the bar I decided not to induldge in the food aspect. They had a pretty weak on tap selection, but their bottle selection was awesome. Our server - although he thought he was a member of mumford and sons - was polite and even offered us a happy hour price a few minutes after the clock. It was dollar burger Thursday nights, with the same menu as Bar Louie basically you start with meat / bun and circle the toppings you want for an additional cost. When the burger came out it sure looked delicious and better than a dollar's worth but my friend said it was simply "Ok". The aligator bites and calamari seem intriguing but I wasn't in the mood for fried food. Besides salad, the only food they really have is greasy bar food. Because of the layout / atmosphere I probably won't come here again, let alone how difficult it is to park in that location.

Waitress was very nice, atmosphere was very comfortable, food was delicious (pretzel and cheese curds), prices were good (especially w/ the deals through Yelp). I definitely recommend it.

I must admit I have a bad habit... I drink wine and browse groupons. One nice summer night on my back patio I bought this groupon because I just had to see "Milwaukee's Biggest Pretzel". Why I had to see this I don't know. Fast forward to a cool fall day when I clean and come across said groupon that will expire in 3 days. So husband reluctantly heads out down to Old World 3rd and it's limited parking (I said just park already and I'll pay the $5 at the lot next to Maders... better than getting carsick from him circling the block again for that dream spot!!). Again, as he's wondering why I wanted to go here we step inside this sports bar with chef cooking away at the front by the door. But the young girls inside were super friendly and seated us at our choice of tables. It was a weeknight and it was pretty busy, lots of tvs with many sports on. Waitress was nice answering our million questions about the place as was the manager that kept checking up on us and also answering more questions! Food is pub style basics with an interesting twist. That Milwaukee's Biggest Pretzel is definately big. We couldn't even eat a 1/4 of it. It's more like pretzel bread, nice and soft and buttery. Served with 3 sauces - jalapeno beer cheese (husband loved not for me, it's very smoky), Honey Mustard (good, sharp, vinagrette like) and a cinnamon butter (nice but almost dessert-y). Husband had a corn dog brat thing he really liked. For meals, I went with the veggie pita with side of veggie (asparagus). Pita was suprisingly good for a sports bar kinda place! It had nice field greens with Greek touch. Husband went with the grilled cheese and side of chili. He liked the grilled cheese w/the bacon but couldn't finish it. The chili was so-so, too much beans not enough meat. He took home to eat but hasn't figured out what to do with it yet... The only dessert they have is a cinnamon pretzel thing. Full bar, selection of 90 beers, many local or small craft brews. Overall, we were pleasantly suprised and looking forward to returning. Have to try their version of cheese curds and husband may have been talking into trying the alligator (he loves it in FL but not convinced it can be good in WI). It's probally one of the better casual dining options in this area.

Same sh!t different day. This is just like any other sports bar downtown close to the Bee Em Oh Harris Bradley Center. I don't see how this is anything special. sure, they have a huge pretzel. I guess theirs is bigger than anyone else. and the gator bites. you can deep fry anything and get a kick out of it. (it reminds me of the Gator on a Schtick that used to be served at summerfest...does anyone remember that? man, they were soo good. Mmmmmm....summerfest.....) anyway, if i'm going to a game or something downtown, there are ample places to pick from. I'm not going out of my way any other night to go here.

Fantastic bar with great food. All of their food items and cocktails include fresh ingredients. The staff is knowledgeable and very kind, the service is good. They always have excellent beer selections and have some very good specials during the week. One of my favorite places to stop downtown.

