We had the chicken imperial rolls and the crab Rangoon which were both mediocre. Then my daughter had the The Thai Jumping Chicken, and husband had Thai Jumping Scallop both of which had absolutely no flavor. I had the Asian tacos with shrimp which were good. However, the fried rice that came with it was utterly tasteless. Our waiter, Abe, seemed to only care that we ordered quickly and got out. Getting an iced tea refill took a while, but he definitely wanted the whole order placed within minutes of sitting down. This was not my first visit here. I had been here a few times over the years and have never been impressed. The menu used to offer a lot more than it does now. I do agree with other reviews that the place could be a lot cleaner. The booths and tables are sticky and the floor was wet and sticky when we left. Further, this restaurant is not a great deal for what you get. It is pretty pricey. Will not be back!

Extremely poor customer service from waiter and manager. Food was good after waiting forever to get it, but staff needs retraining on customer service. For a Sunday afternoon at 2pm this dining experience should have never taken over 1 hour and 15 minutes. About 30 minutes after ordering, still no appetizer delivered to our table but instead the waiter comes and says to us "what did you order again"? After finally getting the food he was again non existent, never checked back but we waited for even longer yet for the bill and him to settle it. It is also sad when your plate sticks to the table because of how sticky it was. Most tables in the restaurant were not bussed but sat there dirty with no people. Very poor dining experience which is sad because the food was really good.

The main draw here for me is the Market Bar where you can build your own stir fry. I love this because you get exactly what you want from veggies, sauces, and meat. I choose the "ultimate" which included beef, chicken and shrimp. The beef and chicken were tender and flavorful. The shrimp was medium in size and was very good as well. I was able to combine sweet and sour sauce with teriyaki and added in some ginger and cilantro. My veggies were a mix of everything. My wife enjoyed hers as well where she was able to load up on mushrooms, her favorite. Our bill was under $40, wife had a soda to drink and I stuck with water. Service was friendly and quick. Even though we were eating at the Market Bar our server stopped by several times to top off drinks and see if there was anything else we needed. Great dinner after a day of shopping at the mall.

Bad Asian food period. The waitress gives you a bowl is they control how much vege you could put on your plate, small sauce bowl. Overall, they just dump everything together and stir fry it. Didn't taste good. I will not go back.

Love this place!!!! My favorite dish is thé sweet and spicy chicken, my husband and daughter like the kung pao chicken. We also like the pot stickers and crab rangoons. We use to love their spring rolls and dipping sauce but on our last visit they changed something, and they were not as good.

I stopped in on a Sunday around 3:00 and sat at the bar. There were a few families there at the tables, and one other couple at the bar, so I got pretty prompt service. I love the BYO stir fry idea, and I went in with every intention of getting that. I like to turn them into a soup, but I was advised against it, as they just use a vegetable broth. With this raving recommendation, I moved towards the rest of the menu. The bartender pointed out that the new lunch pairing offered a nice mix of two menu items in smaller portions. I went with that - crab rangoons and thai tacos. The rangoons were good, with the wrap was a little thicker - but good. The thai tacos were seriously the star of the show. In place of shells they had the roti bread that I love! I got mine with chicken and it had a refreshing cucumber slaw on top. On the side was a chipotle lime crema that really topped it all off. I ordered a mango margarita which, despite it's girly presentation, was fabulous. You could really taste the tequila in it! I walked out full and satisfied at a great price. I think that there are better places for a BYO stir fry, like BDs or Genghis Khan, but this place seems to have some solid dishes, and I'd come back!

My family & I are always looking for a new place to dine. Tonight we decided to go with Chinese food. We usually go to Fortune, but we are trying to catch a flick; hence, we need a decent Chinese resto close to Marcus Majestic Theater. Upon entering, we were greeted with their friendly host & our waitress equally friendly. We informed our waitress that it is our 1st time & she was very informative what's good & how the BYO stir fry works. It is pretty similar to BD's Mongolian Grill. For appetizer, we got the Crab Rangoon, which I was not too crazy about. I've had better. We also had Five Spice Ribs & it was actually pretty good. My son ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad & he enjoyed it quite well. But, he says that the Ahi Tuna was not as great as he is accustomed to when dining @ Japanese resto. Despite that, he said it was ok. Both my husband & I decided on their BYO stir fry. It was alright for me. It is plenty enough so you'll be satisfied. As for the taste, it's average. Honestly, the sauces needs to have more of a kick cuz it was missing that. In addition, we also ordered chicken fried rice & it was just average. The atmosphere was pleasant & staff including manager are very friendly and accommodated my husband's request. Overall it was just okey for us! Btw, our waitress checked on us & replenished our drinks w/o being asked. She was great!

Twelve noon on a Friday pre Christmas afternoon. Not quite busy yet. Sat there in plain eyesight in the middle of the room and NOT ONE single person acknowledged us the 10+ minutes we waited. Manager walked by twice!!!

My parents go to Stir Crazy and rave about it so I had to give it a try. They do the market bar where you bring your bowl of meat up and choose all your veggies for a stir fry, I went the menu route on my visit. Called ahead and got on the list, arrived and had a drink at the bar, and our table was ready within minutes. When seated our waiter came over and went over the menu with us (since we were newbies I'm guessing) and took his time to explain everything. He was awesome. We tried a couple of apps to start with: Asian lettuce wraps and Ahi Sushimi, both were very good but I had to admit I'm loving the wraps and crave them everyday since we left. For dinner I had a combo plate with some crab ragoons and sesame chicken. Our waiter did tell me that it would be a smaller size portion and I was ok with that since we had apps to begin. Turns out it was the perfect amount and very tasty. The hubby had some spicy noodle dish that he enjoyed as well and my son has sweet & sour chicken and loved it. Overall, great service, nice atmosphere, good food and can't wait to go back.

It was ok. Big on presentation and huge modern "asian" restaurant inside. Essentially more fluff than anything. It's a chain restaurant. I always wondered what this place was, recently me & my daughter found out. As I stated earlier, it's very big and nice and modern inside. Servers are from all walks of life. Modern asian decorations around and you can watch the cooks with their woks and stainless steel. Prices are slightly above your typical Chinese restaurant. About $15-20 per person with out alcohol. Food was ok. Pot stickers to start, they were pretty tasty & the best part. Sweet n spicy chicken was my dish, it's their version of general tso. It was good but very heavy on the sauce, it just became tooo sweet, couldn't finish. No vegetable came with it, that was a bummer. My daughter got the sweet n sour, that was pretty good & tons of vegetables but low on chicken. Good place for a big group, those that don't typically like asian foods may enjoy this. If you want a great tasting asian dish, go to a more traditional place. Service was great tho.

Yes, the staff is very friendly. The food is nothing special. The prices are way too high. Won't be going back.

Yep, this place rocks. We were in a rush and they brought out our food right away, our server was awesome. If your really hungry you can build your own stir fry, and make it massive. Then they have your choice of three hot sauces which alone give this place an extra star. They even have low sodium soy sauce. win

  • Jessica B.

Been here a couple of times. We usually order off the menu and generally enjoy it. I would give it more stars because I feel it's a good value for the food they put out. However, I may not go back after noticing the tables are always sticky. The last time we went, I figured out why. I observed the busboy wiping down the tables with a dry cloth. No spray. No water. No clean, damp rag. With the sticky sauces and the family friendly environment, if you don't clean tables properly, people won't come back-no matter how good the food is. The time we went was NOT busy. There were many empty tables available, so the excuse of being too busy doesn't fly. Please clean your tables!!

Well, I'll try and be optimistic... I have always loved the concept of these types of places, however the food falls short of other places like the fallen Flat Top Grill etc. I suppose if you are in search of the Applebee's of Asian fare this would be it. Pretty mediocre flavor. The service was to match. We tried the stir fry bar and potstickers to start. The potstickers were similar to the type you would make at home .. so not very flavorful... I will blame myself for the lack luster stir fry .... It's difficult to know what sauce to place in the dish when you have no idea what the flavor consists of. Overall I could have had number 1 Chinese and leftovers for a week for the same price. Total bummer. I feel just awful writing a negative review however I feel justified to protect others from making the same mistake.

