A nice healthy option for those healthy minded folks in the public market. This place is a great addition here. They offer a variety of things from numerous sandwiches, salads and options processed fresh from the juicer. I was sold there. Not every meal has fruits and veggies for me so this is a great way of putting healthy things in ya. Plus they taste great. I have been here numerous times but I tend to gravitate towards their green drinks. I make my fruit beverages at home. The concoctions are great. It's a nice refreshing way to caress your palette with all sorts of vitamins and whatnot. Feeling run down? Partying the night before? Just want to stay healthy? This is (IMO) the way to go. Gives me a nice little boost and they taste great. That's half the battle. One day i will try their sandwiches and salads which look great but for now I am visiting them for my juice kick!

I get a salad at The Green Kitchen at least 3 times per week as my office is around the corner and this is a great healthy option during lunch time. The people running this fabulous place are so friendly and always greet me by my first name. I was even lucky enough one day to get a free salad because "you come here so much." They sure do know how to keep customers loyal. My favorite part about The Green Kitchen is that salads are priced at a flat rate. I can have one topping on my salad or 15...it's always the same price. The juice bar is also quite nice. I have only had 1 beverage thus far but do intend to try the others.

I enjoyed this place for a quick lunch in the Public Market building. The counter service for salads, smoothies and sandwiches is friendly and efficient. The food is outstanding.

The best wrap I've ever had! It was the Asian Chicken Wrap. Super busy Saturday (usually I know better!) and they were hopping but were able to get their food out quickly. Very neat, clean, and organized. Will definitely go back.

The Green Kitchen offers custom-made salads, fresh juices, sandwiches, and wraps. Likes: - offers vegetarian and vegan options; I believe they have two vegetarian sandwich options and one vegan; they also have vegan dressings - $7.50 for half a sandwich and a side salad - you can see how they make the juices - salads can be custom-made I used to really like this place until I saw cans of artichoke hearts in their shelves. Makes you rethink if the foods really are fresh.

One of my favorite places for lunch in Milwaukee! The sandwiches are delicious and fresh, and the service is pretty speedy for the lunchtime rush. Although prices are on par with what the other vendors charge, I still find it unsettling that I have to pay about $12 for a sandwich, drink and chips. I'd love to try their juices, but I don't want to spend close to $20 for lunch. However, knowing they use local ingredients is comforting. Unlike a few other reviewers have commented, I haven't found the staff to be so much rude as they are just indifferent. They have a job to do and they're working as fast as possible. I highly recommend this place; more than once I've had to save half my sandwich for later due to its size.

Want to eat healthy in the Third Ward, then this is your place! From salads and sandwiches to fresh juices, Green Kitchen has you covered! Just make sure you follow the ordering signs or you will never get to order. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is there is no nutritional information available. Some of their juices are overly sweet and it would be good to know the sugar level before ordering.

This place makes you never want to put another "bad" food item into your body again. I love their fresh juice bar. They make something similar to what I make at home with wheat-grass, cucumber, apples, lime.. I don't know what else they put in it theirs... but it was sooo good. I also had the Mediterranean veggie sandwich that had kalamata olive spread and hummus. It was very satisfying. After eating that sandwich, I ate nothing but veggie sandwiches for lunch for a week. So proud to have a restaurant like this in Milwaukee! Only negative I have to mention is that they do not have their own seating. It's difficult at MPM space wise, but most restaurants there do have there own bar or seating area of some kind. Green Kitchen has a couple stools right in the aisle, which can feel very crowded.

Accurately rated. The food is fantastic. The service even better. The only down side is their lunch rush. Easily overcome by ordering through Flavor cycle , the bicycle delivery service that guarantees your food to arrive in the same condition it left the restaurant. Great for conference room meetings

I echo what everyone says about the Green Kitchen. What a fun new discovery thanks to Yelp! I just went for lunch with my aunt and we had a great time. We both ordered sandwiches that were freshly made, had fresh ingredients and overall were awesome. Too often these days it seems that restaurants try to cut corners with ingredients and its refreshing to see that The Green Kitchen doesn't. The one thing I would caution people about is that if you're a soda drinker like me, there is no soda here. You'll have to patron one of the other finer establishments for a soda. So glad we went. Thanks fellow Yelpers!

Whilst in Milwaukee, the Public Market is a must... or so I hear from Rachel F. A salad sounded about right for lunch, so I ordered a salad that came with mixed greens, beets, herbed goat cheese, walnuts, chicken and a pomegranate acai vinaigrette (I opted to get this on the side, with another side of balsamic vinaigrette to try them both). The salad was fresh, tasty and the regular size was plenty big for me. I ended up loving both the dressings so I kinda switched off bites. The balsamic was perfectly tangy and savory, while the pomegranate acai was sweeter and actually had a cinnamon flavor to it. It was very interesting. The only (hopefully constructive) criticism is that the goat cheese was mostly in one big lump and the chicken was lacking in flavor and abundance. You can also DIY your salads and hot and cold sandwiches, but the amount of options are almost overwhelming so I liked that there were a few creative, non-DIY options on the menu so I could be lazy. The Green Kitchen also has what looks to be a rockin' juice bar, though I didn't partake. They've got everything from fresh carrot and pear juice to wheatgrass shots. All colorful and healthy! The service was friendly, but the layout is mighty confusing because the sandwich counter and the salad counter each have their own ordering line. The separate counters and menus are quite far apart too. If I had bothered to look over at the sandwiches, I might have gone with a sandwich/salad combo, but again... so lazy.

