I've been roaming Milwaukee county looking for the best fish fry and after several recommendations from friends, I had high hopes for Tracks. Unfortunately, these were left unmet. The fish came as a medium sized basket of fries (or tots if you prefer), slaw, 3 pieces of perch, cod, shrimp or combination (i had the cod) and tartar sauce. My first comment must address the wait time. It took nearly an hour and a half to receive the order. This would be expected if it had been busy, but there were only about 15 other patrons inside. Most of which were at the bar only drinking. I found the fish to be quite tough in areas, almost to the point that they couldnt be chewed. The fries were not bad, but nothing special either. The cole slaw, when I received it, was warm and lacked much flavor. However, I must say that for the price of $9 that the amount of food you receive certainly does fill you up. Tracks may be an excellent place to meet friends and play volleyball, but I would pass on their fish fry.

I love Tracks! Not as much as I used to, but I love it nonetheless. I used to drink here often with my old best friend. Fond memories of bloody marys and arcade games and pornography in the bathrooms. Do they still have porn gracing the bathroom walls? Somehow, I imagine they must. Due to disconcertingly clear memories of gym class humiliation and the huge quantities of marijuana resin clogging my lungs I try to avoid exercise in any form, but the volleyball courts look fun and on most warm nights can be found full of people with less debilitating mental and physical hang-ups. The bartenders are so friendly and familiar, matching the atmosphere which is definitely come-as-you-are-no-dress-up-required. Black-Jack Burger = Amazing. The girl, who is a misguided vegetarian, as I've mentioned before, loves the fried mushrooms.

This a great bar, nothing fancy but it's clean with a decent tap selection and great happy hour deal. The decor is great and super MKE-centric. The food is decent (with great and super cheap tots) and reasonably priced for bar food. All of the bartenders and servers are friendly and helpful. Plus, parking is convenient.

I went to Tracks for the 129th time on Friday to catch a bit of the handegg game with some pals. Conversation was lively and included such topics as: mormons seeing drugs for the first time, justifiable homicide, white supremacists, and old-timey wooden dildo factories. Tracks is totally reliable and not special. I like it just fine for that reason. What you see is what you get. Neighborhood-y sportsish bar where people play volleyball, drink beer, and eat burgers. There's at least one place like this in every town in Wisconsin. The interior is cramped and just a hair away from needing a remodel to avoid the bar being classifiable as a dive. Drinks aren't as cheap as you'd expect. Varied (but mostly white) crowd. I did once see a fight here in which a dude bit another dude's ear, Mike Tyson style. Happened out on the patio. The patio's nice in good weather, but they have a dumb gas fireplace in a bad spot. Takes up way too much room. Some people bring their kids to Tracks. Knock it off. In the john, there's always some pictures of tits on the wall. They seem to change bi-weekly. There's a chrome housing around the plumbing on top of the urinal. It's warped in a way (like a fun house mirror) that will make your dick look bigger if viewed from the correct angle. Fun! Tyson K. is dead wrong. Horny Goat is a douche magnet with horrible beer.

Its Sooo like cheers. There's even a cheers sign high up on one of the side walls. It is a lil bit up north sports bar in river west but it gets a pleasant mix of college kids, neighborhood regulars of all ages, and the occasional Hipster. Word is the serve a mean fish fry and burger but I only get hungry there after 11 and that's when the kitchen closes. Other pluses: they hav a parking lot, they play a nice mix of 90s rock and current stuff, everyone is pretty friendly and unpretentious. This is definately becoming my 'end up'

Solid, dependable, predictable Milwaukee Bar. All meant in a good way. The bar room is smaller, but their is a big back room with more tables and pool and darts. The food is classic milwaukee burgers, chicken sandwich, fried apps. All done well. Choice of fries or tots too. Beer selection is good and prices fair. Check the mini pitcher if you are having more than one beer as it is a better deal for like 2.5 beers. I like that they have some of the older lakefronts on tap like Cream City and East Side Dark. To the guy complaining about carry out fish fry, cut them a break... you take hot food and put in in a Styrofoam container and your results will be pretty bad no matter who made the food. However, I will say that I have always found their fish fry to be just OK. Not shown on the menu but available is a veggie burger... nothing fancy, but fixed up right and good tasting. Always found the staff to be nice but service in the back can get slow if the place is crowded.

