Went there a few more times since the last visit. The food got saltier. Could barely eat my food. Haven't been back in over 2 years.

This place was awful! It's a Mexican restaurant and it's all Harley Davidson inside.. and our bill..we each had a meal and a margarita, was $45!!!! Customer service was slow. Never going there again! We could have gone to a very nice restaurant and had an amazing dining experience for $45.

I recently moved to town and have struggled to find good restaurants and bars. Tijuana Rose came highly recommended, and I've been averaging twice a week there! I tried to go my first night in town. We pulled up at 8:30ish on a Saturday night. The sign said Open. We parked and walked to the door and it was closed. They are closed Sunday and Monday, so we tried again on Tuesday, and the same exact thing happened!! I wouldn't have bothered trying to go again, but my fiance, who had been there before, insisted that we try again. - He had a good point. Tijuana Rose is owned and run by a husband and wife team. If it's not busy, why stay open? I am so glad we gave them another chance! Out front is the bar, which has Harley paraphernalia, lava lamps everywhere, and a bikerific juke box. Steve the biker/owner/bartender makes a badass margarita. The house margarita is 7 shots! No sour mix either. They are dangerously good, and dangerously stiff. The dining area is small, but bright and cute. The outdoor patio is nice too, but outdoor tables are hard to come by on a nice weekend night, so get there early. The menu has a lot to choose from. I'm pescetarian, which makes it hard to eat at most places in Wisconsin, but I have a few good options here. The vegetarian tacos, made with portabello, are great, and the fish tacos are AMAZING. A week ago, I had them for dinner two nights in a row! - Rosa, the owner/cook is from Mexico, and everyone who knows says the food is authentic. Great, unassuming food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service keep us coming back multiple times a week! Tips - get there much earlier than the listed 9pm closing time, and ask for the guacamole. It's not on the menu, but they make it and it's good!

YUM! The flavorful authentic Mexican food is homemade and obviously prepared with care by the chef/owner who is such a nice lady, as is her husband who makes some tasty and strong drinks. The decor and music transports you to another place that is perfect for a casual meal with friends/family, but can also serve as a romantic evening with a special person. The price is more than fair and I cannot wait to go back (which I plan on doing every time I am back in town)! If you like Mexican food and are looking up where to eat in Manitowoc, don't look any further...this is where you should go!

Went here on while on vacation. Had margaritas on the patio and dinner. First had low-brow margaritas made from a mix. A lot of places do this and here it was the same. The food is beyond not authentic. Just order the nachos and you'll see the baseball park yellow velveeta cheese. Horrible, just horrible. No Mexican cook made these nachos. And the prices are no discount either. Sorry, but the food is just plain not authentic and bad to boot. Oh wait, I almost forgot to mention the refried beans. How do you mess up beans? Just ask them here. You just forget to add salt, then serve to customers. Really? You can't make beans? For the other two "5 star" reviews that think this place is Mexican food, I can't blame them because there are no other alternatives for miles.

It's kind of dirty inside. The food was average. I prefer El Alamo on Marshall Street.

This is where I go to get my Mexican food fix. This place serves the best authentic Mexican food in the county. Everything is delicious here so don't be afraid to try something new. They offer a large variety of Mexican dishes, so many you'll have a hard time choosing. Some mighty fine drinks are served as well. Smoke free, great Mexican food.

steak tacos are by far the best i have had!! margaritas are a bit pricey and seems to be made from a mix, but overall decor and atmosphere will assure you have a good time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
