Overall, I'm a fan of Weissgerber's restaurants and this is my first review in Yelp and 10 years ago, they would have received 5 stars. Seven Seas should get an overall 3.5 stars in my book (but I can't give half star) and to summarize, okay to very good food, good service but does not live up to the Golden Mast or Hans' (senior) vision and tradition for fine dining, impeccable service experience and excellent food/menu. We came here for Mother's Day brunch many years and stopped 3 years ago because the value and quality went down every year. Follow me to see my review of where we go now in a few weeks! My grandfather was a close friend of Hans and Maria Weissgerber and saw the growth and expansion from Golden Mast to what they have now. We had a party of 4 for dinner last night and most of us had the fish fry and another had the Salmon. As mentioned, overall good but value doesn't live up to what I have grown to expect from a Weissgerber restaurant. I am more than willing to pay if the service and food meets or exceeds (value). As my grandfather always said, "it only take a little more ($) to go first class!" Last night we paid to go first class and we never made it out of coach. $45 per person with only 3 wines and 3 desserts added to a party of 4 with 3 fish fry and a salmon entree. The fish fry is family style. The cole slaw is amazing. Fresh cabbage and not over vinegar. Potato salad too much onion as everyone mentioned that in our party. Fish fry overall is good, but not the best in the area nor for the price $16 per plate. Now, if you follow my reviews, whenever I have a chance to sample a restaurant's creme brûlée I do. I feel this is a great way to measure the quality of a restaurant. Seven Seas creme brûlée was not real creme brûlée. It is suppose to be an egg custard. The schaum torte with raspberry chambered was amazing as was the apple strudel. The setting and ambiance is amazing. The view of the lake and water fall next to us. Linen and clean. In short, I know what the Weissgerber's expectations are for service and work ethics. I cannot give a complete review for service as my friend mentioned I was using pictures I was taking for Yelp and suddenly our overall service ramped up. I had to explain to my friend that is not my intention to get better service, but we were out for his birthday. If you want an overall better fish fry (quality and value) I can recommend in the area to try the 5 O'Clock Club , Butler Inn or even Genesee Depot Cafe (half the price).

POOR service .... lil German hostess just looked at us, shuffled some papers and took into the dining area, we stood there for 8 min. nobody else presented themselves . Then she comes back, puts us on a list .... but it's not busy...I see many open tables. She says : it will be a little while" - I say what does that calculate in time ? She : 20 minutes !! - what ? really? Reluctantly we go to the bar, Again - not too busy --- we are ignored for " a little while " the tall red-haired " bartender " tends to other customers that have been there, to serve more drinks, on several different occasions. Until another " bartender" arrives and they chit- chat then " red " says " get those two over there". I give a wise a$$ comment - we order two beers, " a little while " our name are called for dinner, we enter the " sea of empty tables " - order FishFry - waitress so far - ok -- until we want more fish -- staff has all but disappeared. Food --- really NO flavor - Service T E R R I B L E -- free beer / not worth it.. ---- never going back ---- telling the world : )

Went for the first time on our annual family visit to Milwaukee. This restaurant was not only beautiful buy the food was phenomenal. Service was helpful and unobtrusive but the food set the tone for the evening. I had one of the best meals of my life. Superb. The wine pairing, suggested by the waiter, was also spectacular. This just proves, once again, that keeping up standards at a restaurant like this will keep people (families as well) coming back for years to come. I sure will.

