FACE OFF. Not the movie, though... this corner. It's Wild Flour and Stone Creek and Colectivo and it's all situated between the OG and brand new Anodynes, geographically speaking. It's a Lincoln/KK coffee clutch. COFFEE WARS? Coffee wars! I like to imagine the barista West Side Story type antics. It's not true, though. The folks that work at these respective spots (and in Milwaukee coffee in general) tend mad respect for each other, at least at the barista/roaster level. Barista buds. Collaborative coffee culture. It's awesome. Take note. Anyways... I like Stone Creek. In a city replete with amazing coffee and a culture to match, we all have our favorites, but SC is quickly rising in my personal ranks. I used to write them off before I knew much about them, thinking they were too big or bland or whatever. The truth of the matter is that some of their coffee is really, really good. The Ethiopia Worka might be one of my favorite roasts of all time, and has made me reconsider my whole "I only like Central and South American beans" stance. It's most certainly true that Stone Creek rocks a commitment to local in terms of the community as well as sustainable business practices and a general coolness factor. (... Intermodal + Radio MKE locations, anyone?) All that said, one thing Stone Creek does better than everyone else in MKE (imho) is speciality coffee drinks. Their specialty coffee drinks far and away outweigh the local competition's. Thai iced coffee? Cardamom latte? Get out of here. Inventive, never too sweet, and expertly executed. I normally don't indulge in such "calorie-wasters," but I'll make an exception when at Stone Creek. Seriously. Four stars for convenience and awesomeness in the heart of Bay View!

I don't know how qualified I am to write this review because I only had an iced coffee there. Once. But seriously the coffee had the best flavor of any coffee I've ever had. It was full bodied and flavorful but not in the least bitter or burnt tasting. Its really hard to find this combo! Theres a cute little patio/garden fountain area, great people watching on KK and many yummy looking baked goods. I have no idea why I've never tried stone creek before!

Guys, Stone Creek has some of the greatest graphic design I've ever seen. Betcha didn't expect me to start my review of a cafe that way, eh? But it's true! Kudos to their designer. Favorite print: "Push It" with a french press. Ahh! So good. #SuckerforPuns Also, really great coffee, knowledgeable and friendly staff, yummy food (highly recommend bagel + cream cheese + jam). Lovely patio area in a great spot for people-watching. Good stuff, Stone Creek. Love you. I really must also point out that there's a rad lady barista who works on the mornings and because she remembers a few details about me and comments on them each time I visit, she makes me feel like a regular and I love that. I think that says a lot about why I'll stop at Stone Creek much more often than hitting up the Colectivo across the street.

Truth is I tend to check in more at the coffee spot across the corner, but really I enjoy the latte here more. Baristas are friendly and there is nice seating both indoors and outdoors. Tip: on Mondays this shop offers double punches on punch cards.

The best Americano ever! You gotta go here fer sher. Crushes FOURBUCKS burnt coffee. Conveniently located with lots of free parking. The neighborhood/ old commercial district is charming and comfortable.

I do like Stone Creek, even if I cannot give it more than 3 stars. I like the location. I like they way they do chai. I like the staff. However, their prices are much more than the corner competitors. Now, I do not know the origins of everything they offer, but I do know there is Rishi masala chai and teas, the same as the neighbors. Now, is there a cow out back from where they are getting fresh milk? Yes? Well, then we can talk.

I bought a 34 oz.French press coffee maker (Bodum) two years ago. Carafe broke. I did not have a model # in order to reorder a replacement. Went back to the Bay View place, the staff member checked a number on the front of another coffee maker and pointed out the number: 1948. I tried using this number and found out it is NOT the model number. Checked with the main place on N. 4th. Street and some guy suggested I come down there and "what is your model no?" Nevertheless I don't want to deal with someone who doesn't seem to understand my dilemna. I will try one more time at the Bay View cafe and hope someone there can help answer this simple question.

