Located in the Milwaukee Public Market, this is really only ideal for those who need a quick bite, as there are many other food options and let's be honest, pre-made sushi isn't ideal in itself. Well I had graced my presence at the MPM and as expected, it was rather crowded. It was quite overwhelming because I was accompanied by very "hangry" ppl. I was going to get a Lobster roll, which was going to take too long. So that brought me to Sushi A Go Go. Hmmm. I carefully looked through the options for freshness and even asked the girl at the counter when these had been prepared. She was nice and attentive. I chose the rainbow roll and avocado. Simple and they looked extremely fresh considering. I asked her if she could place spicy mayo on the side for me and she happily obliged. I also got a water and my total was about $16. Damn that water was expensive! In any case, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. And the rainbow offered salmon, tuna, yellow tail AND octopus, which was really awesome. The avocado was just as good and certainly fresh. It was a good experience and when desperate times call for desperate measures, I'd most certainly hit up this place again. It obviously doesn't compare to an actual sushi restaurant, but even they can be hit or miss depending on where you go. For packaged sushi, it's a four. I had absolutely no qualms, except for the expensive water bottle.

Where's the fish? The quality here has really gone down hill. Granted I purchased the end of the day 'buy 2 get 1 free' special, but that doesn't explain needing a magnify glass to see the fish and the rice which wasn't cooked fully. The sushi was something you would expect from a place that doesn't focus on sushi for their menu. Dare I say, 'the Wal-Mart' of sushi? They do have a sushi roll with steak inside, which I thought would be perfect for my meat loving husband. But, why would you buy a steak and wrap it in enough rice where you can't even taste it? Why would you cover it with sauce, just so you can taste something?

Sushi-a-go-go Is located inside the Milwaukee public market. Parking is available in the lot or on the street. I had a hankering for sushi today but didn't want to commit to a sit down in any fashion. Then i remembered seeing this sushi place previously wandering through the public market. So off i was. I want to note that i usually don't eat sushi prepared sitting around in a cooler. But hey... let's roll the dice. There are a couple things I want to comment on. I have to disagree with Nicole A's review in it's entirety. Granted that was 2011 and we are just breaking ground in 2013 so things do change. The rice was fine. The amount of salmon in my Philly roll was fine. The steak in my Vampire roll was ok taste wise. As a guy who doesn't eat cooler sushi (that's what i am calling it) i found that it exceeded my expectations. I'll admit they were low but considering the price I am happy with what I got. The complaints. - The steak itself was of a lesser quality. - There was no interaction through the cashier. They stopped talking immediately and it was silent through the transaction. I don't expect a full on dialogue but a verbal acknowledgement would suffice. Two portions cost me around $13 which is acceptable. I highly doubt i would ever rate cooler sushi in the 5 range. Really I could go one of two ways with this review. I could knock off a star for the lack of customer service for a total of two. Or I can give this a three. I do appreciate the quick and convenient aspect of this but I do wonder about the quality of the product. Again... the steak (while a nice option to have) was of poorer quality in my steak eating opinion. I wish Nicole's review touched on why they went downhill. How was it different in the past? Was this just a one time negative experience. If you are going to crap on a place at least revisit it multiple times to consider variables. After rating the soup house low I went back and filled up a couple of cards examining their product. Oh well. You the reader can decide whether it's a 2 or 3 star review. I will leave it as three simply to offset Nicole. LOL Since other reviewers enjoy the Manapua I will sample that and report back at a later date

Manapua- sweet bread stuffed with pulled pork. Totally awesome and my favorite of all the things they do. And they do a variety of items. Aside from the obvious sushi offerings (not too bad on a whim, but not my favorite), they do everything from burgers and corndogs to chicken fingers and spring rolls. Pricing is decent considering the location. Service has been fine, just quick and basic, no frosting on top. Consistency with the items is the soft point though, as I've had the manapua about a dozen times and had a couple that were pretty rock solid on the bottom portion of the bread. My preference is to snag the manapua from here and a glass of red at Thief.

I'm a bit perplexed by the review below complaining that the sushi fish "wasn't fully cooked," !?! Maybe a little unclear on the concept? I don't think it's fair to compare this American-sushi to real Japanese sushi, as it's cheaper, prepared in advance, and sold by underpaid college students at a counter. Instead, a more fair comparison is with supermarket sushi, and this is about as good, and conveniently located in the Public Market where you can sit down and have a coffee or glass of wine with friends, an option not available at the supermarket. The counter help here is about as nice as the cashiers at supermarkets that sell prepared sushi (not very), the pricing and the quality is quite comparable. The presentation and packaging is ugly-American, not bento-box Japanese, and that's regrettable, but I've had sushi of this quality in upscale expensive pseudo-Japanese fine dining restaurants. Sadly, many round-eyes will rave about more expensive mediocre sushi than sushi of the same low quality at a place like this. They're not using sushi quality rice, the fish is (not cooked) of the lower end of sushi fish, but it's an okay deal, and the counter cashiers don't even make the pretense of acting like they deserve tips, so you don't need to bother.

I love stopping here on the way to school. You can oftentimes find parking right on the street during the day although you get free parking in the lot with validation. My favorties are the spicy tuna roll and the Catipiller roll. The fish is always fresh and Troy the owner is very friendly and helpful. My husbang always orders the Manapua sandwich and always loves it.

Small to go servings at a high price. Staff is busy chatting amongst themselves. Would rather get Pick N Save sushi to be honest. It's fish in a pinch.

Considering that sushi is part of the name of this place, I should have gotten sushi, but I saw a sign that said they had pulled pork sandwiches with your choice of sauce and cheese or Asian slaw. There was no one at the counter when I walked up. When a getleman finally appeared after a few minutes, he took my order then disappeared into the back, leaving the man in line behind me to wait for him to come out to take his order. Though him walking in the back to prepare my food didn't hurt me at all, I thought it was kind of rude top the fellow in line behind me. The sandwich came with potato chips, plain Lay's. They didn't have any other kind. The sandwich itself looked good. It had the slaw on top of the meat, which is not unusual, but there was only a small amount of it. The first thing I noticed about the flavor is that the slaw did not taste Asian at all. In fact, it tasted a whole lot like standard American coleslaw. The pork in the sandwich, though it was tender and somewhat moist, did not have much if any of the teriyaki flavor it was supposed to have, or at least the way I ordered it. The person that put the sandwich together may have just poured the sauce on the bottom of the bun before he piled on the pork. I say the because the bottom of the bun was so wet that it fekk apart when I tried to pick ot up, making it impossible to eat as a sandwich. It was good that he included a plastic knife and fork with the sandwich. It should be noted that the bottom of the wet bun did nlot have anything in the way of teriyaki gflavor either, so the theory that all the sauce was on the bottom bun was apparently incorrect.
