I wanted to try this place and I was not disappointed. It looks divvy and it is. The building looks like a house on top and the restaurant on first floor. Its right in the middle of a residential are and looks out of place. Don't let the looks fool you. The place is small with booths and tables. There is a lot of dark wood with light walls. There is a bar area so I would have a cocktail today. People were waiting to get in because it was full at 11:30 and I got the last table. Service was great from the start and I was quickly seated and given a menu. I will post pictures of the menu since I could not find an on line one. I started with a lime margarita which is my first one in life and I liked it but nothing to compare it to. It was refreshing with a good lime flavor. I new I would get the lucky # 13 after looking at it, come on you have to try the combination plate if you have not been here before. This is something I would not order because I'm a taco/burrito guy but not today. You get a hard beef taco, tostada, enchilada, chunky beef with sauce, rice, beans and corn tortillas. See the pictures. I forgot how good hard shell ground beef tacos are. The enchilada was cheese and onion. The chunky beef with beans and rice in the corn tortilla was good. The beans were good along with the rice. The tostada looked good and I'm sure it's just as good as everything else but I didn't get to it yet, it's a big plate of food for me and I had a box to go. This was a great way to sample the menu and I'm glad I did something different. Over all this Was a great place and my food was very good, my cocktail was good and the service was great so what more could you ask for. Like I have always practiced you have to get out of your neighborhood and into others. Two thumbs up.

When I came to this place, I felt like I was back in Guadalajara once more. Heck, I felt like I was in Mexico. The food was authentic, the staff was friendly, and the overall atmosphere had a feel that felt like home. This was my first time at this establishment and I ordered the enchiladas. Even though the enchiladas themselves did not have much flavor, when eaten with the rice and beans, they were delicious and the flavor was not too overwhelming. Will definitely return.

Cheap, delicious Mexican food. It doesn't get much better. I recommend you get the guacamole and pico de gallo. They are delicious! Watch out for the hot sauce - the orange one is lethal. But the green and red are tasty. I usually get either tacos or tostadas. Nothing fancy here, but deliciousness abounds.

Stopped here to grab chips and guac getting on to the highway out of Milwaukee. Guac was awesome, chips were fresh. Haven't tried much more but all indicators I sampled were delicious.

This is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. The food is authentic, family made Mexican food prepared with love. Everything is good, quick and cheap! Other Mexican places near by sell warmed up frozen food. Give it a try you will love it!

i was extremely excited to try this place out, i had heard a couple good reviews about how authentic this place was and how great they were all around. i knew it was a hole in the wall and it was a hike to get there from where i live, but i went with good mexican on my mind so i didnt care... authenticity, ill give them that, they were a little less tex mex and a little more mex mex. so authentic in fact that they had a cd player that skipped through a few songs and nobody seemed to notice. also during our meal a couple of neighborhood kids came in and hung out right at the bar, and left, and came back, and left and came back... this got kind of annoying especially because it was 29 degrees out and we were sitting by the door. the waitress or bartender really didnt seem to mind either, the waitress was actually more interested in chatting with these kids than she was waiting on us. waters sat empty, check sat on the table, chips sat empty. ok enough complaining... the food. it was good. the guacamole was probably the highlight of the meal, not as chunky as i normally like but the flavor was spot on. i had the combo platter so i could try a few things (taco, tosdada, and enchilada)... my girlfriend had the chili relleno... i was jealous. my food was not bad but it was all semi bland if i am allowed to say that about mexican food. and the weirdest part was that it wasnt very hot when it came out... you know normally you have to dodge the plate at a mexican restaurant... id say the food was fairly traditional, but over priced... my suggestion is that if you are looking for really good cheap mexican food in the area go to conejitos. that place rocks. we had more food there and two margaritas for the same price as two meals and some guac at guadalajara...

Sub-par Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices. Do not come to this establishment for the decor, as it is rather scummy. Great for take out on your lunchbreak though. The dishes served are a little more culturally infused than other Walkers Point tex-mex restaurants, which is a plus if you're looking for something slightly more adventurous than chimichangas and enchiladas, both of which are on the menu.

Very authentic, really good home-made style Mexican dishes from a family-run restaurant. I love this place because its very non-assuming nature of the decor is a perfect compliment to the food, which I appreciate for being fresh and wholesome. I love taking the family here for cozy meal without the hassle of the larger Mexican restaurants.

I've been going here for a couple of years now, and even before remodeling I wouldn't have called it a "hole in the wall," but now that they have spruced the interior up, I think it's bright, cozy, comfortable, and attractive. On the inside at least, the outside still isn't much to look at. The food is authentic Northern Mexican, Mexican-American, good for breakfast (I love the chilaquiles, the coffee is always fresh), lunch (get the tacos Mexican style, steak with onions and cilantro on corn tortillas, not gringo-American style), or dinner (I'm a big fan of the goat, but it might be too spicy for some). Much more reasonable prices and the food is far superior to the larger establishments catering to the white suburban crowds nearby on Third off National. Right off I-43 (National exit), just west on 10th street, this is mostly a neighborhood restaurant, but I have bumped into people coming from as far away as Chicago or Minneapolis, to eat here. It might be the location, I do recommend this place for travelers who want to escape the usual Interstate exit fast food trap, you can easily get on and off I-43 north or southbound en route through Milwaukee to eat here. They serve a good margarita, have a limited but good selection of Mexican beer, parking is easy on the street. It's a nice, friendly, family run joint, and although there's no shortage of little, authentic, tasty family run Mexican restaurants in the area, this one is probably my favorite.

Some of the best authentic Mexican tacos in Milwaukee. I come from Milwaukee's east side just to get the tacos. They have a good selection of food, the drinks are well balanced. The service is great. The pico de gallo is amazing, has a little bit of a fresh bite of radish. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone who would like a break from texmex, or likes classic Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
