D14 has been on our list of places to try for months. We finally had a free Saturday night, and stopped in for a libation. We couldn't decide on just one beer, so we had to go with a flight. In hindsight, this was an excellent decision because every single stinkin beer we tried was delicious. My husband is a home brewer and total beer snob. He couldn't find a single thing to criticize. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we tried their homemade apple and cherry pie shots. Damn it all to hell- the shots were really, really tasty. We're D14 fans: the atmosphere is cool, the beer is tasty and the clientele on any given night is as diverse as you're likely to find in Bay View. Cant wait to stop back and see what they're brewing soon!

I have to admit, I wasn't too excited about District 14 at first. There are so many great Milwaukee breweries and beer-centric bars nearby, I didn't think we needed another one in Bay View -- but, this place is a great addition to the neighborhood, and the beers are solid. I've been here a few times, and I've loved every beer I've tried. They have a few regular brews on tap and what appear to be limited time/experimental brews that change periodically. The bartenders have always been friendly, and on two occasions the owner has stopped by to say hello. They even have a couple of patio tables and chairs out front during nice weather. There's pizza, too, which I have yet to try, but I hear good things. So, I was wrong to assume BV didn't need another beer bar. D14 is a new favorite on the north end of KK!

I think this is a really cool place to hang out. They brew their own beer in house, have karaoke, trivia, open mic night, bands, etc, and a couple of TVs if you want to go grab a beer and watch whatever game is on. I had the Malty McHoppenstein, which was awesome - a lighter beer with excellent "mouthfeel." But everyone's going to talk about the beer on here, so I won't go into too much beer detail. The beer is great, but so is the popcorn! Popcorn is sitting out at the bar, and is lightly buttered. It was delicious. Like really good. I want to take some and run down to the Avalon theater for a movie. The beer will have me coming back, but the popcorn will always be a good little motive too.

We stopped in earlier today at happy hour time to grab a drink at the bar. Our bartender was excellent - friendly and personable. We were the only people in there so we were able to have a nice chat. My friend and I were a little surprised by how sparse the seating is - it's very awkwardly organized inside, and I can't imagine standing/sitting at one of the four high-tops. They could easily fit four to six more high tops and/or several booths along the wall on the lefthand side. Hopefully the interior improves in the next six months or so. I look forward to going back when the seating is a bit more comfortable and the layout more cohesive.

D14 reads the sign, District 14 Brewery and Pub is full name of this approachable and versatile brewpub and space in the heart of Bay View, however. Break it down, meow: Three brews brewed in-house on tap, currently available: an IPA, a chocolate stout, and a blonde ale. The rest of their beer list boasts local/WI suds save for one: Three Floyds Alpha King = the only non-WI brewery/brew currently on tap. Booze + limited wine selection also available. ... yes, a cardinal sin not to try the beer at the brewery upon first go, but I was so full from dinner all I could think about was booze (booze helps with digestion, ya hear?) So for me, 'twas Fernet and ginger beer that night. I'll certainly be back to try their suds, though! Informal pizzas and bites are available. They're happy to serve up a beer flight of your choosing. Two (small) TVs adorn either side of wall behind the bar. Bartenders were nice if not a bit disaffected for the spot being relatively new. I'm definitely going to go back once they're a bit more settled into their identity, as I live just a stone's throw away. Boom.

Why I like District 14: -Awesome beer. A good variety, and the owner is always trying to create something new and delicious. -The staff is the absolute NICEST. This may come as a surprise, but some craft bars in Bay View tend to be a bit, dare I say it, snooty. This place, no way! Everyone feels welcome and the staff is just as sweet as can be. -The decor. Simple, but stunning. Wood everything. Almost has a feel of a cabin up north. Very warm and welcoming. -The music! I swear, this place always has great music playing. Last time it was James Brown and Ray Charles. Good drinking music! This is a great local business and I really hope more take the opportunity to stop by and sample a local craft brewer!

We stopped by District 14 on a Friday night and were really happy with the place! The vibe inside is great, not too loud that you're yelling at each other, not so quiet that you feel others can hear your conversation. The bartenders are super friendly. Matt, the owner & brewer, stopped by to chat and say hi which was nice. Four beers on tap- all pretty good! The Sexual Chocolate was my personal favorite. We will this place again! I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Great beer and potential. Owner makes pizza except crust. Gluten free crust available. Some wine too.

