Ye Olde Manor House

Stayed with John and Karen with a bunch of my friends and attended a wedding at nearby Camp Wandawega. This place is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and quiet. I spent a morning reading out in a shady garden spot and it was divine. My bed was very comfortable and all the rooms are very nice, clean and homey. John and Karen are amazing food artists, making breakfast daily with herbs fresh from their garden. They took pity on my in my caffeine-deprived state each morning, serving as much coffee as I could possibly handle. Bacon was perfectly crispy and everything was just wonderful. If you're looking for a peaceful, quiet place to get away from it all, I can't recommend Ye Olde Manor House enough@
Had a great time last weekend at YOMH. I was a little nervous; I'd never stayed in a B&B before and I had a hard time imagining sharing someone's home as opposed to the usual, impersonal hotel stay we're used to. But it was so much more comfortable. The owners John and Karen really want your stay to be as relaxing as possible. And sharing the space with other guests with whom you can converse over a lovely breakfast is so enjoyable. My sister and I were there for a the Dave Matthews Band shows at Alpine Valley, so we were a little outside the typical demographic (the other guests were all couples), but they made the Terrace View room up as twin beds for us. It was right beside the dining room (so if you choose this room, know that you will be up around 8:00 when breakfast is served), very close to the gorgeous indoor pool and garden on the main floor away from the other guests. Really happy we made the decision to stay here instead of Lake Lawn Lodge, where we've stayed the past several years as it got worse and worse. This is a gem.
We stayed at Ye Olde Manor during a trip to visit friends staying at Camp Wandawega. We had such a wonderful time here - every morning something new and different (and delicious) for breakfast, great conversation with John and Karen, swam in the pool, walked around the beautiful yard, and relaxed with a glass of wine near the pond in the back yard. It was a perfect getaway spot. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Wisconsin!

It's Subway. I think I could eat subway for every meal of every day. I'm glad the five dollar footlong caught on because, now more than ever, you get more bang for your buck here than anywhere. Also, at this particular location, you sometimes get a free cookie. I'm not exactly sure when you do, but cross your fingers. The only downside is that during lunch there is often no room to sit because of the full dining area, but it's just as good to go.

Just stopped for the second visit. Great before, great again. Special was a pork loin and ham sandwich on grilled sourdough. No processed meat. Only the real deal. Super nice folks with a nice atmosphere.
We started with a light, flavorful chicken polenta soup. I had the sockeye salmon, and it may have been the best I have ever tasted. The salmon was moist and the skin was deliciously charred. Served on brown rice cakes with a delightful lemon-dill sauce. Service is very attentive. The drive from Racine to Elkhorn was worth it.
Quality, wholesome, healthful and nourishing food that you can feel good about eating! All this plus a great environment to enjoy your coffee/tea/smoothie and good food! We love this family owned bistro! The owners are very educated in using quality ingredients and don't sacrifice to make a buck! Local honey, maple syrup, quality bakery products, great locally roasted coffee, tea and so on!

The only thing that sucked was the cellphone service! Delicious burger and fries. Great drinks! If you want to have a spectacular time go when the bartender Scotty is working. Very nice guy!
Popped in for lunch while passing through. Staff was friendly, food was fresh and hot. Southwest egg rolls were nummy!
Ordered a plain cheeseburger and an avacado/jalapeño burger. Both were OK. Ordered a tap beer that was flat and not terribly cold. Probably wouldn't make a point to go back but I don't necessarily regret stopping in either.

