Great neighborhood Mexican restaurant!! As many times as I have driven by and said "I should try them" - finally did tonight on the whim. 8pm on a Friday night and I couldn't find parking...I was intrigued as to what was going on. I walked in and there's a live band that is playing Elvis cover songs. Totally unexpected but entertaining. Ordered a large margarita on the rocks and loved it! It's huge and can be a meal by itself! Lol. The table ordered a variety of things, but I got the steak fajitas and I have to say it's the best I've had. The meat was marinated with so much taste and so delicious! The guacamole that came on the side was tasty as well. Will absolutely come back and try more of the menu. Four meals, 3 large margaritas, and dessert was only $75!

I had Los Mariachis bookmarked for the longest time. We were in the area today and decided to take it off my "to try" list. From the outside, I thought I was in for a exceptional experience. The inside is very dark and lit by red and green lights. Maybe let over from the Christmas season? There were no windows either. The bar was large, which is good. But the focal point was a dance floor that took up 1/3 of the restaurant. Did I just land lunch at a club? Granted there wasn't DJ Pauly D spinning, but it was out of place. Clearly their money maker lies during dancing hours. After sitting down at a table with fake flowers that needed a good pitch to the can, we were greeted by our server. I still don't know why they had his name laminated and placed at the end of our table. I've never seen that done before, but whatever. The menu was full of the Mexican staples found on most menus. I went with my chicken enchiladas. They were smothered in red sauce and cheese and full of white chicken breast. My entree could have been hotter (as in the temperature). Prices were on the higher side. Twelve bucks for enchiladas in this place was laughable. I would have been fine with eight or nine. Then the kicker was when I asked for sour cream and got charged $1.50. But, the place was a dive bomb. It needs major repairs and some TLC. The inside is not representative of the outside. Turn on the lights! But then again, maybe I really don't want to see what the place really looks like. I'll just leave it at that. Would I go back? No. It wasn't impressive enough. There are a lot of other options in the area that can promise a better experience.

Chips and salsa were average. Margaritas made from syrupy mix. Steak tacos were awful. The steak was in a fine dice therefore no flavor. Asked if I wanted cilantro and onion or lettuce and tomato. Why not all? No sour cream. Service was ok.

Visiting from Oklahoma. Chips and salsa were average. My margarita and steak tacos were amazing! Service was excellent. Mariachi band was great. Table side songs were right on with the type of individuals out

I remember when they first opened, we were regulars. Great food and huge portions for the money. As time wet on, prices went up and portions and quality went way down. Fast forward to present day... New owners for a while now and you really won't see tons of change. Menu has a good selection. Bar area has been updated and they offer happy hour specials. These specials are only about $0.50 off though so not really something to rush in for. They offer a free taco bar during happy hour and that is pretty nice to munch on while drinking your margaritas. Saturday nights they have live music and dancing and we stumbled across it by accident but glad we did. Seems it's quite the hot spot even though we were the youngest ones in there - still had lots of fun. If you get there before 8pm you can skip the cover charge. Food was good, service was so so. After we were done with our meal our waitress disappeared and we had to continue to order our drinks by going to the bar. Felt pretty dropped at that point. Overall, if you are looking for a fun place to check out on a Saturday night to hear live music and get some dancing in - definitely check it out.

I think some just say things to get attention. I think emily is one of those people..The food here is NOT over priced in fact it is very reasonable. The portion size is right on.! I have had almost everything on this menu and have never been disappointed. I love this place.

Love this place! Staff is always friendly and food is always good and tastes fresh! The bar is always a good time also! The only thing I would say is that the bartenders aren't very knowledgable on some of the drinks.. But that's totally ok.. I go for the food :) check this place out! You won't be disappointed! Oh and the chips are good too

Eh. The last time we stopped here will probably be the last time we go here. We stopped in after a trip out of town (it was on the way back from the airport, which was convenient for us). We walked in and had to wait for the hostess to show up and seat us. We waited around to get some waters and menus. So far, not really happy about the service, but from times we've visited in the past, that's par for the course. Finally, our waitress showed up - we were able to get our drinks and orders in. I had the chicken enchiladas, which arrived cold and soggy. There was a lot of gristle and found a hard piece (bone) in one bite. I'm glad I didn't break any teeth with that one! Needless to say, their overpriced food, iffy service, and watered down margaritas were just too much for this gal. If they re-tooled their service and took a hard look at their menu / preparation, I'd consider going back. In the meantime, it almost seems more depressing each time we go. Honestly, there's plenty of other GOOD Mexican restaurants to visit, so we'll probably stay away a while.