I love this place. I like to stop there whenever I'm in the neighborhood on a bike ride or whatnot for a shot of wheatgrass or a nice salad with fresh organic ingredients. This places does not charge you an arm and a leg for Wheatgrass, and if you've never had a shot of wheatgrass give it a chance. The only thing is, I feel sorry for the poor person making the juice, it looks like a lot of work! This place is like the Whole Foods salad bar, only someone is actually making your salad. Probably a little bit cheaper than WF though. A wonderful pit-stop to get fresh and feel good. Again, Milwaukee needs for places like this. Believe me, I don't want Milwaukee turning into California, but a couple more Green Kitchens wouldn't be a bad thing.

Milwaukee Public Market's green gem (emerald?)! Tasty, fresh, whole food. Awesome juices made to order. My favorite is a make-your-own salad with their home made balsamic dressing and a "Green Giant" smoothie (green apple, cucumber, lime, and wheat grass). Bathrooms: clean (part of Milwaukee Public Market) Service: awesome. sometimes a little busy during lunch hour. The owner is almost always on site. Price: okay, it's a little pricey. It's lettuce and dressing, not Kobe beef. Why not 5 stars? I wish they had a vegan sandwich option.

Had a poor experience trying to get juice here today. When I used to live in Milwaukee, I would frequent the Green Kitchen for juices at lunchtime, always ordering of the menu and satisfied with the service and juice. But today, back home for the holiday, I stopped in to get a veggie juice to ward off my oncoming cold. I've been juicing at home and wanted them to recreate one of my favorites, and was happy when they said they could do custom juices. But when I explained I wanted a pretty basic combo with mostly cucumber and ginger, they refused any low sugar combinations, citing the need for a sugary base. Since they continued to refuse my request, I left without a juice. This was not an issue with the product, as the juices I've gotten have been fine. But the girl behind the counter obviously didn't know what she was talking about and gave poor customer service.

I love this place. It's fresh. It's tasty. It has an awesome variety of juices, salads and sandwiches. This is a go to for people who live and work in the 3rd ward area, or visit the Milwaukee Public Market. Want a tiny side salad made to order? You got it! The options for making your own salad are endless, or you can choose from one of their own creations. Feel a cold coming on? Stop by and grab a cup of freshly squeezed juice to knock the sick right out of you. This is a very popular spot at lunchtime, and the line can be quite lengthy, but it moves quickly and is worth the wait! A wonderful and healthy alternative to the normal Milwaukee restaurant scene.

The Green Kitchen is a lunch staple for me. I personally love the fresh juices. Several of the juice drinks contain wheat grass shots and others like the Red Roxie are more vegetable based (contains beet juice). There's a salad bar where they will make a salad with items of your choice. They have a wide variety of both dressings and salad ingredients and will sometimes have salad suggestions posted if you're feeling indecisive. They also offer hot and cold sandwiches. My personal favorites include the herbed goat cheese and portabella panini as well as the classic turkey which includes Marscapone cheese, sundries tomato pesto, and spinach. They get VERY busy at lunch time with lines that wrap around the corner. Would suggest trying to come before 11:30 if possible. I gave it 5 stars based on other health conscious veggie friendly small places I've been to.

  • Rachel K.

This is always a go-to destination when I am downtown Milwaukee. It's the only place in town with such an amazing selection of fresh fruit & vegetable juices. Red Roxie is my favorite! I find the sandwiches are hit or miss, so I usually stick with a juice and occasionally get a salad. They have a great variety of salad ingredients and toppings. I love that they charge you by size and not by pound.

I got a hot turkey sandwich here and it was both huge and awesome. The toasted ciabatta had a very good flavor and was nice and crispy on the outside, really liked this bread. Ingredients were fresh. The sandwich was large enough that I was able to eat it twice. Service was OK. I'll be back.

The fresh-squeezed juices here are great. Specifically, the Green Dream (apple, spinach, celery, and ginger) is exactly what I needed after a weekend of over-indulgence. Tasty!

An impulse detour led my husband I to the Milwaukee Public Market one rainy morning. While I have to admit we went for the pectin jelly beans at the Kehr's counter (yum) I couldn't help stopping at The Green Kitchen. The juice bar menu called out to me. The morning cup of joe buzz had worn off long ago (the weather didn't help much either) but the Chai Pear juice was the boost I needed. Note it has ginger in it - so you should be a fan if you order it. I am and expect the little tangy burn fresh ginger will give you. It was the perfect balance of fresh pears, apples, ginger, honey and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Friendly service, a clean work space and a great variety of fresh ingredients made me wish I had more in the budget. One of their tasty sandwiches or salads is in my near future. You can eat in their space or take it upstairs to the airy public seating area and people watch.

The star rating on this one is a bit tricky. I have been to the Green Kitchen a few times now. Each time for a salad and juice. The salad and juice itself it pretty tasty, but the service really needs some tweaking. The first time I was there I stood at the end of the counter while the two employees behind the counter talked with, what seemed to be an off-duty employee, about a bowling league, her pay check and hours she worked. After a few minutes, and some harsh glares from those of us at the end of the counter I was able to get some service. I don't quite understand though why I have to order my salad at one end, and then wait until the salad is made and walk over to the register to order my juice, when the juice takes twice as long to make. I often find myself standing for an extended amount of time waiting for the juice I ordered. The employees always seem to be frazzled about something. Most likely because the place isn't run very efficiently. Fix the service and the entire experience will be better for both customers and employees.

