Stopped in her twice this past month. Came in one time after a brewer game on a Friday night for a drink. Place was hoping and very busy. Fun vibe. Mega size Jenga was fun. Came back on a weekday for Bloody Mary's One word: FANTASTIC! Can't wait to go back.

I got what I deserved for disregarding the low Yelp rating when I decided to come here for happy hour the other day. First of all, "half-price apps" is misleading. It sounds like a fine deal, but the apps available for half-price also come in smaller portions. I'm no math wiz, but if I'm paying half and then getting about half, that is not a savings. That's just paying less and getting less. That's directly proportional. But that's the least of this place's worries. I'm primarily traumatized by the food. We ordered what I believe was called Third Street Nachos and they were the most bizarre interpretation of a basic bar food that I've ever seen: A pile of stale tortilla chips topped with raw sliced mushrooms, cold and uncooked chopped onion and red pepper, a few chunks of lukewarm chicken, a blob of nacho cheese and what appeared to be a sour cream drizzle. The mushrooms were downright jarring. I say that as someone who likes mushrooms, but just... not on top of nachos, you know? The two other apps we ordered -- sliders and buffalo chicken rolls -- were not memorable or particularly warm, but at least they were inoffensive compared to the shroom nachos. Beer prices were steeper than I expected for a happy hour deal, but maybe that's just nature of being out on Old World Third. The Loaded Slate may be a fine bar, if you're looking for a place to grab a drink and you happen to be in this part of town. I can't speak to that, as it was a Tuesday night and we were two of four people in the entire place. But I would encourage you to explore other options if you're looking for a bite on Old World Third. Unless shroom nachos sound like your thing.

Here's a quick rundown after two recent visits by a couple out-of-towners... Friendly bartenders and staff. Consistently decent, modern music selection. A few flat screens running sports (moreless) Okay for kids, until the darkness sets in... Monday thru Friday Happy Hour, 4pm-7pm ($3 apps, drink specials) Geared towards the younger crowds (I'm 30 and felt aged). Decent local, bottled craft beer selection (New Glarus, MKE, etc.), with a handful of domestic tappers and an original Bloody Mary menu (pretty tasty stuff!) Burgers are greasy as hell. Reuben rolls are even greasier than hell. Jumbo Cheese Jalapeno Tots are NOT jumbo (and surprise, their greasy). Bottom line...friendly staff, solid background tunes, decent beer selection with daily specials, good Bloody Mary's, plenty of food on the menu to choose from, but the grub is far from refined and in need of serious execution management. It's a swell place to stop if milking a hangover, grab a beer, an app or two, and debate where to score dinner or which distillery/brewery to check out. It's close enough to the Aloft Hotel, which was a plus. Not sure if we would've checked it out otherwise.

It's an interesting concept. All the slate and chalk writings. A very young crowd resides here. My bloody mary was so salty that I simply could not choke it down -- good thing is our young little tank-topped in winter server was so sweet and kind enough to get me another drink instead and not charge me after trying to fix the first bloody mary. She really was a doll. It's a cool place and all. But doesn't resonate as well with me as maybe it would some others.

DINER BEWARE!!!! Horrible experience! 1st and last time I will ever go to this resturant. Went to the Loaded Slate for a Bloody Mary and lunch on 3/8/2015. Something that was served to me was MOLDY! Which I am allergic to. Within 10 min of eating/drinking my meal I started having a SEVERE allergic reaction. I ended up in urgent care where i was treated then transferred by ambulance to the ER, where I had to spend 4-5 hrs in their care. According to the owner/manager though, I'm lying because it's not possible for them to serve MOLDY food! REALLY!?! I have the medical bills to prove otherwise! After some research, I found they have had problems twice in the past with MOLD in their icemaker and around their soda gun. NASTY! ! CLEAN AND SANITIZE YOUR RESTURANT AND CHECK YOUR EXP. DATES!

Just discovered this place on our last trip through Milwaukee on the way to GB. A nice waitress informed us of the $20 special, two pitchers and a dozen wings. We said, yeah, bring it on. What a fun place. Next time, we'll be trying the bloody mary/meal. Great service and crowd.

This place is a JOKE....so me and my girlfriend stopped in because she heard about their "Waffle nacho Fries",so she ordered them. Me myself, I ordered a Turkey club for $9.00 and added bacon for $2.00....her (my girlfriend) Nachos were $9.00....upon receiving our food we noticed that the "Waffle Nacho fries" had no Waffle fries....we were told that the regular fries that were in the nachos were called "Pub Waffle fries"......lmao....my Club sandwich was horrible, the bacon was undercooked and rubbery. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. ..it took everything in my power to leave a $7 tip.

