Pink Mocha Cafe

All of the food and drink is better than you'd ever expect from a small, strip mall cafe. Heidi (the owner) is somewhat locally famous for her quality cafes, and the entire staff is this great group of hometown young people and friendly faces. If you're working on a schedule, you may want to factor in that the food sometimes takes a bit longer because it's a smaller staff making fresh food, but what you get and the atmosphere in which you get it is generally well worth the time (and not much longer than it would take if you made it yourself or had it made by a spouse or loved). A perfect hidden gem with a modern-yet-cozy updated small-town feel, run by real human beings who just want to create a comfortable space. Try the cookies & cream frappe--it's the greatest. Warning: you may end up unable to enjoy a Starbucks Frappuccino as much as you did before.
The Pink Mocha Cafe was WONDERFUL! My husband and I stopped in for breakfast, and right away, everything looked adorable and there were tons of unique as well as classic menu options. The people who work there are super friendly, and once we got our food we knew we'd be coming back. The coffee was really good, the breakfast sandwich and spinach feta omelette were amazing, and even the toast was somehow special. It may be tucked away in sort of a random location, and we wouldn't have noticed it driving by, but everyone passing through Hartland needs to go to the Pink Mocha Cafe.
Nice find for a take out or eat-in breakfast. Quaint and right in the middle of town. Nice baked goods selection too.

Falbo Bros Pizzeria

I have been a chef for 30 plus years and all I can say is flavor, quality, and a reasonable price for really great tasting pizza, subs, salads, and appetizers. We dined in and were really happy with the service and friendly staff.
Comfort food doesn't get much more satisfying than wings and pizza, and Falbo Bros do it well. I can't recommend the sweet thai chili wings enough--truly mouth-watering and always cooked right. I've ordered take-out here about 5 times, and the quality has been impressively consistent. Well worth the ~15 minute drive from Oconomowoc. Other notable wing flavors: spicy garlic and teriyaki. Their pizza is your best bet within a ~25 mile radius--nothing particularly special about it, but decent enough that you'll be ordering again and again.
I've ordered pizza from here twice now and both times I have been impressed. I'm fairly particular about my pizza joints and consider pizza as my favorite, go-to comfort food. My kids first had their pizza at a friend's house and insisted we try it. I would have to agree with them that the pizza is very good. My kids prefer the thick crust (I'm more of a think crust guy), so both times we have gotten the thick crust. Very impressed with the crust as it seems with most thick crust pizza you end up with a doughy, inedible piece of crust after eating a slice. But I polished off the crust every time and enjoyed it. The toppings are plentiful (fresh mushrooms, not canned!!) and I find their prices to be very reasonable. Definitely recommend for pizza in the Hartland area.

What a discovery for Chicagoans in Harland, WI!! Our first experience at Zesti was awesome!! From the modern rustic decor to the eclectic European inspired menu to my incredibly moist salmon encrusted with ricotta and herbs, everything was delightful. All of our choices were befitting of the name...Zesti!!
We have been here 5 times (lunch and dinner). It has great food and a decor. Reminds me of some of the places we visit in Brooklyn NY which has terrific new restaurants. It was fun to have the big windows opened on a warm night. It can be loud sometimes and gets very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights.
Husband and I went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place was packed; which to us was a good sign that the food would be excellent. It was. The presentation was gorgeus; the portions large; and the taste was out of this world. The menu holds so many different food choices to choose from, it was hard to decide which one to try first. Our server's name was Drew and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the very best of service. HIGHLY recommend for the food, service, and fun atmosphere!

Wound up here after a rehearsal at Hartland Music on a Thursday night. The food was really good - I got the steak sandwich, hubs got the pulled pork, and daughter had a dozen hot wings. We were all really pleased with the quality of everything. My steak was a little fatty, but they use a ribeye so that's only to be expected with that cut. The french fries and tater tots were blazing hot and crisp, obviously fresh out of the fryer. Service was excellent, and the ambiance pleasant for a sports bar/pub type of place. I wish we lived closer - I would definitely become a regular!
Great pizza, good fish fry, awesome burgers, chicken strips are super. We come here quite a bit, service is good.
Great place to grab a quick meal with the kids. The decor & tvs entertain them why you have a beer waiting for your meal. Nice menu vairety and food has always been good, along with service.

