Great atmosphere. Love all the window/doors that open onto the sidewalk. Definitely a positive addition to the neighborhood bar scene downtown.

Eh. Not impressed. Absolutely nothing stood out to me what-so-ever. Definitely don't plan on returning.

wow, i wrote that first review a long time ago. Since then I've visited several more times and I'm impressed. This place seems to have added something to the cathedral corner-Jefferson street area, and when friends ask for recommendations I often recommend it. The music and crowd seem to have gotten more lively, tables spill out of big open windows to the sidewalk, and I've always had good service. The blue lights still pull me in like a tractor beam every time. Upgrade!

I looove everything about this place! The openness, the drinks, the bartender, the decor...it's perfect! Well done. Great for post work cocktail or a weekend starter. They do it right!

Tuesday night is Mardi Gras night with $6 Sazeracs--who could say no to that? I expected a run-of-the-mill drink for the discounted price, but our bartender took loving care with the cocktail, which was better than The Napoleon House in New Orleans, where they allegedly were invented. Love the Art Deco look of the place and excellent, experienced service. Maybe we will try the Hurricanes next time!

Maybe it's just me ... but Belmont gives off this vibe that I'm just not digging. It's like Whisky Bar but for a different group. The two times I've been there the crowd is a little older, a little quiet, and a little persnickety. Now, maybe I'm just too casual of a gal but the place is just not for me. I would say it's great if that's the crowd you roll with. Its tastefully decorated inside, but the wait-staff could be a little more responsive and the drinks could be a little less expensive. If my friends wanted to go there again I'd be there, but I wouldn't go on my own accord. Sorry Belmont, you're just not for me.

I would give The Belmont a solid 3.5 but i cant soo... (Shrugs Shoulders). I was instantly a fan from the outset due to the music that was being played as i entered. It was a weekday around 530ish. They were playing Nas "The Message" and then " If I Ruled The World" circa 1995. I was not expecting to hear that when i stepped in. I was more so expecting something like Sinatra, Dean Martin or Nat Cole. Ok enough of that, there was self serve from popcorn. Hey? You know how much i like things for the Free-99 right? Yes i enjoyed that. The decor is slightly dark and upscale. A couple of booths line the walls to the left and right, while the middle is occupied by a nice size bar and tables right off of the door. They have decent drink specials and the drink that i had tasted nicely crafted. I was kind of sad that i didnt get a chance to try the 5 dollar Mojito. The bartender was social and mixed it up well. I will say that i was the only person of color there. Everyone one else was white and in there mid-thirties up to .... who knows? I expected this however. I would stop back in here. I would like to try other places along Jefferson Street before i do.

If you're a mojito lover like me, you must checkout Belmont. They have great varieties and use real fruit for flavor. Belmont is in a nice location and is a fun stop for a night on the town.

While sipping a whiskey neat I seem to always run into old friends or meet new ones! Such a relaxing place to chill!

Come here on a weekend night and people watching is at a premium. Alot of people trying to a little too hard to be a little more important than they are really are. Highlight of the night was watching the Sharon Stone Basic Insinct scene mashup with the Crying Game scene unfolding in the booth close by. Let's just say that what you see is not always what you truly get. Wannabe's and shenanigans aside, the Belmont is a fun place to grab a drink but not one where I would make it a habit to frequent on the regular.

Classy establishment. I'm more a "hole-in-the-wall" kind of guy, but the open atmosphere and good looking clientele makes for a fun place to take a date or meet up with friends. Love the summer months when the doors and windows are wide open to the outdoor seating. Great to see the owner in the bar shaking hands and talking to patrons.

This place was okay. We went here for happy hour on Friday. I was feeling like a cheap but tasty cocktail, and they were tasty without being too "annoyingly flavored" (i.e. a sidecar, not a choco-tini). I can see it getting bro-y later on in the evening (lets face it the whole block is like that). The bartender was friendly although may have missed an ingredient or two in our cocktails.

Maybe I haven't been to enough places in Milwaukee, but everything seems either A. too pretentious B. A total dive. Belmont, even after considering some downsides, is the only happy medium I've found. Decor is beautiful, seating is comfortable, especially outdoors. Atmosphere was great- not too loud, no so quiet that we could hear the table next to us. Service was good- the waitress was attentive. She did bring us a wrong drink (which she quickly corrected), and she forgot to bring a water we asked for, but she was always around when we needed her, and nice attitude. The drinks are a bit overpriced, and the one I had (something with blackberries) tasted like watered down water. The crowd was in their late 20s. Perfect for a friday night.

