What can I say? I'm a yelp "regular" here. I have only (and will only) gone here for the lunch special, which is ~$14 for unlimited sushi (special lunch menu only) and buffet. Come hungry. The sushi is good, I've definitely had better elsewhere in the city, but it definitely does the job. When I have a craving and don't want to shell out on a proper sushi dinner, a quick lunch here hits the spot. The restaurant is really clean. The buffet is well maintained which means Fushimi gets major points because a gross buffet is just the worst. The service is consistent and quality. If you're looking for a meal to wow, I'd try Kanpai, but if you are looking for a good fix Fushimi is the spot!

Hmmm. I've tried several different places for lunch and wasn't too impressed with this one. With so many options with sushi, I can't justify ordering from here again. I did take out on a random weekday afternoon for lunch. I order the Kani salad and some generic sushi they had. Delivery was quick, but the price was a little high for the amount, quality and taste of what I received. Overall, not impressed. Might be back, but like I said, there are so many different options, why settle?

My son and I came to Milwaukee for the weekend, and for some reason he has been on a sushi rampage- oh so terrible!. We had lunch here. Service was ok, place was packed because of the buffet, which explains right? To me though, if I go to a sushi restaurant I want my fish to be the star. I want it big and flavorful, juicy, melty... The tuna avocado here was like that; big chunks of freshness and the rice was not too sticky or too vinegary (mistakes I commonly find). The spicy salmon had tempura crumbs (ewe!) and a bit too greasy for my taste (and it seemed like lots of their rolls here were loaded with mayo and stuff like that, but still we are on vacation so...) This restaurant is neither pretentious nor fancy-I would not come here on a date or special occasion-yet we will come back in the fall and winter for another fix while we are feeling chilled and flowy. I give it three stars!

I struggled with this review. I wanted to fall in love with this place but alas, I couldn't bring myself to. The boyfriend and I came here after watching a movie at The Oriental. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated by the welcoming staff. Judging by the interior, what's not to love? Clean, sleek, and the furniture (the bar, the buffet, and some of the light fixtures) emanated a pretty blue glow. Our server was lovely. The overall staff was pleasant. Unfortunately, it's the food that prevented me from loving this place. We ordered the "Sushi for Two," and we weren't impressed. Every fish should have its own discernible taste and texture. Excluding the shrimp, all the sushi kind of tasted the same. The California Roll was okay. I liked the Shrimp Tempura Roll a little more, but I felt there was too much filler (rice, tempura, cucumbers) and not enough shrimp. By the end of the meal, I was full but I wasn't satisfied. Like I said before, the employees were nice but the food wasn't enough for me to want to come back. Since there are better sushi options in Milwaukee, I'm going to have to say farewell to Fushimi.

Sushi has to be one of my favorite foods! I am originally from chicago and I have tried a LOT of different sushi restaurants. Fushimi has to be the BEST one I've had so far. Typically I only come for their lunch buffet special and always end up overeating. Their buffet has a great selection. The lo mein and fried rice are amazing. But even better is the sushi itself. I've had all of the maki creations and the Santa roll is by far my favorite. I don't think I've had sushi better than this restaurant. Only downside is that they get very busy and the servers can become inattentive of their tables.

Good sushi buffet in MKE! Sushi was always fresh and the selection of hot buffet options are also excellent.

It's almost weird that this place isn't in a strip mall. Because everything about it makes you think it should be. The decor is a bit forced, trying to look much more elegant than it actually is (woodgrain coated plastic is everywhere). But it you take it for what it is - AYCE very middle of the road sushi and a buffet, then you won't be too disappointed. Actually the best advice I was given by a veteran diner was to eat as little as possible from the buffet. The rices (white and chicken fried) were rather dry and none of the selections really boasted a quality vibe so it was easy to heed to this warning. We were here for rolls and rolls is what we did. The names covered all the usual suspects with fancy glossy pictures and very little description to accompany them. But we forged through and make our selections. What I found most interesting is that every roll, no matter the ingredients, everything tastes pretty much the same. The eel and the shrimp tasted a similar shade of listless. The ponzu sauce and the fish sauce and the oyster sauce also tasted like cheap imitations of each other. Everything pretty much blended together. But one can only expect so much for an $11.95 AYCE deal! Had I never had truly great Japanese I may have had an easier time accepting this. But knowing what some other Milwaukee places are doing, for similar costs, this fell a bit flat for me.

    (3)
  • Rachel F.

Update! So the service is still friendly, the AYCE thing is still fun (order/try ALL THE MAKI!) but sadly, this sushi is pretty straightforward middle of the road and nothing to write home about. Of the five different rolls we ordered, only two were to my liking. (The Godzilla and Volcano rolls were both solid, but not mind-blowing.) The sweet potato roll? Bad... stale nori and very little sweet potato to a crapton of tempura, almost laughable and definitely inedible. (I mean, it was edible, I guess, but we didn't eat it.) Bottom line: if you want to stuff your face with tons of maki for one low(-ish) price, this is an okay place to do it. That said, the buffet still kind of weirds me out and there are other sushi options in MKE (though there aren't that many!) that I'd hit up before Fushinami moving forward.

I should have listened to my fellow Yelpers. I should have searched longer and harder for a better sushi lunch spot. But I did neither of those things. This location is close to work, so a coworker and I thought it would be great to try out. The price is right for buffet and a decent selection of sushi. We happily loaded up a place with tiny tastes of the buffet, which were pretty good. I'd say 3.5 stars on that, but looking at other reviews it could be hit-or-miss. Our sushi arrived! Yay! Wait. It all....looks the same. We each ordered three rolls, all 6 of which looked just like the last with teensy differences. First bite. Second...bite. Disappointment. There was twice the usual amount of rice you see on sushi rolls, which I imagine they do to make you too full to order more, which is bullshit since the buffet is the trick to fill you up. Because of the insane amount of rice, the rolls were SO SO dry and completely flavorless. I scraped off the rice in order to taste something, which kind of worked. A bright point is that we were seated right away, the staff was really attentive, and the seaweed salad on the buffet was killer. But I will not be returning here.

Nice decor, super slow service and the worst sushi I've yet to have. Really embarassing, rolls consisted of 80-90% of rice and cucumber. I'll upload a picture, almost the majority of all sushi here had this consistency. 1/5, never again, not even for free.

Stuck between a 3 and a 4. In all honesty depending on what time of the day you go it could be either. All you can eat sushi is definitely intriguing and you have to accept that you're getting what you pay for. The buffet is hit or miss. Sometimes they have really good sesame chicken, sometimes it's inedible chewy squid that has been sitting there for way too long. The fried rice is usually clumpy and old but the veggie tempura is always crisp. The rolls are very traditional. Some of them better than others. I will eat dragon/caterpillar rolls at every sushi restaurant and love every bite. The maki however makes this place totally worth it. Yellowtail is amazing, and the Kani is one of my favs. They have tons of variety to choose from. Really nice if you don't know what types you like and just want to try them all! They also have a pretty nice cocktail menu and sake! They have a basil strawberry drink that is delicious and another with cider that I love. The service is mediocre and the waitresses can be downright insulting about the amount you order. Last time I went I ordered two rolls and two maki and the waitress cut off my friend before he could order as if that's all both of us were eating. Checking in on Yelp gets you 10% off your bill which is probably why I keep going back.

My husband and I came here on a whim. We drove by and decided to stop in. We were very impressed. For just under $24 per person we could eat from the buffet and order anything we wanted from the menu as well. The quality of the food was absolutely amazing. The only thing we didn't like was that they will charge you for excessive waste but they don't explain what they consider to be excessive so while we were eating, that thought was in the back of our minds. Luckily we weren't charged anything for excessive waste.

I just want to start out by clarifying that the name of the restaurant is actually Fushimi. Not sure why it is listed as Fushinami. Okay. Now for the review. I met with a friend here for dinner on a Wed night. She highly recommended this place, and I can see why. They have a really good sushi selection to choose from. They also have a buffet, which includes all you can eat sushi. The food from the buffet is a bit limited as far as selection goes. But in a way, at least for me, that's not a bad thing. Sushi was the main reason for my visit in the first place. If you do go for the buffet option, do not fill up on the buffet food. Otherwise, you won't have enough room to try the many sushi selections. Some of the sushi has cute and funny names, such as the Sexy Girl Roll. My friend and I tried that roll, as well as several others. We loved every one that we tried. I think we enjoyed our sushi a bit too much, though, because we were stuffed by the end of the meal. But it was so worth it. A lovely glass of Moscato topped my meal off perfectly. I will be back to this place, for sure.

Fushinami- you beautiful, beautiful establishment of wonders. Wonders that not only occupy the bountiful buffet, but extend to the lengthy menu. Wonders that are affordable and most of all UNLIMITED. Yes I am talking about the buffet. For 12.95, the lunch buffet, there's really no better deal you can get. I mean unless of course you want to keep a model figure because with these dishes, it's impossible to stop yourself. What really gets me is the unlimited seaweed salad and the stuffed mushrooms (totally not Japanese but so delicious). And the days they have frog legs? THE BEST. Okay so the food in the buffet isn't 5-star, it's more like food court food. The twist? You have a whole menu with unlimited sushi and sashimi options. Okay that's a lie, they do cap your pieces of sashimi at some ridiculous amount- like 30 or so. But even with that the meal is no longer a meal, but a challenge. They have the classic simple rolls as well as a variety of fancy specialty rolls that have a bangin' party in your mouth. My favorite roll is the Outstanding roll...I can't even tell you what's in it I just know it's dirty with delicious flavors. And no matter how much sushi you get, the presentation doesn't falter. If you want to eat like a monster for under $15, this is definitely the place to go. They even have a parking lot so you don't have to walk to far in your post-buffet devouring, food-coma state.

Food is very good, nice selection and all sushi made fresh. Wait staff is usually quite nice too. Make sure you check your bill though, we had a wrong price or additional item on our bill every time so far! Not so nice experience during last visit: cleaning and turning off music 20minutes before buffet ends when we were the last customers

This was an ok experience for me with ok food. About $13 per person for all you can eat buffet and certain suhi selections. Josh B. is right, don't make the rookie mistake of filling up on the buffet! The buffet was ok but most things just weren't kept hot enough. I took it easy on the sushi ordering, too because I always get too much due to my medical condition of my eyes being bigger than my stomach. I chose the Godzilla roll and it was alright. The server did a great job of attending to our large party.

Came here on news years eve with a couple friends for the lunch buffet. Since it was a "holiday" we were told that they were only serving the full dinner buffet for the dinner price. While annoying, it wasn't a deal breaker and should've been expected I guess. Atmosphere is much nicer than I expected. The hot bar has some pretty delicious picks - the lobster/shrimp/squid dishes in particular. The seaweed salad was still partially frozen but it was yummy once defrosted. Don't fill up here though!! Sashimi quality is what you would expect from a sushi buffet- not great. The pieces were very small too. Stick with salmon and the fatty tuna in my opinion. The best deal here are the specialty rolls. We tried five kinds and they were all very delicious. If you come here for lunch I think it is really an amazing value for the quality of specialty rolls you get. Dessert left a lot to be desired but hopefully everyone knows asian cuisines are not known for desserts anyway. Enjoy all the seafood you can here!!

