It has been a while since i have been here, so the quality may have changed a bit. I was a bit disappointed when i came here. i thought that the fish was not fresh, and the preperation was "sloppy" this combined with the prices, left me unwiling to make a return visit. I am not a sushi snob, but i have been to enough places to recognize good from bad.

delicious. friendly, knowledgeable staff. spectacular food. I sat at the sushi bar for lunch had two rolls for 10 bucks. the chefs even made me a special treat on the house. the chefs, waitress's and waitstaff made me feel incredibly welcome. great food in suburbia. I'll be heading back.

Wasabi is my top pick for sushi in Milwaukee. It is priced a bit higher than Fujiyama, Screaming Tuna and others downtown but I feel the size and taste to their rolls allow for the price point to be higher. I've been in several times for both lunch and dinner as well as carry out and we've always had great customer service. I would definetley recommend Wasabi for sushi!

The new guys at Wasabi are the real deal. I have been devoted to sushi since 1970 and Taki, James and TK are world class, I look forward to having some truly exotic food in the near future (read this as rare and still alive at the time of service). There has never been a suitable sushi place here before these guys took over the sushi bar at Wasabi....

When Wasabi first opened it was a very good restaurant and the price was pretty good. What we have noticed over the last year is the service has gone down hill and the price has gone way up. It does have a pretty cool interior and a nice bar area. There is a Sushi restaurant that is about a mile from this that has better food and better service and cost less but not as nice inside. I go for better food over interior.

Service was very attentive. Atmosphere was good. Food and selection were above average. Prices were entirely reasonable. I would definitely return.

We've been here many time and have always enjoyed the food (though it is pricey) which for us has mainly been rolls and the spicy tuna seaweed salad. The service has left us disappointed too many times to try again. Our visit this evening, left us sitting at our booth for 10 minutes after we were seated, before our server came to start taking care of us. She never offered water refills which always irks me. It was not a busy evening, plenty of tables were open and as usual, we seem to have to wait a very long time for them to take care of our bill. The owner is often walking around and there has been other times where he has seen our service was slow and we would them see him getting on our server. Was not the case this evening. I can't say we'll go back and I sure wish there was a more reasonably priced, and tasty sushi restaurant near us as we live about 20 minutes west of Brookfield.

We have gone to Wasabi on a few occassions and the food was always good...UNTIL this last time in June 2012. I ordered my usual, the Chilean seabass that comes stuffed with crab and is over grilled veggies. I ordered this from the menu, which had that same description. What came on my plate was plain seabass with some noodles with a cream sauce. I told him this is not what the menu stated and the server told me there was a new chef who was upgrading the menu. I told him, you can't change something and not change the menu, or at least you have to tell your customers if an item has changed. It took them another THIRTY minutes to cook my food, while I sat there hungry and pregnant and waited! Meanwhile, my husband had finished his meal (sushi) which he also said was not as good as times before. Their new chef is obviously not a good one!

We were out west today and decided to give this place a shot. We had a very enjoyable and tasty meal. My wife loved her udon noodles with tempera. I had some very fresh sushi and tasty ahi poke (sort of Hawaiian style -- not perfect but much easier than flying to Oahu). They brought my daughter's kid's meal out right away (smart) on a children's plate, but the food was as good as a regular meal. I'm actually a bit surprised that the Yelp rating is not higher. This is probably in the top 3 Milwaukee Japanese places.

No seaweed in a spicy tuna & seaweed salad? Used krab not crab in Alaska roll & mushroom appetizer, use of artificial crab meat should be acknowledged. Food well prepared & ample portions fair value.

I have been here a handful of times, and it has always been good. I sat at the sushi bar not too long ago, and the chef prepared us his signature roll for free, which was quite a nice surprise. I had lunch there today, and the food was very good. The rolls were large, and they had a lot of filling. I wish they offered soup AND salad rather than sound OR Salad with their lunch specials. The salad we had today was good, but the dressing was very watery. The service was very slow, but we enjoyed ourselves. The food all seemed fresh, and they have a lot of very unique rolls. The other thing I really like is how the spicy tuna roll is actually spicy. Its not a cheap place to eat, but they do a nice job!

Overpriced food for an underwhelming experience. Granted, I might be a snob about sushi because it's easy to find cheap and delicious sushi in California, but if you're looking for a sushi place in Milwaukee, look elsewhere. Head over to Takara, which is just a stone's throw away from this place. I ordered what I usually order at new sushi places I try (Rainbow roll + Tuna). In the words of the friend who came with me: "the roll looked much more colorful on the menu." Overall, everything was just mediocre. The rice was a little stale, the fish wasn't as fresh as it could be, and my meal cost me $17 + tax. In other words, not worth it. Oh, and don't believe what it says on the website, cause they no longer offer happy hour on Sundays.

