Love this place! The food is hot/delicious and the servers are always friendly. I love the zarape and the pork tamales. And you can't beat 2-4-1 margaritas all week. I'm a tequila snob and these are the only house margs I'll drink. Check this place out for some good mexican food in Hudson, WI.

Every single plate I have had here tastes like it's from a can or frozen. 2 for 1 margaritas are worth it though. Food, not so much. Go to Mariachi Loco for food ;)

Goin to have to downgrade my first review of this place. Since my first visit, I've noticed the kitchen is quite inconsistent on how well the food is prepared each visit. The Queso blanco dip was flavorless and the shrimp enchiladas con papas that were so divine now were terrible. Overdone shrimp, lumpy potatoes, and I found stems in my bell peppers. I had to give my meal to my dog. On the other hand, the corn tamales my husband had last time were horribly thick in corn meal and were done perfectly this time. If this restaurant wants to last, they better get it together and keep to standards in the kitchen!

Very hard to find a restaurant in Hudson which will welcome a dog. Azul Tequila welcomes us and dog on their patio and treat and serve us like royalty. They have a great soup and good chicken quesadilla which I always take half of it home.

this place needs a good cleaning from top to bottom---the ladies bathroom was gross...It just has a dark and grimy feel----I tasted the chips and cheese and the chips were stale --the cheese was uninspired. I was afraid to order and eat anything else so I just slammed a beer and moved along....The staff were personable and friendly but it did not make up for the place being in my opinion dirty..

I have been here a few times & been completely satisfied. Great options, drinks were good. Food was fresh & hot, not kinda hot, more like you need to wait so you don't burn your mouth hot!! I love that in a restaurant! Good service, good value. Told my husband that they could halve the portion size & I'd still pay for it!

Could not agree more with the dirty glass comment. I thought it may have been something I was being picky about but holy cow...I received two dirty glasses. Yes, it happened twice in the same visit. Very strange. Inconsistent from the kitchen. I have tried this place three times and will not be back. My friends enjoy the margaritas.....however in the future, I will recommend we go to a place with CLEAN dishes.

I really want to like this place but every time we go here we have to wait 10-20 minutes just to take our order. We had people who came in after us get there orders in before we where even a thought. Our waiter didn't know what he was doing and didn't even put our total on our bill. The food is good but they don't know how to run the front end, or at least our side of the restaurant.

Loved it! My husband and I were passing through and stopped in last minute. They have buy 1 get 1 free margarita's all day, everyday. We sat at the bar rail and the Thursday afternoon female bartender was very friendly. She was quick to acknowledge us and very willing to help us. She brought us water and chips with two kinds of salsa. Both salsas were awesome! One was very mild and hardly had an onion in it, which I love not having a ton of onions in my salsa. The other salsa had a kick to it and tons and tons of cilantro. I ate a bowl of each salsa. The chips were warm and fresh. I cannot eat dairy or meat or lard if it is in the refried beans. Our server asked the kitchen and the beans are made with oil... score! I have 3 bean enchiladas with rice & beans ($8.99) and my husband had pollo de crema ($9.99/$10.99) which he gave 4 stars too. My two margarita's were $5.25, I had them on the rocks, with vodka instead of tequila and with flavor. We left a 25% tip which was well deserved for great food at good prices and cheap drinks. We will return if we are in the area again.

Very yummy food. Everything had flavor. The prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food you get! The only downside was the floors seemed slippery like they were not cleaned well enough. I would totally return!

Love this place. Come here multiple times food is always great, service is always great, & food always comes out fast. Idk why all these other pple rate it so poorly. I've tried the traditional, vegetarian, and seafood meals and all have been great. Maybe the pple with the poor reviews should give it another chance.

Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. I had the fajitas and they were great. I have two kids and they both enjoyed the kids menu food as well. My wife had the chicken enchiladas and stated that the chicken was really good inside.