I love Fushimi! They're buffet deals are completely worth it. I prefer going at night, the environment is very upbeat and fun! The sushi and egg drop soup are both amazing. I recommend it all.

2 out 5. Okay, this is my truthful, honest review. Before I went to this place, I saw the rating was less than 4 stars on Yelp. But most photos looked great so my family and I decided to try. well..we had all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, and here's what I experienced: 1. Very slow service - we went there at around 3PM and this place wasn't busy at all. We were sitting close to sushi bar, so we could see that our platter was ready. However, our server never serve it..(Man, I wanted to get up, grab those plates and serve them to our table myself) Also, all sushi guys there, i guess, succeeded in slacking off after much practice that all the sushi rolls came out so late. If you are gonna order more sushi, make sure you order while you are chewing your first dish. That way, you can get your next dish right on time. 2. Sushi weren't that good - After waiting more than 20 minutes, we finally got our first plate of sushi rolls and they were disappointment. Too much rice and too little fish. I admit that it's $20 sushi buffet, but I've been to many other sushi buffet so I know it wasn't good. They have nice decor, and it felt good as walking into this place. I'm giving 2 stars: one for decor, and another one for eel sushi and red snapper sashimi. But when I was leaving, I was full of frustration and a bit of anger. I'll look for other sushi places, so GOODBYE to Fushimi.

I'm not a buffet person, by any means. I like to eat snacks, a dozen times throughout the day- I don't want to be filled up by one giant meal. That said, this is the greatest buffet idea, because its freakin SUSHI. you can eat loads and not feel like a big ole fatty/comatose. My only suggestion is to skip the buffet while you're waiting for your MADE TO ORDER sushi roll. that's right- any roll you want, made to order. same price. also- don't be a poohead and order more than you can eat. order one roll at a time. for one, they will charge you if you're the biggest Poohead and have loads of leftovers, plus they don't let you take any to go. but i think that might be standard for every buffet anywhere? anyways, its good. get the speciality rolls-- i.e. Godzilla.

Okay, first of all, it's called Fushimi, not Fushinami. Weird...totally threw me off. But anyway, I finally got to give this place a try and I loved it! Very comparable to Akita's in St. Paul but quantity and taste were better! 8 pieces came with each roll of sushi (and they were BIG too! I was expecting little slices... boy, did I stuff my face!). One of the best things I liked about this place was that while my husband and I were waiting for our sushi, we helped ourselves to the buffet. It reminded me of a Chinese buffet with fried rice, fried egg noodles, veggie stirfry, some kind of deep fried chicken in a sweet sauce... so we weren't expecting it to taste amazing. But boy, first bite, it was delish!! And we came in at 3:00 when the food wasn't super fresh but the taste was still top notch. I would say that's probably the only reason why I'm not putting 5 stars instead of 4. Shrimp tempura, delicious, side salad with ginger dressing was yummy, and the recommendations for sushi were just so sooo good... Spicy Santa, Godzilla, Volcano, and the eel rolls were worth it. The typical california and shrimp tempura rolls were good too. And customer service was great! Because we only ordered sushi for one round before lunch hour ended at 3:00, our server gave us a little box to pack some home.

This place was 'alright.' The all-you-can-eat concept is cool for a sushi place but I don't eat/order enough to get the full value out of the dinner price. It is definately a good value for big eaters and those who want to try a bit of everything. I got some miso from the buffet- I wanted to save room for rolls and none of the other items looked particularly appetizing. The maki and specialty rolls were fine, not great. Also, I waited at least 15 minutes longer than the rest of my party of 6 for my rolls to be brought out. . . and we ordered at the same time. . ? I'm in customer service so obviously I wasn't rude about it, but it was still disappointing.

The place is actually called Fushimi. But everywhere on the Internet it is called Fushinami for some odd reason. Anyway, the sushi restaurant is really nice when you walk it. It feels really fancy for a buffet. It has beautiful tables, and all around the restaurant there are cherry blossoms that make it look nice. Lunch is actually $13.95 now instead of $12.95. They told us upfront that whatever you don't finish you have to pay so we already knew that before we came in. They don't charge you before you eat which is nice. Service was good. I think it's because lunch time it isn't as busy as dinner time. Still though, the waitress was very nice. Once you get your drinks then you're able to get stuff at the buffet bar which is full of good Japanese food. But don't spoil your appetite lol. I suggest eating in small portions while your sushi is being made up. And the portions of the sushi are just right. Wide variety. My favorite was the chicken tempura roll. Sushi is not as amazing as Kyoto but still good for buffet sushi. If you're super hungry this is the place to go!

I've put this review off for awhile. It's a sort of uncanny place for me, because generally I associate buffets with being a place to get cheap, not very good food. Fushinami (Fushimi?) is not that sort of place. You're gonna drop some cash here, but you're going to get some really outstanding food. The regular buffet is good enough as it is. It has most of the standard Asian buffet items, but they're actually kept replenished and fresh. They're not fooling anyone though, the real draw is the all-you-can-eat sushi and maki. They've got a good mix of traditional maki and more adventurous plates (like the Hawaii roll, which has banana). I can't say all of the more experimental dishes are successful, but overall my impression is that almost everything that sounds like it should be good is good, with a few rolls standing above the rest (spicy santa, sexy girl, and spider, to be specific). I was there with a big group, probably around a dozen people or so. It didn't seem like it was a big deal for them to accommodate us with a reservation, which was great. Service started off great but did plateau quickly after (despite the restaurant getting less busy). It seemed like as the night goes on they begin to visit your table less and give you fewer opportunities to order. There would also be bits when there was no sushi chef at his station, so it would take awhile for things to show up. It's worth the wait though, because really...can you beat all-you-can-eat made to order sushi? Just be aware that this is a pretty rule-heavy place. You can only order so many pieces of sashimi, and if you have more than a few pieces leftover at the end of the night they'll charge you for the waste. As long as you know this stuff going in (and they'll be sure to tell you) and act accordingly, you shouldn't have any problems there. As an aside, this place just *feels* cool. Maybe I'm a sucker for glass and fancy lights, but Fushinami feels like the sort of place you'd find in a much larger city.

Sushi rice was balanced and al dente. Squid had a funky finish but salmon was creamy. Overall fish was cut too thin but what else would you expect from an all you can eat sushi place? Overall, very much worth 14 dollars for all you can eat.

    (4)
  • Mytoan N.

The buffet was rather thin during an odd hour we ate here (a second time). But, what we did eat was better than I expected. Surprisingly, the lobster in ginger sauce was rather delightful. I must have eaten an entire lobster given the number of visits I made to the buffet. We also ordered a few standard rolls - the spider roll, California rolls, salmon rolls, rainbow rolls, etc. Nothing spectacular but we did eat every last bite. We used the 10% discount checking in as a yelp reviewer.

Great price for the all you can eat sushi. It takes a long time for the sushi to be made. The selection at the food bar is not good.

Fast for days or run a half marathon prior because the games begin once you enter the restaurant. Seems to be the consensus that the buffet is average. This was definitely the case during my visit to Fushinami. The sushi was highlight of the visit. You can order unlimited amounts to your heart's content, but be sure to finish what you eat! Safest bet is to stick with the more common kinds of sushi (e.g. salmon, tuna, spicy rolls, "designer" rolls), and your experience will likely be a good one. The salmon was definitely very good, as were the rainbow and spider rolls. The red snapper was a little funky smelling (beyond the fishiness you usually get), so I'd stay away from it. On to the buffet. Fushinami does offer a pretty good variety of things from Chinese fare, such as fried rice and stir fries, to tempura and oysters. A lot of the stuff tastes like it had been sitting around all day and the staff doesn't really do a good job in replenishing what is gone. Hell, but for the price, I cannot complain. I'm not sure whether I'd return for dinner (~$23), but I'd certainly go back for lunch (~$12). If you have a big stomach, this is definitely your place. Look of it as sort of the Asian version of Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral.

This is by far the best sushi for your dollar! Their buffet is amazing, always small batches so good is fresh constantly! Sushi is amazing!!! And best value! I mean come on, some of the rolls are $15+ but it you get the sushi and buffet you can order as many $15 dollar rolls as your heart can take! So good! Recommend to any and everyone!

Food is alright. There are a few hot dishes that ware good. Sashimi is limited per table which was annoying. Servers were extremely rude...

  • Michael G.

I have eaten at Fushimi 4 times. 3 lunches and 2 dinners. The first time was great, however the quality of the product has slipped, and the amount of fish and restrictive rules are annoying. The fish is now paper thin for the Sushi, the Sushimi is very small pieces and now you can only order 10 pieces for the whole table. The rolls have allot more fake crab and cheap veggies like lettuce. The hot bar is not fresh, the chicken was over cooked and dry. The stuffed oysters are cheese and fake crab, the mini lobster are crawfish. Please! We won't be going back!!!

Pro : - very very clean and trendy sushi buffet. - Japanese soda is very cool but the waitress couldn't say the flavors right... - Sushi is alright.... Con : - Buffet food is not very warm. The lamp doesn't heat it up that good. - Not much food choices. - Sushi isn't rolled tightly. - Waitress can't really speak English that good.

I'm glad we tried it but I don't think I would ever rush back here. I'm generally not a fan of buffets. They kind of gross me out and I can't help but imagine all go the creepy crud that is lurking below the surface (I mean, do you REALLY think they throw stuff away at the end of the night? REALLY?) but I toughened up and hit up Fushimi on a Saturday night. The decor is pretty cool. It's trendy and all the lights change colors so that's something. Even though you'll like the decor, the first thing you'll notice is that it feels like a steam room in the dining area, with the particularly unpleasant bonus of smelling like hot fish. Seriously, I've been to fish markets that smell less like fish than Fushimi. What is up with that? Someone needs to look into that because it can't be normal. I went to a sushi restaurant the size of my living room one time, and it had no odor. Why does this place smell like Poseidon's ass crack? The service is alright. Since it's partially a buffet restaurant, it's hard to judge just how good the servers are (or aren't). There were a few items I liked on the buffet - stuffed mushrooms and pepper shrimp. On the other hand, the octopus was waaaay overdone so a food that normally has a rubbery texture was cooked to the approximate firmness of a truck tire - pretty much inedible. I tried one crab leg and I got kind of freaked out because it was...juicy? I don't know, guys. Hot, watery crab legs just seem like how diarrhea was invented. The sushi takes 1000 years to prepare even if it is practically empty in there. This is obviously a tactic to get everyone to fill up at the buffet, but even when the rolls finally came, I wasn't exactly blown away. They weren't rolled tightly and since I have pretty rudimentary chopstick skills, I mostly ended up scooping up rice with my fingers (GERM POLICE!) Also, chunk tuna in the rolls? I hate that. It seems suspect to me, like they use a filler or something instead of just fish. Even the rolls I get at Whole Foods use whole pieces of fish. All in all, the sushi was not my favorite and sushi is usually ALWAYS my favorite. T says he would definitely come back if they had a buffet only option for a cheaper price but I don't know if I should give them another chance or chalk it up to another lesson learned about buffet restaurants.