This review is for a specific event here, the Little Smoke cigar event to raise money for Cigar Rights of America. Fabulous event. The cigar manufacturers all sponsor tables and you choose which one to sit at. My wife and I sat at the Torano table and had a wonderful time with our rep Miguel. The Seven Seas has a beautiful site just off the lake and a great pavilion perfect for events such as this. The staff from seven seas and LCC the hosts were great, very courteous and efficient. There were times that a third bartender would have been nice but the two ladies on duty did very well at accommodating everyone and wait times were not too bad for an event this big. The food was a nice buffet with brats and chicken as the entrees. The brats had a bit too fine of a grind for my taste but the chicken was very good considering they left the skin on in a marinade. Though it wasn't crispy, it also wasn't flubby at all, they had done a nice job of rendering the fat out of the skin to avoid that. The sides of mashed potatoes and nacho chips were a little disjointed but both were good. There were a lot of good deals on cigars and products to help raise funds as well as some nice silent auction items. The only real knock was the weather was so humid that unless you had a table at the edge of the pavilion it was rather uncomfortable. I'm surprised that the seven seas doesn't put some ceiling fans in the pavilion to get some air flow in there. Overall a great event and my wife and I look forward to going again next year!

We went here last night for a large group sponsored by the Cigar Babes of the Lakecountry Cigars. The food was chicken and shrimp served buffet style, and everyhing was very good. The service was friendly and prompt all evening. The bartender was not too friendly, but they may be because there was free tap beer. Either way, I want to go back and try a fish fry on the patio. A truly amazing view!

So this is the third time I've been to Seven Seas, all three times have been family events in which I have had no part in choosing this restaurant. The first time was more than 10 years ago, and to be honest, I remember nothing other than the beautiful view. The second time was a couple of years ago, and I went with high hopes, and left feeling quiet disappointed about the quality of my entree ( don't remember other than it was fish), especially considering the price. Fast forward two years, and I am now a vegan. Naturally this is not a restaurant I would have chosen, but I tired to make the best of it. I asked the waiter a few questions about the only entree that could reasonably be made vegan, and since the pasta has eggs in it, that was a no-go. I asked if it would be at all possible for the kitchen to make something for me, and all he did was suggest items off of the menu that weren't even close to being vegan. So, not only did he not understand what vegan means (after I had explained, no meat, no dairy, no egg), he didn't even bother to go back to the kitchen and see what could be done. At a restaurant like this, at a special family occasion, that was really not something I was expecting. Surely the kitchen would have been able to cook some vegetables and rice in some olive oil, right? Those were all things that were on the menu elsewhere, so why wasn't I offered anything at all? It's not like I would have been picky, I was ready to accept anything they could offer. I ended up with the spinach salad, sans eggs and bacon dressing, so at this supposed fine dining establishment, the best meal they could provide me was a plate of spinach with a few tiny slices of beets and a few red onions and some balsamic dressing. My second problem was the service in general. The waiter made everyone shout their orders across our very large table, instead of moving around to each person. Not sure what the proper etiquette actually is, but having to shout orders across other people definitely didn't seem right. The service in general was slow, we had to ask for the bill, and more bread, and the desserts were brought out so that some people were finished before others even received theirs. I had wanted to order another glass of wine towards the end of the meal, but he never asked or gave me the opportunity to do so. Third was that for what everyone else at the table paid for their entrees (at least $30), the quality was just not there. My husband order the special (fish), and not only did it come out looking like a pile of reheated greasy garbage from Red Lobster, he said that the fish was overcooked and that entree as a whole was just not good. Honestly, the best thing that I can say about the Seven Seas is that they are on a pretty lake, and that, as far as I know, I don't ever have to go there again.

I recently held a private party here for a bridal shower. The staff was excellent. We had the Tower Room facing the lake. I loved all the windows to take in the view. Everything was setup nicely and the wait staff & bartender were excellent. I had many compliments from the guests on how delicious our appetizers and salmon sandwich was. Their prices are decent and I handled all arrangements either by phone or email prior with a most efficient party coordinator (Amanda). Thank you.

View is nice, food Ok, service average. What restaurant these days charge for ice tea refills, I know of just one Seven Seas and they don't even say anything but when the bill comes you get charged $9.00 for three ice teas. I will never go back there again and I am sure I will tell other people about what happened to me.

