I have driven by this place plenty o time and I never stopped by. I was driving by in my summer toy with the windows down and ac off on a warm afternoon and thought a cold one would hit the spot now so I did a u turn and stopped . The lot had a big yellow bus in it and plenty of spots open at 3pm on a Sunday. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside with a rectangular bar and side rooms with tables and chairs. The tapper is old and is getting replaced the bar tender said but it did have five taps in it. Spotted cow, 3 domestics and one exotic com paired to the other four. The metal arm rest around the bar did have monkeys attaching them to the bar. It's not upscale nor a dive bar but just a nice neighborhood bar and not the neighborhood dump. The bar tender was on point and keeping everyone flowing. I was asked if I was there for the shuttle and I was not. I forget the the name of the exotic beer compared to the other four and that's what I had, flavorful and higher alcohol than miller. I was offered a menu and accepted it even though I was not hungry. It was small with apps, burgers etc. See my pictures. For future knowledge I asked if the burgers are char grilled or my least fav flat grilled and I was told char grilled. The couple next to me were there for the shuttle and paid $ 19 for four double beers, maybe the size of a med soda to ride the shuttle to see Neal young at summer fest. The mix of people were regulars with young and older people with the shuttle crowd. The kitchen was bringing food out to tables so people were eating the food. Overall my visit was enjoyable and I can't complain about anything but I would like to try a burger.

Went for lunch and sat outside. Definitely enhanced the lunchtime experience as the inside is very dark and very much a bar. Perfect for when you want to be in a bar...and it seemed like a bar I'd enjoy being in...but wouldn't have been as nice for lunch. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich and wow, was it better than I think I was expecting. Had an apple-ginger BBQ sauce mixed in and what seemed like homemade coleslaw. Also got the homemade chips and they were stellar. Went there expecting average bar food...ended up have a sandwich and chips that were damn close to "foodie" level. I'd definitely go here again and recommend it for locals.

Jimmy is the best bartender in town. Also, Best Cuban Sandwich in town. Beats Cubanitos

This was our first time at this location. The decor is a bit dated. The staff was generally friendly. One thing that I noticed was their air conditioning was not able to keep up. The half of the bar that housed the pool table was especially warm. It seemed to lack adequate ventilation. We didn't have any mixed drinks, but they did have a good beer selection. What they lacked on tap, they made up for in bottles. They do have a parking lot, but at busy times it may be difficult to find a spot.

This place is ok, not stellar. It's clean and there's plenty of tables, as well as the bar. The music was a good mix, from country to Wild Thing by Tone-Loc. I can't speak for the food because I didn't have any, but my vodka and tonic was strong and tasted good. The prices are definitely reasonable. Brass Monkey just lacks any kind of ambience. For the most part, the people there were in jeans or leggings and sweatshirts. I guess when I go out, I like to step it up a little more than that. It's also small so you catch a breeze every time someone goes outside for a smoke (like every 30 seconds). Just not really my style.

I liked this place. Stopped after an afternoon of golf for a drink and an appetizer. They were out of our first choice so we went with chili cheese fries which were decent but greasy. The bartender was really nice too. Probably will return if I'm in the area.

Great place. New menu. Taco Tuesday and walking distance from our new pad. Win freaking win baby!

Excellent fish fry! A huge piece of fish plus your standard coleslaw & rye bread for a very reasonable price. There's also potato pancakes for an extra buck. The service was outstanding for a busy Friday night. The inside is nothing to write home about but does the job. There's a parking lot too.

Descriptive phrase: suburban attempt at downtown-hip bar. You've all seen Brass Monkey on Greenfield Ave across the street from the Greenfield Golf Course and wondered what goes on there. I'm here to tell you: loud drinking. We ended the night here on our suburban townie bar crawl the night before Thanksgiving. It was fairly packed full of 20-somethings back from college (or reliving it). Half the inside has tall tables and chairs with a handful of bar games, the other half revolves around a giant square bar. We took a seat at the bar. It's actually pretty well set up, with plenty of room, nice decorative brass monkey touches, and nothing to block your view besides the bartenders. There's also a couple giant TV's. The bar had dice, and the tenders were more than happy to serve us up some odd shot requests. It seemed like a townie bar in that everyone knew each other and was having a good time, but was loud and young enough to have been featured down on Water Street in Milwaukee. Overall it's not my normal scene, but Brass Monkey could be a fun time if you're stuck out in the 'burbs.

Unless you're a regular, there is nothing welcoming about this bar. Came in at dinner time on a Saturday. Music was too loud (though the music selection was good) and the sound system was poorly equalized with broken speakers. Finished our drink fast and left.