Reviews:
We went here based on Yelp pics & reviews alone for a Friday night. I should've paid more attention to the negative reviews than the positive ones. It's always harder in smaller towns to weigh the high star ratings as there are always such fewer reviews. We walk in and the hostess was playing with her "phone" and looked blankly at us, we then had to ask her for a seat. All of the tables were empty inside. She sat us on the patio as we requested which had a decent crowd, but definitely wasn't full. The other customers were very friendly and many seemed to know each other which was nice. The patio is by far the nicest feature at this restaurant with a great view of the river. Unfortunately we waited over 20min as several waitresses walked by with no drinks offered to us (not even water). Finally my wife went in to ask for service, I almost said we should just leave, as I have done in similar situations. A waitress came out, said she was sorry, and took our drink order for 2 margaritas and two waters. Only brought back margaritas with chips and salsa, NO WATER. We put our order in as soon as she came back with drinks as we feared it may take a while. As she walked away we realized no napkins were ever given to us. A couple who sat after us already had their food when we just got our drinks, while some other couples like us had other waitresses walking by saying "I'm not sure who has you covered". Who says that out loud, and why are you not figuring that out? As we were finishing our ok margaritas and had finished eating some pretty good salsa, the waitress comes out to tell us "the kitchen is backed up, just so you know". She doesn't even say sorry about THEIR issue. Doesn't offer any refills or more chips & salsa. My wife again asks for waters and she finally brings them to us. It's a Friday, you have an empty restaurant with a few people at the bar and a patio that is 3/4 full on a beautiful spring evening, how are you understaffed in both waitresses and in the kitchen? To be honest the amount of waitresses and tables, I don't see how they didn't keep everyone covered, but maybe they had them doing kitchen work to keep up. I get it, people call in, but their attitude was far from apologetic if that was the case. Maybe pull the hostess who is just standing up front on her cell phone and have her help cover with drinks? The bar tender could have easily covered the hostess' job of greeting the few folks walking in. After an hour our food finally came. We were left without silverware and napkins again, so my wife had to finally steal them from another empty table since we didn't know when our waitress would be back. My fish tacos were pretty sub par and my wife's fajitas were worse. Waitress was never back around to ask how things were and my wife had to drink my water since no one came asking how we were on drinks. Having finished our meal she came to ask how the food was, kinda late. I take all leftovers home in hopes of using them in some way, even french fries. This is one of the only times I've said, "it's not worth it". I know and have appreciated small town restaurants that have things that run slow. I still go back to those places if the food is worth it. This wait was beyond slow, and the food we had was nowhere near worth coming back for. It is such a bummer living on a budget going to a place to eat out only to have that be the worst meal you had all week, when you finally go to eat out. Having to wait longer usually we find our taste-buds more accepting of food, so it must have just been that bad. The thing that really ticked me off is we were informed their kitchen was backed up with no apology of any kind, not even after the fact when the bill was brought. It really bums me out having to write a review like this, but I don't want others to make the same mistake.
The place is sort of a Mexican and American joint, and when we went it was (surprisingly) not too crowded, and we were seated immediately, even though we were at least 15-20 minutes early for our reservation. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and had some great recommendations for us. We each had the Caribbean coconut fish fry, which was 6 big pieces of cod breaded in a sort of coconut breading (think coconut shrimp). The breading was not greasy, and was done perfectly. It had a mild, sweet taste to it and, to be honest, actually tasted better just by itself than with their tartar sauce or fish taco sauce (also fantastic!) I've been to many fish fries, and at least as far as fried cod goes, I have never had better than at JC Bogar's. They also have good, chunky guacamole and homemade chips, and they have fish tacos (another big favorite of ours) on the nightly menu; we're gong to come back to try the fish tacos next week. We both left completely stuffed, and with the better part of half a full order for leftovers. The price was more than affordable. In fact, even with tip (generous and well-earned by the great waitress, I should add), I actually spent a few bucks less here than at many of our normal fish fry destinations. Overall - This place is outstanding for a Friday evening (and surely any evening), and we already cannot wait to come back. ***UPDATE: Finally tried the fish tacos, and they definitely lived up to my lofty expectations! The fish were fresh and hot with a great crispy breading, and the diced vegetables were very fresh. Best of all, the tacos come with this fantastic creamy, spicy sauce that you drizzle on top. I find that the coolness of the fresh vegetables worked perfectly with the tasty heat from the sauce. These are some of the best fish tacos I've ever had, and I've tried quite a few.
I took my children for dinner last night. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it! The view and sounds from the patio are very relaxing with the running water from the nearby brook/river. Our server was friendly and checked on the kids often. Although unnecessary, she brought out 2 more sodas for them for when they ran out. The salsa is fresh and spicy! My six year old is not a "chips" fan, but he couldn't keep his fingers out of the basket! The portions were big. I recommend the fish tacos! Nice crunch inside a flour tortilla! My oldest had the fish and chips and enjoyed them very much! I would have liked a vegetable option instead of the chips or fries for a healthier dinner (especially for the kids' meals. .. $5.95 is a bit high for a mini burger and fries, but it looked delicious and the fries were seasoned). I deducted one star because I felt the drinks were on the weak side both times I've visited. Keep the quality of the food fresh and service attentive and we will be visiting this place more often! We wish them much success!