Went to a wedding here and was very impressed with the atmosphere and the food. The ceremony was outdoors on the patio with a cute wooden trellis. To the left was Nagawicka lake. If I were the owner of this place, I would construct some kind of patio so that the audience could face the lake. It had a gorgeous view, especially at sunset. Then we went indoors for open bar and appetizers. The area was small and the ceiling was wicked low and I felt slightly claustrophobic. Several people at this wedding are very tall and one of them hit one of the chandeliers since it was so low!! The drink selection was great- good beer and Hendricks gin for me, so I was happy. When it got to the point where I had to pay for my hendricks and tonic, it was $7.50 which seemed cheap by my new Boston standards but expensive by my old wisconsin standards. The apps were carried around inside and outside by waiters. There was bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, chicken quasadillas, and buffalo chicken wings. all of them were pretty good. (note to self- so not eat buffalo chicken wings at a wedding where I am already sweating from the heat!). Next we moved on to dinner at an outdoor covered patio. The area was small but decent. Before dinner we toasted with champagne and then got red and white wines. Then we got salads and bread- also pretty good. The buffet food was served in a wooden boat- nice touch. The buffet had cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, a whole large fish, rice with chicken, pork and beef, and potato wedges. There was a bar out here too for drinks. I thought everything was pretty good. Not amazing, but surprisingly good for a buffet wedding. All of the staff i encountered were pretty friendly. Then we had dancing next to the dinner area. Again, small area but it did the job and it was a lot of fun. Only problem was right around the end of dancing the mosquitoes came out and we are got miserably attacked. Needed some citronella candles or something!! Then we went back inside to the bar for our friends band to play, for more dancing and drinks. All in all, I thought this facility was great for a small outdoor wedding and I would highly recommend it with the exception of my few small concerns I notes above.

The Seven Seas has a wonderful atmosphere - right on Nagawicka lake - and the food is fantastic! I recommend the soups - it's a great winter food and they are made fresh daily - baked french onion is my favorite:)

Drove up from Illinois to meet friends for a fish fry. Had dined at this restaurant many many years ago...and remember a pleasant experience. However this time was a huge let down. The only thing enjoyable was the view. The service was okay to good...the server was not bad but we have had better servers. The food was just let me say..."edible" for a lack of words. I had baked cod we had no other choice except for catfish. I was hoping for perch or walleye. Some of the guests got it fried. It is served family style with cole slaw, fries, and potatoe pancakes. My husband said the potatoe pancakes were the best part of the meal. My cod was over cooked and rubbery. I would think the chef would know how to cook fish. Perhaps we are spoiled from all the wonderful restaurants in Illinois but am surprised this place has continued to stay in business. It is old fashioned to say the least. Get a new chef that knows how to cook. It is a beautiful place and deserves one. Prices were more than they should have been for what we had.....but then had the meal been outstanding we wouldn't have minded paying the price. I certainly wouldn't have a wedding at this place. If they cannot get a fish fry correct I would not trust them for a wedding. Will not bother to make that drive again. Will meet them at Panera first...they have better food.

We were thinking this was not going to be a very good experience. We were greatly delighted. It was great. We had reservations and were seated at a table overlooking the lakeside. Nice view of the wedding taking place in the gardens below us. Our waitress stopped by several times to take our orders, but we were busy catching up with each other. We finally got down to the business of ordering. Menu selection suited the four of us. One duck one rib eye one prime rid and my shrimp dish. Salads and my appetizers. We were not rushed. As is the rule at most restaurants these days, its get them in get them served and get them out. Make way to fill the table again. No, we had a very pleasant dining experience. As a matter of fact, we were at our table for 2 1\5 hours. Not rushed, eating great food. Service gets a ten out of ten. Food gets tens. Pricy yes. $220.00 including tip. Four of us. Will be going back.

For everyone that work so very hard on Mother's Day and spent it waiting on us and not with your own mothers THANK YOU! To the people that think that anyone has any control on the people in front of you for the table you will be seated at shame on you for blaming the seven seas! Did you want them to kick the people in front of you out? When you have a reservation it is to reserve a seat in the restaurant and hopefully the people in front of you will eat and leave promptly. If they decided not to leave on time then everyone waits.