Not going to discredit the waitstaff who were friendly and obviously working hard, but yikes, the food was awful. We went for downtown dining because we figured it would be a good opportunity to try the food. Bad idea. Save your money. Some of the food was bland and over cooked, while other items were way too salty and under cooked. Don't ever try the fried peanut butter & jelly for dessert. Literally tasted like fried salt. Not even edible. Definitely won't be eating here ever again.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner during Downtown Dining Week, and we were extremely disappointed. Two of the the four appetizers and one of the entrees weren't available. The burger that I ended up having (the Slumber Jack Burger) came with a fried egg, which was burnt around the edges. This was after they messed up my order the first time. The dessert that my boyfriend had (the Deep-Fried Oatmeal Girl Scout Cookie) wasn't fried, it was burnt to a crisp and the cheesecake I had was nothing special. To be fair, the appetizers that we had were pretty good, but our overall experience was anything but. Even though it was a special menu for Downtown Dining Week, the food was overpriced and nothing we would come back to have again. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner (but I might consider it for happy hour or an appetizer).

While I was in town for a conference, I decided to stop in The Loaded Slate and was extremely happy that I did. The service was excellent, as well as The Kickin' Chicken Rolls, but the absolute star of my visit was The Loaded Bloody Mary, complete with a Pabst chaser, a must try! I'll never view a Bloody Mary the same again. What an awesome experience overall.

The Loaded Slate's menu states "Walk in a stranger; leave as a friend." I must have caught them on an off night (the first Thursday of Summerfest); as my experience was nothing of the 'friendly' sort. I stopped in with two friends to check out TLS and by midway through the meal, determined I would not return. A brief summary: 1. Our server wasn't exactly welcoming or friendly. If you want people to spend money in your establishment, even faking like you care would go a long way. She seemed more interested in the music selection (TODAY'S HOT POP HITS VOL. 74). I get the feeling this place pops off on a Friday or Saturday night, but I'm not sure TLS knows what the theme would be. Are they a dance club? A sports bar? A bar with a chalkboard theme? Pick one. That's not the fault of the wait staff, just a note for improvement. 2. Taco Bangers = grease party. These should be served with a side of Tums. Interestingly enough, I couldn't find these on the official menu; they were recommended by our server. 3. Burger selection: solid options (7) including black and blue, triple pepper, and a patty melt. The accompanying chips were a bit overcooked and I'm not sure a $2 charge for previously frozen fries or tots is necessary. 4. Beer: $1 PBR cans on Thursday is no joke. Despite those dollar PBRs, this -- like many of the establishments on OW3rd -- is just not my type of place. I'd like to be able to hear the conversation while not having to yell over club music on a dead Thursday evening. TLS seemingly markets their business to anyone and everyone -- Brewers/sports fans, weekend old world third street club-goers, businesses (catering), birthday/bachelor/bachelorette parties, families (?!?) -- without a clear plan of attack. In the end, it's trying to be a pub that thinks it is a club yet wants to be a sports bar while attempting to cater to everyone. There are so many other places who do this type of food much better and have great service to boot. Sorry, but I'd rather be a stranger than a regular here.

Located one block from the Bradley Center, this is one of the best places to catch any Wisconsin games. With great happy hour specials, I love to stop in before any Bradley Center events and when you show your ticket.... the second drink is on them! I also think they do have great brunch and bloody marys. The staff is really nice and accommodating. There is a great atmosphere and plenty of space. I rented the back room out for an event and they gave us a great deal. It was a tad disorganized at times but they definitely worked with me throughout the night. Added bonus: great music and fun people!

Went on a thursday evening, thought it looked dirty but you never know. The reuben rolls appetizer was greasy but delicious enough. Our entries, black and blue burger and black bean burger were disgusting. Just disgusting. Charred, the saddest slice of onion I've ever seen and a dried out hockey puck of a pretzel roll. The fries were good though as soon as the food was set in front of us we got a lot of old fryer grease smell. I kept having to remind myself I wasn't on water street. The beer selection was average and quite expensive. Despite the wide range of mid '90's dance music, I would never go back, ever.