The Wednesday and Friday Fish Fry is pretty darn good, and pretty cheap. Maybe it's just that I'm used to Chicago prices, but 2 pieces of fried perch, two pieces of fried cod, and three fried shrimp, along with fries and cole slaw seems like a pretty good deal to me for less than $10. I wasn't` a huge fan of the perch, but there are large pieces of cod and three jumbo shrimp. You can order the meal without the perch which I think is what I'll do next time, or your can order the meal with only perch if you like the perch. The drink prices here were pretty low too. If you and a friend want a meal and want to get completely hammered for less than $40, this may be a good place to try. They have volleyball courts too, so if you wanna work off some of those beer and/or fried fish calories you can go hit some balls over a net.

Very nice quaint bar on locust in the riverwest neighborhood. This place has a "everyone knows your name feel" The people who frequent here are either people who are regulars, friends or regulars, or people from the community. The bar food is actually decent and not overpriced. Its a real laid back type of place. Its diverse I'm sure they don't have any or to many security issues. So that means sit back relax and enjoy good bar food and a diverse crowd of people.

I will preface this by saying I am not a bar person. Since I don't drink or smoke, it makes sense. So that will explain why I have never even though about going into tracks in the 2.5 years I've lived down the block from it. So, it happened that they were advertising a special of chicken salad sandwiches and mushroom barley soup on a sign (two of my favorite foods), when I was heading home from the bus and I decided 'What the hey..." There was only one table occupied when I showed up and only one staff member on duty. He was so kind and helpful and patient. The place was packed by the time we left, and I didn't even notice until we stood up because he made us feel as if we were the only ones there the whole time. The burgers I ordered (yes, the menu looked too tasty to stick to the specials) were amazing! I called my friend down to try them with me and we were amazed. The tator tots and fries were great. Everything was awesome. This is my first review on Yelp, because I felt it would be a disservice to my neighbors if I didn't tell them to try it. I didn't get any weird looks or treatment because I was black (wanna mention it, because it happens quite a bit out here in Riverwest places surprisingly). It was so welcoming, it makes me want to go back and even play some volleyball. Happy to have given this spot a chance. PS - I was even stung in the leg by a hornet while eating outside there, and still have this loving review. Trust me it was a really nice surprise for me on a day that was otherwise sort of crappy.

they got it all here. they got volleyball, parking, firepit, patio, good food, great friendly service. the only thing missing...really...are the tracks! woot woot....no tracks. A great place to watch local sports.

I just came to drink beer and watch the tail end of the Brewers game. Had a great bartender and the whole bar was cheering the Brewers! This is my kind of place!

I had a nice conversation with an old Riverwester while both he and I had a beer during the wait for our takeout order. When I got home, I had an embarrassing fish fry. Note that my 2-star rating reflects my personal tastes. I believe for some, The Tracks is probably wonderful (see below for other reviews). For me, however, I cannot imagine a reason to return. Alas, The Tracks and I must go our separate ways.

Wow, what happened? Read my original review from 10/18/12 after you have read this one. Like Night and Day, is this the same place? My wife and I have been going to The Tracks since Y2K and never a bad experience. We even brought other folks and won them over, but Wednesday night was a great disappointment. Although our first, we still don't like paying for disappointments. Being railfans, not the boozing but train types, I invited HighIronofWisconsin, the foremost YouTube railroad videographer and a seasoned veteran when it comes to fish fries to join us. We didn't realize it was Trivia Night, but lucked out getting the last four-seat table. Few in the room however were ordering food and I should have known something from that. Receiving our menus, the prices for Wednesday & Friday specials had all been raised a dollar, on top of a previous dollar raise in 2011. This pushes The Tracks into a pricy experience for most of us. As railfans sitting in a unique setting surrounded by all that railroad memorabilia, it would still would be worth it if the food was satisfying. Unfortunately, it was not. With two fish fries ordered, both were equally overwhelmed by too much breading and too little fish. You almost needed a hammer to get through the breading and what was there was enough for a Pigmy. My shrimp was fine, but now $9, ugh! Is this the end of The Tracks for us? We're probably give it one more try, and hope management not only reads my two reviews, but does something about it. Now more than ever those $5 Entertainment Coupons (they used to be $6) will be the green light to The Tracks!

