Ok. It has been a loooooong time since I have been to an Olive Garden. No real reason for it other than I am not a fan of waiting like cattle to get a seat. This time, we waited for only 3 minutes or so, (less than 10!) and was directed to our table by the very friendly hostess who promptly informed us that our server was very busy and that she would be glad to take our drink orders right away and get them so we didn't have to have wait long. Allright!! Now that is customer service! She did as promised and our waiter came up to us as our drinks arrived. He was absolutely fantastic. Very friendly, and knowledgeable about the food. (Sorry I forget his name, but he was EXCELENT!) As it had been a long while since I had been there, the menu was new and fresh. Lots of great choices and separate menus for the specials. I went with the 5 cheese ziti as my wife went for a new chicken dish and my daughter got the chicken parmesan. Of course the salad and breadsticks (YUM) arrived soon after our order was taken and we dived in. When the food arrived it was great. They really do have some great dishes. Maybe not the most original or creative, but sufficient to suit this mans pallet. Overall I was happy to have gone, and not veered off to the other side of the street and gone to Caraba's instead as we usually do. Good change of pace. Only knock is the waiting you seem to have to do. I swear, the place could be completely empty and they would make you wait a few minutes. Must be a corporate policy or something. Now I rarely see this place anywhere near empty, but I doubt seriously that they are always so full that it is mandatory to have to wait a while. I likely will not wait so long before my next visit, and will be sure to spread the compliments if asked about it. Now go and wait in line to eat!!!!

It's Olive Garden. It's a major chain restaurant that attempts to claim some semblance to Italian cuisine. As an Italian, I cannot recommend Olive Garden to anyone who wants to have a real Italian dining experience. However, if you're feeling cheap and want a filling lunch: run, do not walk, to their soup, salad and breadstick deal. In my opinion that's really all I'd ever take from this place unless I had to go there as a courtesy or for a work function. The different soups they have are pretty delicious (I recommend either the chicken gnocchi or the minnestrone) and everyone knows just how amazing those garlicky breadsticks are. Beyond that, I would so strongly encourage you to NOT believe that this is real Italian. There are so many wonderful independently owned and operated businesses in the city where REAL Italians are running the show. Go there for the real deal. Only do Olive Garden for lunch in a pinch.

soup, salad and breadsticks for lunch with coworkers. the waitress was incredibly inefficient, but my expectations aren't very high.

Our waitress was amazingly sweet!( I forgot her name unfortunately. ) but the food was mediocre. The soup was delicious and filling. However, my boyfriend got the lasagna and was disappointed. It's hard to mess up q lasagna, and yet I've tasted better microwave lasagna. The food is overpriced for the amount and quality you get. A slice of cake is about 7 $!! All in all, the service was great but food was meh.

Its the OG - what can you say. Decent food and decent service. Do you ever get more than that at a chain? The get very busy, so use the new call ahead feature to be put on the wait list.

Stopped in for Lunch, was aware of and okay with a small 10-15 minute wait. I checked in gave my name (just me in party) and got the beeper thingy and waited....and waited....and waited...I went up and asked host (there were several working on this date Tuesday (9/16)) people being seated all around me and was told I'd be next. I'd seen four other parties larger than mine (obviously) sat before me who'd arrived after me, shortly after my conversation with host. I'm not one to complain, It just turned me off. The disregard I received was terrible. Not to mention this was my lunch hour... wasted. I may or may not return again, there are several other restaurants close by. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I ran out of time, returned my beeper thingy as I was never seated and returned to work minus having lunch.

Another mainland attraction my husband and I were excited to check out on our vacation... such a let down. The food tasted like it was frozen 35 minutes ago, the breadsticks taste like they were baked from a box and caked in garlic salt... I no longer am irritated with Olive Garden commercials in Hawaii anymore (there isn't even one on the island.) I am grateful it's not taking up precious space here. Our waitress was really robotic and another guy came over to package up our food. He was SUPER nice but our waitress walked right by him and didn't even thank him. Yikes. GREAT co-worker ambiance chicka. Thanks a lot of Olive Garden. You ruined my dreams. :(

I had a two gift cards that I received as a present. They said one of them was no good so I had to pay for the rest of the dinner myself. If they're not going to honor their own gift cards I can spend my money somewhere else.