I ate at the Stir Crazy last night . . . The ahi tuna poke was tasty. I didn't eat the wonton layers though. I also had the sampler platter - thai wings, BBQ wings, chicken pot stickers, vegetable spring rolls, and a noodle dish that included veggies and peanuts. Enjoyed each item on the platter.

Ok food. Very western take on the food. I thought it was a little greasy and a little salty. However the decor is great and it is in a convenient location. The service was a little under trained. Biggest pet peeve is when you as the host to sit you down in a different place and they make a big sigh like it was a big deal in a empty restaurant. Server was fantastic and very attentive. But it is a chain restaurant....what do you expect? Authentic Asian food...??

Hey, not bad! Went out for dinner here with a colleague after a long day, and it hit the spot. I had chicken something or other with fried rice and a strawberry mojito, and both were quite good. But also quite expensive for what they were. Neither of us went through the wok bar, but it was very busy and looked fun, so maybe another time. With the name being Stir Crazy, I probably shouldn't complain about it being a little too loud with too many people running around, but it was a little too loud with too many people running around. It also smelled a little funky. And our server was a little odd. It's super close to my work, so the convenience is nice-- I look forward to stopping by again, preferably for another business date where I don't have to pay.

Preface this review with the Stir Cray we used to eat at in St Louis was Awesome! NOT SO at the Brookfield location. Our greeter was rude, and disinterested. We ordered from the menu, big mistake Our food took forever to be served and my wife's Sesame Chicken tasted "off". Not like any we've had before....... The rice tasted like "instant rice" not what I would have expected at this places prices. Our waitress was very nice. At 3:00am my stomach "told me" and removed any doubts that the food was horrible!! There are far to many other good Asian restaurants in Brookfield/Waukesha/Pewaukee to worry about going back to Stir Crazy again...... Horrible!!!

No photo's the photos on Yelp are accurate to the food presentation. I have been to Stir Crazy many times over the years. About 5-6 years ago was a pretty neat place. This last visit warranted a little commentary. Stopped in on a Sat. night and was surprised that it was pretty dead inside. The build your own stir-fry was pretty popular and a few in line. But could see that Stir Crazy may have lost a step or two in the area of general decor. The inside has not changed really in about 5 years. And I think the tables haven't either-peeling veneer. Which you may ask who cares? Well, when you are at a restaurant clean presentation is number 1. If you feel there is a loss in this area, sort of sits bad for the whole meal. Food was as expected, price is little higher than going to a Hu-Hot or similar stir fry establishment.

I went here for the first time when we were looking for a quick, easy place to eat before going to a movie in the Brookfield area. This, coincidentally, was the last time I will ever be there. I really like the concept of what this is trying to be - but it's overall kind of gross. Ok, actually it's quite gross. Like literally. Gross. If you are ever inclined to eat here sometime, do yourself a favor and look directly above your table. If the light fixture swinging above your head (and food) IS NOT covered with a layer of dust and debris so thick you could write your name in it, well congratulations! You are luckier than me and you may actually be able to complete your dining experience without wanting to gag. On the plus side, however, the hostess podium is totally safe & secure. It was constructed to withstand the force of at least 12 employees leaning on it at all times. If ever there is an earthquake in Brookfield, take cover under the Stir Crazy hostess stand, you'll be a'ight.

This place was average on every single account I can think of. Nothing stuck out except the high price. For an app and 2 main courses and tip, lunch cost almost $50 dollars, which for the taste, was not flying. This is a DYI PF Changs, even with the cost points being the same maybe a little higher. We got a strawberry lemonade which was fantastic. A tofu lattice wrap which was not big enough for the $7 dollar price tag. Then we got two main dishes I cant totally recall, one was a BBQ that was loaded with peppers and the flavor was just generally off putting. I don't see my self stopping here again, not with so many choices so close.

Food was okay. We had a great server, very attentive without hovering. Floors were all sticky, restroom needed attention. Happy hour special only in the bar which was not well advertised and a disappointment after we were seated in the dining room. Also, the stir fry area was very messy and most veggies needed refilling. A total turnoff. We had pot stickers which were great. Crab rangoons were good. Curry noodles were decent, my daughter loved the fried rice. It was busy but we managed to score a booth since I insisted. All in all a good experience but I wished it were cleaner.

Stir Crazy is...adequate. It's pretty much exactly like any of the other "make your own" stir fry chains out there - BD's, Flat Top, Big Bowl...you get the picture. You fill a bowl with veggies and sauce and pick your meat and the guys behind the line whip it up for you. Most of the veggies looked pretty tired, and even though I picked the "Fiery Szechuan" sauce, there really wasn't much flavor. (The waitress kindly provided Sriracha) my main complaint is that I really hate smelling like food and boy, do you reek after eating here even if you sit far away from the grill. On the plus side, we had very good service and the potstickers weren't bad. Be warned: this place attracts large groups with lots of kids and it's extremely noisy no matter when you go. Basically, it's an Applebees with soy sauce.

This place is very good, I always get the sweet and spicy chicken and it is fantastic every time! I have never tried the build your own stir fry because I am always happy with the menu. My only big complaint is that this place is extremely cold in the winter and this is coming from somone who is always hot. My wife has to wear her jacket almost everytime. Overall the food and service is great!

Came here on 2 occasions. The 1st time was packed on a Saturday night & the food was great. The only issue is they text you on your personal phone when your table is ready. Kind of an odd thing to do. What if you don't have a cell phone with you? Or why doesn't this restaurant just get pagers like every other restaurant on the planet? The 2nd time was a Sunday evening & I ordered The big 15 or 13 salad (can't exactly remember the name) it was supposed to have 15 different fruits & vegetables in it. The salad was wilted, brown, their was no fruit (except 3 slices of tomatoes as the "fruit") and those mini corn they throw in with your stir fry. The salad was so disappointing. The sesame vinaigrette dressing was mixed w/mayo. It was gross & totally unappealing. Not worth $ for wilted lettuce. So disgusting!

To be fair. I do not like Chinese food, but the my number one girl got to pick where we went. Not really liking anything on the menu made ordering tough, but I do like sushi rolls. I ordered that with a strawberry lemonade. That was delicious. The sushi rolls were not. I do not consider myself to be a worthy adversary on too much Asian cuisine, but I have bought myself sushi rolls a couple dozen times from various places, including restaurants, grocery stores, and even gas stations. The rolls I had were presented really nice, but the rice was really dry and not sticky at all. Very unflavorful. I would say they fared worse than the ones from the gas station. But I really did not even plan on finding anything I would like so, it was not the worst experience of my life. The place is clean, has a nice staff, and decorated well. My number one girl likes it a lot. If I liked Chinese food, I probably would have liked it too. I just would not come in for sushi. I think sushi is Japanese anyhow??? I have not been in a Chinese restaurant in over 15 years so I did not know what to expect. I tell ya what though- That strawberry lemonade was the bomb-biggity. The bomb-biggity.

I was so curious about Stir Crazy based solely on the name. We decided to go in to get dinner but the Denny's like hostess who grumpily showed us to our table didn't start the night off right. The menu gives you two options: 1) Order off the a la carte menu or 2) make your own entree at the buffet along the back of the restaurant. Our server had not stopped by the table yet and I decided to check out the "make your own" station before he came. The first station is all vegetables, the second station is sauce, the third and final station is protein where the chefs mix your veggies, sauce, and choice of meat in the wok. After looking at the options, I decided that I would probably get exactly what I order at P.F. Chang's. Then, we noticed that the pricing was pretty much the same as P.F. Chang's $14.95 per entree (the food didn't look nearly as good though). When our server finally approached our table, we had already decided just to go to P.F. Chang's instead and told him "thanks but no thanks." He seemed to not care that much and let us walk out the door without another word. So, I didn't actually taste any of the food at Stir Crazy, but I also won't be going back there. If their pricing was significantly lower it might be a good option, but with the same (or near same) pricing as P.F. Chang's, I'll just go there.