Great location and a beautiful view from the patio. Scallop appetizer was recommended and it was delicious. Service was friendy but very slow, entree salad was dripping in oily dressing. Trout was overpriced. The interior needs a makeover, patio could use a cleaning also to remove the cobwebs.

Growing up in the lake country area I have always wanted to come here but knew it was expensive. Finally at 31 I ended up going for a birthday and am extremely disappointed. We were not welcomed at the door upon arrival but found a coat room to hang coats. We got seated and waited for over 10 minutes for a server to come over to us. We asked for a wine list in which she disappeared for another 5 minutes before getting our drinks. We had a tray of oysters, which were good. I ordered lobster tail and filet. The filet was overdone and not good at all. This is the first time I have not finished steak at a fine dining restaurant. The lobster was very tough but good. The waitress would grab our plates she stacked them directly behind us which lasted our entire meal. Where was a bus boy? Terrible service by the entire staff all night. It's sad to see a place of this stature and history so poorly run and managed. Someone needs to step in and restore this landmark ASAP!

Excellent dinner! Service was good We had a table from which we could watch the sunset over Lake Nagawicka. Portions were large and the brandy old fashioned sweets were delish! Food was tasty and well prepared. Interesting menu which features some creative entrees.

Underwhelming dining, overpriced, over rated, terrible service staff attitude. Go else where, where you are appreciated. This place is like having a cute girlfriend that everyone hates... Went here with a group of twenty for Valentine's Day... Terrible service, arrogant staff empowered in ignorance by old school owners who are lax at best... The owners only think they are running the show, but are glorified hosts at BEST... the staff rules the roost here and they are not very good. Severs acted troubled by every request. Several at the table ordered the prime rib, and after asking the server several time for horse radish, we then resorted to asking the water boys and bussers for it, who again deferred to getting us out waitress who scolded us for asking yet again. When it finally arrive we were brought a small ramekin that contained about 2 tbs. full. Several of asked for additional servings, only to be told we would never use it and just share. We used it and never got more... With their $$$$ prices, this is ridiculous. Additionally, out group, even having reservations for weeks, was broken up rather than being seated together.... Then based on how they arranged us, the servers complained that we were blocking the aisles, even though they set up the seating arrangement.

Went there today for Mother's Day brunch. Never again!! They don't know how to make reservations !! Had reservations for 12:30 and didn't get seated until almost 2:00. Way overbooked makes a lot of unhappy customers. When I got there at 12:30 the 11:30 people were still waiting.

This place can only live on the beautiful sunsets and outdoor patio for so long.... I keep going back, wanting it to be good, but it never is! We tried nearly everything on their tapas menu one Thursday night, and did not find anything we enjoyed! Their wine list needs to be updated, too. Although, if you're looking for an inexpensive evening, on Thursdays they have flights for $5 and apps for $6.

We went for dinner on Saturday night. Flags should have gone up when there was an abundance of reservations on open table and few cars in the parking lot when we arrived a little before 7:00. We were seated immediately and had to ask for a wine list and drink menu. Ordered an expensive french wine. When the waitress finally brought it a half hour later, she had trouble opening it as the cork started to disintegrate. My husband asked if there was a wine person that could help and waitress said no. My husband tried to open the bottle but had no luck. Waitress took bottle to bar area. Then proceeded to get a second bottle of wine and had the same problem. In the meantime we still had no wine and now our salads were served. We finally got the wine list back to select a different bottle. Waitress arrives at table with a decanter of wine and said they were able to get the first bottle open and strain it and decant it. It tasted fine, but had cork floating in the glasses and decanter. Told waitress we couldn't drink it and she took it back to bar area. Meantime, our food arrived and still no wine. Waitress finally asked if we wanted a glass of wine, which we ordered and didn't arrive until after we were eating our entrees and had been at the restaurant for over an hour. Then a while later she came back with another decanter of wine, must've been the second bottle. Wine was cloudy and tainted. Sent that back too. She did say our glasses of wine were free and offered us another glass on the house. Very disappointing. No one ever came to our table to apologize. The hostess and bar people were invisible. We used to frequent Golden Mast and Seven Seas when the original owners ran both places. They would never have allowed this type of service. Very sad that whoever in the family is running the restaurant doesn't seem to care about customer service. Salads were probably the best part of meal. Veal was good but spaetzle was poor. Duck was average. We will never go back or recommend Seven Seas.