Stopped in there for lunch today on their Grand Opening day. Great place and definitely going back... Soon! :) The Food We had the lunch buffet ($12.95). They had a great hot bar with delicious selections. Nothing too huge, but enough variety! Had 2 soups... Fresh fruit and veggies... And a couple of yummy desserts. Sushi and nigiri is made fresh to order. Loved the sushi... And can't wait to try more rolls! My only complaint was that it took about 10 - 15 minutes for the sushi rolls to come out (this could be planned on their part). Atmosphere Cute decor... Lots of space! Presentation of the food was nice, too! Staff Very helpful and attentive! Didn't have to wait long (if at all) for the waiter to come around.

I have just been to this restaurant today, hoping it would be at least average level given it's price. But to my disappointment, the sushi tastes weird and the buffet dishes are mediocre. Worst of all, the waitress has such an attitude that everybody owes her money, definite the worst service I have ever experienced... And the end, they put 15% tip in my total without bothering to let me know... This is so rude and unprofessional... Definitely not coming back... This place sucks!!!

2.5 stars I liked the idea of a sushi buffet with made-to-order rolls. We went at 2pm on V-day to catch the lower price lunch menu. Possibly a fatal mistake! 1. Apparently there is a set price for all day on holidays, $22. 2. The buffet was not well heated and never refilled in our 2 hours there. The rolls were pretty good (tried a variety of maki and sushimi [spelling?]). The service was inexperienced, awkward, and not quick with water (we had to ask twice) or tea refills. The green tea was terrible. Like dishwater. And lukewarm. Overall the rolls were decent, but like other reviewers mentioned, most were draped in spicy mayo. The avocado rolls (plain and simple) were my favorite. To the buffet now. FAIL Fushimi! Many of the hot items were room temperature. Including shrimp. The coconut shrimp was delicious, but was never refilled. So we got to try a piece or two, but it certainly wasn't all you can eat. Overall the buffet had mid-range variety. The edamame was cold. The seaweed salad smelled like bad fish. The crab looked fake. I asked about it and they said it was real...but it was definitely fake in the buffet applications such as crab stuffed oysters (by the way, mayo overload and fishy). Overall, I can't say I'll be back. The buffet wouldn't pass a health inspection and that is really enough to say no to. On top of that, I just didn't feel like I could get my money's worth for the price. Although, that is the psychological game we play with buffets. My favorite remains Kyoto, where you can get a great deal especially at lunch that includes salad, miso, and rolls for less than the buffet price.

If you are on a budget, this place is a good stop for a weekday lunch. However, I would rather spend my money on higher quality sushi. The sushi I was served was not rolled very tightly and fell apart as I picked it up with my chopsticks. The amount of fish they put in the rolls is less than it would be at a normal sushi joint. I didn't like the tempura batter either, but this might be just me. I ordered the eel & cucumber roll (great, but I was brought the eel & avocado roll instead), shrimp tempura roll (ok), salmon roll (good) and the tuna roll (ok...the tuna wasn't the best quality). The buffet portion of the meal was good. Some of the more classic dishes were not impressive. The seaweed salad and stuffed mushrooms were my favorite dishes.

Everyone i come visit Milwaukee from LA, I always go here. That Squid is really good. There's ton of sushi to choose as well, free parking. I don't know a lot of asian restaurants around here but this one approves!

As with most All You Can Eat sushi houses, the sushi is good, maybe a bit better than good, but not great. Definitely my experience here, a tiny bit above good. The buffet, straight out of an all you can eat Chinese buffet, that by itself was just ok, not even good. Back to the sushi, allot of colorful rolls, sauce heavy rolls, basically artistic rolls dominate their menu. This place is definitely a sushi house created to exist in urban America. Tasty rolls, no doubt! But don't come in here expecting Japanese cuisine, it's not on the menu. All in all, the experience was short of being worth the $23 All You Can Eat price.

OK, first off, I'm an AYCE Sushi snob. If you don't know what AYCE is, well - it's All You Can Eat. I live in Las Vegas, where there's literally an AYCE sushi place on every mile of major roadways, and believe me - I've eaten at a lot of them. While visiting family in MKE, I got a hankering for sushi, so I Googled all you can eat sushi. Fushimi is really the only place that came up, and it seemed to be pretty new. I gathered 3 other people, and we went to see what all the fuss was about on a Friday night around 6:00. We were the first people in the place, and that's perfectly fine with me. Reason? Sushi chefs all to myself. All AYCE sushi places in Vegas have a time limit - 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, but Fushimi doesn't. This is a good thing, but can easily be exploited by fatties looking to eat insane amounts of raw fish. I wouldn't be surprised if their policy changes in the future. Vegas also doesn't have extra buffet items like Fushimi does. To be honest, I didn't eat a lot of the buffet items, but did have some edamame and crab legs. For the price, you definitely get your money's worth here. As I said in the beginning - I'm a sushi snob. I have my staples such as Philly and Rainbow rolls, but my favorite is good old fashioned Yellowtail Nigiri. I probably ate 40 pieces alone that night, and they were delicious. My only gripe is that I'm not a fan of their California roll - which is the groundwork for other rolls. The problem is that they don't have a diced crab mix, but instead a chunk of crab. There was one AYCE place in Vegas that did that, and maybe because I'm used to a diced crab mixture, it just doesn't please my palate. Snobbish, I know - but if you've had both varieties, you know what I'm talking about. Anyhow, my overall verdict was that Fushimi is a value. It seems to be a one of a kind in MKE, and I hope it stays around so I can devour 75 pieces of sushi during my annual Milwaukee visit. By 7:30 when we were leaving, the place had filled up quite a bit, so you're probably better off going earlier than later. Enjoy!

Fantastic food, incredible value, and the service Ping provided was wonderful! I have a new favorite lunch place, and I plan to return soon for dinner. Enjoying my sushi buzz.

Order for delivery, waited for an hour; called them back: yeah they are almost there, never came, the place is closed. Next morning trying to get a reimbursement for a meal that I never got seems to be a big struggle, AVOID!!!

For a made to order all you can eat sushi place, I was impressed. They had a great selection of specialty rolls and had a hot/cold buffet bar with a wide selection of asian food. The buffet was good, not great but I was there for the sushi which was delicious. I would highly recommend the Tiger Roll and stay away from the fruit rolls (kiwi and mango I think). I was there with a group of 10 and the service was great. They cleared plates and filled water very quickly. They ensured we got our orders in quickly so we had sushi coming the whole night.

The sushi is outstanding. You will leave this lunch destination (or presumably dinner as well) as full as can be, knowing you ordered everything that looked interesting. The service is always prompt, the buffet well stocked, and the food delicious. What else could you want? Lunch with soda & tip will be just under $20.00. It is totally worth it.

I drove back and forth on the east side and found street parking...score!! As we walked up to Fushimi, I noticed a fairly good sized parking lot, exclusively for Fushimi...doh!! As we walked through the door, I was impressed by a slick, contemporary dining room. Then we walked past the lunch buffet and I was overwhelmed with the sight of beautiful food. Fried rice, steamed buns, dumplings, sesame chicken, noodles, soups, fruit, etc. the kicker, is that the all you can eat buffet comes with your choice of sushi from the first 3 pages of the menu. I tried the Alaska roll, which is like a California roll with fresh salmon instead of crab stick. I also ordered the peanut and avocado roll. The roll is very crunchy, but for some unknown reason just makes sense. Give it a try! The chicken tempura roll was cold, chicken and all. The chicken is wrapped with a bunch of peeled cucumbers sticks. The buffet food was all off temperature. Even the soups were cold. We had a large group and sat at a long table between the bar and a service island. I noticed in the corner, that there was a door going into a basement or cellar. There was a stench of sewage emanating from the basement. The service was friendly and the food looked good. If they could fix the food temperature issue, I would definitely try again.

I swear I've reviewed this place before but who knows, I eat out too much. We did the AYCE sushi and buffet cause we're fat like that. The buffet serves your typical Asian buffet staples, fried rice, fried noodles, stir fried shrimp, fruits, little cakes, etc. nothing special, I do really like the ginger lobster, those are pretty good but I feel like the food sits there for a while and they usually make everything in small batches. The sushi is made to order and I swear it takes a long time, even when there are not that many people which has been both times I've been, (Mondays or Tuesday). As for the taste of the sushi, again, nothing spectacular, they have the simple rolls, the saucy rolls, they even have sashimi, which is limited, I mean very limited (30 per table, which is stupid cause what if you had like 10 people?) and the servings are TINY for sashimi. *sighs* oh Milwaukee, AYCE sushi is just such a disappointment.

I have been to Kyoto for AYCE eat sushi several times, but I hate driving all the way out there, so I'm really glad Fushimi is so close for those days when I crave tons of sushi. The restaurant is very nicely decorated- I love the cherry blossom branches. Service was sooo friendly! We arrived an hour before closing, and at some buffet restaurants they will rush you through so that they can close, but at Fushimi everyone made sure we were taken care of. The chef even came out and said if any of their buffet items ran out that we wanted they would make a fresh batch for us. The buffet items I tried were good- nothing blew me away, but their sushi was very fresh and delicious. The sashimi pieces are a little on the small side, but then you just order more. We tried a few of their rolls- all were awesome- my favorite was the sexy roll. They seem to have a larger selection of sashimi and roll options than some other AYCE places. For the price, Fushimi's AYCE is a really great deal. I will definitely be coming back soon.

My husband and I love this place. The buffet offers such a variety. Their sushi menu is outstanding. The service is always great. Especially love that we can order as much or as little of the sushi as we want. The buffet allows you to sample any varieties of Asian food without waste in one seating.

Legit. My favorite AYCE in the area is still Kyoto in Greenfield but this is a nice alternative. Pros: Buffet: most of the stuff was pretty good, nice selection of asian staples and fresh fruit to choose from. Price: Thirteen dollar AYCE lunch, can't go wrong. Service: I was there for lunch but service was awesome and fast, waiter was very knowledgable and attentive. Speed: Again this was for lunch, but the sushi came out much faster than at Kyoto. Drinks: Cool drink menu, not overly expensive either. Cons: Sushi rice: The fish was fine, but the rice was not seasoned well and would fall apart before you could get it into your mouth. Sushi means rice! The fish quality was awesome and the special rolls were well balanced, but the rice kills it all for me. Buffet: Some items on the buffet were the wrong temperature, the edamame was cold and that is not delicious. Conclusion: If you are in the area, it is worth the visit.

I was a little confused about how this place works, but I think I've got it down now. 1. Sit down. Order beverages and sushi. 2. Hit the buffet, but with restraint (remember, you've got sushi on the way!). 3. Eat buffet food. 4. Do not receive beverage. 5. Wait a very long time for sushi. Everything is OK, but not anything to write home about. The bathroom is pretty nice.

My metrics show that I rarely give out a two star experience. Part of the rating is bias but it is also Fushimi's inability to break through my bias. "All you can eat sushi" My expense was justified with the trip. I mauled about four rolls and dropped a major hunger bomb on the buffet. However, operationally, I question the sushi I ate and the ability for a sushi place to provide an all you can eat buffet. Everything was a shade off from the strong fishy smell in the back entrance, to the sushi, to the seaweed salad. Despite satisfying my need for volumes of food, I was unsure about what I ate. Our waitress was a bundle of smiles and busy as hell. She refilled our green tea generously and our sushi was always a couple notches slower than your average sushi establishment. Belly filling tactics or an issue with sushi rolling capacity, to be left undetermined. Factually and digestively, everything was a success. So, I am not entirely sure why everything was a shade off. It just was. However, you leave feeling full as a tick.