CJ's Kountry Inn is about as good as it gets for country breakfast. They're only open early, like 5AM-11:30AM, so you have to get out of your drunk bed on Saturday morning if you want to enjoy their excellent food. The breakfast is a generally American style, with a few special dishes. Specifically the "Plates". The "Plates" are heaping mounds of mixed skillet fare. I prefer the "John's Plate", which, if memory serves, is two double yolk eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, mushrooms, cheese, some peppers, etc.. It comes in Full, 1/2 and 1/4 sizes, and trust me, 1/4 is about the size of a normal meal and 1/2 is pushing it. I've seen many a hungover man try and conquer a full "Plate" and fail. There are several types of "Plates" available, along with more normal stuff like pancakes, waffles and the like. Best thing is, CJ's is inexpensive all around to boot. Even sides like english muffins and so forth are non-confiscatory. Love this place.
This is classic small-town, home-cooked eats. While off the beaten path, unless you happen to be at Kettle Moraine state park, this is a local gem. No fuss. Inexpensive. Delicious. The menu is standard diner-type fare. I took the advice of another review to have the Jon's Plate. As a disclaimer, I eat great quantities of food - especially when hiking. Having finished 10 miles in 95 degree heat the previous day, I was ready for a serious breakfast. A half-order of the Jon (sounds racy, but here refers to a piling of hashbrowns, ham, cheese, eggs, etc.) with a half-order of made-from-scratch biscuits and gravy followed by coffee and OJ amounted to a full meal...and then some. All for about $12. The order took some time, because a) it was cooked-to-order, and b) the regulars got their food first - you can't blame a truly local place for this: it's how they survive. Everything was delicious; definitely greasy spoon, but absolutely in the way you would hope. Attentive service by the congenial man who appears to own the place. Oh, and the decor is exactly right for the place. M&M memorabilia in every nook and cranny. An entire display of Campbell's soup cups and bowls within an old hutch. And photos of family and friends everywhere. Taking all this in, you can't help to feel relaxed and at home. This is worth the 5 minute detour off I-43. Then take a little time to drive a couple of miles south into Elkhorn proper. Lots of charm.
Good food, Great service even though short handed. Recently updated decor. Nice comfortable place to get a bite to eat.

Had a charcoal-grilled cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate malt. Next time, I'll try the shrimp basket or gyro. There's a lot to choose from. Decided to give this place a try based on good reviews. I was not disappointed. Best malt I've had in years.
I literally felt nauseous after eating here. We waited half an hour for our food, even though there were few customers and there were many people in the kitchen. There was one girl running food out to people, one guy working the grill, and three girls standing around talking or on their phones. I honestly couldn't tell if one of the girls worked there or if she was just a friend of a worker. The food was too expensive and below - average quality. They also messed up our order. The bugs were terrible, even inside. Walking in, I felt very unwelcome, like I was a burden. It was also pretty dirty. I would definitely not recommend or return.
Place is cute if you're in the mood for casual. Burgers are tasty and priced well. Ordered cheese curds and they were pretty average. Serving size was lame, for the $3.59 price tag. Ok but not a place I'd travel out of my way for.

For the longest time, this place sat empty. As a kid, I always thought how neat it would be for someone to turn it into a restaurant. About three years ago, someone finally did. Today it actually has a really nice interior with flat screen televisions and a fantastic pool table. Adorning the walls are pictures of pool legends from the past and you will almost always find yourself matched with a shark here. What makes this place great is the fact that they pull some pretty interesting local bands in like Neutral Zone and Clear Blue Betty. That would probably be the times this place gets the most packed.

Unbelieve good!
Decent Chinese food. The eggrolls are admittedly amazing, but the rest of the food simply did not taste authentic when compared to some of the others you might find in the area. Pork fried rice seemed kind of plain, and general's chicken had very little bite to it.
LOVE there food. We brought my parents when come for a visit and they are super picky. They loved it as well. Every dish as so good.

New owner took over last fall. She has continued with the old favorites and has added some new products to the pastry case. It's all good! Skip the chain bakeries and stop here for your cakes, pastries, pies, and bread.
Truly a traditional Bakery something we do not see much of here in the LA / OC area. Stopped by the day after Christmas to pickup a few goodies for my visit with a dear friend. Got a doughnut, was a tad on the heavy side for a glazed and half a doz Kolaczki cookies, they were superb.
I'm a big fan of their pecan rolls and cheese donuts. The items I have purchased have been fresh and tasty.