It was the worst food I've ever had at a restaurant. This place actually gives me a reason to recommend Taco Bell. We had four in our group and no one liked any of their dishes, nor finished them. I will say the complimentary chips and salsa were good so maybe at the very least this place can offer a beer and chips. Two people ordered margaritas. The traditional style tasted like the ocean and my friend would suck up salt chunks as he sipped. The mango margarita was over the top sweet and didn't taste like anything but sugar. Service was slow and the hostess that sat us had an "I don't give a f**k" attitude and chucked the menus on the table. Back to the food. We had an assortment of dishes. All of which tasted like soggy paper. There was absolutely no flavor (at least nothing that tasted like food). It seems like they bought all their food frozen from some other awful restaurant that shut down years ago and now they're trying to reheat it and pass it off for $8 a plate. As we left, we felt sick, angry, and insulted that they would actually serve that food to us. Do not go here, go anywhere else and it will be better than this place.

Meh, the food, was ok. I had the chimichanga. It didn't taste very mexican, the insides were more like bland pot roast with a can of mild chilies added. The mango margarita tasted like some sort of cleaning product. Probably, a mix and not a good one. If it wasn't a mix then they seriously need to work on their recipe! Basically, I wasn't expecting much, people had told me that they like it for the atmosphere and huge plates, and that the food is bland and that is all true. Today I tried Fiesta Loca, a smaller restaurant on the other side of 94. It has the same types of food on their menu, but they seem to get better reviews and in my opinion my meal there was much better than my meal at Azul.

Service - ok Salsa - sweet but ok Hot salsa - NASTY looked like somthing you'd find in a babies diaper and tasted like chili powder w/ water adde Chicken Chimi - plain dry chicken not much flavor Enchiliada - not good Bottom line: Won't be back. Food lacked taste/flavor. Service was not great, they acted like they were doing you a favor. Bring back the other mexican place

We have waited a long time to have a good Mexican restaurant come to Hudson. I watched as the Azul Tequila was built out and finally opened. Sadly, it looks like I'll be waiting much longer as the food and service proved to be a huge disappointment. Let's start with the salsa and chips. This was the highlight of the meal. We were presented with a large basket of fresh corn chips and two nicely sized servings of a light tomato salsa and another bowl of chili salsa with just the right amount of spice. The menus are huge and without a flashlight nearly impossible to read. The orange background with darker orange corners gave no contrast to the huge selection of dishes. The takeout menus might give use the ability to make our selections at home before our next visit. Yes, we're going to give Azul another chance to see if things might improve. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas with a soft shell chicken taco, which were pretty good, but the rice was pretty tasteless and nondescript. I ordered three beef tacos with beans and rice. The beef was absolutely tasteless and even the addition of the hot sauce, on the table, was not enough to add any flavor. The chicken enchilada I ordered was also lacking in flavor and the watery sauce was disappointing. Hopefully, management will accept this review as an opportunity to make changes in the food and the menu. The server tried hard, but seemed nervous. I'll assume this was due to the newness of the restaurant. I'll give it one more chance before I give up on Azul Tequila.

I took my wife and son here after he had karate next door one night and had high hopes. The restaurant is very nice looking inside and the staff at the door was friendly but that is where the positives end. The waitress was very unattentive and we did without silverware or napkins for quite a while, even after the chips and salsa came up. Drinks came about 10 minutes after the chips and salsa. The main course was not good at all, it was very bland. I had a taco and a chili relleno, neither tasted as I would expect. We tried their fried ice cream and found it to be really bad. The "dough" on it was between a quarter to half an inch thick and was really mushy. The prices weren't bad but the food just wasn't good and our waitress was pretty lousy.

I have been there twice. The menu is HUGE! That is always a clue that the restaurant doesn't do anything very well. The worst thing I tasted was the taco salad. It was a brutal soggy mess. I wish it was better, but it isn't.

Great atmosphere, lead me to feel like I was going to be in for an enjoyable night of great food & drinks. Mexican food and margaritas are my favorite combination! Sorry to say my expectations were not met. We arrived later in the evening around 8:00 so not to be in the dinner rush. We sat in the bar area and our server was nice, and all was well. Then the disappointments started. Salsa was marginal in flavor and was separating in the dish watery around the edges. The chips were fresh and enjoyable, better without the salsa. Then my top shelf margarita was anything but, it took me all night to finish it. It tasted ok but not good, like they forgot some of the ingredients, my husband had a bottled beer so no problem with that. We were disappointed in the food, not flavorful, not impressive. Our nachos had the cheese sauce drizzled, reminded me of chips & cheese from a vending stand. We will not be going back, not even for a drink at the bar, will spend our money for a better experience at many of the other great restaurants in Hudson.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