Ladies and Gentleman. If you have been looking for good sushi, but live on a budget and can't do $40 nights at Izumi's everyday, then you may have found heaven here at Fushimis. I am going to say this right now, their sushi is on par or even better than any other sushi place in town. Did I mention it is also all you can eat? And only $13 for lunch?! Unlike other sushi buffets, Fushimi's is made to order, all you can eat. So you just ask your server for more rolls when you're done. So of course, being a sushi lover, I went down the whole menu, sampling all types of nigiri rolls. My favorites: Yellowtail, White Tuna, and by far my most favorite the Red Snapper. Literally, each roll doused with the appropriate amounts of wasabi is like being in sushi heaven. The traditional rolls were also very solid (with yellowtail being my favorite). This place does NOT skimp out, even if its all you can eat. The only side note is that the food on the regular buffet was a bit dry, but you should only pick out a few items for appetizer anyways till you get your sushi. Service was solid, and the staff is very friendly. I would give this 6 stars if I could. I still cant believe its all you can eat. Let's just hope they keep it up!

Oh. Mah. Gahd. You Guys. Srsly. Guys. Are you a sushi lover that limits yourself to only going out for sushi once-in-awhile because of it's high cost? Or maybe you're new to the sushi scene, and are a little intimidated about branching out and trying new things. Let's face it - who wants to order an expensive sushi roll only to dislike it? The experience would be totally ruined. Or maybe you've never tried sushi at all, and want somewhere safe to explore and nurture your curiosity. Have I got the restaurant for you!!!! Today I experienced Fushimi Sushi Buffet for the first time with a friend of mine, and we were totally blown away by the value and service we received. At lunch time they have an all inclusive buffet featuring three pages of their made-to-order sushi menu (that has a TON of variety, and isn't only cheap lame sushi you find at other all-you-can-eat sushi places) and a solid twenty feet of Asian food buffet featuring an amazing baked Oyster, seaweed salad, miso soup, and the list goes on and on. I thought there must be a hidden cost somewhere. Nope! I had the buffet, two hand rolls, two pieces of white tuna nigiri, and a spider roll for the advertised lunch buffet price of $12.95. Add to that the cost of my green tea and a generous tip for our attentive-but-not-overbearing server, and you still would be hard-pressed to be full at any other sushi restaurant for that price. The buffet alone would be worth that kind of dough with everything on display being fresh and well-presented. Our server was quick to fill our drinks and never let our plates pile up on the table. The decor is lovely, and the place wasn't very busy. My friend and I discussed making this a weekly lunch spot, but then we made ourselves gluttonously full, and thought maybe bi-weekly would be safer.

Fushinami is most likely the best deal for sushi around. I've been there twice and the made to order sushi is really good. The buffet offers some good choices. On a Friday or Saturday night the buffet is well kept and looks fresh. Tonight, on a Wednesday night, it did look like the food had been sitting there awhile. However the sushi is always VERY fresh tasting. For 20 dollars you can eat as much sushi as you want. That's a deal!

A small group of us went during the week for their lunch buffet. We were all first timers to the restaurant. We were seated immediately, and we all noticed how clean it us for a buffet of all places. Our server came by the table rather immediately, informed us how the menu works, and asked if we needed any drinks. Good start. We then headed to the buffet before ordering rolls. You have up to three pages of sushi that you can order off of the lunch menu. It was impressive to say the least. The buffet itself was also impressive. Very clean, and well organized. They had your standard fried rice, noodles, but then you encounter steamed flounder, mussels, steamed boa, teryiaki chicken, mixed seafood in a clam shell, gyoza two ways, soups, and then salads, edamame, and desserts. We were impressed. As we scarfed down a couple of small plates, we then ordered sushi, almost feeling guilty of how much we ordered, but then again, we were there to eat. After all, it is a buffet. We ordered 6 rolls, ranging from dragon rolls to the spicy santa roll. We will admit that for the lunch buffet of 12.95, it was well worth it. Heck, the buffet alone was probably worth it. Our rolls took about 7-10 minutes to make and were well presented. In my opinion, this place was great, and we all agreed that we would return in a heartbeat.

Fushimi is a brand new Sushi Bar and restaurant on Milwaukee's East Side. Located in the old Crank Daddy's building, it has breathed new life into the desolate stretch of Farwell right off of Kenilworth Place. Parking for Fushimi is uncertain at this point. I did not know if I could park in the back parking lot or in the lot across the street. I did not ask if they had designated parking or valet parking. Either way, that stretch of Farwell is not very populated and has plenty of street parking. The interior design is stunning. It's a mix of postmodernism and traditional east-asian culture. There is definitely a lot of space, a full-service bar and seating area, buffet section and then the sushi bar. There are also two private rooms for events. The tables are large enough to comfortably seat up to four people. The chairs are sturdy, balanced and comfortable as well. The different seating areas feature different styles of lighting but overall it is well-lit and doesn't cause any eye-strain. I visited the restaurant during the lunch buffet, so the atmosphere might be different at night. I was greeted immediately upon arrival and seated soon thereafter. Being a new restaurant, I didn't quite know what to expect or how the ordering process worked. It wasn't very clear and I had to ask for advice on how to order. I ended up getting the lunch buffet, which includes unlimited trips to the buffet, plus sushi from the bar. The buffet featured a line of traditional asian cuisine: Fried rice, house lo mien, pot stickers, sesame chicken, white fish, etc. The food seemed freshly prepared. The presentation of the buffet was what appealed to me. Each dish was set on a platter, not a heated buffet server and each had an individual lamp (a heat lamp probably). It was impressive. During my hour-long visit, I observed a chef check the buffet every ten minutes and would continuously refresh and clean the area. The sushi bar itself was staffed with three talented sushi chefs. I ordered a traditional California Roll and was not disappointed. It was prepared quickly and professionally. Our server was attentive but not obtrusive. I observed him periodically checking in on us from afar and if my body language indicated I needed something, he came over immediately. He was knowledgable on the foods they served and answered all of my questions. The bathrooms at the restaurant seemed a little off as if the equipment was recycled from a previous tenant. The mens bathroom had been hastily repainted without masking off any of the appliances attached to the wall. The mirror was not removed to paint walls so you could clearly see the original wall styling behind it. The urinal stall wall had graffiti on it that appeared to have been painted over. Having only been open for three days at this point, it's unlikely the graffiti was new. Generally, however, it was clear and tidy and did not smell bad at all. The price of buffet was adequate considering the service and food that was provided with it. My entire dining experience at Fushimi was excellent and I will definitely be returning. If you like sushi you have to check out Fushimi Sushi Buffet. I rated this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars. It lost a star because of the condition of the bathrooms.

We stumbled upon Fushimi one afternoon when we had meant to go to a different sushi place but it was closed. On a whim, we decided to give Fushimi a go. I had never had AYCE sushi before, so this was definitely branching out from my usual sushi experience. Overall, I think the price of their buffet + AYCE made to order sushi is a great deal (especially if you go for lunch, since it's a bit cheaper). To note: there are some rolls that are available during dinner only, but you certainly have quite a bit to choose from on the lunch menu as well. If you are aiming for a lunch deal and want to eat mostly sushi rather than the buffet options, this is a great deal. While I am a big fan of other Milwaukee sushi restaurants, I would say that some other places' sushi options in the buffet deal are quite limited. Fushimi had enough sushi options on the lunch menu for both of us to try a few different kinds, plus they are made to order which we both appreciated. The one minus to the place is, as other reviewers have mentioned, the amount of fish in the sushi isn't as much as you might expect. So, while you may be getting lots of AYCE sushi made to order, it's not as much fish as you'd get at some other places. Honestly, I didn't mind very much (I can always just order more, right?) -- but it's something that could put off some customers. We have been back on a few different occasions, both for lunch and dinner, and have had great service each time. We'll keep coming back!

I came here for lunch with some friends last week and this sushi buffet is set up a little differently that other places I've been to. They have a buffet table for hot foods and fruit/dessert and you can order sushi from the menu as part of the buffet. There are 2 sections in the menu: lunch and dinner. Lunch was a bargain at $12.95 and you can choose from the first 3 pages of the menu. Overall the food was good, but service is slow...probably because this place gets packed and everyone starts ordering tons of sushi. Still, I would come back though, but for lunch only. Dinner is nearly double the lunch price!

All you can eat sushi buffet, don't need to say much more. This is the only place in Milwaukee where I've seen all you can eat sushi. This restaurant has good parking in the back. The inside is very hip, clean. Well done. We went on a Thursday, the sushi buffet itself is 20 dollars which includes the hot dishes from the buffet line as well as unlimited ordering of sushi. For those non sushi lovers, there is a 14 dollar alternative that is just for the buffet line, which includes a modest amount of well prepared tasty dishes. This is not your average Chinese/Asian buffet. There are fewer options, but the quality seems to be better, and the decor is decidedly more upscale. The sushi was fairly tasty, definitely a solid medium quality. I haven't had their sushi here in a nonbuffet context, so I'm not sure if the quality changes, but it could have been better. Can't complain too much though, 20 bucks a person for all you can eat sushi is a fantastic deal regardless. Our server was very nice, attentive, the plates were cleared quickly which is always important when everyone is stuffing their face and going to the buffet line multiple times.

When Fushimi first opened, I was excited that a decent AYCE sushi joint was in town. I have been to Fushimi five times since it has opened and there have been things that have remained consistent and things that have not. Service, for one, has always been lacking. The layout of the restaurant is so spread out that it is hard for servers to maintain presence during service. There doesn't seem to be a bartender so drinks tend to take a long time to come out. On my first visit, we were never given any limitations on nigiri or sashimi. The sashimi slices were thick and delicious! My friend and I were also impressed with the hot food bar. The seaweed salad and jellyfish salad are delicious! Every subsequent visit involved limitations on sashimi and nigiri orders, massive shrinkage of sashimi portions, and the neglected hot bar food turning cold. On my last visit to Fushimi, I couldn't believe how small the portions had gotten and how stingy the owners were seeming. It's almost like they don't understand the concept of an AYCE sushi bar. Bottom line: sushi is decent and if you're craving it, Fushimi is a decent place to go. Lunch service is a way better deal IMO than dinner service.

This place rocked. All you can eat sushi and a pretty sweet list to choose from at that. I went on a Saturday for lunch, so I only paid $12.95. Since some of the other yelpers made comments about the freshness of the buffet, I got there when it opened--freshness achieved. My server was nice, my sushi came out fast, and the atmosphere was the nicest of pretty much any buffet I've been to for this price. I've only lived in places with all you can eat sushi, so since I moved here I don't really go out to too many sushi places. The fact that it's pricey and the fact I can consume enough sushi to feed 15 people doesn't work well for my budget. I will be back.

