Other than the people I work with, who goes here anymore? This place is truly lost in the 70's. Dark wood, multi-levels, wood beamed ceilings, wood paneled walls, floors, benches, etc.. EVERYWHERE WOOD!! It felt so much like a 70's movie set, I fully expected to find Starsky and Hutch or a swingers convention in there somewhere. The only thing missing was the shag carpeting. Back some 20 years ago, when I was in college, I used to love the Chancery, thus proving that even though I was college-educated, I didn't know shit. Apparently there are "book smarts" and there are "food smarts". Well, with age comes wisdom and now that I am in my 40's, I certainly know better. It had been years since I've dined here, so being at the mercy of my co-workers who can't ever agree on anything good, I was dragged here. Two of us ordered sandwiches (which were too bready), one ordered Mac 'n Cheese and the fourth ordered pasta. None were stellar, but technically it was food, so two stars for that. Everything was in the $10-13 range for lunch which I deem about $2 too much. The highlight of the lunch was our server who despite her poor choice in places of employment, kept a smile on and a professional attitude the entire time. Hats off to her. We tipped her well. This is probably a good place to go for unadventurous eaters. The selection is vast and no doubt something will appeal to everyone. Just don't be prepared to be impressed.

It's been almost 2 yrs since I've been to Chancery, but I remeber it being pretty 'ok' considering the alternatives. Boy, its gone downhill from average for me since my last visit. Food, was skimpy. Kids chicken tenders had 2 pieces. At BW3 there was 4 or 5. Menu appears to be shorter, which should normally be a good thing, but the options sucked for me. That's why I had 2 appetizers for dinner. Onion soup flavor was nice, but didn't have the cheese that other places do. Lettuce wrap appetizer was just dinky and unexciting. Too heavily sauced. There was MORE sauce on the side which nicely spilled when I went to get a piece of lettuce since it was inconspicuously tucked under the lettuce, needed for making wraps. Really BAD plating idea! Won't go out of my way to come back. Although final bill was cheap.

3-2-15 placed a to go order. When I arrived I stood at the hostess stand for four minutes nobody was there. A party of seven arrive behind me. The bar was bustling so I moved from the hostess stand to the bar and asked the bartender where the hostess was. The bartender said the hostess is right there so I went back to the hostess stand. The other clients move forward and she proceeded to seat them. When she returned I told her that I was there first and that my food was sitting there on the counter. she charge me for my food and then asked if I needed silverware. She said she didn't have a spoon at the hostess stand but if I wanted to wait a little bit should run back to the kitchen and get one. I said no that was fine I was going home anyway. Then she said sorry you're waiting but the other party is more important. I just walked away, that was totally rude.

We came in for a quick lunch and Darla our server was wonderful! Very friendly, great advice on food and quick. She was attentive and even went above and beyond to check for extra Spotted Cow glasses for us. The food was delicious and fast too. We can't wait to come back!!

I have always had a good experience at the Chancery. The staff is friendly and and the service is good. One thing that does take a little getting used to is the layout of the restaurant. It is a tri level setup, with lots of stairs. If you are a person who has trouble with stairs, they do have seating in the bar area. As far as the food goes, they have a good variety of things to choose from. One should not have any trouble finding something they like on the menu. At my last visit, I had the Avocado burger. It comes with red chili mayo and Sargento habanero-jack cheese. It was delicious, and cooked to my liking (rare). One thing that did disappoint me at my last visit was that they no longer have their drink of the day special. They used to feature a different drink every day and have a really good deal on it. Hopefully they bring it back.

New menu replaces classic dishes with things that amount to ramen noodles in straight up teriyaki sauce, like from a bottle at pick n save, for $13. The burger and fries were seriously underdone. Our server was awesome though and had the burger removed. She earned all the stars. The recent menu changes and low quality food lost the stars.

So, the Chancery had it's hey-day about 6-8 years ago. I remember really enjoying several of their locations. Perhaps my tastes have changed. Maybe their ownership changed. I really don't know, but it doesn't have that same flair it used to have for me. The food is still pretty good and I visit every couple of months. It's not great, but it's good and it's not the stuff you're going to find on a national chain menu. Some, maybe, but they still try to have their own brand and they're working it. There's something for everyone on the menu and there's free appetizer popcorn. I've never had food to complain about here. It's never busy. Maybe that's a bad sign. But I can come in here, the servers are friendly (albeit not educated on the menu), I get good eats, no one really bothers me, it's not loud. It's just there, like a lesser known and slightly cooler version of Applebee's. Sometimes you just need food and you're going to wear a hoodie to get get it and you're not going to care. If you need pretty good food, a laid back atmosphere, and a couple of drinks, come on in.

