I've been here a total of 4 times and each time I try something new. EVERYTHING is outstanding I am never disappointed. The service is fantastic and welcoming, the food comes in a respectable time and is plated perfectly. The constantly changing seasonal veggie sides are to die for and the dessert is phenomenal. Try the Pork Osso Bucco, Amish Fried Chicken, Mac n Cheese, the Meatloaf, and the braise Pork Ribs. Enjoy!!

The food here is consistently good, but not necessarily memorable. What draws me to Parkside 23 is the friendly service & great conversations I've had with friends while sharing a meal here. I'm sure the tasty craft cocktails paved the way for these convos to happen! ;) I particularly enjoyed the various flavored Mojitos, and I'm not a big fan of Mojitos in general. In terms of fare, I enjoyed the flatbreads & macaroni & cheese. The Mac was the right consistency & very creamy. Yum!

Oh hello, Parkside 23. Don't mind me; I'll just be over here drooling on the menu you've provided me. Yelp led us to PS23 for a recent celebration with friends and I couldn't have been more pleased. SCENE: We didn't have a reservation. Having never been out before, we called about 30 minutes out to determine if there'd be room for us...unfortunately the call ahead was for large parties (larger than our four). No big deal; we wanted to try it and figured the food was worth the wait. Upon arriving, we were directed to a table in the bar area and were seated right away. Nice! STARTERS: Drinks and the Caprese Flatbread. Yum city -- oven-dried Roma tomatoes (my favorite kind of tomato) and a basil pesto made my taste buds sing. ENTREES: The cedar-plank salmon (5 stars) was out of sight. Tender and delicious...accompanied by a sweet potato/parsnip hash that had me thinking I'd commit multiple crimes for the opportunity to enjoy again. My dining partners enjoyed the seared tenderloin (5 stars), mac and cheese (4 stars) and a combo of the pork fries (3.5 stars) and Woodstone roasted shrimp (5 stars). The pork fries were somewhat of a letdown -- very mushy overall, but they flavor of the pork and beer cheese was a redeemer. SERVICE: Friendly, but lost 1/2 star for lack of consistency. Drink glasses sat empty without a check-in for quite some time. Our server did explain she was new, so I chalk this up to inexperience. This would NOT keep me from dining here again. OVERALL: 4.5 stars. Would definitely return for one of their nightly specials (burger and beer, etc.). Just a phenomenal meal and experience all-around. Easily in my Top 10 for great meals in the Milwaukee/near-Milwaukee area.

Comfy, cozy, delicious goodness! Glad I finally made my trip to this farm-to-table destination. The space was warm and inviting and a jazz musician played while we ate (every Tuesday is Jazz Tuesday & they also have specials on other nights of the week including a burger and a beer deal on Mondays). Our table ordered the comfort food classics: pot pie and meatloaf. We both liked our dishes a lot - the pot pie crust was flakey and buttery, and the meatloaf was served with a twist as two meatloaf meatballs atop a fancy heap of mashed potatoes. One of my favorite parts was the seasonal sautéed vegetables they I ordered as my side - as a rule anything sitting in a pile of garlic butter is delicious! I also have to say the service was fantastic, super personable and informative for first-timers like ourselves. Since their menu is seasonal I'd love to go back in the winter and see what they cook up next!

Pork dries, yum! Flatbread, delicious! Brownie dessert, decadent. While visiting a friend in the area, she suggested this lovely place because she had heard great things. I was a little annoyed with the call ahead seating but once we had our table all of the troubles were gone. Our waitress was beyond great and that really goes a long way. We shared all three courses which left me quite content. I would suggest anything we got, especially the fries and dessert! I would suggest PS23 to anyone and will be back again!

Once again we made a reservation for the patio at 4:30pm for a 7:00pm dinner. When we arrived they tell us it will be 40 minutes more! Why make a reservation PS 23?

I'd heard about this place. I'd heard it was uppity. I'd heard it was outrageously pricey. I'd heard it was delicious. Now I'm not one to hold some uppity against some tasty food. I'm also on board with paying top dollar for something fantastic. Challenge accepted. I had the good fortune of visiting here for a weekday lunch. It's a ways out in the burbs, but a number of steps above most chain restaurants readily available out there. The décor is unexpected, but very well done, and then juxtaposed against mason jar water glasses. The staff at the door were friendly and knowledgeable and surprisingly underdressed for as uppity as this place is supposed to be. There was a fair amount of branding happening...from the signs on the wall in the bar, the signs on the host stand, the menu, the table toppers. Now, I know most restaurants try to do branding...but it's usually some colors and a font. They're actually trying with the branding and multiple logos and they're doing it well. Some of it even amused me....in a good way. We had a medium sized group and were seated quickly and our server was very special. She was friendly and knew her stuff - beyond just the menu, but where things came from and how that farm was different from this other farm and what it is really good food that turns people on. Her service skills were also top notch - knowing just when to show up and interject...or not. She also double checked if we had any food restrictions, which is a very nice touch. Let's talk about the food. Actually, no, let's just go get some of their food and let it do the talking. It speaks for itself. Ok, ok, I get that you need more detail. I had the Crunch Monster....a play on a the croque monsieur, a delectable (and hard to get right unless you are French) open faced sandwich. It was really very excellent. It came with house made chips which were fine, but needed salt. Others at the table had a gorgeous looking beet salad (jealous!), two of the three flatbreads, the pork roast, the shrimp, and the macaroni and cheese. Everyone had glowing things to say about everything they ate. I would have loved to try all of them but it was a work thing, and they frown on food stealing up there at corporate. I guess I'll just have to come back. I mentioned it was a work thing...which probably made the whole experience that much better since I didn't pay for it. Expense account, baby! The menu is organized by price....$7-$12, $13-$18, and $19+. Which would be great, and even make sense....if the menu descriptions included what they truly were. If it's a sandwich, just say its a sandwich. Or a salad. Or if it's intended to be an appetizer, then just make a note, and offer a meal sized option as well. Is it pricey? Yes. It is outrageous? No. I've spent far more on far less and far less tasty. It would appear that they have some good happy hour and weekday specials, although I was not able to partake. I was also told by a third party that during the summer, you can reserve a table in the garden which sounds like a perfect rom-com date setting, but you know as well as I do that there's only about 4 days in Milwaukee that are the perfect temperature and the yellow jackets haven't all gotten their flying licenses yet. Yet, I'd be in on it, at least once. Speaking of the garden...this is a great addition to the Milwaukee area food scene. Many restaurants are making significant efforts to buy local which is great. Parkside takes it one step further by having their own garden on property. Well, it looks like a garden to me, but the server called it a farm and she may have said it was 10,000 square feet, which does not jive with my mental calculations about the garden I can see next to the parking lot. Anyway....she also mentioned it was the only restaurant in WI with it's own farm. That's just cool, if it's true. I would have sworn there was at least one farm with it's own restaurant but perhaps those don't count because they are a farm first? Either way, I like the idea, and so far, I really like the execution. Great job Parkside23. In summary: Uppity? Actually, it didn't really strike me as uppity at all. Maybe a little rich hipster, but it didn't bother me. Outrageously pricey? On the verge, but not at all out of line for the amount and quality of what we got. Delicious? As many gold stars as it's possible to give.

Yay farm to table! Yay locally sourced! Showed up around 8:00pm on a Thursday night and they were full. No wait, but there were several large parties in the dining room and an event in the outside seating area. We were a little disappointed not to be able to sit outside on a gorgeous evening, but I guess the rehearsal dinner (?) people could have it.... On a side-note, it was the absolutely perfect setting for a small dinner party like this. Sunset in the background and the old cemetery across the street even added some romance to it all. First impressions: Oh, how cute! (Walks inside) Oh. How strange. Decor is like a mashup of classic diner semi-circles and Old Country Buffet carpet. Lights are super dim. BUT... The food was awesome. We both opted for the braised short rib which was super tender and the sauce was rich, but not overwhelming. The creamed corn was amazing. Everyone here raves about the creamed corn and you will, too. I wish we had ordered a side of veggies but it was entirely too much food. Next time we go, we'll get 2 smalls and an entree to share. The service was friendly enough, but amateurish, like it was his first job as a server. The water glasses are small jelly glasses and we had to ask for them to be filled constantly. Our server did come by to check on us pretty frequently so we took those opportunities to remind him. And then he'd come over with a nearly empty carafe, walk away to get another almost empty carafe, and so on. That said, I'm looking forward to going back, trying some other dishes and sitting outside by the birds and old headstones.