I was really disappointed with this place. The juice was great, but the salad I ordered tasted like none of the vegetables had been washed. I ended up throwing it away it was so chemical-ly.

This place is a stall within Milwaukee public market. I am sure to visit every time i'm in Milwaukee. The smoky tempeh wrap and red roxie juice are to die for!

Does your stomach need a break from beer, brats and deep fried cheese curds? This fresh "fast food" spot is everything you're looking for! Vegetarian and vegan options if you're on the go. That's right: I said vegan. YAY!!! I got the veggie collard green wrap, with sunflower seed spread, avocado, tomatoes, beets, onions, carrots and sprouts. I assume this qualifies as raw vegan. Ate half and finished the rest the next day -- and it was still fresh and delicious! Sort of wish the juices came in bigger sizes though ...

    (5)
  • Annie S.

This was the perfect stop for lunch after a week of being back in Wisco drinking beer and eating cheese curds! : ) The prices are very fair. Husband got a wrap and my father and I got salads. They definitely do not skimp on the veggies! You can pick from sizes: side (very large still), regular (perfect for a salad only lunch), and large (perfect for two meals). The fresh pressed juices were so good! Definitely worth it but I'd recommend asking for ice with it to give it a crisp taste. All the workers were sweet and sincerely helpful. Thank goodness for this place!

I got the biggest, best-tasting wrap of my life at The Green Kitchen last night. It was ENORMOUS. I got a veggie wrap with turkey (I know, I know -- it makes no sense), and it was the size of my bicep (which is also huge), and it looked like a Jimmy John's sub with extra meat. It was that big. Anyway, everything about the wrap was perfection, and I can't wait to go there and order it again. But it's so big that I'll probably have to split it with someone else!

  • Jen K.

My coworker got me hooked on The Green Kitchen, and I'm so glad she did because their Asian Wrap is to die for. It's fresh, tangy, crunchy, and slightly sweet. I find myself craving it every week, and probably getting one as soon as I finish this review. They make their juices right in front of you, so you know you're getting the good stuff. My favorite is their Obango (orange, banana, mango) and Red Rooster (apple, beet, lime, strawberry). The Chai Pear (pear, apple, ginger, honey, cinnamon) is a close second. Perhaps it's coincidental, but after drinking these suckers for the past couple months, my late afternoon caffeine crashes have subsided so that's a plus. The staff is friendly, and extremely efficient. They're constantly moving, while maintaining a smile when dealing with not-so-pleasant customers. Kudos to them. They use fresh ingredients, so I never feel lethargic after eating here. It's also a hot spot in the Public Market, and rightfully so, so there's usually a line. However, I'm always in and out in less than ten minutes. The Green Kitchen's pretty great, and I recommend any one who wants some vitamins in their diet to go eat here. Okay, okay, I'm going to get my Asian Wrap now.

This is my second time here and I loving it even more. I had the pearadise salad again and order number 11 sandwich, simple amazing! Chicken breast on a perfectly made panini with mozzarella cheese, pesto sauce and urugula....I also tried the super green juice... Fantastic!!

The first time I visited Milwaukee Public Market I saw a woman ordering a giant, glorious salad from The Green Kitchen and it has been one of my favorite counters to walk by since. Their selection of toppings is so bright and delicious looking that it is hard to resist ordering a $12 salad on the spot. However, despite The Green Kitchen's colorful and nutritious display, I am a reluctant salad lover so I had only ordered their sandwiches before, until recently when I ordered a salad for the first time. I made a few mistakes. I was at MPM around lunch time so the line was five people deep and the staff was pumping out salads at top speed. High pressure ordering situations like this stress me out (I'm working on it) so I made a last minute decision to order a salad from their specials list instead of choosing my own toppings, even though that is what I was so excited about in the first place! The salad maker put chickpeas on the salad instead of chicken but graciously, if not a little reluctantly added chicken upon my request. I got a regular ($9.50) although I would have been well served with a side ($6.50), salad leftovers are a hard sell for me once they've hit the fridge. Anyways, salad-ordering virgin mistakes aside, the salad was excellent and I will definitely go back. If you're taking a group to MPM, grab a salad to share along with your other treats and, if you dare, choose your own toppings! I will next time.

Recently this has become my fav spot for grabbing a sandwich before doing some studying downtown. I've tried the #11 and the #13 and they are both excellent choices. It's all about the ciabatta bread that they make the hot sandwiches with. When it comes off the panini press you get a great crunchy exterior with a fluffy interior. The ingredients taste fresh, they have sprouts (major plus for me), and the sandwiches are big for a reasonable price ($8). I've still been meaning to try some of their juices which seem to be really popular. Their salad bar has a nice selection of ingredients but I haven't had a chance to make one yet. The wait can be a little long, especially on weekends, but that gives you some time to walk around and explore the rest of the public market and all of its offerings.

I like the Green Kitchen - especially the option to build-your-own sandwiches and salads. (I'm a bit of a control freak) Most recently, I grabbed a "Cold Killer" juice which combines fresh squeezed citrus, ginger, wheatgrass and honey. I can't say it cured me, but it was absolutely tasty and I did feel better after drinking it. I've also enjoyed salads from here too and felt like the portions were fairly generous with lots of options to pick from. In terms of price point, I'd agree with others that Green Kitchen isn't "cheap" but I am okay paying a bit extra for fresh, healthy options. On the minus side, the staff seems to range from "disinterested" to "downright hostile".

