Two classmates from High School now live in the area and selected the SteakHouse & Lodge for a mini reunion. A group of us converged for a long weekend at the Lodge and took up all but one room...it was a blast and perfect for our needs. An added plus - each room had sliding glass doors that led to shared patio with chairs in back where we could all hang out. The Steakhouse had nice ambiance and a separate bar provided a good venue to socialize before or after dinner. Food was reasonably priced - portion size was a little over the top. I could have split a meal and still had too much to eat. Service was good even though we had about 27 people in our group. Overall I found all of the staff at the Lodge to be very friendly and service oriented....I would definitely return for another reunion or if I ever find myself back in Hayward for a visit.

Um, excuse me Steakhouse... why did you charge me extra for my steak to be topped with ONIONS??? Seriously, was their an onion shortage that I didn't hear about? It's a bit offensive and will cause me to not go back, simply on principle. You sure look nice...but watch out for hidden costs. That's all.

The restaurant itself is pretty cute. The dining area was empty except for a group of older ladies, so my coworker and I chose to dine in the bar area. The foods I can eat are pretty limited due to dietary restrictions, so I got the salmon with steamed vegetables. Nothing spectacular, but I don't really have any complaints. The dish itself was basic and pretty hard to mess up. The service was inattentive - the waitstaff seemed to be saving all their energy for the locals.

We didn't stay in the hotel, but we ate at the restaurant twice. Great cuts. Real good food.

Great steaks! Great potatoes! Skip the dinner salad, though. We really enjoyed this place and had a great time!

Went here with my wife and in laws. Should have turned around when I saw all the Christmas light decor at the end of May. Ordered Gibson martini and they did not have any onions so they brought olives. The rib eyes ordered medium rare was medium well. I ate some of it and showed the waitress Holly. She apologized and took my drink off the bill (keep in mind this was the drink that they were not able to make right to begin with). The steak fry potatoes were a hodgepodge of grease with onions and mushrooms. They overloaded plates instead of putting steak on one plate and sides on the other making it hard to cut. Holly forgot the wine until I reminded her and then almost poured the wine into my full water glass. Worst part about it all was a check was brought for the original bill and then a second one with the drink adjusted off. Not paying attention, we paid and tipped on both bills in cash. Once we arrived home and realized our mistake we called and were told the cash would be there the next day in the am. Upon arrival, we realized that Holly had still kept the entire tip amount for both bills. When we inquired with the manager, she shrugged it off and laughed about it. Why would be tip 40% for a below average meal and below average service? There are better places in Hayward than this to it. Stay away.

I ate at The Steakhouse & Lodge onet night because I was staying next door at the Flat Creek Inn, and overall, I wasn't too impressed with the food here. I was in Hayward for the World Lumberjack Championships, and the after party was located here. For that reason, the service was very rushed and spotty because I bet they don't have this many people at once very often. I will say that the wine prices are very low. We ordered a bottle of Silver Oak from 2009 for close to $100. In DC, I would easily be $300 for $400, so it's a veritable steal in Wisconsin. I started with the fried cheese curds, which were not that great. I was generally disappointed in the offerings here. For entrée, I ordered the black and blue salad, but it was not very good. All the dressing came on the side, so that was kind of messy. I would have appreciated the salad mixed up and tossed together. I don't know if this is every night or just that Saturday night, but they had a live band there playing 80s hits. Didn't really fit the whole steakhouse and lodge vibe, but it was a fun time. Overall, I wasn't too impressed the food and service at The Steakhouse & Lodge. But the same time, I don't really expect DC levels of food service, so it's not like I can't recommend the restaurant.

Went there last night for dinner with my family. The place is fairly large with a pretty big bar too that's in a separate area. Great food. Good ambiance. Nice wine selection and also a menu with all different kinds of martinis. It took a while for the food to come out and also the waitress seemed pretty overwhelmed even though the dining room wasn't full. I'm pretty sure she was the only waitress though so maybe that was why. I think she needed some help. Will definitely be going back there. The food was delicious!

The Steakhouse hosted our wedding ceremony and reception. It was an absolutely great experience from beginning to end. Peggy (owner/manager) knew exactly how to help us out and made it clear that they would accommodate us however they could. The day went so smoothly and we got rave reviews from our friends and family. I know it sounds odd to get married in a restaurant, but the "lodge" decor and the open room were decorated just as beautiful as any ballroom. Then, a quick transition to dinner and time to party! The food was amazing (steaks are out of this world and chicken was so yummy). Hotel rooms are very nice: comfy, clean, and you have your own patio area overlooking their pond landscaping. Very happy with our choice to have our special day here and we have wonderful memories :)

My sister's wedding was here a few weeks ago, and it was just a wonderful venue for it. They were extremely organized and kept everything running smoothly and on time. They transitioned the dining room from being set up for the ceremony to set up for the reception very quickly. I also appreciated that dinner was served instead of being a buffet that takes forever to get everyone through. We were served quickly, and the food was delicious (we had steak, chicken cordon bleu, and pasta primavera). The bartenders, servers, and other staff were wonderful. I didn't stay in the lodge, but we did have a few rooms reserved, and it was super convenient to have that space available so close to the wedding.

We have been trying different restaurants in this area, looking for something new. This was quite an intersting "find." The one thing that I will have to say about this restaurant is the Prime Rib was the best I've ever had. I have never had such tender, flavorful prime rib - how do they do it, and why can't other restaurants figure this out? I hope it was not a fluke! Anyway, the other comments I have are the prices are a little bit higher than similar food at other restaurants in the area, but since the prime rib was so much better it's probably worth the $3-4 extra dollars. Other things we tried were the Friday Night fish fry - broiled haddock which was good but nothing special. It also came with baked chicken which was also not special at all - just baked chicken. The steakhouse potatoes were different and pretty good, potato wedges cooked with small red peppers and some really good mushrooms. The waitress described the soup of the day, fish chowder, as "Like clam chowder but thinner and with fish" which was actually an accurate description - again the soup was okay. We had the crab cakes, which really looked like two large crab pancakes on a bed of some kind of white sauce - again, they were just okay, for $10 we won't get them again. So I would definitely come back here if I wanted some really good prime rib, the other stuff was just okay, and as I said, a bit pricey which was why I only gave 4 stars.