Loved PS23. So glad that Yelp exists - because without browsing these reviews, I never would have thought to try the creamed corn. But it was absolutely amazing. The leeks, poblanos and bacon lent richness, spiciness, and saltiness to the sweet corn for a fantastically balanced dish. My brother and I shared a few other dishes, and nothing disappointed - the woodstone roasted shrimp was some of the most delicious that I've ever had, with a great char on the outside of perfectly tender bites. The chicken dumpling soup was good, but not out of this world - simple, comforting, no complaints. The pretzel crusted veal was another hit for us. The pretzel crust has definitely improved since Rick R's review, because it had a great, satisfying crunch to it, which is great because all restaurant's should probably always be listening to Rick R :) The veal was tender and the pan sauce was rich and delicious. For dessert, if it's available - get the bread pudding. It was wonderful. The pecans gave a great texture contrast, the cherries were tart and sweet, and the ice cream was cool and creamy. We also had a chocolate-based dessert that was decent, but not as awesome. Bread pudding for the win. My only complaint would be that I think the drink menu is priced a little high. In the $8-10 range, I would hope for a menu that boasted something more crafted than basic mixers. But I'm new to the Brookfield area, maybe that's just how they roll out there ;)

Found this place through Yelp - thanks reviewers! I came during happy hour and had the chicken pot pie with greens and two craft beers. The tab was totally reasonable and the food was ah-maz-ing. The pot pie had pulled rotisserie chicken which I think made the dish. It was clearly freshly made and I couldn't stop scarfing it even though it was burning my mouth! I appreciated the diverse craft beer menu and took the suggestions from the bartenders; all delish. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Especially on Tuesdays when they have love music!

I went here a last week as part of a work dinner and was blown away. I walked into the restaurant, and I was like, "Brookfield has places like these?!" For the record, most of the places that I go to when I am in the office are national chain restaurants which seems to be the majority of restaurants in the area. Parkside 23 is a "Farm to Table" restaurant with an actual farm. I had a taste of Wisconsin from the creamed corn, pork fries (I did not try, but they were ordered for the table - got rave reviews), and flatbreads. For my main course, I had the meatloaf. The ingredients were beyond fresh and the menu was well thought out. It really took me back to a traditional meatloaf with its ketchup-like glaze and mashed potatoes. I was too stuffed for dessert, but they had Sprecher's ice cream floats. I would have totally had one if I did not feel like I would explode if I ate a wafer-thin mint. The service was good even though our server was a bit slow on refilling drinks. This was probably my favorite stop on my week-long odyssey in Brookfield, WI.

Parkside 23 is incredible. I went here with my sister, so my review may slightly mimick hers. I will do my best to tailor my review to my individual experience as best as I can. The location is beautiful and easily accessible. The parking lot can be kind of a clusterf*ck, I would recommend going off hours to avoid some serious frustration here. The outdoor seating is very nice, if you are not unsettled by the view of the cemetery across the street (which I am not :) ). The staff was wonderful. Very polite and well groomed individuals that seemed genuinely happy to see you. The food was epic. The creamed corn truly is one of a kind. It has this creamy, soft texture and a ridiculously well crafted spice. It hits you and it's instantly warm and flavorful. The spice is bold but it never burns. It's really very well done. The woodstone roasted shrimp was absolutely delicious. A perfectly unique flavor, extraordinarily tender, and in perfect portions. I will definitely be ordering this again. Like my sister said, the chicken dumpling soup was indeed very good, but it wasn't special. It would be an excellent, homey dish to have on a cold evening The pretzel crusted veal was my favorite dish for the evening, mostly because I'm on a pretzel bun kick so this dish played right into my handicap. Dessert We had a chocolate/toffee custard dessert that was honestly, a little unsettling. It was WAY over salted, to the point of being inedible. The toffee came in a giant chunk instead of a crumble as I'd hoped. I made the mistake of dragging a bit of my ice cream through the caramel glaze they spread over the plate and was shocked by how salty it was. The bread pudding however was absolutely top notch and saved the entire dessert experience.

Came here on a Monday night. Many people eating outside on the patio, but it was a bit cool so went inside and were seated in a big booth in the main restaurant. Very good service and the waitress knew all about the fresh veggies they grow out back. My wife wanted a combination of various veggies and she was more than happy to put together a veggie plate for her main course. She loved it! Fresh and well prepared. I had the Pot pie....best I ever had. Shallow dish, not that deep thick type where everything was soggy. This was super crisp and light and fresh. Chicken was tender had flavor. I would come back for this, its the right way to do a pot pie.

Parkside 23 had some highs and lows when I visited this past week. Highs: Love the sustainability angle Reasonable prices Seasonal flatbread - wild mushrooms - very tasty! Creamed corn side - savory and delicious Lows: Our server was friendly but not very knowledgable. He had trouble explaining the specials Dishes were well cooked but some of them were too lightly seasoned to the point of being bland (lamb shank and risotto was tender and creamy but flavorless. Beet Salad had tasty beets but no vinaigrette dressing that tied it all together We arrived early to have drinks before our reservation. We were told our table was ready so we closed out at the bar and went to the host stand. When we got there she said we missed our window and the 6 of us with drinks had to stand around for 10 minutes waiting for the next table despite having a reservation! All while seeing multiple empty tables in the dining room.... It was a pleasant dining experience overall, just not an absolute must try.

18 unique regional micro brews (all excellent - something for every taste) plus fantastic food at a reasonable price means many repeat visits! Best cedar-plank salmon I've ever had - and I travel a lot!

I'm not sure if I can give enough praise I this restaurant- my wife and I went there because we were running errands in the area and wanted to try a new place. The atmosphere is pretty casual, but also fun. The crowd is primarily 30-50 year old but that didn't stop us. We started off our meal with the BBQ-Mango Flatbread and my wife an I each got the Stuffed Pepper and Meatloaf, respectively. The flatbread had the perfect amount of sweet, tang, a little heat, and fresh flavor brought in by the cilantro and lime. My meatloaf was great- the mashed potatoes were so smooth and creamy and flavorful, the meatloaf was just like my grandmother used to make (but better, sorry Grandma!), and the beans and carrots were so fresh I felt like I had just picked them from my garden. I can't speak much for my wife's pepper, but she had all good things to say. All of that, coupled with a very friendly wait staff and a pretty good price makes for a guaranteed return visit.

I was back a few weeks ago and like it a lot more. I had the short rib sandwich and it might very well have been in my top 10 sandwiches ever. I also found the mac & cheese to be very good and don't think I had it the first time. It was a very pleasant surprise. When I heard we were going there again, my reaction was less than positive, but being a glass half-full guy (as long as it's booze) I figured "what the hell, this will be fine"... my expectations were exceeded, as it was pretty damn good. Get that short rib sandwich and some mac & cheese, and you'll be a happy person.

A few of my friends recommended this place to me so when I finally had a free night, I had to check it out. It's a very "Brookfield" restaurant. Everything you would expect. Uppity decor, teenagers working their summer job, a bit of an older crowd. We were seated almost immediately on a Friday night which I thought was impressive. All the food came to the table in a timely fashion and our server was attentive but not obnoxious. I got the peach sangria to start. Super delicious and everything I want in a sangria. I ordered the creamed corn and the smaller plate of dark meat rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes. Creamed corn was fantastic - bit on the sweet side but delicious nonetheless. Chicken was under rotisseried. (yes I made that word up). It was cooked through but not cooked enough to get that fall off the bone juicy texture that you would expect. My husband got the short ribs. He was in love. I sneaked a bite and completely agree. Fork tender and the sides that come with them complement the meat perfectly. For dessert we got the paradise 23. If you like chocolate, pudding and cake - this dessert is for you. Perfect end to a great meal. Well done Parkside 23 - we will be back with our friends.

Here's a question - Would you rather: Order spectacular food from a menu printed on 8.5x11" OfficeMax paper that was obviously typed in Microsoft Word by somebody with poor grammar and limited vocabulary... OR Order mediocre food from a menu that is like a piece of art all by itself... With every mouthwatering adjective your hunger grows; the typeface speaks to both your responsible nature and your inner child... Then the food arrives and it's just OK? The latter is what you can expect from PS23. Every time I eat there, a small part of me feels duped before I leave. I can't help but wonder if the money spent on marketing their food actually went into making great food... No. I can't think that way. Great food doesn't have to be costly. Here's the deal, I want a restaurant to live up to, or exceed, the expectations it sets for itself. Places that can achieve this will always be busy and they don't require their decor and menus to sell the food. Take, for instance, the Yelp-famous Shah Jee's, in the basement of an office building, cash only, dry-erase menu if my memory serves me... You get what I'm saying, right? If your taste buds aren't able to distinguish a Big Mac from a Sobelman's burger, this might be the place for you. Me? I can do better at home.

Farm to table may not be unique any longer, but this place does it right. Has an interesting menu that organizes items by price range, which can be fun to peruse. Menu changes from time to time, and makes use of the ingredients from the garden out back. Every meal has been good. The only setback is that sometimes the quantity is a little underwhelming for the price.

A nice hidden gem off the beaten path ! They have there menu separated out into price categories. They have $8-$12 and $13-$18 . They also have a sides menu and a seasonal menu .Their drink menu is quite extensive with a large amount of craft beer . Depending on your mood you can order as shared plates or individual meals. I've gone twice and ordered it both ways ( when me and my boyfriend tried it out we ordered a bunch to share and we had a ton of leftovers ). My personal suggestions are the pork fries , seared tenderloin , pot pie and the meatloaf! I love this place because their all about trying to keep their ingredients local , with the whole farm to table method ! Their meats are hormone and antibiotics free ! They have a nice patio as well I suggest taking advantage of in the summer .