Custom is key here. Make your own juice, salad, wrap or sandwich. They have a number of sandwich options ready to order, both hot and cold varieties. Literally, numbered. # 1-15. They are large. So large that I am typically full after eating half of one. There are a few seasonal salad combos, otherwise you're on your own to choose your favorite ingredients and dressing. Three sizes available to choose the amount of greens and other veggies you're into at the time. Lots of juice options with fun names, or again create your own potion. Watch as your fruits are juiced right in front of you! Allow some time when you come here, as the Green Kitchen has a line during lunch and dinner rushes. If you opt for a panini, you will need to wait a few extra minutes no matter what time of day. My faves on the menu? Red Roxie and the newer Super Green juices, number 11, Awesome Avocado, and seasonal veggie salads.

It was like a high quality Subway for salads. Everything looked and tasted very fresh. The dressings were good and the staff was helpful. Free easy parking right outside the door they are near.

  • David S.

This places spins a pretty mean lunch time salad and doesn't skimp on the best parts of the salad... The other stuff besides lettuce. Add that they have a commercial juices and make some of the typical 'juice' combinations on the menu. There really aren't that many places in Milwaukee that have juices to order. Solid 4 stars.

  • Jamie P.

Their produce is always fresh and on bar, but the customer service here is usually lacking. Today was discouraging for me because they would not cater to my gluten allergy. I asked for a side salad and half sandwich (the special) on gluten free bread/wrap/lettuce whatever they have, and they said they do not do gluten free with the half sandwiches. In addition to this, I noted that the cost of a side salad went from $5.45 to $6.95. Considering the size of the salad, this is slightly absurd. You can get it for 3.99, however you only get 2 additional ingredients which is hardly worth it. I highly doubt this place is losing money based on the amount of customers I see their daily so I don't understand why they had to cheapen their quantity and higher their already high prices. I will choose another place at the market next time.

Get the Fall Harvest salad. Omg! So tasty! I also got the super green juice which would have been great had I not been eating such an amazing salad. In comparison it was just ok.

Best place in the Milwaukee Public Market! Their tempeh sandwich is fantastic. Be sure to bring your appetite as their sandwiches are huge! This is definitely my go to place for lunch when in the Third Ward. Space is tight when ordering and waiting for your food. The service is always great. One of the best sandwiches in the city.

This is in the Public Market. I just went once and had a great asian wrap, but you can see that their build-your-own salads and sandwiches are tops. A dream place for the vegetarian or anyone who thinks a lot about the quality of their food. You can get a glass of wine to go with it at the Wine Thief a few feet away, also in the Public Market.

I work in the Third Ward, and I know how disgustingly busy it gets on the weekends. I was having busy day at my service job, so I came to The Green Kitchen to get a juice for me and a salad for my coworker. The lines aren't confusing. They're very clearly marked. I ordered my coworker's salad, it was whipped up extremely quickly, and looked fantastic. They mix the salads exceptionally well, and ask if you'd like the dressing mixed in or on the side. Important details, here. I moved to the register, paid, and the guy behind the counter warned me it would be a 5-10 minute wait for the juice. I appreciated the heads up, but didn't mind at all. But the girl working the juicer is really who the five stars are for. This girl was absolutely killing it. With people coming up and repeatedly complaining about where their drinks were, she stayed impressively focused and was churning out juices as fast as possible. I got a Red Rooster at the recommendation of the guy at the register, and it was great. I had to wait a while, but it's 100% worth it. There are places to buy remade products if you're not willing to wait for fresh-pressed juices or hand-tossed salads. There is no reason to hate on this establishment for the chaos that is the Public Market during busy hours. Props to everyone here, from one service worker to another.

  • Lesley W.

I go here for lunch all the time, and there's a definite reason there's always a line -- it's really good! The sandwiches are great -- I especially appreciate the fact that they have such a wide vegetarian selection and vegan options, and that there are both hot and cold choices. The salads are surprisingly filling. I'm partial to the awesome avocado (although it bothers me that you have to specifically request avocado and it's an extra $1) -- it always feels like a meal. And the made-to-order juice is awesome! Most of their staff is very friendly and the lines move fast, so it's definitely worth the short wait if you're dining at the Public Market.

I've been here twice in the past week it's so good. I've gotten the buffalo chicken salad both times and it hasn't disappointed yet. I'm not a huge salad eater so that says a lot.

I can barely go to the Milwaukee Public Market without getting a super fresh healthy juice at the Green Kitchen. Even though I also often get their warm paninis, that might not be the healthiest....I still sort of feel like they're healthy, and that's fine by me. I probably should opt for their salads more often, since they have so many veggies that I normally don't have in my house, but luckily I live close, so there's still time. Staff is friendly, and often allows me to add other ingredients into the juices I order. I have gotten the Red Rooster a few times (I think there are apples, beets, strawberries...and something else in there) but they let me add celery, spinach, wheatgrass if they have it. The idea that I am drinking something so nutritious makes me really happy. To me, the juices feel like they are totally worth the $4.77 they come to after tax.

One of the foodie highlights on my trip to Milwaukee was the Chai Pear juice from Green Kitchen. Great list of salads and sandwiches but what we had were the juices. Delicious juice combos of fruits and veggies. Love it, a definite stop again when I return. Juice: 5/5 Food: ? Didnt have any! Service: 4/5 Location: 5/5 The Milwaukee Public Market is the best and my favorite!