I like Olive Garden's food in general, but I fondly hope that preparation and baking of the yummy garlic breadsticks becomes more consistent in the future. Those with high class palates who look down their noses at Olive Garden may enjoy Carrabba's across the street.

I am giving this place a 3 star review. There customer service is great but they seem to get lost in the flock of customers. The Alfredo Chicken had a lot of taste but the noodles were under cooked. As for the dessert, please don't advertise the Dolcini with a tiny spoon making it seem like its bigger than it is.

Been here many times before. My daughter loves the place. It's moderately priced "Italian-style" food that i would put above Buca's. Personally I kinda like the food, the menu hardly ever changes but it's comfort food i guess; not the best but not the worst. We all know what we are getting here, there's usually no surprises. Just went here today, we found a close parking spot right away, that was a first. We got seated in 5 minutes, that was pretty quick too. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and pretty. Everything was going great, we ordered drinks and entrees and got complimentary wine. Then she dropped off the drinks, and then the soup for my daughter and then the salad & breadsticks. Breadsticks were hot & great as usual. My daughter really liked her soup. I grabbed a big portion of their famous and delicious salad with the huge tongs. Then I was about to dig in when I noticed that we had NO silverware/napkins. So I sat there for 5 minutes hoping she would be around. But i didn't see her and the minutes kept passing. I was very pissed & hungry at this point so I dug in with my fingers. I saw several Olive Garden staff working around us and nobody offered silverware/napkins; I guess it's normal for them to have guests eat with their fingers. After about 15 minutes I ate 3/4 of the huge salad with my fingers. Then she stopped by with our entrees. She was aghast that we didn't have silverware. So she brought us some utensils and I was able to eat like a civilized human once again. The food was pretty good like usual, no complaints there except my chicken parmigiana was a tad overdone but I still enjoyed it. My daughter liked her dish too. All in all, I have to go One Star because of the Silverware mis-hap. It's not my job to point out their utter incompetence. I gave a tiny tip. Food was good tho. Next time we may try Carrabas or Bravo.

I've recently been to the Olive Garden, and I must say nothing has really changed. It's been almost a decade since my last visit. I had the Shrimp Alfredo. I love shrimp, but that's not why I'm on here. I tried one of there newest creations the Italian Caramel soda. Now, I was skeptical at first only because of the thought of drinking caramel. I know I like caramel, but in a drink...so I got one, and I must say it was delizioso. I liked it so much that I have made caramel milk one of the treats I indulge in when I want to give my taste buds a little bit of bliss!

I've been here several times and from my past and present experience was great. The staff was friendly, very attentive to their customers and service was very good. Our server was very polite and very friendly. The food was delicious, fresh garden salad with Italian dressing. The breadsticks warm and seasoned. Our food definately came out piping hot. The dining room on the other hand wasn't quite clean. I'd give it a 5 star if they cleaned it up a bit. There was straw wrappers on the floor and no one picked it up as there was a lot of traffic between employees, wait staff and the buss ers. Anyway, looking beyond that I've had a pretty pleasant experience everytime I've visited this location. Great deals as well usually at Olive Garden. Check it out!

