Four of us had an enjoyable brunch at noon. We called earlier and was able to be seated within 10 minutes. This place is very busy so be prepared to wait when it comes to early breakfast. She took our drink orders and allowed us to study the Menu that was easy to read. The waitress was very informative on explaining the specials. I had the pigs in a blanket with buttermilk pancakes, crepes monte cristo, egg whites with potatoes and 3 buttermilk pancakes the dining. Our only complaint was one of the meals came in 3 parts first the potatoes then the turkey sausage and later the waitress had to remind cooks about the scrambled egg whites. Otherwise 2 out of 3 had a great meal. They have a special blend of coffee called Chicago blues that smelled great.

IT'S LIKE A CRACKER BARREL but WITHOUT THE SCHMALTZY FOLKSY CRAP. WAIT: My fiancée and I had about a ten minute wait on a Saturday morning at around 11 A.M. The waiting area isn't very large so I recommend relaxing outside weather permitting. ORDERED: Buckwheat Pancakes, Cinnamon Applesauce, Two Scrambled Eggs and Coffee TASTE: The pancakes, which arrived as five small circles, were light and fluffy. I used them as a vehicle to get two tablespoons of butter, maple syrup and jam into my stomach as quickly as possible. The house-made (it bugs me when restaurants use "home made", but a restaurant isn't a house either) applesauce had chunks of soft apples in it and was tasty on my pancakes. The scrambled eggs, which are fried in real butter, had the same color and texture as fast food eggs. The coffee was above average for restaurant chains. Even though The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, they can't be expected to use Stumptown beans. SERVICE: Our waitress never let my coffee get below an inch from the rim of the cup. My partner's egg order was fumbled but our waitress removed the entire entree from our bill and apologized several times.

Not sure what the hub bub is about this place.. Or why people flock to the place like Jesus is signing autographs there, Given the bacon is awesome but we went on a Sunday morning and waited an hour just to be seated, pancakes were ok, totally not worth waiting an hour!! Cramped and loud as far as the atmosphere, Luke warm water but good strong coffee.

Over priced and not that great. I got the deluxe potatoes and bacon. Both were great but $5.50 for 4 strips of bacon was too much. My bf got the apple pancake for $10.50 which was delicious but after a few bites, it was too much sweetness and richness. Again, $10.50 for one lone pancake was a lot. In the end, $33 for 1 pancake, 2 sides, and 2 coffees were too rich for my taste. I've had better food for the same price.

Not as good as people are saying at all. Bacon doesn't even look or taste like bacon. Pancakes taste like play dough. The eggs taste like pure butter. Very disappointing.

I'm actually not a big fan of breakfast, but yum this place is so good. I got the western omelette - which is totally big enough to share and comes with a side of pancakes! I must come back to try some of their "famous dishes" like their apple pancakes. We called in before we came so our wait wasn't very long, but I hear people wait up to an hour before getting seated.

I love a good, classic pancake house, but this one just missed the mark. To start, our server was only at our table to take drink and food orders and then to give/collect the bill. We never got any water refills and we were halfway through breakfast before we could flag another server down to get some ketchup and hot sauce to accommodate eggs. The whole water thing could be solved by giving patrons bigger glasses of water from the start. I'm telling you, these were the smallest glasses of water I have ever seen at a restaurant. Also to note, they do not give refills on soda. They do state this on the menu, but I still find it odd. As oppose to most breakfast entrees coming with hash browns, everything comes with a side of pancakes here. To be fair, this is a pancake house so I shouldn't be surprised, but just another thing I found peculiar. I ordered pigs in a blanket, which were delicious and gave me that traditional pancake house vibe that I just love. Although my food experience was quite good, my friend ordered an omelette and it was not cooked all the way through. Unfortunately, our server didn't come back to check and see how things were so my friend just decided to eat around the edges and left unsatisfied. Overall, I thought the food was good (though I'm not sure my friend would say the same), but the dining experience had just enough quirks that I probably will not go out of my way to go back.

First breakfast place I visited when I moved to Brookfield. I went on a saturday and it was packed! but they kept control of the crowd and managed to have us seated at a reasonable time. I had the Swedish Pancakes with lingonberry sauce. it was really good! The sauce was tangy and sweet with the light thin pancakes so good i ate the whole thing and it's not a small dish people! my dining partner (aka Momma!) got pancakes, eggs, bacon and the rest of the traditional fare. presentation was the usual for a down to earth breakfast place. I also got to have the potato pancakes and they were pretty much awesome too! the only thing i didn't like was that you had to choose between applesauce OR sour cream. how can you choose both are so tasty! OVERALL: down to earth family vibe, awesome food lots of choices! something for everyone even my veagan uncle!

This place has the best breakfast that I have had in a long time. I had a bowl of granola and fruit with fried egg and coffee. Waitress was nice and my food came out quickly. Alot of folks come here to meet friends or conduct a morning meeting. My coffee was always refilled and price was reasonable. I did not try the pancakes so can't make a comment on that. However, this place gets the simple stuff right whereas going to Denny's may be a challenge with all the different selections like "Eggs Over my Hammy".

