So I just ordered from here and according to there map they deliver to me....well they don't and we're so rude about it on the phone. No manager or owner available and the attitude was so in different! They control their website....get that part correct and this would never had happened. The whole mess was POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE start to finish!

Normally at a chinese place I would go for the fried rice but here it is just white rice with soy sauce, bleh. If you are forced to eat here go with the general tso's chicken special with plain white rice (bearable). Side note: helps to be extra drunk when eating this food.

I just got my delivery order from Chopstix about 10 minutes ago, and the service couldn't have been better -- the delivery person was 15 minutes early! Really great deal for the amount of food you get too. When I order Chinese, I'm really not looking for anything fancy, and this really hit the spot. For a cheap and easy Chinese dinner, this will be my restaurant of choice from now on!

excellent. they delivered to my apt when it was basically a blizzard and it was more consistent in terms of quality and delivery time than anything i expected. got me thru grad school, they did. sesame tofu is great. Ma fun noodles are great and also the moo shoo vegetable.

WOW, just wow!! Open late and fast service with clean kitchen. In town from Arizona we discovered this azin dive at 2:30 after bar close. the crowds that came in there were off the hook friendly and soon enough my pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork and wantons were good to go and hot as hell!! my friend ordered the kungpao chicken and that was wonderful and hot. If you are an idiot you will go to George Webb or the pizza place nearby and wait for hours. this place was fast, fun and friendly. Will def go back!!!

Yuck. This place blows. I was lured to Chopstix one night by their Orange Chicken combo dinners (entree + egg roll + rice for about $8.00 - this was back in 2008). The egg roll was great, but the rice was dry and the chicken itself I'm pretty sure wasn't chicken. There are plenty of other good eats nearby. Please, for your health, just skip Chopstix.

This being one of the only late-night spots open in town we went to check it out but we ended up getting out food to-go because the seating inside was not inviting. Food was pretty good and cheap. I had the schezwan shrimp which was tasty. Nice sized portions and extra spicy like I requested. Nothing really to write home about but it didn't give me a stomach ache afterward so that is cool.

Was in and out of patient rooms today and overheard a news segment on Channel 4's Dirty Dining...Apparently finding a hair in my food wasn't the grossest thing that's happened to anyone eating at Chopstix. No way, never again with this place.

Love this place. The eggrolls are huge and delicious. Best fried rice I've had on the east side. Plus, by far the best crab rangoon you can get around here. I'm on a first name basis here.

Best late night EVER. Some DARN good Chinese too. The staff is great. The place is always spotless. The prices are great. The food is up lickety split. I really miss living around the corner from Chopstix. I used to order so often I started to feel like Miranda from Sex and the City...when she always ordered the same thing and was mocked....? Chopstix, I miss you!

Chopstix is always there for me when I need them. Not only do they have a prime location on the East Side, a block from Brady Street but still relatively close to North Avenue, but they are open hella late, so you pretty much always have access to delicious Chinese food at any time. I don't think I've ever ordered anything other than their fried rice, so I'll speak to that. Their FR is incredibly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, and they give you large chunks of meat if you order, say, pork or chicken fried rice. The people who work there are usually pretty friendly, but at times they're either apathetic or pretty awkward, which is why I docked them a star.

  • Matt M.

this place is absolutely disgusting, both in cleanliness of the premises and the quality of the food. I live literally around the corner from Chopstix but I will never, ever eat their food again. Alternatively, Emperor of China on Brady St. is AWESOME and worth the extra $ (you get what you pay for).

The mobile ordering web site is terrible. It fails on me every time.

I only came here because Mizu (their OTHER restaurant) was closed. I ordered the chicken with string beans but they didn't have string beans - so I ordered a small wonton soup and an order of panfried dumplings. The wonton soup was okay. Typical of a Chinese restaurant. The soup had plenty of sodium. What I am griping about, however, are the dumplings. I didn't even finish a bite. There was something seriously off about them. I opened the styrofoam container and there laid my miserable looking dumplings - completely deep-fried, yet soggy. So bizarre. Not a huge deal - but when I took a bite into it - it seriously cast doubts on whether that was actual pork or chicken. It was sour. I took another bite....nope, still sour. I didn't swallow it. It's Halloween and I didn't want to spend my evening in front of the toilet. I don't think I will be coming back. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants on the East Side.