We got married here in 2011. The lake view is wonderful and the grounds are very clean. The brunch we had was good but the fish fry is even better! We came on Halloween for fish fry and it was fun to see the restaurant all decked out and everyone dressed up in costumes.

Enjoyed the view and service. I ordered the short rib which was ok. Also had the shrimp del sol as an appetizer that was good. Close to 4 stars but would need to try a different menu item.

The Seven Seas offers German cuisine and a nice view of the lake. Unfortunately this whole experience falls flat. Let's breakdown the good and then the bad The Good: - The view from many tables has a great view of the lake. Which ideally would make good atmosphere for a nice dining experience. The Bad: - I am not entirely sure our waiter had the proper training. He didn't know the specials and didn't have a real opinion on cuisine. He seemed pretty green. This doesn't negatively impact my experience. We all had a first day/week/etc. The Ugly: - The Customer Service here is laughable. We dialogued with multiple staff and were typically met with abrupt unsmiling faces. If you are at the hostess stand and communicating with patrons your job is to pretend to be happy, be helpful, etc. Most here looked like they hated their job and the service reflected that. Not only our personal interactions but others as well. I listened in to gripes from tables around me. Specifically a larger group which was crunched at a smaller table not designed for their party number. They were not accommodated even though 90% of the restaurant hadn't yet been filled. Their waitress was lackluster and seemingly unsympathetic in my opinion. From hostesses, waitresses and everyone in between varying in age ranges I found employees lacking the professionalism that should come with working at a seemingly "nicer" establishment - The Food. This is about as mediocre as it gets. This is the first time in my life I had to season a french onion soup. Something was off about it and I couldn't put my finger on it. My party was in agreement that the culinary aspect wasn't anything to talk about here. Most items from appetizers to main entrees were bland. Typically I would be more forgiving here but at the price point of the dishes I expect a little more then subpar. Overall they get 1 star for the view. The staff needs to be trained in basic social interaction and also in restaurant specials. If you live out this way perhaps this seems like fine dining and maybe at one time it was years ago. The world has moved forward and there are a large number of great restaurants out there fueled by passionate chefs and upbeat and caring staff. If you are thinking about going here I would reconsider. There are better restaurants offering similar fare that will offer you a better product and better service. If you live in the area you may have to travel a little but trust me.... good food is worth driving for. I don't like writing negative reviews but this is in hopes that some changes are made. As of now you are just paying for a pretty view and we have plenty of those in this state.

We came here for Fish Friday AYCE and a large Birthday celebration. Reservations for 25 they put us in 3 tables that were close together. The view of Nagawicka lake is part of the attraction especially for the sunset. we all enjoyed the gentle cool breeze coming off the water and occasional speedboat buzzing by. Parking can be a long distance but this is welcome after a good meal. Don't forget the overflow parking across the street. Potato salad also got good reviews along with the tartar sauce the batter style fries. The kitchen had difficulties keeping up with the demand I went up 2 of 3 times they were out of both fries, chicken, and one time potato salad. the buffet line came to a crawl due to some of the missing items and was very noticeable when selections were limited. The selections for the fish fry also included baked chicken fried perch and fried cod and baked cod, baked beans, along with wheat bread. The kiddie cocktails were 2.50 each 12.oz. a bit pricey for kids. I wish they had happy hour for the children. Many of the servers and where kids off for the summer. It was a hot day most of the kids were busy doing their jobs and trying to stay cool.