The Original Pancake House has great breakfast food. We have gone twice now and I was so pleased with the food I ordered upon my first visit that I craved the same thing the moment I opened the doors on my second visit. Please order the potatoes with cheese, onions, and peppers. Please order the Belgium waffle and the squeezed-to-order orange juice. My husband, - an obsessive compulsive about his Eggs Benedict joyfully reported that his order was delicious and made as it should be- his only mild complaint was that the bread/muffin on which it was laid should have been toasted (but that is an individual preference). The menu is VERY large as are the portions. The price seems right for the amount of food you get and the quality of its ingredients. The coffee is weak and has that usual diner-coffee taste. So have your cup of Alterra or home-brew before you leave. My only real complaint is the service. We have had the same server on both occasions. She is a middle-aged woman with blondish hair. She seems incredibly nice but she forgot parts of our order on both visits, and has the very unusual habit of dropping off our check before we are done eating and before asking us if we want to order anything else. Next time, we will request a different server because the food is definitely worth going back for (as is the wait to be seated that sometimes occurs).

The Pancake House is one of our family's favorite restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff is also wonderful. The pancakes are awesome but the rest of the food is also great. My favorite item is the Omelette with a side of that awesome thick and crispy bacon and a large glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Yummy - I am getting hungry now :)

My BF and I successfully tried the Original Pancake House on our second attempt a few weeks ago; our first attempt was thwarted a couple of years ago by an incredible hour long wait on a Saturday morning. On this day, the restaurant was once again packed and the wait was 30 minutes, but since it was such a nice day out, we didn't mind. We ordered two entrees to share- the oddly named "Dutch Baby" and the Spinach & Cheese omelette with Bacon pancakes. This place automatically gets props from me for their creativity with breakfast- apparently, the "Dutch Baby" is simply known as a German pancake at other establishments, but reminded me of a large and tasty piece of french toast that was accented well by the fresh lemon juice and powdered sugar. And who has ever heard of bacon pancakes? I never had until I tried them here. That said, I'm giving the restaurant 3 stars because I felt that the hype didn't live up to the experience. The reason why this place is ALWAYS crowded on the weekends is because the inside of the restaurant is TINY. Furthermore, I was disappointed to discover that there's nothing original about this pancake house because it's part of a national chain. Lastly, the spinach and cheese omelette was successful in making my stomach upset for the rest of the day because it was jam packed with cheese and grease (which may be good for cheese lovers but is definitely bad for those with sensitive GI tracts).

I was super excited to try this place after driving past it a billion times on Bluemound Road. I was sorely disappointed. The wait was really long. It must have been at least 30 minutes. However, I knew there would be a wait before we went, so I'm not holding it against them. I just felt I need to mention it to caution those on a tight schedule. Once inside and seated, the service was very friendly and prompt. They even brought our 14 month old daughter a complimentary plate of banana slices and whipped cream. That was really nice. Again, I can't fault them on the service. The food and their prices are where things get dicey. The food is really so-so. No better than eating at a Denny's or Perkins. Seriously. A pancake is a pancake, no matter how much you charge for it. I thought that the portions were going to be huge to justify the prices, but really they were normal sized servings that you'd get at any breakfast restaurant. We spent $25 on breakfast between two people. Also NO FREE REFILLS ON SODA. Be aware of that before you order, because it doesn't mention that on the menu. I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal and what I got was a tiny 8 oz glass bottle and a cup to pour it in. Keep in mind that a normal can of soda is 12 oz. Overall, good service won't make me return to a restaurant if I feel the prices are a rip off.

This place is over priced and over rated. Not worth the long wait to get in and then another long wait to get your food. I had ordered sausage that tasted like it was rotten and old. The place is located in this quaint little village setting, which is charming and different to look at, but after that it just all goes down hill. And anyway, you are going there for the food, not for the cute outer appearance of the building. Not worth it, you can get better service and better breakfast at less pretentious places.

I had the Dutch baby and it was fantastic! Place was clean and staff was friendly. I would have given it 5 stars but I feel it was slightly overpriced.

I came with my friend thats in her residency for medical school after her shift was over so she needed lots of food and lots of caffeine. Perfect place to fulfill those needs! We ordered to the point where the waitor stopped writing our order and looked at us in amazement. No shame. We got the banana french toast, potatoes with cheese and vegetables, buttermilk pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs. All of that plus coffee, juice, and soda added up to less then $40. Definately a winner. The only negative was parking was limited on a weekday and the soda came in the litle coke bottles (no refills).

I think I am a bit spoiled with the breakfast places in Kenosha, and because of that The Original Pancake House probably gets rated more harshly than it should. Secondly, it's speciality is pancakes, and I am more of an egg breakfast guy. So I guess the whole, don't order fish at a steak joint should apply, don't order eggs at a pancake house. The omelette, while impressively large, really wasn't that good. The potatoes and bacon were quite excellent.

Come here whenever we are in Waukesha. Service is outstanding-friendly doesn't even begin to describe the staff. The pancakes, oh my word! When you do one thing, there's no reason not to do it well. The Original Pancake House has elevated pancakes to perfection. The Dutch Baby and its cousin the Apple Pancake are perfection.

Huge portions, fresh selections, bright decor and natural light, and great service are just a few of the reasons I keep coming back. Perfect for business breakfast meetings or just a great family breakfast. Beware you may have to wait a long time--especially on weekends (Sunday's are the busiest). Some of my favorites include the huge whipped omelettes, fresh squeezed orange juice, thick bacons slices, and of course the pancakes!