I have been coming to Belmont for about two years now. It has been one of my favorite places in the city until tonight. My fiance and I consider it "our bar" but when we went there tonight I was underwhelmed. We attempted to buy a beer and the bartender told us it was a 20 minimum (which has never been the case) when we explained that he rudely pointed us to an atm. I have rarely experienced such an a rude bartender or experience in general. It used to be one of my favorite places in Milwaukee but now I question going back, unfortunately.

Low key, chill, intimate. A spot for the thirty plus crowd. No food, so eat before you come. Handful of televisions to catch some sports broadcast. Classy crowd. Special over the top drinks.

This new-ish bar near Cathedral Square is just a little guy. Kinda small. Not sure what it was that I was expecting, but maybe that's a good thing. I went in with not a single preconceived notion or idea of what the Belmont was going to be. Now, my experience was a bit unconventional, as the Brewers were playing the Diamondbacks in game 5 while I was there. So... no music, add baseball. (But it's WI and it's the Brewers and that's to be expected. This girl's not gonna hate.) The contemporary meets art-deco-y atmosphere is noticeable but not invasive. Not a bad wine list, not a good wine list. Not a bad cocktail menu, not a great cocktail menu. Not bad service, but not great service either. And as Sally M noted, an older crowd to be sure. Not that I'm downtown often, but I'd certainly choose the Belmont over some other spots in the area. That said, I'm not over or underwhelmed. I'm just, "you know... it's whatever. It's fine. It's cool." I'm at a solid three stars on this one, because, well, until I find it to be otherwise, it's just AOK.

On a Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., I half expect the rest of MKE--at least in East Town-- to be on the same cocktail hour clock as me. However, when my group and I walked into Belmont, we were 4 of 6 people in the place, and that included the bartender. Aside from the quiet surroundings, the bar is pretty nifty in terms of decor. It looks like a good venue for a party, but it was just lacking the people to appreciate it. The music was a bit to be desired with the mix of poorly selected Top 40 pop songs. Some rap music blared over the speakers too at one point, and it seemed out of place with the look of the bar. I hoped for some modern rock along the lines of Black Keys or Mumford & Sons; either would have been more appropriate. Semantics really, but music is all part of the marketing strategy. You can turn off potential patrons. Your drink menu can only carry you so far. Belmont does have a short, but interesting list of crafted cocktails. But, they fell short there as well. One member of my party ordered the namesake drink, and she reported that it was "not very good." The expression on her face each time she took a sip led me to believe that it was a bit rough to swallow. Besides the beverage flub, there was a near catastrophic error made on the part of my husband. He likes his bourbons and wanted to try a new one. He discussed the offerings on the back bar, and he asked what the one bottle was that looked different. "Pappy Van Winkle," the bartender replied. That was all she said, so my husband ordered that. Well, when he came back and was looking through the menu, he saw that it would be a $50 pour! Why would the bartender not educate you on the price of the beverages? It's not like it was a $10 pour. Whatever the case, it is the bartender's responsibility to let you know the price ranges of uncommon, premium liquors. It is in the menu, but not all of them are, so how would you know to look there? Your average Joe is not going to opt for a $50 bourbon, so you may want to give them a heads up. The worst part was when my husband said for her not to pour it and the bartender said, "You are lucky you stopped me, because I would've had to charge you for that." Perhaps I am off on this one, but help a customer out. When they ask for options, let them know what you offer, but also let them know the price range. Then, they will be able to make an educated decision that will make them happy.

Milwaukee is one of my favorite cities to visit for a weekend. Our reunion was held here and it is a thumbs down! Where do I begin? The bar draws pretentious patrons - UM you are in Milwaukee, get over yourselves. The music was horrible and the drinks are over-priced for Milwaukee. They were charging Chicago drink prices. My suggestion: skip the visit here and cross the street to Bad Genie for great drinks, service and music.

Classy place for the conversationalist crowd. Decent wine. Pretty ladies. Suave scene. Don't go here expecting a out of control dance party and you won't be disappointed. Very nice place to relax, to talk and get ready for the night :)