DO NOT eat here...if u value your money for a good meal...you will surely be disappointed...not worthy of your patronage nor your time, nor, a 1 star rating. One star implies an inkling of hope...but I had to select a star to post this review.,..don't be fooled it's awful.....drive on by.........

Got a late lunch here and left disappointed. We got the Sesame Chicken and the Thai BBQ Noodles. The noodles were OK, and after asking for some spiciness on the Chicken it arrived with a diced red bell pepper on top. That was pathetic. For starters though we got the pork pot stickers and those were very good. The service was decent although our waitress would have been better placed in a George Webb's at 4AM. Pretty rough for a $$ restaurant in Brookfield. My last complaint is that for entrees costing $14 apiece we didn't get any leftovers. I can go to Emperor of China on Brady, spend the same money (or less), and come home with another meal in a bag.

Your typical Asian franchise that would find in many Midwestern suburbs. It is not 'bad' but certainly far from authentic Chinese or Asian. The clientele were primarily non-Asian and the dinning area is elegant with a touch of P.F. Chang chains. While it is possible to order À la carte, many opted for the made-it-yourself stir fry station. It is difficult not to compare this place to the bigger chain like "Flat Top Grill". There are certainly more variety at Flat Top, offering more sauces, dietary options and ingredients. Rather than being able to mix and max your protein, you would have to settle to one when asked by your servers. I visited during the late lunch time during the weekday and found that place to be a little understaffed. While the service is adequate and attentive, it is a little bizzare that we would have to wave to our particular servers to request another bowl to visit the second stir fry run.

Went for lunch and made the mistake of ordering a Happy Day combo instead of eating from the market bar. I chose Crab Rangoon and Sweet and Spicy Chicken with fried rice. I also added broccoli. The meal arrived quickly but looked like a frozen dinner and tasted even worse. Way to much of an indistinguishable sauce and clearly made with frozen broccoli, which was disappointing since there are fresh vegetables right on the market bar. I just want to brush my teeth and forget about this meal.

NOT ORIGINAL: "Guests get to experience all of the action: chefs cutting and chopping fresh vegetables, flames leaping from the woks, aromas and sounds that make Stir Crazy like no other restaurant." STARTER: Vietnamese Lobster Rolls $8.95. Poor value for the portion size and two small pieces of lobster contained therein. DINNER: I ordered the Market Bar Sirloin Bowl where I got to load up my bowl with fresh vegetables and sauces from a buffet. The wok chef then lit up my creation like a bon fire. I appreciated the choice of brown rice. RDI: All the variables that go into these choice make it nearly impossible for Stir Crazy to publish nutritional information, which is absent from their website. Be cautious if you're sensitive to salt. TMI: After meal hat trick and I'm not talking hockey here folks.

Seriously do not get the shitty reviews. The only thing they have in common is that they all seem to be written by people who are functionally illiterate. The food here is good; definitely do the market bar build your own stir fry. Drinks are great and will have you feeling happy; service is always top notch.

Stir Crazy definitely lived up to its name, full of crazy people. Had a 1 hour wait at 7:00pm on a Sat. Drinks were a bit over priced. The 2 for $30 deal is a pretty good value, so we went for it. Did the buffet stir fry after a long wait for our empty bowls. The pickens were quite good and everything looked fresh. The sauces looked a little nasty tho. My chef served up my food before adding the sauce and I had to give a friendly reminder. He then skimped me on the rice on the second attempt. The food was delicious and there was way too much of it. The meal is rounded out with some banana wontons and ice cream which are quite good if you like banana. Overall, bad service but good food for an okay value.

Went here on a Tuesday for kids eat free special. We all ordered the market bar and was surprised the kids sizes are the same as the adult. Plenty of fresh food. Its a little pricey for what you get, even with the kids eat free promotion. When you think about a small 3oz portion of meat with a bunch of veggies for $13.95...that's a lot! Happy hour drink specials are decent, 50% off.

Although Stir Crazy is a chain restaurant, I find that it is outside the box because you can truly create your own meal and flavor each time you go. They have a Market Bar that allows you to create a fresh wok-style entree that you pick what and how much of each vegetable and sauce you put in the meal. The only thing pre-portioned is the protein and noodle/rice that is in the dish. They also have a full regular menu as well with many great dishes on it. This past time I went, I found that on the menu they have smaller portions of their entrees for under $10. These come with an egg roll and are still very large portions of food. I had enough for dinner and then the remainder for lunch the next day. You also must try the strawberry lemonade. It is made freshly per person and is frothy and almost like a dessert itself. If you do stay for over an hour, you will usually see a kitchen ritual where they clean all the woks with a large fire while banging on a gong. It is very fun to see. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Our group loves this place when we visit for local business needs. This visit wasn't the best but the manager really did attempt to make it right. They even have gluten free options which make me a fan. I will continue to go here because good restaurants will always have a bad day or two. However, the way they respond to this makes the difference if I will return.

In the Brookfield area and don't care about your dining experience? Looking to spend unnecessary money on sub par food just because it's located in Brookfield? Do you judge restaurants based solely on appearance? Too drunk to care? Then Stir Crazy is for you! Whether or not we celebrate that you fall into those categories is another discussion. Stir Crazy is an Asian Fusion restaurant located right by Brookfield Square mall. Upon entering you will be halfheartedly greeted by the host staff. They will go on to explain some things on the menu and then leave you to decide. One thing to note... if you are going in hungry and planning on throwing a bunch of items in a bowl for them to cook up in a wok then just remember that you get a strict amount of cryovac'd meat. You are only choosing the veggies that get fried up with it. If that bothers you then take the additional 10 minutes and drive to Genghis Khan. If you are ordering menu items you'll find appetizers not worth mentioning and some things that may or may not be appealing. Take a good hard look at the menu before going and ask yourself... "Can I get this somewhere else?". The answer is going to be yes. Take some time and investigate other restaurants and go somewhere else. Perhaps you live in Brookfield and appreciate the convenience of a "sit down not-really-Asian-meal". If that's the case then we all know you have the gas money to be more discerning and drive somewhere else. Maybe mom dropped you off at the mall to hang with friends and you wanted a quick bite to eat with your lunch allowance? Buy yourself a nice shirt, get a job and go eat somewhere else. Stir Crazy is like spray painting a dog turd pink. Yeah.... it's pink but it reeks up the joint.

The prices will literally make you faint!! I went here recently upon my girlfriend's request. The decor and style of the restaurant definitely had a Cheesecake Factory-type vibe about it. Real clean, great looking place inside and out. When I opened the menu I nearly had a heart attack though. It seemed like most everything was $15 or more. The server explained how you can either order something or go up and pick out things for them to grill up in a wok. I guess that is a nice option but not necessary something I haven't seen before (various places have hibachi grills in the area). You can customize your meal with this option, but it wasn't enough for me to have to come back again. I honestly can't even remember what I had. Some kind of chicken I think. Yeah.... this place was that memorable. Food was average. Just seemed overpriced for what you get. I expected more. I could get much, much more for my money at a strip mall Chinese takeout place. I'm cheap as hell so maybe the price won't irk you as much as it did for me, who knows.

I'm surprised to see anything under 4-5 stars for this restaurant. Excellent customer service, wonderful, freshly made, healthy food in large portions. We're from San Francisco area, and thought this place would do great out in California - land of great restaurants. We encouraged them to move out and open a location there. Don't overlook this gem. Great food. We come here for business 4 times a year, and look forward to stopping here for as many meals as we can. My only regret is that it can be noisy. But there are some quieter spots inside, and there is always outdoor seating in good weather.