I've had better and I've had worse. We went on a Saturday morning, with about a half hour wait but we were able to call in our name so we basically waited on our drive over to the restaurant- that part of it made us very happy. But... service was mediocre and fairly slow. There were four of us and we all ordered something different but none of us was particularly wowed by our food. The potatoes were yummy, the pancakes were decent, but I did not like the way they make omelets at all. One friend's eggs were underdone, and the other friend had only mediocre hash. On the upside- their bacon is excellent. So basically, I'd say stop in and try it when you have time to kill, but go in with low expectations. That way you might not go away disappointed.

I was greeted by the most enthusiastic, happy man, with a handshake. I sat down and looked at the menu. I noticed the omelette came with pancakes and no hashbrowns. I ordered the bacon and cheese omelette. The omelette was huge, with a large amount of cheese and bacon and it was very good. The pancakes were very good as well. It was $10.00 plus tip but I couldn't come close to eating everything. I will definitely stop back on my next trip to the area.

Love the waffles. Blueberry & Apple are my favs. Not a fan of the plain pancakes. Very busy on weekends, good idea to call ahead and get put on the list.

This place is great, it's always busy so don't go if your on a tight schedule. I love going with my family, they have big booths that we can all 5 of us fit in comfortably. The portions are BIG. I ordered the apple pancake and 'oh man!' it was a meal for many. I barely made a dent in it. It was about a 1-2 inch thick pancake bigger than my face with cinnamon and caramelized apple slices baked into it. So moist and delicious but get it to share! They're more than just a pancake house, I've had their fresh fruit crepes...yummy!

  • Laurie Z.

Never a bad meal here. Best bacon in town, not greasy & fatty. It's almost $1 a slice but worth every penny. The Apple Pancake is very good and well worth the wait. Coffee is delicious and they do a good job of watching your cup. Portions are huge.... Be prepared to have leftovers (definately not a bad thing!) The omelette is as big as the plate and about 4 inches thick...not for those with a small appetite. There are times when there's an hour wait--(probably "church rush". )Gazebo and benches outside and barn nearby are nice to wait at . A table of coffee outside is a nice addition this year.

Brought some clients here for breakfast. Ordered a Greek omelet. Not only was the omelet the biggest I have ever seen, but was also delicious and it came with the best pancakes I have ever had. No contest. You need to try this place weather you like pancakes or not.

I tried this place for the first time after driving by it for years and always seeing a full parking lot. It was a Sunday morning and the wait was about a half hour, which was fine because it was nice out. Had it not, I don't think that the amount of people waiting would fit in the indoor waiting area. I had the banana pancakes which was great- I was expecting banana on top and they were baked right it. My friend had the strawberry crepe with fresh fruit and turkey sausage. She loves the crepe but the sausage was dry and expensive. Huge portions and we got our food pretty quick but our waiter seemed annoyed when we asked questions and he spoke quiet enough and the room was loud enough where we couldn't even understand what he was saying anyways. Won't go our of my way to go back, but would be great for kids.

The breakfast at Original Pancake House is very good. We visited on a windy day, and unfortunately the door closers didn't do a real good job of keeping the doors closed while we were waiting. There was a constant stream of people in and out, and the outside door would tend to hang open, making for a cool breeze inside. Our wait wasn't too terribly long, although apparently it gets bad enough that they've made arrangements to queue people somewhere else (if I overheard correctly, a business next door) where they've got a radio intercom to page people. The fresh squeezed orange juice is fantastic, but also about $4 for a large glass. The bacon is great, although over a dollar a strip. The syrups are very good, and the pancakes are done well. The overall atmosphere was pleasant. However, spending $28 on breakfast for two puts it in the very pricey range, and we're not likely to become repeat customers when there are other pancake houses charging less nearer.

My review is biased, because the last (and I mean LAST) time I went there, the guy at the cashier's desk wanted to chat it up with me about how I "look so young". Yes, I get this sometimes, but this guy took it to a new level when he asked if I was "old enough to have a credit card." Seriously? Get a clue, buddy. I'll be (theoretically) entering the 25th grade this year. And, even if you're a old dirtball with no manners, I'm still a paying customer. In addition, while this place is popular with some, it annoys me that they don't take reservations and always seem to forget something we order (eg, side of toast, refill of OJ).

I had family visiting from out of town and they wanted to try this place as it was down the street from their hotel, so we decided to try this place. The service was terrible even though they were not busy. The waitress was more interested in talking with her friends and eating with the rest of the staff instead of serving us. I had to get my own take home box from the back shelf and track down the bill so we could leave. The food was over priced and not worth the wait. The pancakes were over cooked and there was hair in my cousins eggs. It took a while to track someone down to assist and when we showed the staff they acted like we were a bother, took the plate but when they brought new eggs they were cold and looked like the same eggs only without the hair. This was a bad experience all around. I suggest skipping on this place and going somewhere else.

Always happy with OPH, 7.95 for french toast is expensive but what ever you order is always good and they are always busy which says a lot. I would say its the best breakfast place on Bluemound and I have tried them all except GW.