Patronized this fine establishment around 9pm on Friday night. Was more hopping than I'd expected based on what I'd seen driving past, but not terribly busy. Love the look. Wood. Wood everywhere, but really good looking wood. Lots of wood. I don't know much about wood, but I feel like Ron Swanson would approve of this place's choice of wood. There were 8 microbrews available. Cool little sheet on each table with descriptions of the brew, and the were very artfully drawn up on a big chalkboard behind the bar. I was impressed that there were 8, and with the differences between many of them. Creative names too. Oh, and they were very reasonably priced. The owner, Matt, was one of the bartenders when we were in, and made a point to stop by and touch our table which I really appreciated, and I'm sure he enjoyed the fact that we had nothing bad to say as well. Reasons this is shy of 5 stars? Seating & website. I wish I could give 4.5 stars, because that only bothers me 1/2 star. Besides the bar and an odd bench area by the brewery space, there are just a handful of large high tops. These fit about 6-7 people comfortably, which is awesome, but they're spaced out so much I felt like I could go rollerblading through the rest of the space. Also, I know their website is still being built, but it's been a few months! I want to be able to check it out and see everything that's on tap in one place! Some booths or something similar by the front window could be really snazzy. But I'm just being nitpicky at this point.

This place really treated us well. We had a throw together birthday party Saturday, and Matt and D14 really went out of their way to make it great! When you first walk in you can tell there is something great happening. It's open and fun, and there are a lot of very unique beers. I tried most of them, and I did not have one I didn't enjoy. Stand out for me was the RyePA. I also like that they fill growlers. The owner spent time explaining the work that went into the place, and you can tell that he cares a lot. There is a lot of really neat touches , like the unfinished canoe and the impressive amount of carpentry. And let's not forget the craft beer! If you peak into the brewing room, it's a pretty sweet setup! Very high tech. You have to go here and check it out!

Descriptive phrase: homebrew in a bar. When I first moved to Bay View I was surprised it didn't have its own brewery on the main drag. Recently District 14 Brewery & Pub stepped up to fill that noticeable void, situating itself and its big bay window-bank at one of the most well-worn intersections in the area at Lincoln, KK, Allis, and Howell. Five of us came on a Tuesday night, as they've started bringing in Quizmaster Trivia. It's not the biggest place, with maybe 6-7 high-top tables, seating for 10ish at the bar, and a some low benches on either end of the space. It filled up completely by 6:50 (Trivia at 7). While its very easy to miss the dimly-lit windows and tiny sign outside, D14 is warm and comfortable inside, where it smells of rich mahogany. They've added a smattering of local art to the walls as well. While my friend indulged in what he described as an absolutely delicious pepperoni pizza ($5), I asked for their beer flight. This night they had 8 of 10 taps filled, 6 of which were their own concoctions. I got all 6 for $13. Most of it was good, some better than others. Bartender Carly was bubbly and friendly, and owner/brewer Matt seems like a nice guy. While they continue to refine their recipes, District 14 is a nice local hangout for a fresh beer.

I went here with some friends to watch the final four Badger Basketball game and I was surprised by how great of a place this was to watch the game! There are large tables for groups and a huge projection screen with great clarity. The bar offers their own brewed beer and homemade pizzas. The beers were pretty good and the pizza was satisfying- reminded me of an above average frozen pizza. The pizza came out a little well-done but the bartender offered to remake it for us, so no complaints here. The service was good- we went to the bar to order drinks and food and we never had to wait long even though it was busy. They played great music and the atmosphere is very nice- lots of wood, almost feels like you could be in Colorado or something. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely come back in the future. Only complaint is that during the commercial breaks of the basketball game they turned off the game and played music. I know they were probably just trying to make everyone happy, but it got to be a little distributive. Other than that, great experience.

Very chill. Very solid beer. Ever changing selection of taps. Hardwood everywhere. Still finding its way with clientele and niche within the neighborhood and city. Artwork on display from local artists and very friendly bar staff. Great addition to local bar scene and adds a local flair to the extensive national beer selection available at Cafe Centraal and Sugar Maple. Stop in to sample the craftsmanship of a local business!

Love this spot. Matt knows how to make a damn good beer. Friendly service, comfy atmosphere - Can't wait to head back and see what's new on tap!

Cool new spot in Bayview - just stopped in for a beer and sat at the bar. I would recommend getting a flight since the beer is new- to see what your preference is. You can see their tiny brewery in the back of the place which is pretty cool. The beer didn't "wow" but it was enjoyable and the bartender was great.

This place is chill. The owner brews his own beer and distills his own liquor. The owner has been at the bar every time we've stopped in. There are a handful of local beers also on tap. Packer games are very fun to watch here and you can usually score a shot after a touchdown. Try a homemade pizza. They're pretty good!

Stopped in on their 2nd weekend open - 4 brews available on tap, more to come. Between my husband and I, we tried all 4 - each one was solid. Nice to finally have a little brewery in Bay View - we'll definitely be back (especially if waiting for a table at one of the local restaurants). I hope this place does well. Note - taps look to be around $5 normally, which is a little stiff (but the guy has some steep costs to recoup). They do have a happy hour, with $1 off taps. Pizza is available - didn't try, but looks like it might be assembled onsite vs frozen.

Great options. The interior is warm and inviting and comfortable seating. A great place for conversation and just relaxing at the bar. Great service.