I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but when I am hankering for my drink of choice (Soy latte with a sugar free flavor shot) I hit up Stone Creek. Let me say first off that they have the absolute FRIENDLIEST barista's around. (Unlike that other place that I really, really hate.) I've gone in their before and had actual conversations with them because they always ask how you are doing, what your plans are for the day...its refreshing really. The coffee is yummy. My drink always taste just the same and always hits the spot. Plus, as they are pouring the milk they always make a cute design on top for me. Necessary? No. But again, I appreciate the small details. The bakery is freaking perfection. Stone Creek used to get their bakery from City Market, but now that they have expanded their factory, they make their own bakery! My personal fave is the morning bun. Crispy and sugary on top, soft and rich on the inside. They have a chocolate sea salt croissant that I have been lusting over, but my diet tells me I don't need it. Stupid health consciousness... And for the gluten free peeps, they have a really tasty gluten-free banana muffin! The set up inside is small, but during the warmer months you can sit outside and enjoy people watching on KK. 4 stars! Chip chip cheerio my fair Stone Creek!

Stone Creek is my go-to place to work! I love the atmosphere...Very laid back, unpretentious. A real slice of Bay View. I'm a black coffee kind of girl and I love their roasts. It's a quiet place and there is usual space for me and my laptop during the day. I often drive past several other coffee spots that are completely full and arrive here with a sigh of relief. If you're looking for a space to work or decompress this fits the bill. Staff is friendly. Not a big food selection. Sometimes a couple of homeless people (They just add to the charm). Nice outside space!

I've lived across the street from this location for almost 5 years, so I've been a customer more times than I could ever count. I love Stone Creek. The coffee is delicious and always made to perfection. We buy the bags of beans and grind at home in the Bunn -- it's so tasty. Plus you get a free coffee when you buy a bag, and they have coffee and bean punch cards. I also enjoy their iced coffees in the summer. Other products I've had are smoothies and bakery items. All very tasty. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it is very unpretentious unlike a lot of hipster places in Bay View. The employees are always very friendly. They always say hello as you come inside. The line moves nicely. They just did a remodel on the inside since now they have to compete with the new behemoth Alterra across the intersection. It's very nice inside, as is the outside patio. It's nice and quiet. The ONE complaint I have, and believe me this is minor, is that the patio chairs aren't the most comfortable. But I think that's the nature of coffee shop patio chairs. I will continue to exclusively patronize Stone Creek despite the new Alterra.

I love their coffee, I love the location, and the manager, Christian, is so kind and pleasant. He really puts his heart into making coffee and because of that reason alone I keep going back. Making great coffee is a skillful art and he definitely is talented and takes great care in what he does. Thank you for putting a smile on my face. :))

Beautiful cafe, nice staff, neat outdoor patio area, great location. The coffee... YUCK! I usually order soy lattes at cafes, and I have to say theirs are the worst. I can barely taste the coffee, I can't taste the flavoring syrup at all, and it tastes bland/ icky. If the drink actually tasted good I could give a 4-5 star rating, but not in this case. As a coffee shop I would also think they would stay open later, say until 10pm, but they don't. Sorry Stone Creek, you're cute but the drinks ain't cuttin' it. :-(

Stone Creek is my favorite, specifically this store. I like the choice of beans, the friendliness of the staff, and the location. Additionally, I like the punchcard for bags of coffee. After you've bought 10, the 11th is free; PLUS you receive a free cup of coffee or espresso drink each time you purchase a bag of coffee; PLUS when you bring the bag back for the next round of beans there is a price discount.

Stone Creek Coffee is one of Bayview's gems on KK. Everything about the shop is wonderful. Great coffee and espresso drinks, a relaxed atmosphere with excellent taste in interior design, and a patio that is one of the best in Milwaukee. The staff is friendly and has always been welcoming unlike the factory assembly line feel of most Alterra locations and without the art school pretension found in some of the 'hipper' coffee shops in the city. The atmosphere is no smoking and there is never loud or obtrusive music blaring in your face. This is the perfect place to go and study or get some work done. During the summer time the patio is stellar as the landscaping is clever and intimate. Highly recommended for the individual. Skip it if you're looking for the 'social scene'.