I've visited Fushimi several times for lunch and dinner as well as the "all day dinner" thing on Sundays. ;P I'll be upfront about this: Fushimi is not the best sushi place you'll visit. It's not even as good straight-up as Izumi's, which is just a few blocks away. So you might be wondering, "Well Sarah, why did you give Fushimi 5 stars?" I'm a big lover of sushi. If I was able to, I'd eat it everyday. And I could easily do that at Fushimi, if I was inclined to drag my lazy ass out in the cold every night (I grew up on the East Coast... damn you freezing Midwest winters!!). As other reviewers have pointed out, the price is great. I'd say it's practically a steal considering the quality and variety that Fushimi offers. I'm not a big fan of buffets but I always try a bit of everything. Everything at Fushimi is solid. Some of the items aren't exceptional but you won't encounter anything that's just bad. If you do, I suggest you bring it to their attention; each time I was there a chef is always coming out every few minutes or so to check the dishes. He removes things that look like they're cooling off as well as replaces the contents of plates before they're depleted. There are some very good items, at least to my taste. The frog legs are really good. If you go for dinner, you'll also have access to things like fresh-shucked oysters, snow crab legs, and a lot of other different kind of seafood dishes. I personally like the tofu miso soup that is served with lunch more than I like the seafood miso soup that is served with dinner, but they're both nice and not over-salted or over-diluted, which seem to happen to miso soup more often than not. The sushi rolls are well-prepared. It's evident that they pay attention to detail in the preparation, and each plate is beautifully presented (I have uploaded a few photos exemplifying this). I've been to many other sushi buffets in the same price range and Fushimi is heads above the others. Sure, it may be a pain that the cuts of sashimi are smaller than what you'd get from ordering a sashimi entree at a regular restaurant, but you can keep asking for more. If you think about it, they have to do this to minimize the chance of wastefulness, because at the end of the day this is someone's business and livelihood. As it is, they don't skimp on quality. I'm very picky about the freshness of the fish I consume, and I've enjoyed what I've gotten at Fushimi. The variety they offer at dinner is also outstanding considering the price. I would feel guilty about expecting more variety considering that I'm paying half as much as I would at any half-decent regular sushi restaurant. I wanted to respond to an earlier review about lunch. I agree that Fushimi's lunch selection is somewhat limited, but we're only paying ~$13 for it. That's an extremely good deal. It's understandable that they don't offer sashimi options at lunch because they would be running at a loss if they did. The majority of sushi buffets in Fushimi's price range doesn't even offer sashimi for dinner and would charge you extra if you even left one clump of rice (to say nothing about the poorer quality of ingrediants). You still have access to a lot of their specialty rolls. I'm not sure how many people actually research the price of sashimi-grade fish, but it's not cheap I'll tell ya that. xD I found it amazing that they offer nigiri at all for lunch; it would be cheaper for them to only do rolls, which is what a lot of all-you-can-eat sushi places do for dinner. Just for the sake of comparison, the lunch buffet at Izumi's is slightly more expensive than Fushimi, but only offers three types of rolls and some hot entrees. Well, those are my rather long two cents. :) I've lived on the East Side for five years and Fushimi is an extremely welcome addition to my neighborhood. I still love places like Samurai and Izumis, but I want to see Fushimi continue to do well.

Note: The place has only been open for a week and a half. Note: I am not a sushi expert. This is certainly an interesting concept. To me sushi restaurants tend to be more upscale, swankier, more expensive and typically reserved for less frequent visits. "Buffet" restaurants don't really have any of those connotations. I'll be interested to see whether the name, marketing or format changes after they've been in business for a while. Or maybe my perception will change... We went for dinner and tried several/most of the specialty rolls. While I don't think any would be considered the best I've had, several were very good. Fushimi did not have the diversity of fish of other places and some of the rolls had odd filler/veg choices (i.e. asparagus). This is understanable and expected considering it's all you can eat. The buffet selection was impressive. I enjoyed several of the items including the barbecued squid, seafood miso and stuffed oysters. I know I'll return soon for the lunch buffet. Definitely worth trying and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

!!! Just came back from the lunch buffet special, and I am so happy- all the food at the buffet was delicious, plated beautifully, and replenished quickly, and the sushi rolls (you order them from the menu, we tried the Volcano and Rainbow rolls) were absolutely amazing. The lunch special is only $13, which blew my mind! The restaurant itself is very classy, the servers are very polite and friendly, and I will definitely be coming back very soon! P.S. Oh, and parking is in the back!

I went twice. Once for lunch and a wanted to give dinner a try hoping it would be better. But I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, their food is ok, but not the best. Their pros are that they are clean and the decor is very modern and cute. I love it. Workers are friendly. The vibes of the place are good vibes. The cons are mainly about the food. It is our fault for coming a little later but that doesn't give an excuse not to refill some platters. Also, the food wasn't very hot or fresh. Not a very huge selection, but enough to fill up a plate and go for seconds. As for sushi, my first experience the sushi was very loose. When I would pick one up, it would fall apart. It wasn't enjoyable. As for the second time, the sushi was a bit tighter and for the most part it stayed together. Also, not all the waitresses speak English very well which was very difficult to order certain things. Overall I like fushimi, but then I don't. I wouldn't mind eating here again if I come early when the food is fresh. Other than that, I wouldn't return.

Not my favorite sushi place...I went for the lunch buffet and tried some rolls as well as the hot buffet. The hot buffet wasn't half bad, but the sushi rolls didn't have a lot of flavor which makes me feel like it's not that fresh. I haven't been back and probably won't be.

My boyfriend and I went to Fushimi for dinner. At that point I hadn't read any of the reviews. However, after reading the reviews, I find that I am in agreement with many of the three star contributors. The atmosphere was great. We went about 8 p.m. and it was mostly empty, but I did notice the cooks coming out and replacing or checking on the food at the hot buffet at least 3 times during our hour visit. The portions were small, which is a good thing, unlike a typical buffet where it is just mass cooked and cold. The food itself was good. I am not a huge fan of buffets because I think of them as feeding troughs, but this one was clean, neat and the food was flavorful. My favorite by far were the baked clams. We both could of eaten just those and been happy. The rolls were good. I have gone to Kyoto for the AYCE and find they use entirely to much rice. We ordered the Sexy Girl, The Spicy Santa and the Spider rolls along with Tamago. This is where we have to lose some stars. The Sexy Girl tasted....weird. The tuna on top was a paste consistency which I didn't care for at all. At that point, I resigned myself to eating only the cooked items. The rolls held us well and and balanced with the amount of rice. We also ordered 2 cocktails and boy were they boozy. I guess that is a good thing if you are looking for that. But even my boyfriend who is a drinker thought they were a bit strong. Overall, we will go back to give it another whirl.

Been here twice and both times I was not disappointed Both times for lunch. The buffet was fresh and hot. The wait for Sushi depends on how busy they are but the wait for me was not that long both visits. The decor is very nice for an AYCE.

In my travels around the Midwest, I always look for a good sushi place to call my new home. Fushimi was a wonderful, temporary home for sushi during my stay in Milwaukee. They have a nice warm Chinese bar to snack on while waiting for the juicy morsels of sushi. The ambiance was casual, uptown feel.

If it sounds too good to be true - it usually is... Our first dining experience here was not so good. FIrst off, we tried the lunch buffet and arrived a little after 2 (the buffet closes at 3 for lunch). Most places would replenish the buffet if there are paying customers but Fushimi did not offer this courtesy. Most of the buffet was picked over and the staples (fried rice / noodles etc) were fully exhausted. Bottom line was we had very limited choices on the buffet. Our server was fair - but we could tell she was not happy we were arriving so close to the end of the buffet. She was 'fake' in here sincerity and it resonated in her interactions with us. I can understand to a degree but we weren't getting a discount for the partial buffet so I'd expect at least the service to be decent. Our hopes of a good experience were left with the sushi - which could have made this a great experience - but sadly disappointed. The choices even for lunch are fantastic and could one could easily pay the entire cost of the buffet ordering just one premium roll from any of the other 'A' sushi places in town. Fushimi fell short once again. The rice was bland without any flavor, the fish was sub-par, and the overall assembly of the sushi was fair. The plate was prepared in a somewhat appealing manner - but the lack of flavor and quality quickly made any appearance - seem superficial. In terms of decor and cleanliness - the place shines and I bumped my review one star for this. The concept is great and if it were possible to offer an all you can eat sushi dinner combined with a buffet for a reasonable price - this place would be a local gem. I personally would rather forgive the all you can eat AND pay a little more for a quality memorable dining experience.

They offer a variety of sushi and also boast a decent buffet bar, as well. I've been here on numerous occasions, and each time, I leave happy. The drinks are tasty and strong, the sushi is good, we've never had bad service. I would recommend the Spicy Santa roll, definitely my favorite. Each time we go back home for a visit, we make plans to go to this place. I would definitely recommend it.

This was my second time. My wife and I were looking for Japanese. I suggested Izumi's but she likes the "fun" atmosphere of this place. We should have gone to Izumi's. We would have paid 30% (or more!) in our walk-out tab but we would have had a memorable meal. Like some of the other reviewers of this place, we WANTED to like it. Their buffet looks really good and has lots of interesting an unusual items. The last time I was here, it had delicious lamb chops...not today, though. Service was good but the sushi was a little on the slow side (not much, but a little). I think this is intentional so diners don't fill up on expensive raw fish. The fancy-dancy rolls were not worth the trouble. We had the "Fantastic Roll" and the "Spider Roll". They tasted exactly the same which was not that fantastic. They didn't taste bad-bad...just not interesting. I liked the calamari but my wife didn't care for it. They did come out with some shrimp tempura and that was good...most of the other items were quite forgetable. I might try it for lunch sometime...but if they don't get their act together, they're history. Too many good places in Milwaukee to waste my time on a mediocre place. My headline for this place: Sometimes, you don't want to eat "All You Can Eat".

Ok I'm getting some flak about my old review so I'm editing.. I went for the lunch buffet and left basically not a fan of buffets...I stand corrected in that Fushimi is indeed nothing but a decent and good value restaurant. The sushi is fresh and prepared well. The only problem is you might have to order 5 times because the portions are smaller but they don't care, they keep it coming, that which I do like. However, I had a little problem with the all you can eat part and I'm no expert in all you can eat' but if you order the nigiri (during the lunch buffet) you MUST eat the rice that accompanies it or else the waitress may threaten to charge you extra if you just eat the fish and leave the rice. I ordered 6 pieces of nigiri and only ate the fish, she didn't say anything. Then I ordered two more pieces and left the rice again and then she hassled me about it. To me, thats a bit ridiculous (realistically it was a small amount of white rice), however they've got rules as to which I was unaware that I must follow.. Honestly my experience was not too bad other than the all you can eat policy. I'm guessing you don't have to eat all your food but I wouldn't suggest ordering sushi (nigiri) and eating only the fish and then trying to order more, that they will charge you extra for. Hope this clarifies some. Overall I gave them a 3 stars, I think they could offer some other options for lunch, like a sashimi appetizer, and give bigger portions of fish per roll..

Upon hearing that Fushimi was open after watching the renovations progress over the past few months, I decided I couldn't wait for the weekend to try the lunch buffet. Even though I only had an hour, I had to see what all the fuss was about for myself. I was greeted by a very friendly host as soon as I entered, who walked me back to my table right in front of the very busy sushi chefs. I couldn't believe how many different offerings there were on the hot buffet. Teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, ribs, tempura everything. Everything was great! The only thing I will say is that I've had better ginger dressing on my salad at other places, but that's really not a make or break for me. Now on to the rolls. I ordered a Spicy Santa roll, a Godzilla roll and a spicy tuna roll. The Spicy Santa was my favorite, by far. Just enough crunch from the tempura and the sauce was very good. There are more rolls offered at dinner, and I can't wait to go back and try a few of them, namely the Hawaiian roll. The service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The atmosphere is wonderful. They really sunk some money in to this place. Bottom line - all you can eat rolls for such a low price is awesome. Make sure you're hungry when you go, though. Gotta get your money's worth. I hope they stick around!