Well.... I had read some of the other reviews before I went. And unfortunately they were right. I went last Thursday night(10/11/12), with my boyfriend and his friend. We got there and the place was packed! We sat at the table in the front window. And then were not approached by a server for 15 minutes. My boyfriend actually went to the bar and got us menus. When we finally did get service, we told the server IMMEDIATELY that we had a restaurant.com certificate. It was Happy Hour(probably one of the reasons it was so busy), and we wanted to take full advantage of the specials. Fantastic specials! $3 Appetizers(all but 2 of them). And $3 Rails and Taps. We ordered one of every app. The wings were perfect. Nicely sauced, with just the right amount of heat. The nachos were large and the Guinness Cheese sauce was amazing!(beware of the kick) The Portabella "Casey-Deeya" was very flavorful. I am slightly ashamed to say, we ordered another it was so good. The Belly Bombers were flavorful but nothing special. The Rueben Sticks were good, possibly too much wonton wrapper. The saddest part was, that for an entire restaurant full of people, there was ONLY ONE waitress!!!! She could have been Super Server and there was no way she could have kept up. I give her tons of credit. She did the best she could under the circumstance. She was running her tail off and was still smiling and sweet. Our dinner took an obscene amount of time. Luckily we were not in any kind of hurry and wanted to linger over drinks. Bonus for the brand new Bacardi Table-sized Jenga set. It kept the long wait from being awful. The other tense moment came when the waitress informed us that our Restaurant.com certificate did not apply to Happy Hour Specials. She had the Owner come over and speak to us. We kindly explained that the first words we said to the waitress were that we were going to use the certificate and that she said that was more than okay. It also is not written anywhere in the long list of fine print on the certificate. The reason they got 3 stars is because, in the end the owner said we could use the certificate this time(truly a nice guy). The food was good. And it was not our server's fault she was the only server. To the owner of The Loaded Slate.... HIRE MORE WAITSTAFF!!!! PLEASE! You have a great restaurant, your reviews are bad based on service!

Went for lunch in a group of 8 people during dining week, so to be fair, I have to acknowledge that they were pretty busy. I had the fried pickles for the appetizer, which were really quite outstanding. However, things kind of went downhill from there. Three of us got wrap sandwiches, while all the others got burgers. The burgers were reportedly tasty, although none had bacon on them as stated on the menu. More strange was the fact that out of all of us who got the wraps, not one of us got the kind we ordered--we were all given something totally different that didn't look like anything we had seen on the special lunch menu at all. And whatever it was, it wasn't that good. We all ordered the fried oatmeal cookie for dessert, and we all got a fried Girl Scout cookie, which, while they theoretically could have been even better than the oatmeal, unfortunately were clearly left in the fry too long and tasted burnt. Probably won't be returning....unless I get a craving for those pickles.

Loaded slate is well appraised by fellow yelpers at three stars. Inside, I could not help but wonder why it has orange, seemingly sponge-painted walls. This is a poor choice. On the other hand, it's wings are delightful and inexpensive and it has a fair selection of good beers on tap and in bottles. Table in the front has stools that are absurdly low for the table height. I felt like I'd shrunk when I sat down there. Undoubtedly I would return, especially when hungry for wings (but not particularly worried about ambiance).

Went here so my wife could enjoy a Bloody Mary, which took 8 minutes, but was Amazing! The food was good and the portions large. Here endeth the "good". Came in to really unique big-band-ish music only to have some regulars (read: D-Bags) sit down at 1pm on a Sun. and request "House" music. This lasted about 4 minutes because even the bartender couldn't stand it. The crowd was younger, and very noisy, but I still liked the place until my wife spotted the dog. Yep, there was a dog in the bar. Not as if there was a high level of cleanliness, but that was the last straw for me. Won't be back.

I wasn't even aware they serve food here. Only reason most people go here is to get wasted!

Good specials, surprisingly good burgers, good place to stop by if you're in the area and you want a cheap bite to eat or cheap drinks. The crowd varies from time to time. On my last visit for a bite and a beverage, the crowd was younger, probably college-aged and were a bit obnoxious but hey, we've all been there before!

Welcome to the Loaded Salt... I was with Heather C... and really she summed it up quite nicely. I have to say that their happy hour specials were pretty decent with $3 tap beers and $3 apps. That's why the 2 stars. BUT - Holy salt Batman! I did not get the aforementioned Salty Tots... I got the chips as a side - and WOWSA.. SALT LICK. YIKES. Who knows what happened - but boy oh boy they did not skimp on the salt. Our server was very kind and sweet - AND the only one. They weren't properly prepared for an event night so our food came out cold. Everything looked great and the ambiance was pretty AOK. Next time I'll just be enjoying a drink if I even were to come back.