When I lived on the East Side, Chopstix was my jam! The only reason why that was ever the case, though, was because I generally ordered quite late at night and they had edible food. I can't corroborate others' reports of being served rancid food or receiving messed up orders. Maybe I was lucky. We did schedule pick-up orders a couple of times to find that they had forgotten to make our order. With premade food though, it never took them too long to get it made though. Maybe that's to our detriment, though given their purported history with the health department. My complaint is much more mundane: the food was always just bland. Everything tasted only of soy sauce. There's better Chinese food in Milwaukee, but I guess if it's very late this is an acceptable option.

    (2)
  • Chris W.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't exceptionally good either. Very standard Chinese food. I'd recommend it if you just wanted Chinese food for the sake of getting "ethnic" cuisine, but it's not going to amaze you, unless you've never had Chinese food before.

    (4)
  • Lenny J.

This is the epitome of Chinese restaurant. Open late. Fast delivery. They never give enough information over the phone (like price or time). They even have two phone numbers so that if ones busy they can take your order on the other! Sure the food isn't perfect but its quite tasty. I always order crab rangoons and szechuan pork "make it spicy." Every city should have THAT Chinese place.

  • Andrew S.

I really only come for the bubble tea. It's a quick fix but Pacific Produce on Appleton is better. Gotta get some before the DTs set in.

They say they have fixed the health issues. Food poisoning has proven otherwise thus far.

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the Crab Rangoon and spring rolls were on point and the food took a lot less time then where we normally order Chinese from.. HOWEVER, the experience with the employees was horrific! The delivery driver was unbelievably rude to me and my fiancée! When he got lost trying to find our house we tried to assist him via the phone and he snapped on us and then hung up while were talking twice! Then when I walked half around the block to meet him he was just standing there smoking a cigarette!! I couldn't believe it! Then he was so unbelievably rude to me.. as he was handing the food to me he shoved it at me and then almost dropped it.. he was so rude, talking sass and even swore at me! When I went inside I told my fiancée who called to make a complaint and the in store employees was also so super rude too.. Aside from the crab Rangoon and spring everything was flavorless and the containers were cheap and falling apart. Needless to say we will NOT be ordering from here again!!

They don't have deserve 1star..if I have possibly give no star, I do that. I order delivery by online but different amount charge me and I ask them They said to changed fee..anyway if something changed, they must be told. Before I don't check my acct, I don't know that. Somebody will be order this restaurant...you must checking ur account

Best Chinese takeout or delivery in town! Prompt delivery and their prices can't be beat! Don't even think about ordering from anywhere else!

There was a time, long ago, where all I would say was, "We need to order chopstix!" But that time as 2010, and that time has long passed. It was a time of steaming, quality meat served with fresh rice. Fast forward to date, the portions are still large but the quality has reduced to a hit or miss -more often a miss. Almost entire boxes have been discarded. and the trust has now been broken. So long my college favorite, you are now the equivalent of a Pauly Shore movie... the gold standard only when we didn't know any better.

  • Marcus C.

Simply aweful. I've ordered beef fried rice thinking it's pretty hard to mess up. Boy was I wrong. The oil or grease they used on the rice was literally rancid. Only reason I tried this place was everywhre was closed. I wish I never had.

  • Becky F.

Their online delivery is great, and having ordered over 20 times over the last 5 years that we've lived here, they have never messed up our order. We generally order very late at night, and the delivery is always super quick and the food is very hot and fresh.

    (4)
  • Nati K.

Chopstix is not a place I would ever sit down to eat, but they know how to do delivery. They are fast, cheap and consistent, which is all I want when I look and smell far too heinous to leave the house. Their sweet sesame sauce that poured over their perfectly fried tofu should be in an iv drip as a hangover cure. The portions are huge as well, and can easily serve for several meals. Try their lunch specials, priced at around six bucks you get a slightly smaller portion of the entree, but you also get fried rice and egg rolls, so it ends up being the same amount of food for less money!