What a disappointing take out lunch. I ordered the Thai Barbecue Shrimp to go. What I got was a half dozen overcooked shrimp, rice, a few viggies and sauce. The shrimp did not have the sauce on them, and parts of them I could barely chew they were so hard. The rice was okay, but it would have been much better if everything was mixed together. For $14, it was definitely not worth it. I gave 2-stars because I have eaten there, and had a decent meal.

My best friend and I love coming here every few weeks for dinner. The food is always amazing but sometimes the service is kind of cruddy. We normally order off the menu, and have yet to be disappointed.

This is a nice place for a small chain and sister restaurant to Flat Top Grill. We dine here about 5-6 times a year. The service is ususally very good but occassionally have an inattentive server. We always order from the menu, but they have a Market Bar. We go to Flat Top when we want the grill experience. Love the dry rub ribs - I get the appetizer with slaw as a meal often, hubby has the Szechwuan Shrimp or Chicken. The Banana Wontons are awesome to share!

Full disclosure: I live in Southern California, where good, authentic Chinese food is easy to come by. I admit that I have high standards. However, I grew up in Minnesota, so I know that, without a doubt, good Chinese food can be found in the midwest. It just can't be found at Stir Crazy. This place serves mediocre, overpriced Americanized "Chinese" food. It's basically a sit down version of a Panda Express, and the food is severely overpriced for its quality. We ate tofu tacos with a Thai bbq sauce, the Blazing Noodles, and the sesame chicken. The food looked really good, but except for the tacos, the rest tasted like fake Chinese food. You know, the stuff you'd find in the freezer section of the grocery store. We really enjoyed the tacos; the tofu was wrapped in flaky, Chinese pancakes (I've actually eaten these in China, and these came pretty close), along with grated cucumber and the Thai BBQ sauce. The cool cucumber was a nice contrast to the sauce, which had a (tiny) bit of a kick. The noodles were okay, hardly blazing and hardly worthy of the 3 flames used to denote its spiciness level in the menu. It was more worthy of a 1/2 flame, or maybe 1, at best. The noodles were so mild that I did not hesitate to eat the hot peppers (which tasted more like bell peppers), something I normally do not dare attempt. I give Stir Crazy credit for accommodating vegetarians. We were able to substitute tofu in any meat dish. Plus, the tofu was well cooked- not mushy at all. It had a good texture, nice and firm, and it stood up to the sauces.

This place was fine. Nothing really stood out. The menu is designed so that you can order a regular dish, or basically, "create your own stir fry". I opted for the dinner sized portion of make your own stir fry. There was a lunch sized, and a larger dinner sized. For a protein, there was an additional charge. The dinner size was $2 more for the base of veggies, sauce and noodles, which was fine. But the cost for the chicken, went from $1 for the lunch sized to $2.75 for the dinner. But I definitely didn't get an extra 175% worth of chicken. As a whole the prices were much more expensive than they should have been. The waitress we had was nice, although at times she felt slightly pushy and scripted. Not really worth your time.

I've been here before and I didn't have my "moment" with Stir Crazy until this evening. The pot stickers were good, but the dipping sauces, one salty and one sweet, made them delicious. The sesame chicken is lightly battered and a little crunchy and was nothing like the typical soggy tempura of many other Asian/Chinese restaurants. The market wok is where you fill a bowl with veggies, then pick a sauce, a meat and the chef stir fries it for you. I have to say, that it was really good. You get one trip through the stir fry line, so plan carefully. They have brown rice, white steamed rice, or veggie fried rice as a side ($2 more). The fried rice was very good. The service was outstanding. I really thoroughly enjoyed the experience and then the bill came... It was a little pricey to me but was worth it. I'll save this one for special occasions.

This is our first time here. Love the veggies selections. Could use more sauces and larger portions of meat. Who would definitely come back.

I ate here for the first time today. I ordered "Teriyaki Chicken," described in the menu as follows: "Grilled chicken breast glazed with teriyaki sauce. Served with stir-fried vegetables and rice." It turned out to be an uncut grilled chicken breast with a few tiny carrot slivers and five small mushroom slices. After our lunch, I pulled up the website and had my brother, with whom I had been eating, read the description. He had a very surprised look on his face and said, "I wouldn't say that had stir-fried vegetables, at least not like I've ever seen them. There were almost no vegetables." And while the culinary definition of a vegetable usually includes mushrooms, biologically, mushrooms are definitely not vegetables. I think the menu should accurately describe what exactly is in the "stir-fried vegetables" and the how many ounces of each are included. I bet no one would order the Teriyaki Chicken if the food were described accurately. You can easily get ten times the vegetables (and still get chicken) if you order the Lunch Market Bar, which is the exact same price as the Teriyaki Chicken. The kitchen area is very noisy. If you sit in the row of tables closest to the kitchen, you will probably have a hard time making conversation over the noise. The prices are quite expensive, especially considering the entrées don't come with any bread/soup/salad like other restaurants with comparable prices.

Even though this is a chain restaurant and I'm usually not this excited about chains I love this place. The make your own stir fry is so delicious and the portion size is huge! It is kind of expensive but it is worth it because of the amount of food you get. You can get all the vegetables you want and there are lots of yummy sauce choices also. I would suggest if you are going to go there to make a reservation, especially on the weekends it can get super crowded. For appetizers I would suggest the crab rangoon- it's delicious!

Was there on Monday, January 13 for the first time. Not too crowded at the lunch hour. Tried the create your own dish. Liked the opportunity to create with the vegetables I wanted. Would do it again.

Their food is great! but, they're supposed to be a 'fresh' asian food restaraunt right? but, they don't serve fresh iced tea! I was told by a shift manager that it's packaged. How silly is that? Even after I complained, the manager stated that there was nothing she / he could do about it. What ever happned to actually serving the customer? I still go there, but, I don't tip anymore and I tell other people about the crappy iced tea.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! This is the last time we will ever go there. When we talked to the manager about our waitress CHER H being extremely rude and not checking up on us once, the hostess just replied with 'oh, she has a big party in the back'. Seriously?! Why give her another table if she can't handle it?!? We have never been so upset.

Mongolian barbeques are good because you get to pick your protein, your vegetables, and your sauces, and you're not stuck with water chestnuts or a sauce that's too spicy. Stir Crazy is way better than a Mongolian barbeque because it combines the good features of the Mongolian barbeque while avoiding the stuff that wrecks it. Allow me to explain: At a Mongolian barbeque, you throw all your veggies and proteins together in the same bowl and the chefs cook it all at the same time, usually on a huge communal flat grill. At Stir Crazy, you only pick out your vegetables and sauces and the chefs put the protein in at the appropriate time. (The boyfriend ordered flank steak, which they began cooking before adding the vegetables. I ordered shrimp, which they put in towards the end. At a normal Mongolian barbeque, all of it would have cooked the same amount of time. Not the best plan). And they cook your meal in an individual wok, which is so much more appetizing. The meal is only one visit to the bar, but you know, that's fine. I had tons of leftovers. We were lucky when we were there-- it was snowing and the restaurant was uncharacteristically slow. I'm totally going back, and when I do, I might try something from the menu!

Went there today for the first time because they sent me a $10 gift card which i thought was very nice :) I got the market bar which was like a unlimited do it yourself type deal for 9.99. I thought it was pretty good, not the best asian I've had but the atmosphere and service was great. I'd probably go back sometime again.

I'll be straight and say that no big-box restaurant chain is going to get high marks from me. The whitewashing of the food and decor always bugs me. But is the food decent? Yes. Do they have vegan options? Yes. The price is a little more than I want to pay, but not horrible. All around probably one of the better options in the area.

I've been here twice and both time the service was terrible. Last night I was here with some girlfriends. We ordered an appetizer to come out BEFORE our food. It sat in the window for at least 10 min. We had to say something to our server. He brought it out WITH our food. The staff, in my experience, seems inattentive at best. The stir fry is decent, but how can you go wrong when you choose your own ingredients?