I will warn you by stating that I am a little biased (shout out to my sister, the best bartender in Milwaukee). That being said, I enjoy the Slate. It's a smaller place but you can play jenga and they play good music. I went in for brunch yesterday, and I had a killer bloody mary, and a so-so veggie breakfast burrito with cheesy hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were great, but I don't suppose it is too difficult to make something delicious when you add a hunk of cheese to it. The veggie burrito was fresh but I couldn't put my finger on what was missing until I was halfway through... oh yes, it was the eggs! =/ My friend ordered the grilled cheese and did not really enjoy it. My other friend got the Slamberry wrap with waffle fries and said it was really good. Like I said, I know the bartender, so I received great service. However, it was not too busy so I'm sure you will also get a bartender's undivided attention. Once it gets nice out they will have outdoor seating, so I'm sure it will be busier then. Give it a try!

Get the Bloody Mary! It takes awhile, so either accept the beer chaser or order another drink in the meantime as they prep all the 'garnish' as you order them.

Loaded Bloody for $13. Not bad, a little watery, stacked w quarter of burger, a chicken wing, pickle, etc. Waitress was great and friendly. Stopped ~11am weekend. Great patio. Didn't try the food. Maybe next time I'll give it a whirl.

I was on the verge of giving a one star review, however I held back only due to the fact that our server was attentive. We dined in for the Fox 6 Dining week and upon reading over their menu, we were actually excited to go. We both started with their 'famous' loaded slate wings with spicy bbq sauce. They came out, somewhat burnt, and no sauce to say the least. The blue cheese sauce or whatever that was was completely tasteless as well. As we were still getting down the chicken wings (they come whole which I like), our entrees arrived. Go figure. I ordered their chicken club sandwich. From the looks of it, the sandwich looked promising. It has a chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. When I placed the top bun on top, I knew I was in for another disappointment. The bun was super hard, almost like cardboard. The sandwich was flavorless as well, and I had about 30 percent more bun leftover as the chicken slid out. Chipotle mayo? Again, so flavor, and no spice. My coworker order the same wings, same experience. He ordered the reuben panini. As he said it was large in size, and it was, he also said it had no flavor. The dessert came and we both ordered the brownie and ice cream. After all, the choice were ice cream, brown ice cream, or brownie. The ice cream was hard as a rock, again flavorless. Who serves flavorless vanilla ice cream?! I tried to cut into their 'melt in your mouth' brownie, and could not even get a fork through it! I picked it up and the thing was burnt underneath. You had to be kidding me? We both walked out and both expressed that we wanted to get that taste out of our mouth, the burnt brownie that is. We both left about 80 percent of the dessert on the plate. I would not recommend this place. Sure, for a beer maybe, but the food? No way.

I just received this private message from Jerome M. who claims to be the owner of this place. I can't help but laugh at how this guy thinks his place is going to make it with this attitude, which is exactly the attitude we received when we complained during our visit: "You obviously know nothing about this industry, I am sorry you had a bad experience there, but reviews like yours is what is wrong with YELP. I have 100 compliment to every one bad complaint, YELP is a site for complainers. If you had such a bad time why didn't you wright manager or talk to an owner I sure they would have tried to make your experience better, and taken the criticism to heart and tried to make their place better. Instead you went on line and tried to ruin someones livelihood with out a thought of the consequences I wish I had that luxury of living a life and not caring about others. I hope all goes well for you in your life and again I am sorry you had such a horrible day out. Remember their are people in this world that have nothing and never complain and they still strive to help others." Thanks for Reading, Owner, The Loaded Slate

Great place to watch the Packers!! The best place in Milwaukee for a true game day experience with like-minded fans of the Green & Gold. Great food, more than reasonable bar prices and one heck of a good time.

Been here twice. First time for a badger game. Bartenders were attentive and showed regard for customers. Second time the young guy bartending was blaring obnoxious country music for himself and spent most of the time in the back room leaving the bar empty. When he was behind the bar his face was glued to his phone. We probably would've stayed quite a bit longer had the service been different. Also, there was a dog roaming around the bar on several occassions...is that even legal at a place that serves food? Not to mention the dog came from the back, where I assume the kitchen is. Lots of potential for this place, but so far missing the mark overall for me.