First time here and didn't know what to expect since the menu and description said "farm to table," which always sounds nice in my opinion. Ambiance is great from the outside, looks like a clean and beautiful house in the country. The inside is a little supper club ish, but nothing to turn us away. Sat at the bar and had great service from Carter and Taylor. Ordered the Cobb salad, creamed corn, braised ragout, and chicken dumpling soup. The creamed corn was awesome- came out hot and the flavor was great. The braised ragout came out hot as well, which I love, but was missing something. Still good, nothing I would go out of my way to order again. Dumplings in the soup were made from Scratch which I appreciated, and the Cobb salad was served a little "supper club" or "cafeteria" style you could say. Don't be afraid to add some flare here! Or maybe even chop it up. No one wants to take a bite of a piece of lettuce that's as big as your head. Drinks were made strong which we appreciate, always. However- the wine list is less than mediocre. Someone who doesn't drink could probably pick a better wine list. Our bartender said it was intentional; apparently Parkside 23 and Eddie Martinis used to be associated, and Martinis had a better wine list, and Parkside had a better beer list. (Which is true, their beer list is good.). But they have split their partnership with that company, so why not upgrade your wine list? Just a few thoughts. :) I'd come back for patio drinks any day.

My husband and I made reservations for the Farm Supper months ago. It was way worth the wait. We did end up at the not so fun table but the staff made up for that. The meal was fabulous and fresh. From the chef to the general manager they were so amazing to us. We felt like we made some new great friends. That was our reason for doing this in the first place. We are going to be regulars now for sure. Thanks for everything Parkside 23 staff you were so amazing. See you guys very soon.

Parkside 23 has quickly become one of my favorite area restaurants! After visiting for the first time with a friend earlier this year, we have been back many times to check out new items from the ever changing menu. The pork fries are an absolute must! They offer two menus, one of which is constant, the other includes new seasonal items. The outdoor seating is very nice and the waitstaff is always attentive and extremely knowledgeable with menu offerings. 5 stars!

Farm to table... Farm and table* I'm a lover of food so 4 stars was difficult for me in that the food and service was great. Ok I actually just changed this to 5. Great service, great food and I can't wait to visit late spring, summer, and fall. Their menu is reasonably priced, locally sourced, and there's so many options to chose from. I was hoping more of a rustic 'Farm to Table' atmosphere but the carpeting and decor was that more of an Italian restaurant. Beet salad - fantastic. Recommendations, they should add a tad more goat cheese, I couldn't get enough. Beer Battered Fish Fry - crispy, light, fresh, and fantastic. I won't go to say this is a fish fry destination, it's not but if you're there on a Friday you won't be disappointed. **As a plus the grilled vegetables were some of the better I've had in a while... Woodstone Fired Pork Roast - tender, medium, lathered in sauce and recommended by me. Add a little bacon a reduction of tomato and onion sauce over polenta and enjoy the perfect amount of food. Would I go back...? Yes. Will I........ Absolutely!

Drinks? Above average with a very good happy hour. You can get very good drinks for a reasonable bar price. This is the main reason to visit. Food? Meh. Wisconsin heavy emphasizing quantity over quality? Service? Spotty. As someone who has eaten and drank (bar) here more than 30 times (mainly for drinks), the servers are highly inconsistent. Some are outstanding. Some can not be bothered to attend to you. Recently sat at bar for over 10 minutes (timed it) without service. And it wasn't busy. Atmosphere? In the dining room, the acoustics are loud. Difficult for conversation. In the bar? the music is largely very good. However, the owner (George... as in George War-starter Bush) is a loud mouth blow hard who likes getting drunk, spouting his politics and treating his staff like a shit. If I wanted to listen to him, I'd put Rush "drug-using hypocrite" Limbaugh on my playlist. Yes, I realize Brookfield is a hyper conservative suburb. And many of Parkside 23's customers are grey/blue hair bordering on undead Brookfield/Elm Grove corpses who are waiting to die. That said, the owner clearly doesn't understand that when the senior citizens die off, their customer base is screwed. If the owner ever learned to STFU, they could bring in a potential customer base of affluent consumers who don't buy into his trickle-down crap. And pigs could fly. (Owner has at least one Chancery and Jose's Blue Mediocre Mexican. Expect the same there)

Phenomenal restaurant. Pure comfort. We don't venture out to dine in Brookfield too often however we were brought to PS-23 by another fun couple and man were we impressed. This place has all the makings of an upscale, business casual restaurant however yet a friendly come as you are classy-comfort style restaurant. The food is 5 star, the menu selection is fantastic and you have to try the desserts, eb sure to order all of the desserts and split them among your table as you'll never be able to decide on just one. PS-23 is our go-to for out of town guests now and it is a sheer winner when your goal is to impress your guests in style, comfort food and a great bar.

We tried this restaurant on a whim one night and were blown away. Having just moved from San Diego, we were on the hunt for the kind of farm to table, super fresh food we had gotten used to in the land of perpetual sun. And we found just that in Parkside 23! We started with the creamed corn and it was an instant favorite...we get it whenever we go there now, no matter what else we order. Looking for some comfort food, I tried their meatloaf and mashed potatoes and was taken back to my childhood. The veggies were all perfectly cooked and we both walked away happy. On top of the good food, we've always had great service...our waiters and waitresses have been warm, friendly and ready to laugh with us which is always a nice touch to a good meal!

Great atmosphere and a unique comfort food menu. The place was jammed so we ate at the bar. Service was excellent. I had the pretzel encrusted veal with mushrooms and capers. I also ordered the beet salad which came in a glass cylinder that you lift off. Very nice presentation. It would have taken them hours to stack diced beets without the glass cylinder assist. The wine was half price so that explains the crowd. Good wine and beer selection. Nice outdoor patio. Good price/value relationship

I was in a group of 5 yesterday for lunch. I ordered the fried perch for $15. My first bite was just warm so I probably should have sent it back. I'm guessing they were trying to serve our whole group at once. My fish was mostly breading and at $15 very pricey for coleslaw and a carb (fries or mashed potatoes). The alternative was Brussels sprouts for the carb. The meal talked back to me all afternoon! I'd never do it again. My luncheon group enjoyed the shrimp and scallops special while the person who ordered the chicken breast found it really dry. The service was somewhat slow, but eventually we received everything.

We decided to try it one night. We didn't have reservations so we waited a long time but that's understandable. Drinks were fine at the bar. I had the caprase salad and meatloaf. The salad was excellent the meatloaf was good. Green beans were a bit crunchy. Overall it was fine. Nothing exciting, nothing blew me out of the water. It was just ok. It's maybe a bit expensive but not shockingly overpriced. I will say that I love the thought of garden fresh food and service was nice, fast, and friendly. It was about 82 degrees in the dining room which was crazy but we asked and they adjusted. So like I said, it was ok.

Went there as a party of 15 and everyone was happy. The short rib was delicious as was the mac and cheese. The pork fries were pretty good too. Prices were very reasonable. I would look forward to going here regularly if I lived in the area.

I've been to PS23 about 4 times now. And each time seems a litlte less spectacular. This place is cool to check out if you've never been, but if you have been before the menu gets a little redundant. And the most recent time I went, the food was good but not great and the portions were not large at all - and we ordered from the "expensive" part of the menu. The menu breaks into three sections grouped by price: 7-12, 13-17 and then 18+? or something very similar to that. If you're feeling adventourous (and hungry) it's kind of fun to get a few plates and pretend it's a tapas restaurant - but it gets expensive in a hurry. Most of the plates in the 7-12 category are 11 or 12 bucks. The wine list is solid and they have 1/2 of wednesdays which is cool. They have only about 8 beers on their draft beer list, but they are all craft / local. I was quite pleased to try two new beers I've never had before. Overall, the place is cool to check out if you've never been, or perhaps even good for consistency, but this place is like a one trick pony and I've seen the trick a couple times now.

I liked the atmosphere the most. It was comfy, dark, and very social. We had great fun and drinks in the bar before- and our meal was exceptional. I would go back, you should try for yourself.

Hidden in the quiet neighborhood with confident dishes and fresh/seasonal ingredients. Couple of my favorites are pretzel crusted veal chop with pan sauté spätzles, asparagus & wild mushrooms, juicy tender meatloaf, pork roast with mashed potatoes and bacon sauté collard greens. Be sure try their homemade dumpling soup. They also has seasonal menu features the seasonal vegetables harvested from their own garden by the side. Just had Mac N Cheese with bratwurst & bacon, OMG !! Beer braised greens is super yummy, too. Outdoor patio with fountain has about 15 tables are perfect for sunny afternoon.

This place is our favorite to grab dinner - either on a date night or with the whole family (which includes a preschooler and two teenagers). We are new to the area. PS23 was where we had dinner the first night of our first pre-move visit, and even though we've tried several other places, it's still our favorite. Why? - GREAT food - high quality, scrumptious, prepared well, plenty of options (including seasonal rotations) for a variety of tastes and preferences; good beverage selections (decent wines, well-made drinks) too - Fantastic people - every server and bartender who has ever helped us has been just the right level of friendly and attentive and has always done a great job taking care of us (most of the hostesses, too, although sometimes they are very young and clearly new at their jobs and still figuring things out, which is endearing enough that it makes the mediocre "service" completely acceptable) - Comfy, laid-back (without being too casual) vibe - Reasonable prices - it's only a bit more than bar-and-grill prices, but the grown-ups enjoy the food more (as do the kids) and I feel better about the kids eating there

The food was very good. I recommend like others the cream corn. Also had a special Mac & cheese with brats and bacon, very good. Price and portions are a little strange but overall happy with the dinner. I'd definitely go back again.