I really, really, really wanted to like this restaurant and for the most part, we did. My husband & I split a plate of maki rolls, spicy tuna & the Alaska, both were excellent. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from a very attentive & jolly bartender. Okay, now the deal breaker...The lighting is totally cold, depressing and uninviting. It reminded me of lighting in an old factory cafeteria or a morgue (I'm NOT exaggerating). All the elements are there for a good dining experience, just warm up the lights & dim them down. Nobody wants to sit in bright icy blue lighting, especially in WI. GET A LIGHTING DESIGNER please!!! Oh & please get rid of that horrid over head florestent lighting w/ the fake sky, I'm cold just thinking about it. PS if you don't believe me, just think about all of the successful restaurants in MKE, or anywhere for that matter. Warm, cozy lighting is KEY.

Terrible. I recommended this place and frequented it quite a bit when it first opened. It's a unique idea on the East Side as there aren't any other true buffets that also offer sushi made to order that I know of. (Iszumi's buffet tiny compared to Fushimi and you can't order what you want, you are stuck with limited buffet offerings). So, nice idea and early on, the fish was always fresh, the rolls quite good, and the buffet price a steal. I was able to tolerate smaller cuts of sushi knowing that I could get as much as I wanted and visit the buffet between orders. I will also add that the atmosphere is nice here - it has a nice feel and is well decorated. Recent visits, and there have been at least two or three since November have been nothing short of awful. Cuts of sushi are laughably small..like, thumbnail small. Wish I had a pic. I understand that this is all you can eat but when this place opened, they at least gave a passable cut. Not any longer. Worse yet sushi has been very fishy lately. If you've ever tried grocery store sushi, you know what I'm talking about. On my last visit I tried multiple pieces that in most cases didn't taste right. Are they resorting to lower grade fish or keeping fish too long? I don't want to know. The rolls have been as bad. Another reviewer was spot-on regarding the rolls being loose and sloppily made. I've experienced this..not fun picking up a roll that falls apart because the seaweed isn't fully cooked or it's rolled too loose or whatever. In the end, I really hope Fushimi can turn it around. I'm sure it's quite costly to keep the lights on here and this may have a lot to do with the decline as of late. Unfortunately, this experience is no longer worth saving a few dollars.

We went for lunch. The wait for a table was long even though there seemed to be plenty of open tables. The decor was nice. As other reviewers have mentioned, order whatever sushi you plan to have as soon as you sit down, and maybe it will be there before you're ready to leave. As buffets go, it definitely seemed to be of a higher quality than a typical Chinese buffet or Golden Coral style all you can eat buffet. And, also, as others have more than mentioned, after the long wait for the sushi, it was not at all worth the wait. Its probably among the poorest sushi I've ever had. Still, I could be persuaded to go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

The "All You Can Eat" genre is never a big draw for me; I can never eat enough to get my money's worth. Then tack on "sushi" to that phrase and I'm even more of a skeptic. So let me preface by saying that their maki/nigiri is made to order, not laying out on the buffet table, but being rolled freshly as you order. I came for lunch to make the most of my moolah and was pleasantly surprised by the decor and the size of the place, kinda narrow towards the front and blossoms out towards the back with seats at the sushi bar. The buffet itself is a smorgasbord of asian dishes like fried rice, teriyaki chicken, lemon chicken, tempura veggies, egg pies, wonton soup, salad with ginger dressing and a variety of fruits and small cakes for dessert. One could easily go to town on this and be satisfied, but I was holding out for the sushi. The lunch selection is more limited than dinner and includes nigiri pieces, which are encumbered by big clumps of rice, rather than sashimi. My take is they want you to eat the rice to fill you up a bit. That being said, the sushi was pleasantly delicate and fresh, not superb, but good for the price. The volcano roll was my favorite. They state they charge for sushi not eaten if you overorder, so my advice would be order as you go, don't rush it. Service was fine, I didn't feel hassled or judged for not eating all the rice from my nigiri orders. Overall take, totally worth it for lunch, probably worth it for dinner as well, but definitely worth a try.

This would be the second time coming to this place. The first time, the waitress didn't seem to know the menu and had a few tumbling moments. The second time around, we went during lunch time and the service was superb. The waiter was fast and easy to talk to. We didn't have to continuously wait to order more sushi rolls. The place is clean and there was a good variety of rolls offered in the buffet menu. Would definitely come back here when I have sushi cravings.

Went for lunch on a Friday. Made the mistake making a small order of Sushi figuring a second order would be possible during lunch - not!! Lunch took almost an hour and a half. Sushi regardless of type was small, however this is all-you-can-eat. The place is clean and stylish. Service was slow. The hot and cold buffet was lacking, most of the items did not appeal to my dining companion nor I. Overall a good value. Might comeback again.

Best value for Sushi in Milwaukee, maybe the world. A group of friends and I went for the $12.95 sushi and lunch buffet. First off, the buffet of non sushi asian inspired food is worth the $12.95 for lunch. Great selection of dishes to satisfy just about anyone. The all you can eat Sushi is also fantastic and makes this deal one of the best around. They have about 8 specialty rolls and 20 basic rolls for you to choose from. The specialty rolls are all fantastic and would easily cost $10 each at any other restaurant. Is the Sushi the best I have ever had? No. But, it is as good as most sushi restaurants in Milwaukee and satisfies every sushi craving without breaking the bank. Also, the decor of the restaurant is quite nice and does not feel like a buffet type place. If you haven't been, I would recommend to anyone who loves sushi but does not have the cash to eat it as much as they would want. By far one the of the best finds in Milwaukee.

I will start of this review by stating that I just had one of the most disappointing dining experiences at a restaurant in my life here. I am baffled that this restaurant has a 4.5 star average review on Yelp. Either the restaurant has exorbitantly paid people to write favorable reviews or all the reviewers are total morons. While I was initially excited to try this restaurant, I was also apprehensive as I generally hate buffets (Maharaja is the exception) and and an all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurant seems like food poisoning just waiting to happen. (I have a date later tonight and nothing ruins a date like uncontrollable, explosive diarrhea.) After checking out what the buffet offered - sesame chicken, teriyaki chicken, gyoza, lemon pepper whitefish, my friend and I ordered two traditional rolls - shrimp tempura and some other one (I think it was called Santa's Spicy Sack or something?) Anyways, after ordering the rolls, we partook in the buffett, which all tasted mediocre at best. Although, the whitefish was pretty good, but then it gave me a headache from too much MSG (monosodium glutamate, ya doofus). After consuming a second plate of buffet food, I realized that we had been waiting awhile for our rolls. It felt like hours had passed or we had somehow entered a time vortex and time had frozen. My friend grew increasingly impatient, threatening to break his plate in anger if the rolls did not arrive soon. After another five minutes (felt like five hours), my friend suggested that we leave the restaurant without paying. Being a prominent member of society and fearful of what such an act would have on my reputation, I suggested that we wait another five minutes. Finally, the rolls arrived. At this point, we were nearly full from the garbage buffet food and forced down the rolls like a child eating vegetables. On the back of my credit card receipt, I wrote: "Attn: Management, I estimate that your restaurant will be out of business within six months. Horrible service. Please hire more waitstaff. Decent whitefish."

I wasn't impressed with the buffet or sushi. The sushi all tasted the same to me. Our first waitress took our drink orders but never came back so we had to get another waitress. I don't think I'll be returning.

Bad service We had to order multiple times because waitress forgot at least one roll every time. She hated us any time we asked for something The sushi was mediocre. The buffet was awful! Probs not going back.

Yes, it's all you can eat and it's cheap but hardly worth it, even for lunch. The service is so sloowwwww. We're talking like 30+ minutes for a shrimp tempura roll that is barely the length of a pencil. My advice would be to order EVERYTHING you want up front. For us, it took us at least 10 minutes after being seated to get greeted by our waitress. The nigiri is - I hate to say it - pathetic. It's the thinnest piece of fish on a massive bed of rice. 90% rice 10% fish. The rolls are poorly rolled and again, mostly filler with little fish. The fish is not of great quality either. The hot buffet area was better because you didn't have to wait forever for sushi. Still, everything is drowning in oil. Though, the waitress was nice and she recognized how slow our service was from start to end and gave us a quick apology at the end, which I appreciated. Still - I will probably stay away and pay more elsewhere for a quality sit-down sushi experience. Too bad.

I really have a hard time understanding some of these reviews. We ate there today, Sunday, which means that they served only "dinner." My friend and I routinely hit up Kyoto, but it's far from us so when we heard about Fushimi, we were stoked. We went there and were surprised by how nice it is inside. Comfortable chairs, "upscale" Asian decor that includes the waving cat at the hostess stand. There is a full bar in the front, and a giant sushi bar with 3 chefs on a Sunday at 1:15pm. Yippie! The lighting is dim, but it would/could make a decent date night for sure. Service was fine. She made sure we always had tea and water and brought our rolls and cleared our plates. It's pretty standard service for an Asian buffet. She did her job though, and she did it well. As I looked around I saw lots of skinny girls stuffing their faces. I began taking notes on their buffet strategy because obviously I'm not doing something right. We hit the buffet. My friend did crab legs and oysters with soup. I had a little bit of noodle, a piece of gyoza, shrimp shumai, veggie tempura, a piece of coconut shrimp, baked cheesy oyster and kani salad. It was a step up from most Chinese buffets i've ever been to, but still an Asian buffet. Warmer could have been a bit higher. We ordered specialty roll after roll. The fish was really fresh, great color, super fresh ingredients. Perfect avocado used. I love how many "crunchy rolls" they have. They could have tossed a bit of extra masago on them, but they were fat and delicious. I can see why people would complain about the sauce. There was lots of sauce. There is also a ton of fish. Are other reviewers talking about the same Fushimi? We don't hit sushi buffets and AYCE for basic rolls because AYCE is gluttonous in itself, so what's the point? Also, I would think that people should really be happier that the non-specialty rolls come smaller, most likely that means less rice, less filling and more room for more food!. Besides buffet food we had: Sexy Girl Angel dragon roll Rainbow roll Volcano Roll Outstanding roll Fantastic Roll Try them. They're delicious. To top it off, we had hot green tea. our bills totaled $24 each. We already have plans to go back. P.S. Dessert is underwhelming, probably because most people don't make it that far.

This was my second time this week and it was nice. This time I brought my friend and her mom. Linda was our waitress and she was rude. We didn't eat all our sushi but we a good majority however my friends mom did not like her sushi so she just ate the inside. Linda came to our table and told my friends mother that next time she came to the restaurant not smush her food on her plate. It was very disrespectful to speak to clients as we are children and worst because she was talking to someone's mother. Also unless your saving the uneaten sushi then what does it matter how you choose to eat it. I am from Tennessee and when returning to Milwaukee I will not be returning to this restaurant. Our coworkers that frequent this place twice a week will also know how my friends mother was treated.