There's probably something for everyone here at the public market. Healthy! Not healthy! Sweet and savory! Fresh fish. Groceries. Knick-knacks, candy and more! Perfect place for lunch. Free parking in the rear.

The wife loves her some fresh fruit & vegetable juice, hence the double-down check-in at Green Kitchen in the Milwaukee Public Market. The first time there was a turn-off, as the wait was unseasonably long despite an utter devoid of a line. Drinks range in the $4 to $6 zone, which isn't too bad considering my inability to get used to Chicago prices. The drinks were decent, with more emphasis on the fruit than on the vegetable. The wife did dig it enough to go back for round 2, trying the Chai Pear the first time (pear, apple, ginger, honey, cinnamon), followed by a Pink Flamingo (orange, grapefruit, pineapple, strawberry). It must be fun to name juice drinks. One other small annoyance: the cover on top is the bad bubble tea style, a domed roof conducive to spillage.

  • Rose D.

Having only been here once and tried just one thing I will stick with 3 stars. I had their Chai Pear juice and it was delicous! It has a bit of honey, cinnamon & ginger in there to give it some spicy-sweet goodness. They were pretty busy at lunchtime on a Saturday when we were there, though, so I had to wait about 5 minutes in line to order and another 5 minutes for my drink.

It pains me to give this wonderful place such a poor rating. The food is great, the sandwiches are fantastic and the fresh juices are lovely ways to refresh oneself after a long day at work or on a lunch break. That being said, I have never been somewhere that has so much to offer food wise, and then absolutely no customer service. Look, I work in retail. Customer service is huge for me. They were rude, acted as if they were being bothered when I was ordering and then were snotty when it came to actually giving me my food. The worst part is, I've gone there more than a few times now, and there's a specific group that behaves this way. I've had the nicest guy help me before, but every time I go and these particular employees are working, its a terrible experience. And quite frankly, its just not worth it. There are quite a few other places in the area that are better and have much better/consistent customer service.

I've eaten here a few times, and it's always good. Yesterday, I had the Monterey Chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic. The olive tapenade added a good punch of flavor to the sandwich. The quality of the ingredients they use could't be better, and the sandwiches are huge. A great value for around $8. I haven't tried their juice bar, but I've heard good things.

This place is located in the Public Market and near my work so I often like to frequent it for lunch. The sandwiches are fresh and delicious - they have many offerings to choose from - all with awesome combinations of flavors. I just love how fresh everything tastes not to mention that you can obviously watch them making your sandwich to know it is in deed fresh :) In the winter, when I am sick I like to come over and get a tasty green juice with all sorts of healthy cold-killing ingredients. Whether it actually helps or not is a moot point, it certainly makes me feel like I am combating my cold. If you work downtown or in the 3rd Ward, pop by for lunch. If you are around on a summer evening take it to one of the tables outside or along the riverwalk and enjoy Milwaukee for awhile.

I end up here at least once a week, usually more, as my boss drinks the Green Dream almost as often as his med nonfat Starbucks lattes. Thankfully, they've got options available for us non-juicers. The salads options are great. Same price across the board based on size, and a huge selection of options to build to taste. Sandwiches don't have as much flexibility (because this isn't subway) but they've got very solid options. The egg salad is a pretty solid choice. The service team is always friendly, and genuinely helpful and never seem like they don't want to be there. The only knock is over the juice consistency. I've had four different juices made in four days by four different people. Each one of them did it a little differently, and my boss, detailed as he is, has commented that it's typically good, but never tastes the same day to day.

So here's the transcript: Green Kitchen: Hello, Green Kitchen. How can I help you? Me: Hi. I'd like to place an order for delivery. GK: For when did you want it? Me: Um, well, as soon as possible? GK: I'm not sure we can because it's the middle of the lunch hour. Usually you can place orders by 11 or so. Hold on. I'll talk to the manager. GK: Hello. I'm sorry but we can't. Me: Wow.... GK: Thank you. Goodbye. ...at which point the person hung up on me. Just like that. I get it. You're busy. But when you say you deliver lunch, you deliver lunch, right? This restaurant states on their website that they deliver. They post a menu with our local delivery company Flavorcycle. They just lost 50$ (5 hungry people), and all of our future company lunch orders as well. I have no idea what the food is like. Wish I did. So, thank you, Green Kitchen, and goodbye. Click!

I ordered the pear salad. I don't even remember what it's called but I can't stop thinking about it. It's amazing, delicious, and filling. Go order it and thank me later.

One of many eateries inside the market. Get the Pesto Wrap! It ranks up there with one of the best wraps I've had the pleasure of consuming. ;)

I have to admit, I may have a slight addiction to their #15. Ahhhh, just thinking about it, I get a little rumble in my tummy. Check it: smokey tempeh, avocado, spinach, tomato, red onion, and Vegenaise on toasted ciabatta!!! How could you NOT love that?? I finally broke out and tried another vegan item: the veggie wrap, and went full-blast raw food and got it wrapped in collard leaves!! This is a nice gluten free option, as well as one for you low carb freaks (kidding, i love you) out there too. I'm still trying to work up to tried the third vegan sammie, which has hummus and olive tapanade? and some veggies? It sounds pretty great, but is it #15 great?? I can only eat so many sandwiches!! And 75% are going to be the tempeh. That's just science. They also sell Dirty Chips, which are some of the best potato chips in the biz, IMHO. I try to resist, but I cave about 50% of the time. Apparently they make custom salads, but the line for them is always around the block so I haven't tried them yet. Protip: go before 11:45 or after 1:30 to avoid the massive crowds that flock to this place!!