    (2)
  • Brett S.

The motto here should be "Pay more for less!" My impression is mixed. The food was ok at best. Nothing I would return for on its own merit. The serving size was about half as much as I expected and at twice the price of any comparable place. An evening of drinks an appetizers (which left me hungrier than when I arrived) ran about $90... for two people. On the plus side, the bar waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. Big thumbs up for them. And there is outdoor seating that is very comfortable. Apparently only available for drinks and appetizers, tho.

3 records were set here at stir crazy for myself and my beloved. # 1 Most expensive chinese food we have ever had # 2 Smallest portiions of chinese food we have ever had # 3 Most overly annoying waiter we have ever had. we got the potstickers given 5 of them....the size(i kid u not)of a lemon wedge. sooo tiny. good but tiny. Also the beef and broccoli it came in a bowl no bigger then a cereal bowl and the bowl was not full! maybe a half a cup of food in it for are you ready for this. !#.%)! in none yelling form that translates to 13.50! for a 1/2 cup of food that didnt taste good and was under cooked. GRR Word to the Wise - Chinese Food should be 1- Huge portions plenty for leftovers as you are hungry an hour later! 2- Cheap! hello stop trying to be trendy and get real... ppl love chinese food cuz it is good, cheap and you get alot!

I was intending to go to Flemings for the bar specials but since the line was long, I instead went to Stir Crazy. The very open (think one giant dining room) restaurant wasn't very full; I sat at the bar. Service was ok. The bartender was attentive. My only complaint (but it is a HUGE one) was my dinner arrived 3 minutes after my salad. I hate getting rushed. And they weren't busy so no need to rush me out. 4 of the 14 bar stools were full. I ordered the nutty noodles salad which was ok. The lime shrimp dinner was edible at best. It was supposed to be spicey...not sure where they hid the spice. I'll wait for Fleming's instead next time.

I've been here a couple times now and both times it has been about the same experience--we arrive, wait at the bar and have a couple drinks, are told we cannot transfer our check to our table, sit disgruntled, and eat good food while getting average service wishing that they could do better. That's probably the best that I can sum it up. Food options are fresh and similar to Flap Top and BD's for those that choose to build-your-own. Though a big difference is that unlike the other two, Stir Crazy makes you decide your protein when you order and you get a controlled measured bag of them added to your dish by the cooks. So if you are going there to load up on meats you're definitely at the wrong place. I can't speak for any of the 'menu' food options (as we've done the build-your-own twice) but overall we've enjoyed solid food but just average or below average service.

  • Amy N.

I love it, but I could see myself getting a little bored with this place. I love that they had the low-calorie options. This place is unique for its fresh and make-your-own dishes. It's a fusion of all Asian foods. I enjoyed the pan-seared scallops with veggies, garlic spinach, and brown rice. I also enjoyed the Wok Seared Tuna Sashimi. I took a few bites of my coworker's Lettuce Wrap appetizer, and the Korean BBQ taco wrap - all were pure deliciousness! The venue is large and the decor is hip.

I've been here a few times with coworkers, and have been pretty happy with each meal I've had there. Of the things I've had here, I'd recommend doing the market bar which is basically build your own stir fry. The way it works if you tell the wait staff what kind of protein and rice or noodles you'd like, then go pick out your veggies and sauces. The veggies are always fresh looking and tasting, and they have a good variety of sauces. The protein is okay, it looks like it's prepackaged pieces of chicken or steak or whatever, but it's good. I've had other entrées there including the cashew chicken. I didn't really get what I was expecting. The chicken was a little thin, and the crust was sweet, thick, and crunchy. Simply too high of a crust to chicken ratio. I have had the tilapia also which came with some fresh veggies and a nice semi-spicy sauce. It's not authentic by any means, but it doesn't try to be. For a chain I think it's pretty good and I'll definitely be back.

I liked that I could pick what when into my bowl. I disliked how small my bowl was. I liked the experience of watching my food be prepared right in front of me. I disliked how long it took, during lunch rush it's pretty busy and there are only a few woks and two wok chefs. I liked trying out a new restaurant, Brookfield Square has had a ton of new restaurants pop up in the last few years. I disliked that it was more expensive than most Chinese food. Overall, nothing great. If I'm looking for Chinese I'll go to Emperor's Kitchen.

I did not do the market bar... which I will next time. I had 5 spice ribs and kung pow noodle with chicken. The ribs were decent, nothing special but good enough. The kung pow chicken I am torn on. The spice was just right, the chicken was very good but the noodles were way over cooked. Mushy low mein is not tasty, texture matters in that dish. So I'll try them again as they seasoned it well just the noodle really detracted from the dish overall. Service was a bit slow but the place was hopping. I'll try it again for the build your own stir fry market bar.

I wish I could give it 3.5 stars... My wife and I stopped in for a bite this Sunday afternoon. We had Coronas and split the Crazy PuPu platter. Everything on the platter was enjoyable except the BBQ ribs with hoisin plum sauce, which were extremely salty. Unfortunately there is not much a national chain restaurant can do to fix their pre-packaged sauces. The one thing that made me go with 4 stars instead of 3: big, fresh, juicy lime wedges for our beers.

  • Alison L.

I've been there twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the service was terrible. There was a different person for each aspect of the meal. We had our hostess, someone who took our order, someone who brought our drinks, someone else who brought our food. We never knew who to ask for anything. On top of that, the service was slow. The food wasn't THAT great for all the hassle nor were we thrilled to receive high priced checks at the end of the fiasco. Too much going on.

There seems to be an influx of Asian style chain restaurants lately, maybe not a bad thing, though I like unique locally owned places. Stir Crazy is another in the influx. It reminds me very much of Big Bowl down in Illinois, and their selection is good. It's a menu-or-make-your-own format that has a nice menu, and we wanted to see what they felt they were good at, so we ordered off the menu. The service was nothing that distinguished itself, I could comfortably call it average. We visited during a slower time, and our server was occasionally absent for periods of time. The food was adequate, it's hard to mess up a stir fry too badly, and the spice was nice. I would have given this an average rating, but the overall visit was expensive, and I didn't think that it offered the sort of value that I want to see.

I gave this restaurant two tries. Both times, it failed miserably. The quality of the food is comparable to a Greek family restaurant (including the nasty non-Asian rice). Vegetables were overcooked and bland. The tofu was an abomination. The sauces have no flavor. I just can't believe that a corporate-owned restaurant could have such heinous recipes. On the bright side, they did have bottled sparkling water, but that was about it.

Usually love Stir Crazy, but my most recent experience at this location was subpar to say the least. My wife and I usually do the market bar for dinner. Tonight, there were no mushrooms, tomatos, or celery and this was at 700PM! Anyways, the food was fine, but the service from our waitress, Mel, started off average and progressed to terrible. The place wasn't packed so I can't cut her slack for being burdened with a lot of tables. We ate dinner, and then wanted to get dessert so asked for a dessert menu. We waited about 20 minutes for a dessert menu. Instead of getting a menu she was taking orders from one table, then chose to go to another table to run the 5-6 separate checks they had. We got a menu and then waited an additional 10 minutes more for her to come back to take our order. She then went off and we waited another 15 minutes before she went to grab our desert which was readily waiting at the server's station for some time. I believe she was off in the corner counting her tips, but could be wrong. Anyways, she brought the bill shortly after that. We were finishing dessert and as my spoon picked up the last bite she swooped in and took the dessert plate. This is about 900PM now and my wife and I are the 2nd to last group in the place. People around us had come and left and I think the booth behind us had 2 groups go before we even had a dessert served. Sorry Stir Crazy, but if this is the kind of service you're giving, then I don't expect you to stick around Milwaukee for much longer. Pros: food Cons: service - inattentive and slow

I have eaten here a few times. It started out so great but went downhill. The last time we ate here it was 4:45 pm and the rest was dirty. I had to ask the manager 3 times to clean up the floor and some tables near us. The food was fine but the service was horrible. After we got home we sent a email to the corp office and they said they were sorry and would send us a gift certificate. That was 45 days ago and still no gift certificate. Its really a shame they spent big money on the building and the people running it are killing the business.