All sorts of good things happening up in here! If you ever are in Brookfield (and I understand if you never are), this is the place to go. Farm fresh food, perfect service, and really nice atmosphere. I had the braised short rib sandwich. It was soooo good. I went with "vegetables" as my side, and to my pleasure a great brussel sprout dish was provided. i could have had a mountain of that for my meal! and do yourself a favor and have a cup of their chicken dumpling soup. My counterpart had the veggie risotto and added a chicken breast to it. I sampled it, and it was great too. Hidden gem. yes. It is a short drive from mayfair, so maybe if you are there (and i understand if you never are), swing west on North Ave and check this place out.

Went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago. They get a decent crowd for lunch, so I can only imagine how busy it gets for dinner. Weather was nice so we sat out on the (large) patio. I ordered the Amish chicken which came with mashed potatoes and veggies (I asked for just green beans). It was SOOO good. Family got the meatloaf and salmon which were equally delicious. Funny how they can make basic meals taste way better than you can ever make them at home. :)

We are semi regular patrons to PS23. Tonight we decided to sit in the bar and had great service from the bartender, Michael, who had a lot of people he was serving but gave outstanding service. Our food was great per usual. One of us always orders the "Wood fired pork roast" and tonight we found that they had changed it and added a very awesome polenta cake with it. It only added to the already awesome dish. I ordered the baked lake perch which was also very delicious. This is a great spot that serves great food and has a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. I'm glad it is right down the street from our house!

Parkside 23 - Unique among the countless chain restaurants representative of generic Brookfield, Wisconsin, Parkside 23 is an independent restaurant promoting that overused Alice Water's concept, "farm to table." Often I scoff at this, knowing that almost every good restaurant serves the freshest food possible. However, Parkside 23 has an actual farm growing vegetables and spices right next to the restaurant. Everything tastes good and what emerges from the kitchen is not precious. The dishes are hearty & Wisconsin filling. The Mac & Cheese has the requisite crust on top & is scrumptious. The Pot Pie is a tasteful necessity for a cold Wisconsin night. The Caesar Salad was fresh from their garden & was enhanced by the unique homemade dressing. One of our companions loved her roasted beets. The Veal, Meatloaf, Salmon were all prepared well and the desserts were delicious. This is good food, with no surprises or creativity. The bar is pleasant, with TV's in strategic locations for those Packer, Badger, Bucks, and Marquette games. Service is young, inexperienced, but with a Midwestern work ethic that makes them eager. Park side 23 will be your Brookfield "go to" restaurant unless generic, homogeny, and cookie cutter provide parochial comfort, and you are frightened at anything that veers from the commonplace.

Initially no one was raving about this place so I was in no hurry to check it out. However, I started hearing and reading comments about how good the food was around 6 or 8 months ago. So I decided to visit. I went on a Thursday night. The parking lot was full. I called the restaurant and they said it was ok to park in the church lot next door. Cool. I walked in and the dining room was full. So was the bar. I thought that was another good sign. My group arrived and we took over the private party dining room. There were 30 of us. I was concerned about how the kitchen was going to process 30 orders in a timely manner when they were already slammed. They found a way. I was impressed...very impressed. They didn't just find a way, but they dominated. All of our food tasted great. I didn't hear one complaint from my group. Nothing was sent back. There were no mistakes. One of my friends let me try the Cream Corn she ordered. It was made with leeks, roasted poblano pepper and bacon. It was the best corn dish of any kind that I've ever tried. I can't wait to go back and try it again. I started with a cup of Chicken Dumpling soup. The broth was good. The chicken was shredded and mostly tender. The dumplings were huge and a bit inconsistent with flavor. Not bad overall, but I've had better Chicken Dumpling soup. My entree was their Pretzel Crusted Veal with cheese ravioli, sauteed asparagus, wild mushrooms, and capers pan sauce. I would have liked a slightly crisp texture from the pretzel (even though warm pretzels are soft), but the veal was tender and delicious. I make my judgements about a chef and a restaurant by the sauce in my dishes. This pan sauce was awesome! I loved the flavor and would certainly order this dish again as well as recommend it. In fact, I recommend Parkside 23 in general. My expectations were exceeded across the board. Great food. Great service. Great for groups. Management was great to work with when setting up the group event. I have a feeling another visit or two might make me bump them to 5 stars. Now I just have to figure out how soon I can make it back. Many others are still on my list to try.

I really, really like this place. It's farm to table - with their own farm being located around the back of the restaurant. All the veggies I've had here taste very crisp and fresh. It's a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the service is very friendly. The bar is separated from the seated dining area, which is nice if you get there before the rest of your group arrives. Nice for families and date night.

There is absolutely nothing bad I can even imagine saying about this place. The nutritional value of their homegrown veggies and entrees to the deliciousness of their drinks, Parkside 23 has all that there is to offer. Love this place! Been multiple times and hope to enjoy their entire menu

I am already planning my next time to come here for dinner. Wow! Food was amazing! Great choices. I went with a group of eight the other night and everyone's food was amazing - some more interesting than others! We also ordered several appetizers and desserts. Again, they were all wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, our food came out with perfect timing, our bar drinks were attended to as needed, and it was the perfect setting for great conversations with great friends. Decor was warm, simple and clean. Loved it.

HOST/SEATING/PRE: Upon entering the cabin lodge-esque entry way we were greeted by two friendly hostesses who asked if we needed a Gluten Free menu. When greeted by our waitress a short time later she also asked about gluten free needs. Water is served in old fashioned jam jars, cool touch. The menu (which can be found on their website) is broken down into price ranges of $7-12, $13-18, $19+ and sides. SERVICE: Our waitress, SARAH, was great. One of the most professional waitresses I've ever seen. She explained everything on the menu, knew when to fill waters, knew when to clear plates, complete pro and very personable. Tipped over 50% on bill. ORDERED: Creamed Corn (Leeks, roasted poblano pepper, bacon) $7.50, Roasted Beets (Scarlet and gold, wisconsin goat, maple glazed walnuts, apple cider vinaigrette) $9.00, Cedar-planked Salmon HER (Citrus butter, russet parsnip hash, asparagus, balsamic glaze) $18, Breaded Pork Chop ME (Root vegetable hash, apples, radish, arugula, mustard vinaigrette) $14 TASTED: The creamed corn and beets arrived first. The young man who brought these dishes dripped cream corn all across our table and on on my napkin. He was embarrassed but it was no big deal. The CREAMED CORN is amazing with sweet sugar from the corn and savory bacon with leeks, then a subtle heat on the finish from the pepper. I didn't even know corn could taste this good. Order this appetizer for two, it's quite large. The Roasted Beets featured Wisconsin chevre, though the menu didn't state the brand I'd guess MontChevre. If you don't like beets this dish will change your mind, gold and red beets with sugar to take off the earthy edge that scare away folks from this root veggie, served atop greens and maple glazed walnuts. Order this appetizer for two, it's quite large. THE ENTREES were responsible for the two star rating deduction. My wife's salmon was a tiny fillet, which gave it no chance to preserve any flavor after its time in the oven. She exclaimed it was inedible, I tried it and it was completely dry and flavorless. My breaded pork chop was so sinewy I couldn't cut off a bite size piece. We had to send the two entrees back. Our waitress handled the situation like a pro. She offered us something else, we opted to share a Macaroni & Cheese. There's no printed dessert menu. I had a chocolate espresso mouse that was served in an old timey jar. It was really good. Our waitress comped our entrees and desserts. DECOR/SPACE: The menu feels farm-to-table trendy (ala Graze, Braise, All Purpose) but the space at Parkside 23 doesn't reflect that. It reminded me of a casino or hotel restaurant, a bit dated and generic. It wasn't loud even though on a Wednesday evening it was at near capacity. It's located in Brookfield and it did have a country club clique feel. Graphic designer Side note: Parkside 23 uses the same bold font at Madison's Graze, Rockwell Bold. POST: Parkside 23 claims to be the only restaurant in Wisconsin with an on-site farm. This is a step in the right direction to getting back to real food (insert Alice Waters or Michael Pollan quote here). The food was hit-or-miss. The service couldn't have been better. Gluten Free and vegetarian friendly.

Love the food... dishes are always well executed. Service is impeccable in the main dining, but is sketchy in the bar... to be fair the bar service is fair to adequate, but well below par in terms of the performance compared to all other levels of the team. The bar team, if going to serve food, needs to bring up their game to match the performance and expertise of main line servers... one should not be weary of eating in the bar for lack of performance... Asked for burger protein style, bar staff said... What... like no bun? I said, ask the kitchen, they'll explain it. Instead, he yelled to other bar tender, who also had no idea what it meant ... neither knew. They asked, you mean on like grilled vegetables....? I asked, are you familiar with the term protein style, I asked again, if they'd ask the kitchen... I got a BLANK stare... I changed my order. I'm sure that's not what management, chef, owners, or the main service staff would consider acceptable. Down from four stars on service.