If you enjoy the persistent sound of vacuuming and chairs being stacked while sipping your coffee, come to Stone Creek, Bay View. I dropped by on a Saturday evening to grab a cup of coffee and read. Both of these simple expectations were met with sheer disappointment. The coffee brewed that evening was utterly bland - their breakfast blend which is on par with Starbucks. What really turned the experience from average to miserable was when the sole barista began loudly stacking chairs and then vacuuming about 1 + 1/2 hours before closing. Although the young man seemed nice enough, the gesture was utterly disrespectful and annoying to the guests! (Albeit, there were only two of us) With many great coffee shop options in the neighborhood - Anodyne, Sven's, Collectivo, I won't be back to this one anytime soon. My experiences at Stone Creek by the Intermodal station and at Radio Milwaukee in Walker 's Point have each set the bar relatively high. Yet, I have noticed that the overall coffee quality of Stone Creek is far less consistent than Anodyne and Collectivo. It 'a time to step up your service and coffee, Stone Creek!

I have always been a fan of Stone Creek, and was very happy that Stone Creek - years before it was an easy business decision - decided that it was going to invest in Bay View on the South Side of Milwaukee. Breaking the traditional disdain for all things South of the East Side or 3d ward, this coffee shop decided to be a part of the "New" Bay View before it was trendy for east side business owners, rich kids with money to burn, and Chicago investors flooded into Bay View to "revitalize" it. The coffee has always been great, and they have always had a good relationship with community groups as well. So, the roast is great, and the way they do business is good as well. I often get espresso, or grab a pound to bring to friends in other cities (yep, it is that good). I have always liked the label design this place has. The coffee is good, but it is well packaged and the labels (which some people collect) look cool. I tend to come here and drink iced coffee from the tap, and work on my laptop using the free Wifi. The nice outdoor patio is an added bonus. My only complaint is that they do not have a generous refill policy. You can't buy a large ice coffee and fill er up for a buck. I would like to see something like this added to the menu, but I still give this place 5 stars!

Decent small shop; very typical SC location. Staff is nice and they have the most expertly-crafted coffee in town. Not much else to report!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed stone creek. I love this place. Each one unique. But my go to is in bayview. Great mug o joe. And free refills. And did I say it's very good coffee? Staff are awesome. Good food. This location has amazing outdoor zen garden to sit and sip during our freakishly nice summer. The walkers point location is also great with a different vibe. Outdoor firepit and radio station upstairs. It's good to have choices! Way to go MKE

Here's my morning routine: stumble out of bed, brush my teeth (maybe), walk the dogs, go to Stone Creek. Seriously. I freaking love their coffee so much. And they make one of the best soy lattes I've ever had. And the cold-brewed coffee!! Unreal. So smooth and incredibly delish. For a super duper treat, get a double-strength mocha iced coffee. This location has the friendliest staff, and the space is small but cozy. I also love the music they play here. In the non-freezing months of the year, there's a lovely patio with several little tables. The only bummer is that none of their delectable pastries are vegan. But for anyone who's not vegan, try the monkey danish!

Another coffee shop in an area saturated with coffee shops. I'm not a coffee drinker, but tea is my thing and this is pretty middle of the road. The chai is fine with a decent flavor, but really doesn't taste any better than what I could make at home. However, what I could not make at home, is their tasty shortbread cookies! These little 1.5 inch square pack an plethora of taste in each bite. All you taste is a great balance of butter and cream, what could be better! A soy alternative for chai latte is great but many places in the area now offer almond milk as well. Stone Creek does not. In fact they seems to be a bit behind the trends, rather than setting them. And with so many options in such a small area I would think they would want to step up their game. The one thing that sets Stone Creek Coffee apart from the others in this neighborhood is their outdoor seating. The intersections of Howell, KK and Lincoln Avenues have often been touted as the heart of Bayview. An on the northeast side of this heart sits a beautiful outdoor garden park. Inserted in a triangle bordered by the busy KK Avenue and the sleepy one way street, Allis, this small park provides a bit of a respite from the bustle of the busy downtown. with the perfect view to keep an eye on the action. Grab a drink and a seat and enjoy!