On our first visit to the Loaded Slate, I ordered their chicken sandwich (a nice quality grilled chicken, which I really appreciate, by the way) with cranberry and fresh baby spinach plus provolone cheese, supposed to be served in a wheat wrap, but instead came on well-greased sourdough type bread without explanation. The sandwich, by default, came with chips, which were lightly dusted with Parmesan and herbs. I appreciated the combos of this sandwich, with the cranberry flavor and a bit of spinach for added oomph to keep me "strong to the finish". The bartender, a young brunette gal, was friendly and helpful, talking up the black and Bleu burger and their brunch. The Loaded Slate, at least on this Monday night, appeared to be popular with the college-aged crowd. The bar had a clean appearance and the patrons were low key. I would describe the place as primarily a bar, with some decent eats to be found. On our next visit, we tried some of the $3 apps including the sweet chili wings. We were given a sample of the sauce before ordering, and they were a hit with us. We also had the Rueben sticks, of which a version is available in many establishments in Milwaukee. These were fine. Again the service was friendly, and I'm sure we'll be back for some sweet chili wings.

Great food, good music, hot girls, decent guys (girls win, sorry lads). Definitely a fun place to go in Milwaukee especially if you're trying to get your rumple fix on. You might even be lucky enough to catch an athlete, they do frequent this hot spot! A few more good takeaways: friendly bartenders and great owners! They really know how to run a good business. Don't miss out on this place!

If you're looking for a good place to try during Fox6 Days of Dining, give The Loaded Slate a shot. My friend and I stopped in mid-afternoon for a late lunch and were greeted and seated right away. While it was empty when we arrived, the bar seating started to fill up soon after. For $10 (Days of Dining special), I had the shepherd's pie soup, the Thanksgiving panini, and fried s'more. The soup was flavorful but could have been a bit warmer. The panini was a solid choice, stacked with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry glaze. The fried s'more was rich and fantastic, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Nom. The service was great, and food was delivered quickly. Looking around, it seemed like there was a good variety of drinks and specials throughout the week. All in all, this was a good visit, and I'd be interested in returning to get a better sense of their typical menu.

The Loaded Slate must sprinkle their chicken tenders appetizer with crack. SOOOO delicious. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon during their fantastic happy hour ($3 apps yall!). We loved the chicken tenders, nachos, and tacos. We could leave the wings - far better places in Milwaukee to get wings. The place was empty except for another couple at the bar so our food came quickly and the service was friendly.

Terrible service. Actually NO service. Waited for 20 minutes for a server while server went to the table right next to us. Went to bar it try to get service and bar tender looked at us and walked away.

Nice location, unfortunately construction is currently going on so it might be hard to locate for those not familiar with MKE's downtown. Solid beer selection and a good-sized menu. I went with the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and was very pleased. They put some sort of garlic seasoning on the bread, which was delicious, and I highly recommend getting the waffle fries. I must say that their Buffalo sauce is one of the spiciest I've ever had, and I really like spicy food, so take caution. Hope this place sticks around.

I'm not going to lie, I went here on a Groupon. The first time we went, we walked in waited for someone to wait on us -- we ended up leaving because no one came over to us. Fast forward to Friday night, I'm back in MKE and holding this Groupon. Lets try this again. Because at this time we're starting at 0 stars. We walked in and again the same situation, busy bar no servers around. My cousin walked up to the bar and shortly after that our server came over. She couldn't have been nicer. Ok Plus one star. We ended up ordering nachos and some burgers. No complaints on the food. I had the Slamberry which was very good. I was impressed. Some faith had been restored. If you're bored with the chalk thing there is a ice big ass Jenga game at the two front tables!!!

Went here during restaurant week. The food was actually really good. I had a burger, like usual, and my wife had a strawberry salad and the thanksgiving panini and a deep fried schmore for dessert. The happy hour is very good, too. Staff was really knowledgeable and kind. A little pricey, but worth it. Check this place OUT!