I attended a tweet up last Tuesday to sample menu items at Upper 90 Gastro Sports Pub. We were able to try several items from the menu and I'm happy to share the results with you. We started with Alligator Bites, chunks of Louisiana Alligator tenderloin, Cajun battered and deep fried served with Creole Aioli and Buffalo dipping sauces. I haven't had alligator prepped this way before. I loved the batter and texture of these bites. Next up came the Bruschetta topped with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese. This was much better than you would expect from "sports bar bruschetta." The first entree that arrived was the Atlantic Salmon grilled on a cedar plank and topped with a Maple Walnut Butter, served over wild rice pilaf with a side of asparagus. I normally don't order salmon because I consider it boring, but when you grill it on a cedar plank and top it with a maple walnut butter, that adds some excitement to the dish. This was a great dish! The Stuffed Chicken Breast is stuffed with sundried tomato, asparagus and an herb goat cheese, also served with wild rice pilaf and a side of asparagus. Cutting in to the chicken breast, I was anxious to try the flavor combination. Finally, we sampled the Taz Burger. The half-pound Angus beef patty is stuffed with sharp cheddar and Nueskes bacon and served with lightly beer-battered fries. When I bit into the burger, the very first thing I tasted was the smoky Nueskes bacon. Can you think of a better way to start a burger? I can't. You notice a small group of the same ingredients appearing in various places throughout the menu. It's a small space with a small kitchen (visible from the bar) and a small area for food storage, so the idea is to bring in several deliveries per week and use what you receive to fullest extent to try and eliminate waste. I can dig it. Sports bars are not known for great food because so many just have average food. There are a few sports bars with great food, so try not to let the "sports bar" concept affect your taste buds. To be perfectly honest, I doubt Upper 90 Gastro Sports Pub would come to mind for a place to watch the "big game," but I guaranty you that when I'm thinking of a place to get a great meal, Upper 90 Gastro Sports Pub will be on the list. By the way, the beer selection is also respectable and they also open at 10:00 AM for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. I highly recommend a visit for the food. This chef has skills!

Located off Old World Third Street, Upper 90 is an original Milwaukee Pub built in 1889 and originally a Schlitz Brewery Saloon. It's known by fellow Milwaukee-ans as one of the highest rated sports bar's in the area. From the original wooden beer coolers, reclaimed sports door-tables, stained glass on the back bar, and vintage sports equipment decor, all of this adds to the atmosphere and original theme of Upper 90. I love their pretzels and also it's a great place to go after Bradley Center events..but make sure you can get a good spot because it does get busy. They also have a great selection of beer and other drinks. Love this place for sports games!

FADE IN SCENE I: George and Jerry move about the apartment discussing the day's events. The intercom bell rings. It's Elaine. Moments later she enters the room. JERRY: 'laney! ELAINE: Hi Jerry! GEORGE: Elaine. ELAINE: George. GEORGE: Gosh, I'm starving over here. Jerry, do you have any cheese? 'cause I could really go for a grilled cheese. JERRY: No. I meant to go shopping, but I had to wait for the cable guy. My cupboards are bare. I barely have a cup to spare. ELAINE: Hey! Did you guys here about that place downtown that is known for their great grilled cheese sandwiches? Upper 90. Apparently they use gouda. Gouda makes it gooda, I guess! *** laughs at own joke *** GEORGE: Yeah. Is it that place that Mike Collins is always talking about? Something about the Nueske's bacon making the sandwich so tasty. JERRY: Better than the coffee shop's grilled cheese? Huh. Shall we check it out after the movie? ELAINE: Okay. Mike also said that they've got $2 off Lakefront Brewing beers with a Yelp check in. *** A loud bang at the door. Kramer attempts to open a locked front door. Jerry opens the door. Kramer bursts in. *** KRAMER: Two dollars off Lakefront Brewery tappers?! Yeoow! Now you 're talking my language! JERRY: Yeah. We're headed there after the movie. You want to join us? KRAMER: Giddy up! I'm in, brother! JERRY: Just a second, I'll grab my coat. KRAMER: And I'll go get a cab. Traffic's horrible at t this time of day, I know a short-cut. *** Jerry looks at George and rolls his eyes. George hmphs. They walk out the door. *** FADE OUT

I have been here a handful of times before events at the Bradley center and have always been very happy with my visit. The two best parts about this place is it has a LOT of different beer, and the food is amazing. Lots of huge TV's so there is never a bad spot to sit if you want to watch the game is just the icing on the cake.