Just returned to our motel from a very good meal at PS23. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals. She had the wood side shrimp and a salad. I had the seasonal brat-Mac-cheese meal. We enjoyed a carrot cake with spice frosting for dessert. We are in the area only occasionally, but would certainly come back again when we return.

The ambience and decor of this restaurant were wonderful. It felt warm and inviting. Plenty of seating available in the dining room or at the bar. We had heard raving reviews about this restaurant which is what brought us in initially. I have to say though that the food was just "meh" to me. Nothing offensive or bad but nothing that impressed me as I would have expected given friends' reviews. The menu was overwhelming. Call me old fashioned but I prefer to read menus that are arranged by food "type" and not by price. That's my personal preference though and fortunately our server did a good job describing the size of food options when we asked. Their Monday burger and beer deal is good if you are looking for a unique burger and a light beer (their own home brew). We will probably be back based on their gluten free menu and location(convenience) when family is in town.

Date night on Monday, yeah I know I'm getting old. Anyway so who remembers what Restraunt use to be in this location? I'll fill you in, it's stycks and stones and it was fabulous, I mean that place had lobster Thermidor on the menu and it was delish !!! Wish I could say the same about the current joint, but unfortunately the pretzel crusted veal was way to salty and the short ribs were a bit short on flavor. Not much else to say. Actually the wine was good, and maybe the patio on a sunny day would be fun??

The food here is excellent. The menu is always changing, and they have a separate gluten free menu, which always boasts a wide selection of delectable dishes. Staff is very accommodating to food allergies as well, and very knowledgable about the ingredients of each dish. Ambience and bar are nice too. The only complaint I have is that they don't carry Belvedere in their bar. :)

Many things seemed off on this visit. For starters, there is a new dressing that tastes like melted dreamcicles. Absolutely wrong flavor to add to anything. Also, a cob salad, or any salad for that matter should have cheese. The rotisserie chicken, walmart has them beat. The cornbread was really good as usual. Caprisi salad with fried mozzarella was very good, but messy to eat. Everyone's vegetables at the table could have been cooked about 5 minutes longer.

This place was adequate. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and having 1/2 price bottles of wine. My food was decent, my co-diners didn't spit anything out but no one seemed to rave about the food either. We were miffed by how hard it was to get a drink at the bar and at our waitresses lack of knowledge. I was also really put off the loudspeaker announcing whose table was ready. An upscale restaurant should not do that. The best places make notes about what the people look like and then go find them. I also think it is okay to walk around calling someone's name or even handing people a buzzer or something. But sitting outside listening to names blaring made me feel like I was at Gilles or Kopps or Fridays or something -- wait I don't think Friday's even does that. Also, I love that they have their own garden but I am not sure it merits the label farm. Unless I was missing a few acres... I would definitely return for Happy Hour, but not sure I would drive out to Brookfield (from Bayview) for it...

Great cozy place! They have a fantastic draft beer list along with tasty cocktails if your looking for a bar visit. The menu lay out is unique and tasty! Nick our server had great patience for my sarcastic yet particular family & over all did a great job. We will be going back for sure!

Came here for a colleague's going away dinner. I think we had about 10 people in our group. The food was very good. The service was great and the ambiance was nice. I forgot our server's name but he was quite funny and even made the experience better

Cannot describe how awesome this place is. The atmosphere is trendy and timeless. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The food is phenomenal. I would recommend anything from the menu. I have now been there multiple times and had something different each time. The food has never disappointed. My favorites are the creamed corn, the pretzel crusted veal and the stuffed peppers with risotto. From the farm to table food, the extensive bar and outdoor seating available, get ready for a fantastic experience.

I had a good experience at Parkside 23. Their patio is nice and we got to enjoy it on a mid-March evening (whaa, so crazy, Wisconsin!). I ordered the tomato soup and Caesar salad. Both were good. I think it's a little odd that the menu is organized by price. I couldn't get a feel for portion size or anything that way, but the server was helpful in that regard. My friend, who is vegan, called ahead to make sure there'd be something there for her to eat. The person who answered the phone assured her she could get the stuffed pepper without cheese. Well after we had placed our order, our server came back to tell her that the pepper cannot, in fact, be prepared vegan, so my friend ordered the beet salad without cheese. Later, the owner came out and brought her dish out personally, apologized for the mix-up and told her the salad was on the house. I was really impressed by how they turned that situation around. I got the banana split for dessert and it was good.

Couldn't be happier with the food and service. The steak was excellent. Our server was wonderful. Pleasant, attentive, and happy to discuss what makes the place unique. Good local beer selection. Comfortable atmosphere. They focus on providing local food. I was a little disappointed not to see a "cheeses of WI" appetizer plate. As a non-WI resident I associate WI with beer and cheese. Small things I appreciated: 4 people said goodbye to use as we left, the server wrote the date & dish on the to-go box, and her discussion on the local focus of parkside 23 I will return next time I am in Brookfield.

We went here for my birthday dinner and everything was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. On her suggestion we had the beet salad, creamed corn and seared tenderloin for appetizers. Everything was very thoughtfully prepared and extremely flavorful. For dinner I had the veal which I would definitely recommend. Prices were very reasonable, especially given the great experience they delivered.

It was busy even for a Monday night - an hour wait to sit inside! We sat outside and I'm glad we stayed! Tried the BBQ chicken flatbread to start, which actually wasn't my favorite. Salmon was amazing! Cooked to perfection and served with a great citrus butter sauce that was flavored just right to add but not over power. Dessert was chocolate mint cake, which was more than enough to share. Will definitely go back here it's a great date spot with great food.

I visited Parkside 23 on a Tuesday night with a group of ladies. I really like the mission statement of Parkside 23 and they have an awesome website. The layout and decor of the restaurant was really lovely, so I was pretty excited for my meal. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with my food, and I thought the service was super slow. It shouldn't take more than 2 hours to eat somewhere on a Tuesday night. We spent too much time waiting for those basic check-ins that you really appreciate when you need something like a beverage refill or fork or whatever. I ordered the vegetable risotto at the recommendation of a friend, and it arrived lukewarm, as unseasoned white rice with green beans. Not impressive. I probably won't be back. It's a bit of a trip for me to visit this restaurant, and I think there are much better restaurants much closer to me.

One of the better restos in the greater Milwaukee area that I've eaten at. Good comfort food and great beer list. The burger is solid, although the fries must come out of a bag or box. I also had the roasted pork shoulder on another occasions and it was very good, with a light sauce and killer polenta. My lady had pretzel veal, which was good, but has potential to be great. Mushrooms were undercooked and the sauce had too many capers, which dominated the overall flavor. I think the chef could go with a smaller menu and focus on executing a few things well rather than trying to offer so many variations. Someone in the kitchen is also 'black pepper' happy. The wine list, especially by the glass, needs some work. Mostly, they offer big commercial US brands in a limited range of styles. Would be great to see some good wines from France, Italy and Spain, or even Chile and Argentina, both of which have a ton of organic producers. And by 'good' I mean put a little effort to find the best quality and character at the best price points (I can help, if you need it). The ambiance needs a little bit of work too. The dining room is open and echoes. Lighting is too bright at night. I'm looking for something cozier. The bar or the patio is the best bet. Service is reliable, yet casual and friendly. Like I said, this is one of the area's best restos, but it still has a long way to go to be on par with similar restos in Chicago or Brooklyn, where Vinegar Hill is the benchmark. I'll be back, often, but I also think PS23 can be a one if not two stars better, if they want.

Great ambiance from the first step in the place. Large bar and large open dining area. Could hear some live music from the bar in the dining area. Waiter really knew the menu well. Very knowledgable. Food was 4 stars. I had the braised ribs and wifey had the pork chop. We shared the corn chowder. All was well prepared. We can wait to go back!

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants to dine at when in the Brookfield area. Been here several times for lunch and dinner and the very fresh & delicious farm to table food at amazing prices (as compared to what I would be paying in the NYC area) is such a treat! Portions are huge for the starters, so share with your friends!! Love the flatbreads, the beet & goat cheese salad is beautiful and delicious or if you are feeling indulgent, the creamed corn is to die for. But wait - I don't want you to die. Just understand that it is totally weight-gain worthy. I could eat it every day but then I wouldn't fit through the door to come get more. I am a true meat lover and whenever I am in the mid-west, I can't help but to order a beef dish, so the short ribs here are most definitely a favorite! The Chicken Pot-pie is another yummy and equally comforting option. Dammit...now my mouth is watering and I am suddenly looking forward to my next flight back to Milwaukee!! Ugh! I love you Parkside 23!!!

We stopped in here for lunch last week, and we had a very nice experience. We all ordered burgers and fries. The burgers were cooked perfectly, and seemed to be of very high quality. The fries were nice and crispy. Our server was friendly and prompt. I was surprised that there were not more people eating when we arrived around 11:30. I will admit it is a bit strange that they do not have a special lunch menu. I like the idea of the menu organized by price, but there should be some smaller portions of their popular dishes for the lunch crowd. All in all, we had a very nice meal, and I would go back again to try a few other items.