Grimy. We went for lunch and a beer. The food took a shockingly long time to come out considering how empty the place was. Well over an hour. Nothing special. Wouldn't return with that slow of service.

Came in for the wings and tryed the house flavors, they were excellent! Otherwise the place was clean and inviting

Pros: Good selection of beers. Near greenfield golf course is a bonus. Bring in your scorecard for a free beer. Cons: Sometimes too dark, not as clean as one might like.

We live two blocks away - how have I not reviewed Brass Monkey by now? We're not "regulars", since we just don't go out that much. But New Year's Eve, random nights of playing pool and darts, and various sporting events have brought us in. We love the monkey fingers (cheese sticks) and their pizza is good too - haven't tried their burgers or tacos yet but we are planning to during one of their weeknight specials sometime soon! Drinks are always good and they have a nice selection. Prompt service and reasonable prices. I've never had any trouble with unfriendly service, though it caught me off guard when they carded me at the door once or twice.

Great bar! Bartenders are extremely happy and accommodating. Food is good, would recommend their Mozzarella logs.

I was happy about the fact that they've got Riverwest Stein on tap! The bartenders are welcoming and attentive. One of regulars is an older guy with a mustache who makes for friendly conversation.

Bachelorette party pit stop. It wasn't too busy on a Thursday evening, so we got ourselves a little bar side real estate to sit at. From what I remember, it was a little bit of a dive bar, but a really nice one at that. The bartenders were really friendly, the other patrons were even more friendly. The drinks were really good and the shots were even better. I would go back just to get another taste of that Brass Monkey Breast Milk. And the drinks were cheap too (compared to the city), gotta love that.

Great happy hour here only 2 bucks for bottles and tappers of beer. I think Happy hour is from 2 to 6pm. Taco Tuesday's they have 2 tacos and chips for only 2.50 and they are really good!

Hurrah! Am I the first to lay it down about THE BEST BAR in the world? Fantastic! I hope that my status as an ex-regular does not disqualify this review- before I became a part of the Brass Monkey family, I too was just a lowly patron, passing through looking for something cold to quench my thirst and conversation to warm my lonely heart. As the Brass Monkey has done to so many before me, it becomes a second home and soon you too find yourself going right in instead of waiting in the parking lot for your other friends to arrive because you know that you'll find someone at the bar to keep you company. Bear in mind it is West Allis and this person could be entirely incoherent and nonsensical, but they will still be a good time for awhile. They hooked me by starting to stock my fave Blueberry Vodka, just for me. Even after I moved out of town sure enough I went back and they still had one in the basement. Loyalty is rewarded, so if you want to get your drink faster, you better keep going back at wink at the bartender. The place reeks like concentrated essence of ashtray so don't wear your fancy coat inside. A friend of mine actually threw his clothes away after his first visit there rather than washing them (Smoking ban already Milwaukee!!) Don't piss off the doorman or the guys around the pool table....they can get kind of mean. Definitely eat there- they do amazing bar things in that little kitchen of theirs. Service ends pretty early tho- around 10. The pizza is PHENOM and I've heard the chicken sandwich is fantastic as well. From the prom parties, toga parties, halloween bar crawls, and fund raisers to the random wednesday night I have a life time worth of memories, and relish every trip I get to make back there. Don't forget to rub a monkey's head for good luck before you leave.

My husband and I live near this bar/restraunt and really enjoying coming for dinner, cocktails, and to watch games from time to time. The food is excellent, reasonably priced, the staff is fast to serve you and friendly and it is always clean and well kept. They often have free food during games, and do fun theme nights and outings. The people are great and really take care of their customers. I would highly reccomend it for a nice evening out of the house. It is not bar food it is excellent I have never ordered anything I was not 100% satisfied with their burgers and fish fry are the best in West Allis their pizza is awesome and they have a nice variety. Great atmosphere, great food, great people! A +++ =) Just to update 2015.... Brass has made some excellent additions to their menu the new chef is awesome I highly recommend their loaded Mac and cheese excellent not your typical Mac and cheese it has chicken, bacon, onions and peppers, creamy white sauce comes with garlic bead wedges fantastic well worth $12.00 as its huge I have a meal for next day. The buffalo bites are amazing too. There are many other additions I plan to try but keep reordering these two because they are sooooo good. They have a summerfest shuttle every year which is awesome and I can't say enough good about the excellent friendly staff. Great place and I'm very impressed with new additions also nice new patio furniture cushioned outdoor couches and chairs. Fun place, great attentive friendly staff, great food, great time!

Depending on who's working, you may walk in to crickets... this is a "regulars" bar unless someone friendly is behind the bar.