Olive Garden is a place that my husband and I frequent regularly. This particular location is close to our house, so it's very convenient. We have always had a good experience here. The staff is pleasant. In fact, there are 3 servers that we request on a regular basis when we come here. Olive Garden has a very nice wine selection to choose from. If there is a particular wine that you would like to sample before buying, the server will pour you a small amount to to try. They also have a full bar if wine isn't your thing. The food is very good. One thing that they are known for is their breadsticks. Sometimes it's tough not to fill up on them before your meal arrives. With most of the meal options, you have your choice of either soup or salad. I, myself, am a soup person, so I always go with the soup. I highly recommend the chicken gnocchi soup. It is so good! At my last visit, I had the lasagna classico, which was very tasty. I also recommend the cheese ravioli and the Tour of Italy. My husband loves the Chicken Parmigana. And if you have room left for desert, they have several good options to choose from. Make sure to check out the specials/promotions that are currently running. Olive Garden offers really nice deals from time to time.

Okay, so we all know what Olive Garden's food is like, right? I mean, I hadn't been to one since I was a teenager before coming here last week because personal experience (and general consensus) suggested they had a miraculous talent of combining bland, undersalted pasta with smack-you-in-the-face salty sauces. I got drug here by a member of my poly-family (don't ask) who apparently has a thing for Olive Garden. I don't know why, she just does. I was coming off a bad migrane and wanted to get some food in me, and the options were go out with the family to Olive Garden or find something in our empty refrigerator. I can't say as much has changed in the flavor department since I was last at an olive garden, but I do want to give a major shout-out to our server, Christian. The guy was friendly and hilarious. I've said before that I appreciate when a server can dish out a friendly give-and-take with customers, and this guy is a master of his craft. Most likely, not everybody would appreciate the way he plays with customers (and those people would be the "grumpy old bastard" demographic), but his banter and quickness on his feet definitely distract from the notion that I'm eating at an Olive Garden. Christian, you and your endless supply of salad and cheese did not go unappreciated.

My wife and I are walking contradictions. Chain Italian food for lunch and farm-to-fork James Beard nominated for dinner. I honestly eat at chains once in a while to see what the fuss is all about. THIS OLIVE GARDEN IS LOCATED not far from the South side mall. The parking lot is a cluster fust. I dropped off my wife (whose idea it was because she "loves the breadsticks".) at the door and had to circle the parking lot twice before finding a spot. I find a spot and walk past crumbling exterior and meet her in the lobby. She states there's a 30 minute wait. I think to myself "these Southsiders are fuxing crazy". We went to the bar were there was no wait. Our bartender/waitress, we'll call her only "waitress" from here on out because I don't drink during daylight hours. ORDERED: $4 Grilled Chicken Spiedini, $4 Parmesan Olive Fritta, $9.99 Lasagna Classico. Our waitress had her hands full with us as the food arrives in waves. First breadsticks, then salad, then spiedini, then olives, then two entrees, then boxes for the entrees. We must have used twenty plates. TASTED: The grilled chicken skewers were pretty good, diced tomatoes with a sweet honey red wine sauce. Two skewers for $4. The olive fritta was not good at all. Diced black olives with a gross state fair tasting yellow cheese deep fried. Very very salty. They arrived with a gorgonzola cheese dipping sauce - very mild gorg and didn't stand a chance against the powerful bitter salty olives. This dish fails. THE BREADSTICKS: I don't understand the fascination with these - greasy salty white flour. I guess feeling full and doing it cheap is the American way. SALAD: Again, baffled on this one. Here's a gigantic bowl of iceberg lettuce with a few black olives, red onions and two tomato slices for color. You're having a salad you healthy animal now drench that nutritionally void bowl with some fat laden salad dressing. THE LASAGNA: The most bland and tasteless lasagna I've ever had. I'm not comparing to "real" restaurants - more like Fazoli's and Maggiano's Little Italy. Maggiano's lasagna is entirely better than this Olive Garden offering. EXPERIENCE: $50 and a lunch that took over an hour. I felt thirsty for the rest of the day. Day after day these chain restaurants pack in the people - so much people are wiling to wait for the experience. It's baffling.

My husband and I always enjoy coming to this Olive Garden. The food is always amazing and the staff is friendly. We've never had to wait for more than 10 minutes when it was busy. This is a great place for date night!