Did take out here yesterday for lunch and I was utterly sad that it made me decide never to come here again..unless they change chefs/management. I ordered the 2 rolls lunch of spicy tuna and chicago roll. Both rolls were POORLY rolled to the point that the insides were coming out when I picked them up with my chopsticks. It would have been salvageable if the fish was decent but like the presentation, the taste correlated. I also got the steak lunch box assuming it would be similar to beef teriyaki but not as sweet and over the phone they asked me how I liked my steak cooked so I said medium. When I opened the box it was not steak. It was bulgogi (korean marinated sliced beef). Why did they ask me how I liked my steak cooked if it wasn't steak? And for the amount they gave me (a few pieces) it was NOT reflected on the $10 lunch price. Those that is familiar with bulgogi or korean meats knows that its the cheapest of korean meats. Poor sushi and an OBVIOUS false advertisement of their "steak" brings it down to a 1 star.

First off, let me say that I'm not a sushi lover. The people that I was with seemed to love the food at Wasabi; so I have to assume that it was good. The place seems fairly busy. I was there on a Wednesday night after 7:00 PM. I visited once before, on a week night as well, and they had a decent crowd both times. Service from our waitress was very good. Service from the bar was a bit slow. Overall, the service and food were good. In my opinion, prices seem high. My problem with Wasabi is the ambience. The place is nice enough, insofar as how it looks. The problem, for me, is everything that was going on, that was completely unrelated to the food. The music sucked. They actually have a radio station on... commercials and all. Then, at the bar, the TV is on... sports. Then there is a large screen that is supposed to show photos of the items on the menu. This screen is served by a computer browser that was stuck on the same page the whole time, showing a handful of food choices which were supposed to be shown as a slide show, one at a time. No one took the time to reboot the computer or restart the slideshow. There was a large pull-down-style screen above our table. Thank goodness nothing was being projected on that! Will I go back? Probably. My friends like the food. Would I chose to go to another sushi restaurant with better ambience? Most definitely, if I have anything to say about it. At the prices that Wasabi charges, I think the whole experience should be positive, not just the food.

I'm not entirely sure why I keep going back to Wasabi. I have never had good meal here, but convenience maybe? Bad indicator #1: The fish tastes fishy, which makes me think it's not very fresh. Also, the one time I ordered spicy tuna (my favorite at most sushi places!), it was so hot it was inedible. I tell myself every time I go that I'm never going back. Maybe next time I'll listen to my own advice.

Loved the food and service here. I came here for lunch and they had great specials. I got a california roll and a phili roll. I have also gotten the chicken lunch boxes in the past. I have been here about 5 times and have had a great experience every time. I have never tried take out but will in the future.

I dined with a large group last night at around eight o'clock. It was my friend's birthday, and most of our party have never tried Wasabi. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartender could not have been more wonderful. I'm not sure is she was a manager, but she took really good care of us. Overall, the service was on point throughout our stay. I had the Atomic Roll, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a little fire in their belly. It wasn't painfully spicy but I could feel the heat later on. I also had the Tsunami Roll, and liked it more out of the two. The salmon was smooth as butter, and almost melted in my mouth. The tuna was delightful, as well. It was light in texture, and fresh in taste. I had a couple pieces of the Maiko Roll, and it knocked my socks off. If you're craving for a more decadent roll, I recommend getting this one. The combination of the cream cheese, tempera, eel sauce, and smoked salmon exploded my taste buds. It seemed like it'd be too much, but it realy worked as a whole. It was so good, it was borderline sinful. And to top off the meal, someone mentioned it was my friend's birthday, so the staff came out with a bowl of green tea ice cream while every one sang "Happy Birthday". Wasabi did a great job handling my friend's birthday. The first timers liked it. The regulars were happy. We all enjoyed our meal, and I can tell my friend had a great time. So, thank you, Wasabi. You're still my favorite.

I am typically not a spur of the moment let's have sushi kind of girl. I typically won't eat sushi unless I'm along a coast line... But I absolutely enjoyed our meal! From start to finish everything was right on point and extremely fresh. I will defiantly be back! I thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. The service was also on point!

Came here for the first time with friends. Nice atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but she was still friendly. Ordered dragon roll and California roll. It was very good. The only complaint I would have is that they should provide customers with a golfer's pencil to fill out the sushi sheets. Other than that everything else was superb.

    (5)
  • Jordon H.

Very nice date atmosphere. Nothing to complain about really. Food was above average but expect to spend over 20 to get full. If quantity is your thing then look elsewhere. Service was great staff was friendly and helpful. With better food I would have given 5 stars. I would recommend this place.

  • Megan E.

Each time I've been here I've found the waitstaff to be curt and they made me feel awkward for asking questions. The food is pretty good, especially for the area. I enjoy the variety I get with the lunch boxes. I would give 4 stars if it weren't for the staff.