Great second experience, took the family. How can you beat "ninja noodle" when you're a 5 year-old boy? I think it was a Thursday, the kids ate free, unexpected and not the reason we went but a nice surprise. That always allows for appetizer or dessert. In a city with a lack of authentic Asian restaurants, the use of fresh ingredients and items cooked to order is nice.

One of the better "make-your-own-stir-fries" I have been to in a long time - eventhough it is a chain. I typically hate every type of chain but this place is definitely an exception. Very nice atmosphere with big tables, plenty of room and quick service and easy to share a conversation. Smaller tables could be more romantic for couples but not a place to bring a first date. They give you a mini-wok where you can fill up all your vegetables (very fresh and plentiful selection) and a seperate cup for sauce. I am used to having to make your own sauce but having pre-conocted sauces works just fine. They have all of the tradional sauces including; thai curry, szechuan, terryaki, sweet and source. I wouldn't consider this a Monogolian BBQ because they make it in a wok, not a flat grill.

I recently got a $30 gift card for Stir Crazy for only $15 and I was really excited to try it. My mom, who doesn't really eat Asian cuisine very often, said she would go with me so I looked up the menu before hand. I also looked at tons of reviews for the place. I got kind of nervous because a lot of reviews for Stir Crazy are bad! I'm a waitress so I expect good service whenever I eat out. Well we had to wait for a table and the restaurant calls your cell phone when it's your turn to be seated. They called my phone I think 3 times after we were already at our table which was kind of annoying but not the end of the world. I ordered the Orange Peel Chicken and my mom ordered a breaded pork dish. I don't know why people say you get very little food for your money, both of our dishes had plenty of food and we're pretty cheap people! I wouldn't eat here all the time because it's about $15 a person, but I can definitely see this as an eatery for special occasions! I think this was the best Orange Chicken I have ever had! Amazing! We also had the ahi tuna and avocado appetizer and the banana wonton dessert. Even though it was pretty busy our waitress did a very good job and answered all of the questions we had for her. I was very pleased with the service!

Pricey for what it is. So so service, wasn't that crowded at 4 pm on a weekday either. Go to the mall for Asian style fast food instead and for a lot less $. The food's nothing that special at all. Why all the fuss here?

My wife and I recently visited the newly opened Stir Crazy, located in the northeast parking lot of Brookfield Square, between Flemings and the Fresh Market. The building itself is well done, similar to another Asian chain, PF Changs. There is both bar seating, regular seating, and outdoor seating available. When arriving, we were told there was a 45 minute wait (7pm on a Friday night). The hostess took our name and cell phone number and said we would be called when our table was available. We went to the mall for about 35 minutes and got the call. The nice thing is that the automated call let us choose from 1) We are in or near the restaurant, 2) We need a bit more time to return, or 3) We didn't wait and wanted to cancel. Since we were at the end of the mall, we chose #2. It said that if we returned within 15 minutes, we would be seated promptly. We walked back, checked in with the hostess and were told it would be just a few minutes. The stream of people coming in was constant and the entire restaurant was packed. One thing we did notice is that there were seats open at the bar the entire time, so for those who don't want to wait, a seat at the U-shaped bar may be a good option for a quick meal. We waited for about 10 minutes and then I got another phone call asking if I was in or near the restaurant, needed more time, or wanted to cancel (strange that we got another call after checking in already). We then checked back in with the hostess and were immediately seated. A few notes about the menu. First, there are plenty of wines by the glass or bottle, quite a few beers, and of course, the requisite specialty drinks. They also have freshly squeezed lemonade and mango or passion fruit spritzers. The normal appetizers appeared, almost as though they had taken a PF Changs menu and made a few tweaks. Their twist on the Asian concept is to bring the "Market Bar" to the game. The Market Bar consists of about 20 vegetables, 7 sauces, and 6 spices (garlic, chili peppers, etc) and your choice of meat where you are given a small bowl to gather up your veggies, sauces, and spices, and then hand them over to a wok chef who stir fries them with your meat choice. At any given time, there was line of folks creating their own stir fry which is a nice option for those who can't find something on the menu or just want to try something different. Strangely, there weren't any prices for the Market Bar on the menu. As an appetizer, we tried the crab rangoon. Yes, I know, it's the most bastardized of dishes, but these were actually quite good with a light wonton wrapper, a good blend of cream cheese and actual lump crab, and a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. For entrees, I had the Blazing Noodles with Chicken. These are described as flat wheat noodles tossed with snap peas, carrots, scallions, fresno peppers and fresh Thai basil in a spicy chili sauce. Overall, a very good dish with the right amount of spice. The basil was somewhat non-existent, and the noodles were a bit greasy, but overall not bad. My wife had the Coconut Curry Vegetables with is carrots, peapods, onions, green beans, red peppers and fresh basil in a slightly spicy red curry sauce, served with shanghai noodles. Here entree was the less satisfying of the two, with a thick, over-spiced curry sauce not letting any of the vegetable flavors come through. A little bit lighter sauce would have made this dish a winner. Service throughout the meal was OK. A few empty water glasses, missing silverware, but the server was friendly overall and did a good job with pacing things. Prices are in the $10-15 range for most entrees. The open dining area made it difficult to have a conversation as sound reverberated around everywhere. Overall, Stir Crazy seems to be a good alternative to the PF Changs of the world with a few differences that could make it stand out from the pack.

I purchased a Groupon to Stir Crazy and like most Groupon users, decided to go a few days before my coupon was set to expire. I've been to Stir Crazy for lunch before and ordered from their lunch special. This time, I opted to try their fresh market bar. Essentially, it's a fresher version of a Mongolian BBQ. However, it's more expensive and you get less control over the amount of protein added to your dish. Nonetheless, the service was great. She was wonderful. I even went back to ask her name, but forgot. If I do remember, I will update my post here (09/13/15). Anyway, so when we arrived, it wasn't terribly full. There were three hostesses standing at the front. There were noticeably empty tables, so we were a bit confused when they told us it was a 15 minute wait. We went to the bar to grab drinks while we waited. The bartender later told us they were understaffed, so that is why there were empty tables - so the servers don't get overwhelmed. That is totally understandable, but it would've been great if the three hostesses standing at the front told us that, so we weren't left wondering why. I ordered a Barefoot Moscato - it was standard. $5 for a bit underpoured glass of cheap wine and my girlfriend ordered the Passion Paradise. She didn't finish her drink. I guess that speaks for itself. So far, the experience has been subpar. I think what really raise it from three to four stars was the great service extended from the server we had. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, really tasty. I got the chicken with lo mein noodles. You pick the protein and type of noodles (or rice) and head to the fresh market bar to throw veggies on there. You also get to add your own sauce combo - they have an array, including Teriyaki, Szechuan, Chinese (what does that mean) and others. I must admit, that metal bowl they gave us to fill didn't look very big, but when it's cooked, there's quite a bit of food. However, is it worth $14? Probably not considering I also had no control over the amount of protein added. My girlfriend got just the vegetables with rice (picture shown) and that was still $12.99. Kind of a rip if you ask me. It reminds me of the prices at PF Changs. Americanized Chinese dishes with inflated prices. Like I said, the fourth star was for the server. She was fun, sweet and ran to bring my purse when I walked out (and forgot it). I probably would come back for the lunch (better deal), but wouldn't go out of my way to come for the dinner portion unless there was another Groupon deal ($15 for $25).