Have been told for months and months, you got to try this fantastic restaurant ........ well we tried to get service and a meal on two separate occasions. The restaurants location is amazing, the view of the lake is first class. The first time to get a table waited 35 mins when we were told would be 15 mins. Silly me, I waited another 30 to 40 mins. Second time we went a different day and time, sat on the patio saw only one server for about 15 tables all full. Waited what, felt like an eternity, then went to the only waitress we saw and got my own menu, again believed the line " will be there in a few mins to get your drinks and order"', well after another 30 mins, we got up and on the way out I stopped by the main desk inside where I was informed them of their amazing service and was told with attitude " oh no sir, you must be mistaken, we have four servers on the patio tonight"!!!! My reply "really, they must have been quadruplets cause I only ever saw one that looked the same in all that a time" ......... Disgraceful!! So I gave this famous restaurant two tries, different days and different times, what a waste! The Seven Sea can dry up for all I care!!

Extremely slow service, brought us the wrong cut of meat, then the replacement steak was nearly raw. Didn't stay for dessert because the rest of the meal was so subpar. Beautiful views, though. A great place to go for dinner, as long as you don't plan to eat.

I was here for a wedding last weekend. I can only rate the venue and bar, no food. The venue was great for a wedding. The lake was so pretty. The biggest complaint is that even though they knew there was a 200 person wedding that afternoon, they had one person working at the bar. It took forever to get service. To top it off, the bartender said we were next 10 times. After that we decided to leave drinkless.

Where do I start? I got married here. Ceremony, reception, whole deal. I would give our wedding five stars because it came together despite some circumstances, and we ended up married at the end of it, which is what really matters. I give the lake and the view five stars because they're beautiful on their own. For our rehearsal the day before, which we scheduled with their coordinator, no one was there. If that is how they operate, I would have appreciated being informed. We wandered around looking for someone, but the building was locked and lights were off. So we just showed ourselves over to the Terrace and had to guess where everything would be staged the next day. We held our ceremony on the Terrace and our reception in the Captain's Room. We got married on a Sunday afternoon, and were told that because the restaurant closes at 2 on Sundays, we would have the grounds to ourselves. They forgot that they were having another special event that Sunday so we would not in fact have the grounds. What we would have was people on the patio eating and talking through our ceremony and stranger's children running through our wedding pictures. We also had a big ugly plastic "BRUNCH" banner up above the patio which was not there when we looked at the space. My husband asked it be taken down for the day and was refused rudely. He then threatened to cut it down and finally someone removed it. Up in the bridal room area where we got ready, there was a nail sticking out of the hallway wall which I did not see until it tore my bridal gown walking by after I had had the dress on for less than five minutes. For the actual ceremony, the microphone did not work. This was something they didn't bother to check beforehand or have batteries on hand to replace. We might have discovered this issue earlier had someone shown up for our rehearsal. Our pastor ended up ditching the mic and just shouting instead. The bar at the reception started charging people for drinks even though we were paying for an open bar. I found out because one of our groomsmen said he left his card at the bar to start a tab. My mother went to talk to them and take care of it, but at that point people had already paid for drinks and it was too much hassle to round them all up for reimbursements. The bar also was serving clearly underage patrons. I realize this is the responsibility of their parents, but some teenagers were taking advantage of the opportunity when no one was looking. I do not appreciate them serving teenagers alcohol at my wedding. We were told that each table at the reception would have eight chairs, but one only had seven because of a pillar in the way, leaving someone awkwardly standing while we tried to find someone for a chair. When we got one, it had to be stuck in the aisle to fit around the pillar. Again, something we should have been told beforehand. Otherwise, the food was good, the grounds were beautiful, there was plenty of parking, my friends and family were wonderful, and we got married. Our wedding was wonderful despite the Seven Seas, not thanks to.