I don't know what these people were thinking, but pancakes were not what I was served when I ordered apple pancake. What I got was some kind of mutant omelet covered in apples and cinnamon. The texture was horrific and jellied and all I could taste was egg. It was also easily an inch thick. I'm sure some people like that, but when I order a pancake I expect it to be possible to cook it in a pan; other wise one ends up with just a mess. I was immensely underwhelmed and couldn't finish more than about 1/5th of my "pancake". If I wanted an overcooked omelet, I'd have ordered one. As it was I was left feeling ill (there's a reason I don't order omelet) and unimpressed. I won't be eating here again, and don't recommend it for anyone who doesn't want their pancake tasting of nothing but eggs. On the other hand, my husband had the buttermilk pancakes and was very happy with them. We also ordered hot tea, and were pleasantly surprised by the selection of teas available - sure, it was only 5 teas, but that's 4 more than most breakfast places in the same price-range will offer. The waiter was nothing special, the wait-time was sort. The atmosphere was nothing special, neither was the seating. It was what I would describe as "nice enough". I thought the experience 2-star, my husband thought it 3-star with our respective meals, so I'm splitting the difference and calling it 2.5. Since the place is nice with just regular pancakes, I'm rounding up.

Awesome food. Don't expect to come in and sit right away. Most times there is a 20min or more wait. Service is always great, considering I am always there during peak times.

Every time we visit Brookfield we stop at the Pancake House. We haven't had a bad meal yet. The omelets, waffles, and pancakes we have tried have all been good. My top choice is the 49'er flapjacks, plate sized and thin. I judge staff attentiveness by my cup of coffee. My cup is hardly ever empty. When it is empty it's not for long. Get there by 8:00 AM on the weekends. The closer to 9:00 you get the larger the crowd gets. The wait can be over half an hour. When we've gotten there at 8 we are seated almost immediately. By the time we leave there are people sitting on benches inside and outside waiting to be seated.

    (4)
  • Linda Lee P.

Average at best. The general atmosphere was nice, with a quaint gazebo in the outside waiting area along with coffee welcoming diners. However, the coffee outside was empty the entire 40 minutes we waited for a table. The food preparation and taste was lacking. The orange juice is the only thing that was fresh, as the fruit used in the pancake topping noticeably from a jar or can. In my opinion, portion size could be sacrificed for a better product. I will not return.

Long wait on a weekend of course, but the two times we've been here...great food and great service! Not greasy spoon. Coffee, belgian waffles and chocolate chip pancakes are great along with portions that were large.

  • Josh L.

every time we're in town we eat here. the bacon is amazing...thick, crispy. fantastic! also, the pancakes are perfect. if you order an omelet beware, they are bigger than your head. so delicious! but absolutely massive. great value though...they use like 12 eggs and a brick of cheese per omelet.

    (5)
  • Andy J.

Classic good breakfast food! The pancakes are delicious here. Bring your appetite because the portions are out of control. I always have a hard time deciding salty or sweet for breakfast. Luckily, if you get an omelet, you also get a side of pancakes! Upgrade them to chocolate chips etc...for a small price. The side of potatoes are seasoned and crisp on the outside. I also love their Chicken Florentine. It's a crepe filled with chicken, spinach, and Hollendaise sauce...YUM! If you come on a weekend, prepare to wait. This location took credit cards, but the one in Madison is CASH only! This is a must visit for folks looking for a good breakfast joint!

Two words: Bacon Pancakes. I've had other items off the menu, but the fluffy, candied bacon bit filled pancakes topped with real maple syrup can't be beat. And even if you don't like bacon(who are you??), there are a LOT of other choices to be had for breakfast. When we arrived, the parking lot was packed full and so was street parking. Normally I'd just drive somewhere else but I drove 25 minutes to get here and found someplace to park in a short time. Knowing this, imagine my surprise when we walked in and were immediately seated. The building is a lot larger inside than it looks like from the street. The inside was bright and clean with nicely dressed waitstaff. As I was supposed to be picking out my order, I noticed empty plates all around - this is a good thing. I had high hopes if everyone was finishing all their food. My husband had the Bacon pancakes and fresh OJ while I ordered a combo with scrambled eggs and plain pancakes. Based on the amount of people constantly filing in and out of the restaurant I thought we'd have to wait a while but the food arrived rather quickly. My eggs were just as fluffy and perfectly cooked as the pancakes. You get a lot of food really. Just an order of pancakes has about 6 or 7 on the plate if I recall, and my order came with 4. They aren't terribly large, so while that may seem like a lot of pancakes, it isn't too hard to polish them all off in a sitting. Everything was great from the moment we arrived until we left. I'm definitely coming back. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is the price. I have had comparable breakfasts elsewhere for less. I just come back here for the large menu selection.

A little pricy, but overall not bad. The Dutch Baby is thick and not as doughy as we're used to. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The omelette was huge! Service was very prompt, and the "house" is cute. Overall would come back, but only if very hungry!

  • Joe M.

Great homemade corned beef hash and eggs, but pricey at 15 bucks for meal and coffee. (1 person) Better price would have gotten 4-5 stars

  • Mike S.

If you want good pancakes and don't mind waiting, this is the place to go! You can try walking in with hopes of immediately getting a table. But if you're able to plan ahead, call in for a reservation to avoid the wait. The Dutch Baby is unbelievable- but takes a little while. The Cherry Crepes will blow your mind! A personal favorite of mine is to get the corned beef hash (which is home made) with the eggs runny and a little hollandaise sauce on top. So Good! This place knows how to cook!

The first few visits here I was incredibly impressed with the selection and taste. Last trip the Dutch baby was a little too think for my tastes. Fyi - it's always always crowded.