I ordered some delivery from here for a friend and I not too long ago. (This move might of resulted from some earlier bar hopping...) We placed our order around 12:30p and I ordered the general tso's tofu dinner with hot and sour soup and my friend ordered the hunan beef. I absolutely love their online ordering site with the options for spice level as well as options. Absolutely perfect, every other online site shoud take note! Our food arrived in about 30 minutes! Awesome. To begin, the portions were great. I definitely had two large meals from the portion I received. If it wasn't so good I might of had a third meal from it! That tofu was prepared perfectly. The sauce was great with just the right amount of heat (I picked the highest spice level when ordering) and the tofu wasn't watery or overpressed. I am definitely going to be a repeat customer with this aspect alone. The hot and sour soup was a little thinner than others I have experienced but the broth was SO good I don't care at all. Mind you though, this is a spicy soup! My friend really liked his dish as well! He said the onions were almost sweet due to being carmelized and that it mixed perfectly with the beef. He is not a foodie by any means so he must have been watching iron chef without my knowledge to say a comment like that...or maybe the dish inspired him! I know I will be going back to Chopstix and if they can replicate this experience there is no doubt they will get five stars in my book!

I have ordered from chopstix for about 4 years now. The food is fine, what you'd expect from a Chinese food delivery joint. However, the customer service is just horrible. The employees and delivery drivers are just rude. I only order from them when all my other options are no longer open. I hope some day soon they hire a more polite staff.

  • Michael R.

I have seriously had microwave dinners that had better chinese food than this place. The General Tso's chicken I had was rubbery with gristle on it. Some of the pieces had breading missing...I think most of the positive reviews are from drunk college students looking for cheap eats late at night.

    (1)
  • Jake N.

Maybe it's because I don't eat the tofu dishes, but this place has terrible food. I think the only redeeming quality is that it's open late. Yup. That must be it. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more money and order from Emperor of China on Brady. Far, far superior food.

    (1)
  • Bartleby F.

I like the food here. The prices continually tick up, which is irritating. They almost always get part of the order wrong, whether it be the rice (you ask for fried they give you white or vice versa) or the meat you choose (one time we ordered chicken and received tofu, not a big deal, but still). Last night they gave us the wrong rice. Their delivery is super quick, but if you use the online ordering system and include the tip, the delivery guys will deny that you already tipped them and want another tip. My suggestion is, if possible, order and then go pick it up. You'll save a couple of bucks in delivery fees. Last night when we went to pick up our order, they didn't have a record of it, so we reordered and then an hour later they called to tell us it was ready. They were apologetic, but this type of thing tends to happen a little too frequently. I like this place because of the mu shoo, it's my favorite. The crab rangoons are also solid. I'm not a fan of their spring rolls. The General Tso is incredibly good, but their sweet n sour dishes tend to be way too much breading. For a noodle dish, try the Singapore Mai Fun. The portions are quite large. We can split one order of General Tso and still have enough left over for a lunch the next day. Yeah, the place isn't the cleanest. People who are acting outraged by what they saw on tv must not have ever set foot in the place because from the front counter, you can see the kitchen.

Used to order from this place all the time - then saw they were on dirty dining. And then for good measure, I peeked in their kitchen when I picked up some food - blech. Plenty of clean restaurants in the area to order take out from...skip it.

When I phoned in to get a carry out order, I decided to check if this place was actual chinese food. Glad to say, the owner is a guy from Shanghai. Authentic Chinese in Milwaukee!! Got the kung pao chicken, and it tastes pretty much spot on to what I am use to. What I like about this place is they don't skimp on the rice, which is crucial for a rice lover like me. In addition, the portions are HUGE, basically you are getting 2 meals for the price of one. The egg roll that comes with a combo dinner could have been done a bit better, way too much oil sogged in that thing. The hot and sour soup though was dead on. Very good. If you can, just get the food for carryout. The delivery surchage seems a bit much steep...

I ordered from here a few times before the fateful health code violation incident, and the food was decent and at an okay price. But alas, I'm a veteran of the food industry and the restaurant I worked at held us at the highest imaginable standard when it came to health and sanitation, so I just cannot bring myself to order from here anymore.