I travel a lot and Olive Garden is one of my safety nets where I know I can get my comfort food. This location was not one of my favorites. There was often long waits to get a table and it was a busy place to try and park. The staff weren't rude per se, but often in a hurry. If I had my choice, I would go to one of the other locations.

Listen. I get it. You are reading this thinking "That girl went to Olive Garden?" and you are judging me. You know what? Judge away. Know what else? Sometimes I listen to Barry Manilow and Josh Groban. Sometimes I watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond. Sometimes I make Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for dinner. Sometimes I.....sometimes. Let's just stop there and leave it at that. Look, I love the variety of authentic, locally owned, truly unique restaurants this town has to offer. I promise you, I do. But sometimes I want the familiarity that only a mediocre chain can offer. Sometimes, after all, being fabulous feels like too much work. It is these days that I know I can reliably turn to Olive Garden. My friend Matt and I have been frequenting the Southridge location of this chain on a monthly basis for over a year now - it's officially "our thing." We love the breadsticks. We love the salad, even though each visit we have to bribe the wait staff to covertly break the rules and give us extra vegetables. (Two olives per salad? Are you kidding me?) We love our favorite waiter, Maurice, who has been known to make me laugh so hard I cried on more than one occasion. But mostly, we love not having to spend our energy thinking about where to meet so we can just meet and be us. It's plainly, unremarkably, perfectly right.

This is a chain,so the food is always the same. What set this location apart through is the service. The servers actually take their time with the tables,no matter how busy they are. At my last visit,it actually felt like the server was a friend who came to eat with us. The food is what it is - reasonably priced and tasty. But that service though!

Writing a bad review for Olive Garden is like shooting fish in a barrel. I blame myself, honestly, because I agreed to go here after a many years long absence. I expected bad...yet, somehow it was so much worse. First off, they make you wait on principle - there could be 100 empty tables and they'll still hand you a pager and tell you "20 minutes". Don't make the mistake of perusing the nutritional stats while you're waiting - it appears that "sodium" is the main ingredient in everything here. (I was thirsty all night after my "meal") Our service sucked, with long, long waits for everything - drinks, etc. Hey Amber (that was her name) - more drinks = larger bill = larger tip. It's not even cheap anymore with most dishes over $15 - what a rip! On the plus side, we did enjoy the people watching, the jorts worn in December and what appeared to be The Worst Date Ever where the couple literally did not speak to each other the whole time. I can't hate on the breadsticks though, that shit is delicious.

Truly awful. It used to be "not great, but acceptable." Now, it's so bad, they would need a James Beard award-winning chef just to make "OK." Let's just say it's been a loooong time since I've been to an OG. I just don't really remember it being bad. What happened? Have they slipped that far, or do I no longer find $17 dollar "Italian" entrees heated in a microwave bag acceptable? Cause, that's what it is folks. If you think that the "chefs" are back there actually cooking, you're very mistaken my friends. Now, I wasn't expecting anything great. I know that this is food for the masses. Sometimes chain restaurants can be a guilty pleasure, but any restaurant that fills you up on all the unlimited salad and bread sticks you can stuff down your pie-hole has ulterior motives. "Fill them up on this crap, and they won't be able to eat their entrees. Then they won't realize how crappy the food is." The service we had was the worst I can remember. There were plenty of open tables, yet we told there would be the obligatory 30-40 minute wait, or in restaurant speak, "two overpriced watered-down drinks at the bar." This was actually the best part of our dinner. We should have quit while we were ahead. Other than the fact that it took 20 minutes to bring out our appetizers (clearly they were "cooked" promptly and then parked under a heat lamp or 15 minutes), the entrees sucked, our waitress seemed perturbed by our incessant drink requests, and no one seemed to be able to clear the empty wine and drink glasses from our table, we had a fine time. There was some spectacular people watching. We enjoyed trying to determine who around us was having the worst Match.com date. Oh yeah, that place is in serious need of a remodel. My sis: "This place hasn't changed, it's just as I remembered it!" Me: "This place is TIRED!! what a dump, It's just like 1992 all over again!" Two ways of saying the same thing. Ugh, it's going to take a lot to get me to go back anytime in the next 10 years.