Love the piña colada (pineapple & coconut) pancakes with orange syrup. My daughter had the spinach omelet which was so big she couldn't finish. Based on other yelp reviews we tried the bacon and it was perfect. Crisp and flavorful. Only complaint is my coffee cup was not refilled until I asked for it. Otherwise service was good.

I need to go back and try different items but the pancakes were delicious. One thing that that's ringing in my mind are the prices. Maybe it's because I feel that I'm a wise consumer but i paid $2 for a gallon of milk at Sam's and here they want that for a glass. I wouldn't come here everyday or every week but whenever you have extra $$ to blow give this place a try.

  • Whitney N.

Went here for brunch with a group of girls and wow! The food was excellent and the serving sizes are HUGE! If you order an omlette, there's probably no way you'll finish it. Most things are shareable but I did get the brown sugar banana french toast and finished myself and it was delicious. The potatoes are also to die for. I had to force myself to stop eating.

I called ahead to place my order. I was told it come in 15 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes. The lady looked dumbfounded, and said; "it would be another 15 minutes, your order was never turned in." Uh... I'm on lunch, limited time.... This was why I called ahead of time I told her. I felt like it was a scene out of Seinfeld; "NO LUNCH FOR YOU!" She could have recovered herself by offering me a food voucher, but just stared at me as if it were my fault... awkward... As much as I prefer local restaurants, there is a reason chain restaurants are popular. They are always consistent. So, off to Panera I went.

Easily the best breakfast in Milwaukee...be prepared to spend some money... The omelet is out of this world and enough for 2 people... The bacon is excellent... The water even taste good.... No complaints......except for price.

This is the classic breakfast place. The pancakes are awesome but just about everything on the menu is great. Definitely worth the wait. The staff is always polite even if there are difficult people they are dealing with. Service is not slow here it just that it's always packed and there is so much the staff can do. Make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the food here. It is a little loud in here so conversation can be tough but again well worth it.

  • Sadie T.

Still the best pancakes I've ever had. To me, this place can't be beat for four reasons: amazing pancakes that are great every time, fresh fruit all year, fresh squeezed orange juice, and natural syrup. They have a variety of non-pancake options, including french toast, crepes, omelettes, egg dishes, etc. They serve heavy cream with coffee. The fresh squeezed orange juice is awesome. I believe the Downer St. location in Milwaukee has more menu items. But I rarely even give the menu more than a glance because I know I want the fresh fruit pancakes served with whipped cream. I know it's a chain, but they get it right every time. The quality of the ingredients is on-par with any local foodie place, far superior to any other chain. This place (and the one on Downer) remains my favorite breakfast spot. I wish they were open later than 2pm because I'd love to come any time of day.

Good food. Giant portions. Attentive server. two sets of bathrooms. Downstairs one has a baby changer in it. only down side was the wait. My sister-in-law called 30 min ahead to get a table (the earliest they will let you call ahead). They were packed when I arrived at 10 am. It was still a 20 minute wait. People who didn't call ahead were told an hour wait time.

TOPH has an impressive breakfast/brunch selection. The restaurant is good sized, and there was still a short wait on a Saturday afternoon. I had a spinach omelet. I had been here once prior to this time, and I thought the omelet used to be more delicious and larger but I'm not sure. The omelet looked like it was made in a formed mold but was light and fluffy. It was topped with cheese and had cheese inside though a bit uneven depending on the bite. I can't complain too much when it comes to omelets, though, and they have A LOT of omelet options. It also came with pancakes, which were fluffy and tasty. All in all, I would still recommend this place. I just haven't found my fave go-to dish yet. "My name is Jessica, I am an Original Pancake Addict." Yes, it's true. I can't help myself. I've been to 15 different Original Pancakes in 5 states. If there is an Original Pancake within 50 miles (or possibly more) of a place I am going, it is likely that I will be schlepping myself and my family members however far it takes to put my bottom in a seat in front of a stack of fluffy, delicious Original pancakes or crepes. This Original Pancake location is adorbs. It is housed within a historic farmhouse right off of Bluemound. The waiting area is a grassy yard complete with a gazebo. The waiting area is important, because if you show up on a weekend you should be prepared to wait, and wait. We pulled a picnic blanket out of the car and set up camp in the middle of the lawn - snacks and a movie on the iPad, along with some exploring, were just what my little one needed to weather the waiting game on a Saturday morning. Once our table was ready, we were sat beside some large windows at the front of the building. Being that it is in a historic (and therefore small) farmhouse, space is at a premium and so the tables are definitely crammed in there. I had the "Seasonal Fruit Crepes" and got them with fresh strawberries and strawberry syrup. Ah-mazing. There's nothing better than fresh strawberries in summer. They do not dust the crepes with powdered sugar here (some of the other locations do), but this didn't bother me as the strawberries and syrup were plenty sweet enough. The crepes are a nice texture - thin but not too thin, with crispy edges (just how I like them) The fresh strawberries are scattered over the top and the syrup is served in a ramekin to the side along with a dish of fresh whipped cream. You can then combine the elements to create each and every perfect bite :) I also tried the bacon, which was thick cut flavorful goodness, as well as their potatoes that we ordered topped with cheese and these were delicious too! Service: We actually dined at the Original Pancake twice during our visit to Wisconsin - once on a Saturday, once on weekday. I will tell you that the service on Saturday was less than great, just competent. We were able to order and got our food, but there were no niceties and it was obvious that they were anxious for us to be up and out so that they could turn our table. On the other hand, when we came in on a weekday the restaurant was pretty quiet and our server was very attentive and friendly. On both visits it seemed like there were a LOT of host-staff at the front podium and they usually seemed more interested in conversing with one another rather than being friendly and providing a warm welcome to the restaurant. The atmosphere of the farmhouse is unique and apropos, but the close quarters and crowds of people create quite the cacophony when they're busy. That combined with the "hurry up and eat" pressure definitely don't give you the chance to take a breath, relax and enjoy your brunch. I love this place and will return, but recommend making them a week-day stop if you can.

