My son and I went for the first time today and we got apple fritter, cruller, cake coconut, jelly filled & coffee. Each variety was up to expectations for a good donut shop. My son said that the jelly donut didn't have enough filling. My cruller was the best and the cake donut was ok. The deal breaker and the reason for 3 stars is the coffee. I might have been a good roast but I couldn't tell bc it was too weak. You get 1 free refill which is kind of ok but not generous. I mean how much coffee can a person drink? I like the decor. You can get 18 donuts for $11ish--nice deal for a crowd. The people were really nice. You should go there.

Located near the state fairgrounds just a few blocks to the west, this place is sort of a divey-looking diner/donut shop. The sign could have been popular in the 60s and 70s but seems out of time in the present. But I'm not there to eat the sign. I'm there for the doughnuts. We came in to check them out and from the moment we walked inside, we knew we would not come out empty-handed. The scent of the fresh doughnuts permeated through everything, like a sweet vanilla in the air. I got an apple fritter. It was crisp and melted away as I ate it. Unreal. My little guy got his usual favorite - the white-frosted long john. It was bigger and tastier than the Dunkin version, so he went for 2 of them. Honeydip is a great independent donut shop and diner. Well worth stopping here if you are in the west Milwaukee area.

Nice people. I thought my donuts seemed a little stale the last few mornings I've gone there. Note: I ate them immediately after purchasing. My mom and aunt both thought theirs were just fine so it might have been only the particular ones I chose that were out awhile. So take this review with a grain of salt. Better than store bought box donuts but its a lower volume place so you can't expect the soft gooeyness of fresh Krispy Kreme donuts or anything like it.

Rarely have I experienced such delightful, customer focused service. My daughter was celebrating her birthday and announcing she was expecting a baby and so wanted to take doughnuts to work. I called to request six dozen doughnuts and expected some resistance for not ordering 24hours in advance. Boy was I surprised when the lady was soo helpful on the phone. Not a hint of irritation for short notice. I told her I would be by in 45 minutes. When we arrived our order was waiting for us. The lady behind the counter asked my daughter if this was a special occasion ? When my daughter told her it was her birthday she immediately received a complimentary doughnut. Then the lady offered my wife and I each a complimentary doughnut as well. There were some delicious looking apple fritters in the case and I said I would like to buy one. The super friendly lady threw one of them in as well After experiencing this level of service I would definitely return to that store again. My daughter, who has few things that look appetizing to her in her condition, said she has found a new favorite place. If you have not been to this doughnut shop I would encourage you to stop by and experience excellent customer care.

I love mom-and-pop donut shops. Unfortunately, this place didn't meet my standards. The donuts were dry. The coffee was terrible--it was so weak, I'm sure it was just brown water. For a family-owned business, I also expected better service. My fiancé had asked for no milk in his coffee, but the lady behind the counter still put milk in it.

This place is amazing! Way better donuts that dunkin' donuts, and it just has a charm to it. Great coffee, excellent donuts and honestly, I can't find a donut place in the US better than this one. The place hasn't been remodeled since the late seventies/ early 80s. It just has that 1980s feel to it. Its almost like stepping into a time machine (if you ignore the HD flatscreen TV) The only thing I wish they had is free wifi. I go to school around here and I would love to come study here some day. I usually go to brueggers, but they are such a rip off and this place is so much quieter and has better coffee. The coffee is much weaker than brueggers or Starbucks which I like better. Plus the guy who runs it is very nice. Hard to understand the thick accent at times, but I always enjoy his company. :)

So much better than DD or other chains! Always very fresh and delicious! Plus the man who's always working when we've been in (I'm assuming he's the owner?) is very nice. He gave my daughter a long john this morning and it made her day :) Definitely a must try when you have a hankering for donuts.

i was visiting milwaukee from out of town and needed to use a bathroom. honeydip donuts not only had a bathroom, they also had a donut selection and an old school diner feel, complete with a group of patrons all over the age of 65. no lies. it was better than people watching at the mall - and i got a donut out of it!

This place has the feel of an old diner, and I was definitely skeptical based on the looks of my place upon my visit... but they had a large selection of donuts, and the dough actually had a better consistency (fluffy, fresh, not stale) than other donut shops in the area (that generally taste like "gas station donuts"). I think the donuts (e.g., the glazed) could be a LOT better if they put more glaze/frosting on them. They seem to skimp a bit for whatever reason.