Chopstix used to be my go-to Chinese restaurant during my college days. It could do no wrong. Now, it's a little disappointing. While it was entirely too awesome that I could place a delivery order at 9:20 on a Saturday night and receive it by 9:50, the food just wasn't that great. I ordered sesame chicken, and the meat seemed tough and overcooked. The rice seemed like it had probably had been prepared hours earlier, as the texture was a bit stale. I used to adore their crab rangoon, but tonight they arrived cold and half-filled. I might give them another try in the future, but generally, I'd prefer freshness of food over simply a speedy delivery.

  • Lisa A.

My delivery took 14 min at about 1:15 am on a Sat. How awesome is that? Granted, the price seems to have gone up here. (I used to be able to get a pint of egg fried rice for some insanely low price** ) I paid ~ $14 for veggie Singapore mai fun (noodles) and crab ragoon. The ragoon were like giant empanadas, and one of em seemed to have lost its filling in the fryer, but they definately hit the spot. The Singapore noodles? Hmm..granted they gave me literally what felt like 5 lbs of food (literally falling out of the giant Styrofoam container). They just could have used a little more than the vague curry salty thin spaghetti noodles I got. Veggies were crisp and plentiful (and so were eggs, so thankfully I'm not a vegan). I just prefer this dish really spicy and yellow (like oriental coast used to make it). Oh well, it satisfied my chinese food craving, it came quickly, and it didn't break the bank. Chopstix is kinda fast food ish Chinese, but that's all I'm usually looking for out of Chinese takeout. Looks like they have a opened similar version of this formula for sushi/Japanese/hibachi with the neighboring restaurant /takeout place mizu. Will have to try that soon- they have bubble tea! ** scratch that .. I checked the menu and a small egg fried rice is still $3.

  • Arthur W.

Ordered for delivery, it was fast and still hot upon arrival, not bad considering it was five below zero outside. The food was traditional Chinese take out, but being from New York I have very high standards, so when I say I was happy it should mean something. It would have been five stars if they had boneless spare ribs on the menu

    (4)
  • Jeffrey M.

I use to be all about this place. However quality of the food over the last year or so has dropped to almost non edible.

  • Justin F.

At 2:30AM, I briskly walked back to my abode will full intentions of eating whatever was going to be delivered to me in the shortest amount of time possible. For $10, I ordered some 'gooners, GEN Tsao, and hot and sour soup. By the time I made it back through my door, Chopstix delivery was ringing my buzzer. They are consistent and kind. Their food is hit or miss but given the fact it is after hours your options are slim to none, so, who really cares?

    (3)
  • Jason C.

I have ordered from this place a few times in the past. I would say the food and price is ok, just average. But the thing I dislike about this place is the driver. When he gets to my building everytime he calls on the cell phone and makes me come down and walk out side and meet him. Every other delivery driver comes up to my floor in my building. If you live in a apartment building you might want to keep this in mind

    (3)
  • Chris R.

Always willing to deliver. I used to work at a Chinese restaurant as a youngster and was very picky about where i would get it. When i moved down here gave them a shot and everything i try is good. Only thing i am not a fan of is the egg roles. They taste like cardboard. If you like your food spicy just ask they will gladly accommodate.

I don't usually enjoy Chinese Food, but this place was fantastic. First of all, they have amazingly easy online ordering (so, no offense, I don't have to worry about the staff not speaking English and getting my order right). Second, they have great combo deals- 2 crab rangoon, an entree and fried rice for like $8- and it's a HUGE amount of food. Third, they have a bathroom- which was sooo helpful because I just drank a lot of beer before I came to pick up our order and really needed to pee. Fourth- the pick-up time was quick and accurate. Fifth- all the food tasted fabulous- crab rangoons were pretty good for a chinese place. Orange chicken was deliciously orange crispy amazingness. And the fried rice wasn't too greasy- it was just right. Fifth- loved the fortune I got with my fortune cookie. Would definitely come back here again!

