We walk here once a week during the summer. The kiddie cones are the perfect size for my toddlers and I love the dip cones. You can't get a true old fashioned dipped cone many places anymore. My hubby has had malts, different sundaes, etc. and has enjoyed them all. Normally I love custard but Boy Blue is definitely worth the trip just for the nostalgia. Be warned, there is no where "official" to sit. We often keep kids in the stroller and sit on the curb to enjoy our treats. Don't forget the napkins.

I have been going to Boy Blue since I was a kid. My mom and I still go together, I drag my friends here to show them just how delicious it is, and I take my niece here too! There is no seating, but honestly I think it's more fun sitting on the hood or trunk of a car. The owner is awesome. Like someone commented before, it's always the same man (his name is Bob!). He's extremely friendly and awesome. I go there so frequently that he knows what I'm going to order... which is the medium krunch cone with twist ice cream, and definitely worth the $3. He also offers "baby"-sized kiddie cones for your toddlers if you don't want them to have a full-size cone. He isn't open when the weather is crappy or if it's below 50degrees. Boy Blue only takes cash. And if you can manage, try to bring smaller bills instead of a $20 as he's usually running low on singles, $5s, and $10s. And sometimes you have to be prepared to wait a little while if the summer night is especially enjoyable because there will be a line and he's a one man show. But like I said, it's totally worth it!

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. I remember passing by it when my grandparent lived in the area. Since then I've moved to the area and have driven by it so many times, often commenting "I need to stop by there one of these days," a sentiment often echoed by my boyfriend. A few weeks ago, we both had a craving for an ice cream cone, so we stopped and are so glad we did. It's truly a neighborhood gem. This past weekend, with the nice warm weekend, we just had to stop for a cone and a sundae after our dinner. It really made for an enjoyable evening after our dinner. As others have noted, there's no seating provided, but we sat on the bumper of our car, enjoying our sweet treats. We've promised to stop more frequently in the future.

Just stopped by today with my wife to enjoy a tasty treat. I have driven past it many times on my way home from work, but it is always closed during that time. However, it is always open during the daytime. They didn't have chocolate when I stopped by today... thinking they were out or something... so I had myself a dipped cone. My wife had a vanilla cone. I thought it was quite tasty. Not as frozen as I like soft serve typically, but it is better than DQ by a longshot. I quite enjoyed the treat. I really love the fact that it is one of those places that has been around for many years, and hope it can continue that. It is definitely a neighborhood gem.

I hope it stays in business forever. This year it was late opening (probably due to weather being so cold) and I was worried he wasn't coming back. As many times as I've been to this place, it's always the same guy. I've never seen anyone else...ever. Great cones and squishies, I thought the price was really good...2 bucks for a cone. Nothing to dislike (well there is no seating).

It's really disappointing when small locations once extremely popular and known through generations close because they can't compete with the majors. This can be said for Boy Blue. For those who don't know, Boy Blue used to have many locations in Milwaukee and steadily began closing them when they struggled to stay in business. Probably because of other "drive-in" competition. To my knowledge, this Boy Blue location is the last location in the surrounding Milwaukee area and at the condition it's in, I don't think it'll stay open for long considering the prices are kind high. Breaks my heart just thinking about it. Surprisingly, the owner has said they still get a good amount of customers in the summer. Which gives me hope, because Boy Blue allows me to relive my childhood every time I purchase chocolate coated vanilla soft-serve on a waffle cone. And you wanna know what's more awesome? You can actually see the chocolate coating happen. So worth the $2.50. I wish I still had the photo I took several weeks ago. Unfortunately, I randomly deleted it from my phone. Also available is your normal menu of ice-cream varieties and snax food.

It was a hot Sunday and I said to my self that I was going to do something I don't normally do which is stop for soft serv ice cream. I'm going to stop at the first place I see which was boy blue. I'm new to this area so I don't know where everything is. Boy blue looks like a throwback from the fifties straight out of the happy days show. It doesn't look like any modern shop. I know Mc Donald's says .49 cent cones but I wanted a neighborhood custard shop or something. The med cone was $2.25 and tasted awsome on a hot day. I have a dairy queen by me but the whole expirence of going to a place that could be 60 years old and to imagine a time a half century ago was cool. I hope this place has great business because this is a cool neighborhood land mark. Please stop by. I don't know what a five star ice cream place is so that's why I gave it four stars.

For $5, my family and I shared a vanilla soft serve cone dipped in chocolate, as well as a large hot fudge sundae. Delicious and well priced! My husband used to visit this location with his grandfather decades ago (the owner told us he's been open 38 years), so it's fun to carry on this tradition with our own children.