Always busy place. Be prepared to wait especially on weekends. The pancakes are tasty and they have really good chocolate milk. Service can be good or abrupt depends on the server and the day.

The omelette' s are huge.!! My mother had the spinach & cheese omelette. I had the scramble where you pick three toppings. The corned beef hash was amazing.!! The service was impeccable too. Our waitress Felecia was a great too.!!

DO NOT go to The Original Pancake House if you have a severe allergy. One of our dining companions falls into this unfortunate category, and the staff were completely insensitive to it. While the establishment is kind enough to note on their menus that "some pancakes MAY be cooked in peanut oil" - when we asked our server which ones, she said "Oh, well, pretty much all of them, I think." She went to check with the cooks and came back and said. "Maybe the crepes and potatoes are safe." Maybe? Not cool. My friend was clearly embarrassed and decided to go ahead and order crepes and potatoes, but the insensitivity to the issue really bothered me. When someone has an anaphylactic reaction to an ingredient, staff need to be trained to handle it with extra precaution. The food varied. The baked pancake with apples was awesome, as was the fiesta omelet, but my Swedish pancakes were bland and mushy, and the lingonberries were flavorless. But the worst part was that our meal was super uncomfortable because we could tell that our friend was nervous about her food "maybe" being safe the entire time.

This is a favorite breakfast spot whenever the boyfriend and I visit WI. I've been to other locations of this franchise but this is one of the best. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Be prepared to wait a while if you come here on the weekend. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Situated in an old house, it's very comfortable and homey inside. And the servers are always very friendly and accommodating to special requests. My favorite thing to get here is of course the pancakes! I like the dollar cakes - somehow small food tastes better. Their pancakes are always light and fluffy, not too doughy or heavy like some other places. And their bacon is outstanding. It comes 4 strips to an order and these are large, thick-cut awesome slices of bacony goodness. Boyfriend always gets the chocolate chip pancakes, which comes with whipped cream. Like their bacon, their whipped cream is totally awesome. It's thick so it won't dissolve right away and it's sweet but not sugary. It really makes the chocolate chip pancakes extra tasty. Just get ready to take a nap after this place - it's easy to overeat with all this good food!

Great service, food quality depends on what you order - some things come out burnt (the Apple Pancake) or under cooked (runny eggs) but overall calling in ahead for a spot works really well if it is a busier weekend day.

I will start by saying, I chose this place because of Yelp! My sister lives in the area and did not know this place existed. We wanted to try a fun local breakfast place, so I looked on Yelp and this is the place we chose. I am glad too! It was a busy Sunday morning, but they were able to accommodate our large group (15 people). Many of us had planes to catch, so we were worried about the length of time it was going to take. It was very crowded. But, they pleasantly surprised us! They brought the food out quickly and it was all delicious! Beware...it is A LOT of food! I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and it was 5 large pancakes!!! They kept refilling the coffee and even offered "To Go" coffee to us when we were leaving. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. Next time I am in town, I will definitely eat here again!

The kids ordered chocolate chip pancakes. Whoa! They had chocolate chips on them, came with a side of whip cream and then a tiny pitcher of chocolate sauce. They were in love! The coffee was good but questioning whether it was $2.50 good? Their bacon was out of this world good. Pricey but worth it.

Best bacon around! Working man potions of absolutely delicious food! The whole family loves going here. Family atmosphere and very clean.

Blueberry Belgian waffles were average. Wait to get seated was as expected for a Saturday morning (30 min). Waiter never refilled water and gave us a check before we had even finished eating our food. I was disappointed because of a much better experience with this chain at the Campaign, IL location and was expecting the same.

Great meal as usual! The bacon pancakes are a must and the service was great! Well worth the 50 minute wait.

Overrated! We had the corn beef hash with eggs, fresh fruit crepe and fresh squeezed orange juice. We ordered the LARGE OJ but it was as small as our water glass. The juice was served warm. The food was okay but the waiter was lousy! Wouldn't go back. We've been here before but we thought we would try it again. Still not impressed!

45 min lines on morning weekends. No waiting on weekdays. You an spilt all the meals between two-three people. The fruit pancakes feed four kids! Husband got the side of hash with a fried egg on top for a meal.