I.asked my daughter where she wanted to eat on her birthday she chose Olive garden! It was a Monday evening and the place wasnt busy but to my surprise we still waited 20 mins for our drinks and our appetizer came with the drinks then.she disappeared again and ten mins later our meals came out! Thr food runner brought them out! So I say to the boy is that our food he was like yes and I said well we never got our soup or salad! He was like really! Then he was going to take the food back to the kitchen and I said just leave it! Then started makeing excuses for the server! I Said I have been server for 15 years and this is unacceptable! After that she was very attentive! So great food but disappointed with the service!

The service at this location was terrible. It started at the bar where we decided to wait for our table with a beverage. There was no bartender for a couple minutes. When she arrived she was not pleasant and said she would get to us when she had time. The waitress at our table was also not pleasant. She never came around for refills either. The carpets were very dirty and the overall atmosphere was just not very welcoming. Our food was good as it usually is. I like Olive Garden I just will be choosing another location from now on.

Okay, I am dragged to Olive Garden semi-annually by my other half who LOVES the place. I'd rather drive a spike through my skull than dine at Olive Garden. But we all make sacrifices for those we care about, however lame their taste may be. I always hope that my next pilgrimage to this Faux-talian embarrassment to Tuscan fare will be better than the last. I'm always deeply disappointed. This time was no exception. Tonight one of us ordered the smoked chicken penne dish, while the other ordered the shrimp and penne creation. The base in both dishes was some boxed pasta, no better than Creamette brand. Add to it some overly salty chicken or miniature canned shrimp. Pour on some cheesy mix from the "Kraft Foods Test Kitchen". Microwave for 60 seconds, and Voila! You've got Olive Garden. These dishes were part of the $12.95 deal that comes with your choice of: "Endless Salad" (Iceberg lettuce, Wishbone Italian Dressing, 8 croutons, 1 pepperoncini pepper, 1 tomato, 2 rings of onion) The flavor is so ordinary, you'll wish it would end. Waiter: "Would you like a refill on your salad?" Me: "Ummm, no thanks. I'd rather give my tastebuds a chance at survival." "Famous Soups" Famous, for what? Most boring flavor ever? Easiest to pour from a can? And: Breadsticks. Think Pillsbury, wrapped in a paper napkin, and served in a PLASTIC BASKET. Seriously? Plastic. Basket. The dinner also came with a "mini dessert". This is the part that NAFFED me off the most!!! They list dark chocolate cake, tirimisu, and and few others. I would expect the mini dessert to be a "miniature" version of the original. Maybe a half slice or at least a sliver of cake on a plate with something drizzled over it. No! It's a stinkin' shot glass filled with some puss-like pudding crap! How does "dark chocolate cake" translate to "shot of phlegm?" The waiter explains, "they are a completely different taste than the REAL desserts on our menu." Oh, well, your little narrative made it SO much more appetizing. Dinner with 20% tip came to $36, only because I had water and my dining companion had a cherry coke. Nothing pisses me off more than paying $36 for something I could whip up in my kitchen from iceberg lettuce mix from a bag, Wishbone dressing, some boxed pasta from Aldi, some bagged Kraft shredded cheese, some version of Ragu sauce in a can, and some Hormel "Selects" lunch meat pieces in a box. Service was superb, and if I were rating the service it would be five stars. But I am NOT giving this puke pit any more than two stars--not even one extra! I'll be honest, the only reason I OVERPAY for this PUTRID food is to get laid. (But, albeit a little passive-aggressive, my breath is laced with that nasty Olive Garden garlic-y generic food taste--AND I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.)