Asian Kitchen

This is my go-to spot when I want to pick up something for dinner after work. They have the BEST sesame chicken. In fact, it's so good that it's the only thing I ever order. But I've been known to sample a few bites from friends and family who order other things, and it's always been good. True, it's not really a place you'd go to eat in. It's tiny, and the decor leaves something to be desired. But if you're looking for take-out, then this is IT. They give you huge portions - I usually eat until I'm stuffed the first night, and then take leftovers with me to work for lunch for the next two days. They have never gotten my order wrong, and it's always ready within a few minutes of the time they anticipate. Oh man, just writing this review is making me crave sesame chicken. I think I know what I want for dinner. ;)
Working out in Lake Country, there are not a lot of options for lunchtime takeout. The lunch specials here are reasonably priced. For less than the cost of fast food, I can walk away with an entree, fried rice and a soda. This is a carryout kind of place, so I would not recommend eating in. Food is typical, but not memorable. When I was in the last time, I saw the kitchen microwaving the fried rice, before adding the entree. Basically, it's what I expect for my $6,00. The staff is friendly and the restaurant clean. If you need a quick bite in the area, go for it. If your're looking for great Chinese food, look elsewhere.
This is a great take out place for what it is. It is certainly not gourmet chinese but it is great americanized take out. The cashier is very courteous, the restaurant is clean and the service is quick. I used to live across the street and really miss it now that I don't.

King’s Wok

The best Chinese food in lake country! Try anything with garlic sauce.
This is really decent Chinese and I'm glad it's in the town I live in! I have been to many different Asian restaurants and the quality can be all over the board. King's Wok is always reliable and pretty fast too. The Good: All of your standard Americanized Chinese fare is here. You have the choice of egg rolls, and spring rolls, and some of the better crab rangoons I have had. The soups are good, and the General Tso's is packed into the container. I frequently get an order of General Tso's and an order of Crab Rangoons and it feeds my wife and I to the stuffed stage. The Bad: It's not the best food you can ingest. :) Well you CAN order the steamed broccoli and have the chicken cooked in water... but really, why are you even getting it from here? Indulge a little... get that crispy springroll that crunches between your teeth and leaves just a trace of delicious grease on your lips. The Ugly: It's not really expensive... and then it is. You can go from $14 to $30 in the blink of an eye. Still not bad for take out, but when you find yourself dropping $60 for a family of 4, you may want to rethink your choices... the servings are HUGE! In short, come here, eat here, and enjoy some really good food.
I love their crab rangoon. It's always hot and fresh. It's also the best priced rangoon I've had. I have tried so many things from King's Wok. I love them all. Especially the specials with the egg roll and the fried rice. Great prices on those. Actually their prices all around are pretty inexpensive. You can't go wrong with whatever you may choose. However, if you get anything with chow mein noodles, be aware that they are not your typical thin ones you get at the store. These are thick and possibly homemade. I actually don't order anything that comes with them because of this. I like my thin crispy ones.

I really love this place. Great staff, great steak and great atmosphere! I wish there was better parking.
I went to Palmer's Steakhouse with my family to celebrate my parents birthday & anniversary. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. The server greeted us & got our beverages right away. They have a great menu with a wide variety of steaks (and other things like lamb, ribs, seafood, etc). Some of the things on the menu came with salad (or soup but I'm not 100% sure). I got a salad but my only complaint was that there was too much dressing on the salad so I would recommend getting the dressing on the side. They also give you bread - and it was warm which was a bonus! I ordered the ribs and they were fantastic - the meat fell off the bone and very tender...just how I like it. My husband had the lamb chops and said that they were very good. My dad had a steak (although I can't remember what cut) but said it was delicious. I would definitely go back and try something else on the menu because all the food was so yummy!
A good steak house if you are looking for the same menu, day in and day out. Nothing unique but everything is always good. We go about once a month. For the price I think the steaks are as good as any other in the area. A great place to take Grandma and Grandpa!