Plates looked small but I left stuffed and everything that was suggested was delicious: Braise short ribs, Crusted veal, creamed corn which was their specialty and absolutely delicious; homemade brownie for dessert! . Service and food was amazing!! Bonus was half price bottle of wine night! ;)

Who wouldn't want to dine at a place that grows its own vegetables on its 10,000 sq. ft. farm located on the property? And what PS23 can't grow, it seeks out locally. I have dined twice and both experiences were above my expectations. Service is impeccable. The patio is gorgeous, the dining room is cozy but surrounding tables are non-intrusive (as in you don't hear other's conversations.) More bar/restaurants with quality beers on tap should follow PS23's lead on the beer flights. Trying 6oz samples of 4 different beers is a perfect size to get enough flavor to form an opinion. The food couldn't be fresher or cooked more to perfection. And just knowing that everything is local makes me even more of a supporter of this place. And save room for a "reward" as the cobblers are Yum! Yum! Yum! I love that the bar is on one side and not in the middle of the dining area. This helps keep noise levels down. Come dressed casually or fancy it up -- both ways is fine.

My favorite (and only) son took me, my husband and daughter here for my daughter and my birthdays...and we were not disappointed! The entire evening was absolutely wonderful! Our server was excellent, super friendly, and knowledgeable, which is such a huge deal to us! Loved the atmosphere...not fancy, but not bar or chain food-like either. We were in a booth and I loved how every table was far enough apart to let you converse freely without keeping your voice down. My husband had the grown-up mac and cheese ( I think it was called) and it was good, but not great. I tasted it and it was a bit bland and not cheesy enough, but was still pleasing. My son had a cheeseburger and it was again, good but not great. The birthday girls had pretzel crusted veal (my daughter) which was fantastic, and I had the braised short ribs at the recommendation of the server and it made my mouth and tummy happy for hours! Both were perfectly done, superbly flavored and totally satisfying. We will definitely be back again and often to try the other menu items! So happy to have finally visited this place!

The food here is amazing. Everything we had was fresh and fantastic! You cannot go wrong eating here. The only reason I didn't give them 4 stars is that their menu is confusing. It's organized by price instead of by appetizer, entree, etc, so it's very hard to tell what is an entree portion and what isn't. You have to ask the waitress which we both found annoying. However, I would still go back in a heartbeat, because confusing or not, it was delicious.

Here's what you do: You drive west on North Avenue until the "Recall Walker" signs turn into a solid row of "I Stand with Walker" signs. Before you know it, you are at PS23 and there is only one thing you must do: You must order the creamed corn. Everything else is pretty irrelevant. Oh sure, the decor is comfortable and relaxed, there is a solid menu with a choice to please any taste or budget, there is a nice patio and an irresistible farm-to-table concept. But really, I am telling you, it's all about the creamed corn. Our waitress noted it is so good she has contemplated having it for dessert. I believe she may be onto something. It is sweet, creamy, bacony (is that a word?) and utterly delicious. Go. Now. Get ya some corn. Then come back and tell me how right I am.

Its not that it was bad; its just that I did not 'like' it. I ate there with a relative and we did not share 'tasters' so I will only go thru my meal. PS 23 has a garden on their property which is evident in their menu. I like this concept quite a bit. They also have some 'farm dinners' planned for August but after my meal I probably would not make the trip. The menu is divided by price. So I was not sure if the Beets on the $7-12 section were a small plate, would they fill me up - I did not know. I really wanted to try them, but as a first time diner, I had no cues about the portion sizes. Anyway, I ordered the scallops from the $13-$18 section. There were four scallops atop a polenta cake, which was placed on top of some sauteed greens. Not something for the hungry appetite, but I understand this place is not about that. The scallops were well prepared but nothing to write home about. The polenta was a little gummy and tasted like it either was re-heated or waited around a bit before being served. Th service was attentive, timely, and polite. This seems like a nice place to go to with a crowd where you pass dishes around and enjoy a sampling or when you have a smaller appetite (apres theater?). I think they have some creative options and again, the garden fresh really appeals to me. I will try them again as there were lots of items on the menu that caught my eye.

If you are going to eat anything locally sourced, it should be bacon. Nueske's bacon was studded in my awesome creamed corn side dish and in my cobb salad. Not small chunks either. We are talking almost 1/2 inch squares. Ooooh baby. Oh, and the vegetables were good too.

Parkside 23 was a nice surprise. After living in Madison for some many years and having plenty of farm to table restaurants, its great to see one in Brookfield. Most everything on the menu comes from farms around Wisconsin, and the vegetables usually come from within miles of the place. You could tell the freshness in everything we had. I went for dinner with a vegetarian who was very happy with the different options. The roasted stuff pepper with risotto was great. Really cant miss with this. Has all fresh veges on the inside. The Cobb salad was great, The chicken was so fresh and flavorful. I switched the dressing to the apple cider which was tasty. I cant wait to come back and try more of there food. I hear they have a great patio for the summer months. Ill definitely be back.

Really great food! I question the claim of being the only restaurant with a farm since the "farm" is really a small field on the back side of the parking lot that doesn't play prominently into the design of the space. And there are other farms in WI with restaurants, but that could be argued on syntax. Anyway, the food was great and the drink selection was pretty good too. My only complaint is that it has a very corporate feel.

Ugh Oh. Decent historical experiences, BUT was just eating a Cobb salad and hum....something crunchy appears. A chicken bone in my salad. Unexpected, dangerous, unsatisfactory. I know this restaurant specializes in farm to table dining, but I would like a little less au-natural with my chicken and spare me the bones! Disappointed.

Absolutely terrific food, kind of a weird layout of a menu into sections but who cares. Desserts are unbelievable, definitely worth saving room for. I would recommend pot pie with collared greens, creamed corn and pork fries but honestly I've never had anything bad. Just a fun place with great food, menu changes by season too which is cool!

Needless to say I WAS pretty excited to try Parkside 23, Farm to table, grow your own vegetables, cuisine past the downtown area. Boy was I disappointed! First, entering the restaurant has a nice bar and good beer selection. Ask for the wine list....7 glasses of wine. "Where is the wine list by the bottle?" I ask. "Oh, we can serve any wine by the glass in a bottle...just multiply times 4!." On to the food, appetizers were done well, beet salad (too large of a portion for even two people). Some other very forgettable appetizer that our table of 5 shared. Now on to the entree's, braised short rib over mashed potato. When the side is realistically the best thing on your plate you are in trouble. All the ladies at our table ordered scallops, all well done and would likely bounce on the ground if dropped. A person at my table had osso buco which was OK, but came with a side of asparagus. Now, when you proclaim to be a farm to table restaurant and also tell god & country that you grow your own vegetables, you would think you know how to cook them. It was the worst banquet style, limp, pea soup brown asparagus I have ever seen. Maybe it was a restaurant's first year blues but cannot recommend now or in the future.

I dined at Parkside 23 again this week with a friend who needed a GF option, which they do very well. Dinner was fine, but again, there was nothing about the food or experience which I couldn't have done better at home. If Parkside 23 is the brainchild of Joe DeRosa, why can't it get more of its genetic material from Eddie Martini's and less from The Chancery? The concept of the restaurant is fantastic, the location is great, the decor is decent, and these people obviously know how to "run" a restaurant with the best of them...but sadly, the product that comes out of the kitchen at Parkside 23 just continues to be very, very average. It just seems like a re-branded Chancery.

This is the "Kitchen, Patio, Bar, Farm" reincarnation of the former Sticks and Stones restaurant by the Eddie Martini/ Chancery/Blue Sombrero owner, Joe DeRosa. The main dining room is very open, has a good feel to it. The bar has a much closer, tighter feel to it. The patio is really nice in summer. I arrived with a friend at 9:30 on a Friday night, was promptly seated, as one of only two parties (but this was in the middle of one of the biggest snowstorms this winter). The service was predictably fast. The food was very good. The vegetable risotto with SarVecchio Parmesan (from Plymouth!), was very good. The homemade "Russet and Sweet Potato Chips" were served warm, perfectly spiced, not greasy, perfect, especially the sweet potato chips. The "Maya's Macaroni", a four cheese mac and cheese with a panko crust was really great comfort food, especially in the middle of a snowstorm. The best taste of the evening was the "Caprese Flatbread", a thin crust mozzarella pizza with a smattering of oven-dried roma tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, and (basil) pesto. This pizza was amazingly good, a bargain at $9.50, perfection. The wine list had some sustainable, as well as biodynamic wines. The VanDuzer Pinot Noir, a cool weather Willamette Valley gem, which is also sustainable, salmon safe and LIVE endorsed, was very good. The sangria was also very good, with a homemade syrup. All in all, a really nice, casual place well worth frequenting.

Had dinner here with some friends from out of town and her parents on their recommendation. They live near here and had nothing but good things to say about it and had tried a good portion of the menu. We arrived early and sat at the bar- the atmosphere is nice but the bartenders are slow- it took a solid 4 or 5 minutes after I ordered my drink to actually receive it. For dinner I had the Italian Flatbread which was very good- thin crust, fresh toppings and large enough to feed 2 almost. My husband and one other had the Braised Short Rib which came with a side of mashed and it was tender and flavorful. And 2 others ordered the Pot Pie which they said was very good- it came with collard greens with bacon. Pretty much everyone but me cleaned their plate. We also ordered dessert- my husband and I split the banana split which was brilliant- it was a nice, smaller size, with caramelized bananas and fresh whipped cream. Another couple ordered the apple tart which also look delicious. The menu is organized by price, which is different. The prices are all pretty moderate. The menu is American comfort food. They try to source locally, even have a large garden on site. The beer and wine are local mostly local favorites. They don't take reservations but you can "call ahead" and let them know you are coming. I'm not sure the difference because our table for 6 was ready promptly at 7. Overall, I'd give service about a 6(seems like a lot of high school kids who are pleasant but not outstanding as a waitstaff) and the food about an 8- I will be back to try more items on their menu.

