This place is Great! They have pretzel bread which is something I've been searching for since I had it a few days ago. I put an order on to pick it up tomorrow because that's a popular bread for the bakery. First thing tomorrow I will be picking that up I also got chocolate chip cookies which were chewy and good. If I wasn't having a late lunch I would have gotten something else yummy from this bakery. Must try!

Breadsmith is carried at Woodmans in Madison and their breads are really fantastic. Their Zucchini bread is wonderful and it keeps well. Heat up a slice, slather with butter, and drink with coffee and my my have I had a good Christmas Eve morning. I am so happy a Milwaukee staple is able to be enjoyed here in Madison.

I love breadsmith. Breadsmith always has fresh bread and cookies for consumption. I originally got hooked on to breadsmith because of pretzel roll buns and my favorite bread..... brioche! The staff members are really nice and attentive. The prices are really reasonable. If you want your bread sliced they will even do that for you. The smells are free at least that's what i was told! The only draw that i have with breadsmith is that some breads are only offered on certain days. I want brioche everyday!

This place has the best bread in Milwaukee. That's all you really need to know... Lol. Most people don't give 2 eff's about their bread. They go to the store and buy it with the rest of their food... I do too. After my cousin kept harping on me to try this Breadsmith place, I finally caved one morning and hit em up style (oops). First thing I saw was the variety of bread. There was a woman and a guy who kind of ignored my half dazed ass as I rolled through the door, but then the woman asked if I needed anything. I was amazed at the variety of bread, but I really shouldn't have been given the name BREADsmith. I didn't want anything overly sweet so I got some fresh Honey Wheat bread to go with my eggs for breakfast. The woman twerkin behind the counter sliced it up for me free of charge and I think the total price was like $5.75 - something like that, and this was one of the cheaper options. When I got back to the cribski and toasted this shiz up, it turned out godly. Bread was nice and thick, packed with real nutrients as opposed to sawdust, pencil shavings, and enriched white bleached half synthetic half cotton slabs of wonder bread. The bread actually fills you up. One slice of this is equivalent in density to compressing 3 or 4 shit bread slices. The place may be a little over priced but so what. If you're going here, it's well worth the quality. They give you a punch card too. When you get it stamped up, you get a free loaf of bread... Talk about bread swag, this is the whole(ly) grai(n)l of bread. "Loaf of bread in my pocket, you mind as well tuck em into bed, goodnight" - Tabi Bonney

Fresh. The hallmark of Breadsmith is that everything they sell is baked fresh. The pretzel buns and rolls are some of the best in town. The breads of all kinds and shapes and varieties make it hard to pick just one. And their sweet bakery will tempt even the most rigid dieter to cheat. Small space, big selection, great flavors, friendly service and FRESH!

Downer Ave around Breadsmith is kind of it's own little town. You can subsist on the businesses on the block and a bread shop is essential. I love their pretzel buns. Some of the other stuff isn't as amazing. I have had their rolls, hamburger buns and ciabatta. Always fresh and nice service. You do need to arrive earlier in the day on weekends (morning or early afternoon) otherwise the selection is wiped out.

Bread is good but the lady working there is a grump. I expect to see lovely and happy people when I go somewhere filled with great smells and goods but instead i got a rude woman who was no help in picking anything out. The pecan scone was hard and dense. Fix the lady at the front and I could look past a bad scone for how good the bread is but otherwise I won't be going back.

This Breadsmith is my jam. Straight carbohydrates. No sandwiches, no multipurpose bakery/soup joint/patisserie. Loaf bread, rolls, baguettes, occasional babkas and a few random cookies for your sweet tooth. They slice it, they wrap it and if you're lucky you get a sample of something delicious they are cooking up. They run a great special occasionally where you can buy a card for $10 that will get you 4 daily loaves. It's well worth it. The staff is friendly and the price for the quality is right.

Wow didn't think I'd be first to review this place. I stopped here before the CMYE event at VIA Downer. This seems to be a theme on Downer, but it is an extremely small space. Just enough space to get in and turn around. In this case, it's no real problem, because all you need to do is come in, pick your bakery, pay and leave. I picked up a loaf of Brioche that they sliced for me. I think that means French Toast for Dinner tonight!

I am so grateful to have this place down the street from me. This Breadsmith pumps out the best and most consistent bread in the city, and the proof is in the pan. Many of the restaurants in the area use their rolls and bread to serve at their place. Although the store is small they have a great selection and a friendly staff. Like many of the businesses on Downer they give great customer service. They have special bread that they give my dog which is in the shape of bones and he loves them as well. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a loaf of this delicious bread and enjoy the glory of the Downer Breadsmith.