Meh. Food: C- We've eaten her twice and I have yet to be impressed. I've had four different types of Sushi rolls and in general, they have been limp, boring, and tasted a bit stale. The best thing I have eaten her so far has been the Wasabi shumai. Service: A Very friendly, very attentive. In general, very snappy. There are enough sushi-chefs to keep things moving at a good pace. Interior: B+ Very nice, nicer than many of the other newer suburban sushi restaurants. A slight reduction for the bathrooms. They have been less that "sparkling" on both visits. I think they are trying to hide that by limiting the lights to about 12 watts. Value: C- Too expensive for the quality, even when the rolls are discounted Mon-Thursday. Parking: B Plenty of it, but shared with other businesses in the strip mall. Even after two disappointing visits, I'll probably try it again. Maybe I just need to find the right rolls. It just has to be better than what I've had so far.

The crunch roll is amazing! The server was under what was expected. When we asked for more ginger to a server that wasn't ours he acted like he would do something about it and then after waiting for at least 5 minutes of eating we finally saw our server and asked for the ginger he got it immediately but the other guy never asked our server to get it and he didn't do anything to get it for us. The food is a little pricey but it was very good. We will definitely be going back there!!

Tonight was my second time getting take out sushi from Wasabi. First experience was a solid 4, not tonight. Consistency is clearly an issue. Sushi this evening had too much rice, no spice on a spicy tuna roll, and sea urchin that had a strong smell and wasn't good - all quality issues. We also got the dynamite roll and that was awful - a weird flavor combination with a sweet aftertaste and no spice. The presentation also left a lot to be desired (looked like canned mushy salmon on top of a California Roll). Truly disappointed with this experience.

    (2)
  • Mikako D.

We enjoyed their sushi. We'd like to come again. There is only one thing we didn't like was BBQ eel sauce they use for many rolls. It was too smokey for us. Other than that their service is great too and their staffs are friendly.

Love the sushi here. The fish is fresh and the chefs are very creative at this place. Love how they are always looking for ways to update their menu. Love the new management team they put in place. My families first choice for sushi in Milwaukee area. If you are new to sushi they also have a great Asain Fusion food. My top 5 favorite restaurants in Milwaukee.

Stopped here for takeout for lunch on a Friday. Their lunch specials are good - $13ish for 3 rolls. The place itself looks really nice and clean. Decor is nice. I got the Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura and Philadelphia roll. The fish was all fresh and cut well. But honestly, I've had a lot better. The rice was gummy and there was just way too much of it. The rolls generally lacked a whole lot of flavor too. The Spicy Tuna was plenty spicy but almost overwhelmingly so, you couldn't really taste the rest of the roll. Overall, pretty disappointed in this place. I'd maybe give it one more try if I'm in the area again, but I won't keep my hopes up.

I come here for lunch a lot, I love their lunch deals on the sushi rolls. I love the spicy tuna roll, eel and avocado, and california roll. I have tried the shrimp tempura roll twice, but it is not as good as the others. Their bibimbop is also really good.

I used to be a big fan. great atmosphere and great sushi. However it seems their sushi has declined over the last 1-2 years...?chef turnover, new management, not sure...but I've found the fish to be not as fresh as in the past, inconsistently made rolls, inconsistent sashimi sizes (2 separate vists = vastly different sizes of sashimi), the last ahi poki i received some of the tuna had portions still frozen, and there was maybe 2 pieces of seaweed and the rest was lettuce greens. I want to love this place - it does have a great atmosphere and fun to go to with friends, and we're in real need of a good quality sushi restaurant in this area, but it seems to be turning into just another stripmall sushi place

This is my favorite sushi place in the metro Milwaukee area. The menu has variety. You get more for the money than you would at other places. The fish is fresh. The rice is spot on. I appreciate the limited use of sauces and roe. The service staff isn't always the best, but the food makes up for it. I've been here no less than a dozen times and have never had any sushi less than good; most great. The ambiance is a bit strange. Last time I was in they were playing pop music and had Food Network playing on the TVs. I'm not knowledgable in sake, but they have several varieties available. They also offer Japanese beers and soda. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

I can't lie - I'm a sushi snob. I've lived in LA, currently live in Chicago but cover the Milwaukee area for work. Wasabi is by far the best sushi location I have found in the greater Milwaukee area. I actually almost don't want to write this review for fear it'll become over popular and I'll lose my sacred secret lair - but they deserve it so I'm writing it! The sushi chefs here are amazing - friendly and love creating dishes for you. The staff is always very friendly and the manager is top notch! Check it out!