I'm a huge fan of sushi. Living on the east side, I am lucky enough to be within walking distance of gobs of ethnic food, and I still try to go get sushi once a week, usually at Fushimi. The value can't be beat, with their M-S 12.95 all you can eat sushi/buffet, The atmosphere is trendy and clean, and it's even totally acceptable to bring a date, as the star of the show is the sushi, and the buffet really just comes across as a build your own appetizer bar. I always have to convince people to try this place, as there's a bit of a stigma around all you can eat sushi from a restaurant with a buffet, however, once there, everyone loves the place! The sushi is made to order, and is pretty decent quality, and you have to get the Spicy Santa roll! It's not a traditional roll in any way, but I always start with it, because it is so damn delicious, and I can always stuff my face with 20 pieces of nigiri afterwards (or 30, its the same price either way!) There's a pretty good selection of sushi, including cooked tempura rolls, and vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. The service is usually good, however sometimes the sushi can take a while to come out when it gets busy, so try not to fill up on the buffet, that's a rookie mistake. Its a great place to bring someone who has never tried sushi, since it's not a heavy investment to try different things, and, worst comes to worst, your friend has horrible taste in food, there's always the buffet.

So... We went back to try the buffet and the all-you-can-eat sushi (made-to-order) this time. The buffet was good. The food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. But. The sushi was small. The amount of fish, etc., inside the rolls was pathetic. And the rolls were all covered with spicy mayo. You couldn't taste anything else BUT the spicy mayo. We were both really disappointed. When we go back, we're either going to split the sushi and sashimi entree (which was delicious) or we're just going to stick to regular sushi and sashimi with our buffet and not order rolls.

I went with my bf for lunch on a weekday, the place is not small and not big, but there were quite a lot of people eating there. 13.95 for all you can eat is not a bad price. The sushi is pretty tasty, but you can tell some of them are not wrapped perfectly, there are only two people working on the sushi bar and the sushi orders don't come out very quickly. Hot buffet is nice in variety but its a bit cold. The heating in this place is low, too. The music is nice and server is always around taking sushi orders and refill your drinks. They have a parking lot at the back.

Went there this evening for an anniversary dinner and the food was outstanding. The price was very reasonable for an all-you-can-eat menu. After moving from Michigan I was skeptical that I would find another place offering a similar menu. Highly recommended!!

This place is average. They take a while to get the sushi in. If you can resist the side buffet then you will get to enjoy your sushi. Otherwise you will be too full to enjoy it. I just like the fact that you get many options.

Came here for weekday dinner, but should have really went for lunch... Pros: - new and clean restaurant - unlimited made-to-order rolls Cons: - baked oysters don't have oysters in them. Just a bunch of spicy mayo and imitation crab. - they now have a limit to sashimi and nigiri? what?!? - the waitresses we had were sub-par. not the nicest, but that could be from all the rules they were giving us. I would pay for lunch, not dinner. I go to an AYCE to eat literally all-you-can-eat. I don't want limitations.

I hate to downgrade Fushinami like this, but when they say the close at 10pm, they mean they turn off the music, turn up the lights, and kick you out onto the street. For their prices, you'd think they'd be slightly more accommodating. In our defense, we were almost finished up (maybe a bite or two left) and they still swept away our plates and gave us our check before we could ask for a to-go box. 10pm is it, folks. That's it. Don't even try to linger. The bar is the same way. You'd think the bar would be open maybe half an hour or so longer, but no. They literally kick you out at 10 on the spot. Be forewarned.

The sushi at this place is fantastically rolled and the sauces are delicious! You can literally order every item on the sushi/specialty roll menu for one price. I recommend going for lunch rather than dinner because the buffet is half off.

We tried the all you can eat sushi with a buffet, and was not disappointed. Service was good, the sushi rolls were solid, and the buffet items were tasty. All in all, a good experience. The sushi took awhile for each order, but the buffet was still there, so not really an issue. Sushi rolls are made to order, and you keep ordering until you are stuffed. Sashimi was not great. Too small and not great tasting. The buffet items were mainly seafood, and most very good to to excellent. The squid was outstanding. I will return.

Hit up Fushimi (or Fushnami, or whatever it's called - the exterior signs and menus differ for some reason) last night due to a rare + unexpected sushi craving. Here's how it broke down: Atmosphere: 4 stars. The space was bigger and nicer than I had expected. We sat near the front ad I didn't notice any untoward odors nor did my clothes stink afterwards so either they've fixed that issue or it affects the front less? Service: 5 stars. We had really good service. Drinks were replenished, plates were cleared quickly and sushi orders were taken and delivered in short order. We never lacked or really had to wait for things. Buffet: 1 star. I don't expect great things from buffets and this one still managed to disappoint. Most items weren't replenished or tended to in the hour we were there, so most dishes were really picked over. Much more worrying was the fact that hot items were not hot, or even warm. Room temperature seafood, sitting for one hour plus....you should probably steer clear. Sushi: 3.5 stars. All of the rolls were ordered were delivered quickly and were tasty. Not the best sushi I've had, but not the worst either. The Spicy Santa roll was pretty badass - next time I'd skip the buffet totally and tell them to keep the Spicy Santas coming. Overall: Taking the price into consideration, I'd probably give Fushimi 3.5 stars as the sushi was quite good as was the service. They really need to work on some food safety stuff on the buffet and work on getting items replenished and turned in a timely manner. Also - 10% off your bill with a Yelp check in!!

So I have gone to this spot a couple of more times and despite a variance of quality/selection most of my views are still favorable towards this destination. Ultimately, I still prefer Kyoto for the AYCE dinner; however, as far as lunch goes (why I say 4 instead of 3 stars) this place is simply one of the best bargains in town. You cannot even get a rainbow roll from pick 'n' save for less than $10 and I am not even beginning to mention the difference in quality. Quite simply the lunch here is always worth it. Always. The service is friendly and I have never had a problem with refills. As others have mentioned the buffet can be good to less than appealing. Hopefully they will be able to reach a consistent quality soon...(although I really am here mostly for the sushi!)

Great deal! The food is really good for the price, and the included buffet is really nice. Sometimes it can get a little slow, especially around 1 PM on the weekends, or if you have a lot of people in your party. The staff are always super nice and of all the times I've been there, there haven't been any major problems. Go here for decent sushi at a good bargain, especially during the day when all you can eat is only like $15/person.

My husband and I stopped by for a weeknight dinner at Fushinami. It pretty much met the expectations I had formed, but I was pleasantly surprised on the attentive service we had! DO: - Order the maki rolls. Yes, they are covered in sauces and "crunch", but that is really what they do best. Go to town on spider and volcano rolls. Normally, I would rather pass on the western-style maki, but this is the place to own it! -Order as much as you can up front. Don't buy into any illusions that this place is going to allow you to order a few times without some difficulty. I don't blame my waitress at all, she was very helpful, but I think the sushi chefs are just that slow. PASS: - Okay, so they have to limit the number of sashimi pieces per table. On top of that stipulation apparently they limit you to the size as well!!! it was literally about 1" square. It made me think of those 'fun size" candy bars. Also, they don't know the difference between Iko and Tako. Sad. - Keep in mind that the buffet isn't going to constantly refreshed. I noticed that the last 3 stuffed mushrooms had been languishing hours, but was not surprised. Buffet joints typically don't put out new food unless the hot tray is completely done. And be honest, did you really come here for the buffet?

    (3)
  • Amanda M.

Really good food! The only problem is the sashimi! It is limited in 42 pieces per table!

  • Lily B.

Sushi was great, buffet was wonderful and I would easily grade it at 4 stars, just based on the food alone. However, the service here is terrible! 2 hours for two different roll orders! 15 minutes just to get silverware that was missing. Came once to refill drinks. Our waitress, India, spent more time leaning against the counter twirling her hair, than actually serving tables... Quite irritating when you take into account that she added gratuity.

Best sushi place EVER!!!!!! All you can eat sushi and Chinese buffet! They are pretty new, but man are they pretty AWESOME. Sushi can take a while sometimes, so don't fill up in the Chinese buffet, no matter how hard it is, leave space for sushi!!! :)

Love me some sushi, and love me some Fushimi! This place is great. All you can eat sushi and buffet for a pretty decent price! Ordered four rolls, the Volcano roll was my favorite, a little spicy. The service was great, our server was very attentive to our table. The featured drink was delicious, tasted like a Star-burst and was also low cal! I will be back often to this sushi joint!

Second time. I guess I wasn't as impressed this time. Don't bother with the scallop roll. Basically a loosely rolled maki with teeny itty bitty scallops perched on top. That small and you lose the smooth milky feel that makes scallop sushi/sashimi yummy. I had hoped they would switch the buffet up a little, add a little excitement, but it was the same as previously. I'm not saying I won't be back, because I will be.. ..I just won't order the scallops.

I went to Fushimi with three other friends on Sunday at 12:30 (when they open). My friend went crazy and we had about 60 rolls in all, not to mention a plate each of the buffet offerings... Good Lord! We ordered so many things I may not be able to write them all here... Let's see... Spicy tuna sandwich Dragon Roll Sexy Girl Spicy tuna maki roll white tuna sashimi Hawaii roll Rocky Mountain roll Spicy santa roll On to the buffet table: Raw oysters with lemon, mussels, steamed fish, seaweed, fruits, and a square of chocolate cake to finish it off. I was stuffed and had to roll myself out of there! The waitress was great and kept my diet cokes coming. It was a great time, and conducive to 4 girlfriends gossiping and laughing loudly while the waitress was smooth with bringing us new plates for all the food, soda refills, and was prompt when we wanted to order more rolls. Everything was good, but some I certainly enjoyed more than others. My favorite was the rocky mountain roll and the spicy santa roll. The spicy tuna sandwich was interesting. It was a thin slice of raw tuna with white rice covering each side in the shape of a triangular sandwich slice, topped with salmon roe. I must say I enjoy Sushi Muramoto restaurant more, but my goodness - whether you are a sushi lover or new to the scene this is certainly a good place to get your fix. Sunday all you can eat costs 20 bux per person. I always feel like I can't eat enough to make the price a good deal, but I truly enjoyed this buffet experience. I enjoy this buffet because everything is fresh, so definitely worth it to go there right when they open on Sunday. Plus, who ever heard of a sushi buffet?! Fushimi is a great edition to the east side of Milwaukee. P.S. It is only $12.95 on Saturdays for Lunch!! fushimi88.com/menu.html

We came for something new - all you can eat sushi. The overall experience was good (not excellent). We ordered some fancy rolls and did not have any luck with that. However, spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls (classic rolls) turned out quite decent!!! Dinner buffet was just alright - low on fresh food although egg drop soup hit the spot for me tonight. We might come back --- but perhaps not very soon.