Love this place. Chips and salsa are the tops. Combination fajitas are the best I've had. Margaritas are tasty and pack a bit of a wallop. Friendly staff, and fair prices as well. A once a week stop for my wife and I.

The location of this place is in the desert between Point Loomis, 27th Street and 76th street. We need some good restaurants in these here parts! The ambience is very gloomy. As you approach the reception counter, you pass slot machines on the left and a bar on the right. The place needs some sprucing up but I care more about food quality, than I do about ambience. We had chicken tacos, beef tongue tacos and guacamole. The chicken was pulled and highly seasoned, but I did not care for the smell of the meat. The corn tortillas of the tacos fell apart and the 3 taco plate became a dish to be eaten with a fork. The rice and beans also had a strange smell. I wanted to love the food, but unfortunately it didn't happen.

After living in Tucson for the last 1.5 years, I had a mexican food withdrawal. Looked for something close to my new apartment. Gave this a try the other day and was disappointed. Food was not bad but nowhere near Tucson standards. Had the steak fajitas and a margarita. Steak fajitas were not bad but the limited amount of guacamole and pico de gallo was a disappointment. Not enough to last through 2 wraps. Beans were cold and the rice was dry. left both of those. No kick to the margarita. Seemed watered down and the mix was flat. Will give this place another chance in the future with lower expectations.

The food & service were both fantastic! I love the idea a music & dancing for the atmosphere! The margaritas were sweet & not bitter- my boyfriend said they're his new favorite (& he's picky about margaritas haha)! We will be back!

Monday 10/27/14. We went about 4 PM We were looking for a new Mexican restaurant to go to. Our favorite Mexican restaurant downtown Rudy's has a new menu and is not as authentic anymore and we were looking for a new Mexican restaurant to go to regularly. We went to jalapeno Loco by the airport and nobody even sat us or noticed we were there so we left and we came to this restaurant. It was myself my daughter and my husband who is Hispanic. Right away when we got there there was a young gentleman who sat us. He was very quiet and shy though and we got good service and the food was really good. My husband said the food tasted like his mother's which is a big compliment. The waiter walked around asking how everything was and if we needed anything. The only thing we wish was that the nacho chips were warm that they give you when you get there but the salsa was really good. We really liked it and will be going back regularly. They do have a dance floor it seems not sure when they do that and they also seem to have maybe a party room but I'm not sure. The restaurant did not look dirty at all to us it was old-fashioned.

If you know me, you know that I can be cheap. Cheap with a capital C. I try to save where I can so I can also spend when I want to, like on traveling, nice heels, a pretty handbag just like most girls. Now I started by saying I was cheap, and I say that because we tried this place only because we found a "Buy One Get One" coupon for dinner, and I can resist a lot of things, but coupons and Mexican Food, neither of those can I resist very easily. I took 2 photos, I wish I had taken one of the chips & salsa too, as they served two types of salsa, one mild and one was somewhat hot, and baby I like it hot! They were generous with the chips & salsa as well, we got a second basket to munch on without even asking, and then our food was brought out, by a very friendly server I might add. You know servers can be hit or miss, even when the food is great, but this time was a hit and he checked on us just enough, but not too much. I gravitate somewhere between check on me, but don't hover, you know what I'm talking about. Those severs that come back when everyone is on their second bite, and you're thinking sheeesh just let me eat in peace, haha. So yeah, it was not that type of service.... My burrito was HUGE! Please see the pic, I seriously had to take 1/2 with us! Of course I fit some chips & salsa into my to-go container too! ;) I'm giving 4 stars because the place does look a little older, but I still liked the overall experience & I definitely wouldn't call it a hole in the wall. Although, I'm not one to knock a hole in the wall either, usually those places have good eats & solid drinks.

Based on the low reviews, and consensus that the steak fajitas and hot salsa are good, I ordered the two. The meat was definitely tender, plenty of veggies, some guacamole and salsa, the serving size was large, and the service was good. The reason for the three stars is that the fajitas were too salty, the rice overcooked, and the beans were bland. The guacamole wasn't impressive either. Everything combined into a tortilla made an edible dinner, but this is not a restaurant that I would go back to, other than to get some more of their hot salsa. I'm not a fan of cilantro, and I thought that this was one of the best tasting salsas that I've had. My guess is that it was essentially lime juice, crushed chilies, tomatoes, and salt.