I ended up liking Wasabi more than their sister restaurant Kanpai. Both locations have lovely interiors and an extensive (and expensive) menu and both definitely try hard for a "trendy" atmosphere. Prices are on the high side, but frequent specials and coupons help. Mondays have reduced price rolls & Thursdays have $1 house sake. There was also a special Anniversary menu for Dec 2013 with reduced prices on specialty rolls. In general, I liked what I ordered - though one roll was way overstuffed with rice and the pieces were too large to eat in one bite (also one of my complaints at Kanpai). The Mister really liked one of his rolls and was "meh" on another - it included lettuce which gave a weird texture and the pieces were also enormous. Service here was friendly - our sushi was delivered quickly and a manager stopped by to make sure we were happy. Presentation is beautiful, but unusual - one if my rolls came with a tortilla chip stuck in each piece for some reason. Overall, I'd rate the food a 3.5 but good service and a nice atmosphere bump it up to a 4. I do think Wasabi's regular menu is pretty overpriced, so I'm not sure they would make it into our normal rotation when there are many other places doing it as well or better at lower prices.

Some pluses: 1. They take reservations. 2. Half-price Sushi Monday nights! 3. Great interior and lighting sets a nice mood inside. 4. The staff treated us SUPER well on my first visit - even a free ice cream treat! AND a coupon to come back next time. 5. Extremely roomy booth seating - my favorite! I would definitely go back to Wasabi - overall a very positive experience, and I especially loved my Sweet Potato Roll. Check it out.

We swung into Wasabi to kill a little time before the premiere of Metallica's Through The Never movie. It was a Thursday night at around 7:30 and we were one of a very small handful of people that were in the restaurant. Promptly seated near the sushi bar area; waiter swung by to introduce himself and to take our drink orders. He returned within a few minutes, Asahi's and waters in tow. I asked the server what he or the chef would recommend we have to eat; every other sushi place I've been to has always recommended something extremely fresh and/or tasty. Our server said, "Well, a lot of people like the Oh-my-god roll and the Packer roll." I said, "So, no special recommendations for today?" His response, "Those are pretty special rolls, I think." Ok. So, we ordered the Oh-My-God roll, the Tatki roll, and the Mercy roll, along with a few pieces of nigiri (hamachi and mackeral). The orders arrived quickly. The Oh-My-God roll is a bit of a gimmick... wrapped in foil and served over flaming Bacardi 151, the result is a sort-of steamed sushi roll. I didn't pick-up any of the eel sauce or spicy may flavor. The Tataki roll was odd because I would swear ours didn't include cucumber, but it did include some bizarre sauce over it. The Mercy had zero heat and also included a semi spicy sauce, which wasn't identified in the menu. The nigiri was ok; not knock-your-socks-off great, but not bad by any means. Service was a bit spotty, but not bad. Total bill came to just under $90, which felt a tad steep.

This place is just as advertised in my opinion good food classy but not to classy where you feel awkward and great food to end it. I am unsure why this place was given a less than five starts unless you are the type of person that believes there is always room for improvement in which case carry on.

    (5)

Just eh... Pricey. Rice in the rolls wasn't that fresh -- was dry. The sashimi combo was so-so: salmon, tuna, yellow tail, mackerel, and white tuna.

  • Catherine G.

The prices are fairly steep but if you can get over the mark up, it's a good experience. It has a romantic, intimate vibe with dim lights and posh booths. They've definitely revamped it in recent years as it looked very different 4 years ago. Eel nigiri - very fresh and smokey Uni nigiri (sea urchin) - if you're into eating crab guts, this is for you! yummm Tuna poke - served with seaweed salad in a martini glass. Tasty but not a lot of tuna Dragon roll - one of my all time favorites but if I had to pick, I think I still like the eel nigiri more Sesame - (fresh shrimp over lobster, king crab, shrimp tempura w/ ponzu sauce) -kind of weird tasting. Not too flavorful - too large of a roll with too much rice. Rainbow - relatively fresh fish but not out of the world good Kamikaze - (spicy salmon over spicy tuna) super yum Owned by Koreans so their Korean entrees are yummy too! I can't speak for Wasabi, but at their sister restaurant Kanpai Izakaya in the Third Ward, they have really yummy bibimbaps, kalbi ribs, lamb chops.

Every restaurant should have a call server button!! (Check the pic, didnt get to use it, though - bummer, so don't know if it works) It had the Best looking salad than any other sushi place I've been too. Just lovely :) I specifically went here because they had wi-fi. Wanted to eat and work at the same time since I was dining alone. After receiving my sushi around 2pm and getting comfortable spreading my work out: BAD NEWS! These people told me they closed at 2:30pm! WHAT?!?! Only to open again at 4pm! Whaaat?!?! WHY?!?! It wasn't bad enough that I just got my sushi 30 mins ago and I'm a slow eater, but 10x worse because I came there specifically for the wi-fi so I could work. This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard either you are open or your not. Imagine if Starbucks shut down from 2-4pm everyday?? What the hell. Get it together, Wasabi!! Don't kick guests out in the middle of the day!!!