Solid place. Food was interesting and good. Lakefront Beer was good. Basketball in March can't be bad. I enjoyed the 80's music until noticing that it was Bono vs. Sting with a handful of others thrown in for good measure. I started with Cheese Curds and they didn't disappoint. I had the Lakefront Riverwest Stein Beer. I avoided the dollar burgers based on comments from others & went with the Grilled Cheese - which was a tasty mix of cheese, Neuski bacon & rosemary-tomato aioli cooked perfectly. My server, Erika, only let my beer glass sit empty for mere moments. She was helpful navigating the somewhat convoluted menu during happy hour - when Yelp deals and happy hour prices offered competing discounts. The manager, Dan, stopped by to check in. Turns out he's responsible for the music. It's a Pandora channel based on the Police, so I can't complain too much. Overall, I'd come back. This place is a comfortable, neighborhood pub and seems to catch a lot of folks heading to or coming out of the Bradley Center & US Cellular Arena - especially Marquette fans!

I like this place! I'm never hanging out downtown by the Bradley Center, but this place was really friendly and food was pretty good, too. The fish fry was unique and tasty and the cheese curds were above average, but not great. Service was also really good and the people there were very nice. Tons of TV's - a great place to watch the Brewers game. There are a lot of things I want to try on the menu. This is my type of sports bar.

Review for drinks/bar staff only; no food :( When attending an event at the Bradley Center (or whatever they're calling it these days), I am not a fan of the many establishments on Old World 3rd Street for pre- or post-game fun. I recently stepped into Upper 90 before a Bucks game -- and though it is not right on 3rd Street, it's close enough to those other places that I've simply bypassed it until now. Nice place, if a bit cramped -- though it is bigger than it looks from the outside. Great beer selection (MKE brewing, Fat Tire among some of the notables) and fantastic bartenders made our brief visit a good one. A bit much for a fancy beer ($5) but it beats paying $8 at the BC. Regardless, after viewing the menu, I will be back to try Milwaukee's biggest pretzel!

Not your average pub when it comes to the dining experience. So, I've been to pubs before and I knew what to expect: drinks and not overly complicated food, i.e. sandwiches, finger food, appetizers, burgers, pizzas, etc. What I did not expect was a first class dining experience at a pub! For appetizers, we ordered: - Cheese Curds ($7.95) - beer battered white cheddar cheese curds served with homemade ranch and marinara sauces. The dish is exactly that - fried battered cheese curds. If you love cheese, you'll enjoy these cheese bites with your beer. If this is your first time in this pub, I would skip cheese curds and spend my calories and money on something more interesting on the menu. This pub seems to live up to its menu, so no need to be safe and conservative! - Goat Cheese Bruschetta ($9.45) - toasted Italian bread topped with fresh herb goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, shredded parmesan and balsamic olive oil. This appetizer was a hit with me. I love anything goat cheese, and paired with the ingredients above, the bruschetta simply melts in your mouth leaving a wonderful aftertaste that is nicely washed down with a glass of wine. For our main course, we ordered: - The Taz ($9.95) - half pound Angus beef burger stuffed with sharp cheddar cheese and Neuskes bacon served with fries. One word - succulent! If you love burgers, you will not be able to bite into this one! - Wild Mushroom Ravioli ($15.95) - Portabella, Crimini and mozzarella cheese stuffed ravioli topped with roma tomatoes, wilted spinach and a fresh herb and roasted garlic brown butter. I hardly ever order complex dishes in pubs. Actually, to be exact, I never do! The reason for that is that their final products hardly ever live up to my expectations of their menu descriptions. However, I was encouraged by some good revues to break the mold and order an actual meal at the Upper 90 Sports Pub, and I was glad I did. The dish looked, smelled, and tasted delicious! The chef Michael Conley can be proud of the food he serves his customers! My overall rating of the Pub is 4.5 stars. I took off 0.5 stars for the following reason, which some of you may deem silly: Wearing high heels and sitting at a high table on a high chair without a foot rest is quite uncomfortable. While I very much enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the Pub, I was ready to leave our table when we were done because I grew tired of being uncomfortable.

Loved it here. I'm from out of town and spent the day at Lakefront. They gave a coupon for a free pint that day before 9pm at a limited list of bars, and Upper 90 was the closest to my hotel, so that's where I ended up. I did the $6 for $10 yelp deal, which was great. I ended up staying for most of the night. Got some yummy grilled cheese and several beers. The bartender Marcus was really nice and so were the patrons of the bar--a great place to go alone and make friends! We played a fair bit of bar dice (not legal in the other states where I've lived) and had a fun night!