Used to be a favorite breakfast place, but service and food are nowhere near the quality we had come to expect. Dutch Baby Pancake was served burnt crispy. Waited to have it remade, and got something that was more like a half-inch, gluey cheese wheel with slightly raised edges. Not appetizing at all. Many half hearted 'sorry' comments, but no manager visit and nothing comp'ed to make up for the inconvenience. Did this place change hands? Most likely it will be a while before we go back, since it was so disappointing today. :(

This location is the savior of this franchise! You Wisconsinites don't know how good you got it. Every year I get to spend two days in the great cheese state, and when I stay in Milwaukee, I drive to this place for breakfast. Yes, this place is worth driving 25 miles out of the way for. We were lucky to get the inside scoop of calling ahead to put our name down. They don't do reservations here, but they do a 30 minute call ahead to bypass most of the insane wait. Both times I've come here the wait has been pretty crazy. This time, though, we only waited for 5-10 minutes and were able to be seated. Withstanding the horrible death glares you get from the ravenous patrons still waiting for any kind of a seat, being able to sit down quick was awesome. I get what I always get when I go to OPH-western omelette and a side of bacon. It never changes. My husband insists on getting the eggs Benedict because at this location the amount and quality of potato pancakes you get is awesome. Food is a bit slow to come out, but here I don't even care because I know it's gonna be good. Service is attentive and the restaurant itself is small but clean. The cheese here is delicious (as it should be). Sharp Wisconsin cheddar alllllll day. It's amazing at how much better this place is over any Illinois location. I highly recommend coming here if you even think about visiting any part of Wisconsin.

Very good eating! I stopped here while staying over the weekend in Brookfield and found a gem of a restaurant for breakfast! For the price, you will get a large portion size of what you order. I wound up having an omelette with strawberry pancakes and coffee, and I just couldn't finish the entire meal. The pancakes alone were about the size of the entire plate! This place seems to usually be packed, yet the servers are quite attentive to their customers. My booth table was small, yet I didn't care. The parking outside usually fills up, yet if you don't mind walking, there is additional parking further down to the right. Not sure if this OPH is privately owned or part of their corporate chain. I was impressed so much with this location that I wound up eating at the Scottsdale, AZ location a few months later.

Oh my god. The BEST place for breakfast. The pancakes are great as you'd expect. The bacon is thick cut and crispy. Eggs nice and fluffy. Service is excellent. It's like breakfast heaven!

We've made this our regular weekly Saturday breakfast place, food is always wholesome and tasty, service is professional and pleasant--very well worth the slightly higher price point. My favs are the famous puffed cinnamon apple pancake and the 49ers. Haven't had the egg dishes but they look wonderful as well. Don't skip the thick cut bacon!

Great breakfast with my son... He had the buckwheat pancakes and I had French toast, we shared the most perfect bacon. Great service, great food!

This place is far from a George Webb's, IHOP or Waffle House. This location is very cozy and reminds me of a place that would be located somewhere in Europe. We usually eat here once a year, but this July ate here twice during our annual Milwaukee visit. The first time I ordered the Mediterranean omelet, this was gigantic and could not be finished in one sitting and it was definitely scrumptious. It also came with three buttermilk pancakes and their amazing syrups, truly the best berry sauce I have ever tasted so far. My second visit I had their eggs benedict, the poached eggs were cooked just right, served with their hollandaise sauce and came with a side of their home fried potatoes. These were all very good as well. Instead of the slices of bacon, I swamped them out for their spinach and tomatoes, which is a much healthier choice. The service here of our waiters both times I found to be really top notch and the food was of high quality, with that said those come with a hefty price tag. For the average person, this place might be a tad expensive, for two adult meals, two juices and one child's meal, expect to spend about $40 to $45 with gratuity for breakfast. [Review #192]

I thought I would head out to the suburbs to get breakfast today and get out of the city. The original pancake house looked interesting so off I went. My breakfast was $20.00 and I didn't even get toast or coffee with it. The building was nice looking with a stone chimney and gazebo next to it. The inside was wood all over with yellow walls and green art. It looked clean and shiny for an old place. Service was great and my food came quick. The menu was one sheet with both sides filled with options, not a greek mess. I ordered the sausage with two eggs and potatoes and a side of bacon. Everything looked good, see the pictures. The eggs were sunny side up. The sausage they brag about was juicy and boring, needs more zest. The potatoes were good looking but bland even after adding salt. The bacon was the star here and the best part of my breakfast. It was thick sliced and cooked perfect not too crispy and not soggy. Over all I don't mind paying $20.00 for breakfast if I was wowed but this didn't wow me. I think it's over priced with no toast or Coffey to boot. I should have stuck to the city but my zeal for trying new places bites me at times. Besides that great bacon there was nothing exciting about this breakfast. Price vs taste being the factor of a future visit, I will not go back. There are many great breakfast places for half the price. I thought going to a more expensive place in the suburbs would yield a better breakfast experience but not so.

Perfect place to come if you're in the mood for a heavy breakfast with meals bigger than your face. The weekends get super crowded and you can't make a reservation, so you're often stuck waiting body to body in the cramped area. They do have benches outside which are nice to sit on when warm. However, once you get seated the staff is always nice and the food doesn't take extremely long. The baked apple pancake is like none other. It takes a little while longer, but it's truly magic. I don't even know what else to compare it to...you can hardly call it a pancake because it's the size of a pizza, if not thicker. Also the chocolate chip pancakes are always a must order. Cherry crepes are always a specialty I'm drawn to. Top it off with a side of their corned beef hash- it's the best I've ever had. Mostly corned beef and less potatoes, that's the way to do it. Also their omelettes have this otherworldly fluffiness to them that I've never seen elsewhere. My best advice would be to come in a big group and share everything. The portions are huge, but also if you've gained anything from reading this review you'll know it's impossible to decide. And I've been coming to this place for a decade. Also come early in the morning or early afternoon when it's less busy.