This place has great chicken wings everyday. Period. I'd confidently say they are Milwaukee's best. Also, on weekends only, they have good pork sliders. Across the board they have a lot of really good sandwiches. It can get a bit over-run with volleyball players during weeknights, but has a pretty consistent crowd at nearly anytime I've been inside. Worth noting--as several other reviewers below have--that it's a departure from other Riverwest bars...The Tracks is much more of an up north watering hole than a hipster hangout, though it strikes a nice balance between the two.

Went for Monday Night Football with some friends. Had no problem securing a table, but apparently it can get crowded during Packer games. They had $1 Schlitz beer but a couple of us opted for the $4.50 steins. Decent menu with lots of options for all palettes (ie. side of cottage cheese, any one?) Props to our server who was very friendly, attentive, and sassy. Would've felt better about the place had it not been for the porno pics in the bathrooms (maybe that's your style?) or for the bar fight that broke out after the Bears beat the Vikings. Stay classy, Milwaukee.

Tracks. Man....this is my go-to bar on those occasions when it's 12:30am on a Friday and I'm still in the mood for some drankin'. It's one of the few bars around that isn't crazy busy that late at night, which means I can stop in and get a drink right away. If I had to guess, I would say that the majority of Tracks' business come from the volleyball leagues that are frequent during the early evening, so by midnight there isn't a capacity problem. The crowd at Tracks is pretty diverse. You have college kids and post-college Riverwesters all the way to the grizzled old regulars. Everyone there is usually pretty jovial and they are simply there to drink and be merry. The bartenders are always laid back and accommodating. While the bar area is the most crowded place, I like to hide away in the dining room or , weather permitting, go out onto their big patio. It's not the prettiest patio, but who cares? It has chairs and tables, so it works for me. I'm there to have a conversation with good friends, not be seen. The bathrooms here always crack me up, because they have different pages from nudie mags stuck into a display case on the wall. So while you drunkenly tinkle you can read about 'Kaylee' and convince yourself that a girl like her would totally be into you. Tracks does serve food and the menu is above your average pub grub. The Riverwest burger is tasty and worth a try. They also have a Friday fish fry. While the food is good, it can sometimes take a while when it's busy because the tiny kitchen has a hard time keeping up. The overall atmosphere at Tracks is unassuming. It's not trying to be anything other than a space to hang out, so keep that in mind if you decide to give this place a shot.

Was in town from Canada visiting a few friends and they brought me here,I'm really glad they did! Great food, great service And the patio section is great to sit back and watch a packers game. Not to mention they have miller high life on tap, something I can't get back home :) Im definitely hitting this place up again when I come back to MILWAUKEE!!!

Before I really knew what Milwaukee's deal was, if I had to paint a picture of the city in my head, it pretty much looked like The Tracks. Maybe some people would harold this, but to me it just makes me uncomfortable as I've found that Milwaukee isn't the working class alcoholics dream I once thought. That aside, they have a great honey mustard salad dressing and the pretzel sticks are pretty good. However, some of the weakest cocktails I've ever had- they use the ol' "use a pint glass and charge for doubles even though the drink is watered down well liquor" trick.

This place is underrated. I'm not the biggest fan of bar food, but I think this is some of the better bar food available - and the prices are reasonable. Their cheese curds are my favorite in Milwaukee, and their Buffalo chicken wrap is great as well. Service can be hit or miss, but it's definitely a place worth checking out.

The Tracks is an interesting place - it's a cross section of Riverwest at its best, but it's still mostly a sports bar. Never is that more evident than during Volleyball Sundays. We arrived early and watched the crowd of neighborhood day-drinkers filter out, and the packs of bro-sters head on in. I like to think that Tracks is the Riverwest version of Leff's in Tosa. Or more correctly, it's predecessor in the life cycle of the bro...college bros from UWM head to the Tracks to play on one of the leagues and check out the ladies, then they get married & move to the West side and go to Leff''s, and finally end out their popped collar days at some bar near a golf course in Delafield. It's probably called Mulligans or something. Anyway... Things worth knowing...the bar staff is really, really, really nice. They have Sriracha chicken strips that appear to be house breaded from actual chicken parts & they are very tasty. Tater tots are available. These are all important things to me, since I'll be spending some time here to cheer on the Yelp V-ball team. Also, I hear that there's some softcore porn (boobage) in the gent's but the ladies room has no displays? What's up with that?