This place is pretty good. The menu is reasonably extensive. I had the Hickory Crusted Burger which comes with bacon, cheddar, and some sort of sauce. It was quite tasty, and I got Door County Cherry BBQ sauce with it at the bartender's suggestion. Good call on the bartender's part. I sat at the bar, and service was good. I wouldn't say it was fantastic service, but I wasn't left with my drink empty or my empty plate in front of me for more than a few minutes.

Fish Fry Review. Awsome good meal. A bit on the salty side but if it's not actually Friday, then this is THE best Fish Fry in town. I've heard of other places with a fish fry on the menu 7 days a week. I've just not found one. Chancery has multiple locations, so you got that going for you too. The waffle fries are fantastic when hot, the cole slaw perfect and the fish with great flavor....maybe the salty seasoning is responsible. I thought the service was super at this location.

I am a fan of the ambience and the draft beer. The Chancery has a very nice, laid back atmosphere. That could be because it is not typically too busy. I enjoy the honey crunch chicken fingers and the waffle fries. The Wisconsin cheese soups was too sharp/rich for my taste. The cobb salad was way over dressed, ask for the dressing on the side. They boast about the cream puffs, but they don't taste like they should, they taste like puff pastry made to look like cream puffs. This is a great place for karoake and to sip a brew and watch the game.

I've been a fan of this place for years, but I'd say the Chancery has gotten to be kinda blah. Not much has changed over the years. By the lack of customers, I'd say that it's time for an update. "Tenderloin" steak sandwich was tough and did not taste like tenderloin. The free Popcorn is always a bonus. Service was pretty good.

the layout was super cool, but the food choices all had a Mexican influance and it was a little pricey

Chancery is one of those places I go because I don't know where else to go and it's near my home. They have a huge menu of sammies, salads, entrees, fish fry, pasta, etc. My favorite thing to order is Freddy's Roasted Garlic Mayo Chicken Sandwich. Be sure to order it fried and with extra garlic mayo on the side. Sooooo good and crispy! Perhaps a panko breading? I always get it with waffle fries, because, well, they serve waffle fries! Got to take advantage of that! Not the healthiest dinner as you can imagine but so worth it. For those who care like I do, Chancery fries in trans-fat free oil. I've also had Zach's Three Cheese Chicken Mac on more than one occasion. It's a good hearty portion of twisty pasta and chicken breast chunks mixed with a creamy cheese sauce, topped with melted shredded cheese and breadcrumbs. It can be really good at times but can be a bit on the dry side occasionally. The atmosphere at each location is different. This location has an outdated wilderness decor that seriously needs a remodel. The place is expansive though with multiple areas on different levels for seating. One plus is that this Chancery can accomodate large groups and there is something for everyone on the menu. We had a birthday dinner here once with around 20 people.

my babcia would think this place is really classy. we go here for lunch sometimes when the dudes get to pick and choose burgers. i don't think i've ordered anything but the unlimited soup and salad with french onion soup, because they have it. the onions aren't really caramelized but there's a lot of cheese, y'all.

I am very disappointed in the Chancery. I have been coming here for years and within the last couple of years it has just gone downhill. The place is like a ghost town, half of the lights are not even turned on and the wait staff is sparse. Somehow I don't understand when there is 3 waitresses and 5 tables total in the whole restaurant why you have to wait about 10 minutes to be waited on. I think the wait staff has gotten so used to not being busy that they do not move too quickly anymore. Tonight I ordered the AYCE shrimp special that they have been running for so many years, I can't even remember when they didn't have it. Thus, I have had it for MANY years. Tonight I think would be the last time I ever have it. The steamed peel & eat shrimp had a very distinct ammonia taste / smell and at first I thought I was just being paranoid but it was definitely there. I ordered a re-order hoping it would be better and it was not, still ammonia. Too bad too because it used to be so good. This review is not based soley on tonight's meal because I understand there are just flukes but the Chancery has not been the same quality of food and service it used to be for a long time now so I would say give it a try but read the reviews and visit the bar, which is very nice.

I agree with other reviews. This place was OK about six years ago. They have steadily gotten worse. You can tell they are cutting cost at the expense of quality ingredients. I order a salad, which strangely lack enough lettuce. The chicken appetizer use to have fries, but no longer. Really unimaginative out of date food. Don't waste your time.

I've been here a few times for lunch. I've never really been blown away by the food, but that's not to say it's not good. The place is friendly, spacious, and has a good ambiance. Menu is decently sized, and prices are okay, if just a bit on the high side for some dishes. I'd recommend trying it!

Love this place! Had a grilled tuna panini and it was amazing.

Who would ever imagined a simple ternderloin steak sandwich with mushrooms could go sooo bad?! Steak was so chewy you couldn't eat it, sauteed mushrooms had a chemical taste to them. That's what I get for starving and pulling into their parking lot. And to insult to injury, really bad kareokee singing was booming into the dining area from the bar.