It's a good concept, but the issue that I thought was gonna happen...happened. When you take your wok/bowl full of vegetables and sauces to the chef, they put it aside and wait till they can cook it. My meal wasn't mixed up, but there was a a young lady waiting for her to-go meal and they mixed her stuff with my stuff and the chef tried to give it me. The young lady was on her phone so she didn't even notice until I said it wasn't my stuff and she was like, "oh yeah that's mine, but I didn't order rice." Ordered lettuce wraps for appetizers, but the chicken pieces were big and the fried noodles were long and all over the place so I could barely fit anything into the lettuce. Food was good though, but for a bowl that says $10 on the menu and then comes out to about $17 on your check, it's not worth going back.

They no longer have crab cakes, which were wonderful! Their pork ribs were terrible! Please avoid them. Their crab rangoon is still amazing! The best in town.. The best I have ever tried! I tried another appetizer - crazy shrimp - or something like that.. It was excellent! I have been avoiding main entrées at this place - because I had not enjoyed them in the past.. My recommendation - Avoid the temptation to order entrées and order a lot of apetizers.. You would be happier! Of course, some of their entrées might well be good.. Their "make your own and we cook" items were not to my liking..

This place seems to be going down hill. Staff isn't as friendly as it use to be. Food haven't been the same since this new company have taken over. The awesome GM for the Brookfield is no longer in charge there. I guess he had bigger and better opportunities for him out there. There are deals and promotions offered that doesn't make any sense what so ever. This company sure needs to get back on track like how it use to be. I guess when a new company takes over its either for the better or worst of things. This location seems to be for the worst. I'm sorry stir crazy you need to step up in your game.

I rarely dine at or write reviews about chains, but I had limited options last night in Brookfield on Bluemound Rd and my friend had a buy-one-get-one-free coupon she wanted to use. We were seated fairly quickly and our server did a nice job, although we stayed to talk for a bit afterward, and he never came back to check on us or fill our water glasses after we paid the bill and left a nice tip on the pre-discounted amount. A good server would have done that. My dish was surprisingly much better than I expected. I ordered the Coconut Curry Vegetable dish with chicken ($13.59). It wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, although a couple of bites caught me off guard, but the coconut curry was delicious. It had a rich flavor, without being too rich, and the grilled chicken pieces, veggies, and flat wheat noodles were all cooked perfectly. My friend had the Sweet and Spicy Chicken with crispy fried chicken pieces, served with brown rice. We exchanged bites and enjoyed each others dishes, but I liked my curry dish a bit more. I would dine here again if dining with someone that wanted to go..

Behold the market bar- not only perfect for people who like control over what goes in their meals, but a feat, a competition with gravity itself. Every time I visit stir crazy I must get the market bar (wide flat noodles and tofu is my favorite order) so I can conquer gravity and build the tallest tower of vegetables on the bowl they give you. It's also quite a show when they cook it right in front of you- makes for some unexpected entertainment. The market bar is best the next day after the sauces have had time to soak and if you pile it high like me it's at least 3 meals worth of food. I've also been quite pleased with the blazing noodles, not for the easily faint (it's quite spicy) and the chocolate mousse is a must for dessert!

This used to be a great place to eat. But after many bad experiences over the past year, I'm done going here. Today I placed an order online. It took over 20 minutes to get the order time of pick up confirmation. (It would of been faster to just call) The time of pick up was then was at a set time, about another 20 minutes away. I arrived 10 minutes early from the pick up time and my food was already sitting on the table with the host in the front getting cold. I was then greeted with a host that had no idea how to even read my order or pronounce anything. I was told by him that it all seemed like a foreign language. Why have employees that can't read the menu? As he gave me my food, I had an item missing. I ordered a lunch combo. It comes with egg drop soup, appetizer and entree. I said he forgot it and requested he go get it. He then argued with me that it was not on my order. I told him it comes with all lunch combos and there was no option to select it online. He then told me to check his order screen where my order was for him to see. After bickering back and forth since he was not believing me, I gave up since my food was getting even colder in the meantime as it sat out on the desk still. Why employ employees that don't even know the menu and disagree with the customer? I think I can read the menu correctly. I was then given my food containers without a bag. I had to ask for that, really?! By the time i got back home my appetizer was cold. And unless they changed the way kung pao chicken is made, they forgot to put in the chili peppers. Something always goes wrong every visit. I'm done giving it chances.

I wouldn't know how the food tastes because I went there last night around 9pm, the door was locked The manager (I am hoping) came to the door and told me they decided to close early because they had no customer for an hour. Maybe next time. The sad part was I walked over while it was drizzling! Ummmm, I am a customer! Keep locking your doors early and you will not have doors to open.

This is going to be a long one, folks. I had never heard of this chain before, and we wanted to try something new for lunch. Honestly, I would rather have had McDonald's. The decor was fine, like an upscale Panda Express almost, but it was obviously a gimmicky kind of place. Our server was ok. She did her job, but was just absent enough to be annoying. The manager avoided eye contact as he walked by. As another reviewer mentioned, the tables were disgustingly sticky. It very well could have been the finish, but it was off-putting and made the place feel cheap. One of the cooks in the kitchen kept whistling very loudly so that we could hear it across the restaurant -- not even singing along with the radio, just whistling random shit. We ordered a pot of tea, which the menu proclaimed was 'prepared in a traditional pot at your table'. The tea was neither traditional nor tableside, but rather a tepid pot of sad nonsense. Before even pouring, I noticed that both of our tea cups were dirty, with dishwasher refuse stuck to the inside. I thought we'd gotten green tea on accident instead of black because of how pale it was. It tasted like water from a hot tap had been poured over the leaves and left without thought. Obviously this place is a chain, and tea is not your specialty, but why even offer it if you're going to fuck it up this badly? We went with the Pu Pu Platter and a Salmon Roll so we could sample multiple things. Prices seemed pretty high for the kind of food being served. The salmon roll was served hot, which isn't a problem in itself, but because we didn't eat 8 large pieces of sushi within 5 minutes, we ended up with a lukewarm plate of fish. Unappetizing. Otherwise, it tasted fine. It was the kind of sushi you get when you order from an American chain restaurant. The pickled ginger was cheap, and the wasabi was very dry and a strange texture. My partner thought it might have been old or expired. It's not a sushi bar or even a real Asian restaurant so I suppose that's our fault for ordering sushi at a place like this. The pu pu platter came with 5 things - Potstickers, which were ok but very dry and pretty flavorless. Noodles, which were served cold with veggies and sauce. This was the only part of the dish that I kind of liked. Spring rolls, which were ok, but somewhat greasy. It was nice that they were freshly made and very hot, but the oil was still dripping off of them as if they were not drained properly. Ribs, which were just plain awful. Apparently Stir Crazy thinks that if you don't know how to make traditional Korean barbeque, then you should just drown things in Chinese 5-Spice until you can't taste how bad it is. The meat quality seemed nice, which is unfortunate because all I could taste was ginger and sugar. I felt like I was eating a piece of dried ginger, and this kind of turned my stomach. But what really did me in were the. . . Chicken wings. Absolutely drowning in sweet sauce. This went far beyond any sickly sweet American sauce I'd ever had. Even the frozen sweet and sour chicken in the microwave dinner aisle at Walmart was less upsetting. I told my dining partner "I feel like I'm just drinking Karo corn syrup". I could not even finish one wing, and was sick to my stomach immediately after taking a bite. And to top it all off we were soon joined by a party sitting behind us, one of whom was wearing such bad and stinky cologne that it worsened our sick stomachs. We literally ran out of there.

This place is OK. If our server wasn't good I would have given this a 2 star review. We came here on a slow Thursday night with a party of 10 and were basically the only people. Almost all of us got the build your own stir fry, which is fine. Nothing amazing. I got the pho, which was a mistake. First the people who made my pho mistook it for a stir fry so I got the wrong dish. But no big deal, it happens. The second time around I got a huge bowl of pho, and I mean huge. But quality over quantity people. The pho tasted nothing like pho at all. It was basically a stir fry in a soup. We also got some green tea which was good. But in all honesty, its not that hard to screw up green tea. If you've got no where else to go, I guess this place is cool. But if you've got anywhere else to go, seriously, ANYWHERE ELSE, then go there and save your moolah.