I am in the city on business and wanted to find a sushi bar. This was close to the hotel I was staying at so I decided to give it a try. When I walked in the place was pretty empty. They seated me at the table next to the door . Since there were so many available tables I asked if I could be seated at a booth by the wall. The host said "she told me to seat you here" then walked away. I grabbed the menus and walked over to him and asked again if I could sit at one of the booth tables. She sighed annoyingly and told the host to seat me next to the wine rack in the corner. Again there was no one there. It felt more like she put me there out of spite. I asked her what the difference was. She said she needed those tables for other customers. I walked out. I don't need to be treated like an invalid. I guess I am m not a customer. Went down the street to fujiyama instead.

As Rachel F. said "the ambiance is a bit chain restaurant-ish (a bit too clean, a bit too organized, everything in its right place to the Nth degree)." Not what I was expecting when the location is in a strip mall. Greeted when arrived and left with many saying good-bye.Waitress wasn't talkative. Went on a Monday for lunch to get the half off sushi. They have a separate sheet for that deal. A huge list of the same old same old and fun inventive sushi to choose from. Enjoyed the Marina and the Tempura Sweet Potato roll had a great crunch that went well with the soft rice. Will be back to try omakase (the chef chooses the sushi).

Fresh Sushi, Nice Atmosphere and Friendly Staff - Enough said, Right? Went for dinner last night - we had an assortment of sashimi including White Tune, Yellow Tail, Salmon, and Red Snapper. Super Fresh with nice size cuts! We also enjoyed the Flaming Dragon Roll - it actually comes with Flames to your table. Hope you enjoy!

This is one of my go to places for sushi and some Korean food in the Milwaukee area. Their menu is extensive and great variety of dishes. We usually get the spicy tuna roll first and it has never disappointed. My favorite dish here is the Korean dish, Bibimbop. I know who would think to get a Korean dish at a Japanese restaurant. Many of the servers are Korean and they also love this dish. Service has always been good here.

Garbage!!!!! If you think this is sushi you need to get out of Wisconsin. I tasted the maguro (tuna) nigiri just for kicks. You can tell by looking at the color of the fish it's nowhere near fresh. Save money!! Dip a piece of chewing gum in soy sauce (same experience). It docent end there..... I think they did not hear me correctly when I ordered a 14 dollar kamikaze roll. They understood.... "I want a 14 dollar rice roll"!!!! Seriously you just should have brought me a plate of rice with salmon shavings on top. The food was offensive!!!!! I look for Asians eating at a sushi place. I'm Mexican and If you see me eating in a Mexican restaurant in Chicago 9 times out of 10 you will have a great meal. The other time I'm out trying out new places. That was my first sign, the second was the color of the tuna. Before the server even sat it down I knew it was garbage. Don't waste your money here.... Unless you want the cheesy samurai chant and order California rolls. I mean.... Can you really mess up a California roll?! I'm fair but firm... The service was really good!!!!! Good servers and good people up front. I wanted to tell them so bad how bad their food sucked but they were just too nice :)

Let's start with the ambience as a talking point. Rachel you seem in indicate that clean and tidy is almost a bad thing. I would like you to expound on that thought a bit more. Wasabi is very clean and well put together. It's quite aesthetically pleasing. That kind of attention to detail shows an overall level of pride in an establishment and helps me to believe that they care for the product behind the scenes just as well. I find it reassuring. The employees here are very welcoming. The hostess, the sushi chefs and our server were all in a good mood and that made the experience start off right. I did like the call button in our booth. I think that's a great way to ensure that everyone is properly attended to. Hopefully is isn't abused by patrons :) The Gyoza was a nice starter. I can't really add anything here because of it's simplicity but it's something nice while you wait for other options. I personally ordered spicy salmon roll and the Arizona Roll. The salmon was good and the presentation was good. The arizona was a good deal larger in size which is important to mention for people put off by the price. The rice was perfectly fried here with the slightest crunch outside but yet remaining soft inside. My partner quite enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura Roll. We shared a dessert which consisted of a small chocolate cake and green tea ice cream. The presentation on this was great with a little art of sauces on our plate. It was nice and warm/hot and the ice cream was surprisingly a nice compliment. The service for us was great. I paid attention to the interaction with the other diners and noted the same level of customer service. I had that kid in a candy store feeling looking at the menu. I think they offer a great variety of different items. From standard rolls to specialty rolls it feels like they really have it covered. I feel the price is fair. It's really hard to gauge sometimes. In our geographical region people have a tendency to look for that bargain or to save money. I've done some research for fun with sushi prices in NY and Chicago and I really don't see it as an issue here. Especially if you consider what you are getting. The specialty rolls are going to run you on average $12 to $16. Classic rolls average about $7-8. They have a nice website so check out their prices and selection yourself. I think it's a really nice place, well put together, great service and pretty good selection. I enjoyed the presentation of what we ordered and would definitely go back.