Two thumbs down! I hate wasting money and that's what happened here. Way too expensive for mediocre at best lunch. One star for the chips and salsa. The restaurant itself is filthy and extremely outdated. The staff had zero personality. Tell you what I really think? Yes, never open the Front door.

Still a fan overall, but have been a little less impressed lately. Their house margaritas are bad. Paying the extra money for them to use a real tequila is necessary. Also, their dishes could use some flavoring. I got a chicken taco for the first time and there was zero seasoning on it. I went with a soft corn tortilla and it was just soggy and gross. The enchilada was good and their chimichangas are my favorite, but everything else falls a little short and could use some extra seasoning.

Absolutely, hands down, my favorite mexican restaurant. The building exterior interior are kind of shady looking so the first time I came, I wasn't expecting much. To sum up the food in one word: fresh. The chips and fresh salsa are some of my favorite as well. The hot salsa isn't as hot as I'd like but still has a good spice to it. The steak fajitas are A M A Z I N G. Their steak is soooooooo flavorful ! The flour tortillas I think are handmade there.... they definitely didn't come out of the refrigerator. The cheese they give you for the fajitas is freshly shredded right from a block of cheese. I always very much enjoy the enchiladas. Combined with those incredible tortillas, the cheese and sauces of the enchilada are fantastic. I echo Gabriel P's review that the food is savory and they use upper level ingredients as opposed to processed foods.

I stopped in here to see a band playing. I have to say I'm impressed. What was once a dinghy, run down place has been remodeled into a nice, proper restaurant and bar. Kudos on the remodel. I was drinking top shelf margaritas for the reasonable price of $7. They also have a good Mexican beer selection with the usual favorites. I didn't eat anything besides chips and salsa (the hot salsa was excellent) but will for sure try the food soon and update this review when I have.

Weird. This place hasn't changed a bit in the dozen or so years since I was last here. Came for the novelty act of watching my friends drink $3 Long Islands, stayed for the food. I had a chicken burrito with ranchero sauce, and it was a-ok. The service kind of bothered me. When I arrived my friends were already hip deep in happy hour, sitting in the dining room and decided to relocate to the bar before I could order my food. The waiter from their table, from whom I had gotten a menu, followed us to the bar and kind of sternly said to me "Are you going to order ANYTHING!?" Naw dude, I just wanted to look at the pictures. When it was time to leave, I had to chase the guy down for my bill. I thought both counts were pretty strange. Altogether decent food, but the service bugged me. I might return if I'm back in my old 'hood, but wouldn't trek across town.

Great place. I had not come here for a few years because I admittedly forgot about the place. Came here with my family and it is even better than I remember! Food was great! Service was excellent! Overall a great value and a great place to get your Mexican food fix!

I was pleasantly surprised when we last went to Los Mariachis. I had eaten there a few years ago and the food was very mediocre. This time the food was quite fresh and very tasty. Both the tostadas and the tacos were well above average Mexican food. The place sure could use some maintenance, but the service was both prompt and friendly.

If you could associate food with a person, the tacos that I ordered would've been Hitler, or at least Stalin. I am not sure what kind of animal was hastily shoved inside that stale, tasteless shell, but I'm pretty sure it was not a domesticated kind, and most likely died on its own somewhere behind a freezer. I felt the need to rinse my mouth out with bleach after a horrible aftertaste of damp socks after you wear them to the gym for several days. The waitress looked like she would rather have her teeth extracted with rusty needle nose pliers than wait on our table, and the service matched. All would've been forgiven if they didn't have such tastebud-raping food.

One of my guilty pleasures. I dress down to go here, and usually it is not so busy. I could drink their salsa, the flavor is always a bit different but somehow always delicious. All you can eat salsa with unlimited chips quickly melts it's way to my heart. Steak fajitas are great, as are the steak or beef tacos, chicken burritos are solid too. Can't go wrong with their menu, and cheap to boot.