Have been to PS 23 on numerous occasions. The food has always been excellent with the salmon being my favorite dish they serve. Service can be a bit spotty sometimes, but in general the staff is very friendly. I also like the happy hour with 2 for 1 specials and half-price flatbreads.

We've had wonderful meals time and time again that we have visited Parkside 23. The waitstaff is incredibly accommodating, including putting us in a separate room when we dined with children and there was a loud live band. The food at Parkside is hands down our favorite in the Brookfield & Milwaukee area. We have not had one dish that we did not extremely enjoy. Their beer selection pleases the beer snob in your group as well. Restaurant is always super clean and inviting. We will be a customer of Parkside for years to come, keep up the great work!!

Nice dining room - OK service - Caesar salad was mostly lettuce and dressing - Blue cheese olives tasted like they were made with feta - Drinks were small and expensive - No reservations but you can call after 4 pm to hold a table - I don't get that! - Braised short ribs came out cold the first time, the reheated version was warmer but under seasoned and the sauce tasted like maple syrup - nothing very complex or interesting. I won't be going back anytime soon

Unhappy with service. Also had a surprise with the price of a special which was $32, much more than $21, the highest priced item on menu. Restaurant policy is not to state the prices and we naively did not ask. Not impressed with handling. Atmosphere, very casual...noisy. Will not return.

Awesome. Been to this place numerous times now and every dish on top notch. The beet salad is phenomenal. Pork ribs osu buco is great as well. Hard to find anything here you won't like. Give it a shot, you won't be dissappointed.

Will not be back. The risotto was tasteless, no cheese taste and no seasoning. Worst of all was the flies landing in my hair and food throughout the meal. Very unappetizing! Nice server, only positive of the night.

I really like this place a lot. I come here once a month to meet up with some friends. We used to mix it up & go to different places, then decided to come back here every time. Caprese flatbread is my go-to item. But tonight I ordered the short rib sandwich. Delicious!!! The salted caramel brownie is no longer on the menu-bummer! Because my friend gets it for dessert every time & its the best dessert they have. We've done the homework. Red sangria is great as well!

4 of us for lunch. We ordered completely different items and EVERYONE enjoyed their choice ~ stuffed peppers, chicken 'n ribs, cobb salad and scallop salad. TONS of food. We shared the banana split. After reading the other reviews, I wish I had ordered the creamed corn! Lovely atmosphere. Competent server. Owner visited our table. I would return.

PS23 is one of my favorite restaurants in the Milwaukee area. The bar area is casual enough for people in jeans, but I haven't felt out of place wearing a dress there or in the dining room. Love the cozy atmosphere and the attentive service -- these folks know what they're talking about, food- and beverage-wise. The menu changes with the seasons, but I bet they'll always have that mouthwatering burger; the fries are perfectly salted. I also recommend any risotto on the menu, and the soups I've tried have been top-notch. I've had salmon served a couple different ways, and each time, it was well seasoned, cooked right-on medium-rare, and the seasonal sides were delicious. Everything on the plate complemented one another. That's a chef who knows what's up. Have room for dessert? The Paradise 23 is crazy good. A balanced mix of sweetness for chocoholics and vanilla fans alike.

Parkside is the best Brookfield restaurant we've tried. But then again...that's not saying much, as Brookfield really doesn't have much to choose from. We've been there several times, and have had hits and misses each visit. But it's good enough to get us back again and again. The Good: -Beet Salad -Crispy pork belly -Creamed corn w/ pork belly -Potato chips (side) -Cobbler of the day: If they have peach that day - GET IT. YUM. The Not-so-bad (just OK): -Beef brisket -Chicken Dumpling soup: flavorful soup, but wished there were more chicken and less dumplings...actually just wished it was a chicken soup. -Braised Pork Rotisserie ribs: not bad, but the corn bread was bland and such a disappointment -Banana Split: interesting, but not as good as the cobbler. -Duck: i honestly can't remember it...but it didn't stick out as a bad dish! -Short Rib sandwich The Ugly: -Creamed spinach: bleh. The first one we ordered was so salty neither of us could swallow more than a bite. So we sent it back (we're usually not the type to...but it was THAT inedible). The second try was better - but not good enough to ever order again. Service: Inconsistent. One server got uncomfortably close (think 5inches from your face), another one talked a mile-a-minute (think of a speech w/o any commas or periods), and one was super nice and friendly. Each time, I just hope to get the last one. Looking fwd to warmer weather, when we can actually see that Parkside is actually park side.

It's more accessible than Sticks and Stones but not as good. I have friends who are gaga over their salads and things. The salad was good but I find it hard to believe it's worth the drive to Brookfield. The macaroni was all right but needed a generous amount of cracked pepper. The flatbreads were fine as well but nothing extraordinary. It seemed like the macaroni and the flatbreads were the two vegetarian dinner options. The berry cobbler was too sweet and not particularly interesting, although the ice cream on top was very good. Overall, I felt like there wasn't much that rose above the level of "fine." Also, the server seemed kind of inexperienced but he was a nice kid and I have no complaints regarding the service.

Tried this place for the first time with my sister on July 4. Besides the awkward hostess being really unfriendly when we walked in, this restaurant is great! Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious! We had the veggie flatbread and chicken pot pie. The superfruit sangria was amazing!

Probably won't be back. The menu was irritating - arranged by price not by vegetarian, chicken, beef, etc I guess we were partially influenced by the fact that we were seated next to the kitchen. It was so loud. Why is it so open to the dining room? I read many reviews about the slow service so I guess maybe they were over compensating. Our food came so fast and we were asked so many times how everything was I got the sense that they wanted to move us along. I had the risotto which was blah. My husband liked the meatloaf but the green beans were practically raw. And we miss having a little bread with the meal, nothing. The beer selection was good, however. All in all, pretty rushed and overpriced for what we received. We actually ended up taking 2 tiramisus to go and they were pretty good. Maybe being away from the clanging pots helped.

Locally sourced casual, delicious food that does not drown out the taste of the produce with seasonings and sauces but adds enough to make them special. Cedar-Planked Salmon: 5/5 --Everything about it was perfect MIla's Mac and Cheese: 5/5 (for what it is, plain 6-cheese mac and cheese) Sausage Flatbread: 4/5 --Great tasting crust (reminds me of naan) and sauce but light on veggie toppings Classic Mojito: 4/5 --Strong (alcohol), Fresh mint, but not the best

My wife and I really enjoy the food here. Not everything on the menu is my cup of tea, but I personally go for the macaroni and cheese with bacon and we start with the sweet potato chips.

Excellent service and incomparable flavor...our first visit to Parkside 23: We enjoyed our farm salads, the balsamic vinigrette dressing with shallots was mouthwatering. I enjoyed the braised short rib tacos with cilantro lime rice. The meat melted in your mouth. We finished with the awesome brownie dessert. The ambiance was wonderful and this is definitely recommended - we will be back!!!!

Our first visit to Parkside 23 was a very pleasant one. They don't take reservations, but they do take a call ahead the same afternoon and we were seated right on time if that kind of thing is important to you. We had a drink in the bar ahead of time, a nice menu of original ideas and the service was quick. Once seated for dinner, service there, was also quick and friendly, the menu definitely takes a little getting used to as it is arranged by price point as opposed to categories like appetizers, salads, entrees. But once you look through it, it actually frees you up to make your own choice as to what you want in what order. I had the macaroni and cheese for an app and it was very tasty and an extremely generous portion, really enjoyed it the next day, too. My wife had a garden salad which was fine. For entrees I had the short rib, which was prepared just right, with mash potatoes and some of the best carrots I can remember having, served with a wonderful maple syrup sauce. My wife enjoyed a risotto stuffed red bell pepper and had the creamed corn, which was truly something special, don't miss this! Our waiter made a good selection for me from the beer menu which was impressive. However, if you are a wine-with-dinner person, be prepared for a very short list. Dessert was very clever, my wife's sundae served from a sealed Ball Jar and my banana split was a nice portion with the banana's given a nice touch of carmelization on the split side. We will be back!

Menu is confusing and designed to get you to pay WAY more than expected. Their claim of local-sourcing is mostly for publicity. They get their chicken from Bell & Evans, which is based in Pennsylvania. Local? Not so much! Keep in mind, this place is owned by a rather large chain that operates a bunch of restaurants under various brand-names. Servers are primarily high-school students earning minimum wage doing jobs they are not qualified for. For my money, I'd head elsewhere.

Went for lunch today with a couple of friends..everything was spot on..proper service (this doesn't mean they try to be your buddy, rather they know their products, bring you what you need when you need it and take away the stuff you are done with in a timely fashion), food was spot on and the place is just enjoyable to be in..