A unique concept for a bar--chalk provided so you can see if your artistic ability increases while you drink! I went to The Loaded Slate on a Saturday afternoon. I feel bad for this place, as there is a lot of construction going on in the area and parking was difficult to find. However, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by some staff who jokingly invited us to help them put up Christmas decorations. We declined, as all we wanted to do was drink beer. :) The bartender was very friendly but knew nothing about beer. I didn't think this could be possible, especially since beer is an essential element of the Milwaukeean's diet, right? I had initially asked her what porters or stouts they had in bottles or on tap? She replied that she didn't know much about beer because she doesn't drink it, but I could come around and look in the case if I wanted to. I have no problem with bars hiring young, cute, female bartenders, but could you teach them at least a few things about beer? It's a Milwaukee staple. Other than the lack o' brew-ski knowledge, the place had a friendly atmosphere.

I went here with a groupon on a Sunday morning. We got there pretty close to open and the server was promptly at our table. She was extremely friendly and engaging. We both ordered the Loaded Bloody Mary, which was AWESOME. It had a hot fresh onion ring, beef stick, pickle, lemon, lime...the works. The bloody mix was pretty good too. The Loaded Bloodies are by far the best appetizer. I got the Slate Burger and my guest got the buffalo chicken sandwich. We both got the tots. My burger kicked his sandwiches ass, but both was great. The burger was juicy and delicious, and (my poor arteries), I LOVE the salty tots. Mine weren't overbearing, but obviously they are cooked each time and are going to be different based on the cook. Unfortunately upon ordering a second round of bloodies, we too noticed them sitting on the end of the bar for about 10 minutes before being delivered. There was only one server, but because it was relatively slow it worked out okay. Staff up people, your food is worth it!

I absolutely hate giving bad reviews, and really hope that I just went in on a bad day. But, the entire experience put Loaded Slate on my list of places I will most likely not go back to. I went in with a group (Their reviews will be coming Im am sure) before an event at the Bradley Center. While walking there from my car I noticed all of the restaurants and bars around were packed. I got to Loaded Slate and there were still plenty of places to sit or stand. The majority of the customers were the construction workers that were working up the street. There were about 7 tables eating and only one server. The poor girl was obviously not an experienced server and was having a really hard time keeping up with everything. After about 10 mins she came over and took our drink and food order. After awhile of her not returning with out drinks we looked down the bar and saw them sitting there waiting for us while the bartender chatted with some people sitting there. So, I walked down to the end of the bar and got our drinks myself. I ordered a Chicken/Pinapple/Pepper Jack Cheese Sandwich and asked for an order of Nachos as an appetizer. After what seemed like quite a while the Nachos never came. I figured she forgot about them. She was too busy running between tables I just called it a lose. Eventually our food came, and guess what! So did the Nachos. My food looked Delicious. A Lightly toasted sandwich sprinkled with parmesean cheese, chicken, melted pepper jack and pinapple with perfectly cooked tater tots. And then I ate a Tater Tot. It was like biting in to a cube of salt!! They were so salty it was actually burning my tongue! I was so disappointed!! I moved on to my sandwich. Although the menu didn't specify that the sandwich would be warm, the toasted bread and melted cheese made me believe it would. Until I bit in to it. Ice Cold! Ugh!! I can only blame the cook for the amount of salt on all of the food. What in the world was he thinking?!?! Does he not taste his food? And, I can only imagine that our food was sitting in the kitchen waiting for us, but the server was too over worked to get us our food while it was still warm. Considering they are so close to the Bradley Center, they really need to work on staffing properly on nights there are events. And, have a talk with the cook about over salting his food. Just a bad experience overall. And, I wanted it to be so good!

Had lunch there today with a coworker and the place was dead. The construction on the condo and the bridge being out can't be helping them out any. I had the Veggie panini and it was great. Lots of veggies and lots of cheese. The bar fries were a fried a little to long, but otherwise the food was good. Will go back.

Didn't enjoy this experience at all. The back dining area was supposedly booked for a party, so they sat us in the front bar area. The bar was filled with young 20 something boys watching a game, which is fine. The music was turned up to 17 (on a 1-10 scale) so forget about trying to talk to your dining buddy. I ordered the pretzel appetizer while I looked at the menu. The waitress came back saying they were out of pretzels. So we ordered the sampler type platter (minus the pretzel part) and it was okay. Lots of grease. I ordered a bowl of Beer Cheese soup, again, they were out of that as well. I then got the grilled cheese. It was just okay...pretty greasy. My husband ordered the Reuben which was also okay, but the bread had sogged up from grease as well. The waffle fries were inedible as they were so heavily season salted, it was just too much to bear. If you're a college kid that wants to hang with friends, this is the place for you. If you want to good meal, move on.