Always love coming here. Staff is really nice and the food is always great. They have free WiFi which is awesome for getting some work done while you wait for food. It also doesn't hurt that it's so close to my house. Just wish dogs were allowed on the patio :(

Horrible meal today. Went in at 2pm. The place was dead. Our male server came by and took our orders: 1 chowder,1 soup and cheese curds, along with 2 fisherman's delight. Soup and curds came our about 15 min after ordering. Both soups were body temp. After 15 minutes they sold be at least 140. Curds were great. Platters came out and the cod wasn't beer battered anymore. They changed to corn meal. Blah. Shrimp was frozen and fried...ugh. The perch was mediocre. The service was fine. It wasn't his fault the food was super sub par. Paid $55 on a $42 tab. Improve your food.

I've had food here, I've had drinks here, and now I've played volleyball here....and all 3.....were pretty awesome. But you know what is even more awesome, and will make me an even bigger fan? The service here is AMAZING. Maybe it's because I haven't spent a lot of time in Riverwest, but hearing the bartender say "What can I get you, friend" was simply awesome. The food wasn't that great, but it was pretty good for a bar. They added cheese to the cheese curds which I thought was a little weird, but the burger was decent. I'm not sure how often I'll eat here, but it's definitely a great bar to have a pitcher or two at.

Your typical WI dive-bar with 2 decent volleyball courts. The food & beer selection are decent as well. I learned from experience however, that they could definitely use a little more netting around the courts! (Balls tend to end up in the parking lot, dumpster, or even in the street - yikes!)

I get it now. This place is a melting pot of all past, present, and future residents of the East side. So you used to be cool in college, but maybe now that you are in your 30's or 40's and want to play some volleyball, you prefer to hang out somewhere that isn't full of douches or inundated with bratty children. The Tracks is your place! Perfectly situated on the edge of Riverwest and on the edge of the UWM neighborhood, it is perfectly situated for those who might have one foot in their past and one in the present. Although I'm probably twice the age of most of the people here, I don't feel out of place. I started coming here for the volleyball league this summer and have realized that there are plenty of peeps just like me; white collar by day, Pumas by night! Recently I've fallen in love with the Sirhacha chicken tenders and righteous tater-tots, all at up-north cheap-ass prices! There is a huge parking lot, a large dining area, and side-boob pics in the men's can. There is even a sweet fire-pit on the patio. Don't forget about the three volleyball courts! It is about as East-sidey as a sports bar can get.

Fried and baked fish fry was really good. Service was pleasant, but a little slow. Try the wings for a no heat treat with really good tasting blue cheese dressing. Would come back again!!!

Tracks is Riverwest's premier sports bar. Where human potential is realized on a magnificent stage. It's Riverwest's only sports bar, as far as I've noticed. And it may not even technically be a sports bar. Are there such things as train bars? What about train bars with volleyball courts? Tracks is a bar in Riverwest with sports on TVs. That makes it a stand-out. I've noticed that Bosco's on Burleigh also has sports on TVs, but as of this review I've only coasted by it on bike. Looks like there's only 1 review for Bosco's. Perhaps it's time to check it out with some Yelpers? Back to Tracks. I first stepped foot on her sandy volleyball courts 2 years ago with a rag-tag team of old High School buds and new Milwaukee friendlies. I've been to Tracks a ton in my few years in Milwaukee and just about every time was sports-related. Either I used their cable TVs to watch key playoff match-ups whilst drinking a pitcher or two on my own, or I was simply there to drink pitchers and slap balls out of the sky. Their pitchers are $9 for a handful of domestics and $13 for any micro brew or higher end choice. This is great for the weekly volleyball league games. The league has a running competition among teams for who drinks the most pitchers during the season. Yes, you can even come to Tracks on non game nights and score pitcher points. Some of my friends definitely like the food. I rarely order any, but I remember that the Chicken Strips (a.k.a. Fingers) are plump and juicy. It's very neighborhoody and easy-going. The Rabbi tends to stroll through, flowers in hand, every time I'm there. I'm sure it is no coincidence. The bartenders are friendly and make the place feel like a comfortable spot to watch a sport. There is a big parking lot that fills completely on game nights and there's only a bit of bike parking (although more was very recently added). This review may be boring, but blame that on me. Tracks is fun and easy and better enjoyed with a few friends. The men's bathroom has one urinal and one toilet "stall". The stall door leaves little to the imagination as it is sort of a cowboy swingy type door that touches the sitter (shitter) on his knees as he steals a desperate moment. I've certainly witnessed a few fellas' last resorts as the door faces squarely to the urinal user's right shoulder. Little toes poke out under the door. The bulletin board boasts a display of boobs and neighborhood events as a lovely juxtaposition of community togetherness and sweet feminine beauty smashed between two dudes trying to pretend they aren't just inches apart in an ape shit show. Tracks brings people together. It can show us what is real. It uses the stage of sport and unwritten male bathroom code to reveal to you who you've become. Will you live up to the challenge? Also: Free Wi-Fi!