This place almost sounds like it would be a Cheech and Chong style bakery of "medical consumables", but they serve salads, juice and all around healthy eats. Speaking of which, I wish I could have dined here, given I enjoy a good salad, but I came here perfectly stuffed off of half of a Classic Slice large pizza. That being said, it didn't stop me from enjoying some juice from this establishment. I'm a juice freak, and when I saw a long list of juices, I instantly perked up. I went up and down the list, narrowing down my selections until I went with the Orange, Pineapple, Lime. This blend made TGK my spot for juice in the city. Wonderfully tangy. My wife had the lemonade, and if it's not fresh squeezed, I'd be very surprised. The perfect mix of sweet and sour. Speaking of sweet, the girls here are friendly and quick to serve or answer questions.

I don't know if this place has changed management and/or staff since last summer, but it's been downhill in 2014. They have good, healthy food choices. Until recently, the sandwiches have been consistently good. The last couple times I've ordered, there's an inconsistency to the fare. (Too much or little of certain ingredients. The hot sandwiches sit on the counter for a few minutes before being served, which defeats the purpose of a hot sandwich in my opinion.) The final straw is the poor customer service. I stood by the counter for about 3 minutes waiting to be served. I finally told them I would like to order. They realized I was with somebody and packed our order together, even though we ordered separately. They did not mark which sandwich was which. A friendly greeting and/or a smile can go a long way. I got neither. There are several places to eat in the Public Market, and since I'm not a juice fan, this establishment, which used to be my vendor of choice, is now off my list thanks to the poor customer service and inconsistent fare.

Right when you enter from the north side of the building (parking lot entrance) you'll see the Green Kitchen. Perfect for those looking to grab a sandwich to go or a smoothie as a healthy option. I've had to opportunity to try a few of the different sandwiches and my favorite by far is the #11 - chicken, tomato, mozzarella, pesto, ciabatta bread. Each sandwich yields a large portion and could act solo as a meal. Similar experience to others, you may have to wait depending on the time and the line (grilling the ciabatta takes longer than other grilled sandwiches). I'm not sure if others have had experience with this - I love the pesto sauce, but every time I always find that it is a little too rich for my stomach. Might be helpful to ask them to go light on the pesto. Plus you'll avoid ridiculous garlic breath. And that's always a plus. My first time at The Green Kitchen, I couldn't decide what I wanted and since it nearing the end of the night, not many customers in line, the woman making my sandwich was kind enough to mix and match two sandwiches without asking. Normally I wouldn't be okay with this, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure she would have given me the option of a different sandwich if it was really a problem.

Descriptive phrase: quick, fresh, and delicious sandwich shop. The Green Kitchen is located in the Milwaukee Public Market, now please pardon me while I drool a bit... There are so many options in MPM, but I decided on The Green Kitchen because the workers looked happy and the food displayed looked fresh. While you can get scratch-made salads, I opted for the Balsamic Chicken hot sandwich ($6.95). Sweet baby jeebus, I don't think I've had a better sandwich in Milwaukee yet. Chicken, Monterrey jack cheese, roasted red pepper, spinach, and tomato on a crispy and warm panini bread drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. While the main ingredients would work together anyway, it's their balsamic that really solidifies this sandwich as drool-worthy. Every bite is a bit tangy, a bit juicy, and super fresh. When I stop by for lunch again at the Milwaukee Public Market, I'll head straight to The Green Kitchen.

I'm giving them two stars and that's generous, because I know they can do better...Lately, it seems like every time I patronize this establishment they aren't meeting expectations and it's not the food - the salads are fresh and lovely- it is really about service or maybe the lack of attention to detail. For a while last year, they had some pretty mean and nasty salad baristas, who seemed to want to be anywhere but there serving up salads. In the last 6 months or so - they have hired a better group of folks. They are friendly and greet me when I walk up to the counter rather than just asking me what I want. And they don't give me the stink eye while I am deciding on my toppings. So what was the two star issue? Today I ordered a regular sized (8.95) avocado salad and had to pay $1.00 extra for the what was only 3 pieces of avocado - about 1'x2' in size.. If a restaurant calls a salad an avocado salad - that implies that the avocado is INCLUDED. My $1.00 paid for 3 tiny blobs of brownish gray avocado that was practically mush - very disappointing and totally cheap on the part of management. Next, they were out of wheatgrass, the main ingredient of my favorite drink, the Cold Killer. They offered to make it using spinach and they discounted the drink a bit for my trouble. The lady at the counter - really sold me on the substitution by saying that the spinach had a lot of iron in it and that I probably wouldn't notice too much of a difference. What I received was not a Cold Killer - it was a 1/4 cup of honey- way, way too much honey, spinach and orange juice. So either they missed the ginger - the second main ingredient or they were out. The ultra sugary, $5.00 drink was impossible to consume - I wound up tossing it out. I may take a break from eating there for a while. I usually pop in a couple of times a week, days like today are making me second guess my continued loyalty.

This is my go to place for salads in the city, not to mention I love the public market so it's perfect. Love the fresh ingredients and amazing dressings. I have heard amazing things about their wraps. This place has plenty for the vegan/vegetarian crowd but also tons of proteins for the meat-eaters out there too. I wish they cut their tomatoes smaller but other than that this place is close to perfection.

