My family and I had dinner here and we loved the food, brew, and atmosphere. The locally brewed beer was delicious. We tried the American Pale Ale and the Nut Brown Ale. The APA was smooth, light, and hoppy. The Nut Brown Ale was creamy with a hint of citrus. We enjoyed the Whitefish sandwich, Sirloin Tip, and Blackbean burger. The steak was juicy and the Blackbean burger was very flavorful. The Whitefish sandwich was locally caught and a large serving. We shared bread pudding for dessert. The food was well seasoned and fresh. Our meals were satisfying and delicious. We took a couple of growlers of the Wheat Dopplebock home and it has undertones of banana bread. We will definitely come back on our next visit.
Friendly service! Nice atmosphere, black bean burger was great and desserts are delicious
There are 3 different dining options- the Alley, the Brewing Co. and the Deepwater. Cool place to meet due to options. They do AYCE buffets on Thursdays. Tourists love it. People dig the beers, not I. Very friendly staff. Ordering a bacon cheeseburger medium well is a 5 star move. Best burgers in town. IMPORTANT: kitchen open til 10 weekdays and 12 weekends- in a town that shuts down early

Frankie’s Pizza

I've loved Frankie's for years. The pizza is greasy, in a good way but it's good to set your expectation. Today, we went to lunch with my wife's family and a friend. When the pizza came out, they told us there was a small issue with one. It wouldn't have mattered much but the owner insisted to provide a top notch product. They gave us the "mistake" and brought out the new one when ready at no charge. They were proactive, provided great service, and always amazing food. Thanks Frankie's!
Frankie's pizza has the best pizza in town, you won't find another pizza place like it. It is a hole in the wall looking place but the pizza makes up for it. Enjoy!
Pizza is excellent. But service is terrible. But worth the wait.

Second Wind Country Inn B & B

Reviews:
We found ourselves traveling through Ashland unexpectedly and were relieved that Kelly and Mark had a cancellation so that we were able to stay at the Second Wind. Upon arrival we were wowed by the beautiful vistas and animals on the property. Our room, Northern Lights, was spacious and tastefully decorated. The rooms were very clean. We enjoyed an evening fire pit campfire as we watched the sunset. Kelly's breakfast and smoothie were out of this world. We had to buy a mug as a remembrance of our peaceful stay. We were traveling due to a family tragedy that resulted in the death of my husband's twin and his wife. We are so thankful for the tender loving care provided at Second Wind and we hope to return someday.
Absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast. It snowed about three feet during our stay and we found ourselves stranded away from the inn. The owners saddled up a plow and came to our rescue. Phenomenal people running a quaint, yet luxurious place to do just what the name implies, catch a second wind.
Truly a "second wind" - this beautiful country inn was just what I needed to get away from it all and feel refreshed! Warm and friendly hosts - good food - spacious rooms (with heated tile bathroom floor) - great views - and a veritable menagerie of farm animals. I was delighted to see a question on the breakfast card -- "Would you like us to wake you if we see northern lights?" Now THAT is a sign of a great B&B!

Wondering? Having enjoyed the restaurant in Ashland we were happy when we learned one was going to open in Ironwood, Mi. It took years for it to open but when it did we were so happy! Then what happened it closed again last year and has not reopened, What is the problem? They advertise this location in the current South Shore Visitor which is no good as people traveling expect to find it on highway 2 in Ironwood, Mi. Be aware of this situation.
This is my favorite place to eat in town. Big servings and delicious food. The wait staff is fast and friendly and the food is always speedy as well. We get the cheese sauce with our chips every time. Yum! My husband and I split the arroz con pollo and it's a perfect amount for us.
What a find. Awesome salsa, made fresh, which is a great sign. The best guacamole and tacos I've had since leaving Las Vegas. This is some of the best Mexican food I've had, period.

I've been to the Inn at Timber Cove twice now. Both times were an absolute treat. The first time I stayed in the Carriage House and this time I stayed in the Guest House. Both are charming, comfortable and cozy, clean, and relaxing. The hosts, Tina and Brian, are incredibly kind and helpful. The breakfast they provide is always delicious and filling. A special treat is the dessert they provide each evening. Yum! The grounds are beautiful and quiet. This is where I will stay whenever I am in the area!

So we were originally excited that there was a brew pub in this area... When we came here it looked as though there are 3 different offerings. The first one looked as though that's where the early dinner goers like to dine. The middle one was a bar that offered the food from both. The third offered mainly burgers and pubfare- and the lady in the third restaurant was super nice explaining the different areas, i now wish we would have stayed there. We went with the middle section and were created with essentially a stare from the bartender/server guy... A hello or welcome would have been nice. And no, I didn't know that there is another list in the back corner on the wall of the beers you currently offer and that the beer list just listed all the beers you make. It was pretty odd that each time he would come to our table he would just stare at us and not say anything- or you know, ask if we have any questions or are ready to order.... Etc. Nope, not a peep. Though, he enjoyed loudly throwing the empty beer bottles into recycling... But I just may have been taking more notice because I was irritated with the lack of service. There was another bartender/server there with a beard who was friendly and came up to us asking if we enjoyed dinner. Thank you for speaking new beard guy! After we got our check the original blonde server guy with glasses finally asked us how we liked our food, but then we waited for over 15 minutes before finally coming up to the bar to pay. The only reason I didn't put down 1 star is because the rest of the staff seemed super friendly and personable. Ugh.
Stopped here last summer on our way back to Ohio from visiting Wisconsin. The setup looks amazing on the inside, and the bar is awesome. The IPA I had was fantastic. Plus they had an all you can eat buffet next door that was very affordable. I think if I lived near here, i'd be more than a regular at this place!
Overall...a very nice experience. I had to try one of their beers on tap so I stopped in. I started looking over the menu and was impressed by the options and so I ordered the garden vegetable burger. The waiter/bar tender was very nice, food came in an acceptable amount of time, and the burger was good. The sweet potato fries were delicious, too. The woodwork in the bar area is impressive and gives the room an added sense of charm. If you are in town, check this place out.

My husband and I enjoyed a late night snack on our way into Ashland! We always look forward to garlic cheese bread and are never disappointed!!! We also enjoyed a sausage pizza and some beer! The rest of my family would disagree, but I think Pizza Pub is the best!!!
my go-to in Ashland for delivery. Not wonderful pizza, but fast, free delivery. better than the alternatives. thing is: Ashland is without great pizza. boo hoo. The Philly sandwich is great. they have better pizza sauce than Hugos
Recently called to get a delivery ordered. I person who answered the phone sounded no more than 12 years old and must have been in the kitchen because the background noise was terrible!! We ordered chicken strips for the kids, a salad and a burger. The bill was $35+. That's outrageous! I've ate there before and the food is just ok. Really not worth the money and the restaurant needs a good cleaning and updating. It's just dark and depressing. I call these types of places "sticky" because after leaving you feel all sticky and that you may need to shower. Save your money and go to the Deepwater. For a few more dollars you will get a MUCH better meal and the place is really neat.