I'm really with Sadie on this one. I really really want to love Fushimi. I've given it 2 chances now, and I think I can accurately review. I need to start off with the space. I love the atmosphere. They did a great job. The service both times has been near non-existent and awkward. Not many refills... not much in help of any sort. The buffet I feel has a lot of potential. There's an array of interesting items.. but both times now I get the sense that the food is overcooked and has been sitting for awhile. The sushi - well - the first time the rice was warm. Like, really warm and it had an overwhelming flavor of vinegar. The second time was much better. I get the sense that I enjoyed the simpler rolls vs. the specialty rolls. The specialty rolls seemed to just have mushy fish/and or very little fish and were just too much. I want to be able to taste the fish! If you're going for value - this is your place. It's cheap - and well you get a cheap experience. OH - and both times now I've left smelling of that NOT GOOD hot fried fish smell on my clothing that Rachel F. has so eloquently spoken of. That in itself is enough to keep me away.

I was really impressed with the decor and design. I love the concept and happy to see this in Milwaukee. My friends and I ordered three sushi rolls, one was the Sexy Girl which sounded better in the description than it actually was. The other two rolls had decent flavor but didn't wow me. I was wow'd by the buffet, however. We went on a Friday night so crab legs were included in the buffet. I have zero crab leg eating skills. I just make a big mess and sometimes I get to eat crab meat. That's a "me" issue, not a restaurant issue. What I did taste of the crab legs, I liked a lot. The best parts of the buffet, in my opinion, were the various seafood items such as baked oysters, triple delight (shrimp, crab meat, calamari), stuffed flounder, salt and coconut shrimp (these were huge), spare ribs and savory lamb chops. I didn't need sushi. The buffet was plenty. If you do order sushi off the menu, I recommend you don't start with much from the buffet and finish your sushi before you go back to the buffet. They have a rule printed on the bottom of one page on the menu that states management will charge you for excessive waste. So if you don't like the sushi roll, choke down as much as possible. Then go get some better tasting items from the buffet. They have a nice selection of specialty drinks and a full bar. As long as you don't have a screaming baby two tables away from you like I did, you should be able to enjoy your experience.

Absolutely great restaurant for the family. I love the choice of ordering sushi or being able to go to the buffet! You can even do both! Students from Marquette go there often because it's cheap and not too far off campus.

I think the next time I visit, which will be soon, I will starve two days before arriving with the intent of perching myself in my comfy chair for a good two or three hours. There is a science on how to tackle this fine establishment and I am going to let you in on the secret. I suggest putting your order in for the more elaborate rolls on page three (if you're there for lunch) upon sitting, i.e. the spicy Santa, the Godzilla, and the Spider rolls are rockstar choices. While you wait for those, hit up the mushroom or tofu miso soup and cold salad bar. The seafood and seaweed salads are exceptional. As you are finishing those items, your sushi will arrive. After stuffing your pie hole with all of that tasty goodness, order up some hand rolls or nigri, a lighter option than your just eaten tempura and crab! While you wait for those, make your way to the hot bar for velvety oysters and three delight salad. The oysters were freshly put on my plate by the chef and stuffed with crab meat. The three delight salad is filled with octopus, shrimp and crab. I enjoyed the oysters immensely. By this time your next round of sushi arrives. If you have any spare room for dessert in your fully loaded stomach they have fruit and little cakes, which I did not partake in. Let's just say, I was thankful I had just gotten back from the gym and had skipped breakfast. The staff is beyond delightful. They are happy to serve you... again and again and again. The ambiance is literally classy and nice. This is not your typical buffet. In fact, I wish they would remove "buffet" from their business name. They're far from the stereotype the word "buffet" conjurs in one's mind. I sincerely hope the $12.95 lunch price stays because I cannot wait to go back. This is one of if not the best deal in the city. Plus, how many places can you go to on the East Side where parking is available in abundance and for free!

Fushimi... we are both in trouble. Seriously..... I can put down some serious sushi... It's a good thing this place isn't closer to me cause either they would lose money on my every visit or I would get mercury poisoning from seafood intake. I can't give Fushimi five stars due to the quality of their rolls. They certainly do not skimp on the rolls but the sashimi and sushi are slightly sad looking. My usual at most sushi places is spicy tuna. I don't like it here because the fish is ground up into a paste which leaves me to question quality. The biggest plus about Fushimi is VALUE. For serious..... 20.95 for the AYCE sushi and it comes with a small buffet while you wait for the sushi. Especially since the sushi is made to order makes this an awesome deal. I think they bank on you filling up on the buffet cause the sushi seems to take a pretty long time. Next time we go we will have a strategy. Our first round of sushi is going to be much larger with more rolls and more sashimi. Now that we understand the rules..... its on!

Cheap all you can eat sushi. Words that can fill a person with excitement or dread. Had I not been told this place had decent sushi, I would have probably avoided it. Asian buffets and I do not have the best track record. The lunch menu was pretty awesome. I love the fact that the sushi is made to order instead of sitting out. The sushi itself was decent. Not the best sushi ever, but damn good for buffet sushi. The hot buffet was pretty good too. I didn't eat to much because sushi.

Well let me rate the food first. I've only done the AYCE sushi with my wife there. We've gone 4 times so far. The sushi is about average and portions are smaller than I'm what I'm used to in California. I would not eat out of the buffet bar. That stuff just looks disgusting to me. Even with avoiding the buffet the AYCE is still a pretty good value. Now the Service. Their service gets worse every time I go, which is why I've decided to stop going here. It's gotten to the point when I feel like I'm bothering them by patronizing their business. The last visit went as follows. We are being waited to be seated with another couple behind us. There is plenty of open tables but we are waiting around. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and just assumed they don't have enough waiters. After waiting for 20min the couple behind us ask the hostess at the front how much longer. The hostess responded by looking down at the money she was counting and just shrugging her shoulders. My wife says "Wow!". Then, without looking up, the hostess replies "I really don't know". That was the last time we've gone. So I would've given it 3 stars but I took 2 points off for such poor service.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is... Ive been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had the opportunity to last night. /the all you can eat sushi was the attraction and with the decent reviews out here I was hoping for better. Its called AYCE Sushi but the time you have to wait between orders of sushi is ridicolous. We were there on a Tuesday night and they had two sushi chefs but it was 15 minutes between orders. The Sushi was marginal at best.I otdered a tuna roll and the tuna looked horrible almost crusty. Ate one peice of it and was done.. I'm not saying it isn't fun to try the variety you can order here its jsut not great sushi in general and on the negri pieces the slivers of fish on the rice were thinner than any I've ever seen before. Not my favorite sushi by a long shot.

This is our second time dining at Fushimi and we enjoyed the lunch buffet. Dining on New Years eve was a mistake that we will NOT repeat going into 2014. The restaurant was marginally busy, but there will still plenty of tables- we were lucky enough to get one with no silverware. Apparently there is a back entrance to the restaurant as well, this is a fact we learned during the course of our meal as parties repeatedly entered the restaurant and shot our entire section with freezing cold air. I wore my coat throughout the entire meal- which was lengthy, because service was inattentive at best and abusive at worse. Allow me to paint the picture of our experience for you- After waiting 15 minutes to have our presence acknowledged (as a server I know people tend to exaggerate times they wait- this is not an exaggeration). the waitress came over with her trainee to take our order for sushi. As we place our order she informs us that it is a holiday and it is dinner price all day, but we have access to a different portion of the menu. Well fantastic, after waiting 15 minutes I'm told I have to completely rethink my order. The waitress came back about 10 minutes later to finally take our order, which took about another 45 minutes to arrive to the table (3 people, 3 rolls each). During this time we watched other tables receive multiple orders of sushi, so either we ordered the most complex series of sushi on the planet, or our waitress forgot to put the order in. The food was underwhelming, but not terrible. The real horror story of this place comes at the end of our meal. After being done for nearly 10 minutes (we checked our times, we had spent approximately 1 hr 45 minutes at this place), we finally get our inattentive waitress' attention to give us our bill. At this point she becomes the most attentive server in the world, taking our credit cards and returning within a minute. She drops off our bills and declares, VERBATIM: "Now remember guys before you tip me, its a new year and a holiday!" She says this and walks away, leaving us in shock. As an entire table of servers, we all looked to each other to see if she really had said what we thought we heard. As we are contemplating what kind of tip to leave this excuse of a server (being sympathetic and all), as if on queue, our server returns. I am literally counting the money in my wallet to leave a tip as she picks up each checkbook from my individual friends and looks at the tip before pocketing them. She then turns to me and WATCHES me rummage through my wallet and says the following: (If you are wearing socks, please hold onto them as they may be knocked off) " You can give me a 20! A 20 is just fine I can take that!" I honestly didn't know what to do, I figured if I ignored her long enough and counted money she would go away- rather this just invited this money hungry vulture to stare at my cash and beg for a tip she most definitely did not deserve. Bottom line: If you enjoy mediocre food and horrible service at reasonable prices than this place is for you. If you have any class or taste you may want to try someplace that caters to either of these things.

Sushi buffet, eh? Remember in the horrible 90's movie Go when Taye Diggs tells all of his bros not to eat the shrimp in Vegas because its full of iodine? That's what I imagine when confronted with the term Sushi buffet. Actually though, it's not like that. There is a buffet but it is all sorts of other crap. The sushi itself is all made to order. This might take a while to flesh out, but here goes. Pros: -Price. $20.95 on weeknights for all you can eat sushi and buffet. -Setting. This used to be a wing joint. The wings sucked and so did the joint itself. It is quite nice now. -Sushi. Mostly really good. I loved the Dragon Roll and because I'm a lard ass and can't just eat a healthy meal I got the Philly Roll. Three times. Other, less remarkable stuff as well. I found the quality of the sushi in general to be pretty good. -Service. We sat at the bar and were entertained by Yelper Thomas W. He danced too much but other than that he was great. Cons: -The buffet was not good. I got a couple nibbles of teriyaki beef and didn't go back. Buffets gross me out in general so you be the judge. -I'd avoid anything having to do with lobster. I got a fried lobster roll and did not dig it one bit. Friends got other lobster rolls and didn't enjoy theirs either. -Beer selection. Yes you're eating seafood and a big IPA would kill the delicate flavors of your meal but it's be nice to have a few extra choices. Summary: If you are a fatty like me and feel like depleting the worlds remaining fisheries by eating 7 rolls for a really good price then this is your place.

Descriptive phrase: great Japanese buffet with fresh sushi to boot. Fushimi is one of those eateries that helps Milwaukee shrug the small-city moniker. It's a large (long) place with a nice, airy Asian feel. Katie K. and I came to try their All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Buffet & Made-To-Order Sushi lunch ($13). Katie had never had sushi before, and we figured this was the perfect chance to try it out. Our server was great, but the place was packed and he was busy as all get-out. I can't speak to the quality of the sushi because I don't have other restaurants to base it on, but I can say my favorites were the Striped Bass and California Roll. You can order up whatever sushi you want at any time and they'll make it fresh (though you'll wait 10 minutes). When you're not eating the sushi there is a whole buffet to tackle. I liked the fried lo mein, as well as the lamb chops, mussels, and baked clams. I'm not a big sushi guy, but I can see this being the perfect spot if you are. Regardless, the buffet is good enough to come for.

Lunch buffet is actually $13.95, with tip is about $17 for lunch. For the price and the amount that I ate, it's a pretty fair price. I've had better all you can eat sushi, but considering Milwaukee has limited choices, it's A-OK. Will be coming back again.

This is the place to go if you want sushi. Lunch buffet for only $13.95. Includes all you can eat (made to order) sushi and a traditional line of buffet style cooked food. The service here is always spot on. Very attentive.