As I mentioned in a previous review, I am on a wellness plan called "Eat to Live" which means I'm eating vegan and oil free for the next 6 weeks. Awesome, right? Well it is to some extent because I'm making positive choices with my diet, but it also SUCKS because it severely limits where I can eat out. That is where Green Kitchen comes in! Its located downtown within walking distance of my job, the food is FRESH and tasty, and you walk away satisfied, even though all you have had is veggies and all natural ingredients. The salad bar is plentiful and you can really find pretty much anything, well, within reason at least. I had spring greens topped with about 7 different veggies, black beans, and the most flavorful Chipotle Lime dressing. The dressing, which is made there, really added a kick of flavor to the salad that I wasn't expecting, but really enjoyed. In the past, the tempeh wrap has been my go to sandwich. Smokey tempeh ( a soybean product), veganaise, avocado, and tomato wrapped up in a spinach wrap. Super hearty and filling, and you don't even realize its vegan! The prices aren't the cheapest, but you are getting fresh, quality food that you can feel good about eating, and I'm all for that!

The Green Kitchen is one of my favorite lunch spots in the Public Market. You can come here hundreds of times and never, ever get the same thing. All of the ingredients are outstandingly fresh. The sandwiches are very well crafted - try the Classic Turkey (which is totally deserves a much better name than "Classic), with Mascarpone cheese, tomato pesto, spinach and tomato. Yum! For a little something special, get the Chai Pear juice - honey, cinnamon, ginger, pear and apple. I mean... what's not to love? I could drink this every day. And the salad bar is my favorite ever. So many different options - om nom nom nom nom. (I will say this - if you are coming for lunch during the week, know what you want. The gals behind the counter move fast (for good reason) and don't have time for you to contemplate life. Get in, get out, get good, fresh food.)

Had the #7 sandwich and it was amazingly delicious. The #7 is herbed goat cheese, red peppers, shiitake, and spinach. It was served hot on fresh ciabatta bread. The only qualms I have is the service was very slow (around 15 minute wait) and the layout is confusing. A lot of people didn't know where to stand or pick up their sandwiches. I didn't have any of juices, but they seemed to be extremely popular. But I can attest to the delicious, large sandwich I had. Not bad for the price!

During my weekday lunchtime visit, the staff seemed to be working very well in conjunction to take and get orders out. On a whim I tried the Chai pear juice drink, with ginger, apple, cinnamon, pear and honey, and it was practically an "apple pie filling" party in my mouth! I also had their Waldorf chicken salad sandwich. The sandwich was big, and the multigrain bread was very soft and moist.

Ate here yesterday and today for lunch! Had the number 11 yeaterday, the number 12 today! Sandwiches are huge! I split mine with my 15 year old. The ingredients were fresh, the chicken was tender. Really a deicious sandwich. We are probably going to eat here again before we leave Milwaukee! Staff was very efficient, but you will wait for your food, lines are pretty long.

Shockingly, I am giving another five star review. However, I feel that The Green Kitchen deserves it. Plus, I love Milwaukee Public Market. I walked up to the counter and asked for the best healthy wrap they had. The guy working was extremely friendly, and took the time to explain to me what tempeh was. He also told me about his favorite wrap and how he makes it, so I ordered his recommendation. It was a wrap with tempeh, avocado, lettuce, tomato (supposed to simulate a BLT) and sunflower seed spread instead of the mayo. It was amazing. I bit into it and literally couldn't handle how much delicious flavor was in my mouth. The wrap was huge, too - I couldn't finish more than half. I feel that this justifies the $7 price, because I'll be having the other half for lunch tomorrow. Overall, speedy and friendly service. And I got to walk around the market. I wanna go back and try their juice... and their salads, and their sandwiches. OM NOM.

I love this place. Their buffalo chicken salad is my favorite and the cold killer. The reason I have 3 stars is strictly for the poor customer service that ive received multiple times from the same 2 girls. If you go 1 minute after 7 on tuesday (they are supposed to be open until 8), you will not get service. I stood at the counter for 3 minutes while the two girls stood with their back to me. They finally gave each other a look, sighed, and told me that they were closed. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened. I asked why because I knew they were supposed to be open until 8 and they responded with a snippy 'we are cleaning'. Aren't you supposed to do that after you have served customers?

I went here for lunch during my trip to Wisconsin. It's an awesome vegetarian station inside the Milwaukee Public Market. I ordered the regular salad and I was very pleased with the portion size. The price was very reasonable and their menu selection was very nice. I just wish they offer tofu or mock meats. However even though it doesn't offer those items, this is still a very good place.

I enjoyed my sandwich, # 11 if I recall, and found half to be enough to satisfy my hunger. They're made to share! Awesome :) The line organization is confusing but I suppose that can't be helped what with the mild chaos that is maneuvering through the Public Market. Nice kids behind the counter. Good times.

The Green Kitchen is one of the many varied and fantastic kiosks in the Milwaukee Public Market. The Green Kitchen has salads, hot and cold sandwiches... you can also build your own in either department. I like the cold veggie sandwich with both the hummus and the olive tapanade. Yesss. (I've never been brave enough to build my own anything. I'm not that good at decision-making.) The Green Kitchen is vegetarian friendly, although they have carnivorous options such as turkey and chicken available for said salads and sandwiches. The Green Kitchen makes fresh to order juice. I like the apple/pear/ginger/honey juice. Yum. So so good. The Green Kitchen is a cute little spot in the market with healthy options that exist as alternative to the damn lobster roll I always want from St. Paul. Also, I can justify the dessert bar from C. Adams Bakery right across the way if I have a salad. My logic is infallible.

