My husband and I love coming to this local restuarant. The service is always friendly and warm. Im in love with the Buffalo CHicken Slad, its huge! We never feel like were being rushed either. Sometimes we get a server who takes a while for drink refills, but we love everything else so we keep going back!

Went Friday night. Super friendly bar staff while we waited for our table. The fish fry is one of the best I've had since Ralph's Steak House closed years ago. Good tartar sauce. Potato pancake was good sized (could use more onion), and friendly waitresses. Next time I'm back visiting my parents in Williams Bay we are coming here. Highly recommend.

Went in on Friday for the fish fry and I enjoyed it but there were a few things I didn't enjoy. The fish was fresh and very hot when we got it. Very fresh non fishy Taste. Cons of the meal.. The fish was a bit greasy (it is fried though) and the potatoe pancakes are a bit too heavy. Overall for a quick bite I enjoyed it. For dessert we got the chocolate cake and honestly I was disappointed. It was dry.. Flavorless and old tasting. Our server was very nice and attentive.

Upon planning my trip I saw this place on Yelp and wanted to try it. The selection and reviews looked good. I came 2:30 on a Wednesday. Looked like only 1 couple at a table. Waitress was at the end of the bar. No one at the bar. I walked more than halfway in so she could see me. She turned and walked to the register (okay, in the middle of something) rang up whatever, turned toward me, then turned and went in the back w/o acknowledging me. I assume from this that business is great. That losing 1 customer is not a big deal. I wish I had stayed in Lake Geneva and ate rather than driving here.

I love Wisconsin for many different reasons: the cheese, the beer, the shepherds pie.... Yes, the Shepherds Pie at Someplace Else in Elkhorn is out of this world. The flakiest damn pie crust I've ever had. It will surely change your life. I came to town on business and when I asked the desk clerk at the Hampton what he recommended for a good place for dinner, he said: "you should go to someplace else." I looked at him a little odd and he told me about this local bar and restaurant in downtown Elkhorn. I'm all about Mom & Pop kind of places, so this was an easy choice now that I wasn't offended. This is your tried and true Wisconsin bar/supper club. The bartender, Mike, was very friendly and definitely sold me on the house specials: the baked french onion soup and the shepherds pie (which was already on my mind). The french onion was, literally, one of the best soups I have ever had - thick, melted mozzarella with big chunky soup soaked croutons and a savory onion soup that is just awesome. Check my posted photo. The shepherds pie, as I subtly eluded to, is pretty good, I guess... The flaky crust is just great, with a mix of perfectly done hearty vegetables. it's so big - I should have only ate half, but I cleaned my plate as every good boy should. An easy dish for two to share, though. The best part about Someplace Else is that it's very affordable, everything is reasonably priced and comes with a more than generous helping. This is the type of place that I wish every neighborhood or small town was lucky enough to have. It's these kind of places that make me miss Wisconsin, that make me sometimes wish I was Someplace Else. Cheers!

8 top dinner tonight. The new girl was training (why put a trainee with an 8 top?!?!) with another server. They took the children's orders first so one would assume the kids food would come out first, not the case! Got our appetizer salads then after 5 min the people who ordered soup were served with no spoon! Took quite awhile to get main course (cold fries) and one of the children got no food. Took ages to get his order, they were very flustered. Sat down at 5:30 and not served dinner until 6:45, this is not a fine dining establishment where you get course by course, this is a bar/diner. Got a free dessert for the wait and cold fries and the kids food mix up but way too frustrated at this point for it to be ok.

One of my favorite Friday Fish Fry's in the entire Walworth Lakes region. Potato pancakes are fantastic, the fried fish is crispy, and the broiled fish has a delicious garlic crust. While the menu is big and pretty typical, what sets them apart is all of their homemade goodies. Soups, salad dressings, dessert - all homemade and really good. Haven't had a clunker meal yet.

I would give Someplace Else 3.5 stars as nothing is particularly wrong with it nor great about it. They have good service and the food is pretty good, big portions. I find the restaurant and bar clean and friendly.

