I have been in love with East Side Ovens since I first tried their vegan strawberry rhubarb pie around 2002. Delicious! I don't think I've ever had anything there that I didn't like, but my favorites are definitely the strawberry rhubarb pie and the blueberry dumplings. I haven't had their bread in years but I remember really liking the regular whole wheat. I'm not one for pecan sandies, but for some reason, I just can't get enough of these powdered sugar delights. I used to buy their stuff directly from their Bay View store front but now usually get them at farmers markets, Outpost coop, or other outlets.

Love this little place! Everything is natural and tastes great. Only open Saturday mornings. Place is definately low maintenance, a few folding tables with yummy baked goods. Prices are reasonable and people are friendly.

Best vegan brownies in the Midwest! (or anywhere else I've tried) East Side Ovens Bakery was a clear find during my visit to Milwaukee. The owner was very friendly, everything at ESOB is completely vegan, and the prices were unbelievably reasonable (I got 3 things for only $5). The cherry turnover/danish was pretty good, as was the sugar cookie; however, the vegan brownie was the highlight of my visit. This was, by far, the best vegan brownie I've ever had. To give you an idea, it resembled a cake brownie with frosting and tasted like the real deal. I will definitely come back to ESOB during any Milwaukee visit. (Be mindful of the hours, as they're only open to the public on Saturdays from 8AM to 1PM)

Ummm... yeah. They have the best brownies on the planet, especially when you get them fresh. Buy a tub of soy or almond milk vanilla ice cream to go along with these are you're golden. I'd say they're big enough to cut in two and share but I'm greedy... buy your own and hope I don't steal yours too.Their ginger bread cookies and sugar cookies are also amazing (ginger are a nice soft texture, sugar not like the ones in the store but good in their own right; I also think smaller is better). Turnovers are too die for (again, may want to cut in half and share). I think I've tried most of their bakery selections and am a BIG fan. When I want yummy sugary calories I will go here or to the Outpost nearby. I also finally visited their location a few times. Set up just to be functional, not fancy, but they have my brownies. You better hope you're not in the way of the last one when I'm there... Once in a while they switch a day to open up their main location, but that's usually due to holidays. For example, for Thanksgiving week 2011 they opened on Wednesday instead of Saturday. For Christmas 2011 they were open on a Friday instead of Saturday because Christmas Eve was that Saturday. Also, if you really like something (like how I love their brownies) please compliment them and let them know. There is a person in charge of each kind of bakery they make and when you compliment the sugary yummy thing you also compliment the sugary yummy thing maker. :-)

OMG East Side Ovens is AMAZING!!! All vegan bakery. No gluten free options but they were really honest about it and not trying to get anyone sick. Everything I ate from there was sooo delicious especially this frosted apple pastry. The cupcakes and muffins were also absolutely delicious. The prices were also excellent! A vegan's paradise!

I'd like to think of East Side Ovens first and foremost as an excellent bakery. It just happens to be an added bonus that they are vegan! I have tried many, many, oh so many of their products and I have seriously loved everything I've had. Don't believe me? -Banana Choc Chip Cupcake -Pumpkin Cake -Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie -Brownie -Raspberry, blueberry, and banana muffins -Rhubarb Pie -Cherry Pie -Rhubarb, cherry, and apple dumpling LOVED IT ALL. Thankfully I have not eaten all of that in one sitting, but if I could I may just try. My faves? Dumplings and brownies. Both are top notch, out of this world, and had I not know they were vegan, they woulda fooled me! I wish they were open to the public for a longer period of time, but I am just as glad to go to my local outpost and pick up some product there.

I love this place! All vegan, with some gluten-free options as well. I love their muffins and cupcakes, but the raspberry rhubarb "dumplings" (more like tiny rustic tarts) are my fave. They also make great fruit pies They're only open to the pubic on Saturdays (now, as of October, they are in the storefront). During the summer, they have a stand at the farmer's market. I find the prices to be very reasonable, and the people are very sweet. I can't wait to try some of these brownies that people keep raving about!

BE STILL MY HEART, WISCO HAS THE BOMB DIGGITY VEGAN BAKED GOODS! East Side Ovens serves up flavorful desserts you wouldn't even guess are vegan (unless you're a Jedi, in which case nothing gets past you)! The chocolate walnut brownies are huge and delicious. The cookies are crunchy and satisfying. I'm jonesing for the pumpkin spice cake I saw for sale yesterday. I pick ma vegan goodies up at Metcalfe's, Fresh Market, and Willy St. in Madison (Woodman's has 'em too). Thanks, Milwauks, for the goodies!

Everything I've tried so far is delicious. This is real baking and not that processed from poor quality ingredients stuff you usually get.

Hailing from Canada, we barely have any good places to get baked goods. All if our towns are so spread out. So, when I came to Milwaukee for business, I found a pie made by East Side Ovens that was the best pie I have ever had. It was an apple streusel pie... And only after devouring this pie did I learn it was completely vegan! How do they make such good things without butter or eggs? I don't know and I don't care. I will always remember how great that pie was.