Like Heather C., I am conflicted on the star rating. I ordered the tuna sandwich on multi-grain bread with cheddar cheese and toasted. I had was definitely a 5 in flavor and quality. My only complaint is that it could have been on the grill/press longer to give the cheese a chance to melt. I was concerned about the dill, but it was just a hint. Yummy. Best thing I ate all weekend. I was so full after, but I wanted to be able to eat another one. The staff was friendly and efficient. Why 3 stars pray tell? $10.63 Tuna Sandwich + vitamin water. What was that? You paid over $10 for a tuna sandwich and a colored water at a food stand?! Yes, that's what I thought, too. Last time I checked, MKE public market is not in an airport. That is the only place where a tuna sandwich is an astronomical $10.

Honestly loving the wraps and juices here. A slight screw up on the order - but instead of checking with the individual that took my order or the manager, the lady just made my juice by trusting my word. Great service, delicious juices, and healthy food! Definitely get your greens here.

The sandwiches are around $7-8, but are really big. They have a good menu variety with salads, wraps and juices...lots of options for veggies too. The wraps are yummy. Be prepared for a wait during lunch hour. It's not the best option if you are short on time.

They must buy greens by the truckload from Growing Power. I like that they use local sources as much as possible. I've only had the salads but all the produce is always of the best quality. They'd totally be five-stars but even after expanding their size, the lines get incredibly long, even late into lunch. While every salad is made-to-order, it just seems odd to wait 10 minutes for something so simple.

I was visiting Milwaukee, and actually heard of this place searching for Vegetarian on Yelp, and I was very impressed!! I got a vegan wrap of some sort-it was wrapped in a giant leaf of some sort, and full of avocado, greens, delicious rich sunflower seed spread, and seasoned tempeh. It was extremely flavorful and rich for a vegan wrap, and held together surprisingly well in whatever sort of leaf it was wrapped in. I also got some sort of ginger/lemon/honey cold buster fresh juice which was amazing! And the whole Public Market this place is inside of is an excellent place to wander around and shop.

I love this place and think about it all the time. I am in love with their salads. A HUGE variety of ingredients--including shaved fresh beets that are delicious--topped off by their hot honey mustard dressing makes for a fantastic meal. I know it's *just* salad, but it's phenomenal. Don't make the rookie mistake and order a large--the regular is super big. Their juices are quite good, too. Friendly workers, generous portions, and fresh ingredients. Love it.

The Green Kitchen is a fabulous spot in the Milwaukee Public Market. It features fresh salads, juices, and sandwiches. My go-to option has been the #11 (chicken, mozzarella, arugula, basil-pesto, tomato grilled on ciabatta). The sandwich is big enough to save the second half for later (and it reheats well in the oven). The staff has been super friendly and helpful and somehow manages to keep the, at times, chaotic lines organized and under control. This isn't the fastest of places due to the small space and busy lines, but if you've got the time, it's well worth it.

Salads are great. So nice to have a healthy option at the Public Market. Sandwiches are always a little off, for example way too much cheese or some other ingredient. I've tried a few that sounded delicious and each has disappointed. It makes me appreciate other restaurants that must really make an effort to perfect their recipes. Service is sometimes good, but I'm often ignored for two straight minutes as they finish making someone else's order or wash dishes. It would just be nice to be acknowledged as I walk up to the counter, even if they need me to wait for a bit. They rarely smile. Ordering delivery is usually a mess. They want you to fax orders, but if they're on the phone the fax won't go through, so sometimes I try multiple times and finally give up and walk the order over (luckily just a block away). Overall, glad they're there, but they have a lot of room for improvement.

Many thumbs up for the the salad/sandwich/juice choices here. There's something that makes me feel really good about drinking a shot of wheat grass, and no I'm not trying to be trendy. Green Kitchen has a few salads that you can choose from (or make your own); same with sandwiches. The regular salad is a decent size for $7.95. I like to make my own or the buffalo chicken one is great too. The sandwiches that are served on the ciabatta, however, are enormous (def shareable). The juice bar is pretty rocking as well. I like the cold killer (oj, ginger, honey, wheat grass, and lime/apple maybe?) My only complaint would be no avocado option at the salad bar (I believe they have it on some sandwiches so what gives?) as well as how you order here. The salad order line is way at the other end from the sandwich order line with the juice order line right in the middle. It's confusing when it gets crowded.

I resisted the Green Kitchen for a long time, but finally gave them a shot and now I'm a fan. I mostly go for the veggie sandwiches and they super tasty, are almost as good as what I make at home. Then I realize what I paid and that I could have made it myself and I kick myself and then continue enjoying my lunch and chilling with the work peeps. I've also ordered their delivery for work meetings and everyone loves the change up from the usual. Flavor Cycle baby!

The staff is kind of rude, so that's off-putting. But their menu is extensive, though I think they should offer more vegetarian options. I got the asian chicken wrap (as I occasionally eat chicken) and it was super delicious, but really hard to eat. My sister got the veggie wrap in collard greens. They charge the same price for a third of the food, which is ridiculous. And while good, the wrap was pretty boring. The dressing or sauce had no flavor and she was disappointed with this. Her juice (with beets or something?) was really yummy, but again overpriced for a small amount. I would think twice before eating here again.