I have to admit, I am not a big Italian fan and never would eat it before but I tried the Grilled Shrimp Caprese and was sold. I really like their soup, salad and bread stick lunch and the Stead Gorgonzola too. I find the portions to be generous and I always end up taking some home for a second meal. The only complaint I have is no matter when you go, they make you wait for a table. They open at 11 and if you are there when they open the doors, they take your name and make you wait for a table. I find this ridiculous! Other than that, really no complaints about it and really like the food.

I did not think I would cross the threshold of an Olive Garden past the last day of living at home. My family chose it for its convenience and "casual elegance." I would consider that an oxymoron. Much like Olive Garden itself. Real Italian? Hmm. Not so much. But, my desire for what was shown on a commercial got the best of me, and I found myself walking through its doors once again. A lunch with my mom and sister may have contributed to the choice, but everything about "endless" soup, salad, and breadsticks was so right that day. The server was quick and sweet, a young girl likely in her early years at college. She brought out the salad and breadsticks after the delivery of beverages. The salad was a little sad, with its close resemblance to a bagged iceberg mix, a few olives and pepperoncini, and rock-hard croutons. It had lost any hope of having even the slightest fresh flavor upon receiving a heavy dose of the signature olive oil dressing. The breadsticks, however, were just as I remembered: salty and thin, crunchy exterior with a soft, buttery interior. Num. Dipped in the soups, I had forgotten all about the limp greens. There were 4 soup options, and we tested all but the minestrone. We each ordered 2 bowl of soup in total, and they all appeared without the billowing steam one wants with such a meal. The soups were slightly hotter than lukewarm. Although, the soups were not complete failures, as their flavors were robust enough that one could identify them: spicy sausage, spinach, fennel, potato. These ingredients were not bland, but the chicken...now, that is another story. Imagine what the chicken from a can looks and tastes like. Yes. That was the appearance and consistency in the soup accompanied by gnocchi. Luckily, again, the starch allowed me to forget any unhappiness with the dish. It is amazing what carbs can do. But, in the end, one expects all of the aforementioned at Olive Garden, so I am the only one to blame. Perhaps. Another decade plus will likely pass before the words, "Let's go to Olive Garden," cross my lips again.

I enjoy soup salad and bredsticks. That is usually what I eat when I hit OG. As for the posta, I can't explain it but it disagree's with me if you know what I mean. I usually find myself on the pot 30 minutes after eating. So I'll continue my Soup there, but nothing else.

This is an awfully run Olive Garden. Why must you wait 10 minutes to get a glass of water? We even told the server before we ordered that we had to go back to work afterward and would need to be out in an hour, didn't work. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time and asked for our checks when our food came so we could save time, still didn't make it out on time. The service is just ridiculously slow, I don't know where they get their servers from, or how they train them, but it needs to be addressed quick. Our food came out cold on multiple occasions. Not recommended at all, unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

Does the Olive Garden even deserve a spot on Yelp? It isn't much worse than going to Taco Bell for Mexican food. I will never understand why people actually wait in line for this place.

We had called ahead at 5:45 and said we would be there at 6:30 for the "call ahead reservation" and they said that would be fine....we upheld our end of the bargain but we didn't get seated until 7:20. So, we were off to a rocky start. They gave us a free appetizer for our troubles. We had a combo plate which was adequate. My husband had salad with his meal and I had the pasta fagioli soup, which was missing something. For the main entree, my husband had the shrimp and chicken bucatini that he said was good but not spectacular. I had the chicken Parmesan which came with 2 pieces of chicken the size of half dollars. Wow, were those things small! Mine also came with spaghetti, which was average. The service left something to be desired. The highlight and the star of the show was the peach raspberry iced tea with free refills. Although, we had to tell our waiter when our glass was empty :(. It didn't taste too raspberry but it did have a good peach flavor. The dessert menu looked tasty but we had homemade strawberry cake waiting for us at home!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