Very nice inside and tasty scone, but the cold brew and coffee on drip was not to my liking. I appreciated the coffee across the street more and think I would suggest that over Stone Creek. Not awful, but not the best around.

I'm here probably three days a week. Great team at this location, always attentive, drinks are always perfectly made. They know their coffee's too. Keep it up!

YAAAA, SOOOO, I guess just the Shorewood location sucks??! Stone Creek does, in fact, have wonderful coffee and espresso drinks. Maybe the other location has pulls crappy espresso shots? No... because the coffee sucked too... I don't really know the answer, people. This location is my favorite of all the Stone Creeks... Why? Welp, the patio is one of the most relaxing coffee terraces in MKE. In addition, the people watching in Bay View is 5 star. All day, every day. The staff here are one of the friendliest I have ever come across. Always helpful, BIG smile, and suggestive. I tried my first cold brew here. Now, I am an iced coffee fiend. Just thinking about iced coffee makes me want to hope in my beaten-up Hyundai and visit my closest Stone Creek. I've never really tried there bakery or food items, so I cannot comment on that aspect. Their pumpkin spice lattes are head over shoulders above "He-who-must-not-be-named." I am pretty sure they don't carry biscotti's which is a little bit of a BuMmEr. Stone Creek is impressive. They are coffee experts. And, I respect that. Yay CAFFEINE!!

This will be brief, but I love this Stone Creek. This is probably my favorite Stone Creek location if we're not discussing based on the space (the Factory Cafe wins that battle). But this location is cozy, the staff is always super friendly, there's a great outdoor seating area on Bay View's busiest intersection and it just feels nice and cozy. Love it. Also, sorry Stone Creek, but you're not getting five stars because you took Cream City Ice off of the menu, I LOVED that. I miss it. Please bring it back.

Very awesome! Great coffee, very smooth & tasty! Not really in the way of food other than a bagel or fruit but the coffee goes makes up for it!

Went here for some late-evening pick me ups with my girls after a long day, and were treated to some great coffee and ambiance. In addition to your standard coffee-house fare with some nice twists (a honey and maple Boston Latte paired with delicious on-site made maple and chocolate caramels, among the other great pairings) there are flights of coffee in various styles, including chemex. Definitely a gem with an emphasis on detail and style.

This Stone Creek is a cozy cafe - not too big, but enough tables and chairs that patrons looked comfortable. I visited on a particularly windy day, and the draft seemed to wander in each time the door opened, so I might be more into this spot during the summer than winter. I generally drink Stone Creek coffee black but opted for the Vanilla Bean drink, and it was hands-down one of the best coffee drinks I've had in a while. Staff is friendly and personable, and you can tell this is a location with its regulars -- always a good sign. Two thumbs up.

I just tried this place recently and I'm sorry that I didn't discover it sooner! Not only do they have tasty coffee and great bakery, but the food is beyond the ordinary and uniquely their own. I've tried two types of scones and a muffin so far and haven't been disappointed. It's tasty, hearty and doesn't make me feel like I'm eating sugar for breakfast. Best of all, the service is fantastic and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I usually stop in for a quick breakfast on my way to work and I'm usually in and out in well under 10 minutes and have a nice short conversation with the friendly staff while I'm in there.

Love the one in Bay View & the one near the Amtrak station (The Foundry). The coffee and staff are wonderful. There is this one guy at the Bay View location that is kind of jerky but really it could be worse. The peppermint mocha's are too yummy and worth dealing with him for one!

  • Jeff K.

They have cold brewed coffee on tap. I think I'll come here once in a while just for that. Otherwise, it's a great place to hang out and spend some time reading and doing work. The space itself isn't too large (at least compared to the Colectivo across the street), but when it's nice out, the outdoor seating makes for an enjoyable experience. I was planning on buying a pastry, but they had a fly protecting the goodies which convinced me to stay away for the time being. Overall, a nice contribution to the coffee scene in Milwaukee.

I like their coffee better than Alterra's, and their staff has never made me feel judged. I like.

  • Brad S.