First yelp review for me, felt obligated. I had the cod fish fry last night; worst ever. Three paper thin filets overcooked and barely edible, tasted like cardboard. Too bad I don't care for tartar sauce, which they give you a bowl full, likely to mask the "fish". A year prior I had tried their perch fry, despite negative online reviews, and even the waiter recommending against. I should have listened. The rest of their menu looks delicious, I wish I had gotten a burger but was Jonesin for a fish fry. No problems with the beer selection or waiter (and the clam chowder was good), but the female bartender's annoying voice could be heard in adjacent counties; I was considering eating outside in the rain.

I have been playing volleyball here for the last 5 years so I have spent my fair share of time in this establishment. It did come over new owners a few years ago and the food is way better than it used to be. The bar staff is great to talk to and have a great selection of beers for you to try. The specials rotate daily with Tuesdays being build your own taco night, which always seems to draw a crowd. I believe Thursdays is Jamaican night where Red Stripe is super cheap. The War spicy chicken sandwich is amazing and comes on a pretzel bun. What more do you need? The wait staff comes out to the courts to take food and drink orders too. I love playing vball here since they have refs, there is always parking, all the courts are well maintained and well lit, and they have a fire pit to warm up on those cold fall days.

I'm leaving a five star review because this is great food for the price and great service! Try the sriracha chicken strips. I love the fish tacos. Soup of the day can be hit or miss but you can't go wrong with an order of tots. My boyfriend has gotten the WAR burger, fisherman's fish fry, iggy pop, onion rings and nachos. Onion rings have a thick coating so we're not big fans but everything still tastes good.

After having driven past this place a few dozen times and never noticed it, I was pleasantly surprised with my first encounter. Granted the finally sunny Saturday may have positively jaded my perception, I enjoyed the couple hours I spent at The Tracks. They have enclosed sand volleyball courts, which is the primary reason I came, but their service and friendly attitudes kept me beyond. The inside decor is much like an old supper clubby feel, and I'm told their food is 'good enough' to sit and watch the game, so it fills up quickly. We brought our pitchers out to the patio so I can't comment too much on the rest, but I will be back to check it out and update my review.

I moved from the East Coast to Milwaukee recently and have been impressed with how nice the people in the Midwest are. I have not had any negative encounters with rude people until I went to Tracks. The service was mediocre, the waitress with the long blond hair was not nice to my friends and I. We waited over 20 minutes before we were offered to be serviced, at that point we decided to leave. She gave us attitude and really disappointed me. I will not be going back to Tracks to have fun and enjoy casual food and casual drinks. However, if i ever feel like i miss middle-school/mean girls drama then maybe id consider going to Tracks.

The only time I've been to The Tracks was for a take-out fish fry, and really, this was what a fish fry shouldn't be. The fries were mushy and overly salty, and the fish was tough, almost rubbery. I also had to wait almost 20 minutes from when I was told my order would be ready. The outdoor seating looked like fun, and if I ever go back, I will definitely try something else from the menu.

i thought this was one of the best fish frys that i have had since living in milwaukee... what i really liked about it was that the batter stayed on the fish really well and it wasnt too thick. sometimes you take one bite and the entire cover will come off. then you are stuck with the decision to eat the batter alone, eat the fish alone, or just try and connect it back together... i didnt have to worry about that here, and that made me happy... i think they had some good drink specials as well...