Horrible service. Ordered a loaded grilled cheese, after an hour it still hadn't come out so they took it off our bill. Once it finally came, It had 2 slices of cheese, half a piece of Bacon, half a slice of tomato. I still had to leave and get pizza down the street. The fries are good-although, a guy at the table next to us said he ordered fries and got some weird type of potato dish (not fries).

Less than knowledgeable staff. Horrible when the staff actually came around. 10 min for a drink and that's with 3 bartenders "working". DO NOT order a bloody. The condiment picks were made at least 24 hours a head of time. Could tell because the cheese, asparagus, and beef stick was 'sour'.

it's a unique bar with chalk board as part of the table. we went there on a saturday afternoon and the place was not very busy during that time. our French Onion soup took more than 15 minutes to make it to our table and it was COLD!!! the soup is more like a broth with some onions with a slice of cheese on the bottom of the bowl. if i am going to pay almost $6 on soup, at least it should not be cold. we sent it back.

Came here for brunch. The Bloodys are fun to look at, with all the food piled onto it was about par. The drink itself was passable, but nothing to write home about. We all ordered various breakfast items... and every single plate was disappointing. Some of the food was burned crispy, other bits were so institutional, they were barely edible. Our server was apathetic, and didn't even try to correct the food problems. There are too many better bars/restaurants within a block of this place. Skip it.

Love coming here. Easily the best bar in Milwaukee! They don't treat you like a customer, but like a guest in their home. I was here this past Sunday night and the two guys working were upbeat and having a great time while work, but the Badgers won so wouldn't be having fun. Easily the best bar with food on 3rd street. Keep up the great work & cant wait to see you guys soon!

I was excited to make a reservation here for Downtown Dining week after hearing about their Wisco burger that had cheese curds in it. They called me two hours before my reservation to tell me that they ran out of food the night before and had to shut the kitchen down. I was really surprised and pretty disappointed, but I still wanted to try it out. Came for dinner with my boyfriend on a Friday night and we got the deep fried bacon for an appetizer. It was really delicious and came with Guiness nacho cheese, which I wasn't a fan of, but my boyfriend loved it. We both got Wisco burgers for our entrees. His fried egg was really runny and made a huge mess but mine was cooked better. Couldn't really taste the components that made the burger unique, like the cheese curds, the deep fried bacon, or the fried egg. There was also lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a lot more so I could barely get my mouth around it, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I had tater tots as my side because I'm always excited when a bar has that on its menu. The drinks were reasonably priced and our waitress was nice. Probably would come back for the bar food.

We came here for Downtown Dinning 2015. The menu had some potential food adventures but most of them fell short. Our favorites are: Mom- the bacon on her burger, sister- cheese curds (ordered off the reg menu at full price), me- my drink. The atmosphere is nice, definitely a bar not a restaurant which can account for the food disapoinments. The service was great, very friendly and enthusiastic. Now back to the food: the amount of the appetizers were limited (one huge and tough jalapeno popper that was ok or a single crab ragoon. Now the size could be due to DTD. The entrées were good. I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich. I usually do not like cold slaw on a bbq sandwich but theirs was ok. I did like the haystack fried onions topping the sandwich but thought there would be more than I had. The bottom half of the bun was so soggy I could not hold the sandwich in my hand and had to eat it with a knife and fork, after removing the bottom half of the bun. Mom's loaded burger was good and sister's fish tacos made with Mali Mali fell short because they tasted more like tuna tacos than anything. The dessert was a fried pb&j sandwich with ice cream. It had potential to be mind blowing but was more like a shoulder shrug. It was very salty and I could not detect any J (jelly) in the sandwich. The deep fried bread was good and it having chocolate sause and ice cream helped the dessert overall but could not save it. Mom's dessert was the smallest piece of cheesecake I've ever seen and sister had 2 mini "cream puffs" that were still frozen and inedible. Overall The Loaded Slate was a disappointment for Downtown Dinning week because I think it reached too high and was not ready for it. I heard a rumor that they had ran out of their DTD menu items earlier this week and had to cancel reservations until they received their delivery. I think I would have enjoyed my food more if it had not been DTD and I just had wanted a good burger and drink in a cool place. There were some nice things that justify it getting 2 stars instead of 0: good service, nice decore, good background music, good burgers and drinks, and location. One last thing, as I was walking out, I noticed that the female servers that I saw all wore short shorts. I don't know if this was their uniform. But it didn't sit well with me.