My husband and I wandered into Someplace Else this past weekend on a road trip. We found this place on Yelp and made the quick jaunt over to Elkhorn. It is only 2 miles off of the interstate in a very quaint Wisconsin town. We had to stop for a group of about 9 teenagers that were crossing the street and they actually waved to thank us! This is an older bar and grill type of place located right in a downtown storefront type of building. The walls are covered with local memorabilia and sports teams. The bar is large and inviting but we chose to sit at a table, as we had our teenage son with us. The service was SPOT ON! Our server, Kelly, was very knowledgeable and actually talked me into having their BIG Bloody Mary (called a Bubba something or other) that came with a meal as garnish. It had shrimp, cheese, sausage, olives, pickles, green onion, a pepperoncini, celery....and I am sure I am missing something. But it was a "masterpiece" as she called it. My husband and son ordered typical bar fare....a burger and a Rueben. The sandwiches were generous and came with 2 sides. I had the chicken pot pie. This was nearly large enough to feed an entire family so I only ate about a quarter of it, but it was excellent with a light flaky crust and large chunks of white meat chicken inside. We will definitely be going back to Someplace Else if our future takes us near Elkhorn again. The prices were very reasonable for the homemade food....nothing was mass produced. The soups were even homemade.

I sat down and as soon as my feet went under the table I was stepping on chips. The chicken noodle soup was incredibly salty. I ordered the salmon with veggies instead of potato. The veggies were doused with in oil...I would skip the encrusted topping, as it was a dry, loosely layered crust on top after the salmon was warmed up. The only thing I ate was the salmon, and the crackers that came with the salty soup. ;( For $18-$20, I was hoping for a lot more.

Dinner on 8/29/2014. I had the baked cod and my husband had the top sirloin filet. Entrees come with soup or salad, choice of potato and bread. We both had the salad and it was a generously side salad of romaine lettuce, not iceberg as I would have expected. There was a little tomato plus matchstick cut carrots and cucumber. I liked that without asking, dressing was served on the side. We both had the baked potato and it was average size and not dry in the least. It came with sour cream and butter, of course, though some places you have to ask for the sour cream. The filet was petite 8 oz but cooked just the way he ordered it. My cod was huge! I could only eat half. Without tip it was $36, which seemed fair for the amount of food. The waitstaff was very attentive. Only downside is the giant Jenga game in the bar area. When it topple over it was loud and put a halt to our conversation.

Everything at this restaurant was excellent. We sat at the bar for dinner. The bartenders were great, mixed great drinks. We could actually taste the alcohol and not just the mixers. Our food came out quickly, even with the place packed. We had the pot pie and fish fry. Both were great. We enjoyed everything about this place and will certainly return.

Someplace Else is definitely a gem in Downtown Elkhorn. They're doing a whole lot fo things right with the menu - they focus on doing a modest number of dishes and doing them very well with fresh ingredients and well prepared food. I've been here several times and have had both the Stuffed Chicken (a great take on Chicken Cordon Bleu) and Parmesan Crusted Chicken each time. They've been so great I haven't wanted to venture on to anything else yet. Their other signature chicken dish is Chicken Pot Pie that I have not tried but companions have loved. On the burger side they have HUGE pub burgers that are always a hit with my son. The same attention to freshness and detail extends to the burgers as well. The staff has always been inviting and attentive even on busy Friday nights. Overall a great pub experience but with excellent food. My only small quibble would be they close a bit early for sometimes late habits. Small quibble at best though. Overall you should like the experience!

The perfect small town family owned restaurant. They serve great traditional amercian cuisine from ribs n steaks to a terrific Friday fish fry. They don't have anything bizzarre or exciting on the menu but everything they do they do very very well :)

Yeah, it's nothing that's going to be featured in Bon Appetite anytime soon (but they did borrow a recipe from it). And yeah, it's not winning any sort of bartending awards. But it's got a winning charm that'll bring you back. I think the first post summed up the pros and cons pretty well. What I'd add is that the food comes out kind of slowly, but that's just what I like on a lazy Friday night. Good friends, good food and good times. If you like the slower pace of country life, this is the place for you.

Bar food the way it should be. I've never had a bad experience and always leave overstuffed. I highly recommend the Freakin' Fries. You won't even need to order an entree.