I don't have any evidence to back this up, but I'm pretty sure Stone Creek was on the bleeding edge of the idea for coffee shops to offer free wifi. They certainly broke my leeching cherry back in 2005. As other coffee shops have opened up their routers to follow suit in the subsequent six years, all Stone Creek has to lean on now is the quality of their coffee, which - luckily - is still quite good. They were cool in Bay View before it was cool to be in Bay View. They're like Alterra, except without all the damn attitude. They're physically closer to where I live. All good things.

  • Meghan H.

First of all, love the atmosphere/decor of the place, especially with regard to the outdoor seating area that they provide--very nice place to relax in the warm summer months. Coffee is quality. No complaints. Overall, highly recommend this place.

I live almost smack dab between this Stone Creek location and the Alterra on 1st and Pittsburgh, and sometimes find myself neglecting Stone Creek. It's really my loss, because the coffee is great and the baristas are uncharacteristically friendly, so far as baristas go. Sally hits the nail on the head: Stone Creek is very low key, very anti-scene and that aspect is kind of refreshing. My visits to this location typically last less than 2 minutes, which I really love. I'll have to sit down and relax someday to get a real feel for the place, but my 2 minute experiences have been by and large positive.

Great drinks, friendly baristas, beautiful garden patio.. Staff is knowledgeable and prompt, and will engage you in conversation. Feels like a real neighborhood establishment. Bakery is really good, and has some unusual options.

  • Danielle I.

Stone Creek coffee is my favorite coffee in town. This one in particular has a really great out door patio. The staff are very talented and fast and always seem really happy. But i think my favorite thing about this Stone Creek is that some business freak out when people use there outdoor patio for other business like babes ice cream next door. The people here are not up tight about that. I feel they really encourage the local businesses here and the people to enjoy the patio. :)

  • Angela K.

After years of having positive experiences with Stone Creek Bay View, I think it is safe to say that this is one of the happiest places in Milwaukee. I have never had an even remotely negative experience here. The baristas are always so friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. Their coffee-making skills aren't too shabby either. They have a wonderful variety of delicious roasts and I think it's safe to say I'm hooked on their espresso. You can't go wrong with this Stone Creek--I mean that, truly. Make the time to check it out because you won't be sorry AND you'll have some truly scrumptious coffee noms.

I spend so much money at this place, I should own stock! The coffee is excellent and the people are great and very friendly. If you like coffee (hot or iced) or chai (hot or iced) or hot apple cider in the fall or lemonade in the summer try this place, you won't be disappointed. This particular store has a beautiful outdoor seating area as well as generous indoor seating and free Wi-Fi. They also carry at least 10 variety's of their locally roasted, Fair Trade, whole bean coffee that they will grind to your specs. This is a great coffee shop.

I hung out at the lesser-known alternative to Milwaukee's Alterra Coffee Roasters last weekend when I had some time to kill in Delafield. I love Alterra, but their service is occasionally too pretentiously hipster for its own good. Don't get me wrong, there are some really nice people working at all the Alterra's, but I get the feeling those people naturally lean that way, and the ones that don't turn out to be natural customer service stars are simply left to treat people with a blase attitude. That aside, Alterra has fantastic coffee and food and I will spend good money there for many years, but I was very impressed with the service at Stone Creek this past weekend. The girl at the counter was very friendly and offered a great suggestion - an iced thai coffee drink that turned out to be fantastic. I enjoyed a decent piece of tiramisu and the cool, quiet atmosphere, but was most impressed at how personable the staff were. I spend an evening or two at Alterra every month. I love their facilities and selection, but Stone Creek has free wireless internet access and an equally interesting drink menu. I guess what I'm saying, Stone Creek might be making a run for it's money next time I have to decide with coffee shop to hang out at.

I LOVE Stone Creek! I have to agree with some of the other reviews... a second in the minds of most to Alterra, but superior in reality! The shops may not be as eccentric (and don't get me wrong, I love a quirky coffee shop), but their coffee is better! Hands down! And yes, they have great customer service. Yummy, yummy lattes!