Fantastic service, great local wine/beer and food offerings. Super knowledgeable staff. Shared the caprese flatbread, loved it. My entree was the special, a roasted tenderloin with a coulis of roasted peppers, onion and garlic, and fried potatoes...everything to perfection. My only complaint is the hostesses. We arrived at 5:30and there weren't many people there. So what the need was for the trio of apathetic teenage hostesses, I'll never know.it took all three of them to retrieve 2 menus, figure out an appropriate table, and shuffle around for a while before seating us.

Although I have eaten at this restaurant many times, I recently had a poor experience, namely in regards to service. That said, I wouldn't post a negative review if it hadn't been for the lack of response from the management that evening, The food at Parkside 23 is consistently excellent and it offers a great, authentic, seasonal menu. Although it seems like an odd choice, one must try the creamed corn for a trip down memory lane with a new age, scrumptious twist. It has a cute decor and it is often crowded with a small wait despite their call ahead policy, but I feel this is a sign of a good restaurant. They offer a good beer selection and they have a nice patio for summer seating.

We tried Parkside 23 last night. We were impressed and are planning to be back. We were greeted at the door by 3 young ladies who were friendly and very helpful. The server was friendly & professional. The wine list is small but there is enough to pick from. We had the creamed corn and the creamed spinach as side dishes. Both were good - we would order again. 2 of us had the Halibut special and 1 had the scallops on the menu. We all enjoyed our food. We all had plenty to eat. I ending up taking 1/2 of mine home.

First visit was very nice. Will be back again soon! Group of four all enjoyed the food. Two of them had the Halibut special. One had the Salmon and I had the Scallops. Also had a side salad with a wonderful apple cider vinegar dressing. Nice portion size as well. Wine list is short, but we all found something we enjoyed. Service was very nice. Waiter was pleasant and had great suggestions. Nice decor. They have live music on Tuesday nights as well. Nice jazz band was playing for us.

PS 23 is an interesting restaurant--we've dined with them twice for dinner and 3 or 4 times for lunch. You need to become familiar with their menu in price categories. Food has been fresh and nicely prepared. My husband loved the short ribs--either the sandwich or the dinner. I've had their salmon for dinner twice and enjoyed it. Servers have always been friendly and service good. Why only 3 stars? We have found their reservation policy difficult to deal with--attempted to make reservation for a party of 6 when we needed to be somewhere afterward and they were impossible to deal with. We were told to call ahead and it did no good--we were given misinformation and still had a long wait. My handwritten letter to the manager later elicited no response. Not good PR when you are new in town.

We have visited this restaurant several times and have never been dissappointed. The food is genuine comfort food. They grow their own produce on the farm behind the restaurant and most ingredients they use are organic including several of the wines they serve. The staff is top notch as well. This has become one of our new favorite restaurants in town!

My wife and I just returned from our first visit to PS23 so here are by uncensored, first impressions. When we enters the door, we were greeted with a smile and taken to our table. Shortly thereafter, Sarah, our server, greeted us with a carafe of water and came back to ask if we wanted anything to drink. We wanted a half glass of draft beer and the bartender filled two glasses half way to accommodate our tastes. Sarah once again came back promptly to tell us about the specials and gave us sometime to decide on our lunch. When ordering, I asked about some of the entrees and she patiently answered my questions. I mention this because this brings me to another point - the service. The owner of the restaurant, who walks around greeting all of the diners, has apparently hired enough staff to take care of the customers. We never had to wait long for the next step in the dinning process. A real plus. The food. You probably know that the food is either local or grown on site. That's a good thing. My wife orders the Tacos and I ordered the Pot Pie. My wife said the tacos were delicious and took one of them home in a "non-styrofoam", reusable box. I finished my Pot Pie. Where my wife really liked the tacos, I merely liked mine. It needed salt, which is easily added, but I thought it was a bit pasty instead of creamy. But the chucks of chicken and vegetables, and flakey crust more than made up for it. Speaking of "chucks of chicken"' I had a cup of the pup special, Chicken Dumpling. The dumplings were huge (easily cut with my spoon for non- choking consumption) as we're the chunks of chicken. A bowl would have been a complete meal - even for Seinfeld. I was a little disappointed that no fresh baked bread was served but I guess it wasn't necessary. We're looking forward to our next visit as the menu had a number of interesting choices. It should be mentioned that I am a notoriously fussy eater but I was happy with PS23.

A New Favorite of ours, great patio open now, nice inside decor, friendly, fast service, although we generally prefer late lunches. Favorites include the salmon & Fried Amish Chicken & of course, the side of creamed corn is a must to try. Appreciative of their home grown produce & organic ingredients.

Great atmosphere and really friendly service. We sat outside on the deck and had a good time. Unfortunately everyone had an issue with the food: tuna tasted like salt and the chicken was rubbery. It's pricey, trendy and fun but I woudn't eat there again.

In Brookfield on business for just 1 night, I turned to Yelp to seek culinary guidance. PS23 had me at "vegetables from our garden out back". Yes! Yes! Yes! Coming from the SF Bay Area, I've got some exacting standards for food and was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with such a strong commitment to locally-sourced foods here. The atmosphere is great, the beer selection is out-of-this world (I asked our server for a suggestion and the manager ended up coming over, sitting down with us and talking us through the extensive beer menu). I ordered a 1/4 chicken (local, natch) and was filled to the brim after about 1/2 of the plate. The veggies were delish - though a little cooked for fresh veggies, and the peppercorn mashed potatoes were also tasty - though a little pureed for my preference. The brownie a la mode was tasty but slightly dry. I'd also really like to see future iterations of their menu feature wild-caught rather than farmed fish. Under normal circumstances, I'd give a 3-star, but this is the kind of joint I want to support and see flourish. When travel brings me back this way, I'll definitely head back to PS23 and look forward to the seasonal menu changes. Keep up the good work!

Meals were excellent, fresh, creative, and tasty, but not so strange that they lost their appeal. Short ribs and cream corn were my favorite. The banana split was also fantastic. Service was good, but a bit too anxious to clear plates and silver before we were done with them. Fun atmosphere. Nice beer selection.

Went to this place on saturday Feb 19th, and the overall opinion of our party of three was that it is just OK. It is not great, it is not bad, just ok. From what we ordered, the main dishes were just again, ok, they were not great, nor did any of them WOW you, but they were not bad, We all tried the Mac N Cheese, which was good, the Brisket Sandwich, which was OK, and the Lamb Shank over Egg Noodles, which was missing something, it was again, just OK, not bad, but needed something to make it better. The prices are good and fair, bill for the 3 of us plus once child ran about $50, (because bar tab not on bill read below on that) so nice to have a decent priced option. Service, we were greeted at the door by about 6-8 hostesses? strange but it felt like the Stepford Wives were all standing there, but all very nice and pleasant, the Bar Tender we has was great, explained the beer selection and how they make their own ingredients for Cocktails, like Syrup, etc, very nice guy. Our Waiter, was good, nice as well, but he should have asked if this was our first time there as we were confused by the menu, more on that below, and as it seems to happen to me quite a bit, we got one appetizer, but not the other then had to remind him after our main meals were already given to us, I hate that because by the time the second appetizer arrived, meals were done, and it was like getting dessert, but, an appetizer, so by then to full and not in the mood to try a dessert, but if I did I wanted to try the Banana Split, so perhaps if we visit again I will. One very confusing thing they need or I would suggest they fix. The Menu, how it is laid out and reads, very difficult, so difficult even our server did not either comprehend it, or he did, just had trouble explaining it to us, I will try to, all of the items were not listed as Starters or Apps, etc, but in a way lumped together, and by price, so an appetizer could be in between two dinner options and the revers, I had to ask multiple questions as did the other two in our party, and we all were quite confused, but after a while figured it out. A menu should be easy to read and flow, we all agreed we had to concentrate so much on trying to figure the menu out, that is distracted you over what you wanted to eat. Also, and this was strange, and a bit of annoying, they don't transfer the bar tab to your bill. First time I have ever encountered a bar tender coming up to my table with a bill? Very embarrassing. Kids Menu, they have a small one, but my advice is, don't bring your kids, as the food is "to good" for kids under the age of 12 to understand, your standard keep the kids happy type food is not there, it is like, hmm, upscale kid, and although good (as we ended up eating our 5 year olds dinner) you basically will be buying yourself another meal as most kids won't get it or like it, I could observe this from various tables as well. A beer I tried was excellent, Hinterland Luna Stout, very yummy, and I had an excellent Manhattan, I would highly recommend (if you like them) a Manhattan one of the better ones I tasted, they have a unique Drink Menu that if not for me driving, I would have sampled a few more. Now what we loved was the Appetizer Creme Corn, very good, best item we tried on the menu. We also loved the Beet Salad, very fresh, and enough to split between 2-3 people, even 4 people. And the French Fries that came with the Brisket Sandwich, were very good as was the Ketchup, I wonder if they make it as it was very unique and tasty, for ketchup. My overall view is this, I have spent worse money, I have spent better money, I will in the summer try it again, but for now my suggestion is, just get the side dishes and appetizers, and make a creative dinner experience out of that, skip the main meals as they are just ok, but the appetizers are very good, so go figure. KT