I was introduced to the Hartland Inn by hubs & his family a few years back. And it's so good that every time we come back to Hartland to visit family we inevitably spend a good time & a long time at the Hartland Inn for a delicious dinner. The ambiance is upscale Wisconsin supper club - a myriad of comfy red booths by the bar, a plethora of tables in the main dining area and a screened in porch. Staff wise - you don't get any nicer. Margaret, the owner, is incredibly sweet and makes a mean martini. But what you're probably all wondering about is the food....here are a few things I've tasted over the years... Apps at the bar: 5/5: I have to mention both the homemade honey mustard dip & pretzels and the cheese ball & crackers. Both highly, highly addicting. Nom. Tournedos: 4/5: Delicious beef medallions served with your choice of veg & potato. Cooked to perfection and delectable. Peanut Butter Pie: 5/5: Just as you would expect - homemade peanut butter ice cream morphed into a giant slice of pie. Heaven. Schaum Torte: 3/5: Many of my family members really like this sugary, strawberry concoction (whipped egg whites - a la meringue), but I found it a bit sweet. Regardless, it's made exceptionally well. If you ever find yourself in Hartland, give this place a try!
Probably my favorite restaurant in the Lake Country area. Been coming here since I was a kid. The place has a true supper club vibe and serves great Swiss specialties like Fondue and Swiss salad. I always try to grab a table in the bar area. Not as quiet and the amount of people that come and go that know each other is evident in the conversations. Fish is always a great choice and my preference is the light Fish Dore (sp?). I sometimes can't pass up the new york strip, which is always served perfectly with a side of rushtie potatoes and steamed veggies. Great Fish Fry on Friday's as well as Prime Rib on Saturday's. But for a real treat my mom and I always love going on Thursday's when I'm in town for the beef tournedos! Make sure to leave room for the peanut butter ice cream pie that is hand made. All and all a great old school supper club that has modernized the menu, while keeping some old world classics and charm, such as cheese and crackers at the bar!
I have lived in Hartland for 11 years and this is the first time I have eaten here... I wish I would have come here sooner! We went for the fish fry, and I have to say, I want to go back and try some of their other dishes! The fish fry is $11 with fries and $1 more for potato pancakes. and is all you can eat (baked or fried) (Remember kids, all you CAN eat is not all you SHOULD eat) It is served family style at the table with light and dark rye, potato salad and a vinegar based coleslaw which is really good. I ordered a cup of the New England style Clam chowder ($3) and was stunned. This is some of the best clam chowder I have had since I left the East Coast! Large chunks of tender sweet clams with carrots and potatoes in a rich base. My wife asked me if it was lobster, she had never had clams so sweet and tender. Here's the breakdown. The Good Nice large pieces of cod which are batter fried. Batter is not too thick or thin and compliments the fish. The potato salad is ok, and the slaw is quite good, the vinegar cuts the oil from the fried fish. The tarter sauce is interesting, a little on the sweet side, but again, goes really well with the fish. The potato pancakes were ok, stuffed with some vegetable in the middle, they were not my favorite (my wife got the pancakes and I got the fries and we split them.) The fries... Ok the fries were perfect. I'll go back for the fries. Thick-cut, crisp on the outside and creamy in the center. They know how to cook their fries!! Waitstaff was very nice and the service was timely. The Bad The interior could use an update... Badly. You walk into the bar and you would swear that if you saw one of the cast of Madmen drinking there it would be normal. Forget Old World Wisconsin, this is Old School Milwaukee. There was an older crowd in the bar area, and it has a 1950's supper club feel. It's clean, just older. The dining room in the back is a little larger and there were some younger patrons and some children here too. Still oldschool, but comfortable. Another "bad" would be that while we did not order more... we each had the 3 pieces of fish we were served with the initial order and were so stuffed we could not try the Crème brûlée... Yes... First World Problem tag here. The Ugly Not a whole lot to hate on here. Like I mentioned above the decore might scare some, but the food is worth it. Have a brandy old fashioned and settle back. In Short This is one of the hidden gems of the Lake Country area and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't give it a try!