As soon as you walk in, you get a giant waft of what smells like a hardboiled egg fart! That goes away after awhile. The dishes were dirty. They brought us the wrong appetizer but we couldn't eat it because she still hadn't brought silverware or serving spoon to scoop it out. The rice was chewy. I lived in Thailand... rice should not be chewy! The Thai Tacos were okay but the Japanese Steak had about as much meat as a double cheese burger from Mickey D's. Enjoy!

They have a nice happy hour special but they were low staffed. Difficult to get served TT he bar. Then we moved to a dinner table where we had an inattentive guy server. We seemed to bother him asking for stuff. Nonetheless the food tasted good but we both got sick instantly!!! Do they not wash their pots and pans? I had vege n tofu noodles...how can anything go wrong ? Omg we r so uncomfy laying in bed. Never again! #stircrazy #badrestaurantlist #neveragain #disappointed

The big draw here is the Market Bar where you can pick your protein, your rice/noodle, veggies and sauce. Then you hand your meal to the cook and they stir fry everything together in a searing hot wok right in front of you. From everything else I've read you should probably avoid the other menu items, but that's okay because the quality and quantity of the Market Bar is pretty good. My mom and I came here for lunch on a Sunday and the place was about 25% full. It's clean and service was attentive. I had a Market Bar bowl with tofu and rice noodles. I filled it up with lots of veggies and chose to try the Thai Curry sauce. Yum! It was very good. Everything was cooked evenly, and it was done in a matter of minutes. Only suggestion would be to have lunch prices and portions. I noticed they have lunch specials but those are only Monday-Friday. But I've been a fan of this place since they came here and years later I'm still a fan!

I love the build your own stir fry here. However service is pretty hit or miss. Also happy hour is ONLY available in the bar. We were seated and asked about it and server said only available in bar and then just kind of walked away not asking if we would like to move etc.

Wednesday, May 6, 2015 Attempted to eat here this evening. My first and last time here, and I didn't even get to ordering! Why is it that poor restaurant hosts and hostesses always want to put a person eating alone at the bar? I never want to sit at the bar. I am a professional businessman traveling. I want a relaxed meal at a table or booth and to be treated accordingly. So, right off the bat, they had a negative mark. I managed to secure a booth but across from the bar. Fine...until I put my hand on the table. It wasn't clear that my hand was going to come back off the table. Absolutely positively the stickiest and unappetizing table I've ever been seated at. It was absolutely disgusting! If the table is this bad, I figure there is no way I want to eat here, so I get up to leave and decide to mention to the manager why I was leaving and that this was my first time there. While other patrons listened to my explanation the manager argues with me that it was simply the finish on the table. Go back and read the book...the customer is always right...when the customer is wrong, they are still right. I don't believe for a minute it was the finish on the table, but even if it was, that is disgusting, and you either refinish the table or put a table cloth on the table. You don't leave such a table in place, but as I say, it wasn't the finish. It was filthy sticky. Of course the manager could have apologized, and said, let me take you to another table, but nope, he was right and the customer was wrong. Where did customer service go to...oh, wait I found it in a different restaurant just down the street where I ate my dinner and will go back, but Stir Crazy will never see me again!

Ate here on a Sunday night. Very quiet at about 7:15. We eat here often but it has never been this dead. Hope this isn't a bad sign. Food has actually become more consistent although the service is still spotty. Ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. It was delicious. Washed it down with Hot Sake. The Sake was not warm enough which was a bummer. Wait staff was attentive for a change but I wouldn't count on it. Like I said it is hit or miss with the staff. Overall, a decent dining experience. Yes, it is more expensive than Chinese take-out but I don't think that is a fair comparison

A little surprised at how much people like this place. The service was excellent I'll admit, but the food felt like a poorer version of big bowl or pf Chang. I had the orange peel with tofu. The tofu was tasteless. The sauce was OK. I feel at the price point it shouldn't just be OK.

We came here for lunch during a visit to the area in May 2013 on a Tuesday. No problems getting a table and other than hostess, service was great. Food was very good. I had sesame chicken and it was good but asked for the 'two mark' spicey. There are three levels on the menu and it normally comes with no spice. Others at the table had orange chicken labeled 'one mark' on spice and it had more. I resolved the problem with some spicey paste so no harm but would have liked it spicey to begin with as I requested. Only other complaint is the price, about 20-25% more than it should be.

Descriptive phrase: American-ized, suburban Asian sit-down. Stir Crazy, located in the Brookfield Square Mall parking lot, is one of those suburban chains that serves up fine, sometimes interesting, themed food at a reasonable price. I've been here a number of times and have always left satisfied, though not "wowed". They feature a stir-fry bar like many such places, which I've found to be a great deal. After a few times venturing into other parts of the menu I'll probably head back to the stir-fry from now on. Recently I tried the Combo Dinner ($12.99) with a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup paired with Kung Pao Noodles with Chicken. Their Hot and Sour Soup is made with pork, which adds a nice additional flavor. My bowl this time had a giant partially-cooked egg yolk in it that looked like a chicken gizzard and was very unappetizing. Otherwise it was a nicely-hot soup. The Kung Pao Noodles with Chicken was a little small, especially compared to the soup bowl, and was spicy without the flavor. I wouldn't order it again. Stir Crazy does some Asian-inspired food well and others not so much. Again, I'd stick with their stir-fry.

Two stars due to how filthy the stir fry bar was! Food everywhere, sauce was spilled all over the line, fixings on floor. Absolutely gross! Our server was attentive and nice. We got two appetizers, the tuna poke salad which was really good and visually appealing. Asian calamari was presented nicely but was overly breaded and had no taste. Thai tacos are also good here. If you go I would not get the stir fry bar and just stick to the regular menu.

Who can resist a build-your-own anything?! Sundaes, burritos...and now stir-fry! If you're into customizing your meal this is the way to go. I ordered the chicken with the Shanghai wheat noodles to start and then headed on up to load up on veggies and sauces. Tip: Cram as many veggies in as you can! Once they cook down you may find yourself wanting more - I was admittedly a little on the sparse side since this was my first trip. There are about 6-7 sauces to choose from. I chose the peanut sauce which, note to self, you do not want to fill up your entire sauce dish with because then your dish will be SUPER peanuty! I'd say 1/2 to 3/4 full would do the trick. Then hand over your dish and watch the wok magic with epic flames take place! The staff at this location was also very friendly. They explained the menu in full since this was my first visit and checked in regularly. I was happy and full at the end of the meal. Side note: While I was full, my friend was interested in a second helping. Apparently you used to be able to go back up a second time when you ordered the make-you-own stir-fry, but this is no longer an offering.

The food is good, but the portions are ridiculously small. Beware when meat come in premeasured packages! And unlike most chain and independent restaurants of this type, other are all you can eat. As for the flavor, good.

My wife and I have always done the market bar, which is very easy. The food is always very good and we always have lots of leftovers. The prices are decent given the proportions. Always satisfied with our service and food.

Yep, this place rocks. We were in a rush and they brought out our food right away, our server was awesome. If your really hungry you can build your own stir fry, and make it massive. Then they have your choice of three hot sauces which alone give this place an extra star. They even have low sodium soy sauce. win

Instantly coming from Fun World I saw the name "Stir Crazy" I knew it would be the perfect place to go after work. The next day I went!!!!!!!!

    (3)

Yep, this place rocks. We were in a rush and they brought out our food right away, our server was awesome. If your really hungry you can build your own stir fry, and make it massive. Then they have your choice of three hot sauces which alone give this place an extra star. They even have low sodium soy sauce. win

My wife and I have always done the market bar, which is very easy. The food is always very good and we always have lots of leftovers. The prices are decent given the proportions. Always satisfied with our service and food.

Surprising good for a chain like restaurant. My 5 year old loves the food here. Every time we have gone here the service has been good. The specious restaurant allows for prompt seating

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