The best late-night meal ever. I was a bit hesitant to eat here when I heard about their issues with the health inspection a few years ago, but they have since cleaned up their act and make a damn good meal. I have never dined in, but I will say that their take-out is pretty quick. They normally say it will take 45 mins, but it will never be any later than that. I once had food arrive in 20 at 8pm on a Saturday night, was extremely surprised and excited. I normally go down the list of the tofu and vegetables list. I absolutely love their Kong Pao Tofu. The vegetables are fresh and crisp and the tofu like someone said is fried to perfection with still a nice soft interior. The Sesame Tofu is crisp and delicious. I enjoy the General Tso's every so often, it is pretty much an order of Sesame Tofu with more spice and chilis. I once tried their Ma Po Tofu thinking it would be like a version that I have had in the past, well, this was soup. Soft uncooked tofu and peas in a broth. Not very appetizing and I threw out the majority. I've heard that this is a style of Ma Po Tofu, so I've just stayed away from it. Of the appetizers I have only ever tried their Spring Rolls. And they are absolutely delicious. The veggie spring roll is packed with fresh shredded veggies and taste so fresh. Some places you can just tell they are sitting around all day, but these are just perfect. If you had a bad experience a few years ago with Chopstix, give it another chance and it will redeem itself.

They were super fast and friendly, and the prices were great for the amount of food we got. Yay leftovers!

Really good food for the price. My favorites are the chicken lo mien and orange chicken.

  • Chrissy O.

I am not a huge Chinese fan, mostly because, being vegetarian I never actually know what their veggie options will actually have in them. However, Chopstix is the exception. They have delicious tofu dishes, and their food is never disgustingly greasy. They deliver until 3AM and it's usually super fast. Their online ordering system is great and they always are really good about special instructions. Sure, it's not glamorous. Their food isn't even served in Chinese take out containers. But it's the only Chinese I'll eat!

  • Erika B.

For the life of me, I do not understand why everyone seems to love Chopstix so much. Perhaps there's some magical delicious Chopstix food that is delivered to everyone but me? The biggest problem this place seems to have is consistency. Sometimes the crab rangoon is done just right, just as often, it's burned. Sometimes the rice tastes like it was just made, other times it's cold and sticky. Sometimes the chicken or beef seems like it comes from a decent cut, other times it's full of nasty gristle or bone. Sometimes the veggies are fresh, sometimes not. I've ordered the curry chicken and had it be hearty, I've ordered the curry chicken and had it be watery. I've had the szechuan broccoli and tofu when it was tasty and had it be disgusting in subsequent deliveries. Sure, it's cheap, and delivery's fast, but I'd rather not play Chinese food roulette with my hard earned money.

Chopstix food is proof of the adage "You get what you pay for." Their prices are hard to beat, but the food is nominal at best. I recently ordered online, which was a good experience. The interface was intuitive and I had no trouble with it. There was, however, a $0.75 online ordering fee, which irked me bit. It estimated my delivery time at 7:33 p.m. (35 minutes) and sent me a confirmation email. All well and good. My order did not arrive until 7:50, so I was very disappointed with the delivery window. I had ordered Pork Fried Rice and Crab Rangoons. The fried rice was hot, fresh and tasty. Half the rangoons were cold, and even the fresh ones were way too cream-cheesy. I will not order these again. Overall, I was disappointed, but not enough to swear off Chopstix for a late-night Chinese food emergency, but enough to seek out better food all other times of the day.

  • Steffi S.

I always get the general tso's chicken, the first time I had it I really enjoyed it. The last time, it was terrible! Rubbery, dry and 3 pieces only had breading without any chicken.

  • Marty S.

Chopstix is my hands down favorite late night food option. With delivery until 3am on Friday/Saturday nights and dinner combos that contain more food then a human stomach can comfortably hold for around $7 (entrée choice of white/fried rice and egg roll/crab rangon). They are very good at adding extra spice to entrees without adding excessive upcharges like some other late night Milwaukee delivery food outlets are famous for. The delivery times can range anywhere from 60 to 15 minutes depending on the time/weather conditions but more often then not my friends and I are surprised at the quick turn around from making the order to getting the phone call saying "hello, Chopstix can you meet me in your building's lobby in 2 minutes?"

    (5)
  • Damoo O.

With Chopstix, the point is quick and satisfying food that's available in the wee hours. The delivery drivers are friendly and prompt. Portions are ample. Be ready to gorge if you want to finish your dinner combo. I've ordered from Chopstix over 20 times. It has become my delivery food of choice when I am hungry but don't want to go out in public.

For the most part, everything I've ordered from here came out really good. LOVE the tofu dishes, fo sho. Takes a while to get your food, but its pretty much worth it. You get a LOT for your money.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