Brookfield for sushi? It's not Nanakusa? Hrm. I went into this one a skeptic, but left a believer. Although the ambiance is a bit chain restaurant-ish (a bit too clean, a bit too organized, everything in its right place to the Nth degree), the sushi here is fantastic. It's inventive and exciting, and there is lots and lots to choose from. Having recently read an article about omakase, the group I was with decided to give it a go. (Oh..wait. Omakase. It's this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om… ) Giving the sushi chefs free reign over our meal turned out to be a delightful experience. There were shooters with quail eggs and mussels, ginger-coconut milk based sauces, and jalapenos in my maki. And the food kept coming and coming. The drink list is nice here, too. A varied sake and wine selection, as well as crazy mixed-up martini-like drinks aplenty. I would definitely recommend this place to the sushi enthusiast. Sushi-enthusiast. Sushi-thusiast? Eh? Clever? Sigh.

GREAT sushi. They use real wasabi which tastes so much better than the horseradish paste most places give you. The 'Oh My God' roll is indeed incredible! 50/50 on the staff. The first time we went our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu (I'm preggo w/ a sushi craving so had to stick to the cooked stuff) - he was more cautious on the cooked items than I was which I appreciated. Our second visit we had a new waiter. At least I assume he was new since he wasn't sure if the crab was cooked or not - REALLY? You work at a sushi place & don't know the crab is most definitely cooked...?? Back to the food. Love every roll we get there, love the atmosphere and freshness of the food. Probably a toss up between here & Fujiyama for our favorite place in the area. Definitely on the pricey side but worth it for a special night out.

Our last experience here kind of annoyed me. We walked in before their afternoon closure to reset for dinner service. It was about 30 minutes prior. I specifically asked the staff if it was okay if we came in considering the limited time. She said it was fine and no problem at all. Our server came to the table and was quite pushy and rude - rushing us because "the chef is going to stop making food." I was flustered, and being a Sushi place, It's hard for me to be decisive on what I want to eat. So we hurried up and ate and left. Other patrons did not appear to be as rushed or forced through as we were. They had different servers.

I have to give Brookfield its props. They are blessed with some outstanding restaurants, and Wasabi is no exception. I've been there several times for business lunches or dinner with friends and family and have yet to be disappointed. I like the décor, very clean and modern with hushed lighting. A great place to take a date. They have great specials, making. I don't know what else more to say. If you're in the mood for some excellent sushi and you're in the area, definitely check it out. My favorite rolls: sweet potato, mercy, and Chicago.

This is not a high-class restaurant. It seems that some people have judged it as such. It's a great neighborhood sushi restaurant with good deals on week nights. We've eaten here 3 times now and we haven't been disappointed yet. The sushi's always good. They have a fairly extensive plum wine and sake selection and the decor is modern and classy. I think the price is fair considering some other places I've been to in the area with similar prices and not so good food.

It didn't start well -- after the hostess seating us, no one came to our table for 25 min. Finally I went back to the hostess, and then our waitress came by. From there, everything went fine. The food was very good -- but expensive for what you get. Overall, we were happy, but should have been about 20% cheaper considering this isn't a 5-star restaurant.

Absolutely LOVED this place! I went there for the first time last Friday with my sister and her 18 month old daughter. From the moment we walked in the entire staff was extremely friendly. When we sat down they brought my sister and I some water and a kids cup with water as well. I have never been to a restaurant that brought out a kids drink right away. Our waiter was great and a lot of fun. The manager came up to us to see how we were doing during dinner and she was so nice. We were sat near the sushi chef and he was very entertaining and my niece just adored him. The food was delicious. We had a spider roll, rainbow roll, the packer and an Oh-My-God.... That was by far my favorite and oh my god so good! My niece had some chicken and rice and the best part was they have kids plates that they serve the food on. I will definitely be back and it was by far one of the best dining experiences all around!

This place just gets better and better. I always sit at the bar, order Omakase (literally "I'll leave it to you"), and let the sushi chefs do their thing, be creative. They will ask you the level you want to spend ($35 to $55 per person) and adjust accordingly.

Sat at the sushi bar between appointments for work. Attentive staff, delish pot of green tea. Enjoyed the energy behind the sushi bar and the head sushi chef with a sense of humor. The roll was big and had good portions of salmon. Scallop sushi was flavorful I would return to try dinner here some time Good service

Visited again last week and was a little put off. The sushi bar was too full to sit at (my go to spot) because the owner was sitting at the far end drinking beer with 1 or 2 off duty servers. It is his prerogative but I ended up sitting in a side table (by myself - on a business trip) and it just was not the same. Miller Roll (cucumber wrapped) was too loose and very difficult to pick up. Philly roll was great but it is hard to mess that up. All the little extras you get from sitting on the bar were missing and the wait staff was fairly inattentive. Still worth a trip but maybe not on 1/2 off sushi night (Monday) when all the locals overpack the place.

I went here on a dinner date with the boyfriend, and found it just the perfect setting. The booths are all pretty secluded and private with dim lighting and aesthetically pleasing decor. I am one who is all about the atmosphere. The menu was pretty extensive. We stuck to the sushi, which was delicious. I defnitely plan on visiting again and trying some new items out.

