So, I had some time before a show at the Miramar Theater, and wanted to try that whole.....eating healthier than normal thing that I always hear you skinny people talking about. My options were.....a burger place, a greasy spoon, an ice cream shop, the gyro place, and 42 pizza places. Ahhhhh Oak and Loc. Cousin's is a Wisconsin company so it won out over the house that Jarrod built (the place that's also a mode of transportation in the big cities) So off I went, to the sub place that will serve you fries with your healthy sub. This Cousin's location sucked. Worse than any other Cousin's has ever sucked before. One of my worse fast food experiences ever as a matter of fact. I know it's not rocket science, but the cashier was a complete idiot. First, she didn't realize there were 2 people in line, standing waiting, for about 5 minutes. She came to take my order, offering barely a mumble. If your sole job in life is to take an order, you should be able to understand the word roast beef, when someone says roast beef and cheese. It should not sound like a foreign language that you have to ask for clarification twice on. I was sure from the start she was going to screw up my simple order....but lo and behold she and I both survived it. And these people want $15 an hour? No thanks. They have roughly 10 tables in this location. Why is it that with 3 employees and only 2 customers in the restaurant.....4 of the tables were dirty? Awful. So then my sub came. I'll tell you this much....the sub was good. Fresher bread than I normally find at Cousin's, and my sub was packed full of meat and toppings. I'm totally down with how good the sub was.....but everything else was lacking....and then the total dealbreaker. As I was enjoying my sandwich, a homeless person came in and started talking to the the girl behind the register. I can only guess this conversation was about nuclear physics. I tuned it out until the guy approached me at my table. He asked me to buy him a sub because he was homeless....I politely declined, and then he processed to put his hand on my shoulder to caress my shoulder, and beg......I have compassion for people...but this was crossing the line. If there was any management at Cousin's, he should have been asked to leave. But the rocket scientists that were there weren't going to do a thing. I will not be back to this location.

Extremely ghetto, not sure I trust what their doing with the food. When they took my order they kind of shouted at me in a very fierce ghetto tone. Seem like good people but not meant for the food service business. Subway is right across the street!

Ohhhh yeahhhhhh ::uttered not unlike the Kool-Aid man:: Here's what's up: Subs. And an FTR! (For the Cousins on Oakland, no less! Boomshakkkalaka. Booyakasha. Boom. Bam.) A chain, yes. A Wisconsin-tastic chain it is, yes. And I don't know why, but I have an inexplicable love for these absolutely mediocre submarine sandwiches. I mean, they're good. But they're also totally mediocre. Fresh baked bread my arse. It depends, really. But here's what's true: When you're in that whole "I have to run and I have to eat and I need a thing but I don't really feel like a McDumpy's value meal full of proto-meat is a good choice," type situation, Cousins IS a good choice. And 2-for-5? Get outta town! That's a steal, folks. ... especially if you're looking for a road sub. (That's a shout out to Jen I. I don't expect you guys to get it. Don't worry about it. Inside jokes are just that. Inside my mind grapes. (Tracy Jordan, anyone? 30 Rock?))

A good sub place. I had never been to a Cousins sub and drove to Miwaukee fromChicago just for the privilege. The sandwiches are toasted and the service friendly in this college location. This is a nice walkable neighborhood and a cool location for this franchise. There is a Subway across the street as well.

It's kind of weird to award four stars for Cousins, but I've always loved this location despite its flaws. Plus, the Cousins in MKE have fries instead of just an endless of array of chips like in Mpls. The combos are pretty damn spendy for fast-food subs but I can't help but come in here once in a while and take in the aroma of my cheese steak cookin' up on the flattop grill. There's often some weirdos hanging around, but this Cousins is classic. They even have a second-floor seating area, though I dunno if it's been used in years. If nothing else, the place is nostalgic for me.

Oh Cousin's, how I adore you. Their ads are all correct- they do have better bread here. There is just something about their combination of flavors and ingredients that make these subs one of a kind. I always get the turkey- with mayo, lettuce, and tomato, no cheese, on their amazing bread. On weekdays they have 2 for $5 deals that are great. This location is a bit sketchy and so I usually eat it back at my friend's apt. And yes, I know I usually hate chains, but this is a local chain, and I definitely always have to satisfy my craving when I'm back in town.
