Very disappointing and quite confusing. We tried Lake Park because we had a coupon for a free pitcher of beer (who wouldn't want that!) and we had heard so much good about the place. Upon entering I put in our name for a table. When I asked the hostess how long the wait was she said " it will be as long as it takes the waitress to get to you" What? Apparently, you don't get a table right away. We stood around a very crowded bar until the waitress came and took our order. Then we waited some more ... and some more. Finally, when our food was ready they put us at a table in a dining room where only two other tables were in use so I'm not sure why we couldn't sit down. We had to get our own drinks from the bar as well. Our waitress was nice enough but the whole process is strange. The menu is VERY limited on a Friday night. They have a lot of fish - which I don't eat - but not much else. I had my heart set on a burger but they don't serve burgers on Fridays. Again, what?? I doubt we'll go there again (unless we get another coupon for free beer :-))

We went there last night for fish fry. It was apparently ranked best fish fry in the Valley in 2011, but I don't agree w/that ranking. I mean, it wasn't awful, but it wasn't the best I've had in the area, by far. I highly recommend Old Bavarian's fish fry over this one. The fish was overly greasy and my husband's 4 pieces were pretty small, noticeably smaller than mine. The coleslaw was great, and I'm pretty picky about coleslaw. The tartar sauce was ok, but we didn't get any lemons, which was a bummer because lemon is my favorite fish fry condiment. We both opted for the Icelandic Haddock, beer-battered, and it didn't seem like it was seasoned at all, just very greasy and bland. But anyway, like I said, it wasn't awful, just not great, and definitely didn't meet my expectations for "Best of the Valley." The service was really good, but we sat at the bar because there weren't any tables available, so that wasn't an ideal situation for eating an actual meal. It wasn't packed, but there were groups of people sitting at most of the tables drinking (not eating), which is fair, because it's a bar, but then there were several otherwise vacant tables where it seemed people were just setting their stuff, using up space that could have been put to better use since they were still serving dinner. I'd go back to the place maybe for a Packer game or night out, because the ambiance was nice and the staff was great (besides one guy who seemed to be a dishwasher who was slamming stuff around and stomping like he hated the world, but hey, we all have bad days, right?) but based on this experience I wouldn't go back for fish fry or recommend it to friends for fish fry.

This is a local favorite and they are known for their Friday fish fry. Great staff and they treat you well.

We've heard this place had the best fish fry around, but the wait times were long, so we made sure we were there early. We timed it well, the place wasn't that busy. We went to the hostess who gave us menus and we asked if we just found a table or if they seated us. She simply said, "we don't serve until 4:30." Ok, fine, but she could have then told us how the process worked, but she did not. We sat at a high table in the bar and upon touching one of the menus, my fingers stuck to it. It's not like these menus were on their 3rd or 4th turn of the night, we were some of the first people there for dinner. Next I go to the bar for some sodas...the bar staff isn't friendly, not even pleasant. He gave me the 2 cans of soda and 2 glasses of ice and I went back to the table. I was about to pour my soda into the glass when I noticed their was some gunk in with my ice, but I go with the flow...I just drank from the can. Our waitress then comes to our table and I notice she's wearing flip-flops. I'm not impressed but figure she maybe just takes the orders in the bar and gets nowhere near the food, but after taking our order she walks into the kitchen! Um...ever heard of the Health Code? Is anyone there certified in safe and proper food handling by the state? Then she comes to tell us we are at table 7 and walks away. When we go into the dining area, our food is on table 10. Within about a minute of sitting down, the waitress comes back and asks if we need anything...we've barely had a chance to take a bite. That was the last time we saw her. I had the beer battered haddock and it was greasy and bland. I don't know if the cook knows the beer goes IN the batter. The onion rings were also very greasy, both the fish and the rings left my lips greasy. The pike my girlfriend had was also greasy and didn't taste like it knew what simple salt and pepper were. My girlfriend, who manages a deli and IS certified by the state in Safe Food Handling, said that the oil must not have been hot enough because that's how fried food ends up being that greasy. We stopped eating and our plates were full of food and we waited for our waitress...and waited...and waited. We finally left the dining area for the hostess stand to ask for our check because it was clear she wasn't coming back. NOW the waitress shows up with our bill at the hostess stand. Over 30 bucks for food we barely touched. My girlfriend headed for the door, but I leaned in to let the hostess know about our horrible experience and that we were first time customers but would not be returning and why...including that a server wearing flip-flops is against the health code! She gave a lackluster sorry as I walked out. If your looking for a good fish fry, think twice...if you are looking for a pleasant experience as a customer, drive past this place with haste. All in all, I advise you spend your hard earned money elsewhere because they don't seem to want it here!

Great happy hour and lunch specials during the week. Great food at a good price. Nice atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced as well.

Just returned from friday fish fry. This place has a problem that they can't afford to address, or aren't willing to address. The food isn't worth the wait. They are up-front about the wait, but you should be prepared to be meagerly satisfied for the amount of time you invest. . My Brandy Old Fashioned was made with a squirt from a converted ketchup bottle. I asked for a Diet Coke and was handed a can of Diet Pepsi, didn't even ask if it was ok. The two bartenders who served me were as uninterested as they could be. We stood by the pool table, which is next to one of the two entrances, and the hostess station. Half of the people who came in, left because of the wait. Imagine being a business owner and being okay with watching that much business walk out every Friday. Congratulations on continuing to pack them in on Fridays, but I can't see you sustaining Friday business at this service level. My $45 for dinner/drinks for two is better spent on steaks from Haen's and a dinner on the grill at home.

I give this place a 3. The food is good most of the time but I have had better. I've gotten burnt food two times before this so I'm not sure how they got the "best fish fry in the Valley" rating because I could name a few places much better with friendlier staff. The wait staff needs to take a class on customer service because they aren't very friendly when they come to your table. We asked for a drink and she told us the bar is right there.

Best Fish Fry in the Valley! I have been trying as many fish frys as I could, searching for that quality place. Too often we find soggy, oily, rectangular fried fish. Not here! The fish is flaky, crispy and superb! (Also shaped like real pieces of meat) My mother-in-law also tried the baked fish and ate the entire thing, which she rarely does. Plan on waiting for a table, it is usually pretty busy. But SOOOO worth it!