Went here for a business lunch today and was really impressed! Their lunch menu had great specials and was totally affordable. I stuck to some rather tame rolls, but that's okay, I'm kind of a wuss and I admit it. But still, they were quite delicious, as was the ginger salad. Decor was cool, and service was very nice.

I've eaten here several times and I think it's the only place in the area that gives Fujiyama a run for its money. The rolls are delicious (I never order California rolls- ever. But at Wasabi they make them with fresh crab- what a difference!), the atmosphere is cool and trendy and the service is good. Can't really ask for much more.

I've been eyeing Wasabi's menu online for a few months now, and I really, really wanted to love Wasabi. Maybe I just didn't order the right things here, but the spicy salmon and eel avocado rolls that I ordered were bland and just lacked that 'wow' factor I usually experience when eating sushi. Some of the nigiri pieces my husband had did not taste fresh,. Also, the miso soup I had was hardly warm? I am really glad we went on Monday, when the sushi was discounted (anywhere from 10-50%), as I would have felt cheated paying full price for anything we had. Despite the disappointing food, our service was pretty good. Sadly, I don't know that I would go back, there just too many other Sushi restaurants to try, and one in particular that doesn't ever let me down.

Fresh fish and awesome atmosphere but the 3 person boat was boring and over-priced. Told the server and was met with 'meh'. They did have dollar sake which was a nice surprise. I'm happy to spend money on sushi, I just wish it would've been a more creative spread.

Decent sushi, way over priced. You can get the exact same thing as Fujiyama for half the price. Our service was good. We sat at a table next to the kitchen door, which was not so good. I know we could asked to move, but that always seems like such a hassle. There were definitely other booths open in the front, but I think we were profiled as young and stuck in the back. That is so annoying. Our food was slightly delayed coming out, so our server brought us complimentary miso soup. That was nice. Unfortunately I don't like miso soup. Maybe I'd go back, but there are way too many other sushi places to try out to make Wasabi a return-type of place.

Enjoyed the decor, very clean. The rolls were pretty good, though overpriced. They were able to accommodated our group of 20+, especially given the size of the seating area. House Sake is $2 on Thursday, not the best sake, but damn thats cheap.

The only thing this place has going for them is decor. Their menu pricing is almost in line with Umami Moto's or Sake Tumi (think upscale). LOWER YOUR PRICES Wasabi or give better service and make quality food that justifies your overpriced menu! It was my 2nd time there last night. We brought our kids (8-12). Kids' menu was ok. The food comes in divided kiddie trays. Do not order kid's sweet sour chicken! it wasn't edible! Portions were in line with my 8 yo. So if ur kid likes to eat, order from adult menu instead. But what drove me to give a review was again I felt duped. Ordered the calamari dish. What we got was mixture of onion rings and calamari! Wasabi, if u are gonna do this let your customers know and PRICE it accordingly. Btw, their so-called "half priced" sushi on Monday isn't anything "special"! The half priced pricing should be the reg price! And Only on very selected items! Others are 20-30% off. Read "up to 50%". Don't be duped! Bottom line: if U plan on spending good $ on sushi and quality Japanese food, skip Wasabi and try Umami Moto, Screaming Tuna or Sake Tumi in Milwaukee. If u r looking to stay more local and casual dining but still good food, try Fugiyami in Brookfield. For budget friendly sushi with decent food try Ginza. Stick with Wasabi but only on Monday.

What a fancy dining room. They have call buttons on the wall of the leather booths, however, the waitress was very attentive and we never had to use it. The food, is delicious. The rolls are big; 8 generous pieces. I had the Las Vegas roll and it was so smooth and perfectly made. The fresh salmon was over the top of the roll and each piece had a drop of some sort of delicious cream on it. The salmon was so fresh and perfectly sliced. The monkey brains appetizer was very good, it was a mushroom cap, filled with spicy crab, and tuna, and then it is coated in tempura, fried and topped with spicy mayo. The mushroom caps are resting on freshly made, sweet potato chips and tempura crunch. It's a little spicy but very good. The tempura chicken and vegetables appetizer is a very large order and the tempura sauce is something special and tastes like ginger. This is tempura done right, because most restaurants in this area use panko and not tempura, because it is very difficult to get tempura just right. The vegetable fried rice is very good. It really features the vegetables over the rice. The vegetables are fresh, and evenly sized. The rice tastes like browned butter. The concept and technique is subtle, but it makes a difference and sets this restaurant apart from other Japanese restaurants that I have visited in the area. You will pay a pretty penny, so check your budget, but enjoy!

Wonderful, creative and laid back are great adjectives to describe this place. The three nigirisushi that I usually judge sushi places on are: Saba, Sake, Maguro, and Hokigai. They all all delectable, and the rice is seasoned perfectly for any season.