We visited Los Mariachis for lunch today. It was kind of creepy, like it was abandoned, envision the scene from Roadhouse when he finds his buddy dead. There was music playing and no customers. The server was also the hostess but she managed the crowd well. She was really friendly and took good care of us. The food is fresh and very tasty. We both had enchiladas. My husband finished mine off as it was a lot of food. Not my favorite but worth going back to.

This is my 2nd time visiting this establishment, the first since new owners took it over. My review if I would have left one for the old owners would have been 1 star given the horrible service and the bad food that left me doing disgusting things in the bathroom. With the new owners, there is improvement. We went on Friday night and they had a free taco bar for those people just chilling and drinking at the bar. We went during happy hour, however I will say that the discount wasn't that great given they only gave you 50 cents off a pitcher. They also had mariachis there that night and we always enjoy them. We did not eat there, however the food looked good. The reason for 3 stars, is I need to try the food before I rate them higher. That will come soon. Overall appearance is that the place did not change, it is very roomy and for a Friday night not real busy. I'm hoping with new mgmt in there, that they will pick up.

Excellent find for our weary crew of interstate travelers. Don't be intimidated by the sort of drab exterior. Fresh salsa...good service...Mariachi music...affordable. We had the super burrito with chile verde...suiza chicken enchiladas...veggie enchiladas and beef enchiladas. I recommend asking for a side of the house hot sauce. Kick your ass hot and very tasty. Highly recommended

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We have been coming here for about 9 years. My bad review isn't about the food; I expect gut wrenching bowel movements from this kind of Mexican restaurant. My issue is the service. The last 6 or 7 visits, spanning over about 2 years, we always get the same waitress. She has been there for years and I assume the only reason she has not been fired is because she is family, maybe, somehow; she appears to be Mexican and Japanese? She does not appear to like her job, my husband and I, or our friends, who also used to frequent the restaurant with and without us. We are courteous, low-maintenance, very well tipping customers, even when the service is bad. And it is always bad because we always get her. She doesn't smile. She doesn't check back with you. She really doesn't like people who prefer to drink water. She seems so annoyed to have to take your order (literally sighing on more than a few occasions) that I wanted to leave after placing our order during our last visit, but my husband wasn't so keen on that. I suggested Mariachi's to some friends about a year ago and they got the same waitress and said she was so horrible they would never go back. There are other good Mexican restaurants in the area (Jalapeno Loco) where I get better service and they will be getting our business from now on. Any business that would continue to employ a sour-puss like this waitress should not be surprised when their restaurant is empty, as Mariachis often is. Besides her, we love Mariachis. The guacamole is the best ever; even better than my own. Pollo Tepic is to die for. Good Daiquiri's (I can't handle tequila!) To bad she had to ruin the restaurant for us and at least 4 others we know.

OK there are some design issues with the place that go on and on for years, but they are constantly renovating (or fixing broken things, I haven't decided) the property since I first move by the restaurant. Great location. Thing is the owners care about the place enough to constantly change things, I appreciate that in a small joint like this. Food is good, to start you get FREE chips and salsa, FREE refills! so its worth it to go in. They also hose a banquet area ( I believe 2 separate) , and one has the big TV, karaoke, lights, the nice bar for the games I assume. The inside is done very Mexican traditional, they have redone it 2x since I have been going, and it gets better every time. Chips are fresh, salsa is good and fresh, and the food is savory. Meaning here that they use upper level ingredients compared to processed chains which is KEY when you have a business like this. The prices are fair, medium range in the industry around the area, and the food portions are med/high in generosity. Service is ok, but sometimes is slows with the rush (as to be expected). I have had chimis, chicken quesadillas, tacos, and the taste is upper level to me with the meat and cheese parts generous. The meat has good taste and the ingredients are not overpowering. This place may not beat out your heart strong favorite Mexican eatery, but its thumbs up and dang close. I reco.

Close to home, but had been shy to try....heard some unflattering comments from people asked. Saw"new management" signs, and good reviews on yelp, so decided to risk a lunch....so glad we did! Great value....$5.75 for lunch specials....wow! Way above average rice& beans on the side, and really tasty entrees...pork chimi....yum, chips & salsa good, too. W ent back a week later and reaffirmed how much we enjoyed it. Dinner prices look good....expect to be regulars.......yum yum yum

Nothing was bad, but nothing was great, either. Chips were OK, but the "hot" salsa was a major snore. The steak burrito was lacking flavor, and the promised hot green sauce over the top never materialized. My brother also said his food was rather bland.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