Always wonderful service. Fast service too. The side of bacon is the thick type and is great. The order is big enough for two or three people. The Swedish pancakes with lingonberry is my favorite. Try it with deluxe potatoes or corned beef hash. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. If you like crepes, you won't disappoint with any choice. The cherry jihadis crepes are my favorite. Add a plate of fresh fruit served with fresh made whipped cream. The whipped cream is amazing. All portions are big.

Mmmmm bacon...... This is a phrase I don't think I've ever uttered before this moment. In fact, a couple years back when Epic Meal Time was gaining steam and every other meme generated online was something about bacon, I went on an online rant stating that "bacon is the most overrated food ever" and "it tastes like burnt beef jerky, with the texture of a Communion wafer dipped in canola oil". I had a lot of people tell me this place was good, and honestly when I read the Yelp reviews and most of them revolved around bacon, I was disappointed. Then I pulled up in the parking lot, got a whiff of the fantastic smells spewing out of the small "house" and decided that I was going to eat some bacon. Supposedly this place is a chain, but I've never heard of this place before this year and didn't notice it when I'm occasionally in the Brookfield area. Normally I would take issue with the advertising department, but this place was packed to the gills on a Tuesday at 10:30 AM so what the hell do I know? They got to be doing something right. I found out shortly after sitting down. Simple breakfast- A lot of Bacon Two Eggs Over Easy Three Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Syrup Coffee For the tot- Kid's Meal with More Bacon Scrambled Eggs Whole Wheat Toast with "Homemade" Strawberry Jam Milk The eggs were made perfectly and the buttermilk pancakes were pretty good but not incredible. The bacon, however, is the GREATEST BACON KNOWN TO MAN! Long, thick cut bacon that's perfectly cooked. Not too crumbly, not too greasy. Juicy perfection. Coffee is coffee at most pancake houses but my cup stayed full and most of the time, I wasn't halfway through the mug before it was filled again. The kid's meal was a little large for a kid's meal, but still a bargain at the price when you're bringing home food. I was able to sample the toast with the jam and it was very good. I saw the waitress cart out both the Dutch Baby and the Apple Pancakes and they looked and smelled incredible. I'll be back to try both.

This place is great for breakfast all the way to the early afternoon. The line can be long but it's worth it. We came back twice during the Cadillac show. I had the sausage, eggs and pancakes, our friends had one of the omelets (which was delicious and the size of a hubcap). Bring your appetite, serving sizes are large (my breakfast) to enormous and could feed three people (the omelet). Service was excellent, friendly and accurate both times. The food was great, tasted like it was made from scratch. Perfectly cooked eggs and pancakes, good sausage, everything came out hot. What more could you ask for?

Yum! We were in town visiting some friends and partaking in the State Fair and we decided to hit this place up for breakfast. Glad we did! My omelet was amazeballs. Full of bacon and cheese and HUGE. You can't go wrong with the omelets here! The wait was a little long but it was prime breakfast time on a Sunday morning. But they have a super cute outside area to sit around and wait in.

Dutch baby and the apple pancake are simply heaven. Omlets are big and delicious. Tropical pancakes mouth watering. And coffee here is amazing . Be prepared for long waits on weekends but we'll worth the wait. This is on my top 5 list for breakfast

I'll give this place 3.5 stars as I've dined here plenty of times and most often is my idea when I come in town. The food is hot and fresh, the service is anything but fabulous, rather mediocre if you ask me, and the atmosphere is modern country cute. The German pancake is delish if you don't mind the wait, otherwise their crepes and omelets are a nice treat. Some of crepes are rather sweet, which is nice if you're in the dessert mood for breakfast. The portions are ridiculously huge, so there is no doubt you'll be full when you leave. This isn't the place were you're going to get George Webb's pricing, but then again, the food is far more frufru than what you'd get there.

I am an Over The Road truck driver with my own food critiquing website. I have now come to The Original Pancake House 2 times. The first time to try the Corned Beef & Hash...the second time to take more pics so I can post a glowing review of the Corned Beef & Hash. This is the best Corned Beef & Hash I have ever had!

Five of us were in town for a couple days from New York and asked the folks at our hotel where the best breakfast in town was -- they said "Hands down, The Pancake House." On behalf of all 5 of us, this was one of the best brunches of our lives. More food than we knew what to do with and our excellent waitress brewed a special double-strength pot of coffee for us. The bacon, the pancakes, the potato pancakes, the scramble, oh myyyy goodness, please, send us back to The Original Pancake House.

Mmm... Best bacon in the world! Hands down. You will not be disappointed in the bacon, even at $5 for a side order. Literally, everything I have had here has been delicious. Various pancakes, crepes, eggs, waffles... Very good. They do price pretty highly for breakfast food, and while I realize that some of the specialty things may have higher costs involved, it should not be true across the board. Generally breakfast is a pretty inexpensive meal. That is literally the only negative thing I can say.

Busy, busy, busy! If you want good, fast service get there early!!! I went on Saturday morning at 8am...already packed. My server was very nice and my coffee cup was never less than half full. He did a wonderful job and even gave us to-go cups with coffee because coffee is free refills. However, I could see other servers struggling to keep up. I ordered silver dollar pancakes which were delicious. A little pricey for a breakfast place but I will go back for their signature dishes.

Second best breakfast place around. Only second to the blues egg. Both are very popular so go early or late. They both close about 3 I believe.