What a place!! I miss eating yummy sushi in NY so to have this on my recent trek to Wisconsin was a treat!! I had a sake bomber for the first time--it was truly an event...lol...followed by the love boat special (contained 40-50 pieces of sushi and sushimi plus salad and miso soup)....it was simply delicious!!!! If you are in the area visiting, definitely make this stop along the way....now it makes me wonder about the Brooklyn location of this restaurant chain...hmmmm....a review will soon be posted!

I've only been here once, but it's not my favorite. The things I didn't love: the menu does not have a separate section to let you know what is raw an what is cooked...but they will customize things for you. I wanted the sweet potato tempura which they didn't have, but said they could make...they also did not have salmon tempura...which they couldn't make. No bubble tea and no Japanese desserts. NOt an overwhelming assortment of drinks either. The lunch box was very reasonably priced however, and very good. The best thing was that there is a waitress call button...

Great sushi! This place is quiet and relaxing. The spicy tuna was spicy and the small kitchen entrees are big enough to share. I went early but I could see it getting very crowded.

We drove over half an hour each way to try out Wasabi. We made a reservation online. When we got there, we were told that our table wasn't ready - and were encouraged to wait in the bar. No big deal, grabbed drinks and were seated within a few minutes. We were seated with menus. Our table was literally 3 feet from the door the kitchen. We got to see every server and the manager walk by us a dozen times each for twenty minutes. No one stopped to welcome us, take our order, get us water or anything. I can understand if a restaurant is really busy - I woud have been pretty understanding if *ANYONE* had just said "bear wth us - we'll be with you shortly". I also probably would have been more understanding if we'd been sitting in some dark corner of the restaurant and simply gotten lost - but we weren't. After 20 minutes, I decided that I was irritated enough with the restaurant that we got up and left. As we were walking out the front door, the manager caught up with us and said that someone would be right with us. I explained that I was irritated enough that I wasn't going to enjoy dinner, and we left. We left Wasabi at 715 PM on a Saturday night - without many other options. We saw that there was a Chipotle a few doors down. We walked over and ordered our food. Five minutes after we'd been seated and started eating our fast food dinner, a manager stopped by and asked if everything was alright. At a fast food restaurant owned by McDonalds - our service experience was better than it was at Wasabi.

I think I need to agree with Thomas L. We tried Wasabi based on the recommendation from a coworker, and so were eager to see what they had to offer. Wasabi, while attractive, is a place I'll not frequent again. The prices, when compared to other local places for sushi, are quite high, and the food was only mediocre. I ordered their 'Spicy Roll' entree, which consisted of three different rolls, for $22. The entree was presented fairly nicely, but the taste was ranging from bland to stale. The miso soup was served slightly warm, which I found to be a disappointment. My wife ordered the Crab cake w/scallops dish, which she said she enjoyed other than thinking that the sauce used overpowered the delicate flavor of the scallops. She was disappointed with the flavor and temperature of the soup. A few standouts should be mentioned, however. The service was mostly good, with our waiter being attentive and conversational. He kind of disappeared towards the time we were finishing the meal, but was otherwise quite good. The other thing that we really enjoyed was the salad. Both meals came with the typical miso soup and ginger salad, but this was by far the best take on the salad I've yet had. Instead of a sweet dressing, the salad had a distinctly salty flavor that we both thought delicious. Overall, though, I would pass up this restaurant and would try Fujiyama instead. They are leagues ahead of Wasabi.

Loved this place! I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance reflects a cool restaurant and lounge. The drinks were delicious, especially the Geisha Moon martini. YUM! Appetizer...the lobster cigars are a must have!! Sushi was fresh and tasty, service was good. It's so nice to have a place like this in this area. Price is spendy but most good sushi places are. I would request a booth! The tables when you first come in are seperated only by a funky shelving for a wall so you may hear the conversation of the people next to you. Good place. I'll be going back!

Very misleading advertising regarding their half price sushi Mondays.....We got our bill and little if nothing was half price. When we asked the management they pointed to a sign 20 feet above us where the words in tiny print said "up to". Then we were told that only some of the items were "up to" discounted. None of this was indicated on the order slips we filled out. Service was mediocre and the management was less than understanding or gracious. WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN.

I frequent this place on average of 3 times a week. Overall, I highly recommend this place, if you are into Japanese food. They do have few Korean dishes, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend those. Positives ++ Food quality ... overall, sushi/sashimi are fresh. Some dishes are salty at times, but if that's the case, let the waiters know and they'll fix it for you. ++ Service ... sometimes I wonder how this place makes money given the # of staff working there. (well, now that I think of it, it makes sense why the prices are a bit steep. ha!) But, my point is that the staff is very friendly and responsive. Negatives -- Price ... yeah, it is steep for sushi/sashimi. But, you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a few more dollars and get fresh sushi/sashimi all the time than risk my health with cheaper restaurants.
